Was typing 'vivziepop critical' in the search bar and was recommended this blog called @/fyeahvivzieclonez-blog. The blog has been inactive for eight years (2017 was eight years ago feel old yet?)
It reminded me of a video made by Izzzyzzz that was made five years ago, and it is crazy that no one copies Viv's art style anymore.
Not counting Hellaverse artists who copy the corporate Spindlehorse style. I am talking about people that were fandom before the Hellaverse pilot existed and were fans of her fan art and original characters.
It is crazy how beloved she was (yes, Viv got into drama during her ZooPhobia days, but no one was making YouTube videos about those events) and inspired so many artists back in her heyday. That Die Young music video inspired young and starting artists in the millions (It has over 50 million views before being removed) and is one of main reasons she became popular in the animation space.
Nowadays, she inspires artists how to not design characters, how not to write and develop a story, to make sure their female characters have depth and do not exist to serve a role in a male character story, and not to have public crash outs over mundane criticisms.
She, like her show are the viewed as laughing stocks and easy to make fun of. Viv is known for being the creator of the gay demon cartoons, is obsessed with the swear word 'fuck', she cannot take criticisms and blocks people over shitpost memes, and most important, screw over so many ex-friends and collaborators.
Like no one wants to be 'another vivziepop'. When tweets about Viv or the shows go viral, time to time I see users replying/quote tweeting 'I do not want to end up like Viv' or 'I do not want to be vivziepop 2.0' and similar wording.
I have no idea how to end this post. It is just wild how the internet's view on Viv switched since the release of the Hazbin pilot (I learned Viv from YouTube videos about her past drama it dropped).

I hope this doesn't come off weird but I really appreciate how you really try to tread carefully and acknowledge nuance in discourse posting, especially on a platform that is pretty much designed to devolve into arguments (not that that's unique to Tumblr, tbh that's pretty much standard in most modern internet spaces). I think everyone needs to remember that it's okay to disagree and you should in fact let someone express an opinion you don't agree with, and listen to them. Most queer discourse is a bunch of ppl who basically agree, trying to work out details. It's messy and difficult, but it's necessary. You (general you) can let someone have slightly different opinions and just acknowledge it and move on. Most ppl on this site aren't theorists or activist, we're all just ppl working out our shit.
Like yeah that's kind of it y'know? I'm so tired of that. I'm so tired of making every post as nuanced as goddamn possible. Like sometimes it's cathartic, and I do it when I have the time for it, but it was way more satisfying when I was still ultra baby trans. I still am a bit, but I'm slowly pulling out of it.
Like there's a component of "stop infighting go outside" to all this, but at the end of the day none of the stuff causing "drama" here is ever gonna affect who I stand in solidarity with or who I march with. I love my transmascs friends deeply.
This is my blog. It's not a feminist text. It's not an activist text. It's my blog. Fighting and arguing and shitposting and venting within a community online should not stop you from picking up a brick with them later. I want someplace to vent and hash out my thoughts and have at least a couple of people read it, just to figure things out and hash things out with myself.
I learn and figure things out by reasoning them out, so my weird rambles about gender and feminism are my own tepid little journaling as I step into this world.
But somewhere along the way those "couple people" turned into 16k people and that's not really a vibe that's possible at this scale. And honestly, a lot of my "defenders" are a huge part of it to. If I get into an online argument now, which I do as like... Straight up recreational time wasting, and have for long before I had a "big blog", I have to deal with knowing that there's a 5 digit number of people that I can't control who will now see someone they follow (me) disagreeing with someone else.
Hell, to get meta, I'm worried about this post itself being interpreted the wrong way. As I type this I'm thinking like, okay, are people going to blow this up and say that I'm getting "harassed"? Are people who disagree with my stances from like a week ago gonna say I have a victim complex? Are people who don't have a strong opinion gonna accuse me of infighting? How many pornbots are gonna pick up on this one?
But I'm literally just venting about the vibe shift around here, not saying anything is right or wrong, y'know?

One more note on the bots, if (colossal if) I were to bring one of them back, it would probably be the jeopardy bot. Being an offshoot of shitpost generator he has all the benefits that shitbot has. He wouldn't be difficult to create, and I wouldn't have to worry about how to host him because I could just boot him up every once and a while to fill up the queue. Plus, I wouldn't have to update him to be 'funny' again, and there's still some novelty to it even in the era of Generative ai. The appeal isn't what he generates but in the ways people try to answer a randomly generated, gibberish question.
