So the thing is that MK is hearing the past from both POVs. Macaque by definition can hear ANYTHING so yeah he could definitely experience MKs memories. But the thing is-does he want to? I headcanon that his future-present-past hearing abilities are something he only used a couple of times, and because what he heard from them was so traumatic, he decided to NOT use them again (like wukong laser eyes)

So- *sigh* technically, we don't really know MK immortality status. it's a grey area for now. Because on one side, he's a stone monkey, who, by nature like Wukong, can perfectly age and grow like a normal monkey. On the other hand, he's technically died already, and by the time he was created by Nuwa, both his biological fathers were already immortal (Wukong bc yes, Macaque because he's a demon, and he can die from wounds and illness, but can't age)

So to answer: we don't know yet what's with him. we will see (I promise that)

MK can't make the same clones macaque has. He can control a little bit his own shadow, and use that as a clone. so as long as it's his own shadow, it's more Mac area, if it's his own hair clone then it's Wukong's

Yes they know about them. No they aren't his kids let's say. My own personal headcanon for the Au (or the show in general) is that they are both Macaque shadow, like- clones with a little bit of personality just like MK clones represent specific parts of his personality. He has 2 of them because he lived 2 lives, one before and one after he was brought back to life.

With the ongoing investigation into the CEO Killer, it's interesting to see how little people know about police investigations. Which is funny, because most of that stems from Copaganda and is now kinda biting the cops in the ass.

Semi-Educated rambles about copaganda and real procedures below the cut

I say semi-educated because I am writing a thesis paper on copaganda, but much more about the brutality aspects and not the crime solving ones. I did write a much less intense paper on that almost ten years ago, and presumably some things have changed. Take my "expertise" with a grain of salt.

The Copaganda Thing

Copaganda (Cop Propaganda) is basically what the name suggests. Anything that makes police look good. Social media posts about community outreach, the adorable little K-9 units, kneeling next to a protestor that you brutalize after the camera turns off. But the massive elephant in the room here are Cop Shows. There are literally too many for me to name. NCIS, Blue Bloods, True Detective, any of those weird "live" police shows, and yes, Brooklyn 99, too. These shows (often produced in cooperation with the police btw) serve to humanize cops and portray them as good, honest people, who maybe have to cross the line sometimes but it's always for a good reason and they're always right and save the day! The other half of it is vastly misrepresenting how (and if) crimes get solved.

Reality

Ripping this band-aid off first: Police are dogshit at solving crimes. There are aspects technically outside their control, like that only about half of all crimes (excluding murder) actually get reported to the police. (Based on comparing the 'Uniform Crime Reports' and the 'National Criminal Victimization Survey') But this also means that the Police Clearance rates are only half of what they calculate. Numbers get further skewed by not accounting for a lot of online crimes because the system hasn't caught up with like, the 90s. Anyway, for reported crimes, investigations will lead to an arrest in about 20-25% of cases. Three out of Four cases die without ever apprehending a suspect. (While there are ways to deal with a case without an arrest, ask yourself if you think that's likely in a system that measures success by arrest numbers) Conviction rates (which vary massively depending on crime) even out to about 4%, or 2% of total known crimes. (x) Worth noting: Generally, violent crimes have higher clearance and conviction rates. For murder, the conviction rate is around 60% while larceny-theft can dip below 1% of reported crimes. (It's generally assumed that the number of known and reported murders is the same, as the NCVS doesn't track it. Because murder victims are bad at filling out surveys.) To recap: Police solve about 4% of crimes reported to them. Meanwhile in your average cop show, you've got a success rate of about 100%. That's a stark difference, even if you take only murder rates of 60%. If you're an average citizen who's the victim of a crime, the most helpful thing the cops will do is file a report you can submit to your insurance.

Forensics & Procedures

I've seen these float around a bit and it's mildly ridiculous. Supposedly they've found a bottle and a protein bar of our killer and will be testing fingerprints and DNA. If those worked flawlessly, they still would only bring up results if the killer has been detained before. Databases of random civilian fingerprints/DNA samples are not kept by law enforcement. These analyses only work by having a point of comparison (and even then fingerprint analysis remains subjective), so they won't actually help finding the culprit, but they would be relevant to confirm the identity of an apprehended suspect and as evidence in an eventual trial. (There is also something called familial DNA which would work if they had a couple of relatives in the system, but that's both a flawed and incredibly time intensive approach. We're talking months of drawing family trees.) Also your average DNA test takes like 24 hours and fingerprint analysis is algorithmically supported now, but still mostly done manually. And both require a clear sample, so good luck with that. Fingerprint might as well be the clerk who sold the bottle. There's an infamous case of a serial killer whose DNA kept being found on crime scenes all Central Europe with no connection to each other. Turned out the Swabs were contaminated during production. There was no serial killer. Quickfire round of unrelated notes: 1) Lie detectors don't detect lies, they detect stress, anyone can trick one with some practice. the guy who popularized their use thought they could detect stress in plants too and that the plants could read his mind. 2) We're not actually sure if all fingerprints are completely unique. 3) Bite mark analysis is a pseudoscience that needs to be removed from criminal and legal proceedings asap. 4) Any algorithmic detections inherit the flaws of their human predecessors. Those are their training data. (That's also how they keep turning up racist)

And as a final note, it's common for the police to not share details on their ongoing investigations. That's just common sense. The only details that get released to the public are ones that could lead to direct hints or vague ones if there's a lot of public attention, to assure everyone there is progress. For similar reasons, while everyone and their grandma has put together the motive from the bullet casings, cops can't actually go out and confirm that. It's like how Bulbapedia has to say Flamigo appears to be based on a flamingo. Contrary to the cops, Bulbapedia does not have to carefully watch what data they release that might elicit more sympathy for Flamigo.

