🌦️Dark Sun and 🔅Servant Sun

I tried my hand at designing Servant Sun and Dark Sun.

I'm getting more caught up on the lore!! Click underneath for art closeups and more Lore rants and AU idea! Plus, I have sketches and a comic WIP I've been working on.

There will be rambly spoilers to where I am in the Lore.

For Dark Sun I was inspired a lot by the thumbnails, they give him red eyes a lot in the thumbnails and I like the smarmy red eyed look of the guy. Tried to capture his 'regal-holier then thou' attitude in his design. He's still Sun though, so I used OG Sun's palette (my first Sun design!) to reflect the fact they have the same beginnings. I don't trust anything he says but I know something has totally happened to his Moon (I'm really banking on the idea he ATE him/ ATE his intelligence chip) so he carries his Moon's bell and he also repurposed the star pattern of Moon to parade it around as like a symbol his Moon is at his heal. I don't know if I like his final look but I think it's because I gave him dramatically darker shading vs the other Suns.

Servant Sun! Here's my take on him. He's been suffering for over 10000+ years under Lord Eclipse abuse. We saw how he was being punished just because Lore Eclipse was bored! I feel really bad for this Sun, it was hard to draw a design for him. I think despite his servant title Lord Eclipse just keeps him around not only to keep himself sane but also a trophy/slave to show off to Moon and the others in the afterlife. I had this like monologue for SSun basically, "The sound of bells long ago stopped ringing for the daycare attendant turned servant but Lord Eclipse still can hear the sound of metallic chimes when the neurotic servant cleans thanks to his fanciful additions." (aka the chime of chains) He's also got an apron that's falling apart and SSun used random old fabric to patch it up (it wasn't random it was his old clothes). I was really inspired by Meagancandraw's design of Servant Sun!

Here's my AU sketches. I'm planning to clean these up and maybe color them? This is basically just the AU idea that I think Sun is going to somehow get reborn but be a being reborn from star power and negative star power? I don't know if it's possible? He becomes a mix of the two in my AU. I know some current spoilers and basically I know he may be immune to negative star energy? He can also hold Star Power uniquely and it 'taste good to him'. I will never let go of the fact he told Moon it taste nice like dried watermelon. His untrained magical outburst was also compared to be as powerful as Golden Freddy's. There's big theory he's going to die or be sacrificed but I have this idea what if he's essentially remade? idk just rambly thoughts. So yeah, he has a cool new look to go with his magical transformation.

BTW he is very sad cause he can't be near his family in this AU my brain cooked up. He's basically radiation incarnate now <3 His eyes are cracked because they're intensely pouring out Star/Negative Star power. Just a constant pull and push of power circulating in him.

this is the comic idea I have currently. I don't have a ton of motivation so any encouragement to finish this comic idea would be super appreciated! I'm not a comic-type artist so this is out of my comfort zone (I've made a few comics but usually they are pretty janky)

ON TO THE RAMBLES - spoilers BEWARE:

NEW MOON MY BOY PLS YOU ARE HIDING STUFF FROM YOUR FAMILY. BOY NO. HE IS GONNA USE RUIN TO BRING BACK SOLAR?

Blood Moon just took Ruin. Also Dark Sun repaired Ruin after Molten took him to die in the dead dimension?? BOY??? Also, Dark Sun did something to Eclipse??? Bro is plotting. I wish I could get a read on Dark Sun but I don't even know how much of the truth he's been sharing thus far. He has no reason to tell anyone the truth and so far he hasn't hurt anyone just stole a bunch of data from Moon and built a bunker to escape total dimension collapse...He's just a big wild card for me.

Then there's New Moon, He's just actually going crazy after meeting Old Moon. Sun can tell something is wrong with his brother!!! I hope he can help him but spoilers tells me otherwise. The family is trying! Earth heard out Eclipse and Eclipse is getting Earth proof that Moon is currently cray-cray. Lunar is kind of hanging near Sun and Earth because the creator is now actively trying to kidnap him. So much spicy drama.

I don't pay attention much to the Freddy side of the plot but he's also dying?? bro??? What about Francine? The missing mom/wife? Poor Francine's suffering, she needs her mom and dad! I like that Puppet is hanging around her grandchild more it is very sweet. Foxy also got his 'bestfriend' Puppet a house/condo. hmm-Mmmhmm. Definitely no romantic tensions there. Definitely not.

