Harry Potter has something overarchingly horrible and bad happen to him every school year, yeah? Some things are caused by cascading plot decisions for the overall series, of course, but other things are less effected.

That is to say, it's awfully looking that the events of, let's say Prisoner of Azkaban, don't happen at the same time as the events of Chamber of Secrets. All it would have taken is the Weasleys winning that prize money to visit Egypt a year earlier! The Triwizard Tournament could've happened just about any year!

It takes a bit of finagling, but I figured out that it's entirely possible to combine the events of the first five books into one horribly chaotic mess for just one (1) school year. And I wrote a fic about it, titled Harry Potter and the Speedrun From Hell. It only has 25 views right now??? Which is so beyond discouraging and annoying from a fandom so large. Cringey to advertise it, I know, but I really enjoy writing it and I want people to see it, so. Here I am.

The Trio start repairing Grimmauld Place after the war, and find themselves updating their relationship along with the wallpaper.

Love is three points on a triangle. When Ron leaves, nothing is right. When he returns, the world falls right back into place.

No one is okay after the war, but everyone pretends.

All things considered, Ron thinks he's adjusting fairly well.

Unceremoniously ripped away from his family and friends and being dumped into the past with a baby Dark Lord to take care of is not exactly an easy thing to acclimate to, but he manages, somehow.

Eventually, they find a note tacked to the gargoyle who guards the passage to the Headmaster's office. It is in Granger's handwriting and signed by her at the bottom, and tells them that, the danger being over and the initial aftermath winding down, she feels that the three of them need some time alone to recuperate and will reappear exactly three days from that day, at four o'clock.

I also think Harry/Ron/Hermione should've been endgame. Those three should've stayed together forever. They experienced most things together and I don't think anyone else could understand Harry more than Ron and Hermione.

i love putting my own issues onto my favorite characters, so here’s some thoughts of mine about harry having issues after the war

it takes him days to get out of bed, even with the unending attempts from ron and hermione

they don’t know what to do, he had nights like this at hogwarts but all ron did then was give him space and that worked! but it was not working now and they both had no idea what to do

he wouldn’t eat, he rarely slept, he just.. laid there. sometimes he would read, but it seemed like he read the same sentence over and over again before giving it up.

on day five of this, they made him get up. they ate breakfast (harry was forced into a bite of each item) and a shower where they both tried to scrub the pain out of his skin, tried to ooze their love for him into his body.

they all laid down together bare, harry squished in the middle of his two best friends, and now partners. hermione carding her fingers through harry’s hair, ron running his hands up and down his back, both trying to say “im here, just fall back and we’ll catch you” but harry doesn’t know how.

he starts with talking, trying to rehash every time he’s felt like this so maybe they can piece together why it happens

“the first time was the summer after cedric died. i couldn’t stop thinking about how i caused his death and in the wake of it caused a panic when all i wanted to do was get justice. then everyone put their faith in me in the DA, which just made me feel like a weight was on my entire being, like if any of them died or caused another death, it would be my fault. then sirius died, and i pushed away the feeling from then until now with anger. now, it’s over. and i failed so many people. i just can’t help but think that i should have gone instead of them. and it paralyses me”

as he finishes, his partners wrap themselves around him, like they’re afraid that he’ll wiggle away. they whisper things to him about how much they love him and how they’re going to get him help. and he hates it, but loves it at the same time.

he wants to recover, but does he deserve to? his partners are about to go to war to prove that the answer is yes.