Becsuse that's thing with shitpost bot, it's not that he's difficult to make, but that I'm not really an internet comedian anymore. The posts he would put out would essentially be along the line of "what's up fuckers it's skibidi ohio time". There'd be this persistent feeling of 'how do you do fellow kids'.
Skylar, by contrast, has the opposite problem. I could very well make a Skylar that's as good or better than she used to, but that she is definitionally a language learning model. She's an amateur and primitive one sure, but the thing I was ultimately aspiring to make was ChatGPT. It's hard to feel motivated to improve on her in that context. I despise things like Grok and Gemini, and I can't push myself to succeed at something that would ultimately be following in their footsteps. The things I dreamed of are now reality, and they're making everything worse.
As for what I'm currently doing, I have made a personal discord bot custom made for private TTRPG servers I'm on. Gretchen and Zafir, I call them. They both run off the same program, but with a variable switched that changes it from one mode to the other.

They're very basic, and their markov chain responses are pretty much there as an easter egg. Their main functionality is fetching character sheets, laying out the upcoming games in chronological order, and sending out reminders when games are upcoming. A plugin I'm using called 'Natty' makes them really good at correctly good at picking out times and dates from a post.

so what's your take on the recent "stonetoss is a much better comic than haus of decline because it has fewer words" over on twitter?
I really wanted to reply with a snarky dismissive one-liner. I had one written and everything, but then I wanted to make sure I understood the context and looked into this and ugh. Now I have to explain Twitter drama, this sucks.
Okay. Christ.
Haus of Decline makes this comic

The comic pops up again, and a person named Basil sees it and has a take that it has too many words.
As arguably the most prominent Webcomic Critic out there (which is the say, the only one still doing it), I kind of prefer the wordless version as well, but it's a matter of taste, more than an "objectively correct" take.
Basil then follows up on that take with a rather spicier one
It's worth noting here that Basil is saying Hans Kristian Graebener is "better" in the sense that they believe it's more effective propaganda, not in their own personal opinion of quality. And that's....arguable? For one, Haus of Decline isn't really trying to be left-wing propaganda, it's just shitposting, and for two I think Hans Kristian Graebener's effectiveness is way more complicated and sophisticated than just "brevity". And for three, saying Hans Kristian Graebener is "better comics" is really ill-advised, especially given some context I'll reveal shortly.
Haus sees this, calls Basil a moron, and it turns into a dumb stupid internet argument where both people look bad. And being, again, the top Webcomic Critic, I can confirm that sometimes when you call a webcomic bad the creator will get mad at you over it and that's just something you have to expect and live with and try not to beclown yourself in response to. I don't think Basil responded well here, and "just learn to take criticism" is a pretty common and loaded phrase in Webcomics Discourse. Still, whatever. A questionable take led to a short slap fight. That would be the end of it.
Except. The context.
Seven or eight months ago, Basil made this tweet.
Which is a far better tweet, and is now a meme used by liberals in intra-left twitter discord fights to dunk on the anti-voting Trump-curious twitter left. This tweet also came around the time Will Stancil was whipping a lot of normie liberals to push back against the anti-Biden narrative and obviously the election itself has led a notable shift in the vibes where you're seeing a lot more "Biden's not that bad" takes and even a bit of "Actually, Biden is good and I'm tired of pretending he's not" in leftist spaces. And if you follow my personal account you'll know that my vibes have also shifted in that direction a lot. Basil obviously didn't cause the shift, even Stancil didn't, it was the election, but it's their name on the top of the tweet that's used as an anti-anti-voting meme that the left still doesn't has a great response to, so a lot of leftists fucking hate Basil. The kind of passionate hatred you only feel when you're getting clowned on by Matthew fucking Yglesias. So there's a huge hate mob against Basil in the way that hate mobs tend to occur.
This all attracts the attention of Hans Kristian Graebener, who pops out a comic taking a shot at Haus over this. Which is, honestly, a much better example of why Hans Kristian Graebener is effective propaganda than the brevity thing, because god damn did that pour gasoline on the fire, and....well....tldr:
My take is that this whole fight is incredibly stupid, no one involved looks good, and the only one benefiting from it is the literal fucking Nazi.