(side bar, I don't ship Kidscove but I do ship the Foxy and Puppet do they have a ship name? Also no hate to Kidscove I just think Foxy treats Sun like a kid a lot. I like the gooseworld Kidscove. Sun laid eggs, so wholesome.)

Lunar is just waiting for news on his trial and I am in suspense hoo boy...Then the stuff with FC being put in a new body and Frank is not happy about it. I def can tell there's big lead up to the astral bodies making a big move I just wonder what the move will be. I feel like now Lunar and FC are going to end up being more intwined then they might think.

Also I love Dazzle!!! AAAGH! She and Jack are so cute! I loved the ep Sun took Dazzle and Lunar to the store that was so sweet. Can't wait to see more of them! They're such a cute dynamic! I like seeing Lunar put his best foot forward to help Dazzle too.

I can tell Moon is slowly distancing himself from the others but it's like this odd thing where he's no longer obsessed with Solar being back per sei...but he's obsessed over how HE has to be the one to bring Solar back in his way because HE promised and he wants to be better then Old Moon and yeah...he's got a very warped perspective I feel like? But Molten and Ruin BOTH pointed out Moon is being possessed by something so I think he's definitely sick? Or something is keeping him from seeing the error of his way.

I do plan to draw Solar and Eclipse and Lord Eclipse next but I'm stuck on what I want to do for Solar's design :P I might make a poll in the future!

Omg!! Thank you SO MUCH for the lovely ask and for being interested in this AU!! I would really love to draw more art on it, but I was so impatient and I get indecisive on designs, so I decided to just toss a bit of what I had so far and develop more along the way.

What’s the contract between Vox and Lucifer ?

I won't get into the specific terms they agreed on, cause there are a lot of technicalities that come with the wording of a deal, but I'll give some details about it! I also want to make a comic about this moment concerning each of their motivations so🤞

First off- yes, it is a soul-binding contract. It was done more so for insurance and trust. The gist of it is: Vox wanted to sponsor Charlie's hotel, Lucifer is naturally suspicious of Sinners, but still wanted to support his daughter's dream. So, to make sure Vox is actually going to benefit Charlie, Lucifer and Vox agree on a contract together. Charlie does know about the existence of their deal, but not the details.

What sinners are they currently working on redeeming ?

A lot! They have a ton of more foot traffic, but I'd say their two most promising residents with a shot at redemption(at least in Charlie's eyes) so far are still some familiar faces: a certain crafty snake and seductive spider.

Although we don't know too much about them yet, I also like to think a bunch of mob characters and the non-speaking characters we saw in the series reside there too.

If Heaven is siding a bit more with Charlie on this, are the angels still similarly characterized ? (Like Lute, Adam, and Sera, what’s their deal in this au?)

Well... Heaven is siding with Charlie only because they fucked up.

In this AU, Sir Pentious descended from Heaven. (He was CAUGHT by the service worker for taking too many napkins and straws. GREEDY. He lives at the resort under analysis as the first Winner to make a transition to Sinner and is trying to get back into Heaven.) Or something along those lines. If he ascended to Heaven in a super grand and noble way in canon, I'd day he descended to Hell in a really mediocre way that eould arguably be seen as an error on Heaven's behalf....

This was also their "proof" that Sinners/Winners can change ^

So while they certainly still don't support the idea of redemption, the angels(and higher ups like Sera) kind of have to begrudgingly Hell and Sinners a chance and some ground to prove themselves, or they'd be admitting fault for gatekeeping Heaven for no reason.

As for Lute and Adam, instead of yearly exterminations, they go on yearly trips to Hell for "inspections", in which the resort must provide evidence of their progress.

I'll probably mention this whenever I get to posting art for Vaggie, but in contrast: Vaggie is a live-in angelic inspector sent down by Heaven to update them on the progress of redemption, so she stays in Hell year-round.

Does an angel still die in this au ?

Nope! The AU can be viewed as canon compliant, until 7 years ago, then it diverges. So while there are some mirrors here and there, it wouldn't follow the majority of canon events that happen during the series.

Who would be the first sinner they redeem and how ?

This is a funny answer, but I haven't really thought that far yet....Like, while the OG Hazbin Hotel was kind of run down and showed it's faults, it did have a genuine focus on building connections(smaller pool of residents) and valuing them. Not to say that the Reset Resort can't, but there's other motivations to staying at the Resort rather than redemption. It all circles back to Quality vs. Quantity.