Why tho

So after literal decades of copaganda brainwashing, the public perception of crime and punishment is heavily skewed. We've been told over and over that cops can catch any criminal in a matter of a 60 minute episode, max. And that's by design. Aside from the image polishing, copaganda is a deterrent. If you're convinced you'll be caught after committing a crime, you wouldn't commit it, right? You don't wanna go to jail. And the bad guys always get what they deserve on TV, no matter how smart they are. You're not gonna risk that, are you?

That's why we keep using lie detectors, that's why the news are full of arrests being made constantly, that's why cop shows get so much support from the police. That's also why we keep pouring money into policing. Part of it, at least. We've built a police force that isn't about solving crimes. If that was priority, we'd invest more into forensics and labs to keep up with the demand of samples that need to be analyzed. Instead, we built a police force that gets new tech gadgets and military gear. It's an arms race against the general public that isn't even running. We take cops and we give them paranoia, weapons, justifications for violence, and targets to brutalize. I don't have to remind you of the riot gear and responses to peaceful protests. The police isn't your friend and helper. You must fear them. Fear their superior intellect, fear their crime solving abilities, fear the high tech arsenal at their disposal. Fear them so much, you won't even think of doing a crime unless you're rotten to the core. And if someone's rotten to the core, then surely the violence is justified.

But that's also why this guy in particular is so dangerous. They've built up this image of being near infallible (to anyone who never actually interacted with police proceedings, at least) and being able to stop any threat, catch any criminal. And yet, this guy shot someone in broad daylight, in the juristiction of the country's largest police department, and he's currently getting away with it.

Joshua closed his eyes and relished the feeling of her hands playing with his hair, traveling down to his temples and rubbing firmly. He let out a deep sigh, the weight that had been beating against his skull lessened. 

From above him, Cyana began to hum, enjoying how peaceful Joshua looked in her lap, the scrunch between his eyebrows disappearing as he relaxed. 

“Sleep, Shua.” She whispered, drawing circles against his temples. “You’ve got nothing to worry about.”

“Our American tour was special to me because I was born there. I was excited to see all my friends and family. I wanted them to see how much I had grown up.” Joshua smiled. “So our American tour was extra special.” 

“Who’s most likely to kick someone while sleeping?” 

Cyana raised the headshot of Mingyu, laughing at his betrayed expression. She was surprised that she was enjoying their media promotion run, feeling much more free when answering interview questions in English. 

She knew Joshua felt the exact opposite though. As the oldest English speaking member, it was natural for the responsibility of navigating foreign interviews to fall on his shoulders. 

“I felt a sense of responsibility to carry the team through the questions well.” Joshua explained. “So I would always look through the scripts and questions beforehand, discussing them with Vernon and Nana.”

“How should we answer this one?” Joshua pointed at question 3, the one about TMIs they could give as a group. 

Vernon shrugged. “We haven’t got much TMIs.” 

“Just talk about sleeping a lot during tour. Or that Mingyu and Wonwoo went to a museum yesterday.” Cyana nudged Joshua gently. “It doesn’t have to be anything that interesting.” She giggled at her next thought. “It’s not like we can say ‘Hoshi takes 45 minutes to shit’ on Buzzfeed.” 

From beside her, Vernon gasped for breath as he laughed. Joshua smacked her shoulder, proud of her joke. 

“I see all that media training Coups put you through is paying off.” He commented through spouts of laughter. 

Cyana held her head up highly, proud. “Of course.” 

“We should say that though.” Vernon nudged Joshua. “Right? It’d be funny.” 

“Soonyoung might kill us.” 

“Joshua took most of the questions during our media press tour.” Cyana admitted to the camera, looking a bit regretful. “The rest of them tried their best, but it was just better coming from a fluent speaker. Vernon took some questions too but I-” She paused, looking a bit ashamed. “I was too nervous to do much. I wish I had done more, so Shua wouldn’t have felt so much of the burden.”

Cyana groaned through a mouthful of Chicago pizza, relishing the flavour and texture. “This is amazing.” She spoke to Joshua, her words muffled as she pointed to the large slice in her hands.

He was busy eating his own slice, eyes focused on a tv show playing from his phone. 

She found herself spending most nights with Joshua, as the others preferred to explore the city and host mini parties in their hotel rooms. She’d only return back to her and Dino’s shared room once Dino texted to let her know that the party was over. 

She just preferred quiet nights like this over anything else in the world. 

“Hey!” She protested when Hoshi, appearing out of nowhere, reached over and snuck a bite off her pizza. 

Smiling at her with twinkling eyes, Hoshi merely pinched her cheek in retaliation. “Thanks, Nana. It’s delicious.”

“I know it’s delicious. It’s mine though.” She shielded the rest of her slice from him. “There’s more on the table over there.” 

Wonwoo stepped into the room, moving to stand behind her. “It smells good.” He mused, staring longingly at the slice in her hands. 

A tiny smile crossed her face almost subconsciously, as she lifted her hands and allowed him to take a bite. “It’s good right?”

“Favourtism.” Hoshi grumbled from behind a nodding Wonwoo.

“We’re going outside.” Wonwoo gesutred between him and Hoshi to Cyana. “Do you want to join?”

