Introducing Inkwarren: A dark fantasy TTRPG of woodland adventures!
Hi all! I'm Matt, and I am an Atlanta-based indie ttrpg designer currently developing Inkwarren, a dark woodland fantasy TTRPG of swashbuckling tactics and storybook intrigue. Today, I'm going to talk to you about what Inkwarren is, what inspired it, and the design goals I have for the game. Inkwarren is already in preliminary playtests, and I hope to have public playtests sometime in the near future.
What is Inkwarren?
In Inkwarren, players take on the role of woodlanders- animal wanderers of the massive Woodland, who use magick, wits, and weapons to take down foes supernatural and mundane. Your woodlanders' wandering band may be a band of mercenary adventurers, a band of high-spirited rebels, or even a band of scoundrels and ne'er-do-wells just looking for their next score.
One player takes on the role of the Voice in the Dark, a guiding force behind the story that presents challenges, describes consequences, and narrates the actions of the woodlander's foes.
Inkwarren aims to merge modern-style deep narrative rules with exciting, flashy, swashbuckling battles that emphasizes teamwork, movement, and positioning. Character creation is a deep and choice-driven process, that fully contextualizes a woodlander within the world and sets them on a path to a truly memorable story.
Inspirations
Mechanically, Inkwarren borrows from and is inspired by games like Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition, Modiphius's Dishonored, ICON, Blades in the Dark, and City of Mist, mixing design trends of modern tactical fantasy games with deep narrative based trends found in other systems. Inkwarren's combat also shares inspiration with the Hades series of games, aiming to emulate the fast-paced action where movement and positioning are just as important as the attacks you use.
Narratively, Inkwarren is inspired by The Secret of NIMH, Dishonored, Redwall, Root, and Hollow Knight. When designing Inkwarren's eponymous setting, I want to evoke the gravitas and melancholy somberness of Hallownest from Hollow Knight, with magic as eldritch and strange as the Outsider's gifts in Dishonored. With this, Inkwarren is still a game about hope, and aims to capture the optimism-despite-adversity and little-heroes-against-great-foes vibes of stories like Redwall or The Secret of NIMH. I have to credit Root for originally giving me the idea to shift my game concept to one where the PCs are little woodland creatures.
Choice, Sacrifice, and Hope
Inkwarren's core mechanic emphasizes choice, intent, and narrative weight. The base 2d10 roll is modified by the woodlander's own Virtues (core strengths like Brawn, Nimbleness, or Insight), combined with a Style to define how they're using that Virtue (such as performing an action Cunningly, Quickly, or Sneakily). Difficulty is measured by Risk and Effect, that assign narrative weight to the severity of consequences a woodlander faces, and how effective they will be if they Prevail.
When woodlanders just don't roll high enough, they don't simply fail- they Falter. Faltering grants Hope, a resource that can be used to Persevere and succeed despite consequences on future challenges. With Hope, failure is never the end- it simply closes one door, and opens another.
Swashbuckling Battles
Inkwarren's Battle system emphasizes movement, positioning, and teamwork. Woodlanders interact with the battlefield through exploits, combat disciplines that have a variety of different effects to use on the field. Exploits have an at-will root effect that can be used as a woodlander's bread and butter, but more powerful effects are always within reach. By using root effects, meeting battle objectives (such as defeating enemies or reaching escape points), and continuing the fight (by ending rounds), woodlanders build Momentum, a shared resource pool by the entire band that can be used to power a woodlander's most powerful abilities. Woodlanders can spend Momentum to use an exploit's powerful bloom effect, or power a duo effect that they can use to combine their abilities with those of another ally. Momentum doesn't deplete until the Battle is over-- use it for quick bursts, or build up to unleash more powerful attacks against your foes!
Other rulesets like charging attacks, staggering mechanics for bosses, climbing on top of larger foes, environments, high ground, and ally turns (that don't clog up combat) also add gravitas, pace, and exciting tactical decisions to make Inkwarren's Battles so engaging.
Sweeping Narrative
Inkwarren's narrative mechanics work to ensure that solving problems outside of Battle carry just as much weight as Battle itself. Inkwarren's narrative ruleset includes:
The Doubt system allows woodlanders to call upon the Voice in the Dark for aid, but at a cost: as the woodlanders build Doubt, the Voice can spend it to increase the danger of the surroundings, unlock new abilities for foes, or act as a mastermind behind the antagonistic forces of the narrative.
Narrative abilities called flourishes that woodlanders can use to interact with the world.
A special character-based tour de force that a woodlander may use to do something truly legendary, although infrequently.
Rest Activities woodlanders may use to Cook Meals, Spar, Entertain, or Pray to give themselves bonuses and restorations for use later.
Wounds to carry over how trials in-combat affect a woodlander after the Battle ends.
Rules for Tongues that establish a woodlander's knowledge of a language with several levels of fluency.
Ties, which are narrative bonds with NPCs woodlanders may use to increase their effect against them, or burn them to ask for a favor.
And So Much More!
Deep character customization for woodlanders, including a Coat mechanic that allows you to play as any little animal your heart desires, unique and evocative traditions like the ghostly historian Folklorist or the passionate Warrior-Poet, rules for mysterious and magical artifacts called esoterica, an in-depth crafting system, and more!
If you've gotten this far, thanks for reading! I'm so excited about this game, and I hope to share more with everyone soon!
Tìoraidh!

RWBY and Neurodiversity
Ive been thinking about this for a while but resisted posting until Volume 9 ended. Mainly to see how Ruby’s ascension would resolve, because I knew it would impact how I felt about this.
Also this is long. Like seriously long. Once I started it got out of hand. But I feel it is all Important.
I will start by saying that I am autistic, and I have friends and family who are both autistic and or neurodiverse. I also understand that a lot of this maybe subtext or head cannon, and at times deeply personal. I also get that this will never be made cannon or had ever even be intended by CRWBY. But, I cannot escape some of the connections I have made or how I relate to some characters.
Right with that out of the way
RUBY IS AUTISTIC, or at least somewhere on the spectrum.
From the first volume I could see some of the traits coming through. From the use of headphones and music separating her from the world around her. Her over exuberance when is excited or interested in something. Right up to her passion/special interest in weapons and being a huntresses. This is not to lessen the other characters interests or passions, but Ruby’s is very much all consuming. She speaks about how she went over board on Crescent Rose’s design, and about how much she likes others designs. Including Jaune’s classic Crocea Mors. I cannot help but see my own love of history. That took me to university and beyond. Like Ruby with any weapon, I love any history.
Then there is her abilities in the classroom. Ruby is clearly a natural talent, but she is never shown to be a savant. She has issues keeping her attention in class and with the work load. Although I do understand that this can be put down to being jumped ahead and that Port n Oobleck’s class seem to have a similar effect on others. Much like me and some of my friends we had classes we loved but struggled to show it though other academic difficulties.
The early volumes also cover her struggles to connect with people. Such as wanting to be with Yang, instead of meeting new people. Or with Weiss and hers rocky relationship, early on. Countered with the open acceptance by Jaune, who sees a fellow outsider. Although for different reasons. Her own comment of wanting “normal knees” is something I think everyone one with autism can relate too. The wish to be just like everyone else and not stand out. That, at times, can be the greatest wish living in a world you struggle with.
Then there’s the events post Beacon. They show a defining personality trait so common in autism. Her unshakeable moral centre. It can be hard to describe but it is well documented the autistic people have a very strong sense of justice and morals. Although obliviously not all the same morals. We are all have a different in outlook, just like everybody else. Ruby’s is based around helping people and making the world a better place.
This is shown most strongly in her mission to walk to Haven. Even if most would say she is too young and it is too dangerous, for 4 unqualified huntsmen/huntress. They went and got hurt and burnt out along the way. Yes others went with her but would they have gone without her taking the lead. It shows a lack of self awareness that can be common as autistic people. To the point that they burn themselves out pushing to achieve things, without taking time for themselves.
The other massive tell is her reaction to Ironwood. She has no dislike for him and shares his goal. But, his actions and plans go against her moral code. So again she sticks to her morals and works to stop him, while rescuing Atlas, at the same time. Yes others agreed that he was in the wrong, but would the likes of Winter changed their allegiance, without someone like Ruby offering an alternative.
Then we get to the biggest thing for me and the reason I felt I had to put my feelings down. Volume 9. While Ruby’s mental state and issues during this volume are very much based in trauma, lose and depression. That a lot of people can relate too, not just the autistic community. I cannot help but think about what she says before she drinks the tea. “I don’t want to be me anymore.” I have never related to a character more. Or be triggered more, for that matter. When I spoke to some of my autistic friends about it, it was something all of us had felt at one moment or another, to varying degrees. See we all know we cannot separate autism from the rest of our person. Most of us don’t even know what is an autistic trait and what is just us. But, I need to make this clear, none of us want a cure or to be changed. More the reaction was things I have felt at times when at your lowest a small voice screams that would it be easier if you weren’t you.
Then there is Ruby’s ascension. After episode 9 when it was put to her she could change to be someone else, and people where discussing how she might change, if you see Ruby though the lens I’ve described it can be harmful.
Now I don’t want it to sound like I’m accusing CRWBY of not thinking about this. Thousands of people watch RWBY and can be effected by it in ways they would not think, not having that person’s experience. They are telling a story, and that story includes these real moments.
Back to the point. Telling someone with autism or that person thinking they have to change to achieve or be accepted is a horrible experience. And it is something almost all autistic people experience. It is the reason we learn to mask and hide who we are. The world tells you that it is what’s expected of you. So when in episode 10 Ruby chooses herself and is then reminded that her friends accept her for being herself. It is powerful. Again I understand that this can relate to a lot of things; imposter syndrome, being gay or race issues. But, as someone who is autistic this is how I saw it. I personally have only had 2 people truly accept me like this.
PENNY is the only other character I see as on the spectrum. Obviously a lot of her character traits are put down to her being a robot. But as Ruby says to her does that make her any less a real person. In fact the relationship between Penny and Ruby is a massive indicator for me of them being on the spectrum. When they first team Ruby asks if she was just like Penny to Weiss. It is not uncommon for autistic people to spot each other quickly, whether they realise it or not. Then when they meet up at the tournament, both feel no need to hide who they are. Ruby is openly dorky in asking Penny about Ciel’s knowledge and Penny doesn’t hide her excitement to see her friend.
This is repeated multiple times when Penny returns in Atlas. Each time they see each other they share and communicate in away that they don’t with others. Such as hugging Ruby first and asking do all hugs feel like this, before hugging others. She knows that Ruby will be honest and non-judge mental. In fact we can see how non autistic people react when Penny is her over excited, unmasked, self in front of them. Winter stopping Penny bouncing is a typical action from neurotypicals. Even if it comes from a place of care and concern, with no wish to harm, as I believe Winters was. But it is something neither Penny or Ruby would do to the other.
Then there is Penny’s morals. She is clearly guided to help her friends, people and world. At great detriment to herself. She becomes the hero of Mantel, protecting those who can not protect themselves, and when others will not. Much like Ruby she will risk it all for her sense of justice.
One of the most impactful parts of Penny’s story is that of virus. I didn’t even think of this, my friend pointed it out when I spoke to her about it. But her Penny is controlled by the virus, she felt it worked as a metaphor for Applied Behaviour Analysis or ABA. Which if you haven’t heard of it, is a horrible thing to experience as someone with autism. Much like conversion therapy for the LGBTQ+ community this works by trying to train you out of being autistic and make you more accepting for others. Penny is pushed towards things she doesn’t want to do and most horribly to do harm. She becomes a tool to the villains, which can also mirror how some savant autistics are treated. There skills used for a “greater good” instead of them being in control of their own destiny.
Now I want to move on to discuss Ships. These are all Ruby related and while I’m not saying these should be cannon or that they are over other ships, cannon or otherwise, but I feel they work at different points in Ruby’s story when viewed as discussed above.
LADYBUG is the first ship I gravitated towards in the show. For me Blake was the first character to simply accept Ruby as who she was. This does stem from Blake’s own wish to be accepted for who is she and not what she is, but it is still important to outwardly show it to others as well. I understand that a lot of people find this to be a boring ship, I think that’s because it lacks drama, but for me the idea of someone new accepting you without question or concern is powerful. That is why I like the ship. It is comforting and has little interpersonal drama between the two. More mutually assured care and concern. In fact that is why they talk so little in the show. They understand and trust each other. One of the many reasons people have Blake as a deputy team leader, during and after the events of Volume 9, is this mutual trust.
NUTS AND DOLTS maybe the most loved ship these days. Outside of Bumblebee, that is. As I have already gone into Penny and Ruby’s relationship as being very neurodiverse. They are themselves with each other, and communicate more easily with the other. Although I would add this is the only one I see as asexual, but I think both characters can be seen as both asexual and not. Just when they are together, they are asexual. Plus after events in Volumes 8 & 9 I think we can call it as close to cannon as possible.
WHITEROSE i find the most interesting. At the start of the series I never got it. Weiss was mean and uncaring to Ruby. Why would Ruby ever being interested romantically in Weiss. But then as the show progress I understood it. Weiss is just as bigger dork as Ruby but due to reasons outside of autism, she had to mask this. Seeing Ruby act as she wishes and not be punished for it, as she might have been, lets her drop the mask. Two big things outside of the main show solidified this for me. The first is Ice Queendom. We see inside Weiss’ mind and how she has locked away her childish side for protection. Going as far as to do the same thing to Ruby. The second is that I was recently introduced to The Owl House. Luz and Amity’s relationship has a lot of similarities to Weiss and Ruby. Both start with a cold and unforgiving person who is thawed by the loveable dolt. Bringing out there more natural playful side, originally hidden away to protect themselves. Now after the loss of Penny and Weiss being so accepting of Ruby in the ever after. She is the first to call her name when she returns and doesn’t ask any questions, after all. I can see it becoming cannon. If there is time.
Thank you for reading this I know it is long but I felt I never saw much discussion about RWBY from this perspective.

Basic Concept Guide 💫
Hi everyone! Welcome to a (long due) concept guide! I hope you guys are excited– I LOVE creating concept guides!
Before we begin:
Tomorrow is Mahou Planets 3rd anniversary! Tomorrow, we plan on hosting a fun gamenight to celebrate three years of Mahou Planet! I recommend joining the server if you’d like to participate!
So sorry about the general inactivity! AP exams are coming up and I’ve been cramming for my AP exams I take soon. To those taking AP exams, good luck! I’ll be taking the AP US History and the AP Precalc exams. May the spirits who miraculously gave me a 5 on my AP Government exam be with us :)
Now, to the guide!