Firstly - where have I been? Work REALLY picked up in a way I wasn't expecting over the last...4 months? I was working double and often triple the hours I was used to. With work, vacations, random illnesses, and many video games I got a bit too obsessed with, this blog took a backseat. Plus, sometimes I get disinterested in vore when obsessed with something else. Sometimes, that lasts months, and it did this time.

But now I can confirm that work will FINALLY chill for a long period of time. I'm free! And more motivated than ever! Wahoo! Thanks for your support ALWAYS.

Next big question - when am I going to do more of my story? The one with Asyr? AHHHHHGHHGHH this story has consumed my life. I think about it daily. I dream about it. And yet I'm not as comfortable writing as I am drawing, so writing is a slow process that my perfectionist ass struggles with. I can assure you that there is a story in the works - and I am working on it at a snail's pace.

We're going back so far that I think this is about my naga oc (which I'm in the midst of redesigning cough cough). For him, he would never tolerate being prey, extremely unwilling bahaha. In general, I haven't thought much about naga or snake prey! I get the appeal of slurping up a noodle, but I just prefer human prey :)

archie rambles

fun fact archie went through a shit ton of redesigns before i settled on what i settled on. he was originally going to look like jack walten and have more of a upbeat and happy go gitty personality, but because i wasn't happy with my art at the time or my characters i never settled on a proper design for him.

this was his first design i think if mt toyhouse is correct. very jack walten inspired in his older days, while his younger days he looked like every oc i had at the time.

his backstory at the time is that he was brought back to life some how by medic and engineer because they were trying to see if they can bring people back through the logs of the respawn machine. but i never fully stuck with this back story because i didn't like it and changed it not to long after i had that idea.

then there was the "oh god oh fuck i want him to blow up" era, where i only drew him once a month and everytime i did his design would change.

i had more doodles during this time of him but never posted them to toyhouse, and if im correct they were posted in a server im not apart of anymore so yeah </3 but thankfully in this era we got something close to his official current design, which was this drawing!

not quite there, still needed work but its getting closer to the current archie we all know and love. at this point bro didn't have a backstory like at all, all i knew is that "teehee funny TFC medic design i looooove him :3" and literally nothing else. then he was left to rot for a while, and he wasn't touched again until some time in January i think, which he was doodled in this

little shit post doodle, i wanna punch this guy tbh hes so goofy. THEN CAME JULY, 20 DAYS AFTER MY BIRTHDAY. i suddenly had motivation unlike any other, and i was like "YES I NEED TO DRAW OLD MEN" and then the current archie design was born.

i still love this design like a lot, i think he looks lovely. if i had to change anything i would make him have more wrinkles and have his hair curl a bit more since i still want him to have curly or wavy hair. AND ALSO ADD MORE BODY HAIR ON HIM BECAUSE I DONT THINK THERES ENOUGH ON HIM BRO <///3

but besides that i love this design of him. only issue is that his back story is kinda all over the place atm, its a mixture of oh he fell in love with cheavy but because it was the 30's he was violently closeted and still is.

but on the other hand i wanna make his backstory more complex and be like "oh he had a love hate realtionship with cheavy and his team, which is why he didn't rejoin it once they got back together blah blah blah" idk still trying to figure it out yk

As for how I make my AUs/how I approach AUs,,, honestly I think I’ve just consumed so much content in my youth plus my aspirations to work in the animation industry have made me kind of understand storytelling to a degree, so I think it’s fun to take some ideas from content I like and change it to make a whole new story

Like for AT AU obviously there is no Adventure Time character that will perfectly align personality wise with a member of Ateez, so instead of wildly changing someone to force them into the exact role of Princess Bubblegum for example, or make someone Jake, I just take ideas from the series that I really enjoyed (post apocalypse, magic, cursed character, platonic familial relationships complicated backstories and potentially morally grey characters) and then let that inspire me to relate it to in this case, Ateez.

For Mafia au I had a lot of help brainstorming that but I think the root of ideas comes from maybe like. I see a picture and I do a doodle. Then my brain thinks of other things I kind of know/want to see within that world. I drew Jongho and Mingi in mafia au before anyone else and before it was a big au with fics to go with it. After the drawing I kept having more ideas and then @nnnnnnnothingtoseehere had ideas and suddenly it grew. I watched a lot of mafia/crime movies/series during the pandemic tbh so I had lots of inspiration. AUs like this are fun cus while AT AU directly is inspired by a pre-existing series, this AU is just based on an idea and there are a bunch of sources of inspiration!