She shook her head, reaching up to wipe the sauce that had somehow landed itself on his chin. Neither one reacted to the gesture, continuing on as if the intimate contact was just another normal moment. Joshua and Hoshi however, exchanged unmistakable looks of interest. 

“Seventeen is a team that made my dream come true and made my mom proud of me.” Joshua’s eyes shone as he spoke. “Seventeen made me a special person, and since only good things came to me, I’d say Seventeen is a blessing.” 

“You should sleep, Shua.” Cyana chided from her spot on Jeonghan’s bed. Dino’s little gathering with the others was dragging on later than usual and she found herself taking solace with the 95 line. 

Joshua shook his head stubbornly. “I won’t be able to sleep even if I tried.” 

“I think I probably only slept two hours a day that month.” He admitted to the camera, sheepish. “It was hard to sleep when there was so much to worry about.” 

“Listen to Nana.” Jeonghan mumbled from the bed, his eyes already closed. “Go to sleep.” 

“Your mind is whirring too fast when you try to sleep, right?” Cyana asked him, switching suddenly to English. “And it’s like your mind is running on a train track with no brakes.” 

Joshua nodded slowly. The thing that had been ailing him was finally being put into words. 

Cyana hopped from Jeonghan’s bed over to his, crossing over Jeonghan’s body with poise and grace.

“And all you can think about is the past, the future, moments that you’ve forgotten for so long.” Cyana had a faraway look in her eyes as she spoke, sitting down. “And it’s like a whirlpool, sucking you in.”

“That’s right.” Joshua mumbled, watching as she got comfortable against the pillows on his bed. “How do you deal with it? Shut it off.” 

Cyana offered him a small smile that looked more like a grimace. “If I knew I would have told you a long time ago.” She motioned for him to join her, her hands grabbing the air. “We just have to try and sleep. And think about something else.” 

He closed the lights, whispering a quiet goodnight to Jeonghan before sliding into bed. “Like what?”

“I think about you guys.” She admitted in the darkness. “And all the happy and silly moments.” 

“That sounds nice.” 

“Right?” She shuffled a bit, twisting to see his face in the darkness. She could just make out the frame of his face and his doe eyes, staring back at her. “I think there’s something beautiful about drifting off the sleep picturing the ones you love most.”

“I thought you were going back to your room.” He whispered, careful not to disturb Jeonghan. “Didn’t you tell Dino you’d be back?”

“I’ll stay here tonight.” She whispered back. “I’m too lazy to move.” 

Joshua knew that wasn’t the truth. He knew she was staying for him, to make sure he actually fell asleep. He felt his heart clench with strong affection. 

“Thank you.” 

Cyana turned onto her back, staring up at the ceiling. “Of course.” 

She liked saying that. Of course. Because everything she did for them was guaranteed and granted. There was never a need for any thank yous because of course she’d do anything for them.

Sun Sign Observations- 012

Every Scorpio Sun male I met gives the same vibe as Sasuke from Naruto lol. They all give off this mysterious nonchalant vibe. They come off as very uninterested in others but this is lowkey what draws so many people to them. They are sooo magnetic (especially with libra placements) these guys are very sexy and a lot of ppl obsess over them men and women whether it be good or bad. Also I notice they are quite pessimistic.

I notice Gemini Suns are either so chatty or very mute lol. I feel there’s no in between. I feel like Gemini’s are the introverted of the extroverts. But even the quiet ones are very good conversationalists when you really start to get them going lol. They get the reputation of being flakey and fake but really it’s not the case a lot of the time. Geminis need a lot of mental stimulation, it’s energy is very restless so when things are stable for too long they can become irritated more than most. Bringing in new ideas and social connections help their fast paced minds feel at ease. This however can cause them to be very misunderstood and have a harder time with holding long lasting relationships.

Libra suns are all so naturally pretty (men and women) they are so easy to spot because they all have this conventionally popular look to them. Also the flirt A LOT, a little too much at times. I feel like this sun sign enjoys leading others on more than most. They love attention especially from attractive people. They are so charming and can make you feel so special (even if it’s completely fake). As much as they flirt it’s actually rare they really fall in love but when they do they become so devoted to their partner & very obsessive (especially with Scorpio placements). But overall they are genuinely nice people even if it can be a little fake they try so hard to make people happy and comfortable which is so respectable.

Capricorn sun people I notice find a lot of humor in being mean to people😭 and you never know if they really mean it or not cuz they have such a dry humor (I honestly think most do mean it tho)😂. But their serious tone can be so hilarious. It can come off as intimidating sometimes cuz they can be pretty cutthroat.

Pisces suns will say some of the weirdest most random shit outta nowhere. It can be so funny tho cuz it’s usually so out of context😂 I feel like Pisces are more of oddballs than Aquarius. They have this feral energy they keep hide around these calm sweet auras. But they only show this side to people the trust.

All the Sagittarius suns I met are all surprisingly very emotional people. They normally hide their sensitive souls under this really confident flamboyant carefree mask. But really their huge animated personalities are defenses to hide how vulnerable and scared they really fear. They come off as childish but when they really open up to you they are some of the wisest people you’ll meet. One big thing I respect about this sign to is their inability to discriminate against others, they have such an non judgmental nature about them & are always so open to learn even if it normally goes against what they stand for.

Cancer suns are soooo clingy to their partners. Once they feel they found their soulmate I see a lot kinda isolate themselves and their partner. They can become a little codependent. It’s hard for cancers to feel comfortable around people because of their softer nature. So when they find someone that finally feels like home it’s hard for them to separate themselves.