🩷 WHAT IS A CONCEPT?
A concept is a general idea of what kind of magical hero you want to be. This could vary from canon media, such as Precure or Madoka Magica, to a completely original idea– or maybe both to some extent. Concepts build the foundation of what kind of magical hero you want to be. A concept can be as detailed or as vague as you want. Concepts are typically linear: you’re a specific type of magical hero with a specific aesthetic and goal.
There are different types of magical heroes that can get incredibly specific and in-detail. Luckily for you guys, I’m willing to hold back on my worldbuilding skills until some later time.
There is no right or wrong way to create a concept. I’m sort of expecting those who are already interested in creating original characters or create stories to have an easier time with this than those who have zero experience with character creation. I’d like to keep concept creation simple as this is a relatively new account with beginner level guides. So, I’ll do as such in this tutorial.
🧡 HOW DO I GET STARTED WITH MAKING A CONCEPT?
Again, there is no right or wrong way to make a concept. I can’t exactly tell you what works and what doesn’t, because what works for me may not work for you. Here are a couple of methods I used in creating my magical hero concept, as well as some methods I have seen in the past:
One way I created my concept is by narrowing down exactly what I want as a magical hero. Start by asking yourself questions. These can be as vague or as specific as you’d like. These will begin narrowing down what kind of magical hero you would like to be, what you’ll be fighting, what you’ll look like, etc. A couple of questions to consider are:
Would I like to take on a pre-existing concept, something completely original, or maybe a mix of both?
What will I be fighting for? What important societal or spiritual values will I uphold as a magical hero? Because of this, what do I fight?
If I’m not going to be physically fighting evil, how will I combat the forces stopping said value from existing?
Do I want teammates, or do I want to work by myself?
How do I receive my magical abilities? Am I born with them? Are they granted to me by a familiar? Is there a higher power in my concept that gives me them? Or is there just no explanation?
Speaking of, will I have a familiar/mascot in my concept? Or will I just figure out things on my own?
What aesthetic am I trying to harbor as a magical hero? Does this aesthetic fit in with my civilian self, or is it something out of the ordinary?
What do I want to look like when I transform?
What weapon or weapons will I be using? What kind of powers am I going to possess? Will these be effective in upholding my values?
What role will I play in helping other magical heroes in the future? Will I be a fighter, support, or maybe both? Am I a frontliner or a backliner?
Just by asking these questions, you can already get pretty specific details about your concept. Continue asking these questions about as many prompts as you want (secondary forms, transformation device, etc.) If you need any help or more detailed questions to ask about your magical hero self, you can send a ask or join our Discord and ping Georgia (me) or any other members with the okay with pings role for help!
Another way to create concepts is to create a DO and DO NOT list. We’ve likely done these in school, creating diagrams or comparison charts. This is the same thing, and can be applied to even the smallest details in your concept.
I recommend either making this list in a word processor (Docs, Notion, Microsoft Word) or writing things down physically. Basically, you make a two-row column. Title a section DOs and the other DO NOTs. Then, write down what you want and don’t want as a magical hero. If you’re not sure what you want, then start with what you don’t want and vise versa.
For example, if I’m starting with the DO NOT side of the list, I’d probably write something like “I don’t want my concept to be dark.” That already wipes out a lot of dark magical hero shows, themes found in dark concepts, etc. I could also write something like “I do want my weapon to be a wand.” That already decides your weapon. You can be as detailed or vague as you want for this list.
Eventually, you’ll look at each side of the list and compare. Write down what you’ve learned, for example: I have a fun and lighthearted concept, and my weapon is a wand. Just from this statement alone, I can already envision a lot of concept ideas!
A more common method I’ve seen is by taking inspiration from different media. Let’s say you really like the outfits used in Madoka Magica for the Holy Quintent, and want to use them for your team. Then, you get the idea of having a Precure styled backstory: a kingdom gets overrun by evil rulers and it’s your teams job to restore it. You basically repeat the process with more medias that interest you, and BAM! A concept!
It’s an easier method, and it’s also a nice method if you’d like to incorporate your interests into your concept. If you have any hyperfixations or special interests, I’d recommend adding those into your concept to ensure you stay interested in your concept.
Some more ideas to create a concept:
Search for some inspiration for your concept on YouTube, Pinterest, tumblr, etc.
Ask your friends what may fit you the most as a magical hero (if they’re unaware of magical heroes, you can ask them more unsuspecting questions like “What powers do you think I would have?”)
Get a reading on what your concept could be! A couple of Mahou Planet members are able to provide free readings, myself included!
Join someone else’s existing concept, could be a friend or an existing magical hero show
The most important takeaway from this is to have fun! Like I said before, there’s no right or wrong way to make a concept. What matters is that it’s something you enjoy, something you’re willing to fight for, and something you love! 💞
Thanks so much for reading all of this– I probably rambled for longer than I should’ve. I’m gonna go back to binging Heimler’s History. Hope you guys have a good rest of your week!! MP out!

Okay so. I've been sitting on my full first impressions of the game until after the gameplay reveal, cos I know shit can get twisted in marketing.
I was NOT a fan of the trailer. The vibe was off; I cringed a lot; it gave a off very bog-standard hero team saves the day kind of vibe which I inherently dislike because it seems like Dragon Age has just given up on giving you the freedom to be a bastard, or any kind of character that isn't on rails to be everyone's favourite boy. It also failed to bring any dark fantasy to the table. BUT I know from experience, namely the DA2 trailer (not the CGI one. the other one), that marketing is intent on making Dragon Age look like the goofiest shit possible to appeal to the dregs of society (normies). I watched it. Hated it. Moved on to life stuff.
Now with the gameplay reveal out of the way, I have some more solid takes on everything we now know about the game overall.
Things I liked:
The companions all look pretty cool; I've been excited for Devrin for years now, and seeing that he's a Dalish Elf as well as a Warden is quite exciting to see; everyone else are also not only well designed but don't feel like rehashes of our previous companions (apart from Harding)
The return of multiple weapon sets. Thank fucking god. This may even make archer a viable build again. Also I noted that you only have a set number of arrows which the UI tracks, which I'm a huge fan of
The look and style of Minrathous. I like that Bioware is showing their hard work in coming up with a unique area based entirely around magic-tech and I think the result looks great; I am really intrigued by the dark panopticon vibes and hope that becomes a major theme going forward
Different demon designs. I hope there's a bit more variation as the game progresses, but I liked little details like the Pride demons having some kind of armour aesthetic
Dialogue wheel. No notes; she's here, still the same comforting presence as ever. Praying with fingers crossed that it doesn't turn into a super bland protagonist situation like Inquisition
Choosing a faction in character creation that isn't locked to one's race; this one is a really cool idea and if origins don't come back it can be a decent alternative if the reactivity to your choice is the same as in the prologue
Things I didn't like:
Action wheel. Like. I'm a PC person, so I have no idea what the final UI will actually look like for me. But Bioware hasn't elaborated on their UI style at all and if Inquisition is anything to go by, I'm stuck with shitty console-centred UI for the whole game. I would rather just have the ability bar back, for my sanity.
The two-person companion limit. It automatically restricts people into a specific party build depending on their class and I hate that
The Mass Effect-style gameplay. Party tactics was a HUGE draw to the DA series for me, and is what got me into retro RPGs in the first place. Seeing it replaced completely to the point where we can no longer manually manage our party is a huge disappointment. I am willing to keep an open mind, just because I love Mass Effect that much, but it hurts knowing for a certainty I'm never gonna engage with Veilguard like I did with Origins or 2 as a result
The voice acting. Was this an out of date take, or did everyone sound super flat to anyone else? Especially Neve, who didn't seem to know what she was reacting to, just really wooden. It was disappointing, cos I love her voice overall. Wasn't a fan of Rook's voice but I don't plan to play a man anyway
The breaking pots method of looting. This is gonna feel like such a nitpick but I immediately pulled a face seeing that cos I could TELL some suit somewhere asked the Bioware team to "make it more like breath of the wild" and now for some reason it's not dynamic enough to just click on a crate and choose what loot to take; now Tevinters are storing exactly one (1) random health potion in decorative clay jars around the city (more likely than you think!)
The aesthetic of the veil and spirit stuff so far; it's just all a bit bright and noisy, doesn't really grab me as something fun to explore or fight (again, I'm an Origins girly so I'm biased)
Harding coming back. I know she's cool and everyone likes her and I like her too. In Inquisition. This is just a preference, but if I'm gonna start a new game as a new person I don't want to be inheriting pre-bought friends from the last protagonist ://
Things I HATE:
Why does everyone look like play-doh; it's disconcerting.
Like guys I know DA2 is having a renaissance but I don't think anyone was getting nostalgic over everyone's pudding faces.
Everything put out so far has basically crushed any hope I had for this becoming Dwarf age :/ No new dwarf characters, no mention of Kal-Sharok, Harding being the only dwarf companion basically confirms that dwarves will be unromanceable AGAIN. not a fan
TLDR: This is still definitely not a day-one buy for me. The series has just strayed completely from the genre and format that I loved about the previous games into a full action RPG derivative of games from four years ago. Without the focus on party tactics and the low-tech, dark and gritty worldbuilding from the first two games it just fails to excite me. It looks too much like other games for me to really register it as a Dragon Age game.
I love the story and the world of Dragon Age though, so I do still intend to buy it when it goes on sale, but this is definitely a "wait and see the reviews" situation for me, which is a first when it comes to this series :/

Mass Effect Tag Game
I was tagged by @illusivesoul, thank you! <3 I'll tag in @shadowthehedgehog1 @angstyastro @zet-sway @stormikins @bluerose5 @jtownnn @yellingaboutmasseffect @callista-curations @impishbiscuit @spookyvalentine @skittidyne @jadevakarian But I could be tagging all day so please everyone join in if you'd like and no worries if you don't!
Here's the blank questions, and my answers are below the cut!
I am a fan since: Favourite game of the series?: MShep or FShep?: Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?: Biotics or Tech: Paragon or Renegade: Favourite Class: Favourite Companion: Least favourite Companion: My squad selection: Favourite In-game romance: Other pairings I like: Favourite NPC: Favourite Antagonist: Favourite Mission: Favourite Loyalty Mission: Favourite DLC: Control, Synthesis or Destroy: Favourite Weapon: Favourite Place: A quote I like:
My answers:
I am a fan since:Legendary Edition release (better late than never!)
Favourite game of the series?:2 wins overall, due to how much I loved learning about the new companions and all their little side quests and the excitement of prepping for the big mission. 3 has the best overall mechanics though, and the npc’s being able to banter is top notch.
MShep or FShep?: Both, but I tend to create themsheps anyway.
Earthborn, Colonist or Spacer?:Keahi is a colonist, Blaise a spacer AU. I think all the backgrounds have juicy potential but find the idea of growing up out there in this big new galaxy exciting.
Biotics or Tech:Probably tech for my sheps, but I love having a biotic in the squad as backup. I’ll usually have 1 biotic ability as my Shep’s bonus and chalk it up to funky side effects of how they resurrected Shep in 2.
Paragon or Renegade:Generally paragon but some renegade interrupts.
Favourite Class:Infilitrator. Sniper Rifles are always my fave (or archers in fantasy games).
Favourite Companion: Such a tough question. As there’s a romance question later, i’ll save Thane for then. I’m also going to answer as me rather than who my shep’s would pick. I think Mordin is honestly the companion I got most excited about going to chat with or hearing unique lines from. And while not ‘companions’, I have such soft spots for Traynor and Cortez and consider them honourary squaddies.
Least favourite Companion:I mean there are plenty who I think have questionable morals/ideas/attitudes, but it doesn’t make me dislike them, it makes them interesting and gives fresh perspectives, so this is also a tough question. I feel bad for saying it, but I guess Liara? Only in that she gets so much priority in 1 and 3 but I don’t find her as interesting to chat with compared to others and also found her going from nerdy excitable anxious dork in 1 to ‘flay your mind’ corpo bad bitch in 2 gave me whiplash. The fact she sold shep’s body is another point deducted. And the way she let Shepard drop like hot shit in shadowbroker too, oof. I really don’t dislike her though and still find her overall character interesting.
My squad selection:I change it up a lot so I get to hear all the different things they have to say
Favourite In-game romance:Thane, followed by Steve Cortez and Samantha Traynor. Is anyone surprised?!
Other pairings I like:Feron x Kolyat, Thane X Cortez (why romance them separately when I can put them together instead!) Femshep x Miranda. I tend to headcanon my shep’s as older than the in game age so Jack feels too young for them, but I do love the Jack romance generally.
Favourite NPC:That one completely chill smoking salarian in the citadel DLC. Dandenbo’s icon always makes me grin reminding me of him. Also the salarian Thane rescued who had his whole world rocked and wrote an email about it. You go you funky little horny guy.
Favourite Antagonist:TIM is interesting because you get that having to work together and resenting the hell out of it aspect in 2. And look he’s by no means an effective antagonist, but Donovan Hock is objectively very funny.
Favourite Mission:The suicide mission. It isn’t the best mechanically, but it’s very satisfying after working towards it the whole game and getting yourself as ready as can be.
Favourite Loyalty Mission:Thane, i’m biased. Grunt’s rite of passage is also just fun.
Favourite DLC:I’ll go with 1 from each game. Bring down the sky- I just find something pretty satisfying about pootling around shutting the 3 rockets off and finding all the little out the way side bits. And that view! Lair of the Shadowbroker- Feron my beloved. Gotta save my boy. Leviathan- felt like a breath of fresh air with the piecing together clues, and such a great creepy atmosphere. You really finish it feeling like ‘this may help, but at what cost?’ and it feels significant.
Control, Synthesis or Destroy:So funny story, I got so confused the first time I played and kind of panicked, completely missed that you could choose to run a different direction and just ran full pelt forwards yeeting shepard to the centre. When that activated synthesis I spent the next 40 odd minutes watching my computer in growing utter horror/confusion. Anyway destruction is the actual choice but fuck that whole ‘this has to genocide the geth and Edi thing fuuuuuck.
Favourite Weapon:Upgrading to the widow is nice but I am quite fond of the M-97 Viper in earlier/lower levels, the 6 shot mag is especially favourable.
Favourite Place:I really love the brutalist architecture of Port Hanshan.
A quote I like:
I dare to assume you ignorant jackasses know that space is empty. Once you fire this hunk of metal, it keeps going til it hits something. That can be a ship, or the planet behind that ship. It might go off into space and hit somebody in 10,000 years. If you pull the trigger on this, you are ruining someone’s day, somewhere and sometime!