Have you done any other Fire Emblem Artwork outside of the Claude and Dimitri Commissions
I allways find these kinds of questions funny because im reminded "oh right not everyone who follows me on social media knows the deep lore" because i feel like i got my start as like an FE person and most my old art and videos are FE releated (i was also like 14 so that art is bad and mostly not on the internet) so a lot of me learning how to draw and edit comes from doin fe stuff haha
Not gunna post the really old stuff but I do have a few drawings from the past few years (which im realizing is mostly shitposts lmao) (and also mostly FE4) these are anywhere from 1-5 years old and not in any specific order
I also have this one which is also a comm but for a different user than the other fe comms I have posted (this one was for @lostblade ) i don't know if i put it here yet
there is a 3rd person who has also commed me fe art but I don't think I have posted any of his comms online (beause they were mostly from before i posted comms publicly) (idk why i didnt do that for the first like 2ish years I did comms) so I would want to ask him before posting any of the comms I've done for him (some people don't want their comms posted publicly and/or want to be anonymous etc.)
I also just went through my comm folder and notice i have quite a few comms of peoples ocs or other characters in fe outfits and the such but I don't know if that counts for that question (a lot of those i only posted to twitter back when it was useable) (nowadays i dont post there at all)
oh one other thing speaking of original characters and fe outfits most of my own ocs are HEAVILY inspired by fe characters but thats a post for another day
anyway idk if you expected a text wall like this for your ask but here you go
#ask#fire emblem#fe4#fe5#fe8#fe9#fe14#fe16#fe17#sigurd fire emblem#seliph fire emblem#leif fire emblem#nanna fire emblem#azura fire emblem#corrin fire emblem#timerra fire emblem#eirika fire emblem#julia fire emblem#eyvel fire emblem#sakura fire emblem#lewyn fire emblem#ced fire emblem#fee fire emblem#black knight fire emblem#ike fire emblem#byleth fire emblem#theres more in that one image but im not tagging every game and protag#meme art

Hey so - I know this is a strange ask but I am curious!!
If you're comfy with answering, why did you originally use 4Chan? Is Tumblr better than it? Is there any funny stories you remember about it?
4Chan is very, very interesting to me but I dare not step foot in the land of acid - I like learning about how/why people use/used it and the general mental toll it takes!
I first used 4chan in 2011. Like many internet set pieces, I was there for the memes. The lulz. The lols. The hahas. The whimsical chaos and insanity of 4chan in unmatched. Is Tumblr better than 4chan, though? Can I get back to that question in a second? There are so many funny stories about 4chan experiences I have had, that I could never fit them all in here. That said, I assign much more value to other things that haven't been neccesarily funny. There have been multiple births of internet memes that I was accidentally present for, which was nice. More importantly, I have chatted with people from completely different walks of life than I, and for me personally, that always will hold value. I like variety. There have been individual things that anons on 4chan have told me that became parts of my worldview. For example, one time I saw an anon say...
"Try not to write individuals off as being 'useless'. This is intellectual violence and this will plant the seeds of darkness in your soul. There are no useless humans. Please remember this." That changed my worldview permanently. And yes, it was a 4chan user who said it. Think about that. For how freaking bad the reputation of that site is, there are some beautiful minds that inhabit it. What made me stop using 4chan was going to EMT school last year. I was flipping through my textbook a few days before classes began and my book said something like "Medical professionals must be oceans of empathy. Do not cast judgements of any kind onto your patients." Something tells me I don't need to elaborate, but I am going to, anyway. After reading that I knew I had to axe 4chan. This was immediate. To be honest, quitting 4chan had been on the to-do list for 7 years. (The mood of the site changed a ton when Trump entered the political stage.) I know I just said NICE things about the site, but yeah, as you may have heard, for every beautiful mind there is on 4chan, there seems to be two troubled minds. I try my very best to resist succumbing to internet hive minds, but sometimes, things fall through the cracks. There were hateful thoughts I would think about other humans, and I knew the crack that these thoughts were leaking in from. It was 4chan. For one example, when you're constantly bombarded with anti-trans content, by sheer osmosis, these opinions can leak into your mind without you knowing about it. Who wants that? Who WANTS to be a hater? Sure, like anybody else, I still think my hater stuff sometimes. But hey, I'm trying out here. Also, it's been getting harder and harder to see funny/interesting stuff on 4chan. Look, I like laughing at stupid shit on the internet. That's originally why I started using the site. It's become increasingly common for threads to devolve into political rambling and conservative rhetoric. It gets boring after a while. If you tell me there will be shitposting at your party, it better be there.