Then for my Cowboy au that’s kind of like. My own little project. I’m kind of thinking I may eventually change designs around to make it not an au but an original “project” just for something to put in my portfolio. Of if people really liked it maybe I’d do something with it. But sometimes the beauty of an AU over an original project is people already know and love the characters which takes a lot of the work presenting new characters and hoping people enjoy them. Anyways, yea for this AU as it is rn, it’s just born out of my love for the western aesthetic. Also during the pandemic I watched a ton of spaghetti westerns as well as newer westerns and I found I just really love the vibe. Even when I don’t love the movie it’s really the vibe that I enjoy, couldn’t really explain why haha 🥲. I then realized I strongly dislike drawing horses and in fact (controversial opinion but it is my own) I’m not really a big fan of horses so I thought I’d lose interest quickly if I had to force myself to draw horses for certain drawings. I decided to do motorcycles instead just cus I thought it’d be more enjoyable for me to learn how to draw that than horses lol. So then the AU became lik the. Futuristic Cowboys and then that’s how it got the way it currently is

As for making the story it definitely helps to have someone to riff off sometimes. I thought of most the ideas for AT AU story wise by myself but when I was first coming up with it I was sharing all of my ideas with my younger sister, and occasionally she’d get an idea too, or expand on something a little bit. I don’t really know how to explain the way I come up with the overall story I think I just decide on a bunch of bullet points that I want to happen just ideas in the void. Then I think of major plot points I want to happen. Then I think of dynamics of characters. Then I just start organizing those ideas. Not necessarily in that order but those are the kind of starting points I guess!!

This might not be as easy to answer at this point in your career, but i won’t know until i ask.

From the time you were drawing to learn and maybe experiment, to current day, when you’ve gathered enough of a following that you can take on drawing as an avenue for making paid work, how have you balanced creation of both original content of your own as well as fan-art, outside of commission work? And how did you approach the balance of drawing what you want and drawing stuff that would probably gather more interest?

I’ve wrestled with both my want to actually draw stuff that i genuinely want to, while at the same time tailoring it in a manner that attempts to appeal to some kind of audience, over the last… 5 years? The latter criteria has been VERY tricky (and frustrating) for me, to the point that in hindsight, i definitely overworked myself over it, and i’ve felt averse to just admitting to myself that content that is TOO original/ personalized being almost all of my output, is probably going to keep me stuck where i am, no matter what.

Hiii, I'll answer this in sections to make it easier so here we go!

How to balance working on commissions Vs personal work and fanart?

The key here is to treat commissions like any regular job (Like an office job but without annoying coworkers!) I work monday-friday and maintain a schedule and set deadlines to follow.

Some people don't work well under pressure but in my case it pushes me to take action. Knowing I promised a client progress or a finished work by a certain date gets me going no matter how burned out I'm feeling. Also keeping a public queue helps this as well as it motivates me to visible update everyone on what I'm doing.

Discipline is very needed, not because you're your own boss means it's easier. People are paying you their hard earned money and it's your responsibility to deliver quality work for them in the promised time.

It's not just drawing, it's social media management, self promoting, bank account checks, regular updates and keeping a good streak of happy customer to spread the word for you!

I draw personal work on my free time on weekends. And sometimes in between when I get particularly itchy about an idea. But I always prioritise commission and I will always make sure to have at least reached my daily goal of work before I start goofing around drawing blorbo art.

It's taken years of adulting, to finally find a rhythm I'm comfortable with, where I can work and still keep my fandom self well fed. So do not despair, I felt helpless at 21 trying to sell a $5 commission but now I'm making $100+ with one single purchase!

TLDR: Treat commissions like a job separate of your hobby. Take weekends free, use your time responsibly 👍👍

How to build an audience

I don't know lol. It sort of happened to me. My main target was always furries (I am a furry) On my first 3 years of 'career' I never reached over 400 followers on my most popular social media, but my income was steady since a random streamer decided that I'd be her artist for everything, so I was able to survive more or less.

On the side I was working on my own OCs which I was lucky enough for randos to find appealing enough to warrant a follow! (Alois here getting pretty popular).

Parted ways with the streamer after hoarding me for 2 years and started drawing fanart which brought followers to me in waves. I'd get into a super obscure fandom (Solatorobo for example) draw a ton of stuff for it, bringing a wave of new followers thirsty of content and then stay because they like furries too.

And rinse and repeat and I got hundreds of people perceiving me (thank you) and even more people eager to commission me (thank you harder)

Important to note: People on different socials have different interests. Example: Twitter has been very friendly with original content but flops certain fanarts. Tumblr hypes up fan content a lot more enthusiastically but original content doesn't get very far.