Happy ultra belated anniversary + other things
Hey there!
Been a while, hasn't it? So, all the way back in march this blog officially turned a year old, pretty cool huh? Anyways I don't have a whole lot to say, but I want to give some updates on plans and such I have down the line
The Exalted
Work on the Exalted (Formerly known as the Avatar) has been on and off again due to varying levels of motivation and me working on other projects, however, I can say that I have made great strides with this divine class with (As of writting) 35 epithets and seven different divine sparks (Their subclass) alongside a momentum like mechanic known as willpower. I hope you'll enjoy this demigodly class when I do release the playtest and eventually the full class.
The Accursed
Another class i've been working on that i'm excited to eventually show off is the Accursed, based on a similar class made by the one and only ross leiser, the accursed is someone that's become inflicted by a magical curse, however, they've since been able to control their curses power, using it for their own ends. While i'll go more in-depth with the accursed later, i'll give a basic rundown of the class
The accursed is a constitution based half caster that, rather than relying on spell slots instead uses a new resource called hex points, which it uses to both cast spells and fuel other various accursed abilities. Accurseds also have a few other features, such as Burdens, negative effects they've gained as a result of their curse, and overchannel, an stance that causes them to unleash the full power of their curse, regaining their hex points and granting them subclass specific abilities. The accursed is still in the design phase but I am super proud of how it is coming out as of now, and I cannot wait to showcase it to the public
Compendiums
While this is planned for the far future, I also plan on possibly packaging some of my content into large compendium PDFS down the line, like potentially packaging both the accursed and the exalted in one pdf, alongside some new spells and subclasses. I already have an idea of a purely martial based document, complete with new weapons, feats, subclasses and two new martial classes: The Juggernaut and The Sovereign. But more about those will be discussed in due time.
Warlock Reborn Update
Ah the warlock reborn, my first published homebrew on this silly little blog, my attempt to rework the warlock class due to my dissatisfaction with the version presented in the One D&D UA. While I may cringe at the lacking quality now adays, it helped me get my name out here on this small side of the homebrewing community. While it is not on my mind, I have thought of going back and remastering the whole document, touching up the class features, subclasses, spells and more and providing a version much closer to my current design philosophies. Mind you this isn't exactly my first priority so it isn't guaranteed, but it might be fun to do given how much i've changed as a designer since then.
That's about all I got at the moment for this update, thanks to everyone who's followed, liked, reblogged my content (Especially the homebrew class design series) I hope ya'll will stick around for whatever content I put out in the near future.
But until next time, thanks for reading, go make some homebrew.

Contra: Operation Galuga Review - Finding A Way Forward - Game Informer
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/contra-operation-galuga-review-finding-a-way-forward-game-informer/
Contra: Operation Galuga Review - Finding A Way Forward - Game Informer
Once a tentpole franchise in the popular run-and-gun subgenre of action games, Contra has experienced a stark downturn in recent decades. Konami’s (mostly) side-scrolling shooter franchise has often gone long stretches without a release, and the games that have come out in recent years range from middling to downright bad. With Contra: Operation Galuga, Konami taps renowned retro-style developer WayForward, best known for its work on the Shantae series, to bring the once-renowned series back to its roots. While far from a one-to-one remake, Contra: Operation Galuga effectively captures the spirit of the original game while modernizing just enough to make for an exciting, albeit short, adventure.
The core conceits of the original Contra carry forward into this modern reimagining. Smooth platforming, solid 2D gunplay, and a wealth of power-ups are at your disposal as you take on a tough-as-nails campaign consisting of eight missions. The spread gun power-up remains extremely effective, but I adored blasting through hordes of enemies with items like the flamethrower, heat-seeking missiles, and lasers. Operation Galuga ups the ante by allowing you to stack power-ups, meaning the upgrade becomes more potent if you gather duplicate power-ups. On top of that, if you find your back against the wall or you’re about to pick up a new power-up, you can sacrifice your existing weapon to unleash a powerful Overload ability. These ultimate-style abilities provide aid in the form of additions like drones, shields, and clusters of attacks. I loved balancing the risk and reward of maximizing damage and effectiveness in tough combat scenarios.
[embedded content]
WayForward proves supremely capable of delivering stellar gameplay and strong level design within the confines of the established classic Contra games. By using the original levels more as guides than slavishly adhering to their layouts, WayForward competently injects big setpiece moments late ’80s technology could only dream of. Though the initial level and the ascent up a waterfall hold a special place in my heart due to nostalgia, I most enjoyed when WayForward added elements like a hoverbike to the base mission, or inserting a train into the ice level. Though there are only eight missions in Story Mode, these different formats go a long way to diversifying the experience, as do the multiple unlockable characters, each with unique special abilities. However, I am disappointed in the lack of 3D-style shooting gallery levels that were so iconic in the original NES game.
Additional enemy types, bosses, and areas to explore pad out the stages, and unless you hone your skills, it will be an uphill battle to get through Story Mode. While the term “bullet hell” wasn’t yet coined when Contra hit the NES in 1988, that term can retroactively be applied to certain sequences of that title. Those same sections have been reimagined and easily earn that designation in Operation Galuga. On various occasions, it took me multiple attempts to understand what I even needed to do to push through a difficult situation and, even more still, to execute the plan. True to its source material, Operation Galuga is a hard game.
Thankfully, you can adjust the difficulty in a couple of ways to make it more approachable. In both Story and Arcade Mode, you can choose a difficulty setting and decide if you’d rather have your character operate on the one-hit kill style of the original game or if you want HP associated with each life. These modernizations drastically improve the experience, though don’t expect these settings to make the missions a walk in the park.
These settings also don’t impact the aptly named Challenge Mode, which gives you 30 bite-sized objectives to complete. You can try your hand at speedrun, survival, boss battle, and weapon-specific challenges, but outside of the initial attempts, I never felt compelled to return to these. Arcade Mode offers a similar experience to that of Story Mode, but minus the superfluous cutscenes and narrative character restrictions. You can also play Arcade Mode in four-player co-op instead of the two-player limit in Story.
All these activities reward you with credits, which are used to buy perks from the in-game shop. These equippable boosts offer upgrades like additional HP, extra lives, new characters in Arcade Mode, and even bonuses like additional soundtracks and a fast-paced Speedrun Mode. Unfortunately, the perks are expensive, and I grew tired of farming credits long before I reached the amount I needed for the perks I was eyeing. Even entering the famous Konami Code just adds an expensive, purchasable perk in the shop.
Though the stages are much longer than their original forms, sometimes clocking in at around 15 minutes, playing through Story Mode only takes a couple of hours. Still, Contra: Operation Galuga packs a whole lot of action into those hours. When you add the more flexible Arcade Mode and difficult Challenge Mode, Operation Galuga is an admirable modernized reimagining of one of the most influential games of the late ’80s.

sharing another thought i had about peter painting your nails and then kissing your palm when he’s done 🥺
Dote on You || P.P
Ashanti!(i desperately need to come up with a nickname for you babes) I always get carried away with your requests so here is like...
Word Count: 1246 words of soft Peter Parker fluff
Warnings: Suggestiveness and mentions of a boner and insane amounts of fluff!
Read more here and request/give feedback here
Peter was so much different out of the suit than he was in it, the weaponized spandex making him have a confidence that was unknown to him and you always found it so interesting to watch. You always revelled in the way that he would be fighting a criminal, someone holding the power to destroy a city and when he won, he always won, he would return to you, peel the mask from his soft features and melt into your arms, cuddling his often scraped up face into the crook of your neck, and you loved it, you loved how you made him soft and weak in the knees.
You always spent time together after missions, taking time to recover while in each others arms, because when you were like that, nothing else mattered, it was the two of you doing stupid things and laughing, compartmentalizing, being there for each other through tears and stitches if the mission was rough. In this case, it wasn't anything special, the mission that is, the time afterwards was heavenly. You came back from the mission exhausted, stumbling off the jet and up the stairs to your bedroom, collapsing on your soft sheets still dressed in your suit. Peter had stayed home from this mission in particular, there really wasn't any reason other than Tony's fear of Aunt May, who had said that if he kept Peter away from family dinner that she would have his head on a plate, and nothing scared Tony more than that.
There was a knock on your door, but you were too lazy to sit up, let anyone in, or really even form words.
"HNANGGG" You groaned loudly, rolling onto your side and turning away from the door, expecting for the person to go away but that wasn’t the case, the sound of your door swinging open made you roll back towards it. “What do you wa-Petey!” you couldn’t help the smile that overtook your cheeks at the sight of you soft looking boyfriend, he was wearing an oversized white shirt and his favorite worn down, nappy sweatpants, the ones that practically every teenage boy had, but he wore them best, at least in your opinion. You sat up excitedly, opening your arms to welcome your boyfriend into your hold but the movement pulled a groan from your lips as you strained your bruised ribs. Peter’s face soured at the sound, dropping to sit at your side, looking at you with worried eyes.
“Baby? Are you alright?” he asked, fingertips threatening to undo the zipper of your suit and expose your wound to him, even though nothing would be showing externally quite yet.
“Yeah, yeah, I am alright, baby” you chuckle, curling further into your side as your eyes dip down to where his fingers were about to tug down the toggle of your zipper, you look back at him incredulously “You trying to get me naked, buddy?” you tease, shouldering him slightly, your words made Peter flush, face going red as he retracted his hand.
“Wha-no, I-I um just, I know your suit isn’t very comfortable and I was thinking we could relax and cuddle and I um have a surprise for what we could do” tucking your chin back into your neck you look at him with furrowed brows.
“A surprise?” there was a sparkle in your eyes that Peter caught, loving how excited you were.
“Mhmm, but let's get you into your pajamas first, your suit smells terrible” You open your mouth in feigned offence, pushing him back at the shoulders and giggling childishly, an action that Peter joined in on as his fingers found your zipper, pulling it down and assisting you in peeling it off of your body, leaving you naked from a mere moment.
“You’re so pretty” Peter hummed softly, tracing fingers gently over you bare shoulders making you shiver, looking down to avoid his gaze, eyes catching on a bulge in his pants.
“Is that a rock in your pocket or are you just excited to get me naked?” you chuckle, jabbing a finger towards the bulge as he hands you one of his shirts that he kept in your room because he knows how much you like to wear his clothing.
“Oh, um, that's the surprise” Peter mumbles, looking down bashfully as you slip the shirt over your head, looking at him with a sly smirk once cotton was no longer obstructing your view.
“Petey, I know what your dick looks like, that is no surprise to me baby” you laugh only making him groan.
“It's not my dick, Y/n!” Peter voices as he falls back on your bed, pulling a bottle of nail polish from his pocket, and though you were intrigued by the item you still weren’t ready to move on, especially now that there was still a bulge in his sweatpants, even though he had removed the supposed culprit.
“Hmm, you have another bottle of nail polish in there or are you really just happy to see me?” you chuckle, reaching out and poking him in the thigh.
“Oh fuck off, Y/n! You were naked, it happens, can I paint your nails now?” Peter sounded exasperated, collapsing down onto the bed, cuddling into your side.
Turning to face him you let a chuckle escape your smiling mouth, poking him in the cheek and sighing as the skin squished beneath your touch, no matter what he was such a boy, he was your boy, even if he was grown, he was your boy. “Of course you can, Petey” the smile that took over his soft face was so pure, so kind it made you want to scream.
“Okay, sit up” Peter orders, snaking an arm underneath your waist and helping you up into a sitting position.
The scent of acetone filled your nose as you watched Peter carefully unscrew the bottle of polish. His hand was warm as it grasped yours, spreading your fingers across his palm and precisely flicking the bristles over your nail, leaving streaks of color perfectly in its wake.
“How did you learn to paint nails so well, Petey Baby”
“First off, you know how much that nickname effects me, it makes me feel all glowy and like I am butter and just melting and I am trying to keep a steady hand so if you could not, please” you can’t help but laugh at his antics, making sure your giggle doesn’t make your hands move and effect his painting abilities. “And secondly, May and I used to have spa nights and I would paint her nails and then whenever she would have a date I would paint her nails, so I guess May taught me” he explains, scraping off some of the excess paint that had seeped into your nail bed. “Ta dah! All done” Peter exclaims, tightening the top on the bottle and throwing it aside, flipping over your palms and placing soft kisses to your skin, looking up to find you with your eyes fluttering shut and mouth slightly parted in a soft sigh.
“Let's get you to bed, baby” Peter sighs, moving to exit your bed.
“Only if you stay with me” you growl, pressing your palm to his chest and pushing him down so you wouldn’t smear your newly painted nails.
“Of course baby, I will always stay with you.”
I love feedback! Give Me Some Please

Warframe Devstream 164 Notes
Another change to the Rebb Creative Director era (erra) seems to be bringing in new people on the team for each stream, which is great! Love to see more of the personalities working on the game
I also appreciate the awareness brought to the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, which I didn't know about as I don't live in canada
Pablo speaking Spanish :)
this isn't related to the content of the stream, but right as Ven'kra and Sprag were shown and I eagerly went to pause and examine the new art, twitch dropped no less than 3 ADS on me. So much for excitement in the moment. I am so angry at the state of online video these days
but speaking of Venkra and Sprag, their weapons look sick as hell and I'm excited that we're getting skins for them! Especially that hammer
making the Veilbreaker Challenges cumulative is a really good idea, very gamer-friendly
(Honestly I've been a big fan of every decision Pablo has made since being crowned Lead Designer)
Styanax Foley deep dive!! I adore Styanax's sound effects and it was neat to see the individual noises that comprise them (especially if your ear can't distinguish them like me lol) definitely check that out (about half an hour into the devstream) if you're interested in sound design
thought it was neat to hear the difference between the spear throw sound and the spear impale sound
As an aside, Slater the sound designer called the 4 ability an ultimate, which will make my clanmate happy as i always poke fun at him for doing that lol
this is not Overwatch.
REVENANT PRIME yeah boyeeee 👻👻👻👻👻 !!!!
y'all don't even know, Phantasma is among my favourite guns, Tastu is my favourite nikana, Revenant is one of my mains and who I play almost exclusively in the month of October. One of my first posts on here was my Spoopy Revenant. and now it's ALL GETTING PRIMED :D
my spooky boy arrives October 5th!!
Do Revenant Prime thralls have a different icon above their heads or are my eyes deceiving me??
"flesh arsenal"
he looks so. Victorian. 🧐
Dark Magician is right, Megan's look has big Yu-Gi-Oh vibes
"classic vampire trope, lasers" "I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss the lack of laser vampires" this is very valid
haunted orbiter decorations!!