I think what kept me from quitting for so long was the lack of viable alternatives 4chan (or so I thought). I had tried to quit 4chan numerous times and I would usually try to get my meme/shitpost fix on reddit. Just yuck. Have you ever tried to use reddit? I don't know how YOU feel about reddit, but I sure do know how I feel about it. That site is just the worst and it is SO. NOT. a viable alternative. I would use reddit for like a minute or two and think "Oh yeah, now I remember why I never come here.", and back to 4chan I would go. So after I read what I read in my textbook, I quit 4chan cold turkey. I experienced what felt like meme withdrawals, but I was resolute in not going back. I refuse to be a medical professional that uses 4chan. It just feels off to me. I also knew that I didn't want to use reddit, either. Then I recalled what I have been shown of Tumblr in the past. This was a lightbulb moment. Most of the content I have seen on tumblr I have thoroughly enjoyed, but I simply never used the website all that often. There have been some blogs I check out regularly, but as for daily use? No. I had tried in that past, but it never stuck. I'm not 100% sure why. Was it because 4chan users are told that Tumblr is an awful website? Maybe that was a big part of it. Anyways, I just sort of made a rule with myself that if I wanted to look at stupid shit on the internet, it must be through Tumblr. This decision also coincided with my desire to focus on mental health/become more mentalls stable. I feel happier after not using 4chan anymore, to boot.
And you know what? It did become my favorite site. Not only is the quality of content just as good than the quality of content on 4chan, the quality is more consistent. The content is also more innocent, good-natured, positive, polite, and...FUN. Every day, I see stuff on this site that KILLS ME. None of the whimsical weirdness of 4chan that I was attracted to is lost, either. People on this site are so goofy and the users here have an excellent grasp of comedy and shitposting. I love Tumblr, and I never imagined that I would love Tumblr. Wanna know the best part? Tumblr is curated! I used to think Tumblr is a hive mind website that molds its users into thinking a certain way. It really isn't. I was wrong.
Did you know that Tumblr and 4chan are two different sides of the same coin? I am serious. Both sites highly value original content, weirdness, authenticity, and not being a normie. For how much hate 4chan users feel toward Tumblr, it's amusing how right up their alley the content on Tumblr actually is. It's difficult to describe.
My time spent on 4chan was not useless. Writing people off as useless is intellectual violence. That site molded me into who I am today, for better and for worse, but it was simply time to stop. I don't want that kind of negativity knocking around in my head all day. Medical profesionals should avoid being haters at any and all costs.
I am so glad you asked, by the way. Thank you, and sorry if I rambled.

Tumblr, in my estimation, cannot be a place that is profitable, because the aims of the userbase can be described somewhere between fuck around and fuck off. No one comes here for anything other than shitposting. Companies don't try to find your tumblr, to my knowledge, so it's the last safe place on the internet to just say stupid shit and learn from it, instead of becoming unemployable.
Tumblr would be a really good buy for like, Archive.org. Someone who doesn't have to worry about 'profit', they just have to keep the lights on. Do moderation by roundtable, when someone submits a support request, like "I'm being harassed", the proof they provide is sent to ten random active bloggers(unrelated to any involved parties), and their decision is actionable. Provide the tools for self determination, instead of a black box that doesn't seem to be working for anyone. It's cheaper, and fairer to the community in general. I dunno, it's probably not perfect, but it's better than 'just doing nothing until the person who keep complaining gives us a reason to ban them, that makes the problem go away'. Honestly, Matt whatever should just donate tumblr to them, call it a charitable donation, claim it on his taxes. It's a sinking ship every minute you're trying to extract value from it. It's real current value is almost certainly hovering around "the change in people's couches of like 20 households".
Tumblr has a place on the internet, an important place, but it'll never be a need that is profitable. And Tumblr's history and reputation kind of prevent it from ever being changed into something different that would be as profitable as whoever currently owns it would want. I suppose you could burn it all to the ground, wipe the servers and start a twitter clone. But it'll just be one more on a field that's so oversaturated it's not worth trying. I'm not sure why people keep buying tumblr, it's a fantastic creative community, but it's products can't be sold, and the userbase is poor and has little to no interest in paying for 'upgrades'. So you could sell everything to AI scrapers, or data miners, but you'll lose the entire userbase and no one's gonna come in to fill the gaps left. It's a quick and messy death.