Taurus suns can be very jealous of others. I honestly think more than Scorpios. A lot I met tend to be very bully like if insecure about themselves. They don’t like when others look better or have more money than them. Most feel like they have to be the best to feel good about themselves and many can find it hard to see the beauty in themselves:( but when healthy these people can be the rock to their families and relationships they are so stable and reliable once they love you they will do anything for you. These people genuinely do have big hearts but their egos can get in the way a lot.

I’m so jealous of Leo Suns, they are just so confident in their authentic selves it’s so admirable. It’s so hard for this sign to feel embarrassment because they love the attention and expression so much. I’d die to have this trait. This is why so many people want to be around them the shine like the Sun 🌞

The Swordmaster, dressed up as her primary design inspirations

If you like reading, I've included some commentary about the Swordmaster's inspirations (including ones not depicted above!) as well as one (1) kinda funny picture below the cut.

When thinking about how to design Mufotsuki/Piripu into the Sword/Spearmaster, I knew from the beginning that I wanted them to be based on magical girls and super saiyans respectively. When it came to actually designing them though, I ditched the Swordmaster being based around magical girls specifically. There might be an inkling or two of meguca in there, however most magical girl designs I found online (as well as from media I like) were waaaay too feminine for my liking. So, I looked to my favorite girlprince, Utena Tenjou from Revolutionary Girl Utena. The Swordmaster takes after Utena in mainly visual aspects, inheriting Utena's pauldron thingies and hairstyle (to some degree). I knew that I wanted the Swordmaster's hair to be different from Mufotsuki's, however I couldn't bring myself to get rid of Mufotsuki's braids. So, I amped up the braid length and gave the Swordmaster some bangs adjacent to Utena's. Utena was also one of a few characters who encouraged me to take a "knightly" approach the the Swordmaster's design.

Up next is Mami Tomoe from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, who actually had zero bearing on the Swordmaster's design but contributed mainly in vibes. For those unfamiliar, Mami Tomoe is the oldest girl in the main cast of Madoka Magica, and she serves as a role model to the others as well as being the ideal image of a magical girl. In whatever story the Swordmaster and Spearmaster are in, I want the Swordmaster to have a similar role/vibe (though maybe not as tragic, ahem...) Mami Tomoe also serves as inspiration for how the Swordmaster carries herself in and outside of a battle. She acts rather dainty most of the time, however she knows how to hold herself up in a fight, and her often soft nature serves as a contrast to her stern moments. No doubt a show-off, but she does it with the flavors of elegance and poise.

These characters have less of a bearing on the Swordmaster's design/personality, but were nonetheless ones I thought about while designing her.

Sayaka Miki, also from Madoka Magica: Probably the first magical girl I looked to when I wanted to base the Swordmaster's design purely on magical girls. Sayaka is probably why I decided to make Mufotsuki the Swordmaster. Similarly, Sayaka's counterpart, Kyoko Sakura, might've been why I made Piripu the Spearmaster. +1 to knight inspiration.

Diamond, from Land of the Lustrous: No direct design influence, some personality influence. Diamond has a soft way of speaking that influences how both Mufotsuki and the Swordmaster are heard in my head. Some of the ways Diamond fights also serve as inspiration for how the Swordmaster fights, but the techniques I think about aren't wholly unique to Diamond and kinda belong to Land of the Lustrous as a whole.

Ludovica Bonnaire, from Tiger Tiger: Ludovica as a character probably has the least influence on the Swordmaster. Her influence is actually based on how another character described her, calling Ludovica the "princesscaptain". This title tickled me, so I kept the words "princess knight" in my mind while drawing the Swordmaster.

Color theory is my passion! (Context: When I color, I use a LOT of layers to make the process later on easier/neater. Splitting color zones into parts also makes some aspects of shading easier. Laying down these ugly colors first helps me distinguish other color zones from each other.)

And then you just had to go above and beyond and do a portrait of him for his birthday!!!!! It’s hung on the living room center wall so that it’s the first thing anyone sees! Honestly, this man is a brute, but your art envokes his softer side! A side that he hasn’t been in touch with for…well, a long time.

Makes sure that everyone and I mean, everyone, is aware of your talent! Still, he tries to find the side hussle in it, soliciting customers for you and all. 😭😭 Will trash talk the chalk art children make on the sidewalk, which ‘…that’s not nice, they’re children..’ you say. He shrugs, nobody is as good as you.

Obito:

Finds out and tries to ‘secretly’ commission you lmao. Makes it totally obvious too, his handwriting is shit and eveeeerrryyyyone knows who Tobi really is…. Plus how can you even begin without discussing what he wants done!! Duh, Obito! Unfortunately for him, you are more interested in drawing matters of the flesh. He’ll only show his chest, nothing more.

‘That’s fine.’ You shrug, and get to work. Obito, however, does not have the resolve to sit still! It’s frustrating to no end, but alas, after what seems an eternity— its done. Sort of. Still much to add, but the basics are there and you’ll work better when he’s not asking how does it look every twenty minutes.

Eventually you do finish this beautiful piece of him, and Obito cries. You made his scars tolerable and beautiful with your mind’s creativity, he feels less self conscious about them, only a little.

Shisui:

Is the least normal about it when he discovered your sketchbook — more like snatched and played keep away. Had to fight him for it, literally. Will ask you to paint/draw him naked…many times lol and you respectfully say no... Not that he likes people to see him naked (ok maybe a little?) but he secretly hopes it might happen one day. It would be a private thing for the two of you, cause he wants that ass.