I kind of want to do Captura Tennotober but realistically I know I don't have it in me 😔
hello werewolf milf frame 🥺
chat doesn't like her but I think she looks great and I want her to tear my head off, personally
I'm interested to see what new Grineer lore Ven'kra and Sprag's interactions with Kahl will bring
the fucking. Dojo updates. Dojo decorations are the bane of my sleep schedule and it looks like I've got some more restless nights in my future!
the archon shard ephemeras look amazing, unfortunately for me as I do not do archon hunts
It's a small thing at the end, but ammo visuals are being changed to no longer rely on colour! Yay accessibility!
#warframe#devstream#devstream 164#ven'kra#sprag#revenant prime#vampires with lasers#sera's devstream notes#image transcriptions now added!#imagine writing 'yay accessibility!' in a post and then forgetting an alt text. smh

Fire Emblem Engage Thoughts:
I am so excited for Fire Emblem: Engage. I haven't stopped thinking about it since the reveal and the more I look into it the more excited I am.
Looking at Engage side-by-side with Three Houses, visually it isn't even a contest. Engage is so vibrant and nice to look at. Especially the animations. Three Houses combat had a much different feel to the usual combat because it was aiming for the "commanders on the battlefield" effect. So the attack animations sometimes felt more like toned down warriors animations instead of 1v1 battle animations. Which makes sense given most battles also had battalions chilling in the background. Engage's animations so far are a lot more personal and a lot flashier. The weapon hit effects in this game look so good, and they actually look like they are hitting the enemy as opposed to the massive arcs that the Three Houses attacks had. I have to imagine that ditching the Battalion system probably cleared up a ton of the graphical budget.
I'm not particularly a fan of Toothpaste-chan's design, but honestly it stopped bothering me almost instantly, and the rest of the designs look pretty solid. Overall the art direction is incredibly pleasing to the eye, and hopefully it won't have the same readability issues Three Houses had.
But Mechanics. That's what really has my brain hooked.
Now some of this is just speculation, but we've been given reason to speculate about some of the core mechanical changes. Here are the things that have me the most excited.
It looks like we're getting classes with more of an identity back. Classes seem to be weapon locked which means that each class/character has their own identity instead of classes just being skill containers. Hopefully this is paired with limited re-classing so we have some freedom on customization, but we don't end up with every character being able to be a wyvern lord.
Traditional FE Recruitment. Judging by the leaks, the Jaegan, and the fact that this isn't a school, we're probably heading back to the normal style of recruitment where you pick up random orphans/child soldiers across the story. This means you have a nice stream of replacement units and just new cool dudes joining your team, and that feels a lot more Fire Emblem than Three Houses's "Pick a school, kidnap some students, and then no new units"
Skills. The handful of skills we've seen actually have some massive impact. The Override/Momentum skill that we saw in the trailer where the cavalier charged through multiple units and damage both of them. I want that. I want to see more absurd movement/AOE skills that make you think up new crazy strategies.
The Engage system. I'm a bit hesitant on the idea of "summoning past heroes" because nostalgia bait, but also the idea of having a handful of powerups to assign to your army that give you some powerful and flashy new abilities is super cool and actually seeing it in action has me completely on board.
Maps. We've only seen a few maps so far, but they seem to be smaller and more detailed than Three Houses maps. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective, but I'm hopeful that this means things are more tightly designed and lead to more interesting tactical decisions.
There are a few things that I'm slightly more iffy on, but they are minor issues that I'll need to see how the whole game is before I can really judge them.
Lack of Weapon Durability. Weapon Durability is a very controversial mechanic in many games, but it always felt at home in Fire Emblem. It allows the game to hand you super powerful items early, knowing that you can't just spam them through every challenge. Everybody who's played a classic FE game has had the dilemma of whether or not to fish for a Killer Crit or just beat a dude to death with an iron sword. Fates didn't have weapon durability, so it added downsides to a bunch of the stronger weapons, which sounded like a cool way to balance them, but it ended up making a forged iron sword the best weapon because it didn't have any of the massive penalties. Echoes also didn't have durability, but Echoes is amazing and weird and different.
Fanservice. The core concept of summing past heroes feels unnecessary and feels like just pandering, but also I'm aware that this was supposed to be a 30th anniversary game. Also Lyn is in it and I'm a hypocrite.
And that's about it. I have a few fears with how things could turn out, but otherwise I am 110% on board. I feel like I sounded a bit too harsh on Three Houses, but that's just because comparing them side by side the difference in visual polish between them is astounding. Three Houses is one of my favorite switch games after Smash and Dread, but I am blown away at the early footage of Engage.

About the Angels
I'm gonna say, this is just a fictional work of mine and has little basis on reality or my own beliefs. So please don't think I am trying to offend anyone by making this race, it's just for fun. <3
Appearance:
They all learn to manifest a humanoid appearance for themselves - because their true forms are beyond comprehension and just seem like a really bright light.
They all have very pale, almost white, hair as well as feathers for ears. The number and shape of feathers depends on age and household. Their appearances are also heavily influenced by their households.
Abilities:
As angels, they all have the ability to fly and go through dimensions and worlds. They can also enter the Heavens' domain, unlike all the other races - while alive. Their wings provide these abilities, and the number of them are also affected by how powerful the angel is.
They also naturally repel negative emotions and dark vibes. For instance, sleeping with an Angel's arms around you is a guaranteed night of either great dreams or dreamless rest. Their aura alone is enough to make the weight of the world seem a little lighter than before. Though this can be amplified or dampened based on the Angel's will and state of mind.
They heal at an incredibly fast pace but certain weapons or attacks can cause their healing magic to slow down slighty or greatly. However, although their bodies do heal - the speed being somewhat dependent on how powerful the angel is - it does drain them magically and tire them out.
Most Angels don't have offensive abilities. However, they can project shields around themselves and others for protection. These shields will last against many attacks, though again a lot of it depends on how powerful the Angel is on their own.
The Angels that do have offensive abilities are usually either stared at in awe or ignored by others due to being so rare or dangerous. Their celestial powers, given to them by God, could grow to the strength of standing up to other races.
They can eminate an aura with various abilities. Based on the Angel's will, the aura can manifest in several manners and have different effects on others. Some of these include comfort, healing, warmth and ability boosts. They can also sing, which can create similar effects, but it's a lot more specific in song form, as well as more effective.
Most of them only have goody goody and pure powers so if you were hoping for something interesting I'm sorry to dissapoint 😭
Weaknesses:
Being so rare to appear at many places and mostly incapable of offensive actions, Angels could often find themselves imprisoned and bound by other, more powerful, beings for their unique abilities.
If their wings were ripped out physically, they would lose their ability to travel freely between dimensions and places. Which is their main tactic of defense against stronger opponents. There are some teleportation spells they can use, but they won't be able to dimension travel so long as their wings have not healed.
While they can't be really "killed off", their physical forms and bodies can be destroyed. And after that happens they lose their ability to project new bodies for themselves for quite a while and have to retreat back to the Heavens' domain in their true form.
Their ears are incredibly sensitive. Loud obnoxious noises bother them greatly, and their feathery-ears will bleed if the pressure insists.
General Rules:
An Angel assigned to a person or place is to dedicate themselves fully to the task at their hands, and any form of apathy is guranteed to result in consequences. It is unlikely to happen, however, as Angels are usually excited for tasks and duties.
All Angels with combative powers are forbidden from using them to harm the innocent or the undeserving. If they do, it will cause their powers to diminish completely and for them to be banished (either for a time or indefinitely). This has never occured, but it is a rule nonetheless.
Commonly, Angels are discouraged from seeking love outside the Heavens Domain, as Humans are mortal and in the afterlife, they will not remember the Angel or their bond. And to them, Demons are thought incapable of true love. However, there are little strict rules in this regard.
Their harshest manner of punishment is known as Tears of Discipline, in which the Angel is stripped of their wings, and incapable of leaving the Heavens Domains (or in rare instances, the Human Realm) until their wings heal back.
That being said, they rarely hand out punishments, unless it's for very severe breaches of rules, and even then, a council of powerful Angels are called upon to decide whether the Angel in question must be punished or not.
No beings are allowed to visit the Heavens Domain, unless allowed to by God, and any breach of this rule will have severe consequences for all parties involved.

Chapter 3: Firsts Lead to Seconds
Lady Papilion sent a butterfly to the Eiffel Tower at the arranged time. She could sense the apprihensiveness and destruction of the Black Cat hero. Guiding her butterly to land on Chat’s baton, she felt the weak mindlink for between the two of them. “Hello, Chat Noir, I am Lady Papillion, your partner.” Chat started at the sudden voice in his head.
“Lady Papilion? What miraculous do you hold, how did you get it, and why are you able to be in my head?” Chat questioned.
“I am the weilder of the Butterfly Miraculous of Metamorphosis and Encouragement; the miraculous was put in my bag; and, the miraculous makes a mindlink for me to speak to you directly and give you power if we both agree.” She responded,”What miraculous do you hold and how did you receive it? I assume it has something to do with cats.” She decided to keep the fact that she knew so much about the miraculous a secret for now, she didnt trust him…. Yet.
“I am the wielder of the Black Cat Miraculous of Bad Luck and Destruction; the miraculous appeared on my coffeetable; and I can destroy anything with a touch.” Chat stated with the same amount of formality.
“We must discuss a plan for dealing with Paeon; maybe patrols of something like that. We will also need to speek with athoraties abou setting up an alert or something.”
“I agree, they need a way to contact us as well. For all we know it won’t always be obvious when there’s a…. what did you call it…. an amok?” at her nod, he continued. “Maybe we could talk to our kwamiis about communication devices and give the local government our numbers?”
“I could talk to Nooroo about that. What’s your kwamii’s name?”
“Plagg”
“Give me a few minutes I’ll detransform since I’m not in a public place.” Lady Papillion transformed without recalling her butterfly. She immediately gave Nooroo a flower petal.
“Thank You Miss Marinette.” Nooroo tiredly said.
“Nooroo is it possible for you to notify me of messages while detransformed?”
“Yes, I’ll know if a message is left while you’re not LP!” Nooroo chirped.
“Thank you Nooroo, let’s rest a bit. I told Chat we’ll be a few minutes.”
After a minute or two Marinette transformed to reconnect with her butterfly in Chat’s weapon.
“It is possible for us to communicate with the miraculous, our kwamii are able to notify us of any messages and relay responses even when we aren’t transformed.”
“Well, its settled then. Will you usually be contacting me from off-site?” The cat questioned.
“Yes, my miraculous is made to be used from outside the battles; therefore, I am not as wellprotected as you while transformed. I do have a place I can use as a base, though.”
“Ok. Can you recall your power so we can test our communicators effectively?” As soon as she heard his request, She called out her butterfly and released it from her service.
A few seconds later, her staff buzzed and beeped. Opening the top, she requested the message be read to her.
“One message from Chat Noir…. ‘How can I be of surrrvice, Lady Papillon.’”
“Respond to Chat Noir with, ‘Since this seems to be working, could you bring the contact information to the law enforcement?’”
“Responce sent…. New message from Chat Noir.”
“Read it please”
“‘On my way’” Smiling, she detransformed and retrieved a flower petal for Nooroo.
“Thank you!”
“No problem, lets make our way back to school though.
The rest of the day was fairly uneventful compared to the morning; and people were flocking to Ivan to hear about how he beceme a superhero.
“I don’t have any power, guys, there was this lady in my head who gave me power and guided me through the battle!” He explained for the hundredth time. He sounded exasperated.
“This so-called ‘lady’ must be rediculous if she chose you. I would have ended it the moment it began. Ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.” Chloé, it’s always Chloé. I could hear Ivan shaking in his seat.
“HOW DARE YOU!” Ivan roared, “MY LADY IS A WISE AND RESPONSABLE WOMAN AND YOU CALL HER ‘RIDICULOUS!’”
“Ivan.” I state, drawing on my calming aura. “Can you calm down? Paeon is still out there and, from what I observed, he gives strong emotions physical form.” I was too late.
Rose shreeked, “The feather! It’s back!” The blood drains from my face and I get up to leave the room. As I enter the hallway, I hear a faint “Yes, Paeon” followed by a stampede.
I ended up using a fire escape to get out of the building since no one semed to think of that. From there it was a simple affair to arrive at my greenhouse as it was somewhat out of the danger zone.
“Nooroo, did the amok take the same form?”
“Yes, it has also taken Chloé Borgeois and Mylené Harple captive.”
“Ok, Nooroo, wings rise!” The familiar warmth washed over her, leaving Lady Papillion in its wake. Feeling the rush of emotions, LP sought out Ivan once again. Bonding with a photo he had on him, she spoke, “Ivan, we meet again.”
“I am so sorry! I was just so angry at Chloé, she insulted you!”
“While I am honored you decided to defend me, Paris has changed. As much as I hate to admit it, it is no longer safe to feel negative emotions. That’s what makes Paeon so cruel.”
“I understand, My Lady.”
“Ivan, are you willing to become Ironheart once again to defeat the amok?”
“Yes, My Lady.” She smiled at his agreement and allowed her power to enter Ivan fully. Transforming him into Ironheart in a wake of lavender bubbles, she began to guide him towards the battle.
Chat Noir was already on the scene, arguing with the police.
“This isn’t a failure on our part! This is an entirely separate situation!”
“Then why is the same monster as earlier climbing the Eiffel Tower with the mayor’s daughter!”
“I don’t have all the information yet!”
“Ironheart, can you please open your palm?” I asked. When Ivan opened his palm, an image was projected into the air. Lady Papillion was siting on her throne of metal vines, her sceptre resting on her lap. One of her hands remained on the handle of the sceptre while the other was draped casually over the vines of the armrest. Around her thousands of butterflies, many different kinds, flew around her. Giving her the image of a Lady in her keep.
“What seems to be the issue, officer….”
“Raincomprix, Leutenant Raincomprix.” the leutenant seemed to be a bit intimidated by the aura of power she gave off. At a nod of her head, he continued, “As a police department, we were concerned about the resurfacing of this morning’s villain despite you two supposedly defeating him.”
“I assure you, the resurfacing of the amok has nothing to do with Chat Noir and I. The man behind the attack, Paeon, posesses an ability to physically manifest any strong emotions into beings for him to control. The victim of this morning mearly got upset enough for Paeon to exploit them again. This will most likely become a common occurrence untill we track down Paeon and strip him of his power.” The leutenant’s face fell at her words.
“We have already left our contact information with the police department,” Chat chimed in.
“We must hurry, the amok has already caused enough damage as is.”