TLDR: mostly takes good rng, but having a loud social media presence and a steady amount of new content to keep interest is a step on the right direction.

Last... What about burnout and frustration? What do you do?

TAKE A BREAK! TOUCH GRASS, separate yourself from the screen and breathe a moment. Then you come back and join Artfight.

Artfight is freedom! It's a chance to freely experiment with any character that catches your eye. You can try things that you wouldn't do during commissions, a different brush, different layer modes, angles, poses, etc. AND put enough effort on it that would make the receiver very happy 💖 and by posting this experimental work on socials, it got a lot of attention. Most did really great, a few flopped too, but it was overall extremely positive.

Without noticing, you find new paths, new techniques, you realize you can draw better and faster, and when you come back to work when the month is over, it shows!

TLDR: Take a break, then experiment!! You'll improve and find your path. This works different for everyone, but I'm sharing what has helped me.

My personal project: Nullite Chronicles

Alright. Where do I start with this. Those who have known me for a while - long before I made a tumblr account - know that I've been working on a novel series on and off for several years. However, it's better to think of it as just a story that's primarily told in novel format for the sake of convenience.

For those not in the know, however, here's some essential information on the state of the project:

The general concept has been a thing since 2013, and while much of it has changed since then, there are still some core aspects that have remained.

The reason why the ideas changed drastically over time is because I have been, and still am, guilty of letting ideas stew in my head and never really write them down in tangible form. Even now, I procrastinate on writing a ton and so there's plenty of things at risk of growing beyond their intended purpose.

Regardless, the first entry of the series took me about 2.5 years to complete (on and off, as usual). Long ago, I wrote nearly 3/4 of an entire novel that had a vastly different story before abandoning it. Long before that, I tried making a graphic novel of that same story before realizing how time-consuming the process would be.

As expected for a story written in first-person and has existed (to me) for over 10 years, it has a lot of personal meaning to me, though I will admit that there are some aspects that are undoubtedly personal yet I don't fully understand how. Perhaps the process of continuing the story will help me find out.

Now on to the concrete details. What is this story actually about and where can one even read about it?

As you have read, the series is called Nullite Chronicles. Still a working title, but it's what I've got for now. A sci-fi/fantasy series that, in very short summary, is about a goddess that decides to fuck around and give a few modern day humans reality-bending powers to see what happens, just because. The story follows these humans and the things that happen because of them.

The first entry was titled Crisis Inheriting. It should be important to note that this story begins from the perspective of some (relatively) ordinary humans and builds off from there. The story begins when a mad scientist passes away, allowing his inventions and research to be stolen. His son organizes a team to reclaim the stolen items.

The second entry, currently in progress, is titled Chaos Two Fold, following two of the aforementioned empowered humans right after the events of Crisis Inheriting.

Honestly, the real reason I made this post was because I've recently finished some art related to the story but I'd much rather give context to everyone before I start launching my art into the void. It's been many months since I last worked on the actual writing, so only time will tell if I'll pick it back up again. Besides, I'm sure many artists know the pain of drawing their beloved OCs so much yet not having enough motivation to expand on their lore :) you know it's serious when i actually write with proper capitalization and punctuation lol

Okay, So Project Update.

Hey, it's me again. Haven't posted much the past week or so, decided I needed a short break from project work.

First of all gonna admit that I knew going into this year that I'd given myself a ton of work to do this year. I might have over-promised to a degree, not sure if I'm gonna do another "this year's plans" kind of video.

We're in July and one of the projects that I planned has been released, and I'm currently working on a side video (got one speedpaint left to do, then scripts and a few additional drawings).

At the moment, the plan for the next few videos is My Take on Ultraman (1), then Ryan and The Quest Crew (Ep1), Possibly Ultraman (Part 2) if the first part does well. Gonna try something different with the Quest Crew episode where hopefully it won't take as long to make as Fazbear Collection's Pilot did. The episode itself is gonna be much shorter, for one.

After that, I am definitely going to try getting Splatoon: Operation Rock Out! released next...Which for now is going to be simply a one-off story. (With potential for it to be extended into a few more individual "episodes", like an anthology collection, but see my note on fandom content below.)

I've promised Splatoon, so I'm gonna hopefully deliver some Splatoon (maybe early next year? Haven't got a good handle on timing yet.)

