So in Disgaea 7, you can edit character descriptions on the bio sections of units and so of course I had to put as much of my titles as the game would let me.
This moment is what that entire bit has been leading up to.

Regarding the human kink thing when it comes to turians, some people actually do be nesting, omega-verse style. Imagine being a human assigned to a turian ship, and you just over here in your bunk, innocently arranging the pillows and stuffies, while these guys are just standing there, slack-jawed and harmonizing their subvocals lol
[updated post]
A/B/O is not for me, but I dig the concept of aliens being intrigued by plushies. They are weird when you think about it.
The weird part isn't the plushies–it makes sense for warm-blooded mammals who value skinship to enjoy cuddling soft things, hugs are fundamental for your health—No, The weird part is how the most popular plushies aren't human shaped.
You could argue dolls, but dolls aren't used as plushies. They're more hard and sturdy, something that can withstand being played with. they have joints and brushable hair. Dolls are puppets to tell a story with, a psychological form of play through creativity.
I want you for a moment to imagine an advanced civilisation of bears with me.
With metropolises and bustling economy, they haven't mastered space travel yet but they've been eyeing the planet closest to them, bringing back rocks from the moon, etc.
In one apartment complex, there lives a bear family. The furniture is more accommodating to their larger build, clothes are more of an accessory to them considering their luxurious fur coats keeping them warm.
It's nighttime, tomorrow's a Sunday and mom bear has to leave to work early, she's currently washing the dishes leftover from the wonderful dinner the family just had. Her wife, however, is putting their son to bed. it's his second week in elementary bear school! he's unhappy with his seating arrangement in class however, the teacher placed him too far from his best friend.
His mother promises to have a chat with the teacher about it when she drops him off tomorrow, the son bear is very delighted and roars happily. A big yawn escapes him as his eyelids get heavy.
In his arms, there lies a cotton friend. His most beloved treasure, the most precious inanimate object to his heart. His plushie!
He adores it. It makes him so happy. It helped make him feel safe when he first started sleeping alone after his moms got him his own bed.
Now, I need you to tell me what does the plushie look like?
For me, these are the options that instinctively came to my mind when attempting to imagine what sentient bear cubs living in a 21st century would gravitate towards in a plushie.
A) a teddybear, more fluffy, abstract, and cartoonish looking
B) a plushie in the shape of a honeyjar
C) a plushie in the shape of a fish–more specifically, salmon or trout
D) fuck idk man leave me alone
When compressed down to their core, in the most simplfied form, the choices are:
A) Identity
B) Food
C) Food
D) How did you get into my house?
-
With that long analogy out of the way, when you compare that limited selection to the actual things humans have already turned into plushies, it just doesn't make sense.
Food, yes we have plushies of food but also of animals we do not eat. rabbits, cats, dogs, dolphins, bugs. We have plushies of predetors even, things that once hunted us down, beings that still could very well kill us if we meet face to face, tigers, sharks, bears themselves even.
Animal cartoons are much more popular amongst kids. Fables about talking animals have been a stable genre ever since humans invented writing. Animal plushies are popular amongst adults too.
Plushies of inanimate objects, of plants, of fictional characters and fantasy creatures.
I'm willing to bet that humans already made plushies of verans since the first year they came into space, that they sold out on earth immediately. Hell, I'm sure there are plushies of reapers, of protheons and even of turians and other species.
Not even abstract ideas were spared from being into marketable plushies! isn't there a series designed to raise awareness for mental illness?
The whole meme of "turns your fav into a marketable plushie" spread so much because it is true. If there is one thing humans love, is making plushies of anything not human.
And that's the weird part to aliens, the big boy of human anomalies. "Why do they want to cuddle literally everything in this universe? and how come plushies of other humans is the last thing on that list"
You try to explain it to a salarian once but they just look at you in confusion. What do you mean you sleeping with plushes resembling your species is "weird"?? Don't you humans like hugging each other so much? Yet cuddling the soft imitation of a reaper each night isn't weird to you????
That's not even mentioning how the bear society analogy is flawed because we are biased by nature. We projected the bear society onto our human agriculture and based it upon our own popculture.
When in reality they would hold very different values, a different emotional range. They'd be as diverse as the other alien species in mass effect, sharing more resemblance to them than to humans.
We see someone sad, and we have this need to touch them, pat their shoulder, rub their back, hold their hands, and give a hug. Bears let their children walk on their own while we carry our young more, much like aquatic birds in more ways than we'd think.
A/B/O nesting isn't my cup of tea, but with turians, it's easier to digest. Yeah, they are birds. It would be literal nesting. That's kinda cute.
We like caves, it's also cute. Would turians prefer the top bunkbed? Anyway.
Birds usually throw clutter away from their nests, anything that's not a straw or building material is disposed off to make space for their eggs.
While we like the opposite, clutter fucking rocks! at least for humans.
We have a mattress, then a mattress cover, then a sheet.
Then we have pillows, stuffing, then pillow covers, decorative pillows.
After it, multiple blankets! a soft one, a heavy one, an airy one. Sometimes, blankets come with blanket covers.
Finally, the plushies arrive. Multiple of course, some for decorations, others well worn with cuddles. Sometimes a gaint big one to fully wrap all of our limbs around.
Sometimes our beds have crumbs from food we eat in it, othertimes it has a stray sock we took off while in bed and forgot.
Most of the time it has our phone in it, a pet joins us there, book we're reading, laundry we were supposed to fold but forgot, a bag, or several outfits as we get ready to go out.
That's a cave, much like bears leave the skeletal remains of their prey, we have crumbs from the cookie we suddenly craved at 3am.
Nests are neat and clutter-free, at least the bird ones, always getting cleaned from waste. Eggshells are thrown out as they hatch, baby birds waste are immediately disposed of.
Lizard nests aren't that different.
Because the equivalent to a nest foundation isn't the blankets, plushies, or pillows. it's the house foundation itself!
The concrete walls and the sturdy floorboards. The whole bedroom is already a well-built nest. The bed is just an extra cushion. The fluffy material and loose feathers birds leave at the very top, so the twigs don't scratch the fragile eggs.
So, in conclusion. Turians and Salarians would get VERY overwhelmed in a human bedroom, let alone a human bed with plushies, stuffies, and blankets.
They're like, "Are you expecting a baby???" When they notice what their brain consider is extra protective fluffing for eggs.
Turians even more because of their lack of skin nerves, hard plating, and all. Their outershell makes it hard to appreciate soft things, let alone hugging them, when they can barely feel it.
Salarains? They're softer, more squishy, and they might enjoy the way it feels against their skin. Most reptiles do, and they're the closest thing for reference.
They're warm-blooded, but they do originate from a fully tropical planet + they're amphibians and might have used to be semi-aquatic? Meaning that while they still produce their own bodyheat, it wouldn't be that much to begin with. Space is definitely much colder to them than to a human.
That's why hugging a human is so nice to them! They can leech off of your body heat as their very own sun–or at least a substitute for a heatlamp.
But plushies and blankets are a different story. With blankets, they might make them cold or freeze since they blocked whatever light or heatlamp the salarians must need for sleep when they're not wearing their temperature adjustment suits.
And if you sleep next to them under the blanket, your trapped body heat will cause the temperature to rise above what's comfortable for them and risk overheating them. Same with the fluffy sheets, pillows or plushies.
there's the risk of overheating them with your body as the blanket traps in the heat. it will happen slowly, but that just makes it more dangerous. A slow simmer of rising body temperature as they realise what a death trap a human bed actually is.
Plus, salarians only need one hour of sleep per cycle, it seems very excessive to them that you'd build a whole room and make the biggest piece of furniture in it solely for the purpose of sleep. All of those plushies just to hug to sleep?
Drell, who breathe through their skin, would view blankets as a total nightmare. Their clothes already need a lot of adjustment to accommodate their conditions, only certain material is airy enough to allow them to get a lungfull, and you want to suffocate them with cotton or polyester?
They know you only breathe through your nose, but it still...makes them feel uneasy. Seeing you covered completely in stuffies and thick blankets, only your head poking out. Much like what it would feel for us to see someone go to sleep underwater with a flimsy mask connected to an oxygen tank. Now, this is truly a death trap–the salarians were right.
As long as you forgo the blanket and...allow them to fully strip down, they will give this whole human bed thing a try. Silk or satin sheets and pillow covers feel the best against their skin, smooth surfaces that seamlessly glide, air particles passing through it with little trouble.