Davrin’s Scene with Eldrin
This was supposed to be a post about the positive aspects of Veilguard, but somehow it spiraled into how I’d rewrite the scene between Davrin and Eldrin. Happy reading, I guess? Let’s start with the original dialogue snippet as it plays out. You meet an elf named Eldrin who clearly knows Davrin. Eventually, you ask him to tell you something about Davrin:
Eldrin: “He sang a lot.”
Rook: “This guy?”
Eldrin: “He’d sing to the halla.”
Rook: “You mean the Grey Warden standing next to me?”
Davrin: “Now hold on—I’d get tired herding them, so I’d hum to keep myself awake, and they slowed down to listen!”
Rook: “So naturally you broke into song.”
Davrin: “Only when humming didn’t work. Just getting the job done.”
Eldrin: “And now the job is caretaker to a griffon.”
Rook (Choice): Diplomatic/Amused/Stern
Eldrin: “Seems my old lessons sunk in. Not every creature in the forest is quarry.”
Davrin: “I didn’t ignore everything you said.
I like this scene. It’s fun, cute and wholesome. That said, it’s not perfect. The dialogue is clunky for one. So let's tackle it!
New Scene Setup: In a quiet clearing of the Arlathan Forest, an older Dalish elf stands beside a lone halla, stroking it gently. Around him, the faint hum of activity carries from other elves tending to their duties, though they keep to themselves. As you approach, the elf looks up, his posture stiffening. His expression is wary, but when his gaze lands on Davrin, his shoulders ease, and a faint smile forms on his lips.
You exchange pleasantries, and then ask him to share something about Davrin. He chuckles softly before speaking:
Eldrin: (Pauses thoughtfully, then grins) “He used to sing to the halla.” Rook: (Amused, raises an eyebrow) “Is that so?” Davrin: (Slightly defensive) “Now hold on—" Eldrin: (With a knowing smile) That’s right. As I recall, you had a thing for 'The White Stag’s Lament'. Always humming about Ghilan’nain and her journey home. Even the halla seemed to know it by heart after a while. Davrin: (There is a shift in his expression when Ghilan’nain is mentioned) "I wasn't doing it for fun. Herding halla’s exhausting, so I hummed to stay awake. That they slowed down was just a bonus." Eldrin: (Teasing) “Funny, I seem to remember a lot more singing than humming.” Davrin: (half-joking, half-defensive) "I only sang when humming didn’t work!"
(At this point, Assan interrupts, trotting up to Davrin and nudges him for attention. Davrin hands him a snack and pats him on the head.)
Eldrin: (smiling) “I see some of my old lessons finally stuck."
(Davrin shrugs, but there’s no hiding the softness in his expression as Assan nudges him for another pat.)
Davrin: (glances at Eldrin, voice is softer) “I didn’t ignore everything you said... some of it stuck, whether I wanted it to or not.”
Disclaimer: I don't claim to be an expert, I’m just doing this for fun. I'm not taking a jab at the original author of this scene. I have the luxury of shitposting on the internet, which gives me ultimate creative freedom without the constraints of actual game development, take this for what it is.
This is pretty much how I’d go about it if I wrote it. I’d probably change a whole lot more if I went through the entire scene, but I’ll leave it at this unless someone wants me to dive deeper.
Thought process
Context: Eldrin doesn’t know about the whole… elven gods running amok situation, and Davrin chooses not to burden him with it.
Let Eldrin and Davrin have their moment without Rook interrupting every other line.
Add more immersion! Instead of characters standing around, I'd have them interact with their surroundings. Too many scenes in Veilguard feel static, like the world is waiting for you to show up.
Add more information! As it's written, we don’t really learn anything new about Davrin: We already know he has a soft side and tends to be practical. So I added a connection to Ghilan'nain.

From your experience working as the secret agent behind the JSTOR blog here on tumblr.com, how many of the people who work at/for JSTOR (assuming your job entails frequent contact with them) would you say are familiar with ye olde hellsite/general hellsite-adjacent internet culture?
