Okay so I was reading Absolute Batman the other day and I just had to know what an Absolute Nightwing would look like in this universe. Here is my draft.

The Flying Grayson's die. The difference is, Bruce isn't around. He never even heard about Dick Grayson. Dick, obviously stricken with grief, finds an outlet a lot of people find as helpful - a martial art. Specifically, Capoeira.

His Mentor (I know nothing of Capoeira, I'm using it because it best represents how I envision Nightwing fights. I'm calling the guy who does the teaching 'Mentor') starts noticing a bad habit within Dick's sparring sessions. He's too aggressive. He goes for incapacitation too quickly and harshly for his fellow students. His Mentor kicks him out of the Dojo (again, bare with me. I know nothing!!!)

The Joker takes notice of this. He sees an orphan, violent and lashing out, and tries to manipulate young Dick. (He's 16 or 17 now. I can't have him be twelve. Not in the Absolute Universe.)

It works. In the short term. Over time though, he starts seeing some odd things. Joker never laughs at jokes. Never smiles. He's cold and calculating, and he never, ever, let's his guard down. Over time, we see Alfred pop up in a few panels. (Starting the third book. I think that's perfect.) Dick immediately takes notice. One night, he confronts Alfred, nearly getting the jump on the old man. Alfred, working with the Batman, doesn't even flinch. This is a common occurrence. Bruce just shows up, out of nowhere, pretty often.

Alfred: Alright Bat. You've had your fun. Let's get some more Intel on my guy.

Dick: Who TF are YOU!??? Why are you stalking me? Who is "Bat"?

Alfred, immediately recognizing this wasn't the Batman, turns around, gun pointed at Dick's center mass.

A: Who are you?? How did you get here??! Tell me why I shouldn't knock off this building right now!!

Alfred had obviously not hesitated to use his non lethal rounds to knock back Dick, and now that he had the kid trapped on a ledge, he figured he was in a good position to get some answers.

Okay that's about the rest of the mockup I can do for this version. Alt version is Dick is the rich one and grew up in a manor near Arkham. Parents never die, yada yada. I think the premise should be relatively the same though. Kid out for revenge, doesn't have Bruce as a mentor, generally a reject, and violent. Goes on a "vengeance spree" in which he is actually being manipulated by Joker, and ends up becoming Nightwing by the end of the 5th book. This series would need some serious Time skips.

i used to freehand comics all the time as a child and since the part i liked was the drawing part i would just draw panel after panel because i didn't want to stop drawing to think about icky icky words, plus the story TOTALLY still made perfect sense! to me! and noone else, but 'whoooo caaaaares omgggg its not like comics and sequantial art are a communicative meeediummmm lmaoooooo'. i spent my entire childhood telling myself stuff like "oh pfft I know this story by heart- ill SIMPLY remember the dialogue and write it later" ...and. I can't help but admire baby maiora's (call that a minora ba tm tsk) fucking audacity? hubris? confident wrongness? kid couldn't even remember to finish the comics in the first place? INCREDIBLE levels of unearned self assurance, wish that were me, genuinely- what an icon!!! anyway i think i have forever cursed myself

I watched Avengers: Age of Ultron (apart from I skipped some overly long action sequences) and I am not sure so can someone tell me whether or not Tony Stark was the baddy in that film? Because about halfway through I was sure he was but then it was maybe just an evil robot after all and I am confused because either this film was surprisingly subversive or it was about robots hitting each other.

I think you’re talking about these posts [here & here], I don’t know if there have been others.

I'm not gonna say what I did was right, you are correct I should probably just not respond to asks getting me to talk about other people. I will say for these two posts those people had already blocked me I’m pretty sure, so it’s kinda hard to talk directly to them in that case. And I was not doing so anonymously and had not blocked them so I wasn’t hiding what I was saying. I did not follow them, I am not part of the innitor community, and not that that makes it right but I do think it is kinda different. Though you make a good point, perhaps we should stop this pattern of responding to asks about other blogs and such.

Still, the biggest thing to me I realized, back in elementary school when I first dealt with this, was that honestly all the time we talk about people behind their back. Talking about people when they aren’t always in the room is kinda just inevitable and part of socializing, however I think the important part is how you are talking about other people. It’s when you are insulting them, talking negatively about them to people they know, spreading false information and so on that it becomes not okay. Hopefully that makes sense.

In these cases I merely focused on the lore. I didn’t insult them or talk shit about them, as a person, as a blog or say their takes were stupid or they are stupid or speculate about their trauma or mental history. I just talked about reasons why I disagreed, or saw things differently and why we might see things differently. They were also not the only ones I saw to say similar things so I think in my mind I was making more of a general discussion, not trying to target them specifically. I didn’t post beyond that about them. But you are right, regardless it was probably not the right way to go about things.

But just to be clear, if I am a hypocrite it is not my intention. I haven’t vague blogged anyone or meant to vague reblog anyone. I think this week is pretty much the first time I’ve ever been not naming, passive aggressively talking about blogs, and even then I’m not trying to insult them, trying to cancel them. I’m just expressing that before you go off about how I’m stupid and unable to have a discussion about it, the very least you could’ve done was give me an opportunity to try.