Anything fluffy, feathery, or with fur will irritate their skin. It's like something brushing against your nose. They sacrifice a lot of comfort when it comes to indulging the human need to cuddle, but most drell rarely complain as they accommodate to your need, even if it meant you'd be slightly cutting off their air circulation.
Maybe their society is exceptionally polite? Maybe devotion and sacrifice for the ones you love are just ingrained in their biology? It would explain their endless royalty to the hanar despite how staying on that planet is literally killing them.
Oh yeah, owning a humidifier in your room will cause them a lot of pain and discomfort. Turn it off, or if you really want to woo a drell, get a dehumidifier.
Krogans would fucking love our beds tho. Might make fun of it at first, but they secretly also want a soft mattress and plushies to cuddle with.
Get close enough with a Krogan, and they'll start crashing in your room and taking naps on your own bed whenever the chance presents itself.
Don't the asari sleep in pods? I'm thinking of that sex scene in ME, she fucks you in a pod. That's something. At least...Liara gets used to human beds?
-
Anway! having established all of that definitely vital and necessary world building, I can finally talk smut about the turians! the original context of this request!
One look at a human's bed and their minds are definitely going south. First of all, human, you're in desperate need of a mate because your nest is a mess! Why do you have so many different fabrics? Aren't you worried you'll suffocate yourself with a plushie or too while sleeping?
Second of all...they didn't know humans were this soft. You mean, most humans sleep like this? In very comfortable beds? Even like...the army tough ones? Oh, that's why they get so excited for shore leave? so they can return to their actual comfortable nests–sorry yes "beds" and have some decent sleep?
huh.
And none of you are expecting children, correct? This is just how the average adult human goes to sleep?
Turians don't have the heart to tell you that they associate soft beds–ones like yours—to the human equivalent of a heart-shaped bed with rose petals scattered around, candles illuminating the room and a very deliberate lack of condoms.
They try not to...think about it whenever they come into the room. A bluish hue adorning their cheeks, trying to avoid eye-contact as they explain that uh...fuck, they accidentally glanced towards your bed and forgot what they came here to say.
I talked before how jarring it's to them that humans easily allow others on their bed, be it human or not. You just casually invite your friends to sit on it? The same sheets you sleep on each night? the one so heavy with your delicious scent they can practically smell it the second they stepped foot into this room?
And now you're telling them to take a seat, even handing them one of your plushies to keep in their lap. What's a friendly gesture and a show of trust is being very very badly misinterpreted by their brain chemistry, their biology going haywire at what they consider the declaration of "Get me pregnant" Whether you're actually capable of it or not.
-
Sidenote, the angara might be the only ones to share our bed preferences, not only that but show enthusiasm at the mention of plushies.
The only difference is that their society values plushies that resemble people more, angara like them. The dolls and plushie lineup are very intertwined.
Cuddling very intimately with someone isn't sexualised either, nor presented under a romantic light necessarily. Their society prides itself on love and affection; they're direct with expressing their emotions.
A single angara family can have many mothers and fathers, tens of sisters and brothers. Cuddling and sharing a bed is very normalised even far into adulthood.
They might be the ones giving humans the wrong idea by immediately inviting them back to cuddle on their bed after only the second meeting. Just because they decided they like you :) It's the equivalent of going out for coffee.
Protheoans, meanwhile, fall on the opposite spectrum. Javik doesn't have a bed, does he? He never asks for one either. They're a society of warriors, they value strength and abhor tenderness. Brutal honesty is their forte.
But...they also read each other's emotions through touch.
While beds are a foreign concept, plushies are not. Javik can sense the history of a room just by directly touching its floorboards. Plushies and other sentimental objects must be valued very greatly in their society, doesn't he hold onto the disk of memories from his time back before being frozen?
He understands why his own species came to value plushies, but why the hell does yours do it? You lack his abilities, all humans do.
You try to explain it to him, but it just sounds like you're describing vague and badly done emotion reading with extra steps.
He concludes that humans must hold traces of these abilities. It just translates into safety and the need to cuddle others. Also, it is clearly inferior to the protheon's advanced ability, so yeah.
Javik dislikes your bed but likes your plushies and actually welcomes cuddling. He remains stoic throughout it but you can feel him poking through your memories.
Same with your plushies, he asks that he may keep one as a relic. A piece of your soul, your history is encased in it like an artifact in amber.
Touching it almost feels exactly like travelling in time to meet your old self, getting to part the curtians of space itself and get a front row view on the person you used to be.
Plushies immortalise you to protheans, who would've thought.
-
I had so much fun with this an analysis it <333 I know it isn't exactly what you had in mind anon, I'm sorry, A/B/O is listed as a "no" in my requesting list. But the concept was so good I had to approach it in a different direction.
I hope you still enjoyed it!

Omg Warlock!Yuuji with Patron!Sukuna sounds amazing, do you have any more bg3 au ideas???
Oh boy do I have more ideas, I've been thinking about a Baldur's Gate 3 AU since I finished my first playtrhough (I'm currently on my fifth)
I mainly have ideas about Yuji, Megumi, Gojo and Geto so I'm gonna share those
Yuji, as I've said, would be a warlock with Sukuna as his patron, I think that, much like in canon, he made a pact with him so that he could have the power to protect someone and he doesn't regret making the pact because it makes him able to fight and help those in need, but he definitely hates Sukuna himself
Also I know in bg3 the Flaming Fists are the city guards and it's the entire group's name, but I love the idea of having Yuji in this AU being known as the "Flaming Fist" sort of like Wyll is the "Blade of Frontiers", maybe he could start out with monk as his primary class (I've played a monk in my second playthrough and my God I loved punching everyone) and later on become a warlock because of Sukuna
For Megumi the obvious choice would be for him to be a wizard with the Ten Shadows being the various familiars he can summon through the find familiar spell, but I also love the idea of him being a druid with the Ten Shadows being his available wild shapes (and I also love the idea of him gaining access to spells like animal friendship, speak with animals and dominate beast)
Specifically, I think he should be a druid of the Circle of the Moon since they're more specialized in wild shaping and gain access to combat wild shape, which I think would suit him quite well
Gojo and Geto I have to put them together, of course I do, and they were actually the first characters I got an idea about when I started thinking about this AU
Just imagine: Satoru as a cleric of Selûne and Suguru as a cleric of Shar, both their Deities' chosen ones and destined to be enemies
They met the first time when they were fairly young and somehow ended up falling in love despite everything, meeting in secrets for years without ever telling anyone, until one day Shar finds out and takes away Suguru's memories of Satoru (sort of like how she does with Shadowheart about her parents). Satoru doesn't know at first, how could he? He only knows that Suguru stopped showing up at their usual spot to meet up, and when they do somehow end up meeting later on... Well. Suguru doesn't remember him anymore. Satoru is just another enemy in the midst of many others
I could very well envision Satoru trying everything he can to give Suguru back his memories, but every time he gets too close to getting his Suguru back Shar intervenes and renders all his attempts null. She doesn't want to risk losing her chosen one after all, especially not to a follower of her sister
Maybe they'd eventually get a happy ending, maybe they won't, I haven't thought that far out yet but they're definitely stuck in this constant loop of Satoru trying his hardest until Suguru almost gets his memories back before Shar gets in the way
I haven't thought much about other characters tbh but Maki could definitely be a battle master fighter Lae'zel-style, and maybe Panda could also be a druid but of the Circle of the Land unlike Megumi who's part of the Circle of the Moon
Also Mahito is definitely a follower/the chosen of Bhaal Orin-style, I think it'd fit him pretty well
And that's all the ideas I've had so far for this AU! Hope you liked them 🤗
#ask and you shall receive#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#itadori yuji#ryomen sukuna#fushiguro megumi#geto suguru#gojo satoru#zen'in maki#jjk panda#jjk mahito#bg3#bg3 au

Twisted Wonderland Personality Swap AU
Thanks so much for the support on my previous posts, it really means a lot to me. Because of that, I've decided to continue writing for this AU and keep you all updated! I'll also be using this post to answer some of your questions. (In this AU the Housewardens and Vice-Housewardens switched personalities)
I went ahead and made some doodles for Ruggie, Leona, Jamil and Kalim (Ruggie with Leona's eyes scares me tbh)
Questions/explanations/clarifications:
-I didn't change the characters' backstories (unless specifically stated). Riddle still has a horrible mom, Trey's family still owns a bakery, Leona is still second prince, Ruggie is still dirt-poor, etc.
-What changed is how the characters reacted to their respective trauma I guess, which resulted in their personalities changing.
