Playing Dark Revival for the first time myself has been such a fun experience and all, but I'm still so sad with the ink demon design. It's a fun game, and worth the wait, and I'm glad I'm finally playing it for myself, but oh my GOD it really is lacking in so much charm that the first game had.......

I've read hundreds of Star Trek TOS fics by now and it never ceases to amuse me how many different ways there are to fuck up Spock's characterization...now hold on just a minute - this post has a more interesting point than “fanfic writers stupid”, I promise you.

Every time, it's a spin on the massacre wheel. It's kind of amazing. Will he be overly emotional to the point where he's not himself anymore? Will he be so cold it's unpleasant and kind of hard to understand how he's lived to this point? Will he be extremely horny for no good reason? Will he speak in a way that sounds complety wrong?

I chuckle and shake my head. Of course, I KNOW what Spock is like, and MY interpretation of him is the most perfect and correct one. Obviously. He's just a very nuanced character, formed by many people in an unconventional way, with traits that seem to contradict each other at first but ultimately form a rich and unique character that so many people fell in love with specifically because he's so complicated...

Or...is he?

Let's entertain the idea that there isn't one correct interpretation of Spock, that all of these messy bits of characterization are not part of a bigger picture, but...just what they are: a product of many people with starkly different visions, working on a show that refuses to properly develop its characters. What then? Well, then Spock is a Rorschach test. Each viewer connects the random dots in their own way, and ignores the ones they don't like.

Let's use an example: me! In my interpretation of Spock (the most correct one, of course) he is, first of all, gay and on the asexual spectrum, reserved, largely uninterested in casual flirting or sex. When he is interested in the aforementioned things, he tends to be quite ashamed of it.

Makes sense, right? I can show you plenty of evidence for why that could be true. However, in the beginning of the first bloody season, Uhura sings a song about how Spock is actually kind of a heartthrob who likes to drive women insane with how hot he is, and Spock smiles. He smiles at her, as if agreeing and being very amused by all this! This interaction goes against pretty much everything I think about Spock. So what do I do? I explain it away in the most bizzare fucking way possible. See, Uhura and Spock are friends (there is no evidence for this), and Uhura knows everything I've just told you about him (through telepathy I guess? Not like he'd ever tell her!) and she's just trolling him (why would she do that? That is NOTHING like Uhura!). I need to do some Olympics-level mental gymnastics here, the opposite of Occam's razor.

“But Danny,” I hear you say, “it's just the start of the show! They hadn't figured out his character yet!”

To which I say: you can say that about anything! You can blame it all on a bad writer for that episode, and ignore virtually any scene that doesn't jive with your headcanons. It's there, and I can't ignore it.

So...how am I different from the people that want Spock to be thar heartthrob Uhura is singing about? That evidence is as much a part of canon as my favorite lines. Well, I'm not any different, that's the thing. And all those writers I complained about also have a point.

It's kind of a nihilistic take, I know, but maybe the reason Spock is such a cultural icon is because he is...whatever you want him to be: just concrete enough to spur on your imagination, yet vague and contradictory enough to let your brain fill in the gaps.

Don't get me wrong: I absolutely do not believe in this. In my mind, it just so happens that I'm one of the, like, 5 people ever who truly understood Spock (and one of them is Jim Kirk himself). But I still think it's something worth thinking about next time you're mad at a fic.

If Y/N L/N was asked who she most hated in the entire world, she would answer with Matt Press in a heartbeat. Where to even start with him? Some would say he's a dick others would be straight up and label him a sociopath. Conventionally, he was attractive, tall, had dark hair and always had this mysterious glint in his eye, that's what caused the girl to dislike him even more.

"Halloween, the one night of the year when a girl can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it," the iconic words of Cady Heron projected from the small tv in Diana's bedroom.

Tonight the two girls were headed to a Halloween party thrown by some kids in the year below, it was in this boy, Brodie's, basement. The pair were invited by a close friend of his called Abby Littman, Y/N didn't know her that well but Diana had known her since she was one year old.

"So what are you being?" Y/N asked the ginger girl sitting on the floor across from her.

She groaned and made a break for the kitchen.

"So Y/N, you do realise that you're meant to dress up as something for Halloween?" He laughed as she grabbed a bottle of vodka.

"Matt, you do realise that being a dick doesn't need to be your only personality trait?" The girl spat back, filling up her cup with vodka, and adding almost equal part lemonade.

"Woah, you have enough lemonade for your vodka?" Press asked taking the bottle off of her as she attempted to add even more into her cup.

Y/N smiled, "aren't you so cute caring about me," her smile dropped, "now fuck off and play with your little toy, she's waiting for you!"

He grunted in annoyance before walking off with a beer.

"It's shot o'clock!" Abby's voice rang through the small basement. All of the drunken teenagers gathered around the table tennis table and started to pound on it.

A chant of "Tiny sips, tiny flips!" bounced around the walls of the basement as Abby walked around pouring everyone a shot, Y/N stood oppisite Norah, a girl she knew fairly well.

When it came to her and Norah's turn Norah sent Y/N a quick smile before they both grabbed their shots and downed them, they tried to flip their cups, both messing up and sending the cups flying.

"Better luck next time sweet cheeks!" Press cackled his arm hooked around Samantha. Y/N sent the boy a middle finger, causing Diana to burst out laughing from behind her.

"Holy shit Di! You scared me!" Y/N drunkenly chuckled, embracing her friend. The pair walking off, "let's get more shots."

"You know how glad I am to have picked you to be friends with!" Diana commented, stumbling over to the kitchen, Y/N on her arm.

The girls grabbed a bottle of tequila rose and two shot glasses, pouring shots and linking arms, downing them.

"I could drink this all day!" Diana dreamily exclaimed.

"We can!" Y/N cheered, taking the bottle by the neck and pouring some of it down her throat.

Diana snatched the bottle drinking it wistfully slipping to the floor, Y/N joining her. Despite the partygoers coming and going from the kitchen, no one really paid much attention to the two girls tanning the bottle of creamy alcohol.

"Shit it's done," Y/N whined, sliding herself to lie down on the cold floor.

"Oh my, what have I walked in on?" The dreaded man said as he entered the kitchen.

"Oh Matty, be a doll and pass me down one of the vodkas," the intoxicated version of Y/N slurred.