And when you do cave to his whim, just to satiate him. He’s nervous lmao. Had this oh so macho man idea of rocking a hard on but Shisui simply maintains his usual semi. It’s nice though, you make sure it’s extremely detailed..as he asked for.

But, ‘(y/n)… this is chibbi!!!’ Lol, jokes on Shisui!! He didn’t say how to draw his pp.

Itachi:

Is the most normal about it. Though he still will praise you every time you finish a piece and show him, he is still massively impressed. How does your wrist not get tired? …maybe this is why your hand jobs are so good. 😈 Just watching you try a new technique (pointillism, which is my favorite style) makes his wrist hurt. Enjoys when you ask him for ideas! He has lots of them! Mostly…obscure and derelict landscapes though.

Would not be opposed to having his portrait done, but it’s really not his style. He is disciplined enough to sit still but doesn’t see the value in it. Not until the final product is revealed, does he truly understand how important this piece was. You’ve captured his personality in a new light.

My aunt introduced me to Astonishing Legends a couple nights ago, and so far I really like the podcast it's great, I watched all of the Mothman ones so far (that I knew of, I found out this morning there's a part 5) and while listening started drawing this lil fella.

I thought the whole thing was super interesting, I loved all the tangents, and most interestingly I tried to look into the 2013 show they mentioned, following the similar stories in Dalnegorsk. They mentioned it being entirely in Russian and hey, whaddya know, I'm trying to learn Russian anyways and figured it would help since I'm already interested in this topic and it would keep me engaged. Couldn't find it (I searched as well as I could, maybe I was using the wrong keywords, I couldn't find it in their show notes sadly, if you happen to know about it/have a link or something I would be thrilled to know) but I did make this art so! That's cool! I wanted to make him a little more detailed but also wanted it to kind of speak for itself? So I stuck with this.

Because I drew this up while listening, I very much took after the descriptions I was hearing with this design. He's kind of like a bird-man?? In a lot of the descriptions??? So I tried to combine bird and moth traits here. I love the neck fluff, any day I don't have to draw a jawline is a good day in my book, and I believe as they were going through the Dalnegorsk story one account mentioned bird-like feet with one toe on the back. Originally I actually skipped that, but it came up as I was doing the lineart so I went "oh that's a neat detail," and yeah, it looks better. At like the very end I gave him a second pair of little mothy arms on his back because they're cute and I figured moths have six legs Mothman can have four arms. Every description I saw specified big muscular legs, not skinny bird legs, So of course, I did my best.

Definitely in the Dalnegorsk part, they mention he just, gave them a sad look and it compelled them to back off, which didn't do much for the art in truth, but I found that very very interesting and sort of entertaining to think about. You got this big scary bird fella and instead of attacking them or scaring them he just pulled at their heartstrings, because he could.

Also complaining about folks exploring the mountain was kinda funny

Admittedly, I have a very love-hate relationship with drawing bird feet, because on one hand they don't come very easily to me, but on the other, they look really cool and I enjoy when they turn out good. This is one of those cases, at least in my opinion, where I do think they look nice.

All in all I love how this turned out, very big fan. Regarding the Russian up top, I also saw Молерот used for Mothman as it's shorter, but looking for more context almost everything I did see using it was Fallout-related, so I figured I'd just use Человек-мотылек as it at least seems to mostly bring up stuff about The Mothman Prophecies and some other stuff at least somewhat related to him. Not that the Fallout stuff isn't, I suppose, but that feels more like an offshoot in my mind.

If you have any tips (or learning resources that don't involve me paying for a subscription I'll hardly use- books, free stuff, etc) I'd be thrilled to hear it. So far I'm not having too hard of a time, though, the hardest part is the special characters so far but otherwise I'd say I'm doing well by my own standards.

But yeah I just find Caleb showing up to haunt Belos’s ass at random points and judging every life decision he’s making, so then every time Belos has to miserably fail to try to justify everything he’s done ever to (quite literally) dead silent Caleb is kinda funny in a morbid way

This time he is showing off and brings up his two grimwalkers that have lasted the longest beating his record of two years as an example of a good life decision as well as proving that he totally doesn’t need therapy

Ngl I feel bad for Pip as the poor guy just wanted to nap and got picked up just for Belos to prove a point but he stayed asleep through all of it tho

Btw Caleb is trying so hard not to loose his shit just because there’s youngins there and he doesn’t want to wake up Pip by making Belos pissed off so he’s going to stand there in silence even more menacingly and judgemental

I like the idea that despite the weird as fuck origins of Pip and Hunter, Caleb still sees them as his nephews and likes to check up on them every once in a while when he’s not haunting Belos, Caleb checks on Hunter the most because he’s constantly in dangerous situations even inside the castle so it helps Hunter a lot to have Caleb staring daggers at Belos whenever he gets violent towards Hunter because it usually stops him

On the other hand Caleb does like checking on Pip because it’s nice seeing a version of what could have been if Philip had learnt to accept the boiling isles :( also I can imagine it’s nice seeing your great x(insert number) granddaughter continue your wife’s tradition of being a menace to a stuck up society and teaching those ways to your weird mini brother/ nephew.

also fun fact Hooty can see Caleb (don’t ask how) and greatly enjoys chatting to him as Caleb was the one who managed to convince Eve to let hooty stay in their house’s door as a “guard” but really Caleb just felt bad for the wee bug demon as hooty didn’t have a home at the time and thought so he would be a fun addition to the family hence why alongside Lilith, Caleb was one of Hooty’s favourite people

btw nobody really cares or finds it unusual for hooty to just be talking to himself so not one single person has asked about it lmao

Almost forgot to mention but this is actually still a weird memory that Hunter remembers and used to wonder why on the boiling isles did Belos have those random fits of “hallucinations” until he talked about it with Pip.

