I've seen a few different people talk about how they're disappointed in how Odysseus and Athena's reunion went, saying that they don't like how they didn't reconnect and left the bridge burnt because he is now a "monster". I didn't interpret this part this way. I think Athena is still looking for her warrior to train and needed to be told that it couldn't be Odysseus anymore.

I feel like a lot of the epic fandom forgets how old Odysseus is suppose to be at this point because Jorge still looks and sounds like a young man but Odysseus is likely somewhere in his early forties or even getting close to fifty. He has spent the last 20 years of his life fighting and all he wants now is to stay home and grow old with his family. Athena was offering him a chance to help her change the world and help people be better. He isn't telling her no because he's angry at her or the world, he's just tired. He's fought too hard to get home to turn around and go start another fight. She needs to find someone younger, who still has faith that people can be good and has the energy to fight for that belief. (Someone like Telemachus who in the animatic shows every sign of being willing to be that warrior and help Athena). Odysseus even brings up that she's immortal and will have the all the time in the world to make a better place for people to live in but he reminds her that it isn't something his mortal lifespan will allow him to pursue.

He wants her to make the world she believes in and wishes her the best but he cannot be her warrior anymore and I think she accepts that and lets him rest.

i hereby hc he hums the tune of oh my boy sweetest joy ive known all the time, sometimes without noticing it. maybe while hes whittling a childs toy with tele in mind or when he sees him training in the courtyard or simply sitting in the gardens, his love for his boy is always on his tongue whether or not he realises it.

❗️❗️SPOILERS FOR THE ITHACA SAGA ❗️❗️

One thing I have yet to see people mention, Odysseus and Athenas conversation.

The show yourself, a call back to their first meeting. Already had my heart shattered. Broken like wow okay damn wasn't expecting that.

Then the fact she tries to empathise with him has learnt that open arms is a good thing, that was so sweet had me in tears. But Odysseus' response that's what gets me, the fact that he doesn't entirely reject the idea, he still hold polites' ideology close to his heart but he knows that it won't work for him. Its not the right time, he can't wait and take a chance allowing others to hurt the people he holds dear, not again, not when they're the only things he has left.

Ody telling Athena that she'll be able to make that world true. That idea Polites had, while it's not possible for him yo live that life, one day it might be possible for others.

Yeah that convo had me in tears. It hit REALLY fucken hard

Okay, thanks to comments here is what i am thinking now.

Ody is sneaking around, takes everyones weapons, puts them all in the armory and locks that shit up, as well as all major exits to the palace. Now this raises another question because how does Telemachus get in, he doesnt see like he would carry a house key with him.

I want to go to The Odyssey canon where both of them planned this together, but due to the reunion in I Cant Help but Wonder, we know that in Epic canon this is when they finally meet. So either Telemachus is already in the palace before Ody locks everyone in, or... idk. okay so.

Tele is already in the palace. Did he ever actually leave? The suitors seemed to think he was gone. MAYBE. Athena warned Tele of the suitors plotting and so he made his return quietly and discreetly. I dont see how lying about Tele going on a mission would benefit anyone, we know it made the suitors feel more entitled and violent. Telemachus is the biggest opposition they face in their goal to attain the throne, and Penelope. Tele has no contact with Ody, so it's not like he is planning some surprise ambush all on his own.

So tele notices hm, these bitches are dying hell yeah let me get in on that. Realizes there ain't no weapons anywhere. Goes to the armory, and his ass leaves it unlocked while he rummages through not only the palaces weapons, but the suitors own weapons as well. Hes in a cornor trying to make sure he didnt pass over some super cool and epic and deadly sword when he hears the suitors running down the hall, growing closer. The whole palace is dark, (another question. is it nighttime? Why did antinous say "i heard today he comes back to town," if its night time. the day is over... I know even in daylight itd be dim without torches lit in the palace, but I struggle to picture this happening during the day.) I imagine Tele knows this place well enough that he didn't have a torch, especially because he's sneaking trying to avoid the suitors. So he just gets quiet and waits.

The suitors come in, they start shit talking and grabbing weapons and finally Tele is like fuck u actually and kills one.

Previosly i was imagining Telemachus showing up in the door way of the armory, but it makes much more sense that hes already inside before the suitors enter. They have their little dialogue, "we dont fight fair," And Tele bolts, he escapes the armory and now they're fighting in the halls, botta bing botta boom, the rest of "Odyseuss" plays, my mercy has long since drowned, all of you are going to die, blood bath, i will fall in love with you over and over again, waiting, i love you, happy ending.

One thing I am a bit lost on is the significance of the weapons room being unlocked.

In The Odyssey, all the suitors were locked inside one room where Odysseus and Telemachus slaughter them all. Their weapons were also taken and hidden away.

I wouldn't be hung up on it if it werent for

"I find it hard to believe that the sharpest of kings left his armory unlocked"

But like... yeah you're right... why would he leave it unlocked? In my head I imagined it's part of the game for Odysseus. He wouldn't carelessly leave the armory unlocked, not after everything he's been through. But idk, it almost gets Telemachus killed. I feel like that line had so much intention behind it though. It feels like Jorge is looking at me and saying to my face "Isn't it weird Ody left it unlocked? Wonder why he did that."

Just spent the last hour screaming and crying because of the Ithaca saga. It's absolutely amazing, Jorge and everyone else involved did a beautiful job throughout the entire project. I'm so sad it's done but I can't wait to see what else Jorge and the rest do in the future 💜

idk if this has ever been said but I've been rewatching epic animatics and I noticed in I Can't Help But Wonder he says:

"Usdd to say I'd make the storm clouds cry for you. Used to say I'd capture wind and sky for you"

And he DID

He caused so many storms by upsetting the gods trying to get home. He went to aeolus with and got a bag of captured wind to get home.