"Absolutely not, get up!" He commanded reaching for Diana's hand, who gratefully took it and stumbled to a stool. Press then went to grab Y/N and haul her to her feet.

"Don't touch me, Matt Press!" She screamed.

"Come on Y/N, work with me, " he muttered, watching the girl submit and grab onto him. "There you go," he softly whispered as she reached her feet.

Matt turned to leave and Y/N went to sit next to Diana, "I wish he wasn't such a cunt," she stated, making Diana whip he head around.

"Y/N! Oh my god!" She screamed, and then they smelt it, the weed-infused aroma of a bong, "I think I know what time it is, do you know what time it is?"

"Bong time baby!" Y/N yelled, grabbing Diana's arm and stumbling towards the couch, "pass the bong sophomore!"

Y/N lit the end of it inhaling a big draw and passing it to Diana, Y/N reached over to Press and blew the cloud of smoke straight into his face, "oh you want to play that game huh?" He smirked, clutching her by the hips and pulling her onto the couch. "Hand it over Diana!"

Press took the bong and inhaled, grabbing Y/N's draw roughly and connecting their lips, the smoke travelled into her mouth. "Press! You animal!" Jordan shouted.

Y/N watched grinning as Samantha ran off into a bathroom, she stood up snatching the bong of the raven-haired boy, "Is there any weed that's not in here, I want a joint," she announced.

Abby sprinted off and came back with a small baggy filled with weed and a box of rolling paper, you took them out the girl's hands and kissed her forehead, "you're a gem."

The girl grinned and chucked herself onto the couch, on top of Brodie. Y/N stumbled towards the table to roll two joints, one for her, one for Diana.

"Come get one Di!" She shouted, the skidding and crashing indicated that the girl had arrived.

She picked one up and inspected it, "I love when you roll them!" Y/N tossed the lighter at her which she caught surprisingly well. Y/N placed hers between her lips and waited for her friend to light it.

The pair walked over to the people on the couch, the two girls mentally deciding to through themselves on Abby, the party had noticeably gone quiet, as the time had hit around half one. The only people who were left were the group of nine huddled around the couch.

"You know how much I love you, Abby, you're so cute and pretty," Y/N mumbled, cuddling into the girl she hadn't properly talked to since about five minutes ago.

"You two are definitely drunk!" Abby laughed, pushing both Y/N and Diana off of her onto the space next to her.

"We're not drunk we're just appreciating life!" Diana shouted, taking another long draw of her joint.

"While you guys appreciate life, me and Norah are away to have sex!" Jordan slipped into the conversation, causing everyone to groan.

"Shut up Jordan!" Norah reddened, pulling him away and up the stairs.

Everyone sat and talked for a while, despite never really hanging out with the group Diana and Y/N were fitting right in, laughing like they were old friends who hadn't seen each other for ten years. Diana had especially warmed up to Brodie who she was now all over in the corner of the basement.

"Perhaps we should take this to my room, what do you say Diana?" Brodie suggested to the ethereal-looking girl on his lap who was layering his neck with the red lipstick she had swiped on only an hour or so prior.

"I say that sounds great!" She beamed, grabbing the boy's hand and leading him up the stairs as silently as they could.

"I'm heading, I refuse to hear two couples going at it." Abby groaned kissing Y/N on the head before she leaves, waving a small goodbye at Ginny, who was cuddled into Hunter's side pretty much comatose.

"I better get Ginny home, sorry guys." Hunter pitifully smiled.

"No please don't leave me here with Matt!" Y/N pleaded making him burst out laughing.

She whipped round, and finally he had well and truly pissed her off. "Oh my god, will you ever get out of your own way?"

"What's your deal, why are you being such a bitch to me lately, do I mean nothing to you," Matt shouted taking a step closer to the girl.

"Well fucking done Matt! You finally get it!" She yelled back at him. "You aren't as stupid as you give yourself credit for."

"What's that supposed to mean?" She questioned getting even closer, making him step back into the table.

"Jump," Matt grunted, breaking the kiss, his arms came down to the back of her thighs, lifting her onto the table. She wrapped his legs around his waist, letting him kiss down her neck.

Alright, so, right off the bat (I may or may not have giggled when I saw this) I’m getting “emotional baggage”. Mind you this is for looks. So Atiny will probably see them (Though they most likely won’t since this is their current state BUT IF THEY DID) and immediately be like “Aww, poor baby, they looks like they have so much emotional baggage.” So right off the bat I kind of feel bad.

So yeah. Definitely seeing his FS is currently either underweight or overweight. Not in an extreme way, and more so because of what’s happening. Definitely looks like they’re on their last leg, with eye bags and such. But not necessarily bad-looking.

However, his FS still has this brightness about them. Like this joyful aura and demeanor that’s infectious. Like bright eyes that seem to shine and easy to make smile. They’re definitely confident in their appearance regardless right now. Getting slight Leo vibes but I dunno, may just be me associating that aspect of them with Leo placements.

Definitely dresses to impress. Stylish clothing that’s not luxury but definitely high-end. Like someone who looks well-off, but not rich in the way they present themself.

So, definitely just exudes that successful aura. Gives off those responsible office siren vibes (If San’s FS is a woman I know for a fact in the future she’ll be my woman crush in the most respectful way possible like she seems like THAT GIRL.)

So…She definitely looks like she’s on her last leg though, all things considered. She’s probably very physically tired, and going through some things right now. Health-wise also.

She’s very resilient though. Not letting that get to her, and powering through regardless.

Her appearance (I’m not saying she’s ugly here) is definitely unique. Not quite fitting into the box whether it’s features, style, piercings, hair color, Korean beauty standards, etc. but still absolutely owning it like the icon she is. (As you can tell I already adore this woman I will ride for her)

She’s probably someone who’s isolated because of her appearance though. She’s unique and people don’t like that, and are intimidated by her demeanor and her aura.

Personality

She’s definitely responsible. She’s accomplished a lot and knows how to deal with heavy burdens in life. Probably the oldest daughter if his FS is a woman just from these vibes, since I have a feeling she had to take care of younger siblings for most of her early life, making her have to bear certain burdens and responsibilities. Almost like a second mother from a young age.

There’s a lot of passion that’s been sparked in her from many different things that have happened to her in her lifetime.