There is a sudden rustling of feathers as the amok put it’s chest towards the sky releasing millions of feathers from inside. The feathers, moving against the wind, rose into the air taking ther form of a man in a mask.
“I am Paeon, the man who controls this sentinel.” Paeon gestures toward the amok. “I have come to rescue you from the villains Chat Noir and the Butterfly. I must retrieve their miraculous to strip them of their power. Look around you, look at all the destruction they caused.”
“Ironheart, put your palms into the air please.” When Ironheart follower her instruction, a much larger projection than earlier filled the space above him.
“Paeon, how lovely to meet you.” Lady Papillion greeted with a sickly sweet tone. “I was wondering when I would have the pleasure of your acquaintance.” She relaxed onto her throne as Paeon scowled. “I am Lady Papillion, weilder of the Butterly Miraculous of Metamorphisis and Encouragement. Chat Noir and I have not caused the damage to uor beloved city, but Paeon tore through the city using a creature formed with the hurt and rage of an innocent teen. Doesn’t that sound more like the actions of a villain?” With that Ironheart lowers his hands and lept up the tower catching the feathers in his shield. A blinding light shone from the shield and the feathers were gone.
Sensing it was time to act, Chat Noir bounded after Ironheart. The battle was short after that. A well times cataclysm and two graceful catches ended the majority of the afternoons excitement.
As soon as the heroes reached the ground, they were surrounded by the press with their questions and flashing lights. It was definitely a new experience for the three.
“Lady Papillion! Ironheart, do you plan on working together for the time being?”
“Chat Noir! What do you think of Paeon painting a picture of you as a villain?”
“Chat Noir! How long do you plan on being a superhero, and how will it effect your daily life?”
“Lady Papillion! Why dont you show your face in person?” There were so many questions and so little space that Ironheart had to send out a little shockwave to get them to back off so the small image of Lady Papillion could speak.
“Ironheart and I will each take one question.” She stated with no room for argument. “I will not appear in person as, like Paeon, my miraculous is meant for distance and leaves me more vulnerable than the average miraculous weilder.”
“I dont know if I will be selected by my Lady again, but if I am, I will gladly accept it.” Ironheart stated and then left.
“Well done, Ironheart. Remember, your protectiveness is both your strength and your weakness. Be careful.” And with that she withdrew her butterfly and released it from her service. Before she could detransform, her septre buzzed.
“One new message from Chat Noir.”
“Read it.”
“‘Purrhaps you could send one of your butterflies to Arc de Triomphe, I would like to speak with mew, winky face.’” She sighed and sent out another butterfly with a kiss.
The butterfly made its journey to the Arc de Triomphe rather quickly and promptly joined with Chat’s golden bell. “You wanted to speak with me?”
“Yes, I would like to see this base of yours so we can work together purrroperly.” Chat demanded.
“No, It would give away my identity or at least narrow it down for you. That is against what my kwamii told me.”
“Would knowing our identities not improve our teamwork, My Lady?”
“It also may hinder it Chat; so, I must say no.” she could feel his disappointment and anger rising.
“How can I trust you if I don’t know who you are?!”
“You will have to. I am goind to send a champion to heal the city. Good bye, Chat.” and she recalled the butterfly; but not before she felt his anger spike.
Feeling around, Lady Papillion searched for someone with the desire to fix everything. She sent her butterfly into a foreman’s clipboard.
“Hello, sir. I am Lady Papillion, what is your name?”
“Lady Papillion! Um…. I’m Rich Bordétte. It’s an honor to meet you My Lady.”
“Thank you Rich. I would like to offer you the ability to fix all the damage from today’s battles, even death.”
“Ok, call me…. The Worker!”
“Rich Bordétte, do you accept my offer to become The Worker”
“Yes, Lady Papillion.” The lavender bubbles covered Rich; in the same way as Ivan, the bubbles gave him a sunflower-colored hardhat, a safety vest, and a toolbelt with only a drill on it.
The Worker rose into the air and raised his dril and without ceremony pressed the button. From the tip of the drill, various butterflies and moths streamed out to the city covering everything that was damaged and anyone who was hurt or worse. As soon as the last moth landed, The Worker cried out and all the bugs rose at once flying to the sky. Below, the city looked just as it did the day before. The rubble was gone, the people were healed and all evidence of Paeon was gone.

A Friendly Massage (2) - Luke Skywalker x FemReader
part one is here!
This imagine is over 5000, this imagine is over 5000 words, this imagine is over 5000 words. i don't know why this is so long, i just wanted to write a quick little part two and its 5000 words of tension and smut and I'm not even sorry, you did this to yourselves.
warnings: SMUT was a tiny slice of oral (male receiving ) on the side, enjoy.
Day to day life carried on as it always had after your run in with Luke the other night, however you knew something had shifted.
And he certainly felt it too. Your usual good mornings and friendly waves in passing were met with stuttered, awkward greetings and a gaping lack of eye contact. It was obvious that something had to be said to resolve the growing tension between the two of you, but you'd be damed if you were the one to address the elephant in the room. Besides, it was HIS rather large, excitable elephant that had causes the issue in the first place.
So you waited, biding your time and convincing yourself that on some level this refusal to acknowledge your lust was actually just subliminal jedi training. patience is important right? that seemed to be something Yoda would approve of? abstinence? Although he probably wouldn't be proud of your solo late night escapades that were fuelled by fantasies of what the Blonde Jedi would have done to you if he had just had a smidge more confidence; how he would have looked underneath you while you rode him, unraveling with your every bounce, lips parted whispering your name repeatedly like its the only word he had ever been taught. You wondered if he even liked being ridden, or was he the more dominant of the two of you ? you doubted it, as much as he showed great strength and leadership in the training hall, Skywalker didn't give off the sexual prowess of someone who was largely well experienced, it made sense that he wouldn't be left with much time for bedding girls around you know, saving the whole entire planet from his own fathers borderline demonic regime.
Truly, though, you had never felt like he wouldn't know what he was doing. Especially after that massage he had given you, even if it was a tad brief. Like knew how to use his hands, even if one of them was mechanical. You found yourself wondering if he used them differently, if he happened to have more dexterity in one set of fingers than the other, how that would feel if those fingers where being put to use inside of your tight -
“Y/N? have you been listening to a word I've just said”
Youre whipped out of your thoughts by an all too familiar voice as you vainly attempt to stop your cheeks from turning pink in front of your fellow Padwan’s. You stumble to find you words while simultaneously praying Luke hasn't decided to use his weird mind reading ability in the last 10 minutes of your brain wander or so.
“Sorry sir” is all you can offer, as you truly have not the faintest of ideas of what he was just talking about. You don't miss the way luke stiffens when you use the term of authority toward him, a trick you normally would not exploit however unluckily for him, he caught you completely of guard. He lets out an exaggerated sigh before he returns to pacing,
“You can all return to your activities” He dismisses you all, and you scurry to the door with the others before he adds,
“not you, Y\N”
ah shit.
He waits until everyone has exited and the door has shut behind then before he turns to you,
“Whats up with you lately?” his teaching voice is gone, he's back to exasperated friend luke,
You chortle on a gasp of air as you shoot him an accusatory look, taking a few steps closer to him with your finger outstretched like a weapon,
“whats up with ‘me’?” you mock, showing your finger towards yourself, before dramatically turning it back on him, moving even closer.
“What the fuck is up with you Luke? your the one who's being weird with me, don't pull some uno reverse card on the last few days”
You can see the lost puppy dog look in his eyes, as he tries to scramble together some sort of reply,
“and don't fucking lie to me” you add, closing the space between you so that you're now jabbing him in the chest with your pointer finger.
“i er, .. i don't know what you're talking about Y/N” god, even the way he says your name is hot, you feel feat rising again in areas it shouldn't but you push it away, your pride not wanting him to get the best of you even if your body would quite happily will it.
“Liar” you spit at him with such venom it surprises even yourself, accompanied with another jab to the chest, this one maybe a little harder than the ones before.
“ouch” he mumbles, trapping the accusing finger in one palm and rubbing his chest with the other, the dramatics causing you to roll your eyes.
“Hey, don't do that!” he fires back, you can tell he's trying to sound stern but its not really all to effect when he's still rubbing out the pain from your finger jab.
“do what?”
“roll your eyes at me! I'm your senior” he puffs his chest, but his eyes still are full of surprise at your sudden outburst.
“really? are you now luke?” you push him, his hand still wrapped around yours, sending sparks through you arm.
“yes, i am” His voice is breathy, his breath splaying down onto your face as he speaks. You suddenly realise just how close you have managed to get to him, previously too lost in the moment. Your body is all but pressed against his, head tilted down ever so slightly so that he can be on the same eye level as you. There isn't much difference in your height, but right now he feels like he's towering over you.
Its rare that you see this side of Luke, normally so soft and docile towards you. The tension of this argument and sheer stress that has been building inside of him since your incident is starting to bubble over the surface as he's trapped so close to you now. You can tell he's surveying you, begging you to make the next move though fear he will say something he might regret.
But maybe that is what you want from him, after all the last happy accident between the two of you has been the image you have gotten off to for the last four nights.
“prove it then”
“prove what?” Luke looks confused, suddenly drawing back a little like he'd completely lost the trail of your conversation, head tilted to the side like a bewildered golden retriever,
“prove that you're my senior” you whisper back, almost not wanting him to hear it. You can tell by the way his light sapphire eyes gaze over he does though, as he watches you pull away and leave the training room, door slamming behind you.
You slip past two bodies as you rush back to your dorm, your confidence leaking and the implications of what you just challenged beginning to set in. Hans and Leia both follow their gaze after you, the two having witnessed the end portion of yours and Lukes confirmation through the viewing window while waiting for the princess’s twin to finish for lunch. Leia turned to Hans, eyes narrowed,
“you don't think they might actually….” she trails off,
“bang? oh definitely” Hans answers, still looking at the shaken remnants of Luke Skywalker, who liked like he may have lost all brain function capacity.
It had been ten hours and forty five minutes since you'd left look in your dust in the training room, not that anyone was counting. And you had concluded two facts while on your bed in that time;
Luke clearly didn't feel the same way you felt for him; you had left him with basically an invitation to come and take you and he was a no show.
to avoid facing the death by embarrassment you would inevitably suffer you will be spending the remainder of your sorry life inside the confines of this very dorm. it seemed the adult thing to do.
You muffled a yawn, the sun had long past retired, and from your place on your bed you could just make out the two moons and multiple consolations now decorating the dark blue night.
Lifting your arms above you head in a stretch, you caught a whiff of sweat and instantly sighed; as much as you had been willing to enjoy never moving from you bed until either starvation or dehydration took you out of your misery, you did happen to stink like garbage.
You scuffled off the bed and out of your cloak and training pants, that had been left on from hours ago, making a mental note that at least you'd wouldn't have to worry about washing them if you never saw look again. You shimmied out of you knickers and unhooked your bra, throwing them onto the floor to join the rest of your discarded outfit before wandering over to your bathroom and turning on the shower, untangling your hair the best you can while the water warms.
When you finally stepped under the water you let out a hiss at the feeling of the heat against your skin, basking in the feeling of droplets on your now bare body. You let your hand roam, starting at your chest and finding a path down past your belly button and hips, your skin trembling as your hand drifted over the area between your thighs.
You let out another hiss, your fingers finding their way between your folds, teasing yourself. You enjoyed the tension loss for all but a moment before flashes of luke pressed against you in the training room earlier flew back into your brain; how hot his skin had been against yours and how his scent had been so strong in his sweat after the hours of sparring multiple Padawan’s. You moaned, half in frustration with yourself for ruining your moment and the other half in want.
He's even spoiling your shower time now, what a dick.
You snatched your soap bar from the shelf and scrubbed viciously, not allowing yourself the enjoyment of a relaxing shower due to your own self betrayal. You ran some through your locks, cursing whichever part of your brain was telling the rest that this would feel a million times better if it was the Jedis hands in place of your own.
Once you had finished mentally punishing yourself, you turned off the water and stood there for a minute contemplating the likelyhood of a bang to the head removing your memory of todays events.
After all, it would be so simple, a little slip in the shower and poof! Sure, Luke would remember it all, but would he really have the guts to say anything to you about it? surely he wouldn't want to risk your recovery from a very accidental definitely not self inflicted head injury now would he? However, if your preexisting luck was anything to go off, you'd probably forget everything but the sexual tension you had for your master.
Cowardly, you stepped out safely, making sure not to fall, and wrap yourself in a soft towel, leaving your hair to drip down onto your shoulders. You step out of your bathroom, not noticing the shadow that had formed in the corner of your room until they cleared their throat, causing you to just back in sheer terror, going over on your ankle and nearly dropping your towel all together.
“Sorry i er..”
“Luke? what the Fuck are you doing” You gasp out, staring blindly into the darkness as the shape shuffles on their feet awkwardly,
Luke moves closer, the small amount of light left from outside casting across his soft face and mop of hair.
“I didn't mean to scare you” is all he can offer,
“And what part of you hiding in my room while i showered would not come across as scary?” You shot back, more dazed than angry. You knew what him being here meant, but him hiding in the most light depraved corner of your room while you tried not to masturbate to images in your head of him in your shower was never part of the fantasy.
“i didn't realise you'd be showering this late” He replied, as if that answered the question as to why he was hiding in your room so late at night at all.
You strained your eyes trying to peer at him, and he seemed to notice, taking another few steps forward into the moonlight. Maker did he look good, under the stars his skin glowed and his hair caught copper and silver highlights that made your knees weak. His soft features were taunt and there was mischief in his eyes, a familiar sight but in the situation at present it made heat grow in your lower stomach.
Something told you he could see it in your face too, whatever he was looking for, because he kept on moving in on you, like a predator after their pray, You weren't used to seeing Luke all wound up like this, the only other time being the last time he was in your room, but the situation was different this time. There was an open air of lust and anticipation flowing around the two of you, you could only compare it to what the force had felt like the few times you'd managed to master it. It was like something spiritual was drawing you two closer, your body was working on autopilot, moving without your conscious command. He had closed the gap between you by now, but he didn't make a move to touch you or even say any more than he already had, simply staring down at you. When you realised he really wasn't going to be the one to break the silence, you stepped up to the mark for him,
“Why are you here Luke” It wasn't really a question, you knew what you had said to him earlier, the words that you had been replaying over and over in your head ever since.