-Their personalities are not exact copies of eachother. For example, Riddle isn't just Trey but with red hair. He's very similar to Trey, yes, but they have a few differences in their personalities too.
-I'll explain how the characters became the way they are over time. Plus, it's also fun to think about it yourself, right?
-I've already worked out Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, Octavinelle and Scarabia.
-I'm planning on doing every dorm, but I play on the English server so I haven't finished book 6 yet.
-Yes, I'm planning on having the Vices + Kalim overblot, and to do that I'll be using their already canonically established backstories.
-I am NOT a professional artist, nor do I have ANY experience with drawing comics, but just know that I'm passionate about this little project and will work hard to make it as good as possible.
-I'm busy with school (I'm busy in general lol), so I don't have a lot of time to work on this AU- I've been sick for the past 4 days, which is why I could post so much.
-If you have literally any questions, just ask. I love to read you guys' reactions!
Characters:
Jamil wears his hair in a loose braid in this AU, since I don't think he has the patience to braid his hair the way he originally does and his hair is kinda connected to his personality. Jamil is much more optimistic and positive, and he's always supportive. People seem to naturally like him, which annoys Kalim. Jamil always tries to look at things from a positive perspective, trying to make the best out of his situation, though it's not that bad for him, because Jamil genuinely thinks that Kalim is amazing. When he got an invitation to NRC he INSISTED that Kalim come as well. Jamil always wants to throw feasts, and if his master allows it, he'll disappear in the kitchen to cook enough food to feed 3 entire dorms for a week. Jamil frequently tries to get Kalim to relax, because he just wants him to be happy, but Kalim then reminds him that they're at NRC to study. (I already talked about Kalim in a previous post but I'll copy paste it here too)
In this AU, Kalim is much stricter, much more focused and MUCH more responsible. He studies rigorously and insisted on actually working hard to earn his position as Housewarden instead of his family buying the position for him. He’s very sharp, quite intelligent, and is annoyed by his naïve servant and his carefree attitude, who keeps following him around.
Leona is a menace, playful, optimistic and cunning, but he also puts a lot of work into his dorm and school. He knows he has to work had to achieve his goals and he knows that he has a lot of responsibilities. He values hard work.
Ruggie is the complete opposite to Leona though. He is lazy, quick to irritate, and forces lower-classmen to do his work for him because he just wants to sleep. Ruggie is a terrible student, never showing up for class or duties and never putting in any effort. He feels like no matter what he does or how hard he works, he'll never make any changes and his life won't ever get better anyways, especially with a high-and-mighty prince as his Housewarden. He thinks that nothing he does is of any use , so why bother at all, right?
Thanks for reading this word vomit, reblogging would be appreciated lol

The Foreigner {Haikyuu Boys x Reader}
This is the first Haikyuu story I have ever written. I hope you'll enjoy it.
~~~~~~
First Day At Karasuno
~~~~~~~~~~
Your heart races as you look up at the sign that says Karasuno. You're once again at a different school in a different country. You sigh as you look at the building, "Here we go again. New school and new students I have to deal with."
Your grip on your bag tightens as you make your way to the school entrance. You quickly notice how everyone is staring at you as you walk through the halls. They obviously never seen a student from another country before. You try to ignore them as you look for your classroom. I still haven't fully mastered Japanese yet. You squint as you look at the signs trying to make out what they're saying. Until you hear a voice from behind...
"Do you need help?"
You turn to look at who spoke to you and see a boy with orange hair looking at you with a big smile on his face. He suddenly turns red when he sees you looking at him. "Yes, I'm looking for my class. Do you know where this room is?"
You show him the piece of paper with your classroom number on it and he looks at it. "So, you're a second year?"
"From what I understand. The schools here do things differently from the schools in the country I come from."
"Oh? What country are you from?"
"America." You watch the boy's eyes widen as they sparkle with amusement and excitement.
"THAT'S SO COOL!!"
"Not to seem rude, but could you help me find my classroom? I don't want to be late on my first day."
"Oh, yeah, sorry. Follow me, you're actually on the first year's floor so I'll show you where the second year's floor is."
"Thank you, um..."
"Hinata, Shoyo."
"L/n, Y/n, but you can just call me Y/n, I'm not used to people calling me by my last name."
"Okay."
You follow him as he leads you to the correct floor you need to be on. Once you get onto the second year's floor, Hinata sees a boy he recognizes, "Ennoshita!" You see the other boy turn and walk toward you guys. You notice the blush that appears on his cheeks when he looks at you.
"Hey, Hinata. What are you doing on this floor and who is this?"
"This is Y/n, she's new to our school and got lost looking for her classroom. She's a second year," he looks over at you. "This is Ennoshita, he's also a second year. He can help you find your classroom."
Ennoshita looks over at you, "What classroom are you in?" You show him the paper with your classroom number on it and he smiles. "That's my classroom, I can show you where it is. In fact, it seems you have all of my classes so I can show you to each one."
You smile at him as you feel relieved, "Thank you! I would really appreciate that!"
You thank Hinata with a bow, which you're still trying to get the hang of, and you follow Ennoshita to your classroom. You proceed with the first half of the day being introduced to each of your new classrooms and the students in them, with Ennoshita showing you the way to each one like he said he would. Along the way you met Kinoshita, Nishinoya, and Tanaka since some of your classes were with them as well, Kinoshita also had all the same classes as you.
You had a bit of a hard time understanding some of the stuff but the boys were always willing to help. You were surprised that they were willing to help someone that they barely knew but you were thankful that they did. You were in the last class before lunch with all four boys and you could feel your stomach rumbling. I now regret not eating all that much for breakfast, but I was too nervous about my first day to eat all that much. But now I'm really hungry.
When you hear the chime you turn to Ennoshita who is sitting right next to you. "Please tell me that's the lunch chime."
You could hear all four boys chuckle before Ennoshita replied, "Yes, that was the lunch chime. Would you like to eat with us and our friends?"
"Sure! I would love to!" You couldn't help but be thrilled that you were invited to eat lunch with some of the students, you thought you were gonna be eating lunch by yourself, feeling awkward and out of place.
You arrived at the school about three months into the school year and they're getting ready to have their summer vacation, so you know that all the students already have their friend groups and are familiar with each other.
"Awesome! We'll walk you to the cafeteria," Tanaka says as you all leave the classroom.
The five of you make your way to the cafeteria and when you get there you see Hinata run up to you. "Y/n! Are you going to be eating with us?"
"Yes."
He cheers before leading you to the table where everyone is sitting. You see a few other boys and two girls sitting at the table. "Hey, guys, this is Y/n. She's a new student here from another country," Nishinoya announced after you guys reached the table.
"She's from America!" Hinata added and you could hear the excitement in his tone. You don't understand why he's so fascinated with the fact that you're from America, but you shrug it off.
You watch Tanaka run over to a black-haired girl and hug her as he peppers her with kisses while telling her how much he missed her. At the same time, Hinata runs over to a blonde girl and hugs her before kissing her. You smile when you see the girl's face turn completely red.
"Welcome, Y/n." You hear the voice and turn to look at the boy with silver hair who is talking to you with a sweet smile. "Please, sit down. I'm Sugawara."
"I'm Daichi. Nice to meet you."
You smile at them as you sit down, with Nishinoya sitting right next to you. The boy has been trying to stay attached to you since he met you. Everyone introduces themselves to you individually. "It's nice to meet all of you. Um, is there some sort of poly relationship stuff going on?"
Sugawara chuckles, "There is, actually. Asahi and Tanaka are both dating Kiyoko, and she also has one other boyfriend at a different school."
Daichi chimes in, "Hinata, Kageyama, Tsukishima, and Yamaguchi are all dating Yachi."
"So, having poly relationships is allowed here?"
"Yes," Suga replied.
"Well, ain't that somethin'. Are the boys dating each other too or...?"
"No, they're just good friends who decided to share the girl that they're all interested in," Sugawara replied.
"Kiyoko and Yachi agreed to it so they just went for it," Daichi added.
You ate your lunch as you talked to them some more, getting to know them. You perked up when you found out they were all part of a volleyball club. "I love volleyball! Mind if I come watch you guys practice after school?"
"Not at all," Daichi responds.
"We can even see about getting you in as another manager if you would like," Kiyoko starts speaking. "I'm currently training Yachi to be the club manager, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have one more."
"That would be great! I would love that!" You said excitedly. For the first time in a long time, you felt joy and excitement, and you actually looked forward to something.