Pip was just causally like “wait you couldn’t see him?” And walked off… Hunter has never found out or gotten a clear answer if Pip was actually joking or if he could straight up see dead people, Pip refuses to reveal the real answer because he finds Hunter being confused as fuck hilarious

Also if your wondering why Belos doesn’t have the cool mechanical prosthetic staff arm, he usually hides it with a glove :p (this is because a) I’m too lazy to draw such a detailed prosthetic all the time and b) I doubt Belos would like people to know he’s missing an arm as I doubt he would like the idea of seeming “weak” because in his day this would essentially be a death sentence either due to infection or being classed as less than due to not being able to work properly)

Mid: I imagine them meeting properly when Mina has to visit Ariake for Cpt. stuff, and Narumi is an anxious fck, and don't let her out of his (people's) sight. They get to know each other better on these business appointments there. Unlike everybody else, Shinonome is rather chill, even next to the 3rd Div. Captain. Despite her respect for Narumi's strength and his abilities, his behaviour grew another kind of culture in the 1st Division (much like we see with Hasegawa as well in the manga), so she's not that uptight around higher rank officers. Mina enjoys it a lot, since she's missing the "normal" officerds life, where you chitchat with comrades as equals. There are very few people acting casual around her (f.ex Hoshina) and even if so, things are just different with her direct subordinates.

Left: I just really wanted to draw them in the pose of my most fav. lesbian couple, and quote them. That's literally all there is to it, lmao...sorry if it's out of character, maybe they're doing karaoke and some prude stranger is being shit or smth.. it's literally just redoing the original scene.

Right: Since Narumi is such a disaster with the media and press, Rin is quite used to handle dicey situations in public. This makes her the perfect accompaniment to interviews, and life shows, where Mina is invited to represent her Division. (also by no means, I want to bash the Kafmina ship, I love them too, this is just for the sake of the dialogue)

Yeah, Raph’s got a temper big time! That’s why he has so many creative hobbies.

His temper used to be much worse, and so Splinter gave him drawing stuff to help him outlet his emotions into something non-destructive and violent. He’s actually really good at art too. He’s kinda shy about it though since he feels like it doesn’t really fit with his tough persona. He also listens to a lot of heavy music that helps him vent his anger, and will often listen to music while draws to help calm down.

Now, even though he has martial arts, drawing and music to help him not explode at every little thing and try to murder his brothers on the daily, he still has a much fierier temper than all of his brothers. He often gets the most pissed off with Mikey since Mikey finds it funny to purposefully make Raph angry.(poking him, asking the same question a million times, purposefully humming the same 5 seconds of a song over and over cause he can’t remember what comes next, etc.)

Raph is very sweet when he’s in a chill mood, but he does have a tendency to be kind of violent when showing his affection. He’ll often pretend (sometimes not pretend) to punch his brothers, or will brush/bump into them.

Sometimes if Leo’s reading or doing something like that, Raph will playfully tackle him and they’ll wrestle on the floor for a bit, usually until one of them submits the other.

I’ve recently been of the mind that love with no where to go or no outlet is something on the lines of what grief is. While Emmet and Ingo Do have a place for that to go, actually being able to share it is a little more difficult now. Neither are dead (in a way that Truly matters, anyway) I can’t help but think they still might grieve a little. For what once was, maybe. Just for that familiarity. 

There is something quite terrible about realizing you will never be able to hug someone again! 

But like! They totally can and are showing the other that they care. Sometimes the most healing thing is allowing yourself to be sad with another person, knowing that they will Be There.

I just think it’s kinda amusing for ingo to be fighting and cheer as a flock of murkrow to scratch at the eyes of the pokemon he’s fighting. Only to be swarmed himself a moment later)

God forbid women do anything!! I want you to know I want to draw that meme so fucking badly you're SO right. At my next available opportunity I'm doing that. And yeah, it's exactly like that. If the airways are blocked up or they start setting up too many strings in his lung-equivalent then he kind of just, coughs. Not loudly but, he gets very twitchy. He can't hold perfectly still, it tickles/itches/it's stuffy. It would take way more than they're capable of producing to actually inhibit or harm him in any way, which is why he keeps letting them back in, but Emmet knows it will build up if he lets it which is why he keeps kicking them back out. Infinite cycle.

Correct, they are SO silly. Emmet does enjoy the company but he will never admit to it because at this point they're Doing A Bit and the first one to fold is the loser. This is also how Emmet eventually ends up with a shiny silcoon.

Yes!! Anything with joltik doesn't happen until after Ingo is recovered from the ocean and he heals a bit more from that whole experience, but I imagine they become quite the (beloved) nuisance to Emmet. Them feeding on electricity makes them a bit of a risk after his initial recovery, but after he gets back to a stable level then I imagine they bring both of them a lot of joy.

It would be extremely difficult to effect Ingo to the degree that would mimic physical sickness. I think there's a level where it's possible, but it's extremely unlikely. (That being said, after spending *checks notes* 300 years on the ocean floor, he has a lot of fucking things wrong with him. So yes he's very 'sick' when they get him out of the ocean initially. but OUTSIDE OF THAT it's unlikely!) However- Emmet can still get sick. It's extremely, extremely unlikely, but he can get sick like anyone else.