I'm not sure if I'm going to continue Fazbear Collection, maybe shelving it until I figure out the most efficient way to make my "story" videos (Got a few ideas to try for the next one). Plus I'm not super happy about how the first episode turned out. As much as I like FNAF, I've noticed with fandom stuff I tend to "cycle" through interests, and can't really "force" something when I'm currently making stuff for a different fandom.

It could make a comeback, episodes will probably just come out much more slowly since it'll be when I "rotate" back into FNAF. It might end up becoming a "casual" side thing where I make art for the AU every now and then, but don't have the pressure of spinning a full written story with it for Youtube Videos.

Gonna be honest as well, the way the FNAF fandom is currently really isn't helping my motivation to make FNAF stuff...I only really decided to make FC into a thing because my most successful videos are the FNAF-related ones, so I felt like I "need" to make FNAF videos since that's what most of my subscribers followed me for.

I think one-off stories might be the better way to handle "fandom" content (as well as the My Take On videos if I decide those work). I think at this point I want to spend a lot more time and energy on original work, after doing almost exclusively fan art for the past few years.

Honestly, I feel like it'd be better to have one "main" project, which will be original work. At least until I fully figure out the "method" to making my videos. Still having fun with it though, and hope to see you again soon with another update.

Hello Pizza Tower and/or Celeste community on Tumblr(preferably both) And welcome, to this very rough and work in progress blog for Berry-bel Bakery! This is a Pizza Tower X Celeste Alternative Universe(though in tags and the url you'll notice I refer to it as "crack fiction" cus I think that sounds cooler) that combines elements and characters from both games to make new weird and wacky things! Rather than having both worlds directly cross over. Oh there's also a lot of pie. 🥧 The concept of crossing over Celeste and Pizza Tower isn't exactly new, and this is most definitely inspired by that whole trend of having Peppino and Madeline interact with each other for funsies back in February; but with a deeper twist to it that I came up with after thinking way too hard about how a more silly Madeline would both act and play like in Pizza Tower esque scenarios(with some light Sugary Spire inspiration). Speaking of which...

The girl you see with her fists balled up over her mouth and giving you a worried look is none other than Maribel Syrup, the protagonist of this story! She's supposed to be a mix of Madeline and Peppino's traits, if you couldn't tell. Whereas Peppino is a chef running his own pizzeria, and Madeline bakes a pie for her friends after her climb, Maribel is a Canadian baker specializing in pies who owns her own bakery in a town home to a legendary, yet flat volcano shaped like a pie. She even has orange hair meant to somewhat resemble a pumpkin to fit this theme further, and her outfit(seen below) has call-backs to both of her inspirations! She's on a mission to investigate and climb through this volcano after suddenly having several disturbing and horrifying nightmares with mysterious messages telling her to go there. The volcano, while unnamed currently, is meant to embody how Mt. Celeste and the Pizza Tower work for their respective protags; A food themed mountain with possible risk of boiling over.

I came up with this idea back in May of 2023, and have continually fleshed out the idea since then. I've shared quite a bit about this on the Celestegame subreddit and various small discord servers, but thought about creating a Tumblr for a more ease-of-use central hub for me to post to; while also showing the AU to new faces(like you, probably) that'll motivate me to work on this even more. You'll see me post art of various characters and locations, as well as the occasional illustrated gameplay idea on this blog. It is a far out dream of mine to turn this into a fangame Sugary Spire style, but I'm going to wait on getting down to that once I have better knowledge of GML and have completed some smaller Pizza Tower projects to boost my motivation and create better work habits.

Do some requests take longer than others, and/or do you just not do any specific requests

I sent a request at one point, but it’s been approximately five months since I sent it in.

Yes to both on that first question

The amount of time a request takes to be drawn is solely dependent on how much I wanna *do* with the request. If I want it to be a goofy sketch, or if I wanna color it. Currently I have a ton of request wips backlogged because I liked what I sketched enough to want to do more with/I did extremely bare bones sketches to get the idea down on paper so I could come back to it later

It's kinda why a lot of the current output has been non-request sketches, since I have requests I wanna do more with but have been extremely busy [Went from being out of the house on vacation -> packing hell -> I'm gonna be moving into my dorm tomorrow -> college orientation will last until the 20th because I signed up to move in early -> oh god college classes are starting] so my time and energy has been put into other things, and getting the motivation to finish a piece is daunting

As for deleting asks: yes I do in fact delete some requests. Either because I don't want to draw something or I don't know what to draw for a request. It's nothing personal, I just have my limits and I can't draw every request I get haha. This statement in particular isn't specifically directed at you, but I just want people to remember that I'm doing all of this for free and because it helps me with art inspo! I also have a life and will not always get to a request immediately as I go for the stuff I like/get motivated to do

If I haven't done the request, I've either deleted it or I just haven't gotten to it. I mean this in a very polite way as I don't want this to come off as me upset, but for anyone else who is wondering about a request please don't ask me about your specific request.

