I have some THOUGHTS about "Hold Them Down"

So like we all know how that song goes Antinous wants to kill Telemachus to get access to Penelope, right? Right.

Facts.

But in the song it's acknowledged that Telemachus is away on a diplomatic mission, therefore away, leaving Penelope supposedly defenseless since he's supposedly the only thing standing in their way.

Why couldn't they bust into her room kool-aid man style while he was away? Like she's alone and Antinous & Co are just like

"Hmm, it's a shame we can't take advantage of this moment"

Like, idk if my brain is too "toxic yaoi" coded & just interprets the song as Antinous having some ✨️feelings✨️ about Telemachus and is choosing to ignore those feelings

Like literally trying to kill those feelings and bury them in the sea, then "wanting" to do horrible terrible awful things to Penelope to prove he's man enough because idk sexism & internalized homophobia

Bro is emphasizing that he will be the one to kill Telemachus. He will be the one to break him. This is something that only he must do. But with Penelope, there's the line "hold her down while we share her spoils." he's willing to share her. Is it perhaps because she isn't his true desire?

Like, sir, I'm pretty sure if you would have waited another 5 minutes, drink some self reflection juice, and just admit you don't actually want Penelope and want Telemachus instead
