“Y/N,“ Sam unhappily looks at you. He presses his lips into a thin line and narrows his eyes.

Sam Winchester never was a big fan of you, or rather your attitude.

“Samuel,” you give the hunter a wink. “What brings you here? I thought you never wanted to come back here.”

You just love to rile the tall hunter up.

“You know why I’m here!” 

“How shall I know what’s going on in your pretty head?” you batt your eyelashes. “I was minding my business when you stormed into my establishment, gun aimed and a wild look in your eyes.”

“You kidnapped my brother!”

“Oh, that,” you grin. “I did not kidnap your big brother. I borrowed him.” You correct. “He’s fine.”

“Where is my brother?” Sam raises his voice and unlocks his gun. “I will kill you if you don’t tell me where my brother is. I’ll count to ten.”

“One,” you giggle. “Two.”

“I’m not joking!” pressing the barrel of the gun into your chest Sam sneers. “Three.”

“Four, Samuel.” 

“Five.”

“Six.”

“Seven,” Sam looks around the bar, huffing as there is not a single customer. “Eight.”

“Nine, sweetheart.”

“SAMMY! There you are,” Dean walks out of the small kitchenette in the back of your bar. “You’ve missed all the fun. What took you so long?”

The elder brother buries a fork into the pie you bought for him, humming happily. “Dean?” Sam sighs deeply. “You are alright.”

“Y/N bought me pie,” Dean walks toward one of the bar stools to sit on the bar counter. “I love me some pie, sweetheart.”

“I know you do, Deanie.”

“She…and then,” securing his gun Sam grunts. “What did you mean with I took my time? You were just gone, Dean. I came back to the bunker, and you were gone. Baby was still at the garage, though.”

“Y/N drove me,” Dean shrugs. “She said that the monster she’s hunting attacks their victims while stealing their cars. I didn’t want to put Baby on the line.”

“You could’ve left a message! I was worried sick, Dean,” Sam grumbles. “You can’t just run off with that witch! She cannot be trusted!”

“Oh, come on, Samuel. You got all cozy with Rowena and call me a witch like I’m a bad guy. I only use my powers to kill the big bad guys wanting to feast on your cute ass.”

“Keep my ass out of this.”

“I bet you’d like me to peg your ass,” you smirk. “You always give me submissive vibes. Hmm…yeah. I got some nice toys.”

“Last warning, Y/N,” Dean watches you and Sam with amusement. He chuckles and turns his attention back toward the pie. “Dean, don’t you want to say something?”

“Keep me out of this. Y/N is a white witch and a hunter. If I don’t want to kill her, you should try to do the same.”

“Yeah, you better not anger me,” you lower your voice and point your index finger at Sam. “You don’t want me to use the spell I saved for you.”

“I’m not afraid of your spells,” Sam puffs his chest. “Do your worst.”

“Don’t tempt me, Samuel,” you take a step toward the hunter. “If I’m done with you, you’ll say: ‘Oh no that witch shrank my dick! Help me, Dean. But he won’t. Your dick will be a tiny wiener for the rest of your life.”

“You wouldn’t dare to put a spell on me, witch.”

“I will so put a spell on you and your dick,” Dean snickers behind his brother’s back. “What’s so funny, Dean?”

“You sound like a married couple in the middle of a fight. Just tell me when you get to the make up sex.”

“I didn’t know you’re into kinky shit, sweetheart,” Dean dips his head to glance at you. “What kind of gloves do you prefer?”

“I didn’t try to be helpful.”

“I got that,” Sam sarcastically says. “I’ll bring her to the dungeon and chain her up. I think Rowena and Castiel should check on her again. I don’t believe for a second that she’s a white witch.”

“Now you made it,” you turn around to walk toward the staircase. “I’ll put a spell on you right now!”

“WAIT! You won’t,” Sam runs after you, calling your name. “I’m warning you.”

“Young love, huh? I guess they will have loud make up sex again,” Dean looks at the half-eaten pie. “I know, sweetheart. We should go somewhere more private and enjoy each other’s company. I can’t have you listen to the noises they are going to make …”

Lmao was watching the fight scene between Luz and Belos in YBOS and the lines that stuck out to me were "okay, I'll play" and "go be a hero".

