I want you to remember:
The fascists hate you too and they just will pretend otherwise until after they've killed the rest of us, before they turn on you.

Just finished Silo season 2. I would say it was pretty mid. Definitely felt like a 'housekeeping' season where its just setting things up. I have listened to the audio books though so that's were a lot of my thoughts come from.
Book and show spoilers
- I was really hoping the first episode would have revealed Silo 1, I feel like that would have been such a good hook and allow us to look at Bernard as something other than villian who wants control.
Like the dude is freaking the fuck out lol everyone might die if he can't stop a rebellion
- I did not like the meadows side plot. It felt overly long and like it didn't add anything, could have cut it and brought Lukas in right away imo
- I also did not like that Lukas was able to walk around while being the it shadow, dude was kept locked up for a while there. I do understand why they had him go find the pipe though, I imagine that is how they will connect Silo 17 and 18. I imagine they don't have the budget to use the giant ass drill lmao
- I hated what they did to Solo and Juliet though, like she is being such a bitch to him when she actually is supposed to like him! I'm also not a huge fan of how they kept her from having contact with 18 and 1 and I hope they don't keep her in the dark about Silo 1 next season or I will scream.
- overall I just felt this season was very slow and they could have paced it differently, like I was screaming in frustration when Jules was under the water and they kept flipping back to her for 2 seconds and then going back to Silo 18 for the entire episode.
- I was so frustrated with how slow this season was that I was convinced they were gonna do another season based on the first book so when we got a flashback at the end I screamed I was so happy, I thought all they were gonna do was introduce Silo 1!
- I also loved all the foreshadowing in the bar about the kinda political/American climate that leads to the states nano bot nuking the world.
- I agree with the change too to make Helen end up in Silo 18 judging by her having the pez dispenser. I was surprised she wasn't there in the book tbh
Those are my general thoughts, im excited for next season and I am super excited to see what they are going to do with Donald/Troy and if they will let it be known right away that they are the same or if they will try and hide it like the book.
- i also really like walker in the show. I also like that they got rid of the little girl in 17, I always thought she was boring and I think in the show she would become annoying. Sheriff billings is another addition i like. I just think he's neat.
The only thing I hope the show does better, is remembering that the Silo is fucking huge and you can't just walk up and down it in a day. It takes multiple days ffs

Oh what's that? You only read books with lots of "spice" in them? Well then I've got a great one for you, practically the whole plot revolves around "spice". Ahem. In the week before the departure to Arrakis,

“tik tok is brainrot I’m glad it’s getting deleted” YOU are ignoring an early warning sign of fascism bc silly dances and asmr annoys u. tik tok ban is a part of a MUCH bigger bill that indicates any foreign app, if deemed a threat, can be banned if the owner does not sell it. aka the government is mad bc they cannot censor & their capitalist puppet masters are mad they aren’t making money from it. and if ur ok w that……hm

My brother in law recently became a veterinarian and it has really driven the point home as to how fucking bonkers veterinary medicine is. We don't expect human physicians to really know much outside of their own specialty - a dentist, an otolaryngologist, and a maxillofacial surgeon are three totally different dudes. Meanwhile a veterinarian at a wildlife rehab center is doing orthopedic surgery on a hawk and then doing rounds on baby hedgehogs in the hedgehog NICU and administering antibiotics to a ratsnake. And he also knows how to perform surgical interventions on a cow! What the fuck! Those are all totally, wildly different kinds of animal!!
Shout out to veterinarians, they know Too Much.