~~~~~~
Later on in the day, after school ended, the boys made their way to the gym for practice. "How are things going with Michimiya?" Sugawara asked Daichi.
Daichi's face turns red at the thought of his girlfriend, "Pretty well. We both still get a little awkward around each other but we're still making it work. You seem to like that new girl already."
Now it was Sugawara's turn to blush, "I always heard that American girls were pretty but she's just gorgeous."
"Hey, guys. Is the gym this way?" You greet the two boys as you catch up to them. Sugawara stiffens for a second as he wonders if you heard him. But he quickly relaxed.
"Yeah. The gym is this way, you can follow us," Daichi responds as he tries not to laugh at his friend. You follow them not noticing the blush on Suga's face.
Sugawara clears his throat before speaking, "So, Y/n, what brought you to Japan?"
"Um..." What was the story I was supposed to tell? Oh, that's right... "My parents sent me here to experience what it was like to attend another school in a different country."
"You're here by yourself?" Daichi asked with sorrowful eyes. You tried your best to keep a smile on your face but the boys could tell you were trying to hide a sad expression.
"No, I'm here with my butler who's acting as my guardian. He's looking after me."
"Are you okay?" Sugawara asked you.
"Just fine. I just wish that my parents and little brother could be here to experience this with me."
"They stayed in America?" Daichi asked.
"Yeah... Pretty much." Your heart aches with each word you say, and each thought you have of them. I miss them so much.
"Here's the gym," Daichi announced and you immediately shoved all the depressing thoughts out of your head as your face lit up.
"Y/n! You came!" Hinata shouts excitedly after seeing you enter the gym.
You look over at him, "Hi, Hinata!"
Hinata gives you a big smile and you smile back. He reminds me so much of my little brother.
Nishinoya suddenly appears in front of you, "Y/n! I'm so glad you actually came!"
You giggle, "Hi, Nishinoya."
So cute! Nishinoya says to himself as he tries to keep himself from pouncing on you.
Daichi sighed when he saw that Hinata and Kageyama were still avoiding each other. "They still haven't made up yet."
"It's gonna take time. We just need to let them work things out," Sugawara told him.
"Did something happen between them?" You ask them.
"Not long ago they got into a big fight, and they haven't spoken to each other since," Sugawara explained.
"Hello. Who might you be?" A blonde-haired guy asks you. You assume he's the coach.
"Hello. I'm Y/n L/n. The boys said that it was alright if I watched practice."
Kiyoko walks over to you two, "I also told her that we could see about making her another manager if she wishes to become one."
"Sounds good to me, the more the merrier. I'm Coach Ukai by the way. Do you know anything about volleyball or will we have to teach you?"
"I used to be on a team in middle school, and I played some for the first two years in high school back in America."
"Awesome! You'll fit right in then," Sugawara says with a smile.
"Alright, let's start with practicing our spikes!" Coach Ukai shouted to the players.
Kiyoko looks over at you and hands you two pieces of paper. "Here's the form to sign to become the team manager, and we're getting ready to go to a week-long training camp so here's the paper for your guardian to sign so you can go too."
Wow! My first day here and already I've been invited to join the Boys Volleyball Club and go to a training camp! This is exciting! Hopefully, Danny will let me go. "Thanks!" You respond as you take the papers. You watch them start their practice as you wonder if your guardian will even let you go to this training camp, you're not sure if he'll even like the fact that you joined the volleyball club.
KOTLC Miraculous AU (pt. 3)
Part one;
Part two;
Nino: Jensi OKAY SO MY REASONING; the part that Nino plays is a fun friend who's totally detached from Adrien's modelling, upper-class life. So I ran into an issue with Keefe being both Nino and Chloe. (NO KEEFE BEING THE CHLOE DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEIR FRIENDSHIP WILL END, FITZ WILL END UP WITH MULTIPLE BEST FRIENDS AND PLEASE READ FIRST PART FOR MORE DETAILS ON CHLOE KEEFE) There's also like. no other male main character that's even got anything other than Wylie. (and no offense to Wylie. He's cool I just permanently have him being at least 5 years older than the oldest of the main main cast mentally so it's hard thinking of him as anything but that and thus it's kinda awkward) so this is a chance to flesh out Jensi more!! He's also like, the kid who talks to people quickly and is really friendly, so I figured he'd be a good fit.
As for the rest of the characters, there's...welp this is the end. Mainly because I can't really find any other 'roles' they can fulfil since I've done the mains already. So they'll backfill, but I'll try to give them their own arcs as well.
For the adult characters, Sophie will be adopted by Edaline and Grady in the beginning already. They run an extremely successful bakery with multiple outlets across Paris. also should Jolie still be dead or be an older sister figure to Sophie? for funsies (and also because Amy's in a coma in the AU)
Gabriel: Alden. Yall knew this was coming the MOMENT I put Fitz as Adrien.
Felix: Alvar. HEAR ME OUT. ALVAR BEING MORE LIKE A DISTANT COUSIN (because reasons I haven't figured out yet) than older brother BECAUSE OF HOW OFTEN HE'S AWAY. Alvar returning and stirring Fitz into further rebellion (and making Alden remember why he threatened to disown his oldest son and failure) Alvar having his own agenda, that both lines up and collides with the heroes' (protecting Fitz, and then Biana when she returns)
Also just to clarify; my in-the-drafts AU is not season 1, season 2, season 3. Season 1 is mainly filler, and while I'm planning to use the 'villain of the week' eps turned into actual character development, I'm just trying my best. I also, plainly, just do not want to write 26/(maybe more including s2 eps) chapters just being recolors of the same episode with Sophie and Fitz's names over Mari and Adrien's. that is a rabbit hole I have seen many fall into and I don't think I could stand being that plotless (sorry)
Finally, depending on how much of the filler I cut, I'm looking at the entire story spanning about maybe two years at most. (keep in mind I am trying to avoid s4 and s5 entirely. just. no. I cannot draw out a reveal scene that long I'm trying to plan it in conjunction when Sophie and Fitz finally successfully hunt down the verse Master Fu)
[D&D PLAYTEST] Pleasant surprise: 5.5 is actually getting good! And in combat I can FINALLY do something more exciting than "hit it again"
So this was my biggest issue with 5e: when I play a character who's good at hitting things, as opposed to flinging spells at things, I want to do cool shit! I love tactical combat, and I can't stand it when "I hit it again" is the only option of a martial character. Everyone should have options, but especially the Rogue. (I'm biased, yes, but the Rogue is conceptually the one class that fights dirty.) And disappointingly, not even the Swashbuckler got manoeuvres in 5e. For everyone other than Battle Masters and monks with Stunning Strike, our only options in 2014 were a measly Shove / Grapple / Disarm IN PLACE of an attack (for many of us, our only attack), and that was WITH optional DMG features. And Tasha's additions were only a marginal improvement.
You couldn't impose conditions with an attack, which, from a simulation aspect, is just silly. Any two-bit caster could do the craziest shit with spells, but an epic level martial couldn't even say "I hit 'em so hard or so deftly that they got a headache". For the most part, they could only say "I hit it again" and deal damage. And I hate that. It's boring. I even had an unfinished homebrew project of Called Shots, where you could spend a resource to do interesting shit with your attacks (give 'em disadvantage, make 'em dazed, reduce speed, that sort of thing). For Rogues, that resource was Sneak Attack dice. And guess what! In the latest version of the 5.5 playtest, WE GET THAT!
Can I get a fuck yeah, and also a fucking finally.
It's not an automatic win button, and that's good! I don't want win buttons (that's also boring), I want options. Cunning Strike is situationally useful, and that's ideal: if it's always good, you'd do it every time (so why isn't it a standard rule?), and if it's always bad, you'd never do it (so why does it exist at all?). If it's potentially good, depending on the situation, it means I get to THINK what I'm gonna do on my turn, and that's such a joy.
For years now, the only combat decisions my Rogues made in 5e were about movement/positioning, and how to get advantage. And co-ordinating with the others, which always happens, I mean it's a group game. But I had very little to contribute in that department other than flanking, I usually just waited for THEM to help ME to get advantage or something.
With this feature (which I'll be stealing as is, regardless of what happens to the playtest, or if I'm gonna adopt 5.5 as a whole or not), I can set up moves for others, I can impose conditions, so many things. Plus, it's customisable. Now that this basic framework is in place, anyone can fiddle with it and come up with new effects that fit their game and style. (I am NOT in favour of perfect rulesets that cover all bases, needs, and preferences, since that's an impossible and silly thing to ask. I am in favour of solid frameworks, that can be easily tweaked and built upon.) So I am ecstatic. I don't have to hit it again every time! Holy shit!