Because both are spoken with a bit of amusement and condescension, which is appropriate when you realise that, in Philips mind, his little genocide plot and especially the detour with the Clawthorne sisters in s1 really is a bit of a game to him. A game that's important to him, that he's determined to win, but a bit of a game nonetheless.

Like, he doesn't see any of the isle's inhabitants as people, he's framed the whole thing as a game to the collector to get them to help him, he's essentially been continuing his childhood game of witch hunters this whole time on a bigger scale, complete with a "Caleb" and everything.

And then the line "go, be a hero" is SOOO funny to me, because the reason he's so dismissive of Luz is because, in his mind, he's the hero of this story. No one else, not even the other human, him. He's painting Luz and naïve and delusional here for thinking she's doing any good WHEN THAT'S EXACTLY HOW HE THINKS. Get a load of this guy!!!

The Leviathans had proven tough, impossibly strong, and seemingly invulnerable to all their weapons. The only thing that seemed to slow them down was Matt’s witchcraft, something he had been pushing for weeks now but Dean stubbornly refused to hear it, and it had resulted in another confrontation between the two.

Facing away from Dean, Matt froze when he heard those words, the only indication he had even heard the man was the way his shoulders tensed up. Objects around the room began to shake as his emotions roiled within him, and the witch stated taking deep breaths to reign in his telekinesis. ‘it’s my job to protect you’ ‒ the words played over and over in his head before Matt spun around, his eyes sparkling like emeralds as he strode over to his father. “And what the fuck do you think my job is?!” He shouted, fists clenched at his sides as he fought to stay in control. “I am not some helpless kid anymore, Dean, it’s my job to look after you too. Someone has to!” Running his hands up and down his face, Matt took another breath and the tremors in his body and the room gradually subsided. When he next looked at the hunter, his face was pleading instead of angry, and Matt fought back the panic attack that had been starting in his chest. “You told Sam once that if he went and got himself killed, you’d have to be the one to bury him. Well what am I supposed to do if something happens to you? I’ve already had to stand back and watch you die once, I refuse to go through that again. I just- I can’t, okay? I can’t. You’ve protected me since I was a kid, and I love you for that. Just please, please, let me return the favor. I can do this.”

Also instead of girl on fire, Luz would have some ‘light’ related title.

“I will kill you!” Sam yells while chasing you around the bunker. They invited you to join them on a hunt (well, Dean invited you) and you decided to stay a little longer. You took the opportunity to grab a few books and talismans to try a few new spells. Much to Sam’s chagrin. 

The hunter still doesn’t trust you. Or so he likes to tell everyone. The truth is, he didn’t like how you eyed his brother when Dean emerged from the showers, only a towel hanging loose on his hips.

“Y/N, stop or I’ll shoot you!”

You giggle and run even faster; your prey is still tugged under your arm. “You can try, but you won’t succeed, Winchester. You’re too slow, Samuel!”

“Guys, can a man not enjoy the company of pie in silence nowadays!” Dean yells from the kitchen. He was about to feast on the pie you helped him bake and now, the moment of togetherness got ruined. 

“Sorry, Deano!” You call while running past the kitchen, his brother hot on your heels. You snicker, and speed up again to hide at the last place Sam will expect you to hide in. The dungeon.

“I mean it!” Dean points a fork at his brother as Sam tries to run past the kitchen to catch you. “If I hear or see you copulate with her again, you’re banned from the bunker for a week.”

“I didn’t do a thing with that woman,” Sam lies poorly. He glares at his brother, eyes dropping to the pie. “It’s rather you who’s all over her all the time. Y/N made the pie to increase your sexual appetite.”

“Dude, she’s obsessed with your dick, not mine,” Dean grumbles and turns his attention back toward his beloved pie. “Don’t listen to him sweetheart, he’s a jealous bitch. You’re everything I want.”

