was debating whether or not to buy a book of feminist essays earlier today and i flipped on a random page and the first words i saw were 'Peeta' and 'Hunger Games' and so i took that as a sign and bought it

Ok I’ve loved all your art and appreciate you sharing it with us but I saw your reblog of the cave scene from 2023 (?) and scrolled and saw the comic of the Mellarks from this year and omg your art has improved a ton!! Like shading, color, all that stuff I don’t know too much about bc I’m not an artist. And I just thought you deserve the shout out. Super cool to see. 💖

Hi! oh wow thank you so much!! Y'kno I actually had a complete meltdown before that, because I kept trying to draw Katniss for a character reference sheet but it kept looking so so so bad and i just broke down because drawing is like my only 'skill' (and probably other life stresses didn't help). So I spent a few months trying going back to the basics and taking a break and idk maybe that kind of helped??? So it's nice to hear there's some discernable difference in the before and after hahah!!!!!

I catch a glimpse of myself on the television screen on the wall that’s airing my arrival live and feel gratified that I appear almost bored. Peeta Mellark, on the other hand, has obviously been crying and interestingly enough does not seem to be trying to cover it up. I immediately wonder if this will be his strategy in the Games. To appear weak and frightened, to reassure the other tributes that he is no competition at all, and then come out fighting. - "You know what my mother said to me when she came to say good-bye, as if to cheer me up, she says maybe District Twelve will finally have a winner. Then I realized, she didn’t mean me, she meant you!” bursts out Peeta. “Oh, she meant you,” I say with a wave of dismissal. “She said, ‘She’s a survivor, that one.’ She is,” says Peeta.
