Since I've got Human Halbrand AUs bouncing around my head (who knows if they'll ever come to anything, though), I'm curious to know: what sort of Human Halbrand do other folks like? Halbrand who is indeed the lost King of the Southlands, or Halbrand who is just a Regular Middle-earth Dude?

I know back during series 1, my favourite theory when I was choosing not to see all those screaming scarlet flags was what I call the Road to El Dorado plot: a ne'er-do-well who is mistaken for something rather more noble than what he is, who initially goes along with the con for his own advantage, but then ends up truly growing into the role.

From the ROP fandom, I see frequent comments about how people were in denial about Halbrand being Sauron. I'm curious why.

Listen, knowing what we know now, I would watch a bunch of one shot episodes of human halbrand doing stupid human things.

Everyone else can go about their plot driving business.

Counter that, just Galadriel foiling all of his plans over and over again and they get more ridiculous as time goes on.

In her lap, kissing her, hands on her breasts - Because it is something new and different. Not that she would kick the king out of bed, either, she catches herself thinking too late, and then she has to go and get a pitcher of water and splash some on her face before returning to the garden."

fixing(?) Rings of Power in 2 episodes

i think they should have pulled a full bait and switch. they wanted to subvert expectations, so do it. here's my idea: 

 have everything be the same, up until the last few episodes. 

 halbrand is getting sicker, it like he's stabbed by a morgul blade, he's falling into the wraith world. nothing helps until Elrond shows, calling back to the fellowship where he saves frodo from becoming a wraith. 

elrond spends a whole episode saving the southman. yet, as he's treating an ailing halbrand, he realises something. 

 halbrand's condition worses whenever galadriel comes to visit him. 

 we see as it dawns on him, with sheer horror, though he doesn't say a word. 

he rushes to celebrimbor, but it's too late. his fears are confirmed on the worst way possible. the smith , with his last breath, gives elrond the three elven rings, the ones not under sauron's full donimon. 

 we see a nightmare sequence from the comatose halbrand, alive but fight desperately against the darkness. he is confronted by galadriel, at first he is relieved to see a familiar face, but his relief soon turns to fear as he sees the fiery hatred in her eyes. he refuses to be a puppet, and we get some good ol fashion on screen torture. cool effect for the galadriel - sauron transition. halbrand’s will starts to break down.   

 we see galadriel in armour and a cloak leave eregion in a hurry, there's blood on her hands, passing another woman as she does. 

this woman is also hooded and cloaked, but instead of armour she wears a gown of starlight. she carries no sword, for she has no need of it. 

 the woman enters the healing rooms and meets elrond who, with broken eyes and tears, asks if it's really her. 

the woman laughs softly, she removes her hood. her hair is as bright as the sun, streaked with silver. shining like the trees of old. 

she holds a hand over halbrand, he's sweating and his face is twisted in agony. switch back to halbrand's nightmare/mindscape. he's in total despair. we see him have to watch as his family is brutally killed in front of him. 

he's broken, he's losing his fight. but just as he's about to give into darkness, to relinquish his life for an end to the pain, he hears singing. it's soft at first, but it grows in volume. a man and a woman, singing in harmony. the words are not in sindarin, but quenya. a woman's form, bathed in pure light, appears in front of the kneeling man, she offers him her hand. he takes it, rejecting the darkness. 

 halbrand's eyes snap open, he's gasping and coughing, but alive and in the seen world. elrond is standing to the left at the bedside, he looks exhausted and drained, but is smiling. 

halbrand looks to the right and sees the woman. his eyes widen. she smiles, taking his hand in hers. 

 "Aiya, Maethor," she says, he voice is so kind and gentle. "I am Galadriel of the Noldor." 

just use the actual villain you wrote.

Listen, one will corrupt, two will divide but three? For the good of the world, Celeborn MUST complete the throuple. Next season will be Sauron falling for him too.

You got anything more interesting to say about me? Galadriel: You’re… [sighing in frustration] …kinda hot. Human Halbrand: Galadriel: Galadriel and Human Halbrand: [start making out violently]