Additionally since I'm thinking of things regarding my asks, I've had a few people spam my inbox a few times with the same request over and over which...again please don't do that. I am ok with inbox spam if it's a variety of different requests, I have a few regulars who will send a buncha prompts in the inbox, but if it's the same request over and over because you think I haven't seen it- I promise you I most likely have!

To reiterate this is nothing personal to anyone this applies to, I just figured now would be an apt time to bring it up haha

Ahh thank you oh my god! I'm so touched you love those guys and Yuna & Kawachan. I really do want to do something with those kid detective characters and right now I have some vague ideas I'd need to flesh out more. The illustrations I'm doing right now are visual development stuff to get some ideas for interactions, backgrounds, etc. And if I'm able to pitch them to a comic publisher they'd be good key art for a pitch presentation!

I'm so happy you love Yuna and Kawachan. I haven't done anything concrete since because I tried pitching some comics right after the series ended (none went through but that's just how that is) and then I started working on a preschool series for Disney Jr that has become my full time job currently. When the show is finished and Im back to looking for work I'd love to pitch comics around again if I'm able. I'm incredibly happy that even tho producing Yuna & Kawachan was so stressful and time consuming, I never got to the point where I disliked the project. I just needed to recover afterwards because it was pretty mentally and physically taxing working the Webtoon workload. I've been worried to start a comic while working on Pupstruction (new episodes coming out on the 27th lol) because I really don't want to burn myself out before I ever really begin. So doing these illustrations and concept art stuff has been extremely fun and helpful at keeping me a little motivated. I hope the other illustrations turn out well!

Devlog #0 | An unexpected journey into a game development

What does it take to go from gamer to game creator, especially when you're the team's artist, coder, and tester, all rolled into one? I would like to have an answer!

In this blog, I invite you to join me at the very start of an (hopefully) exciting journey: developing my own indie game, solo. As I dive into the territories of game design and coding, I'll be sharing regular updates about my progress, the hurdles I encounter, the solutions I discover, and the lessons I learn along the way. 

Whether you're someone who's interested in the behind-the-scenes of game creation, a fellow developer, or perhaps someone thinking about starting their own project, this blog will give you a window into the real-time ups and downs of bringing a game to life from scratch.

So why do I want to dive into a gamedev? You know, I've always been hooked on video games, always curious about the magic that goes on behind the scenes. Back in school and through university, I dabbled in a few courses on Unity, GameMaker, and Unreal Engine. But, to be honest, I never really threw myself into it—either the motivation wasn't there, or the ideas just didn't spark. Fast forward a few years, I've kicked off a career in tech, working now as a technical architect, yet my love for games hasn't faded a bit.

Recently, I found myself thinking, "Why not take a crack at the gaming industry?" But with little direct experience or relevant skills, just a ton of passion and a nagging curiosity, I realized I needed something solid to show for myself. So, I signed up for some new courses and decided to start my own little project. It’s sort of a mini-portfolio, something to back up my leap into game development. Let's see where this goes!

Sparkling idea

Lately, I've really gotten into city builders. I've played everything from SimCity to Cities Skylines, and from Banished to Settlers — not to mention the recent Manor Lords. It's been a blast, but sometimes these games can get a bit too intricate and overwhelming. That got me thinking — what if I could create a game that's more laid-back, user-friendly, and just easy to dive into? That's when the idea hit me: why not develop a medieval city builder? I imagined a game with a straightforward economy, some interesting research and discovery elements, but nothing too complicated. With just that simple concept in mind, I started developing my game.

As I mentioned, I was somewhat familiar with Unity, so naturally, I started my project there. I even made some headway — created an island with procedural generation complete with biomes and objects like rocks, trees, and flowers, got some pathfinding in place, and even prototype of a building process. But it didn't take long to realize that Unity might be a bit overkill for what I had in mind. My project wasn't that massive, and Unity felt too complex for my needs.

So, I began looking for something a bit simpler and more user-friendly. That's when I stumbled upon Godot. At first, Godot seemed a bit mysterious, but I decided to dive in and give it a shot. I'm really glad I did! Despite a slight shortage of learning materials, Godot has been a dream to work with. It's flexible, feels more approachable, and has everything I need for my 2D city builder, which, by the way, is going to be in pixel art style.