She may be the type of person who fears failure, and is pessimistic by nature. She’s afraid everything she works for will come apart and while she tries to mask it, she’s deeply insecure. Probably one of those people whose mothers had always seen them as competition if she’s a woman, and that’s really gotten to her.

Definitely the type of person who feels she always needs to succeed and cannot fail or be defeated no matter what.

She’s a person with immense courage and determination. She’s a very joyful person by nature despite everything. Definitely getting slight Pisces/Leo moon vibes here, but again, I didn’t pull for that it’s more of that’s what those traits are giving me. She’s individualistic and lights to fit outside the box. She’s determined and courageous but not overly so. She knows balance.

She’s definitely a competitive person. She strives to be the best at everything and trust she will do whatever it takes (As long as it doesn’t go against her morals) to get what she wants.

She’s not the type of person who avoids conflict either. If she feels something is unjust she’ll speak up about it, though I don’t see her stirring anything up herself. It’s more like she won’t let herself be pushed around.

She’s a prideful person, but in the sense of her ego is so fragile that one small crack will shatter her, so she masks that weakness with pride so that no one can be able to tell. But it’s still very easy to break her confidence and get in her head, even if she doesn’t let that show. She falls apart very swiftly, and it’s always catastrophic.

She’s someone who believes in fate. She believes everything will end up how it is destined to be, and someone that intimately knows change. Someone who has accepted change and adapts well to it. Someone who strives for change and pushes towards it. She definitely is intimately aware that life is just one change after another. But she can see that it all leads to one big picture being complete.

She’s perceptive. She’s observant and picks up on things quickly with a sharp mind. She’s a complex person, and her personality is definitely one of those ones that fluctuates a lot throughout her life. Loving and knowing her is definitely loving and knowing every version of her that comes along as she changes, and it happens fairly often, though not in a bad way. She’s constantly growing and adapting, sometimes faster than others can keep up with.

She’s someone who succeeds a lot in life. I’ve noticed that many in her situations do, because she wants to be sure she’ll be alright no matter what. I see her being someone who can easily make the public love her if she works hard because that’s who she is.

She’s definitely a stingy person. She’s the type who’s so used to having nothing and scared of being there again, so she pinches every penny possible. She’s a greedy person because she knows what it’s like to have nothing and never wants to have nothing again. It scares her more than anything.

She’s also a possessive person by nature in many aspects, though not in an inherently toxic manner. “What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is yours, so keep it that way” type of mentality.

She’s a quick thinker and very assertive. She knows how to take action.

Misc.

In regards to her age compared to San’s I’m not getting much of an answer. It’s more, “we love one another and we’re happy, so what is the problem?” But there’s also that aspect of…Playing it safe? It might be an age gap that’s not BAD, but more so something they may get hate for.

They’ll probably meet after some period of loss for both of them, and bring with them joy for one another. They both have their own assets, so there’s no worry of “Oh this person is using me for money/status”, so that’s not something they have to truly worry about.

They were definitely going through a rollercoaster ride in life but everything settled and they found one another.

This will definitely be a time that releases them from some pains they were both facing.

So, in regards to work, San’s FS is a perfectionist to an obsessive degree, and prone to overworking. But they also get burnt out very easily. They’re the type who can work on a project for days but get little done, or they can finish a project in four hours and get a masterpiece. They often find themselves with the brunt of their coworker’s work and reaping none of the benefits of it.

I have a feeling San’s FS may be considering switching jobs which is why there’s no strong direction of career paths. San’s FS is probably fed up with ending up with everyone else’s work.

So, in terms of their relationship, they were both looking for someone willing to do what it takes to make it worth. They’ve probably both been in relationships with people who haven’t tried their hardest for the relationship.

They want joy, and for the relationship to be successful. They want something positive that’s worth celebrating when those anniversaries come around.

But there’s still some things where they can’t make decisions. Their opinions clash and they reach a stalemate in those aspects. Because of that, they don’t broach such subjects, and they hang over them.

They’re both people who have strong ties to legacies for entirely different reasons. San has mentioned he has a very loving family who has made him want to show others the love he has been shown, but I think for his FS it’s the opposite. She comes from a family that’s far from loving and because of that she wants to show others the love she craves.

Emotionally, they inspire one another. They give each other more willpower, and they push each other to get the things they want. I definitely believe San’s FS will inspire a song one day. They help make each other better.

Physically, they find comfort in one another. I can see them just laying together in each other’s arms. They feel at ease when the other is near, and they feel strong compassion for each other.

Mentally, they’re also both compatible. They’re very self-aware people who spend time contemplating things about each other and themselves. The type who can walk away from an argument to cool off then talk about it later with level heads and come to a conclusion quickly. They’re both very mentally mature in those aspects.

With you having these dog-like traits, Genji, in general, would note a mental comment on your appearance; but woukd not push not pressure you about it. You were still a person, and no matter how you had such cute ears and a fluffy tail, the ninja was in no place to judge. He would have some strange (yet, somewhat valid) questions about your anatomy—are you colourblind? Do you eat dog food? Can you bark?

No matter how you responded to him, he would be sitting with you; nodding his head affirmatively with each of your statements. Please tell Genji that he's merely being curious, and to also set boundaries with him, if a topic is too much for you. Making you uncomfortable was something he'd hate to ever hear. He would do his very best to help you accommodate towards things as well, if you do need the assistance.

Along with different dog breeds, I'd like to imagine he'd have the most fun with... maybe a Shiba Inu, Chihuahua, or a golden retriever?

The Shiba Inu is a rather iconic pick, plus, fitting for Genji—considering its place of origin. At first, judging by the looks of your animalistic features, he would try to guess what breed you were at first—then, ultimately settled on you being a Shiba, as he saw your personality unfurl. Plus, that curled up tail gave it all away. Your confident yet more reserved, cat-like demeanor amused the ninja; as he was then excited ro see what you'll do next.

With being friends together, Genji would like the refreshing change of pace that was brought by your attitude—loyal and compassionate, whilst still being individually independent. You'd often hang out with him whenever he is practicing his blade, considering that's what he often-time does in his free hours, anyways. You'd give him a pleasant surprise if you showed off your escape artist skills; able to somehow contort yourself around various, high-scalling nooks and crannies. Genji would joke that you were a better ninja than he was!