“Because..” He trailed off, as if he was trying to find the right way of wording his thoughts, you took this as a chance to push him a little further, no matter how nervous you both were right now, you knew him well enough over the last year to learn how to fire him up, and right now a pent up Luke was exactly what you wanted. You knew you were playing with fire, but you doubted if he did react, it would be in a way you wouldn't enjoy. Quite frankly, the boy could pick you up and throw you out of your own bedroom window right now and you'd still probably be horny enough to find some form of sexual gratification from the experience
You saw his brow raise and his eyes flash before you heard his word,
“To show you what i want from you, Padawan” He smirked around the term, causing you to let out a small, nervous laugh.
“And what is it that you want from me, Master?” You hardly finish the word before his arms have snaked around your back and you're being lifted from the ground, letting out a squeal of surprise, your legs wrapping around his waist for support. He plopped you down on the bed, still situated between your legs, pulling a hand out on either side of your shoulders so that he could stare down at you.
“Thats not an answer luke” you quipped back, quite impressed at your ability to still functionally produce coherent words. He leaned down, his lips on your ear,
“oh, i think it is, Y/N” he breathed, letting out a boyish laugh before he could stop himself, almost giving you the chance to shoot another sarcastic comment his way, but as his lips touch the skin below your ear and start to plant wet hungry kisses there, the words dissolve into a soft moan.
His head shoots up and you see the look of concern in his eyes, confirming that maybe Luke isn't the most sexually experienced person on this planet. The sweetness in his reaction makes you weak, but you have lost the ability to reply with words, so you communicate through grabbing either side of his soft face and planting a hungry kiss on his lips.
For a moment you catch him off guard, frozen under you lips, and you worry that maybe you have somehow misread this situation entirely. Maybe he was just fooling around with you, maybe he wants serious?
But all that concern is dissipated by his lips finding rhythm against yours, equally as passionately. Okay, so maybe he isn't the best at reading you tell tale lust signs, but oh maker can he kiss. The movement of his lips alone is enough to cause severer wetness to pool between your thighs, your spin raising off the bed as far as it can to push your body against his clothed one. You're amazed your towel has lasted this long, especially after the near miss before, but now you find yourself wishing it hadn’t. Conscious of Luke being as respectful as it is, you also know that if you wait for him to remove it you may have melted away before he sees you; so you move a hand from his face to the tie at the top of your chest and pull it open, the towel cascading around you and leaving your front bare.
You had a feeling that Luke was a little too caught up in the moment to realise, so you gently slid you hand around one of his, waiting until he shifted his weight onto his other arm before you lowered it to you chest, letting it cup your breast. Lukes eyes shot open as he let out a gasp, lips opening just enough for you to tease your tongue against his bottom lip. His hand moved instinctively to squeeze, his thumb brushing gently over your already erect nipple. You shivered and moaned in response, but this time Luke knew this meant he was doing something right, so he repeated his actions.
You had to give it to him, he was a fast learner.
Your hand moved in an attempt to untie his cloak, but the action was proving difficult while Lukes mouth was on yours and his hand roaming your body, causing you to become inpatient.
“Take it off” You managed to get out between kisses,
You expected him to challenge your direct order, but he merely sat up and untied the cloak, slipping it from himself and removing his undershirt too. You watched as the moonlight danced upon his skin, his toned chest, years of Jedi training had certainly served his body well. This wasn't the first time you'd seen Luke topless, but it was the first time you hadn't had to hide the fact that you were really looking. Realising how long you had been staring you met his eyes again, half expected to see him smirking down at you, but he was just as lost in your body as you were his;
“You - You're Beautiful” He stumbled under his breath, you weren't sure if you were even supposed to hear it, but it made your cheeks burn either way. Before he could say anything else, you lifted your back up from the bed and pushed your body flush against his, planting kisses on his neck, eliciting a moan from the Jedi in response. You left little purple marks peppered in the wake of you lips, something you knew he may not be too pleased about in the morning, but you figured you might as well get away with as much claiming of him you could in the heat of the moment. He quivered underneath you, from this angle you could feel his ever-growing, now comically familiar, budge, his body naturally thrusting into yours, causing a beautiful friction against your heat. Luke was lost in the pleasure, and has seemingly temporarily forgotten he had hands, so you grabbed ahold of on and pushed it down to the bottom of your stomach, lifting your core from his so he could access it. Luke met your eyes again, this time you could tell him was clueless, his cheeks glowing a deep scarlet.
“I erm” You didn't let him finish, you'd figured Luke was a little inexperienced but not to this level. The massive reverse in roles made you feel a little powerful; suddenly you were the experienced one and he was your understudy. Maybe he should be calling you master? You made a mental note to remember that fact for tomorrow when the joke might go down better than in the middle of sex,
“Just rub around here” you told him, while guiding his hand to your bundle of nerves, making sure to show him the correct pressure you wanted, and then your lips were back on his.
Luke was slow at first, and it took him a while to actually bring his fingertips between your folds, however once he did he seemed to find the exact spot you wanted him in. Whether it the pressure of his cool finger tips or the fact that he had been unintentionally teasing the area so long, you released a borderline animalistic high pitched moan, lurching forward and wrapping your arms around his neck. You felt him chuckle against your neck, repeating his action and causing you to squeal again,
“well then” He murmured into your ear, a cheeky air to his voice, causing you to groan knowingly - you'd certainly be mocked for that vicious reaction afterwards.
You wanted to smack the smirk from his lips, but instead you lowered one of you hands between your bodies, resting it on Lukes now fully erect but concealed member. He paused momentarily, before letting out his own moan as you started to palm him through his loose trousers. There was dampness under your hand, a mix of your slick heat and his own leaking member, but it only spurred you on more.
Lukes actions had become increasingly sloppy, his hand slipping lower and lower until one of his digits unintentionally bumped against your opening, causing you to jump in his arm and whine against his ear. Luke took this as a sign to dip the tip of the finger into you, testing to make sure this wasn't the wrong move, when you hum in response he slips the rest in up to his knuckle. The action makes you tremble, and you're panting and whispering jibberish into his ear. He removes the finger and then puts in back in slowly, still unsure. Its torture, literal torture. You start moving your lower body against his hand, riding it. You're not sure what makes him do it, maybe just a reflex, but luke bends his finger ever so slightly just at the right point of entrance and hits your inner sweet spot, causing your tummy to do a flip and move wetness to peek from your core. His other hand finds your clit again, without you having to instruct him this time, and the mix of both actions causes your eyes to roll back into your head and you to let out a quieter but still prominent squeal. Luke laughs again,
“Calm down little one” He teases, confidence dripping from his ever word.
Maybe its the temptation to remove his smugness again, or maybe you're just turned on so much by this cocky side of Skywalker you've previously not seen enough of, but you instantly reach your hand under his waistband and inside his boxers, finding his length and stroking it directly with your hand.
He instantly spasms under you, almost bucking you off him, and you thank god you're near enough to your headboard to catch yourself before he does.
“sorry” he mumbles, steadying you with one hand, his other still inside your heat.
“Shhh, its okay” you reassure him, before gently removing his hand from your heat and pushing him back a bit, causing him to look at you with confusion.
“I just want to see it properly” You tell him, working on his waistband again.
“You already have” he groans, clearly getting some secondhand embarrassment from his previous accidental boner experience, but lowering his pants and boxers none the less, his manhood springing out.
he hisses slightly as it meets the cool air of the room, his head rolling back ever so slightly - and you don't think you've ever seen a sight so sinful and glorious in your life.
You lower your head down towards it but he catches your forehead against his palm before you can meet your goal,
“erm? excuse me”
“youre excused ?” you reply, looking up at him from your position almost at his manhood,
“what are you doing?”
“Oh luke i think you know fine well” You dip your tongue out between your lips, and it just reaches the very tip of his head, catching a little of what he's leaked there. Luke lets out a throaty moan in response, and you take advantage of his distraction, moving out from under his hand and licking his full length, from the base to the very tip. The sounds Luke makes in response are enough to almost make you tip over your own edge, but you try to suppress your own want long enough to put him all in your mouth and do a slow bob. He bucks into your mouth, unintentionally hitting the back of your throat and causing you to almost gag, the process causing him to mutter profanities that you never thought you would hear from the golden boy of the rebellion.
You only get in a few slow bobs before his hand returns to your head, but this time he doesn't push you away, so you continue to move your mouth around his length which his fingers get lost in your hair. You cant fit all of him in your mouth comfortably, and your mind starts to wonder to what is inevitably the next step, your heat reminding you of just how much you want him down there, fucking you senseless into your own bed while the rest of the ship sleeps (hopefully) unaware of your actions.
Suddenly Luke is tugging your hair, pulling you up from him so that he slips out of your mouth with an audible plop. You take a chance to actually look at him, surprised at just how unravelled he looks, sweat causing his locks to stick to his forehead in erratic patterns, his eyes the darkest shade of blue you've ever seen.
“whats wrong?” You ask him, your voice a little more course than you expected,
“ Im going to come” He tells you truthfully, embarrassment visible on his face. You want to giggle at his innocent response, but you also don't want him to feel even worse than he clearly does, so you suppress it and keep your eyes on his,
“Well come then “ you answer obliviously, still not truly understanding the route of his embarrassment. Sure, this wasn't exactly the worlds longest performance, but you'd seen much worse from people with much more experience - and at least Luke had actually managed to get you wet.
I want to but “ He stopped, turning away in frustration and drifting off at the very last minute, you waited for him to finish, reaching for his hand and rubbing your thumb against it, attempting to reassure him enough to let you continue.
“I want to fuck you” The way he says the words, like he knows he shouldn’t, makes it the most sinful line you've ever heard from anyone. You feel like he's just hit you with a sledgehammer, your core pulsing in response.
He still wont look at you, so you simply lean back into your bed, opening your legs, all prior shyness being pushed to the back of your mind by the raging lust that his words had fuelled.
“Fuck me then” You instruct him, and oh boy, he does.
head whipping around, Luke crawls back over you, eyes burning holes into yours as he meets your face, you bend your knees and grab his member with your hand, making sure to run it along your slit, gathering your wetness in its wake, before placing the tip at its rightful home, against your opening. Luke looks like he might burst, but you place a gentle kiss on his lips before guiding your body up to meet him, his tip entering you and stretching you out. You gasp at the feeling, Luke taking this as his cue to slow insert the rest of himself, filling you fully and causing you to clench around him on impact. Both of you are moaning now, maybe a little louder than appropriate for such a communal ship, but neither of you could find it in yourselves to care at this moment in time.
Luke was big, for sure. You remembered back to just before and internally cursed yourself for not making sure he used more than one finger one you; you were definitely no virgin but it had been a while since you'd been with anyone, and nobody had ever come near the size you were dealing with now. As luke started moving, the sensation of slight discomfort faded, and you were being overrides with a new force. You could feel every inch of him inside you, and partnered with his breathy moans of your name and his increasingly wild expressions, you could feel the coil of lust inside you beginning to build again. Maker, this was so good - surely things this good shouldn't be allowed for sinners like you.
Lukes movements got sloppy all to fast, you could tell he was fighting his high as long as possible
You were overpowered with the need to give him release, slipping one hand into his hair and the other to his cheek,
“Come for me, master” Your words caused his eyes to flash open, and his whole body to convulse, he didn't take much telling; you felt warmth leak into you as Luke let out a final throaty moan and his head flopped into your chest.
You lay there for a while, stroking the stray locks of hair from his face as both your breathing returned to a somewhat normal level, him still inside you as you started to leak out over the covers. You'd probably be bothered about that tomorrow, like the clothes unwashed on the floor and the sound complaints from the people either side of your dorm. But for now, nothing could bother you.
As you both drifted off into a peaceful sleep, Luke felt for the first time in years that nothing outside of this ship was worth any of his mind, he had all he needed here in this bed with you.

Loki's Daughter
TITLE: Loki’s Daughter CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 13: The Grimoire of Curses AUTHOR: traveling_classicist ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Avengers: Endgame AU Loki that gets away with tesseract has been using it to explore the universe. During his adventures, he comes across a little girl with developing but oppressed magical abilities. Intrigued (and subconsciously lonely) Loki keeps her around. RATING: T
AO3 Link: Here NOTES/WARNINGS: None for this chapter. Enjoy!
————————————————————-
Loki had scoured over his new collection of books on curses. He was becoming increasingly frustrated with each discourse he picked up; more frustrated and more discouraged. Kuna, on the other hand, enjoyed her new freedoms. The freedom to explore where she wanted, eat when she wanted, sleep when she wanted.
She could even play, something she had always really wanted to do but was always forbidden from doing. The strangest part of all: she didn’t have to work. Ever. In fact, Loki actively stopped her from cleaning, tidying, cooking, or any other attempts at non-child-like behavior, and promptly pushed her outside to play.
Loki had even begun to teach her how to read and write. He had spread out a large piece of paper in front of her and taught her how to hold a quill and dip it in ink and write out the Asgardian futhark. She had never been so excited in her whole life. She memorized the whole futhark in just a few minutes. She learned how to write hers and Loki’s names and the names of her toys. Loki was a good teacher. Kuna was convinced he knew everything there was to know.
Now, she was able to write whole sentences and read short stories in their storybooks. Loki even made up stories for her to read which were her favorite.
One day, Loki sat in their hammock grumbling at another book, while Kuna swatted at an imaginary beast with a stick. She had learned to be quiet when Loki was reading because he wanted to concentrate on his books, so she kept her stories about slaying imaginary beasts inside her head.
“Arrgh, I’ve had enough of this!” Loki slammed the book closed.
Kuna jumped, dropping her stick. Her shoulders drooped and her head hung low. She looked up cautiously, afraid she had caused his angry outburst.
“Sorry. I shouldn’t yell like that. What do you want to do today, Kuna?” he asked.
“Me?” she asked, shyly.
“Yes, you,” he said. “I can’t take any more of these bloody books today. So, what do you want to do?”
Kuna had never been asked this question before, so it required much thought. She walked over to the hammock and crawled into it beside Loki. She tapped her finger against her lips in thought.
“Mmm. Will you teach me how to fight monsters?” she asked finally.
“How to fight monsters,” Loki repeated.
Kuna nodded, excitedly.
“That’s very specific.”
Kuna continued nodding.
“All right, come on!” Loki jumped out of the hammock. It flipped over, depositing Kuna on the ground. She hopped up, undisturbed, and ran for their satchel with the silver dagger.
Loki snatched it up. “Nope!” He stopped her at arm’s length with a hand on her head.
She giggled, trying to reach for the satchel.
“You’re going to learn with this.” He gave her the wooden dagger he had bought for her on Tenanci’i.
“Aww,” Kuna pouted.
“Stand up straight!” Loki commanded.
