Ahhghhh Scorchmaws my beloveds (and hello Deathgripper anon)

Be prepared for an essay under the read more-

Scorchmaws live in matriarchal packs, which are called flares, and the oldest female takes the reign over all others within the flare. The oldest female is reffered to as The Mother most commonly, but she doesn't have to be the biological mother to all the Scorchmaws in the flare. These flares can vary in numbers but most stay around 6-10 Scorchmaws.

They can vary in size but the grow to between Monstrous Nightmare and Stormcutter sizes normally. They have large, powerful wings that are specially adapted for climbing/walking, so you will often find their nests high up. Despite not walking on their front arms, they do still have them, though they're much smaller and moreso made for last effort attacks.

Scorchmaw saliva is incredibly flammable, and they produce a significant amount of it. It basically equates to literal liquid fire. (Hence the name Scorchmaw) They can also shoot huge plumes of fire, but don't do so often as their shot limit is extremely low (2-4 shots) and it takes a significant amount of time to rechange. Up to a week, in fact.

Because of their constant proximity for heat/fire, they are almost completely fire-proof both inside and out. With the exception of their deeper internal organs of course.

Scorchmaws are big dragons, huge even, and because of this they need an immense amount of food. Dragons. That's right, Scorchmaw's main diet consist almost entirely of dragons. Their specialized talons, flammable saliva and above average tracking skill makes it quite easy to hunt down and eat dragons. And they're not picky. As long as it moves, it's food. They do also eat deer, boar, bird, and rodents if they can catch them. On occasion they will eat berries, herbs, and grain, but they will only ever eat those when desperate.

And that concludes my info dump about Scorchmaws :D I am currently working on some sheets for them but idk how long those are gonna take-

Ah, welcome back deathgripper anon! And yes, both of those are spelled correctly don't worry :D

Ronan is- well I guess technically he is a dragon rider, similar to how Chervil and Krogan are with their dragons (I should clarify, in my headcanons both of them love their dragons very much and treat them very well, but aren't sided with the dragon riders) His full name is Ronan Maelson and he is between 32-34 (haven't really decided yet) and is quite tall. (6'7" to be exact) (He's a big boy)

He's first introduced to the riders in an altered Maces and Talons part 2, but he is introduced to the readers way before that, not how I think you'll expect. His relationship with other characters definitely varies depending on place in the timeline, but for his first appearance in Maces and Talons part 2 he feels like this about these characters; Viggo, no particular hatred or anger towards him, except when Viggo threatened to kill him- Ryker, resents him for not stopping something that I won't get into yet because spoilers for the fic. Dagur, hates him with every fiber of his being, again for plot reasons I won't get into yet. Heather, only met her once at this point so he doesn't really mind her. The riders, again, only ever met Hiccup at this point so not really anything in particular.

Ronan rides a pack of Scorchmaws, which are a fandragon of mine, but I'll probably talk about them some other time.

Ronan is much more capable than the riders at surviving in the wild (he did so with no human contact for 15-18 years-) but is most likely not nearly as good with a sword and shield. Despite this, he's quite proficient with a bow and arrow, and uses them to hunt.

But yeah, Ronan is planned to have at least 2 fics currently in the works (help me i have so many unfinished fics-)

Tell us about your OC Chervil!! (How do they fit into the httyd world and in turn interact with Krogan??)

Ok ok ok, I have been waiting for this ask hehehe >:)

This is gonna be a ride so buckle up

So her full name is Chervil Blackmoor and she's higher up in the ranks of the Northern Alliance, probably similar to where Krogan would have been but the two have never met before. She is first introduced probably at the end of season 5 in the tent where Johann is revealed to be a traitor.

Krogan is not bothered by her at first, he doesn't know she is from The Northern Alliance. Viggo and Ronan (another OC that I'll probably talk about at some point) are put off by her however. Viggo thinks she's just another self righteous recruit that will just be a thorn in their operations. Ronan flat out doesn't like her, but he isn't really able to tell why until later.

Krogan and Chervil don't really get along until it's reveal that she is a part of The Northern Alliance. She was sent more as a convoy from Drago to Johann so Drago could get another king of dragons faster.

Chervil is like, 5'11" and is between 17-19, so younger than the riders but much more capable at combat/survival skills. She rides a singetail named Sigrün. Sigrün is a daughter of Krogan's singetail. (I'm totally not foreshadowing anything nooo-) (All I will say is like dragon like rider)

I don't want to reveal too much in regards to plotline/backstory and all that good stuff because I do have like- 5 fics (and art) planned for her-

So uh yeah, Chervil is awesome and I love her (and all my other OCs) sooo much :3

Like, the forelimbs/tail/tusks of a Deathgripper paired with the patterns/amber/size of a deathsong would be amazing.

Hmmmm, well I'd say that the monstrous nightmare has an extreme advantage, with it being MUCH larger than the skrill and still able to breathe fire despite not being able to light itself ablaze. While the skrill has lost it's main attack, which is lightning.

So I'd have to say monstrous nightmare wins this one

Anyways, uhh where to begin?

Krogan has not always been my favorite, especially when I was much younger watching the show, but as I've been hit by the train that is the HTTYD obsession he had really grown on me.

I really enjoy the dynamics he has with other characters (especially my oc Chervil, but I don't want to talk about her, at least in this answer) and the role he plays in the show. A mysterious soldier sent from a buyer in the north? Uh, I think YES

And the relationship/dynamic he has with Drago is definitely intriguing, and I can say quite confidently that he did not want to be there in the slightest.

If I'm being honest I've thought about this question of why do I like him so much it really just boils down to I think he's really cool and neat and THE PLOT OPPORTUNITIES MY LORD MMMMM SO MANY (especially now that I've introduced Chervil to my AU)

(I also may or may not be planning/working on something for the two of them shhhh 🤫)

But yeah, despite all the hate he gets I feel like they should have developed him more, which is why I exist [side eyes my several google docs fics with my muses in them]