If the two of you were to ever be in a relationship, Genji would love to feel his hands around the softness of your ears; smiling to himself, seeing how lovable you were. Even though you had so much energy, he knew keeping up such a big personality to-boot had to be exhuasting; he'd note. Based off of memes, he'd go get you random items—like, y'know that one meme where it's a Shiba, and its wearing a piece of bread? He would have very loving pet (haha get the joke haha get it) names, such as Doge. He'd apologize for how terrible he was at these types of things.

For a Chihuahua, he'd have fun with that one. Stereotyped for their small frame but big temper, he would make jokes about your height; comparing you to different objects, and ask if you could even reach them. Genji would open doors for you, since he'd "worry" that you were too short. Everytime you were to snap back at him, you could tell that he'd roll his eyes—adding that reaction as more ammunition that he could use against you, so that he could tease you further in the future.

He understands to take you seriously, and just because you happen to have a canine appearance, he knew you were still a person at heart; even if you acted like a little shit sometimes towards him. Genji is pretty used to being either around the same height as others, or relatively shorter, so he'd like to think of that as a win for him. If you were to challenge him to a fight, he'll say that you with your ankle-biting tactics may be the formidable enemy against his blade.

He knows how exhausting it must be to have such an attitude like that, and to be so cute, so, if you're uncomfortable with his teasing, please do tell him! He wants to know if he is ever pushing boundaries, and would rather you tell him if he is, rather than for him to accidentally upset and hurt you any further, if he has. Genji knows when to lay off if needed, and he will have more creative jokes, rather than just teasing you about your stature or supposed high ego—as he knows that there is far, far more to you than that.

With a golden retriever, he'd be pretty pleasantly surprised! I feel like Genji's a dog person (self-projection), and he has a soft spot for retrievers and labs! With how contagious your smile and energy was, he couldn't help but love the change of pace that he was getting, since often times, he would talk to people who would only have a sour, pessimistic view. Of which he understood, as he once fell into that hole too. Jealous of how people could be so easily idealistic about the world, he would've shunned those feelings, and felt uncomfortable with sharing. With his newfound enlightenment, he understood that peoples' intentions were not to be idealistic—but to put a positive spin on a rather harsh, sinking reality.

It might take him a minute to try and keep up with your pace, but know that if he were to ever get overwhelmed, he will tell you! He found it interesting that your tail would be swishing back and forth constantly, worried at first that you were trying to communicate something—as dogs communicate with all kinds of gestures, and a wagging tail does not equate to a happy puppy. Once he realized that you were just affectionate and loving naturally, he really understood!

Genji was one to not deny someone of their creative expression, and that is also their love language! Wether that maybe platonic or romantic, he will not take it the "wrong" way, as he has difficulties at times with processing his emotions. Don't be affaid to be all excited; he enjoys seeing you happy, and those ears of yours perk up—too!

💲Price is the fluffiest. His iconic beard remains when he's transformed, making him easily recognizable, though he has been mistaken for a bear in the past. If you laugh at that fact, he'll simply huff in feigned annoyance and lay on top of you to prevent you from escaping. Being a natural werewolf, not only does he have more hair but Price's transformations are about as easy as they can be so he'll often use his time with you to relax and catch up on sleep. He sleeps the most soundly when you're cuddled into his chest or back, your face pressed to his fluffy mane. He loves hearing about how much you love his fluff and secretly takes pride in it.

💀Ghost is the biggest. As a 6'4 mountain of a man, he's even larger when transformed. It'll take some getting used to, especially when he transforms in your living space. If you try to make the area more comfortable for him, he'll be especially grateful for your effort. More than anything, he'll just want to be close and feel your touch. His body aches after he transforms and he's more easily overwhelmed so the gentleness of your hands helps him settle into this second shape. No matter how many times you've seen him transformed, he'll always feel some degree of shame around you so make sure he knows just how adored he is.

🧼Soap is the most playful. His transformations tend to energize him rather than exhaust him so expect him to be bouncing off the walls for a bit. If you match his energy level, he'll never let you go. He'll want to chase you and wrestle around but he's hyper-aware of his own strength so any change in your attitude will make him settle down. Once he's burned through that extra energy, he'll just want to listen to you ramble about anything that comes to mind, even if he can't really respond.

🧢Gaz is the sweetest. In the field, he’s known for his level-headedness and clever quips. When he gets home, he’s nothing but a big softie with you. His favorite place to be is in your lap, his wolfish head snuggled against your stomach as you card your fingers through his hair. To know that you accept and love this side of him warms his heart and he'll let you know just how happy it makes him with plenty of cuddles and kisses. He absolutely loves hearing you giggle and does just about anything he can to get that reaction from you.

🦿Alex is the most sensitive. All werewolves tend to be very in-tune with their surroundings, especially in the military, but Alex is even more so. His job as a secret agent of sorts has honed his ability to pick up on the tiniest changes in his environment and, when it comes to you, he's even more aware of your reactions. A slight change in your scent or heartbeat will immediately have him hurrying to your side to check in. More often than not, he can tell if he's actually needed but you're always grateful for his attentiveness and respond with a reassuring hand to his head or chest so he knows you're alright. When you're not, prepare for some inescapable werewolf cuddles.

🪦Graves is the most stubborn. As the Commander of Shadow Company, one of the most notorious groups of werewolves around, he's used to getting his way. When it comes to you, however, he tends to give in far more easily, especially so when he's transformed. A simple scratch around his ears or under his chin will make him melt in seconds and he'll never be able to resist when you run your fingers through the sandy blond hair covering his neck. The usually snarling and snapping werewolf commander will want nothing more than to hold you close, peppering your skin with gentle kisses and warm huffs of breath. Just don't let his Shadows know or he’ll withhold his cuddles.

He actually carries in that department, the others put up with him a lot of the time because they don't have to pull their weight of kills thanks to him, and Smile, of course. Jeff is a very different person when Smile is around, much more approachable and even a bit more outgoing.

Smile gets away with a lot because of Jeff, like tracking blood and dirt and shit everywhere in the house, being on the couches, etc. But she can be bribed around situations usually with a dog treat.

He's also one of the few bold enough to talk back at authoritive figures like slender himself.

Strong sense of justice, which can either be good or bad. But he sure does act on it.

