The vision I have for my The Hidden World rewrite includes bunch of character redesigns - some have minor changes and some are completly reworked. Anyways, one idea for Hiccup and Valka's casual outfits is for them to split Stoick's fur cape. Hiccup wears his half on his right shoulder, while Valka has hers maybe over her waist? I'm not completly certain, though I do know I want it anywhere other than her shoulders. Them not matching would serve as a slight hint to Valka trying to readjust to her old life, but still not being able to really have a strong bond to her son and tribe.

so i know that when people say night furies are the unholy offspring of lightning and death, theyre probably referring either to the force of nature/abstract concept or simply making a powerful metaphor - but it would be interesting to think about dragons as the offspring of gods, and in this case toothless would be the offspring of thor and hel

i think it would be cool if each dragon species had an associated god or godly pairing that they were fabled to originate from (if not literally then symbolically)

im also playing around with ideas of people who still hate dragons seeing them being as descendants of nidhogg and therefore being agents of chaos that must be eradicated. im also considering jormungand but idk if he's as strongly associated with chaos and i want to focus on the order vs chaos thing pretty strongly

thinking about drawing links for fafnir too? idk

need to brush up on my norse mythology

but i was already thinking about how to include religion in my thw rewrite and it would be fun to compare how the protagonists use their religious rites for celebration and to inspire hope while the antagonists use it to justify conquest of people and dragons

Httyd Nine Realms Rewrite au; Elding's Family

In the Rewrite au, it's basically a tie in to a rewrite of Httyd 3, where pretty much everything changes, including the fact that Toothless is the last one, cause he isn't in the rewrite. The Httyd 3 rewrite has a change where after a good amount of the Night fury species gets killed by Grimmel, the rest go into the 'Hidden world' which in the rewrite, is a giant hollowed mountain where the only entrance is through the water, like a beaver den.

The Hidden world is only home to Night furies and Light furies, who at this point, have merged together and created a symbiotic relationship. Toothless follows the Light fury into the nest, and sees Night furies and Light furies living together, even encountering a baby Nightlight.

The Rewritten version of the Httyd 3 movie ends with the former leader of the Night fury/Light fury pack dying to Grimmel, and Toothless becoming their leader. Hiccup and Toothless still have their goodby, but not all of the dragons cram into the hidden world, they just all go into separate places to hide away, and Toothless goes with his pack into the Hidden world in order to keep the endangered species safe.

Oops, my hand slipped and I ended up getting an idea for another AU. I tried to keep the Light Fury’s design a little closer to the canon this time, but still with a few minor changes. She’s based on one of the concept drawings in the art book. Her build is more like a Night Fury’s, her ears aren’t short and round, her wings are sharp instead of having rounded edges. She still has smooth scales (in this AU her smooth scales are directly linked to her ability to cloak. This also means that Toothless does not share that same ability), but her scales are no longer sparkly. She’s also just solid white, with perhaps some hints of grey in some areas. No blue underbelly and no pink eyeshadow.

In this AU the Light Fury is actually Grimmel’s dragon rather than being wild. He killed her entire flock when she was a hatchling and was originally going to kill her too, but instead made the decision to raise her to help him kill the remaining Furies. Her job is to lure in Furies and lead them to Grimmel, where he ambushes them with his Deathgrippers and kills them.

Grimmel attempts to use her to lure in Toothless as well, but things don’t go as planned when she starts to develop a close attachment to the Night Fury.

Wow! Just cracked into the 1k club. Absolutely delighted with the number of positive comments, kudos, bookmarks, etc. in response to this fic. 😊 I'd been meaning to write this for several months but kept telling myself not to bother because no one would care, or the fandom had moved on, or whatever. But then I realized it didn't matter--I wanted to give Hiccup and Toothless a good, happy ending, and at the end of the day, that's all the justification I needed to start drafting. Summary:

One year after Hiccup has become Chief of Berk, he finds himself confronted by both the past and the future. Back at home, Hiccup and Toothless grapple with their destinies as leaders and the singular question: how far will they go to see peace in their lives?

The Matriarch

Night furies are dragon eaters who hunt under cover of darkness or in storms. They live in family unit pods that are led by a singular dragon. This dragon here is the matriarch of her pod and also Toothless’ mother.

She only has sight in one eye, when she was a young dragon she ended up in a situation similar to Toothless. However for her, rather than bonding with the boy who captured her, he did try to kill her. This has led her to have great mistrust of people.

She takes great pride in her ability to take down other dragons with or without the help of her pod.

Though she was harsh on her son, she misses him greatly and hopes that one day he will find the pod again.

It's been suggested, due to the hormone effect on muscle and bone growth, that this is the early stage of what the Nordic artifact describes as a " Titan wing". However, further data is required

Animation draft for a small AU. Actually it's a pretty common AU(runaway). But this one is a bit different in the fact that that our favorite night fury and his human meet a female along the way. This is still a WIP so the dragons look a bit....strange

Went and tried to write down some notes for a very rough concept of a httyd 3 rewrite that I've been playing around in my head lately. I don't think I'm gonna do anything like a fanfic or something because (as you can clearly see) I don't have the writing abilities nor motivation to make full projects like this, but I thought I'd share anyway. I will probably do some updates for this tho.