I ask because as a sophomore English/Theatre student, I’m quickly learning that many of the academics who I thought would be stuffy and out of touch are actually the some of most chronically online and shitpost-fluent people out there lmao (vibes of “do not cite the deep magic to me witch i was there when it was written” etc etc)
Unless there are more I haven't met yet, it seems those who have been familiar have since abandoned the site (understandable). Against my better judgement, I remain chronically online and an avid user 😪

// Due to the length, it'll be under a read-more
I remember starting my RPing journey back in... 2014-2015 on this little place called Miiverse. It was the most inconvenient place to start RPing, but we all had to start somewhere. and boy did I had to start somewhere; I didn't know much on the whole RPing shtick, using mostly the script style of RPing (e.g. Ruby: dialogue *actions*), threads didn't go anywhere much, and Miiverse had the problem of rarely having RPers thanks to it's "30 posts a day" limit. I hung around for almost a good year I believe until it was time for Miiverse to slowly die out and close it's door.
It was around it's dying years I stumbled further into the internet's other corners. Places like Deviantart and whatnot... and then there was this little place called Tumblr. My curiosity piqued due to knowing a really really REALLY old mutual back on Miiverse and to an extent Deviantart. My start was awfully ROUGH. I didn't know anything about Tumblr and how it rolled; icons, PFPs, writing, etc. I didn't even start RPing until like... around 2016-2017 maybe? It was slightly better than MV, but it was still a bumpy ride. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't have fun learning the ropes.
My start in the platform was rough to say the least; icons weren't used all that much, I didn't really get all semi-lit - literate like I am today, hell I didn't know jack about trimming my posts! but it didn't stop me from trucking on. I slowly but surely learned the ropes, made a small group of friends, met my first love slowly turned toxic bitch of an ex-GF on here, it was going slow but smoothly. Then around the '17 - '18 period, I started fresh with all the experience in hand. Said years rolled around and I slowly transitioned over to Discord as well, making another slew of friends over there as well.
And that was when things kicked off; I was RPing like it was a casual past time of mine, made many of friends, many of foes, but most importantly I was having fun. And then 2022 came around... my self-promo came to be, and I locked in to take my hobby more serious. Now look at how it started vs. how it's going: I started out knowing nothing about RPing, I ended with years of experience under my belt and many mutuals, and with many mutuals eventually came 1,000 followers. I never thought I'd get this far into my life, let alone the RPC, but here we are. And it wouldn't have been possible without some close mutuals I know and like to give a shout-out to:
@astral-multiverse ~ I'm getting the elephant out of the room with the one I've been by their side the most since day one. What started with small interactions here and there slowly turned into full blown long-term RPs broken up by smaller RPs. We made so many ships with your OC (whom I'll say it before and say it again, is one of my faves in the RPC), and OOC you're a blessed bean that I can go to anytime for anything be it nerding out for venting. Thank you so much for being by my side 'til death does us apart, and here's to many more RPs.
@the-expatriate ~ Much like Astral above, we had tiny interactions here and there. But good gracious you are one of the most blessed muns I've had the pleasures of interacting with. Your OC is AMAZING, we were like twins nerding out about music and similar tastes in games/shows, but most importantly you knew me so well with my Autism and was always there to speak to me when needed. I gotta give you the same amount of thanks for being around this long, couldn't have done it without you.
@grayfxce ~ You are literally the SMG4 of the RPC. What started out as a silly concept of roleplaying as the titular anon soon turned into something huge; you fleshed Gray out into an OC that would fit in any place, anywhere. And boy did we nerd out about similar tastes and shitposted like there was no tomorrow! You're one of the many whose company I've enjoyed greatly, and I hope to RP with you again.
@historias-multorum ~ One of my more recent mutuals I had stumbled across after being followed by them... I made the best call I could ever make when I followed back and started interacting. Your portrayals are spot-on, and you're so understanding and to the point in and out of RPing. And shipping with you is always a treat, especially Sasuten! Thank you for being by my side, I greatly appreciate RPing and speaking with you and hope to continue this train.
@musecheerios ~ Also another recent mutual I've began to interact with, and also another call that I've made that was worth it. Our interactions have been amazing so far, both IC and OOC. You're the literal definition of "Soft Baby Hell" and will not take shit with anyone, something I can appreciate in a mun. Talking with you has been amazing, and I hope to interact more with you!