This is not a blanket endorsement of "One D&D" (I'll keep calling it 5.5, thankyouverymuch). It's still a work in progress, I haven't even read all of it in yet, and I do have issues with it, big and small. (And if my favourite class was the Monk, I'd be thumbs down right now: this one needs a lot of work, oof.) But with Weapon Mastery rules (another interesting development for martial characters), and better feats, and with this enormous improvement, I feel that some of the fundamental problems I had with 5e get... kinda solved. The new Rogue simply KICKS ASS. The whole class, not just Cunning Strike, it's a huge improvement. [Go read it, here's the PDF link.]
It's not overpowered, mind you. In terms of damage output it still lags behind Fighters and Barbarians and whathaveyou (which I'm perfectly okay with: Rogues are experts and skillmonkeys, they got stuff to do out of combat, meanwhile Barbarians have ONE JOB so they better be scary good at it), and full casters still slay. It just does cool shit, and I ask you: why do we even bother with the fuckton of combat rules in D&D if not to do cool shit?
See treantmonk's video below for a nice breakdown of the new Rogue. It's a few months old, and a couple of things have been revised since then: there's no "Arcane" spell list any more, so the Arcane Trickster presumably reverts to the Wizard spell list, and the Weapon Mastery rules are slightly different now. But they're very minor changes, and all the conclusions, with which I wholeheartedly agree, stand: this is simply FANTASTIC.
I convinced our Delta Green game master to have a play-by-post (basically text roleplay) section in our game's server and uhhhhh maybe I've been having too much fun with it. Writing is faster than drawing comics, what can I say?
(Long ramble about writing stories below hehe oops)
While we're here! A bit about writing: I like writing! I've written for loger than I've drawn for (because school). I think I'm better at writing than drawing for that reason (I'm more confident at least). I've written short stories. I've written short stories about TTRPG things. I've also written a ~100k word novel by hand for 2 years. While writing it, I had 'writing class' (technically AS/A level Ennglish Language classes). It was the only class I had confidence in and high expectations for.
With those 2 combined, I burnt out pretty quick LOL. Specifically, I had a big perfectionism issue because of the high expectations I had from my teacher and especially myself -- it was the one thing I knew excelled at in school, so I better do it well! After I was done with the novel and A levels, I was supposed to edit the novel. It's been years and I haven't done it yet, and I wouldn't write non-assignment stories (except 2) until now. Writing became more nerverwracking than it was fun, so why would I?
To get back to the PBP thing: I've been in a campaign that was fully PBP. With my mindset being the way it is, hey! This is just one big writing exercise, so I ran along with that and had fun with it. I saw how some players would make their own PBP and essentially monologue/have a scene only with their PC. That was cool to see.
And now, my current Delta Green campaign (tagged 'Helvetia'). Hrothgar (guy in drawing) and his kids were ported over from a previous D&D campaign (the fully PBP one!), so the crew had a very well defined background already. Of course I get tons of drawing ideas for them, except I don't have the time to draw them all (compsci hard). But since the server has a PBP section, I had like 2 weeks to kill between session 0 and 1, and I was bursting with ideas... I made a lot of solo PBPs that were essentially short stories.
It didn't quite hit me until some time ago, but the PBPs actually made me enjoy writing again -- enjoy it a lot more, in fact! I think the format of Discord threads and messages removed most perfectionism tendencies I had. I just had to fire the story away, message by message. It didn't have to be amazing, and it was fun! (Also I really don't know how to shut up with them LOL)
I'll definitely be cleaning these PBPs up and posting them here as stories. Some of them are just silly, fun, slice-of-life character sketches. (These were the stories I wrote after my novel... and yes, they were about my other set of Delta Green characters LMAO) (and I've posted them here under pawsedswrite btw!) But some I see as legitamite short stories that I would edit more heavily and present as a short story. They were the kinds I could see myself writing on a document rather than on Discord.
Well, I lied. 'I would edit' is false. I have already edited one, because I spent like 5-6h writing this one PBP (oops) instead of writing the draft for my short story class/elective (oops 2). I joked to my two friends saying that I could just submit it as my assignment. Apparently, they both really liked it and said the dialogued slapped. So I did!
I procrastinated like hell on it though, because I was very nervous to go back into the PBP with an axe to edit it. Being in a writing class where nearly everyone else has been formally studying writing for some years kinda puts some pressure on ya!
Like the last assignment (which I'll post here after editing), I had a lot of worries. But the feedback and grade I got from my last assignment, the peer review I got from the current one, and also the support from those two friends (shoutout @katastrofish <3) made me feel more confident in myself. And also the fact that I had a lot of fun editing the PBP!
Uhhh this ramble was way longer than expected LMFAO if you've made it this far, damn, thanks for reading! If you also write or have similar experiences, feel free to share em. And have a good day!
(bonus POV editing)
ah, thank you for the luck!! I'll need it, cause human anatomy is a terrible, no good class :( I like the animal anatomy course more, but that's not saying much, considering I like my history of theatre class more then human anatomy too (incase your wondering why I'm taking a theatre class- I needed to be better then my grandpa, and he has a masters, so I'm double majoring and getting a masters) ANYWAY I would love some yanderes in these trying times, although I think if they got isekai'd here half my acting class would freak out because the show counterparts would look partially like their actors, which is really funny because now I'm imaging these people from like, medieval times being surrounded by people taking pictures and asking for autographs of them, although I don't think they'd like most of my class simply because from what I've experienced personally, once you fake romance for a show you are just bonded to that person forever, so the usual cast is pretty touchy with each other and I think the yans would hate that, It'd be like
another cast member & me, practically on top of each other cause there wasn't enough seating: so-
the yans: 🤨😒
That's an actual thing that happens btw, I have watched other students walk onto the stage cause they forgot something in the locker room and just side eye the like, three pairs of people smushed together while we're discussing the play/script (depending on how far we are) because we don't have the funding for more chairs
Also yes!! it is an interesting thought!! there's no science or experiments on it (because the multiverse either doesn't exist or isn't proven yet) which means it's so interesting to think about whether we could actually have children with any alternate dimension people- because like, are we even technically the same species? like obviously the hotd cast is technically less evolved then us (and that's even weirder to think about) but even if we were the same level of evolved, wouldn't the magic and presence of dragons throw off our evolution? at least a little? and it's that same thought with literally every other franchise I see with differences in the world- could I even count as the same species? because we don't actually know if our bodies function the same way- we assume so, but take like, dc for example? If I compared a regular person from our world to a gothamite, the gothamite will look different on the base that they've been relentlessly exposed to different chemicals made to kill/drive someone insane, to the point it's just like. in the water?? and that would just kill someone from our world, so are we the same?? a different subspecies? would that imply that every world with something different about it that could effect evolution has a new human subspecies? I have so many thoughts and absolutely no scientific research about any of them because it's probably just not real
-☀️ (I enjoy popping into your ask box and being a little present, cause you bring up situations I haven't thought of before and their fun to play with- also for some reason every ask I send you is just, incredibly long)
The shade to human anatomy reminds me of the year I decided not to take it (everyone said it was an easy class because the teacher was chill) and that year someone else replaced that teacher with one who wanted 10-15 page detailed reports on the regular. (I dodged a poisonous arrow with that one.)
That's an experience unique to theater.
The yanderes would definitely be displeased. Most of them enjoy plays, but you touching other people—? so casually? No!
Swords will be drawn.
So unfortunate. Theater is often underfunded. Throughout my schooling years the theater department always lacked basic funding.
I didn't think about the gothamite thing. You're right. Kind of like the mutated animals and plants that live in the remnants of Chernobyl.
scientific thoughts.
insert Doctor Who soundtrack.