Love makes him feel the most human, but he also hates sentimental moments, and people in general. Soo good luck with that. Be my guest if you want to torture yourself trying to get past all of his walls.

He don't discriminate, he hates everyone equally <3 He is more in the straight department, but he doesn't really dwell on labels so it's whatever.

If he's into you, that is a whole new side of Jeff you have the privilege of meeting, lucky you! Same goes for if he has a squish. But again he's not one really motivated for friendship.

One summer afternoon, one of the neighbors hosted a 'welcome' barbeque in their own front lawn, a few houses down, to which his parents and little brother all attended. But Jeff, being the little loner he was/is, stayed behind in the house, putting clean dishes away as per request of his mother. (he didn't have to do it right then, but he thought he might as well get it over with while the house is quiet.) The front door of his house had a broken screen door, and it being a cool afternoon, the house was left with a few windows open, including the front door. The front screen door was initially slammed shut in a way it would stick if not touched, doing its job of being a bug barrier. However it was not a barrier to the rabid stray husky/wolfdog mix that wandered to the door from behind the house, from the forest. All it took was a little nose bump for the screen door to become unstuck, and creak open enough for it to walk through.

Jeff was wiping off a kitchen knife when he spotted the mangey beast walking into view from the counter. And froze. He wasn't a fool, he knew how dangerous dogs could be. And this one looked like a fucking zombie, foaming at the mouth. The dog lunged and tackled Jeff to the ground, his knife clattering a ways behind him. It's hard to wrestle a dog off of your body when its teeth are clamped onto your face, ripping skin and muscle tissues off where ever it could sink its teeth, hook and then tear. Unwrapping him like he was made of tissue paper. Jeff couldn't even get an arm between its face and his. But before it moved down to his neck, Jeff made a swipe behind him and palmed the handle of the kitchen knife. And he wasted no time putting every adrenaline filled flex of muscle in his body into swinging the blade up under the side of the dog, plunging it all the way in, and twisting it, taking it out, plunging, twisting.. It finally pulled back at the fourth. wailing desperate cries, as it scampered over his and its own blood, scrambling back out the open door and into the veil of the forest. Liu was then moments later sent to check up on Jeff, and upon entering the scene before him, shrieking for dear fucking life, brought their parents, and some neighbors to the scene. They moved here, they came all this way, to start a new. Before the move, he was expelled from his old school, and for being a hell of a bully. But he was ready to change, he was in middle school now, he wanted to turn a new leaf, not be surrounded by eggshells for other people, he wanted to be someone his parents could be proud of, he wanted to be a big brother, looking out for Liu. And oh, he was doing so well. He was passed out, he looked unrecognizable. They did the best they could in the ER and with what facial reconstruction they could afford. They had to do a whole separate one for his eyes. If there was one thing Jeff didn't want to be anymore, going by his past school experience, was feared. But now, it doesn't even matter. It's ruined, he's ruined. His face, and his trust, no one would ever look at him again without an ounce of fear, or pity, or disgust, or some mix of the such. Eventually, school began once again, and it was bitterly how he expected, and now he always was tense, and confused, but so very angry. When he felt eyes on him, when people looked at him with that blank face. It's like he wore a mask of the devil, a mask he could not take off. And he constantly paid the price by the eyes of all who see him, see it. He doesn't need a mirror, he has the faces people make when they see him. Where's his nose? Where're his eyebrows? His eyes are terrifying. What's wrong with his cheeks, his lips?

Don't they realize? Don't they fucking realize how annoying they are? The audacity they all have, to react to something about him out of his control. He was too quick to feel like an outcast because of it, and so, he acted like one, and so, he was treated like one. Prophecy fulfillment, if you will. And his life carried on like this to the age of 14. With only one last reason to keep it all together, his little brother, Liu. Who no matter what looked up to him, seeked his advice, his company, nothing could ever change that. Liu was never scared of Jeff, even when he lashed out at home, he would be the one to bring dinner to his room, talk about his day, convince mom to let him have his phone back early, Liu was a diamond in the rough. Jeff never, ever expected however, to be the subject of abuse from other kids in his own grade. He saw it all one day, while suspended from school for throwing a chair at someone. Liu was standing out front, where the other cul-de-sac kids and himself would wait for the bus. Jeff was busy coming down from an episode, bloody scissors in one hand, the other hand gripping the edge of the counter, he cut his cheeks open, from the corners of his mouth. It wasn't that bad, in the sense that he couldn't really feel it thanks to unrepaired nerve damage. He could feel the way cool air would be on his gums and teeth, even if he closed his mouth. He felt new, in control. He then went to the kitchen to get a first aid kit, he didn't want to bleed all over the house, AGAIN. But something caught his eye from out the window, where he saw the usual group of kids waiting for the bus. First it was yelling. Then, it was shoving. Then, it was going through his backpack, holding him back as two others let its contents spill on the ground. They all wore their hoodies up, were they..... Pretending to be Jeff? Liu was held face to face with one of them, some more talking it would seem, Then it looked like Liu spat in the other boys face. That got a chuckle out of Jeff as he watched from a window. Liu then got punched in the face. Rage. Rage like never before. His eyes locked on the scuffle through the kitchen window, his hand swiped that very knife from the knife block, and in one swift motion left through the front door, slamming shut behind him. His pace was fast, and the bullies had their back turned, except for one.. But it was too late. His eyes shut. And then, they open. But he does not understand what he sees. Or feels, he is in a cold, cold forest, siting against a tree, covered in leaflitter. Even as he slowly rose to his feet, the leaves stayed on him, and he peeled one off of the front of his shirt, ah. Stuck by blood. His own? He calmly takes a moment standing there ignoring the multiple pangs of pain he felt all over his body, recalling the past events albeit difficult. He saw Liu being attacked by other school kids, he went to take care of it. ..Take care of it?