Kuna stood as tall as she could. Loki adjusted her feet until she stood about shoulder width. He positioned her left hand on the hilt of the dagger.
“When your other hand, your off hand, is empty, it’s going to balance you,” he said. “Don’t let it fall to your side like a dead fish.” Kuna chuckled at this. “Keep it up and always moving. You can use it to punch with, like this,” -he showed her a quick jab- “or to block.”
Kuna copied his movements. He began to call out actions for her to do, holding the dagger in a downward position in her left hand. When she was able to do this on command, Loki began teaching her movements with the dagger.
“It’s not all about stabbing, even though that’s pretty fun,” Loki said.
Kuna giggled, pretending to stab him.
He laughed and gently took her wrist, positioning the dagger in different ways. “You can slice and cut, forward and back, up and down, hack, and even stab with a dagger,” he explained, moving Kuna’s hand with each word. “They’re very multifunctional weapons. You can even throw it if you’re in a pinch.”
“But then I wouldn’t have a dagger anymore.”
“Very clever,” Loki said. “It should never be your first move if this is your only weapon. And there are better weapons for throwing anyways. Only throw this if it’s your last resort and you know you’ve got a clean shot. Otherwise, you’ll be in trouble.”
“Hmm.” Kuna weighed the wooden dagger in her hand. She turned it over and made a swipe at the air.
“Good,” Loki said. “Now, faster. Put more power behind it.”
She made the same movement again, swinging harder. “Don’t lose control,” Loki instructed. He readjusted her stance, and she struck the air again. “Better.”
They continued with different moves and attacks until Kuna was out of breath.
“Take a break,” Loki said, giving her one of their canteens. He smiled at her. “You learn quickly. I don’t even think I picked up a weapon this fast.”
Kuna could barely contain her happiness. She took the canteen and drank. The cold water felt good. She laid back in the grass under the trees.
“Do you think I could fight as good as you someday?” Kuna asked.
“Let’s find out,” Loki said. “Come and get me.”
A wooden knife, like a giant splinter, dug into the ground to the right of Kuna’s head. She gasped and rolled to the side, grabbing her own dagger. She came up on one knee and looked for Loki.
“That was impressive,” he said. Kuna ran towards his voice. He rose up out of a bush. She jumped up and slashed at him, but he disappeared.
“Hey!” she cried as she crashed through the bush. “You can’t use magic!”
“Why not?” his voice came from behind her.
“That’s cheating!”
“There’s no cheating in a fight, little raven,” he said, laughing as she bounded through another illusion. “You have to use what you’ve got. And I have magic.”
Kuna fell through another Loki. She stood and looked around. Something hard hit her in the back of the head.
“Ouch!” She looked down at an acorn rolling at her foot and frowned.
“And I have acorns,” Loki taunted. “What have you got?”
Kuna looked at her dagger. It wasn’t really helping her if all the Lokis were ghosts. Another acorn whistled towards her, this one from her right. She swung the dagger and blocked it with a satisfying thwack. A smile spread across her face.
“Don’t celebrate too long,” Loki chuckled from behind her. “Or you’ll be dead.”
She whipped around and dodged Loki’s arm as it came down to hit her. She stabbed at his leg, and he disappeared just as she had expected him too. With this Loki gone, she ran to the bushes to her left and pounced into them. She came down on an empty patch of dirt and twigs.
“Too slow!” Loki sang.
Kuna growled. She ran to the nearest tree and climbed up into the branches.
“Now, we’re using our brain. I was beginning to think you forgot it was there,” Loki taunted her.
She followed the sound of his voice and jumped through the trees towards it. An acorn smacked the back of her head. She turned to find the Loki that threw it and saw two Lokis, one in the tree and the other on the ground.
“Now, concentrate,” they both said. “Which one is me?”
Jumping towards the one in the tree, she made a quick jab at him, which he easily avoided. He gave her a good shove, sending her forward off the branch. She stretched out her arm and grabbed a lower branch, swinging to the ground. She felt a thump on the ground behind her and turned, slashing wildly with her dagger at the Loki that had dropped from the tree, but he disappeared.
Another appeared behind her, then another and another until there was a circle of Lokis surrounding her. She turned in a circle, trying to figure out which one was the real one. They each smiled at her devilishly.
Then a blue glow began to radiate from one of the Lokis to her left. A soft, lilting melody drifted on the air. She turned and leapt onto the glowing Loki, slashing at him. She crawled up his body and onto his back like a monkey.
“Ahh!” he screamed. The other Lokis vanished. She had caught the real one.
She raised her hand to stab him, but he caught her wrist and pulled her off his back.
“Aww,” she whined.
“So close, little one. Very impressive but I’ve been doing this a lot longer than yo-AHHH! DID YOU JUST BITE ME?!” He let go and she dropped onto her feet, giggling. She skipped up to him and stabbed him in the tummy with her dagger.
“Stab! I win!”
“Agh! I’m dead!” Loki yelled. He fell backwards dramatically. “Blah!” He stuck out his tongue and closed his eyes and made his body go limp.
Kuna walked over and put a foot up on his chest, raising her dagger to the sky. “I’ve defeated the mighty Loki!”
“Surprise!” Loki grabbed her around the waist and pulled her down. She squealed.
“No fair! You can’t come back to life!”
“Oh, but that’s sort of my thing, love,” he said. “I can’t believe you bit me. Come here! Let me see those teeth!”
“Grrrrrr!” She growled at him, baring her teeth.
“Do you have fangs?!”
“Raaawr!” She opened her mouth wide enough for Loki to see a row of sharp teeth, like a big cat’s, running back into her mouth.
“You have got fangs!” Rolling up his sleeve, he examined his wound. “Do you have venom in those? Am I going to turn into a Kuna, now? How have I never seen those chompers you’ve got in there?”
Kuna smiled big. Only one set of her sharp fangs was visible in her smile, the rest were hidden. She growled at him again and snapped her teeth, not able to control her giggles.
“Yeah, all right. You’re very ferocious,” he said. “But no more biting! Not me at least. Bite anyone else.”
“But you said I should use what I’ve got.”
“I did say that.”
“So, I could bite in a fight?”
“Yes, it’s rather effective actually,” Loki said, rubbing his arm. He picked up the canteen that was laying on the ground and took a drink. “How did you know which Loki was me?”
“The tesseract told me,” Kuna said, flipping her dagger in the air.
Loki spit out his water. “The what?!”
“The tesseract! I concentrated on trying to find you like you said, and the tesseract told me which one you were.”
“How did it do that?” Loki asked, a serious tone in his voice.
“Y…You were glowing, and I could hear the tesseract singing so I… I knew it was you.”
Loki sat in silence for a moment, thinking. Kuna pulled her legs up to her chest.
“Did I do something wrong?” she asked.
“No, you didn’t,” Loki said.
“Are you mad?”
“No. You did exactly what I would have done. I’m just concerned with how the tesseract is affecting you.”
“Why?”
“It affects people differently. Sometimes in strange ways. I’ve not known it to ‘sing’ to anyone before.”
“I like the way it sings.”
“What does it sound like?”
“Like, um, hmm…” Kuna wasn’t sure she could make the same sounds as the tesseract did. She tried to hum like it but the noise she made was not at all like the tesseract’s pretty sounds. “That’s not right. I can’t do it like the tesseract does.” She shrugged.
“Hmm. Well, I don’t hear anything.”
“Maybe your ears are clogged.”
“That’s probably it,” Loki said, chuckling.
She nodded and tried to flip the dagger in her hand again. The wooden blade smacked her hand and fell to the ground. She frowned at it. Loki picked it up.
“If that had been real, you would have lost fingers,” he said. “Watch carefully.” He flipped the dagger in the air and caught it effortlessly. “It’s all in the wrist.”
He smoothly turned the dagger over and offered the hilt to Kuna to try. She took it. She timed a toss of the dagger and it flipped gracefully, catching it by the handle this time. She smiled and looked up at Loki.
“Well done,” he said. “Just wait until you can do it with two at the same time.”
“Ooooh,” Kuna breathed.
Loki conjured two daggers and showed her a smooth double dagger flip. The glint of the daggers shown over Kuna’s face. She was overjoyed. She could not wait to start training with two daggers. She wanted to be just like Loki.
“I wanna try!” she said.
“I don’t think you’re ready for these yet,” Loki responded. “Weapons like these need to be treated with respect. They’re sharp and they’ll easily cut off those fingers of yours or more if you’re not careful.”
Kuna frowned.
“You’ll get there, little raven,” Loki said, tussling her hair. “Come on, let’s go inside and get something to eat.”
At the thought of food, Kuna happily bounded past Loki and jumped through the door. Loki had finally figured out a way to keep the door open, so he did not have to awkwardly squish through the awful honey-like material. Kuna bounced around the tent, gracefully avoiding the stacks of books Loki had left everywhere. She parried and jabbed with her dagger at invisible enemies.
Loki made her a sandwich from their supplies as she played. He frowned at the basket that kept their food. It was getting dangerously close to being empty. They would need to teleport somewhere to get more supplies soon, but there was enough for them to eat for the rest of the day.
He handed Kuna the sandwich as she hopped by. She barely stopped as she began stuffing bites of it into her mouth.
“No, no. Come, settle down,” Loki scolded. “You’ll upset your stomach, jumping around and eating like that.”
“Hmm,” Kuna mumbled and plopped down across from Loki. She held her sandwich in two hands and took big bites.
Loki frowned at her. “Do you even taste your food?”
“Mmm-hmm!” she nodded, cheeks bulging with sandwich. “It tastes so good!”
“Fair enough,” he said, taking a dainty bite of his own sandwich. He picked up a book and opened it setting it on one leg while he ate.
Kuna watched him. She sat up straighter and crossed her legs. She remade her sandwich, which had fallen apart in her eagerness to eat. Sitting up tall, like Loki, she took a small bite of her sandwich and chewed slowly. Loki turned a page and took another bite of his sandwich and Kuna did the same.
Loki caught on quickly to this game of pantomime. Without looking up from his book, he raised his sandwich to his mouth, Kuna following his movements. Before taking a bite, he lowered his hand and turned another page. He could see Kuna frown at being denied a bite but lowering her sandwich into her lap as well.
He lifted the sandwich again to his mouth and then looked across at Kuna. She stopped cold as if caught doing something bad. Loki lowered the sandwich, keeping eye contact. Kuna copied him. He quickly jolted the sandwich back up towards his mouth and Kuna did the same. His eyes narrowed. Then he smiled.
In a quick movement, he tossed the sandwich over his shoulder. Kuna gasped. Loki raised his eyebrows at her, daring her to copy him. She shook her head and shoved the rest of the sandwich in her mouth. He rolled his eyes and laughed.
“I don’t waste food,” Kuna said, mouth full.
“That’s very good,” he replied, revealing his own sandwich that he had hidden in a quick invisibility spell. “Neither do I.”
Kuna’s mouth fell open, chewed food showing on her tongue.
“Eww, gross, Kuna! Swallow that!” Loki laughed.
Kuna giggled and swallowed her food.
“Speaking of, we’re starting to run low on food,” Loki said, his tone changing.
Kuna glanced around nervously.
“It’s fine,” Loki consoled her, seeing her anxiety. “I mean to say, we’ll need to go shopping for more. I’m not going to let you go hungry.”
This comforted Kuna. “Where will we go?”
“I’m not sure yet. But I think we’ll need to pack up camp and move entirely. I don’t want to stay here for much longer.”
“Oh, but I like it here.”
“It is very peaceful here, isn’t it?”
Kuna nodded.
“But I think we’d get bored if we stayed here forever.”
Kuna cocked her head to one side, confused.
“Well, it’s nice, sure. But there’s no one else here but us. No creatures, no people. No excitement. I think we’d get bored.”
“Hmm.” Kuna thought about this. The excitement she had had with Loki regarding creatures and people so far had been mostly scary and life-threatening. “No, I like it here. I wouldn’t get bored.”
“I bet you would.”
“Nuh-uh.”
“You mean to tell me you don’t want to see all the beautiful planets out there in the universe? All the systems and stars and galaxies?”
Kuna thought even harder. All the beautiful things the tesseract had shown her had captivated her mind and visited her dreams for nights. She wanted to see them all.
“Is it safe?”
“Oh, absolutely not,” Loki said. Kuna paled. “But you have me with you and I’ll keep you safe.”
She relaxed a little.
“And now that you’re learning to fight, you can defend yourself, too.”
Kuna nodded, thinking about their lesson and her dagger.
“So, what do you think?”
“I guess so. As long as we’re together.”
“Always,” Loki said, smiling at her.
They spent the rest of the day relaxing. Loki attending to his research and Kuna studying her letters. As the day wound down, Kuna had her supper and fell asleep on her bedroll, cuddling her toys. Loki, surrounded by stacks of books, lit a small, dim orb of light with his magic so he could continue reading without disturbing Kuna.
He looked across the several stacks of books around him. He had taken hundreds. When they were in Odin’s study, he had seen how difficult it was for Kuna to catch all the books he was tossing to her in his raven form, so he had begun storing them himself, whisking away entire shelves of books into his pocket universe in some cases. As long as they were in the sections about curses, he could figure out if they were of use later.
Loki reached for a new book but bumped another stack with his elbow. It fell over, scattering across the floor. He grit his teeth at the sound and peeked at Kuna. She turned over and squeezed her dragon. Loki let out a sigh of relief and then groaned at the mess on the floor. He started to pick up a few books, when a large black volume caught his eye. It was quite old, embossed with ancient Asgardian runes that had been rubbed nearly clean of their golden sheen. However, what caught his eye was not the antiquated runes of a long dead language but deep cuts in the leather of the cover in the modern Asgardian runes.
BEWARE
DO NOT OPEN
EVIL RESIDES
“Well, that’s a little dramatic,” Loki said.
He picked up the ancient tome and sat back slowly onto the floor, crossing his legs. As he held it, he could feel a dark resonance emanating through his aura. He looked closely at the book and found it was not black leather at all, but that the book had been heavily burned. The ends of the pages too had been blackened in the flames. At some point, someone had tried to remove some of the charring on the cover, but the book would have been a total loss by any library’s standards.
“Seems like someone tried to burn you,” Loki muttered. He turned the book back over to the eerie message carved into the front. “And you clearly resisted.”
The graffitist had tried to destroy the embossed title of the book, but the restorer had succeeded in revealing what was left of the title.
G—M—IRE –F C—ES by ——————- ———————–
“A “Grimoire of Curses”, you say? You sound perfect. I’m gonna open it,” he said, deviously. He could almost hear his father admonishing him for not heeding the rather specific warning on the cover. “I don’t negotiate with book defacers. Or book burners.”