Honorable mentions for muns I've interacted with and/or yearn to interact with more: @on-dragons-wings, @divinityunleashed, @chronicparagon, @whiskeysmulti, @reddawnmultimuse, @dragvnsovl, @mz-pixie (also an old mutual of mine!), @hxroic-wxlls-rxborn, @samayo-tamashi, @wildxcardrebel, @flamesignite
Thank you all so much for being stuck with this anxiety-induce otaku of a mun, and here's to many more with you guys.
~ May your heart be your guiding key ~

Kagerou Daze: Ch. 62 - Saeru’s “Hunting Ground” 🖤💛🐍
Literal Translation
Kuroha: “Wishes are fodder (for me), and humans are my seedbed.” (*)
Notes:
Alt 1: “Wishes are bait, and mankind is my seedbed.”
Alt 2: “What I wish for is prey, and mankind is my seedbeed.”
Official Translation by Yen Press
Kuroha: What I seek is prey…
…And mankind is my hunting ground. (*)
---
クロハ:願いは「餌」だ
クロハ:人間どもは「苗床」だ
---
(Kuroha: Negai wa “esa” da.)
(Kuroha: Ningen domo wa “naedoko” da.)
---
Notes:
Dialogue from Kagerou Daze Manga: Ch. 62 - NO TITLE
餌 (Esa, “Animal feed; fodder; pet food; bait; lure; enticement”)
苗床 (Naedoko, “Seedbed; seed plot; nursery”)
Notion Version
Copied my rambles over from my Notion Docs for those that prefer the picture version with line breaks and highlights.
Rambles
Kagerou Daze: Ch. 62 - NO TITLE - Saeru speaks with Konoha
“What I wish for is prey, and mankind is my seedbed.” (Literal Translation)
“What I seek is prey… And mankind is my hunting ground.” (Official English Translation by Yen Press)
Wanted to ramble a bit.
I think the JP wording is so interesting.
The original line has such interesting wording…
I LOVE Yen Press’ prose and how they translated this line.
I posted my literal TL above.
Oh, the JP wording is interesting... I also learned a new word with this.
Yen Press translated his dialogue SO well. This line is SOOO good. I love it so much!!! 🖤 💛 🐍
“Wishes are bait/fodder” → More literal TL of the JP text.
“What I wish for is prey” → More liberal TL by Yen Press.
I definitely understand how Yen Press got that, with Saeru basically saying, “What I wish for is bait/fodder” -> "What I seek is prey..."
Especially since “bait” is used to lure in and entice prey.
The way Yen Press translated his dialogue here is so good. It perfectly plays up to Saeru Hebi being the predator animal (“hunter”) and the Mekakushi Dan (“Eyes”) being his prey (targets)
He’s the instigator of the time loop tragedy, and the “orchestrator” and “winner” of this game.
Reminds me of a puppet master who controls the strings.
The evil, cruel, powerful snake, and these weak little humans!!! (At least in his eyes)
Notes
Word:
餌 (Esa, "Bait”)
餌 (Esa) refers to food you give to an animal. It could refer to bait to lure prey (ex. when fishing), or animal feed (ex. when feeding your pets)
Word:
苗床 (naedoko, "seedbed; nursery; seed-plot")
Consists of:
苗 (nae, "seedling; sapling; young plant")
床 (toko, "bed; bedding; floor")
Misc Rambles

I think what's also interesting is that the JP version uses the same wording (repetition) of “Desire” (*) to emphasize the “Desire” that underlies Saeru's origins and motives (to fulfill his Master’s desire, since Azami’s original desire is what’s sustaining him)
Note: 願い (negai, “desire; wish; hope”)
As a language, English is harsh on repetition unlike Japanese, and needs to avoid sounding too stiff.
Though I do think Yen Press keeps it pretty intact with the use of “Desire”
With the original JP version, his wording does evoke the imagery of a “human seedbed” 🌱
It also reminds me that Saeru has referred to the Mekakushi Dan as “pitiful little sheeps” (哀れな子羊たち, aware na kohitsuji-tachi) 🐏🐑
For me, it evokes the imagery of the poor little sheeps falling prey to the big bad snake... 🐍
A seedbed is a bed where seeds are grown (where seedlings are planted) 🌱
The place (world made by Azami) where “seeds” (humans) are “planted” (birthed)
Huh...
I bet he’d have such a fascinating viewpoint of the world.