Yes, the knife. Jeff gasps, patting himself down, and realizing his knife was carelessly tucked into his hoodie pocket, it's caked in sticky blood upon taking it out. He starts to remember little things, the feel of the blade pushing deep into the shoulder of another, and then in the chest of another, and another, another.. The sounds of shrieks, sobs, bloody screams and pleas. The smell of iron, and sweat, and crisp autumn morning air. The feeling of nails clawing at your face, neck, wrists, the blows made to your ribs, and legs.. And it was until his brother Liu came between him and one of the last standing bullies, does he stop. He almost shared his fate as well, if the call out of his name didn't snap him out of it. Bolted, a B-line for the tree line, he doesn't know how long he was running but it hurt his feet to stand on them. Before he is able to process any emotion, the world around him became impossibly quiet. Completely silent. As he then felt a presence. --------------------- part 2 later, if dis gets any attention lmao------

i saw that you also said you love to talk about other characters, not just sephiroth, so i thought i'd ask: what are your favorite things/traits/moments etc of all of the playable characters we've had across the compilation of 7? i feel like i can talk about all the characters forever :)

Ooh yeah! This will be fun. Okay!

Cloud: Cloud is the most relatable character to me, and probably my favorite if we're being honest. I relate strongly to his identity issues, and I love when he tries to act tough while concealing a softer nature. My personal favorite scene with him is the flashback where he realizes that he was stronger than Sephiroth this whole time, throwing Sephiroth down the pit. It's a powerful moment, probably Cloud's single greatest moment in the entire series.

Tifa: Tifa is literal perfection. She looks like a tough tomboy and yet she's also one of the kindest people ever. She's maternal, loyal, supportive, and devoted to a fault. The team would be lost without her. She's the glue that holds everyone together. An absolute queen. My favorite moment with her is Under the Highwind, regardless of her relationship with Cloud being romantic or platonic.

Barret: Barret's got a heart of gold. He's always part of my main party when playing the OG. A great comrade and an even GREATER father. His relationship with Marlene is beautiful and so warm and wholesome. Barret also spits some iconic quotes over the course of the game, as well as some hard truths. My favorite scene with him, naturally, is his encounter with Dyne. The line "my hands are too stained to carry her anymore" gets me to cry no matter how many times I play.

Aerith: Aerith is the biggest hero of FFVII next to Cloud. She's the one who ultimately saves the day, and all through her sacrifice. I'm not even gonna talk about my favorite moment with her because...you guys already know the scene. It's the single most famous scene in gaming history. Aerith has a playful, occasionally chaotic edge to her personality that she hides behind a sweet smile. I absolutely adore that about her. She's so full of love and so full of selflessness, but she also loves to tease people. Also an absolute queen.

Red XIII: Nanaki is a cat btw. I have always seen him as a cat. That's my controversial opinion on him lmao. Also him howling for Seto makes me ugly cry every single time without fail. I appreciate that Nanaki seems occasionally stoic and serious, but then has kind of a childlike or immature fear or insecurity about something. There's that duality to him that ties to the other characters in a sense. Anyway, I love him. He is a very good boy.

Cid: Cid took a while to grow on me initially. He's pretty rough around the edges. But my favorite moment with him happens in the last third where he sorta becomes the de facto leader of the group with Cloud gone. And I like that he seems to have reconciled with Shera as well. Honestly, he's just kind of a badass and really cool at what he does. Also he gets to go to space. Good for him tbh.

Cait Sith: This one is hard because there's always a debate as to how much of a character Cait Sith actually IS. It's Reed puppeting a machine/doll basically. How much of Cait Sith has a mind of his own? Regardless, Cait Sith isn't my fave. He's a spy, after all. But he makes up for it in the end, even if he kinda fades into the background. Reed is honestly more of an interesting character overall. I can't name any specific favorite moments with Cait Sith specifically. But also he's a small Scottish cat. And that's rad.

Vincent: This edgy boi. Also not one of my faves, but he's grown a lot more on me over time. He wins for always having the coolest voice in the entire group. And I really like the scene where he reunites with Lucrecia. Vincent is kind of gruff and understated at times compared to the rest of the cast. But he has a gentle side as well, and one hell of a cool backstory. Also I love monsters and gothic imagery in general.

Yuffie: Yuffie is...my least favorite main character. I don't hate her. I've just never been a fan of the "spunky loudmouth child" trope. With that said, I'm sure the Remake trilogy will breathe new life into her and add some extra appeal for me. I like what I've seen so far. And Yuffie's bluntness and playfulness can be cute from time to time.

Zack: Counting him because of Crisis Core. He's probably my third favorite character. His death is the saddest scene in the entire compilation imo. He's a character who is wholly encompassed by love, who deals with a LOT of pain, and who proves to be better and worthier than most people put together. Like Aerith, he sacrifices everything. And also like Aerith, his legacy will live on forever.

Frank Frankly's Character Analysis !TW! Metal Health, M4ss4cr3, death

Eddie got his analysis so of course his husband would have one! (Fun Fact! despite Wally being the main character, Frank shows up in 18 outta 53 images!) fun facts outta the way, HERE WE GOOOO!!!

He likes Honesty and Truth - quote from his bio "He enjoys being frank, even if it means being Frank" i love this quote on his bio and this is the main reason they're my kin.

2. Frank is an Asperger? - Although he is confirmed to be autistic by @partycoffin , his personality makes him an Asperger (My tito has Aspergers so i know the gist of it). His official Bio points out his Bookworm Tendency, and his Grumpy attitude and that points it to Asperger Syndrome. So here's the traits

Resistance to or Obliviousness of Social Niceties, Blunt Honesty ("Frankness")

Non-Instinctual Facial Expression (his neutral face is a frown and not a smile like the others)

Comprehensive Academic Knowledge, with unique Specialist Subjects (Bookworm who loves Butterflies)

Periodic Emotional Volatility, "Meltdowns" (His Head Physically Spins when angry, to the point he is exhausted and dizzy; he also flaps his arms when excited)

Adherence to Formal/Traditional Decorum to navigate social situations (he has a few costume changes of his own, talk about that later)

Entomologist job from a university??? - Y'all prolly already know this, Frank's love of butterflies isn't just a hobby non non, he is infact an entomologist, we can confirm this with the spinning head GIF, there's mounted butterfly specimens on his wall. Alright alright, Bug Collecting won't buy you a can of beans and traumatizing Howdy from the Bodega, UNLESS your an employee from a University to research the nearby Insect Wildlife. (It's not rlly mentioned in The Show but most of them have some sorta job) I think thats how Eddie reunited with Frank bcuz the university might be working in the military program Eddie enlisted in back in 1953. What is obvious is that This University MUST exist or frank and eddie wouldn't reunite.

