My conspiratorial belief that I wholeheartedly believe should not be considered an extremist thing is that IUDs and birth control pills are fucking poison and should not be treated as an inevitable requirement for adult life. Yes there are some exceptions for certain health conditions, but those exceptions are rare, and still! This does not diminish the reality that hormonal contraception is literally classified by the government as a class one carcinogen. This shit is pushed onto women as a product of pharmaceutical bribery. Better options have been invented, maybe, but don’t expect to find them in this capitalistic hell of a country.

It is entirely possible to stack non hormonal methods and prevent pregnancy. Diaphragms are still available. Femcaps are available. (If your doctor or local pharmacy or insurance insists otherwise then contact Caya directly and take instructions from there.)

Fertility tracking helps when you actually educate yourself on how to do it rather than relying on an app. Spermicide is literal detergent and it fucking sucks, but cellulose gel (which is effective and less abrasive than spermicide, but is not available in US since the FDA can’t be bothered to test it) can be imported from Europe. Pulling out is effective. Condoms are effective.

And again, I’m not saying it’s advisable to rely on any of these methods alone. That would be stupid. But just because a non-hormonal method alone has like, a 70% success rate doesn’t mean you can’t bring your odds close to 100% by stacking them.

Honestly, Damian is so disappointed in his father right now. And his so-called siblings. The friends allies he had made over the years and he had been swapping multiple times, and still they hadn’t realized. Danyal was as pale as a corpse, closer to Drake for Pit’s sake! Jordan had red eyes! Elena was a girl! Respawn had white hair! Surely someone noticed- thank fuck, hello Todd, no he’s not on patrol, listen, listen, he needs you to know that Father? Blind. An idiot! The others more so! Yes yes, they’ve been doing their single-person trick, but surely someone should have caught on yes? And they haven’t- Oh? sleep deprived dust can't recognize what's dream and what's real when he goes in and out of consciousness so i think dust is allowed to be incredibly reckless when he's awake but thinks he's in a dream. he will kill whoever passes by him (or attempt to. for him it's an instict to shoot bones anyways.) he will drink 4 bottles of alcohol just because he thinks its just a lucid dream. have incredibly loud conversations with phantom paps because he's asleep so nobody will hear him talk. or just have loud ass breakdowns because again he thinks he's asleep!!! nobody's gonna know what he gets up to in his dreams. and until someone (probably phantom paps) tells him that he's not asleep and this is reality he won't realize until he's done something really reckless

horror is seconds away from exploding dust's skull open with his magic while dust is trying to strangle him and FINALLY phantom paps tells him he's awake and dust snaps out of it. killer is walking around the house with bones sticking out of him like pins on a sewing pattern (casually too. another day in the life for him) and he just asks dust what that was about. dust just gets off of horror and shrugs his shoulders with an idk. and then walks away. this is the 6th time its happened this month

People will defend Dazai's relationship with Akutagawa as if they have some deep, galaxy brain understanding of Dazai's character and we're the dumb ones for going, "um, no, fuck that."

Like, I'm sorry, were your eyes closed to Dazai's words in the dungeon scene? Were you sleeping during the Moby Dick phone call? Conveniently deaf during his conversation with Hirotsu? Did you miss the manipulation in the Cannibalism arc, too? Did you think he called Akutagawa to the place where they first met because he was feeling fucking nostalgic???

Notice how I don't even have to reference the abuse in the Mafia to show that Dazai is the greatest fucking dick in this show???

Batman #149 by chip zdarsky is mostly unremarkable, but I'm really fascinated by how it makes a great case for 'good' endings not saving 'bad' stories*. Because there's a lot of interesting concepts in this issue (bruce having to deal with his rapidly aging and decaying clone making him think about his own life, re-establishing a 'nest' so to speak for his family after pushing them away, etc) but bc of the OOC slog that came before it, almost every moment w/ the batfamily comes off as unearned and disingenuous imo.

Like, everything with Damian is the perfect example in this. Because in isolation it's...fine. admittedly it's a missed opportunity to not go deeper into how Damian would feel about a clone of his dad who tried to kill considering Damian's relationships with clones of himself (the heretic rejects and respawn) or with former enemies who wanted him dead but who were manipulated and/or brainwashed (like suren and maya).

Zdarsky doesn't go into any of this but you could maybe excuse it as the issue not being about Damian. However, coupled with the previous bizarre characterizations of Damian in 147 and 148, it ends up not being fine- instead it starts to feel...icky how Damian (who, despite often being drawn and written as white, will never have his connection to the non-white al ghuls forgotten and will always be effected by racism even when not portrayed as a poc) is constantly written as overly violent, uncaring and narrow minded in this run. Coupled w/ trying to recanonize the morrison origin for Damian it's like. OH this is badly written and laden with subtle bigotry, sick**

That's me going into detail on it with Damian but it's applicable to other things in this issue- the way Cass, Steph and Duke have all been ignored or turned into jobbers makes their inclusion in the 'family' here feel hollow instead of satisfying. Bruce proclaiming that Zur was still a part of him and he needs to accept responsibility for his actions (when it means taking in clone son) wrings hollow when just last issue zdarsky was bending over backwards to separate Bruce and Zur bc otherwise the Jason thing would get really awkward. Ends are achieved through means that feel hollow or strange. I'm at my destination but damn why'd the bus have to do all that???

I only really have opinions on this latest arc of zdarskys Batman bc it's the one I've read the closest (bc I'm a hater, masochist and avid follower of even the bad damian storylines) but it's not saying great things.

Bc zdarsky can do one thing good in this book, and it's write Bruce and Tim. And yet this entire story, whether of his own volition or editorial mandate, includes other characters who aren't Bruce and Tim, the fabric starts to unravel in very telling ways.

(p.s, I think pennyworth manor is an interesting idea but I feel like in execution it's just gonna be 'bruce living in a house haunted by the memory of the people he couldn't save' but with a different dead guy this time. Illusion of change and whatnot)

*whether or not the ending is good is up to you ofc, as is your opinion on the proceeding arc! I saw some ppl complain that the ending was too "WFA" for them, which I get even if I dont think it'll literally be the same premise. If anything it's probably a lead into the new tec run. Likewise many ppl who aren't in the weeds of Damian and Jason characterization liked the previous arc! But I have my opinions and rest my case before the bench

i think its okay for people to be upset when people who were important to their childhood die. like, its not impossible for people to be upset about someone dying and to be upset that said person was also a bad individual. people are multifaceted and i think social media has warped the way a lot of you treat grief and those around you as a whole.

I'm always gonna be pissed off about Sapnap and George being so blatantly uncaring of the time and work their fellow ccs put into their lore and stories that they literally broke into a house neither of their characters should know existed and made a big deal about killing a plot important NPC for "content" even though Ranboo and Tubbo had previously requested that Michael be left alone and one of the server's literal rules was to not do anything that would seriously upset anyone.

First of all, they both know damn well they could sit and stare at a wall onstream and get tens of thousands of viewers. Threatening to kill that piglin was not necessary for them to get content, it was just mean spirited, and the onslaught of people complaining about people getting nervous or upset was so exhausting. It felt like being punished for caring about the characters and story, and Sapnap and George just kept doing shit like this over and over (didn't they release Shroud?) The DSMP's story was cool and needed to be taken seriously when THEY we're a part of it, but if it was anyone else's story, it was lame and stupid and everyone was dumb for caring about a video game mob that much. God it still makes me so mad