Thank you, little sun emoji. :)
You are always a delight! And I enjoy your long asks. They just take me a moment to process.
so i got thru a lot of the grymforge stuff. still haven't done the adamantine demon dude yet - i will circle back once i get some stuff i missed earlier, but i did end up fighting nere. i was going to side with him just to avoid his legendary action, but i can't not help the gnomes. even as a duergar i feel bad just leaving them. i blame barcus lol. so i got half the duergar mercs on my side, rolled up to fight nere and it actually went really well. i targeted him initially, but once he starts his legendary action response i switched focus to the mind controlling duergar and then when nere dropped his legendary action i had battle master lae'zel and open fist monk karlach beat the crap out of him. then my gloomstalker duergar took out the others from the high ground. it worked really well that i feel a lot more confident tracking back to the goblin camp to deal with ragzlin and minthara. i need to youtube videos on fighting the spectator because i really want to get the mourning frost staff for gale. right now i have him using the staff of arcane blessing from the wizard tower, but the frost damage from the other staff is just super OP. especially when paired with that hat in balthazar's secret room in act 2 and the necklace in the inquisitor's room at the gith creche. though i am contemplating making someone a draconic sorcerer (either wyll or astarian since i don't really know what to do with them at this point). and there's a lot of really great builds for a ice sorcerer online just dealing insane damage. i still want someone in my party to be a paladin. i initially had wyll as 2 warlock/3 paladin, but level 5 seems too early game for multi-classing. i think level 6 is better. but i don't know if stats wise paladin works for him - unless i remove warlock completely and go all in on paladin? i could respec him completely to suit it, but as of now his charisma is really high which would work with a warlock/sorcerer build. but i'm still unsure because astarian is super useless right now with my duergar as a gloomstalker. i changed him to a swords bard, but i'm not sold on this for him. the only ones i'm happy with are my duergar, lae'zel as a battle master, karlach as a monk, gale as a abjuration wizard, shadowheart as a tempest cleric. and i still have halsin, jaheira, and minsc to recruit and idk what to do with them either. i know that's a ways off and i could literally die at any moment so why bother worrying, but i'm a overplanning anxious nutjob so i can't not think 50 steps ahead lol.
Not to paladin post, but I do think a pure paladin build is the best build rather than splitting it. You could do bladelock for Wyll- I know a lot of people live and die by that build.
I would reroll Halsin into an Oath of Ancients, honestly- once you get him. Or knock out Minthara rather than kill her and then use her, if you want. Shes Oath of Vengence which is my personal favorite build because its pretty hard to break your oath (SO LONG AS YOURE NOT PICKING A LOCK!!!).
Also I want you to know I took YOUR advice and told M where the grove was because you said the battle was cinematic. I always just kill them in the temple but instead I told Minthara where the grove was and then went and got Halsin.
Zevlors speech (I'm playing as a tiefling) had me all choked up like hell YEAH we're a family. And of course right when the battle ends, Halsin strolls in looking serious and big [redacted] so I appreciate that
I honestly feel a little like an asshole listing my favourite things. Like who the fuck am I? But also I want to review and talk about some of the stuff from the year so here it is! I guess it's ended up a list of what's been most impactful rather than my favourite. What's a favourite anyway? Lists in no particular order.
Books
Picnic at Hanging Rock by Joan Lindsay - My brother-in-law has been telling me to read this for like a year+ and all I'd heard about it was this podcast on the movie, so I was like meh. Eventually I guess, since I like my brother-in-law. But the book is so good; it made me realize that I'd never really engaged with Australian fiction in a major way because this is a book About the Australian project of imposing English civilization on a landscape that they haven't fucked into a garden.
Tenth of December by George Saunders - When my book club picked this book for our short story collection I was so annoyed. More literary fiction? I'll read it, I GUESS. But these short stories whipped ass so hard that it made me return to reading other respected fiction that I had dismissed. There were stories I enjoyed reading less than others but all of them have stuck around with me.
The Reformatory by Tananarive Due - My book club actually read her debut, The Between, but I misread which book we were supposed to be. They were meh on her debut but I adored The Reformatory, which is a book that makes you clutch the blankets with anxiety for the characters you honestly like and bare your teeth in anger for our common American past of horrors. I recommend reading her author's note/acknowledgements too.
Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez, trans Megan McDowell - Speaking of horror that gripped me by the short hairs, Our Share of Night was a hard read but one I couldn't put down (and lost me sleep cuz I read until 2AM). The slowly unfolding understanding of the horrors that Juan is trying to make sure that Gaspar can escape, and Gaspar's eventual attempts to understand who he is and who his father is in their wake is deeply moving; dark and queer and wrenching. I didn't go in knowing much about Argentinian history, but it had a lot to say on the subject, and I should probably find an Argentinian perspective on the book...
Our Band Could Be Your Life by Michael Azzerad - I did read quite a bit of non-fiction this year, but nothing gave me a deeper and more practical understanding of the world I live in and my own history as Our Band Could Be Your Life. A history of the hard edge punk scene of the 80s, the book taught me about being a musician in general--something I've never thought too hard about before--and about our punk predecessors in particular. Full of people just living, creating, and touring in their communities with love and hate and drugs and straight edge and leftists and nazis and poverty and middle class comfort.
Honorable Mentions to Bury Your Gays by Chuck Tingle, a book that's approaching the fear of AI right to me, and to Water Outlaws by SL Huang. Oh, and Inherent Vice by Thomas Pynchon! If you ever want to start thinking harder about the 70s...
Film/TV
I Saw the TV Glow (2024) - Have you ever seen a movie and said, "Wow this director is talking directly to me?" Horrifying and sad, and yet despite the tragedy of the end, oddly hopeful--like it's saying, this doesn't have to be you. the world is so hard but if you do what Owen can't then maybe you can break free
Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) - What I've always wanted from Twin Peaks: an unflinching look at the horror of it's original premise. That the weirdness and surreality of the story are sometimes the only way to look into so deep betrayal, so wretched an action. Everything that Sheryl Lee does here is phenomenal.
Paprika (2006) - Honestly I don't hear people quite talk about Paprika with same reverence that they do about some of Kon's other work. Like, "yeah yeah it's his final master work, we got it." But this movie pulls you so deeply into the dream, that it feels like reality could split apart beneath you for an hour when you're done. There is magic in the world--and that's beautiful, and amazing, and dangerous as hell.
The People's Joker (2022) - Personally I don't think you can really engage as a full Batman fan until you've seen Vera Drew's take on the world. I might still be only a small part of the way through my project to do all Batman media ever, but Drew's direct queering of canon, her reinterpretation of Batman as not the center of the goddamn universe, her way of expressing herself through the medium of canon--it feels crucial to any of us fangirls to at least see what she is trying to do.
Love Lies Bleeding (2024) - I Saw the TV Glow might have been speaking to me directly, but Love Lies Bleeding was exactly for me. From the director of Saint Maud, I should've known to expect grotesquerie and horror and yet I was delighted and shocked by their moments in this gay Americana love story. The human body is capable of horrors and of horrors being visited upon, and yet also so hot. The family must be escaped, but escaping it will only draw us deeper into similarity with the ones we hate the most.
Honorable Mentions to Monkey Man (2024), Tar (2022), The Green Knight (2021), House (1977), We Are Lady Parts Season 1, and Twin Peaks: The Return.
#my stuff#my fanstuff#my only hot take here is for people's joker which feels right#also it's technically a 2022 release since that's when it first premiered but it only got wide release this year#apparently you can watch it on Mubi??? way to get me to consider mubi as much as literally all of the ads i get for it in my online stuff
get to know me tag from @heffer-wen this is a good one!
tagging: @perfectpiety @echthr0s @colorsofmyseason @kvaradonaa @protect-daniel-james @thundercrack @arsenalgbt @steeple-sinderby-wanderers @lamperry4ever (this is all optional of course!!!)
1. Do you make your bed?
I only properly make my bed when I change my sheets, but I can't stand to have the bed looking janky when i come home, so I wrestle with my thicc blanket until it's decently even and neat on the bed, and if the pillows have gone wild I'll straighten them out a little. if any of my over 9000 stuffed animals are on the floor I'll pick them up of course.
2. Favourite number?
24! my birthday, and a nice solid good number, can fit lots of other numbers into it. 17 has been an Important number for my bff and me, and I have a religion based fondness for 18...but 24 it is.
3. What's your job?
my job is very cool and specific and I love it, but it's not one I would ever want to mix with my online persona for various reasons. in fact I've always worked in an "industry" that I think should never mix with my nsfw ways on here. always happy to talk about it in private!
4. If you could go back to school would you?
oh hale to the FUCK no. I hate school. I haven't liked school since I graduated high school. my brain can't be made to think like that and do so much work to other people's specifications--and then there's sitting in class and having to listen to other people talk, I couldn't give less of a shit if I tried! I'm a voracious self directed learner--I want to learn something new like, every second--but this doesn't translate well into a school setting.
unfortunately--a job I think would be really cool to have, I'd have to get a master's and certification, and while I think I'd be great at the job, I'd be right shit at the kind of work the degree requires you to do to pass. (I could easily do the job with good mentoring and maybe like...one course, but that's how so many things are.) Maybe if I marry rich I'd go back! Frank lampard step the fuck up!