4. Ethnicity Analysis Time!!!!! - Frank showed his ethnicity through his Valentines Card (thx frank!). Frank is wearing an Old-Time Safari Costume when catching Butterflies, but it's not just a stereotypical costume non non, the design is inspired by a VERY specific Uniform. he's wearing is a British Expedition Bush Jacket, topped with a matching Safari Pith Helmet, Light Tan Fabric of the Indian Variety. Although the card is in a pinkish hue, I can tell that the uniform is a tad bit lighter so its a Light Muslin Fabric. Yeah Sure, the British Invasion of the 60s revived the Shacket look for Women's Fashion, but Frank's pragmatic personality made it clear that he was issued that Expedition Uniform with Function planned in it. In addition with his Grey skin, Black hair and his iconic Unibrow, He is designed to look like The Stereotypical Depiction of a Gentleman Scientist of Hindoo Colonial Heritage or to simplified it, he came from Hindu / Indian origins.

5. Frank's Story - Frank Franklin was born in 1942 and was born Half Indian from his mother, He was fascinated with bugs and specifically Butterflies as they represent change and rebirth. He was teasedfor having his name as his last name (Have u guys even heard of Tweek Tweak?) even with his blunt honesty he made friends and even became childhood sweethearts with eddie. One day in Senior High, Eddie said that he was gonna enlist and may return 2 years later, Frank was worried as to add salt to the wound his soon to be Ex sunny became toxic and mean-spirited so ofc they broke up. 2 years later he was working as an Entomologist at St. Marioneta University (I made that up) and then he ran into Eddie, they were happy to see each other still okay so on an unknown date in 1969 they married in secret (THANKS ALOT TIME PERIOD D:<). months later in October 11 1969 a man named Ronald Dorelaine Isekai'd Frank, Eddie and some friends you know to the World of Welcome Home, but tragedy struck 4 years later, An event known as The Playfellow M4ss4cr3 killed the crew and the stars of the show but Dorelaine's body was not found and was reported MISSING and presumed dead, This marks the 50th year they were stuck in the void, Are they longing for Freedom or The Sweet release of DEATH?

Wanna hear a wholesome fun fact? In Hinduism, Butterflies are symbolic of birth, ancestry, marriage, deceased soul, death and divinity. No wonder why frank is so attached to Butterflies.

The Disney Descendants franchise brings up a great many worldbuilding questions (perhaps because it is not supposed to be scrutinised by anyone older than 12) but right now the question I am focusing on is Captain Hook. Who appears in the newest movie when he was a teenager in high school, with his trademark hook.

He is not a major character. He has a few lines, joins in a song, but he is mostly set dressing to say "when the villains were in highschool, a bunch of them hung out together." He was picked as a Disney villain with a iconic physical trait that did not involve CGI. There was clearly no thought put into the fact that if a teenage Captain Hook has his hook, then that means he has already fought Peter Pan.

He is a child here. Older than Pan, but a child, and the fact zero attention was drawn to the hook means it has been at least a year or two for him to get used to it.

What happened?

Wonderland exists in this world, and Hook's existence pretty well confirms Neverland too. He makes a comment about being Captain of the Seas in one of the songs, but he never actually has any other pirates with him and seems pretty middle in the villain-students tier. He is a student boasting to the other students.

Maybe Hook is an actual pirate, who used to work on a ship that sailed to a magical island. Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen years of age at most, which seems ancient to certain lost boys but is a child (and maybe he stayed thirteen, fourteen for a very long time on that island). Then there is a fight, and a red haired kid laughs, and suddenly his hand is missing and there is blood and an honest to goodness crocodile is stalking him, it remembers him, and when the pirates leave Neverland to pick up more supplies they leave him behind despite his arguments that he can still fight.

He gets found, he gets sent to a school that will take anyone especially difficult cases (such as someone who has been fourteen for a decade), and because his smile is a little too sharp and he reacts by attacking anyone who makes a comment, he ends up in the clique of villains.

Or, you know, he wasn't a pirate. He was twelve, and had been twelve for a very, very long time, and used to run wild through the forest with lost boys beside him, until one day he tried to argue with Peter, and Peter saw it as a game the whole time even when the knife came down and the crocodile looked hungry. Still would have run. Still would have found his way to the Merlin Academy, only it's a little bit worse that everyone decided he was a villain but he'd rather agree now.

Just... if you say 'the stories happen mostly like you know them' and then heavily imply the backstory happened when characters were teenagers or younger, then do something with it, please.

Dark Hero Arc and Deku’s Mask

The Dark Hero Arc and the Symbolism of Deku’s Mask

Izuku’s original costume design was created to invoke All Might. The No. 1 Hero’s iconic upwards bangs were added to Deku’s bunny-eared cowl, and the constant All Might smile recreated with Deku’s mouth guard.

"Just trying to meet expectations! A smiling... dependable... cool hero... That's what I wanna be!”

There’s a lot of symbolism in All Might’s bright smile and hair shape being the most iconic parts of All Might’s image that Izuku chose to imitate with his own hero costume. But those parts of the costume are also what cover up Izuku’s face and keep his actual features and emotions hidden from view, especially during the Dark Hero Arc where he’s wearing the mask constantly, something he hasn’t seen a need to do prior to this arc.

Which is why pulling down the mask is such a good indication of where Izuku is at mentally post war.

He’s hiding behind a figurative All Might mask for most of his arc.

And in his imitation of trying to be like All Might also shows up the dark side of All Might’s heroic traits and martyrdom that Izuku has picked up on. The never sleeping, never stopping, having to be constantly on the move or he won’t be fast enough or strong enough to save everyone.

All Might became the only pillar of society, and that left him isolated from everyone around him and leaving him with nothing else besides his persona as the Symbol of Peace. He was a symbol of heroism, and it’s no wonder he didn’t think he had a right to be human anymore as he was put upon pedestals and took on the burden of upholding peace and justice in society.

Deku’s mask shows us how becoming like All Might isn’t going to fix anything. The Dark Hero Arc is supposed to show us the problem with the one pillar type system of heroics that All Might pioneered over the use of teamwork and cooperation.

As the strongest hero, All Might didn’t wait around for the other heroes to keep up, and was only focused on being a symbol to inspire others.

“All Might... I’m fine now. You don’t have to follow me.”