He gently opened the cover, and the title page confirmed his guesswork.
GRIMOIRE OF CURSES
BY
THE QUEEN OF DEATH
“’The Queen of Death’,” Loki read. “How delightful.”
He chuckled at the author’s absurd name and then flipped to the next page.
It felt suddenly as if a lump had caught in his throat. He swallowed hard. The more Loki read, the heavier his chest began to feel. The resonance he had felt in his magic before began to grow. The air felt thick with each breath he took. It felt as if a whirlpool had started in the page break and was slowly sucking him in. He shook his head and blinked, steeling himself, strengthening his aura against this onslaught.
The book was clearly cursed itself and he was certain for any novice sorcerer it would be impossible not to be corrupted by it. But he was no novice. He let out an exasperated breath.
“You won’t hide your secrets from me.”
The book seemed to react to his determination. He felt a pain in his head like he had been hit with an axe. He felt cold. He’d never felt cold. He shook his head and glanced up at Kuna.
“I’m doing this for her,” he said under his breath. He felt the thickness subside and turned to the next page.
He searched the book for Kuna’s curse, his shaky finger tracing down the lengthy column of curses in the table of contents.
“Curse of agony, blah, blah, curses of fear, of frenzy, da, da, da, of lies, of leaping, oh my, of melting flesh? No, no, no, Loki, we’re here for a reason,” he stopped himself, pulling his eyes away from the page and taking a deep breath before looking back again. “Da, da, da, of poison, oh, of possession. Stop! ‘T’ where are the ‘T’s””
He stopped abruptly on an entry:
CURSE OF TIED TONGUE
As he turned to the pages and began to read through the ritual for cursing an individual with a tied tongue, the blood began to drain from his face. He clenched his jaw so tight his teeth began to hurt. The heaviness he had pushed out began to creep back over him. His ears began to ring. With each step he read to this vicious ritual, a pit in his stomach grew.
“Restrain the victim, if possible, for they will struggle incessantly to escape. Some form of hypnosis or mind control will also suffice. For ease of the caster’s concentration, keep also the victim’s mouth gagged for the duration of the ritual, except for final steps.”
Loki tried unsuccessfully to block out the image of a restrained and frightened Kuna from his mind. He grunted in frustration and forced himself to focus.
“Force the victim into a state of agony - by any means of the caster’s choosing - whilst chanting the following incantation which bars them from speaking of the caster’s chosen subject.”
Through the din of ringing that had begun in his ears, Loki thought he heard Kuna scream. His breath caught in his throat as he sat up hard against the wall. There was absolute silence in the tent, save for Loki’s ragged breathing. He looked at Kuna, fast asleep on her bedroll.
“Kuna?” he whispered.
“Mmmm,” Kuna hummed softly in her sleep, undisturbed.
Loki closed his eyes for a moment and took a deep breath. He opened his eyes and looked down at the book. He felt exhausted. Slowly, he opened the book again to the page he had been reading.
“When the ritual is complete, the victim can be released. They will no longer be able to speak of subject of the caster’s choosing. Instead, the action will be replaced by the agony the caster forced upon them. Persistent attempts by the victim to speak of the subject can result in eventual amnesia in its regard. Examples of successful states of agony include pain of the body (specific or generalised), inability to breathe, inability to speak, inability to form coherent speech, etc, etc.”
Additional agonies had been scratched in the margins in different hands and inks.
“Sudden onset of singing, dancing, sleeping.
Frenzy.
Fear.
Death.
Melting flesh.
Combine ‘agonies’ to increase power of curse.”
“Gods,” Loki cringed.
He scanned further down the page, looking for how to reverse the curse. Not seeing it, he turned the page.
“UNTYING THE TONGUE”
“Gross,” Loki muttered. He ran his finger down the page, reading the instructions.
“This doesn’t seem so bad,” he said. “Actually, seems rather easy. We could do this tomorrow. Or now.”
He noticed a smudge at the end of the page and leaned closer to see. The dim light he had conjured was not the best for night reading. The little orb of light bobbed around the ceiling of the tent, occasionally flickering.
“Come over here, you stupid orb!” Loki whispered aggressively at the floating sphere. “You’re supposed to be over here! By me!”
The light tottered over, bumping into the wall as it drifted towards him.
“Useless thing,” Loki grumbled as the light settled over his head.
He leaned in close to see the smudge was actually an indication of a footnote.
“Ugh, of course, there’s always a bloody footnote.” He rolled his eyes and searched for the footnotes. The more digging he did in the book, the heavier the feeling in his aura became, and the more agitated he felt. Finally, he found them, buried in the back of the book.
“Here we go,
Only the casting sorcerer can lift a tied tongue curse. Death of the caster does not release the victim from the curse.”
Loki looked up, staring blankly across the room. He sat up and slowly closed the book. He stood and walked outside the tent into the crisp night air. His fist was clenched tight, his teeth near to cracking under the pressure of his jaw. He looked down at the book in his hand. His whole body now shaking with anger.
He threw the book as hard as he could, letting out a shout as he did. The book sailed kilometers into the darkened horizon. Loki growled and hissed. He felt the sting of tesseract energy as a portal opened beside him and the book sailed through it and smacked him in the face.
“Arrrrgh,” Loki growled. He glanced back at the tent, and Kuna still asleep inside. He swung the book around in frustration. Opening another portal to a random place, he stuck his head through and screamed with all his might.
He felt no remorse for the humans on the other side of the portal, whose dinner he appeared to have abruptly and loudly interrupted. When he had finished, his energy felt clean again, free from the book’s dark grip. His mind felt lighter, though he was still racked with rage over the conditionality of these curses.
He returned to the tent. Kuna had not moved. Loki stood over her for a moment, watching. How could someone do something so horrible to someone so small? What threat could she possibly pose to anyone to justify such drastic measures?
He shook his head. It didn’t matter now. What was done was done and he was going to undo it. He stretched and popped his back. Laying down on his bedroll next to Kuna, he watched her chest rise and fall with her gentle breathing. He pushed a lock of hair off her face and pulled the blanket up to her chin. With a flick of his hand, the dim light he had been using to read by went out and he fell asleep.
***
Kuna’s eyes opened slowly. She felt a weight on her side that had not been there when she fell asleep the night before. She looked down and saw Loki’s arm draped over her. She smiled. Very, very slowly, she turned over onto her other side to face him. She put her head on his chest and snuggled close. He didn’t push her away this time. He was still asleep.
She drifted in and out of sleep for a bit, savoring cuddle time with Loki. Light began to shine in through the windows of the tent. Kuna wondered how long Loki would sleep in. She was normally up before sunrise.
Her stomach growled. She grimaced and looked up at Loki, watching him. Carefully, she wiggled out from under his arm, replacing her toys under his arm where she had been. He snored softly but did not wake.
She stretched and yawned, then flinched at the sight of the room. There were books scattered everywhere. Loki had clearly been up reading last night. Kuna got up and started picking up books and stacking them in neat piles. She lined the walls with them, so they were out of the way. Each stack was perfectly level, spines facing out.
Finished with this task, she looked around for something else to do. Her eyes landed on a rogue book. A big, black book with scratches on the cover. She walked timidly over to it and knelt down to pick it up. Her hand hovered over the book, suspended in the air like it was repelled by a magnet. She shook her head and stood up. Something felt wrong about that book. It felt magicky. Stepping just outside the tent door, she picked up a stick and returned to the book and pushed it with the end of the stick over to the wall.
She looked over at Loki, cuddling with her toys on the floor. She had grown impatient with Loki’s excessive sleeping and so had her tummy. She laid down and crawled close to him.
“Loki?” she whispered. He did not stir. “Loki,” she said again, a little louder this time. Still there was no response. She apprehensively raised a finger and poked his arm. He snored on. Kuna frowned.
“Loki?” she asked again, a little louder. He turned onto his back, taking her toys with him. Kuna jumped and dove under her blanket. She peeked out from under to see if he was angry, but he was still asleep. Crawling closer once more, she poked him in different places, his arm, his leg, his chest, even his face, but he did not wake. She lifted her finger again and moved slowly towards his hair.
“Don’t you dare,” he said, a smile creeping across his face.
Kuna erupted in giggles. Loki sat up. He held out the stuffed animals in his hand and looked at them, confused and laughed, then grabbed Kuna putting her in his lap. She squealed with joy.
“Loki! Loki! Loki!” he mimicked, over and over, poking her chest and sides and neck. Kuna could not contain herself, she was giggling, trying to poke him back. He set her down and shook his head, laughing.
“What? What is it, child?” he asked, still laughing.
“I’m hungry,” she said, sheepishly.
“Are you?”
Kuna nodded.
“Well, we’re going to have to fix that, aren’t we?”
She nodded some more. “Yes, please.”
“Let me see here,” Loki said, as he searched the basket for some breakfast for Kuna. He pulled up only a small bit of bread. “Oh, is that it? I think it’s time for us to go shopping again.”
“Did you eat dinner last night?” Kuna asked him.
“Hmm? Oh, no, I was reading for a long time and the book was very frustrating and–” Kuna pushed Loki’s hand with the piece of bread back towards him. “And… I must have forgot. Kuna, you’re going to eat this. Don’t worry about me. We’ll go shopping today and get more. I’m fine.”
“You have to eat too,” she said.
He gave her the bread. “I’m fine. Eat this for now.”
“You eat.”
“No, you eat.”
Kuna stood and shook her head. “No, you.”
“Kuna–”
“You! Ah!” She pointed at Loki and then opened her mouth and pointed inside.
“You’re becoming very stubborn,” he said. “Who knows where you could have gotten that from.” He took a small bite out of the bread to pacify the defiant child. “Oh, you cleaned. You didn’t have to do that,” he acknowledged the tidied tent.
Kuna shrugged. “I don’t mind. But I think there’s something wrong with that book over there.”
“Which one? The black one?”
She nodded.
Loki gulped, choking a bit on the dry bread. “You didn’t open that one, did you?”
“I didn’t, I swear!” Kuna said, dropping to her knees and putting her hands over her head. “I promise! I didn’t open it. I promise!”
Loki sighed. “No – it’s all right—I didn’t mean to scare you like that. I—I just—oh, please don’t cry.”
“I promise I didn’t look at them without your permission!”
“It’s all right. I believe you. Please, don’t cry.” Loki reached forward and put his hand on Kuna’s shoulder. “I’m not upset with you, I promise.”
She looked up at him and wiped her eyes with the back of her hand. Scooting closer, she reached out to him, and he picked her up, setting her in his lap.
“Is that book bad? Will it make me blind?” She sniffled.
“No, no, no. It won’t blind you, darling, but it’s not a very nice book. I think it’s been cursed.”
Kuna shrank in his lap, staring at the book. “Did you open it?”
“Yes. But I’m a very powerful sorcerer so I know what to do with books like that.”
“Throw them away?”
“No!” Loki chuckled. “You don’t want to throw a book away! What if there are incredible secrets in there?”
“They should stay that way,” Kuna whispered.
“Oh, where’s your sense of adventure, Kuna? That book,” -he pointed at it- “gave me the answers to what we were looking for.”
“It did?”
“Yes. Well, sort of.”
“What did it say?”
Loki had fallen into a trap. “Um, well.” He feared unintentionally setting off Kuna’s curse by telling her about it. “It gave me instructions on how to help you.”
“Me?”
“Yes, that’s why we took all these books.” Loki was surprised by her lack of memory regarding the reasons they had gone to Asgard.
“How can a book help me? You’ve already helped me so much. You freed me and you gave me food and clothes and toys and–”
“Yes, but… well.” He ran his fingers through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck. Kuna looked up at him inquisitively. “That book is a book about curses. All the different kinds of curses and how to perform them. That’s why I didn’t want you to read it.”
“A cursed book of curses?”
“Precisely.”
“That sounds scary,” she whispered, wrapping herself in Loki’s cape. “How is that going to help me?”
Loki hesitated. “Well, Kuna, I think someone on your home planet may have cursed you.”
Kuna’s face went blank, expressionless. She turned grey. She shook her head, first a little then frantically, side to side.
“Now, now, everything’s all right,” Loki consoled her, gently rocking her.
“No. No!” she whispered. “I’m not cursed! It’s not true!”
“Shhhh,” Loki whispered, rocking her. “I’m going to fix it.” He gently stroked her hair and hugged her, holding her tight.
“I don’t have any magic, sir!”
Loki closed his eyes. He had triggered her curse. With time, she calmed down, clutching a handful of his hair. She sniffled and occasionally let out a sob.
“Look at me, darling. Do you remember who did this to you?”
“No,” she whispered.
“You told me once someone hurt you with magic,” Loki said. “Who was that?”
Kuna shifted uncomfortably, rubbing her arms. “Sometimes when I was bad, my masters would use their magic to punish me. It hurt a lot.”
“Mmm,” Loki nodded, hugging her again. “I’m sorry, darling. They were horrible people. I doubt were ever truly ‘bad’.”
Kuna stared at the ground.
“I’m guessing these Masters don’t let slaves use magic,” Loki said.
“Oh no!” Kuna exclaimed. “For a slave to have magic is the worst sin imaginable! If a slave has magic,” -she shuddered with fear- “all the masters slaves must be culled, and the slave’s family too.”
“My, that seems a bit much,” Loki said.
Kuna shook her head. “Slaves shouldn’t have magic. They would use it for evil things.”
“And who told you that?”
“The Masters,” they both said in unison. Loki nodded.
“Yes, I’m starting to understand,” Loki said, rolling his eyes. “What sorts of evil things would a slave use magic for?”
“Slaves are weak, and magic makes weak people do bad things. Slaves would use magic to trick and steal and kill people.”
Loki put both hands on either side of Kuna’s head. “My child, you have been brainwashed.”
Kuna put her hands on Loki’s. “No one’s washed my brains!”
“No, it means that these Masters on your home-system have forced you to believe all these things that are not true so that they can continue doing whatever they want to you.”
She gasped. “With magic?”
“Mmm, no. Propaganda can be just as powerful as magic.”
“Propa-what-now?”
“Propaganda. I’ll explain later, what’s important is that they are very wrong about slaves and magic and you.”
Kuna looked down at the ground again. She did not know what to think. The Masters had never been wrong about anything. Ever. At least, not that she could remember.
“Kuna,” Loki said. She looked up at him. He wiped the tears off her cheek with his thumb. “I know this is a lot to take in. It isn’t easy learning that your life has been a lie, believe me. But I’m going to make things better for you. Do you trust me, darling?”
Kuna nodded and hugged him tight.