5. Can you parallel park?
I could do it just to pass my driver's test and have done it like. twice since. I'm terrible 😭 I have visual-spatial-perceptual whatever deficits and just can't do it. I also have a spot missing from my peripheral vision on my left side so parking on that side is even more confusing. my sister however is great at those things and yet she also can barely parallel park, you should see the two of us try to do it together, it's a full on yakety sax comedy. the WORST is here in the city, people stop on the street and give you unsolicited advice while you park and this gives me so much anxiety that I can't even remember what to do.
6. Do you think aliens are real?
not really? I suppose there's sentient life somewhere but is it likely to be humanoid? I'm terrified of space (I'm one of those would rather go to the bottom of the ocean than outer space freaks) so I try not to think about it
7. Can you drive a manual car?
what to heck,,,,,,,,,,,,of course I can't 🇺🇸 shamed by having to pay more to rent an automatic when I've driven in Europe
8. Guilty pleasure?
disregarding my dietary restrictions? I also have the bad habit of reading what scents my hot favs wear and then buying cheap samples. today one arrived that I forgot I'd ordered so now my wrists smell like chanel allure. I'm indifferent? it smells like Ladies' Perfume
what else...idk, I'm not too guilty about my pleasures really
9. Tattoos?
none--I have a couple of ideas, but have never been tempted to actually do it?
10. Favourite colour?
black and pink!
11. Favourite type of music?
I like things that are loud and repetitive and insistent. sometimes screechy. I like listening to other languages. my favorite instrument is the bagpipes (how do I say that in a grammatically correct way ffs) if that helps! will always go for: good rap/hip hop, 80s thrash metal, eastern european/balkan folk music, techno (the darker and more berghainy the better), other weird electronica, the beatles, most things that came out of the 80s
12. Do you like puzzles?
the kind with pieces? those are fun, I just don't have any room to spread one out. other kinds, like logic and shit, absolutely not, my brain doesn't work like that at all
13. Any phobias?
insects, and the main one: food contamination, but not the kind you're thinking--I definitely am more anxious than the average person about the food I eat being contaminated, but what the phobia actually is is more like...places where food shouldn't be being contaminated by bits of food...It's very specific and I've always had it but it's getting worse as I get older. like, imagine if you go into a restaurant and there's a couple of crumbs on the chair, or like, a bit of dirt on the underside of the waiter's tray. you'll just brush them off, right? or like, just not care about the bottom of a tray? I feel sick to my stomach and my heart is racing a bit just imagining this. what a privilege!
I'm also fucking terrified of being alone in elevators, but I'm not sure if that counts as a phobia? (I'm afraid of getting stuck in one by myself--as long as there's another person in there I don't care lol)
14. Favourite childhood sport?
swimming was my only one--I begged for lessons, started young, and was pretty good, did a swim team and everything. otherwise I am horrible at sports--I can't run (never could), and have no hand-eye coordination (did some occupational therapy at age 18 but it was Too Late), and again, those visual perceptual spatial issues! I wasn't terrible at floor hockey and volleyball in gym class I guess. footy was my worst 😭 in 8 years of gym I scored one goal--an own goal
15. Do you talk to yourself?
Not really.
16. What movies do you adore?
hmmm...I am not a huge movies person, but here's a list:
mulholland drive
mary poppins
the producers (mostel/wilder, 1967)
willy wonka & the chocolate factory (gene wilder version ONLY)
little miss sunshine
moulin rouge
cabaret
my cousin vinny
run lola run
y tu mamá también
the sound of music
chicago
kill bill vol. 1
cidade de deus
diarios de motocicleta
buena vista social club (not without its problematic side, but the musicians/music is so joyous)
the wedding singer
anklaget/the accused (weird danish movie that I don't think anyone i know has heard of?)
le dîner de cons
kamchatka
imagine me and you
ghostbusters 2016 (i will DIE on this hill)
brokeback mountain
team america: world police
rear window
amadeus
the crow
the incredibles
spaceballs
a shot in the dark
airplane!
romeo + juliet
school of rock
american psycho
uncut gems
rebecca
dial m for murder
17. Tea or coffee?
coffee! please. tea makes me feel a bit sick
18. First thing you wanted to be growing up?
I wanted to be an opera singer and a "lady mover" (we moved twice in the span of like, 2 and a half years when I was little)
You have expresed your opinion on the Superman robots, but what about one robot in particular: Kelex? Little has been donw with him. Do you think he is just a foot note or he could be more?
I actually did talk about Kelex in my Fortress post!
Kelex is Superman’s equivalent to Alfred, but he needs more of a personality. My take on Kelex is that whereas Alfred is Bruce’s prim and proper British butler that grounds Batman, Kelex should be Kal’s snooty and uptight French butler that elevates Superman. Kelex speaks with a “Kryptonopolis” accent which is basically an upper class Parisian accent. He looks down on Earth and humanity, encouraging Kal to take more pride in his Kryptonian side, but does support Kal’s actions as Superman, viewing Kal as being more active in defending the planet whereas Jor was too passive. Rather than restraining him to a single robot body, Kelex should be the AI that runs everything in the Fortress, the “soul” of the fortress so to speak. You could say he is the Fortress of Solitude, the robots and mechanical appendages scattered throughout the Fortress we see, merely being his metaphorical hands with which to interact with the physical world. Kelex and Kara get along wonderfully, Kelex loathes Conner and Kenan for being troublemakers, respects Steel for being similar to Jor-El, and sees Jon as the heir and a chance to correct the misfortune of Kal not knowing much about Krypton until he was an adult. Kelex and Lois frequently are at odds since she wants to know all of the Fortress’ secrets, and Kelex has orders from Kal to keep some information private even from Lois.
Still like this take. Should add that his snootiness is expressed via his belief that humanity is doomed to destroy themselves because obviously they're inferior to Krypton in every way, yet are seemingly set to share Krypton's fate of destroying their planet. Our technology is primitive, our society is backwards (we haven't even progressed past nation-states!), and it has taken the Last Son of Krypton to bail us out multiple times. But hey, if Kal wants to make saving humanity his science project, so be it. Kelex knows better than to try to argue with the famous House El stubbornness and thus supports his master in Superman's endeavors.
Only thing I'd add is that where Alfred tries to reign Batman in, checking Bruce's arrogance and poking holes in his ego via humor, Kelex is Superman's cheerleader. Kelex tells Kal how great Kal is, how he's the heir to the glorious House El, how he shouldn't let those level 3 primitives give him grief when he does something they don't like. Superman obviously finds this a bit disconcerting, but he views Kelex as a sentient being and balks at "reprogramming" him to be less of a flatterer. One thing Kelex and Alfred have in common: their masters may have qualms about lethal force, but they don't. You show up in the Fortress of Solitude uninvited making Kelex deem you a threat, you better hope Superman is around to save your ass because Kelex has no problem vaporizing you, and asking for forgiveness later.
Funny how by up to 10 minutes past 5pm, I was tweaking down a depressive episode, even wrote a suicide note half way. I had texted my fp an hour earlier so him not responding or even reading my texts made me spiral even further. I had browsed painless ways to die and wept and was just spiraling, fast. I had no one to talk to, no reason to even be alive, the guy I'm talking to doesn't seem to want to put in the effort I'm pouring in, I don't know how I feel about my one friend in my course and I couldn't disturb my flatmates with my problems.
I prayed and cried(tearless) and was just generally tweaking so bad I couldn't even escape into sleep. I'm not sure if I even slept for more than 30 minutes without waking up from anxiety.
The trigger was that my uni emailed me saying that they could pull me out and revoke my visa because my fees haven't been paid yet(they have been paid actually,idk what the uni is on) and I'll be deported and UK shii. I'm in my last year, and I've barely passed my other 2 years with 3rd classes and have been working really hard to pass this year. I try to read every night, I put in 3 times more effort into my studies than I ever have (Given my social and mental situation rn). I'm set on passing no matter what it costs me(without cheating or selling y soul or some other extremes), if it makes my parents proud and shows that my dad isn't working like a dog back at home(in Nigeria) to just pay for my fees(I have 2 other siblings in uni who he also pays fees for, I can't even imagine how many loans he has to take and how much of his savings he has dug into.)