It’s why All Might and Deku feeding into one another’s drive for heroism isn’t a good thing in the long run and ends up with Izuku running worn and ragged and unable to do anything as those around him are left behind and unable to keep up and get him to slow down and rest.

It’s why I also think that Izuku losing the hood and face-guard are so important. It’s a way to show him more open and vulnerable. To be more relatable to those around him.

"If I can't save one little girl right in front of me... Then how can I ever hope to be a hero who saves everyone?!"

All the biggest moments that Deku has acted as a hero for others, took place where he wasn’t wearing a mask. Those were the moments he was the hero Deku; not just an “All Might wannabe” hidden behind a hooded cowl or face-guard. Not when his eyes are shadowed and dark where only his irises are visual.

Izuku’s biggest heroic moments are when he isn’t doing things All Might’s way, but relying on his own strengths and powers as a hero.

All Might’s constant smile and hair tufts were his version of a hero mask - and those are the aspects that Izuku took inspiration from in his original costume; and those were the parts of the mask present for the majority of his fights in the Dark Deku arc.

"I smile to show the pressure of heroes and to trick the fear inside of me."

All Might used his smile and image to mask his own fear and insecurities.

And when the masks came off, we could see that Izuku wasn’t smiling at all during his arc. He stopped taking care of himself. He only allowed himself to be Deku, and was taking his heroism to the extreme to live up to the symbol that All Might had created and that Izuku took on as the Symbol of Peace’s successor.

“In order to smile... for everyone to live in peace...”

It’s why Izuku’s mask coming off during Deku vs Class A is so important to them coming together and working together by the end of the arc. 

When Iida, Uraraka, and Bakugou all reach out to save Midoriya from himself during this arc, none of them are wearing masks. They’re not hiding behind a façade, and are being their most genuine selves. And that is what ultimately opens them up to save Izuku. Losing the mask by the end and knowing that his friends are by his side.

If I gave my Totally Original Character (Do Not Steal 😡) a kerchief with a perpetual smile how would you suggest I design it to not look like a transparent TG ripoff

Let me just put this out there that I'm not going to be very strict on what doesn't look like a ripoff given that it didn't cross my mind Okarun could be mistaken for Kaneki despite there being a couple similarities.

Using Okarun here as an example: he doesn't look like ripoff Kaneki wearing his mask with glasses to me. Maybe that's partially due to how often the semi-realism involved in anime/manga character designs results in overlapping design elements, even where they're meant to be distinguishable most often in the hair. I could say the Dr. Stone protagonist's face looks similar to Okarun in his mask. Compared to Kaneki's, Okarun's mask has completely different proportions and physics. Kaneki is rarely ever depicted without his masks's eyepatch, nor does he wear glasses with it. Their hair styles don't match and Okarun's has different physics so as far as anime/manga designs go, that's noteworthy distinction :p

But I'm assuming you're after visual language that looks even more dissimilar, and in this case: -Leave the eyepatch at home. I'd say "at sea" but I'm vaguely wondering if this is a One Piece OC - Kaneki's most iconic colors are black, white, and red. Break down a cast of cartoon characters into blocks of color and they’re still identifiable. Changing this means changing what fundamentally makes a character recognizable (And potentially to the point where including any other trait Kaneki has won't result in the character reading as similar). Maybe the kerchief is white and the teeth are gold. That's already leagues different from a Kaneki Cowboy AU. - The teeth on his mask are human skull proportioned with gums. Play around with the number, size, and type of teeth and it's sure to look less like Kaneki. Oni fangs or otherwise less human teeth work for example. - I know Kaneki’s hair changes color like tree rings, but it’s him with white hair that’s most iconic. If the OC is going to share that aspect, using another style will help a lot in pushing their differences. - I probably don’t have to mention this, but I’d advise against using “ghoul eyes” (black sclera, red iris). Kaneki is also often painted in official art with one red iris. - Lastly, if it's revenant to the OC, using a different body type and shapes from "average skinny young adult guy" is sure to add another layer of distinctions. Silhouettes are very important to good character design.

hi this is "That Thing". he probably has a name but everyone just refers to him with various vague and slightly rude terms. he thinks this is funny so he doesn't correct them. if youve ever seen me make a post/tag a post vaguely mentioning someone and its "Formatted Like This" its most likely about him. the average charlie princesable follower doesnt know about this guy which is funny because if youre in a server with me you are Painfully Aware He Exists because i love making people look at him.

his entire bit is that i thought it would be really funny if there was a guy who had no positive traits. no redeeming qualities. what if there was a guy who was so sucks and he made it literally everyone around hims problem. you'd get this guy. he's supposed to be extremely one note and lack basically any character depth because it's really funny to me to have a cast of characters i have put so much thought and effort into to make sure act like Actual People and then just dump in this dude who kills people for fun and thats it thats his entire character.

as previously stated yeah he just kills people. thats his gimmick. he shows up and kills people crazy style. no one takes him seriously because he's like. Cartoonishly Evil. so theyre all like. oh this guy cant be serious. there is no way a real human person would act like this. unfortunately there is. he sucks so bad and unfortunately he is having a great time being here.

everyone also hates him because hes an asshole and well he loves this. he loves that everyone hates him. he thinks its hilarious. any attention is positive attention or whatever.

he shows up during chapter 2/part 2/watever the fuck because twitch (pretend you know who that is) is like hm. you know its been weirdly difficult trying to kill sherwin. because that is the plot of charlie game. i wonder if that guy down the street still kills people. and theyre like hey do you still kill people? can you help me a kill a guy. and hes like. yeah thats what i do. extremely riveting i know.

he had a completely normal childhood he literally just did a complete 180 over the course of a single night and only one person is actually concerned about this.

other fun facts i want to mention that dont need their own paragraph: his hair is naturally black but he dyes it orange exclusively to piss his younger sister off because she has orange hair. he has two swords because thats the most extra shit i could think of. he genuinely never stops smiling it’s infuriating. his associated animal is a rabbit. all of my friends hate him. i hate him. he's existed for 2 years and has unfortunately had a massive impact on the plot. he's the only charlie game character with a fancam. i like to think his the culmination of me growing up watching 2010s animation memes. i would say we should kill him with hammers but unfortunately that is exactly what he wants.

tldr: everyone thinks sherwin is the worst person alive and its just because i never talk about This Guy. i am accepting questions and concerns at anytime.