The choices regarding the warlords are most likely not really clear, but I wasn't satisfied with what I came up so I'm reworking it.

I imagine this is the Berserkers/Defender royal family arriving in Berk for The Thing

Heather and Dagur are clearly excited...they they to see Astrid and Hiccup 😏

Rainier (14 - 15yo) is significantly less excited. He does not want to be there (doesn't want to be around the other kids), but it's his responsibility to shadow his parents and learn from them - especially as the heir to both the Berserkers and Defenders. He takes his duties seriously, so he's there begrudgingly. He'd much rather be at home, sparring with Throk. (He probably wishes Throk were his father tbh)

He really wants to impress his mother, who is not the most physically affectionate, but her approval means the world to him. He has his father's approval (and very clear affection), but as he gets older and learns more about his father's past, that means less and less to him.

Rainier is a mix of the most important adults in his life: like Heather when she was his age, he's defensive and has a hard time getting close to people. His aunt is also pretty much his only friend. He looks his father and has his anger issues - though if anyone pointed out the similarities between them, he'd draw a sword on them. He strives to be like his mother and values his responsibilities very strongly. He even dresses like his mom and moves and speaks like her - as if that can somehow make him less like the father he so clearly resembles.

Dagur and Mala have grown apart over the years, partially because of the growing rift between Dagur and Rainier (and the thing with his eye. it's a long story). They love each other but aren't really in love (or rather, Dagur is in love - or at least wants to be - and Mala isn't). They try not to argue and end up speaking very little instead of risking a fight. Heather ends up being the go-between to make sure everyone is okay. She feels like she spends all her time taking care of others while they rarely remember to make sure she's alright.

They arrrrre falling apart at the seams. I can't wait to write their scenes. I love them so much.

Fury Facts

(Note that these are canon specifically for my AU. Some of these aren’t even headcanons I have for the official canon.)

- The most common eye colors found in Night Furies are green, yellow, and orange. For Light Furies it’s blue and teal.

- Furies can live up to 50-70 years.

- Furies retract their teeth as a way of showing other Furies they’re not a threat. It’s seen as a sign of submission. They also retract their teeth so they can safely carry their hatchlings without hurting them.

- Furies can survive completely solitary and it’s not uncommon to see one by itself, but it’s also not unheard of for them to form packs. These flocks are often led by an alpha male and an alpha female.

- Since Furies mate for life, they are often very particular about who they choose for a partner. It can take years after they’ve fully matured before they finally settle on a mate. Fury pairs only breed once a year and can have up to four eggs at most, though three is the most common.

- Light Furies are the closest living relative to Night Furies and vice versa. Sand Wraiths are distantly related to both species and while they share some similarities in appearance, Sand Wraiths aren’t considered a Fury species.

- Furies develop small nubs on the underside of their jaw to indicate their age (which we see with Toothless starting with the second movie). Female Furies develop these nubs at a much later age compared to males. The nubs also grow in smaller and females don’t develop as many.

Rewriting httyd 3 with my friend

So in the third movie they say night furies don’t like the cold

And in the first movie Hiccup describes berk as very cold so it would make more sense if night furies lives closer to the equator

So the movie would start with hiccup and the gang rescuing dragons like in the original third movie but they overhear the trappers talking about going south to get rare dragons

They decide to get there first and as they are flying over an island they see something black running around so they land

They find a night fury and there would be a parallel to the first movie when hiccup first freed toothless and toothless roared in hiccups face

Toothless would jump at the night fury and they would start fighting until the gang realizes they are surrounded by night furies

That’s all we came up with for plot but we did come up with light fury ideas

They would still be very sleek like in the original but they would look a little more like night furies and they would be a light blue or white to blend in with the sky

They hunt by standing in front of the sun so their prey won’t see them and then they dove down and grab them light furies rarely use a plasma blast

Night furies can’t camouflage or use lightning they only have a charged up plasma blast then where spines turn blue and they get this when they get to a certain age like toothless

Light furies can camouflage and the two dragons are constantly fighting for food

The light fury’s introduction would be similar to Toothless’s intro in the first movie

The gang would be standing there and all the sudden there is a plasma blast near them but it’s broad daylight and there isn’t a night fury in sight

A while later they find out what shot at them when they run into a light fury for the first time

We also had a few ideas of night fury variants that adapted to living in extreme environments like in an active volcano, deep in the ocean, and high up in the cliffs

We also have a feral hiccup story but that’s for another day

So. Anyways, this rewrite completely redoes most of season five and six of rtte and has to go through httyd 2 as well… it isn’t just a rewrite of thw, which is getting an overhaul COMPLETELY. it is not going to be anywhere near the same plot as the original. Without giving too many details, the entire rewrite is going to be split up into several parts, and is told completely from Krogan’s pov.

Sigrùn pops up later towards the end of season six for the first time though,