Sam shudders. “Just don’t do anything odd with the pie,” he says before turning to run after you. “We don’t need therapy only because you couldn’t stop yourself from banging the pie.”

Dean eyes the pie. He licks his lips and hums. “I’m telling you, man. If I could, I’d fuck the pie and be happy for the rest of my life. Pie makes you happy. Women can be…complicated.”

“Gross,” Sam comments and finally chases after you. You poke your head around the corner, waiting for Sam to catch up with you before running toward the next hideout. 

This is going to be fun…

The chase ended with you pressed up against the wall in the dungeon. Naked, except for a collar wrapped around your neck to remind you that he’s in charge of you, and your body.

“I knew the collar would look good around your neck,” Sam whispers in your ear. He’s pressing the full length of his body against yours, making sure you feel his strength. “You won’t use your powers inside the bunker. Not without my allowance.”

“Fuck you,” you dip your head to look at Sam. He smirks at your response. “I will use my powers whenever and wherever I want.”

“Try to use them now,” he nips at your earlobe, tugging at it. “Come on, try to use them with the collar around your neck. It will hurt like hell and knock you out. I will just fuck you while you’re out cold.”

You smirk now. “I knew you’re a sick bastard, Winchester.”

“Only because you make me sick,” he purrs and nuzzles your cheek. “I’m going to show you what happens when you steal my artifacts and books ever again.”

Sam holds you pinned to the wall with his upper body while his hands work his pants open. 

“What do you want to do?” You chuckle darkly, hoping he will punish you with his cock. “Do your worst, Winchester. You won’t break me.”

“I’ll break you so good.”

It’s too late for regrets now. He’s so hard it hurts not to feel you wrapped around him. Even if he doesn’t trust you, there is something about you drawing him in, like the moth to the flame.

So like we already know Toh makes fun of Harry potter in a ton of ways and subverts all of its tropes but I haven't seen anyone bring up the way Toh treats magic disability Vs the way HP treats magic disability.

Specifically thinking about the fact that squibs in HP can't use magic but their whole family can and instead of being allowed into school to learn potions, astronomy, beast keeping etc etc (literally any class except charms and defense against the dark arts really) they're ostrichisised from the whole wizarding community and presumably not given any education whatsoever, not even a Muggle one. And while yeah HP treats this as tragic it also doesn't pose this treatment as wrong or smth in need of change just 'oh the poor disables are born so sad and that sucks but oops what you gonna do'.

Vs the owl house where Luz is similarly magically disabled (she literally can't do magic according to boiling isles conventions). But instead of the show going whoops guess you were born unlucky shoulda had better genes, Luz learns a different way of doing magic and while the community is shocked by this they still accept this new form of magic and allow her into their society. Hunter also falls into this, he's born a powerless witch so instead he uses a staff and artificial magic until he gets a palisman. While toh acknowledges that the world is harder for people like Luz and Hunter it doesn't frame that as the end of the conversation and instead shows that just because you can't do things like other people can doesn't mean you can't find a new way that works for you that nobody has thought of before

I wonder if part of the reason for Flapjack’s death was to contrast how Hunter handled his own grief over a lost loved one, vs Philip’s response?

There’s the immediate reactions of pushing people away; Philip refuses the kindness of the locals in his search for Caleb and especially afterwards, tries to kill Evelyn, and rebukes his own brother in favor of holding onto bitterness.

Hunter becomes snappy, aggressive, and closed off after losing Flapjack; Like Philip, he devotes himself to a mission of finding a fellow Wittebane, and gets frustrated over any perceived frivolities and distractions.

But eventually, Hunter recognizes that while his trauma is valid, he’s also been pushing Willow away and placing a lot of burden on her as well. It’s okay that he was triggered by the Emerald Entrails photo instead of reassured, but part of Hunter and Willow’s resolution is the former clarifying that yes, her efforts to reach out do mean a lot to him. And Willow means a lot to Hunter too, that’s why he wants to reciprocate and accept, instead of causing her to feel just as ineffectual by refusing help; Willow deserves help too!