Emmet's health isn't directly tied to Ingo's current state- It's more like, Emmet cannot die so long as Ingo is alive. Any injuries or hypothetical illnesses that Ingo has are individual to him, and same with Emmet.

Yes! In fact, he becomes a bit of an ecosystem in of himself, much like a coral shelf. Lots of pokemon and plants make him their home in the time he spends underwater- He's not aware of most of the pokemon, you're right, and the plants get cleaned off- But there is one pokemon that stays with him even after he leaves the ocean. A Dhelmise that has claimed him, and is actually with him for half or more of the time that he spends underwater. There's a boundary between the different sections of him, so parts like the main decks and halls remain essentially completely dry, but his vents lead directly from the outside to his lungs (with filters) so those get, very flooded. I don't know what types of pokemon would make him a home, but Lumineon and Finneon + Chinchou and Lanturn come to mind because they glow and it would be very dark inside his hull since the light from outside wouldn't reach. Aforementioned singular Dhelmise, but said Dhelmise is extremely territorial, so I imagine his internal ecosystem is actually quite peaceful and well-protected from major predators all things considered. I can elaborate more on that whole situation another time :> He's a giant fish bowl (Edit: Pokedex says that Lumineon and Lanturn are in fierce competition for food. I find this extremely funny)

Ah fuck. I think you may have diagnosed me with this one. This uhhh,,, this might be the best way I've heard to summarize just about everything I write. I think this is a good way to describe the main theme I write about. which,.......... oof. that hits, DIFFERENT, hearing it from someone else. I am being perceived (wheeze)

Love with no where to go is just like grieving. It doesn't hurt very much when you have somewhere to put it, or you don't have any love to give away. But when you have excess, and all the doors are closed? where can that love go, when you have no where to put it? it builds in your chest with a torturous pressure, building and building, with no outlet. it hurts. its heavy. but you just keep carrying it, searching desperately to find someone who will accept it.

🥺🥺🥺 awwhhhh that's SUCH a cute idea!!! I love that. I never thought about that before, but I definitely think that should happen. They would be so emotional about it too. Emmet is trying so hard to maintain a cool persona but then some kid runs up to him and hands him a little handmade doll and I feel like he might just burst into tears to be honest.

I feel like it's definitely likely due to simply how aggressive wild pokemon are in Hisui, but at the same time most gigantamax pokemon are between 70 and 120 feet tall. Which is HUGE. I still think there would be some defensive pokemon like you're saying, but I have a feeling the large majority will be fleeing for their lives kfjsdhgsdkh

2). It would literally be easier to list the characters I don't like than my favorites, I do genuinely love most of the cast, they're all really fun and bounce off each other so well.

3). I appreciate that the Ice Crew has fans, but I just couldn't stand them, they were poor replacements for the Enforcers.

Oddity and I both are both of the opinion that the Ben-Shui monks are kinda creepy, not sure I can elaborate they just...ew

I don't remember liking Paco when I watched this as a kid, he didn't grow on me on a rewatch as an adult, and I'm not sure I'll learn to like him in my reboot fanfic- but my god I'm going to try.

Viper...I genuinely forgot she existed. Even when I did a second rewatch with Oddity there was a whole episode that I remembered seeing in my initial rewatch that I completely forgot Viper was in. I wish I liked her more than I do, but she's just really boring.

4) Again, it'd be much easier to list characters I don't like than ones I do. I would have put Tarakudo on the favorites list, because I remember really liking him as a kid, but when I did my rewatch he didn't hold up as well as I remembered so he didn't quite make it to the favorites list even though I still like him.

6) Seasons 2-4 are the whole reason to watch JCA, honestly. S1 was a good foundation, but it didn't really start to shine until s2, but even then, I have to admit the Demon Sorcerers arc got pretty reputative and the non plot episodes sort of dragged on. There's very few episodes outside of s5 I didn't like, so I wouldn't say skip 'em but I think they could have been interlaced in the Demon arc a little better

S3 gets a bad rep in the fandom, and I get the complaint of it just being the Talisman Hunt 2.0 but honestly the character interactions are at their best in this season, several of the Nobel animals themselves have such fun personalities. I wish that s3 had it's own Mcguffin to collect that I could buy replicas of on Etsy, but it's not a big complaint to me compared to just how fun s3 is

S4 had the best individual episodes. I think more could have been done with Tarakudo interacting with the other characters, he was a little passive until the final episode and that's why he didn't make the favorites list, but the new types of Shadow Khan, their powers and the different situations the masks created were some of the best scenarios in the whole series.

8) Mei Xing and a cast of other OCs will be appearing in my fanfic Jackie Chan Adventures ↺ -wink wink-

9) I didn't actually create Mei Xing to ship with Tso Lan, it's just something that ended up happening while I was planning out her part in the story. It's just really funny to me that after I decided this aspect I looked to see if there was other Tso Lan/OC pairings, and saw two others who were also named Mei- I swear this wasn't done on purpose.

10) Just for the record, I also considered drawing the scene where Daolon and Uncle froze each other while Big Jade was fighting the Ogre, that scene just sticks out to me as one of the funniest in the show because of how they were both that stupid. I love them. They need to kiss.

Here's Scott redesign/my take on his design, Unlike El's this one is actually quite different than the card design, I took a lot of inspo from Pinterest necromancers and other artist who drawn his design, I tried to combine elements from everything to make it mine, hope you guy love it as much as I!

