Just remember
Democracy Now quoted someone who said, "If you were able to hold your nose vote for the Pro-Genocide candidate in Kamala Harris to save democracy, you should be able to understand someone who hold their nose and vote for Trump despite his extreme rhetoric because he is the GOP candidate."

Walz is a former school teacher, served in the army, and was very pro-active in getting progressive stuff passed in his legislature. Besides codifying abortion/IVF rights, see this list of his accomplishments. A solid pick.

ok looks like we're gonna be doing the same thing, different verse, now that it's Kamala Harris on the Dem ticket instead of Joe Biden.
friendly reminder that one of these 2 people is getting elected. there's not a magical 3rd party person who's mystical and perfectly progressive who is gonna come out of the woodwork and save us. not voting or voting 3rd party isn't a "protest," it's capitulation. so let's do a comparison:
On Gaza:

I forgot to add to this that Trump also stated he will deport any non-citizen who protests the war in Gaza.
On LGBTQ+ rights:

On criminal justice:

On reproductive rights:

On the border:

In case you don't believe me re: the last Trump point.
On voting rights:

On climate change:

On the working class:

78% of Black men who voted went blue. I'm pissed at men too right now, but let's try to remember that when so many other men failed us, Black men showed up.

I work for a newspaper, I am quite literally a journalist, and yet I know in my heart I will find out who won the US election through the destiel meme.

Listening to the presidental debate, Trump keeps forgetting he's not running against Biden and also whining about Biden getting kicked out. Goddamn dude is not taking the breakup well.

When you take all of this together, the lies about immigrants voting, the mass voter challenges, the introduction of new processes to slow down and question vote counts, it seems depressingly likely we are about to see a storm of bullshit just like last time. And there are few things we should probably be ready for. First, unless there is an absolute landslide, we’re unlikely to know the outcome of the election on November 5th, and when it comes to Georgia, if Harris wins narrowly there, we’ll almost certainly see legal battles stretching into December or beyond, and which could eventually end up in front of [the Supreme Court]-... and all the while, Trump will try and exploit any delay or uncertainty, unless that is he wins outright in which case he’ll suddenly insist he triumphed over a rigged system.
So that is what we can expect. What can we do?
Well you can, and I hate to say this probably as much as you hate to hearing it, but make a plan to vote and help others do the same since the closer the race is, the easier it will be for Trump to sew bullshit. You should check to make sure you’re voter registration is current [ usa.gov/voting-and-elections ] to find links to your state’s voter registration verification tools, vote early if you can to ensure that if there’s any issue with your registration you can clear it up before election day, and if you vote by mail you can find a tracking tool for your ballot at this website [ vote.org/ballot-tracker-tools ]
But beyond that, it is going to be vital to be resilient against the storm of toxic nonsense that Trump and his allies will try and stir up. It can go on for months and be stupider than you can even imagine right now. So stupid that someone you know, love, or are related to (and those are three very different things) might even think that there is something to it.
But the key thing to remember here is that as chaotic as the last election was, in the end, our guardrails did hold. We’re going to need to make sure that they hold up again. And if we can do that, then, and only then, will we all deserve the single greatest sticker ever designed.

Y’all… Americans specifically, this is for you, from a humble thirty-something northern neighbour.
On a US podcast just now, I heard some young people saying they’re planning to sit out the 2024 election because they’re not fond of Trump OR Harris.
If you’re in that same camp, have you considered that you’re essentially saying, “I’d be okay with Trump becoming president again”?
That’s what this is about.
Refusing to vote is not making a statement for any cause. Refusing to vote is silencing yourself and handing your power over to the Trump supporters, who tend to be very enthusiastic voters. Please, please don’t do that. (They would LOVE for you to do that.)
The stakes are staggeringly high, and you can decide the outcome of this election. Please consider using the power you’ve been given.
Kamala Harris at least deserves a chance to make the USA a better country for people other than old white men. And I truly believe she wants to do that.
Thanks for reading. Gob smack bless.

I need every fucking person who doesn't live in the US talking about how stupid Americans are for this election to shut the fuck up for a second. I am from a red state, small town, born and raised, and despite everything, I love my country. That is not to say that I am not angry, that is not to say that our government doesn't piss me off to no end, but I love the wilderness and I love my community, and yes the culture of America is arrogant and self-centered frequently, but do not sit here and say everyone in this country is stupid or that way. Yes, there needs to be a cultural shift, we need to make a conscious effort to bring a community together, and laughing at your fellow man is not going to do that. Yes, it's terrible and awful we have to instill basic fucking empathy, but what else are we supposed to do? And it's entirely rich that you love to say how self fucking centered we all are, but you're making our fear and our future a talking point for your next comedy set. I love this country for all the potential it has, and by god it fails and disappoints me, and I am not the only one. We're not stupid, you don't need to laugh and point and salt our wound so you can feel better than us. Maybe you are, maybe you aren't, call me a dumb hick all you want, but I would take every single scared American who tried over the lot of you because at least they're trying to make things better.

reminder to not be calling kamala harris by her first name if youre calling donald trump by his last. i see wayyyyyy too many people going around saying "kamala" and "trump" without thinking about it but guys. give her the same amount of respect you would give a man and call her by her last name. actually, give her more respect than you would give a man, and call her harris and him donald. ik it's just semantics but it's pretty important!! we need to empower her, not familiarize/infantalize her.