Right from the start, it's clear that being an artist is pretty much a prerequisite for game development. Sure, you could take the easy route and just buy or download assets, but where's the fun in that? Here's the thing—I'm no artist. Drawing a square is about as artistic as I get, and even then, it's a pretty questionable square. So, learning to create my own graphics was a big hurdle I had to overcome. Pixel art caught my eye because it seemed like it had the most forgiving learning curve for a beginner like me. So, I decided to give it a shot.

Current state and future plans

So here I am, just starting out with my project. I recently moved everything over to Godot, and it feels like a fresh start. Right now, I've decided to put the procedural generation on the back burner. Instead, I'm prioritizing what really matters to me at this stage—creating my first pieces of art, laying down the basics of the road system, buildings, navigation, and sketching out the interface placeholders. I’ll dive deeper into the progress I’ve made in my next post.

It's been almost two months since I started developing this game, and boy, it’s been a journey. There aren’t always clear-cut answers in game development—it’s more like an art form, with your imagination and ideas being the only real limits. I’m constantly faced with new questions and challenges, but that’s what makes this process so exhilarating.

I’m really hoping this is the start of something great, not just another fleeting idea. I want to see it grow into something both playable and visually appealing that I’ve created myself. I’ve got plenty of ideas buzzing around, and I’ll be sure to share them as the game develops and hopefully bring them to life.

Just a note to my future self: all you started with was an idea, interest, and a challenge to yourself.

why?

why do you want to change? why do you want this "dream life?' why do you want to become an architect, or have all A's, or change your mindset? why do you feel happy doing certain things? knowing the why is the key to life. go through things you love or things you hate and ask yourself why!

using myself as an example, i scroll for hours because it distracts my from my negative thoughts and replaces crying on my bed because i'm so lazy with living vicariously through people who are able to push past lack of discipline. this answers my "why am i addicted to my phone?"

another- why do i want to change my lifestyle? because i'm consistently dissatisfied and disappointed in myself for never reaching my full potential, and i yearn and anguish over the life i could be living which causes a spiral of depression (lol) i don't want to live a life i hate!!!!!!

what do you want?

establish what you want. you may have a clear picture, or not even the faintest idea. sit and reflect upon what truly makes you happy and brings fulfillment to your life. you can find shadow work or journal prompts online, or i'd be happy to make a list if you'd like!

Okay but in all seriousness the way you use color just shifts something in my brain whenever I see it, ESPECIALLY when you choose vibrant colors for the entire piece or only add one vibrant color because just AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH the way I'm SOBBING every time because it's so damn good

Also when you opt for more pastel colors????? It's been a while but back during ✨️our Kirby days✨️ you posted an art piece of Meta Knight sitting in the moonlight and just. The lines, the moon popping out thanks to the limited color pallet, the pastels, the way you made him So Fucking Shaped. It's literally the first thing that comes to my mind whenever I think of Meta. It's just such a stunning artwork like hhhhnnnnggggggGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH IT'S SO GOOD YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE IT

im rlly proud of that meta knight ur talking about.. it was originally a physical sketch but i liked it sm i turned it digital and then i got silly with the colors

ive always been proud of my colors, but in the past (like idk 7 years ago) i had a weird limited approach to things. i figured out the trick of like,, taking something whose base color is pink and shading with purple. and then that was all i would do, because it pretty consistently made stuff that was pleasing to look at

and i developed a bit on that sorta style for years until my spamton era happened. i started using mspaint a TON and it radically changed my approach to coloring. having to both go into a seperate menu to select colors AND having the black/white slider be required to color pick Made it so that i had to experiment a lot more. mess around, maybe try a lower saturation. and after a while i started getting obsessed with grey tones.

my old old art was all super colorful, but in a sorta predictable way. its nice but didnt leave much of an impression

but in like my current era i use a lot of toned down colors. desaturated, greyish in betweens, playing with warm greys v cool greys, actually appreciating complementary colors

butyeah thats all to say. uh. i like colors a lot and i think about them alot

there r always new ways to approach coloring something and u can make some crazy stuff

ill admit that i feel like alot of my doodles n stuff look a little samey atm. u can tell what colors i default to when im feelin lazy lmao (cream, teal, green, warm pink, etc. all desaturated of course) but then again i havent been drawing much lately, the sample size isnt super big

i wanna make more shit i just never have the ideas or motivation.. i jsut end up doodling fish furries lol
