Shadow of a Deity (A LU/FoT crossover)

Chapter 1: A Portal Awry

Link had a mask that was a deity. In one universe, that deity became a father. In another, he didn't. What happens when those two realities collide?

The portal was askew as the nine heroes named Link tumbled out of it. 

The journey had not been a good one. Something had gone wrong.  Instead of walking calmly between one time and the next, they had fallen into this new one.  All the other trips had been a seamless journey, instantaneous from one place to another.  This had taken too long, with a pressure that squeezed and pulled at them, like their destination was somewhere they didn't belong. Instead of an open door, the portal was a crack in a wall they had to force their way through.  When they finally found fresh air, they stumbled, fell and nearly lost the contents of their stomachs as they sprawled under the great, spreading branches of many trees in a deep, dark woods. 

"Where are we? When are we?" Legend climbed shakily to his feet, sharp eyes taking in every detail.  There were so many dark forests in Hyrule over many years that they could be anywhen at all.  He spun at the sound and feel of collapsing magic and watched as the portal fizzled away into nothing.  "Well, there's that. We're trapped here."

Continuity for this fic is as follows: Father of Time: After the second Termina visit, before the Hebra trip, probably before the Navi reveal Linked Universe: After the whole Dawn storyline, most likely before the temple.

There’s something about Hero of Time Link finishing a dead Goron Hero’s (Darmani) final wishes by physically turning into him and being celebrated AS Darmani whereas his heroic deeds in Hyrule as an adult during Ocarina of Time are forgotten.

The crossover I didn’t know I desperately needed but do indeed desperately need, & thanks to Tears of the Kingdom, we do have Bomb Flowers & all manner of projectiles for Ingo to throw at baddies, or to Link in a pinch! 💣

I’d go back to their original comic now & again (partially because Legends Arceus really reminds me of BotW), where Moth imagines Ingo in BotW Hyrule with the popularly feral Link. In this AU of their AU it’s more or less the same, except Link is cured of his amnesia, & wants to help Ingo with his, as well as help him go home.

Father of Time Chapter 90: Bottom of the Well

The corridors were more broken and decrepit than Link remembered.  The central chamber had suffered the most; several cells were missing walls and the intangible, whole walls stuck up strangely from the ruined ones. The tell-tale sounds of the giant bubble were absent, the invisible doorways on full display and there was an overwhelming feeling of desolation that clung to every surface.   Something tugged at his memory, a reason why this dungeon looked so different, but he brushed it aside to worry about later.  With a wave for the others to follow him, Link moved down the corridor, picking up keys and rupees that had fallen out of ruined chests.  He was so occupied with the changes, he forgot to use the Lens of Truth entirely. 

A sudden drop under his foot was a stark reminder that the floor still had holes that were unrevealed.  His foot hung in the air and he teetered dangerously before Malon grabbed his hand with a sharp yank back. The force sent him staggering into her and they collapsed to the floor, limbs tangled together briefly.  Laughing at his own idiocy once again, Link leaned over and waved his hand through the seemingly solid surface.  "See what I mean?"