[Quick note, I'm the only one schooling in the UK. As of today 1 Pound is 2,119 Naira (currency in Nigeria). My fees are about 23,500 Pounds, and, I'll spare you the maths, in Naira, my dad has to pay up to 50,000,000 Naira. I wish I was joking but that's only my school fees, excluding my spending fees, traveling fees, accommodation fees, and not to talk of my other siblings fees as well. We are middle class Nigerians btw so it's only by God's grace we have made it this far]
It triggered me even more because I knew I've sent an email to the school a few weeks back telling them that my fees have been paid but I got no response now they are threatening me??!? And yes, I also blame myself because after that email I sent all those weeks ago, I completely forgot to follow up with them, again given my emotional circumstances. I'm so scared, I barely managed to make it to third year without getting my visa revoked the first time due to me being in an integrated masters course not not making it into the masters course third year so I had to be dropped to a bachelor's third year(UKIV sucks frr) and now this?!??
Anyways, the depressive episode lasted for hours till around 8-9pm. I'm not sure if I was even asleep or dissociated but I feel okay. Feels like I woke up honestly but I can't remember that period of time, it's fuzzy. Anyways, I'm okay now(my socially acceptable way of saying I feel numb and empty inside) and I am no more suicidal, yayyy.
But my fp left me on read so there's still that, and I'm not sure what tomorrow holds regarding my entire school fees issue so there is still the anxiety looking overhead about that. I just pray my fees have actually reached the school and the school was just not thorough enough 🙏🏽🙏🏽
Also, about to continue my chronic overspending spree on this Bath and body works Japanese cherry blossom perfume. Omg, it smells sooooooo good🤧
MLB AU x SONADOW
What's the result?
A chaotic AU with the most unbearable slow burn of all ages.
Yep, we're doing this. Or at least we will talk about it, because I need to share it with someone. Anyone.
Warning: contains spoilers of MLB movie
So ever since the new movie of MLB came out -btw you should go see it, it's pretty light-hearted and adorable- my head is spinning and thinking what would happen if our two hedgehogs had been instead on the main characters' place, but with their own personalities.
Sonic would take Marinette's role, I haven't thought of a backstory yet, -and no he is not shy and without confidence, he is sly and cocky as ever- but he lives with Tails -when he isn't on one of his trips- and together they attend Chaos High on Green Hill -I'm still planning the settings and the names in my head-
On the other hand, Shadow takes Adrien's role, but unlike him, he's actually moving from his home in Station Square to go live with his best friend, Rouge, for a while, who miraculously lives in Green Hill as the others. And surprise, surprise, Gerald is alive! Does that mean that he is Hawk Moth and that Maria is Emily? To be honest, I'm still debating if Gerald is the real villain, because I want to include GUN in the game as well, but oh man, stuff like that takes time.
For sure though Maria takes Emily's place.
There's a high possibility though that she isn't dead. Just pretty sick. For now at least ;) *cough* I meant, she will be fine!
Tikal is the guardian so she takes the place of Master Fu and there are no kwamies. Yes, that's right. Instead of kwamies -do I even spell that right?- we have chaos, thus and why Tikal is the guardian of them. And instead of having a plethora of them there are only seven of them, each of them bearing a chaos emerald.
So skipping into the plot we have first day of a new year with everyone knowing everyone and Shadow being the new transfer student, who clings to Rouge's side and his personal robotic assistant Omega -yeah we're bringing him because we stan Team Dark!-
Introductions are made and oops, the two hedgies make a brief eye contact while at class. Neither of them shows any interest. Ouch I know, but wait, we have track. That's right. And where Sonic believes that his only rival is Jet here comes Shadow to steal the spotlight with his AIR SHOES, even if Sonic deems them rocket shoes. And just like that the blue blur finally pays attention to the stoic new student. Not as if he's fallen in love, but he is intrigued by him! I mean, have you seen any other running as fast as him?
Note; there are no super powers in this world, but Tails still is the smartest of the group, lol. That's just his nature. However he doesn't know that he can fly with his second tail. That's something that he'll discover later.
Anyways moving on, Hawk Moth -or however I'll remain the character later, because I'm not keeping those names for copyright issues- suddenly awakens the purple emerald, thus and the chao with it that have been lost in the fight that have broke between the echidna race and Tikal is forced to call upon the chaos of the dark blue and red chaos emeralds, named -that's actually a good question, I'm debating on Azul and Shade, but that's just basic? Or nah- Anyways, both chaos don't go well with each other and decide like in the movie to select on their own their champions.
Long story short, because there's no way I'm revealing everything, Azul ends up with Sonic and Shade with Shadow and they both activate their powers -after a lot of convincing by both ends, I know surprise for a specific blue hedgehog but sus- I was thinking that the could say, “Chaos Activate” with their respective chao on the start of the sentence, but working on it. Oh they are on their super forms, when powers activated, because I couldn't think of something better and thus their original abilities are unlocked, a.k.a Sonic's speed and Shadow's manipulation over chaos energy.
So the heroes meet while trying to discover where the corrupted with dark chaos energy is -yep, no akumas either- and they do not get along. Shadow having thought of it more, had already picked a name for his secret identity, named -I'm bad at names, but I was thinking something to do with Chaos, like Chaos Controller, but that's just too big so I'll think of something better-. Sonic soon realises that he still haven't thought of his own name, but then the corrupted arrives and interrupts them.
So they fight, they banter, Sonic haves a panic attack, Shadow almost loses his emerald, but they work it out. But like in the series they forget to cleanse the dark chaos energy something that BOTH Sonic and Shadow are able to do with the power of the chaos emerald.
They both find their way after that, working together, learning from their mistakes. Surprisingly, it is Shadow that finds a name for Sonic. Without even thinking of it too hard. He just calls him something and Sonic likes it so he keeps it.
And here's the moment that you all waited for.
The love matter.
Which takes a LOT OF TIME to finally come.
So to put it simple.
Sonic loves Shadow.
Shadow loves Super Sonic.
-this is where you all start clapping and fangirling-
There I said it. You can all just toy with the idea now, if you haven't thought of this already. And oh they both get refused by the other like the movie. But first is Shadow who declines Sonic and then Super Sonic who declines Super Shadow. Why? Because one thing led to another and Sonic accidentally reveals his like to the other hedgehog. Shadow of course is taken aback, because he didn't expect Sonic to like him. Not that Sonic would like to change anything in their current relationship, because it's perfect as it is. He just wishes to know if Shadow would like to keep it like that and after graduation. Shadow, however, likes Super Sonic and thus declines Sonic. Of course he doesn't express this in a harsh manner. He is considerate of the other's feelings. But Sonic of course is hurting. So imagine the SAME time in the evening to getting asked by Super Shadow, if he would like for their relationship to grow into something more. Sonic just can't and he leaves immediately like he'd done a prior hours ago.
Of course I'm not telling you how they get together or how they overcome this, because where's the fun in that? Don't know, if I'll make it into a fic this idea yet, but feel free to send me asks, if you have any questions.
Furthermore you can even take this idea and turn it into something unique. Just be sure to let me know so I can keep an eye out of it. I wouldn't mind reading an AU like this or seeing art of it.
Thank you for managing to come this far. I am super grateful and hopefully my next posts will not be as big as this one. Be safe and be happy! Gotta love our two hogs.
I finally finished and handed in my thesis on Friday and it felt like such an incredible relief😭 I think I haven't felt so at peace in literal months because it was constantly looming over me but I felt too paralysed with fear to start writing. BUT that's finally over now! I still need to do my final exam now but that's only in October. Also I've started my master's degree programme on Thursday (at the same university that's why I could start despite not actually having my bachelor's degree yet) and I'm actually already looking forward to my classes :D
I feel like it really affected my mental wellbeing during that time though and especially in the last few months I found it much harder to keep in contact with online friends or even just go on social media, I got overwhelmed much more easily and it just felt too exhausting :( I lowkey feel bad for all the self ship postings and art and fanfics that I missed😭 So please, take this as a free pass to come into my inbox and gush about your f/o(s)! I'd love to hear about them🫶
#or tell me something else! like talk about your ocs or something good that happened to you recently :) to include my non-selfship friends#I'll probably answer them tomorrow tho since I also got a bit sick and will go to bed soon#I completely overexerted myself and barely slept the past weak because I was writing my thesis like a madman#I think at some point my immune systeme just couldn't take it anymore#I slept basically the whole day today only got up twice to some rice pudding and soup#it's nothing too bad mostly just an annoying throat ache and feeling a little unwell#I would love to draw or write or work on my cosplays but I think my mum's right that I should take the weekend to rest#I have classes next week so it's probably best if I just chill in bed and watch Hogan's Heroes😌#selnia talks