Not only that, but Philip and Hunter both created living beings as a coping mechanism, only for one to be unhealthy, while the other actually recovered. Philip is obsessed with creating perfect replicas of Caleb, casting out Grimwalkers for being too different from the mold, not good enough, and keeping them all to himself; The Grimwalkers aren’t allowed their own lives nor any other relationships.

Hunter makes palismen for others, he’s giving people the companionship he himself lost, and he isn’t designing anything after Flapjack, not necessarily; Just whatever a witch needs. Even his personal palisman, Waffles, is visually different while still hearkening to Flapjack, because Hunter is a Clawthorne after all; He can move on and be himself while also honoring his connections with others, and not become unhealthily dependent or averse to them.

Hunter made Waffles and thus must’ve chosen these differences, or carved an egg like Luz did, so his palisman could choose a form. I find that wonderfully ironic, for while Hunter has more control over how his creations turn out, he doesn’t abuse this to create a replica of Flapjack; He enables and encourages variation instead, while Philip gambles to make each Grimwalker closer to the original, eliminating any deviations as if that will alter the odds.

One uses control to give to others, the other has no control and desperately wants it over others. Philip grows and Hunter whittles away, but it’s Hunter who proves more nurturing and free. Both used palistrom wood, but Hunter’s coping mechanism encourages its growth, while Philip hoards and even devours it.

Hunter surpasses his uncle by suffering in similar ways, only to show that you can still recover without hurting others; Philip really does have no excuse, for Hunter is an example of the person he easily could and should’ve been in response to loss. Philip tried to spread his pain by repeating it in others, he killed Flapjack (and projected onto Luz, as if to absolve himself by claiming she should do the same, since anyone else would’ve); But Hunter looked his uncle in the eye and said No, I will not be a vector for your bitterness.

In all the excitement over the HD Hollow Mind paintings getting released, and in the resulting discussion and theorizing of the Wittebane story, I haven’t seen anyone bring up something that is potentially a HUGE part of the puzzle. Which makes sense, because it only appears for a split second in Yesterday’s Lie:

Hopkins shows this picture, says “disaster struck”, and then tells us a bit about the Wittebane brothers, namely that they met a witch and were lured into another world.

There are two options here.

1) The meetinghouse caught fire and started the witch hunt that we see in the HM paintings. The same one that ended with this:

…and it’s entirely possible that Evelyn is the one who blew up the meetinghouse. Why? *shrugs* The witch hunters pissed her off? In any case, that sequence of events would track what Hopkins said (meetinghouse catches fire, witch hunt is called, Caleb and Philip are separated from the pack, and they find Evelyn).

But if this sequence of events is slightly off? He says exactly this:

We know that Caleb was sneaking around with Evelyn for a while before he left. Look at Philip’s hair here vs his hair in the above painting. Time has definitely passed. He even has his ponytail and adult hair noodle.

Further evidence that time has passed? Masha says “they used codes to travel between worlds.” Which I take to mean that the lovebirds traveled back and forth a bunch.

This is where theory two comes in.

Hopkins said the brothers were lured into the BI. We know Caleb left with Evelyn first, and some time later Philip followed them. We don’t know the exact details, but keeping in mind that the fire could have happened at any point before the “luring” (ie Caleb leaving)…

What if this is our scenario instead:

2) Caleb got caught hanging out with a witch, and was arrested. Evelyn blew up the meetinghouse to save him, spiriting him away in front of the whole town. We know what happens next.

And here’s the kicker: in that new painting, we see Philip watching his brother leave through the portal all happy and carefree.

This seems like just one of many trips. Caleb might or might not know Philip is there. But in any case, it is probably not what Caleb expects to be his last trip. He doesn’t have any possessions with him. He’s not under any sort of duress. And unless he was a MASSIVE jerk, he does not seem to be concerned that he is leaving his little brother forever.

But. What if this is an important memory because it’s the memory of Philip finally catching Caleb in the act?

What if this is the moment that led to Caleb getting caught (perhaps the next day when he returned home), setting into motion the events that required a rescue from his cell in the meetinghouse and for him to escape to the BI permanently?

I mean…what if Philip rattted out Caleb?