There was a lot of experimenting with him (I figured out the shocking fact that he in fact doesn't have straight hair most likely) and the pose do not make sense (Idk what I was thinking) but I'm happy with the results!

I included more color variety, white lilies on the hat representing Milo and I kinda made the belt have eyes, idk if you can see it or nah

He also has his little gecko friend! That I kid you not spent at least half an hour searching for his name just to come up empty handed... Did he not name them?? Did I just miss it?? Idk

Just to show how smart decision go into these, the reason why he doesn't have the Loincloth (I spent 10 minutes looking for the name of it) is because it's annoying to draw in a siting position. Specifically in the sitting position I usually draw him. Yeah that's it I'm just to lazy to figure out gravity so nahh

Also you see how my designs lack patterns that were my favorite parts from the card designs? Yeah I'm just too lazy to draw them, I know, not very cutesy nor demure of me '^'

Random add ons: I added a another skull, now he has a skull on his hat. Couldn't decide on nose, went with how I'm feeling at the time of drawing. I drawn the wand that turns him into a ghost and drawn two options for a broom, I went with the second opinion btw. I can't get over the fact not even his is straight, the skin has a hair style much closer to wavy almost definitely not straight like how I thought. Should have known, Scott is as close to straight as a circle.

I was debating his earrings a lot, I wanted him to have multiple but couldn't figure out what type. Btw here's lore I made up on a wimp he definitely got his earrings from Milo and never takes them off because of that as it was a gift for his birthday or something. This is now canon to the comic I'm making. Was it important not? But I'm writing this post at 1am because I procrastinate.

He would make it into Edna's nightmares from Incredibles with all the lose fabric he has on most possible designs, he even got a cape in the final one, he's asking to be suck into a plane propellers.

Making this design also made me discover a new artist, so funny story, my phone was broken so I couldn't really use it to listen to music so I used my sister's laptop, I also used that for ref pic btw, and the laptop is logged into her account. I didn't want to mess up her YouTube history and was too lazy to log in the try to log out of my Google account so I opened up incognito, I typed in YouTube and searched "necromancer playlist" and let the ai do it's thing. I'm not kidding when I say this, you can check it for yourself, the second playlist is literally called "playlist for the non binary necromancers" like it was made for me specifically xd Btw really good compilation kudos to whoever made it! Anyway the new artist I found is Bear Ghost, specifically recommend Necromancin dancin and Starkiller.

Team Bruno fr, I think I was sold pretty quickly and he only got better and better for me haha-

It’s pretty funny because if I’m watching anything with someone and they see me taking notes they’re usually a bit confused but curious about what I might be writing down haha. Usually it’s never anything that important to the story (unless it’s some major detail I don’t wanna forget) and it’s just me just taking notes about traits about the characters I like.

Here, I’m happy to share a couple of my silly notes! I think this shows a pretty accurate variety of the stuff I was noting:

How it started😭😭: “Ok wow Bruno’s little partners are completely insane.

This guy in blue is super superstitious

Fugo acts all calm but he has QUITE a temper

Little guy is just learning. And also incredibly angry.

I wrote out the bit of backstory they revealed about his childhood, which is one thing, but as I was scrolling through my notes looking for interesting examples I noticed I even wrote down a note about how Bruno weighed a little bit more than Prosciutto, I guess I just found that interesting lol.

And I found a special fondness for his place in the other team member’s backstories, but specifically Narancia’s. Bruno’s a specific character type I’ve always admired. I know I won’t be the best at explaining it but I loved that part about how he yelled at Narancia about joining the mafia, but he wasn’t really angry and was just trying to protect him from a life he might regret. One of my favorite scenes for sure. I love that kinda thing.

AND the way his face softened when Narancia swam after them, he was so. Happy. Please. Let Bruno be happy more often-

And I lost it at the “Arrivederci,” scene during the Grateful Dead arc, it was actually so cool and I feel like just watching that scene raised my own coolness by 5%.

Ok trying not to ramble too much but I especially appreciated his reaction to Abbacchio’s death. Watching the leader character having to be strong for the team, but inwardly it’s hurting them so badly-

And to end it on a lighter note, even before I had started jjba I always had a fondness for Bruno’s design since I considered it super iconic and cool. It was neat to finally get to actually see him since he was one of the few Jojo characters I actually knew by name before watching.

And of course the occasional: wow Bruno is so hot when he *insert various hot Bruno moments here*

Fell so hard for him, wow. I do enjoy a few Jojo characters, my other really big one being Rohan, but like. If I had to pick one to actually be with how could I Not pick Bruno-

On the topic of Bruno’s role in Narancia’s backstory—I’m going to recommend you read Purple Haze Feedback. (Here’s a link to the translated story!) It’s a novel that takes place after the events of Golden Wind. The story follows Fugo as he attempts to redeem himself in Giorno’s eyes. The best part is that PHF expands on everyone’s backstory—especially for Narancia, Bruno, and of most of all, Fugo.

PHF is not written by Araki, but there’s original illustrations from him within the novel. So is it canon? Eh—it’s semi-canon. Because this was written well before the anime came out, there are some minor contradictions to the anime’s version of the story. PHF lines up fine with the manga. …So I guess you can choose if it’s canon or not. (I like to pretend it is.)

PHF isn’t very long. I read it straight through in about 4 hours. (I could NOT put it down.)

Anyway!

You know what’s funny? I also adored Bruno’s design before actually watching part 5. And then I watched it and the same shit happened to me. We’re absolutely twinning in this scenario. 😩