After all, Saeru Hebi is the embodiment of Azami’s knowledge/wisdom. 🤭
Also my internet has been SO ass lately, like it keeps randomly disconnecting 😭
Shitpost Rambles
I originally wrote these as tags but tbh I think I should add these rambles to the post itself.
Also with how Saeru calls Konoha 兄弟 (kyoudai, “brother; sibling; mate; friend”) and 同胞 (douhou, “brethren; brothers”)
Since they come from the same creator (Azami)
It's so funny to think of this whole situation as Clearing and Awakening's Beef. Family feud /lh
Comedy Show Start-Up: The Snake Siblings are fighting!!! 💥💥💥
Saeru is like the eldest sibling no one likes /lh
It's so funny (angsty) when you bring the 9/6 multiships into this with Ene and KuroEne and KonoEne.
Mr. Steal Yo Girl and Mr. Steal Yo Life (Body) 🖤💛💙🐍🐇
Feila was like “The brother that wants everything that you have and ended up taking it all for himself…”
Ene look away from this mess /lh
Guy who stole your late love/lover's body.
This situation must be so surreal 😭
Don't take this seriously, this is more shitposty
Yen Press Rambles
I also noticed that EN localizers tend to lighten the scan colours a bit (dark gray vs. pure black) in their scans.
I wonder if it's intentional irt printing EN volumes (or if it's cheaper to print them that way?)
I far prefer Yen Press over the other major English manga localizers (Viz, Kodansha)
I LOVE Yen Press' prose and translation style.
Yen Press’ TLs are always more liberal compared to fan-TLs. Their translators typically have such a good understanding of context.
There are some minor errors with the Eye Ability names being translated inconsistently, but I’ll forgive it since it’s honestly inevitable in a 200 page volume.
Thank god that they were the ones who translated the Kagerou Daze manga.
Yen Press's official EN TLs have always been good for the most part (aside from the minor TL errors for the Eye Abilities and etc., but I can't really blame them since it's inevitable in a 200 page volume)
100000000% prefer them over Kodansha and especially Viz LMFAO
Yen Press as an EN manga localizer has really good prose.
Yen Press rules.
I trust that Viz has skilled translators, but Viz tends to make weird translation choices sometimes. Maybe this issue is on Viz's publishers or editors?
At the very least, Magi's official EN TL is decent. Thank god.
Though, I wish Yen Press translated Magi tbh.
It’s usually Viz that tends to get the rights to shounen series (and some shoujos)
I just vastly prefer Yen Press' approach to translation and their TL quality.
I really like Yen Press’ translations.
Though I’d say that the ONE thing that Viz and Kodansha TLs have going for them over Yen Press is that they release scans in super HD (or at least make it more easy for manga raw providers to rip them), so their scans are much more higher quality and more convenient to use as art refs.
Viz and Kodansha's official mangas tend to be sized at about the 1500 x 2500 px range.
It depends on the series.
Yen Press releases their E-books at a smaller resolution size.
Kagerou Daze's official English version scans by Yen Press are about 900 x 1350 px.
I know Yen Press translated the KagePro manga volumes and LNs.
And frankly, thank god.
YP has minor TL errors with inconsistently translating the names of the Eye Abilities at times, but that’s more minor tbh. I really like their translation style in general.
And how Yen Press tends to include info pages explaining honorifics and key terms.
Idrc for Yen Press’ lack of redrawn SFX tbh, so I'm completely fine with Kodansha and Yen Press just putting the translation for what the SFX means in EN text, either next to, or under the original JP SFX.
I did confirm that the Kagerou Daze Manga’s Official English Translation by Yen Press has scans that are 900 x 1350 px.
They are not as HD as the ones I ripped directly from the JP raws. The Kagerou Daze manga's JP scans are 1441 x 2048 px.
But it'll do for now.
Yen Press also tends to release official EN TLs really quickly for the series they work on. Yen Press is honestly a blessing
Yen Press is one of the only major EN localizers (at least that I know of) where their TLs are either the same quality as, or even better than fan translations, and much more accurate too.
Yen Press' TL and wording/prose are REALLY GOOD. I also love their translator notes.
It helped me figure out things since they added to the context of some lines.
Their translators are REALLY skilled and have such a good understanding of context.
Their translators make more liberal TLs, but are still in line with the OG text for the most part.
Their TL helped me understand the context much better than fan-TLs too, since they add to the context of some lines with their own interpretations
