Note
1, 27, and 36 for the bookworm asks please!
Thank you!
1. Name the best book you've read so far this year.
Ooh, this is tricky because 1) I read a lot and 2) there's probably a difference between the best book and my favorite book, even though they're both subjective. For now, let's say: Tam Lin, by Pamela Dean, which I just read recently, and Small Gods, by Terry Pratchett, which I reread earlier this year.
27. What was the first book you remember reading as a kid?
I do have a few memories of reading the Dick and Jane and Alice and Jerry books when I was about three ("See Spot run! Silly, silly Spot!") because those are what my mom used to teach me to read. I also remember that one of the first ever chapter books I read on my own was Little House in the Big Woods, when I was 4 or 5.
36. Your absolute most favorite character(s) from any book you've ever read.
It's so hard to choose, I'm glad there's an option for multiple characters! An incomplete list:
Chrestomanci (AKA Christopher Chant) from Diana Wynne Jones's Chronicles of Chrestomanci was probably my earliest blorbo (and DWJ is generally good for characters I like!)
Of course both Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane, from the Dorothy Sayers mysteries, are favorites
Finally for now, I am rereading the Benjamin January mystery series, by Barbara Hambly, and the nice thing about a long series is that the recurring characters become old favorites! An incomplete list within a list: Ben himself (of course), his wife Rose, his disreputable friend Hannibal, the sort of backwoods City Guardsman Shaw...
(Ask game here; send me a number!)

Zorluklar ve Direnç: Güçlü Kalmanın Sanatı
✍🏻 SerZer
Her birimiz, farklı büyüklükte zorluklarla karşı karşıya kalırız.

This isn't choices related but what is going on with Six in the UK
If you don't want to read keep scrolling
Yesterday: Harriet Watson (Alt Seymour/Parr for 2019-2021 UK Tour Cast, Universal Super Swing 2022-2023) does an emergency cover Cleves for the matinee on the UK Tour with Izi Maxwell (current UK Tour Alt Boleyn/Howard) does a two show day as Parr (her third cover), meaning the first double Orange Alt Show.
Today:
West End:
Cancelled Matinee.
Evening Show: Meg Dixon Brasil as Aragon (Super Swing) Claudia Kariuki as Seymour (Emergency Cover, former Principal Seymour), Danielle Rose as Howard (Newly Added Alt Boleyn/Seymour/Howard). Boleyn, Cleves, and Parr are played by the principals
Uk Tour:
Matinee: Shakira Simpson as Aragon (Super Swing), Harriet Watson as Boleyn (Emergency Cover), Ellie Jane Grant as Cleves (current UK Tour Alt Aragon/Cleves), Izi Maxwell as Howard (current UK Tour Alt Boleyn/Howard). Seymour and Parr were played by Principals.
Evening: Shakira Simpson as Aragon, Izi Maxwell as Howard, Harriet Watson as Parr. Boleyn, Seymour, and Cleves are played by the principals
Also Tam (current UK Tour Alt Seymour/Parr) went on for Parr in the West End recently
And for the past couple months it doesn't seem like the orange Alts get a break from six
Leesa Tulley (former UK Tour Alt Boleyn/Howard 2022-2023, wearing the orange Alt costume for all covers now) going on for 3/6 queens (but has gone on for 4/6 in the West End in total) for many of the shows in the West End the last few months (which is less likely now with her starting rehearsals for "Why Am I So Single?")
Izi Maxwell (current UK Tour Alt Boleyn/Howard, wears orange for her 2nd and 3rd covers) did a run as Temporary Principal Boleyn and then not long after returning to Alt life, she did a cleves show (which she hadn't done since her debut almost a year ago) and did the two show day as parr (her 3rd cover)
Danielle Rose (former Alt Boleyn/Howard for both the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 West End Casts and wore orange for her 2nd and 3rd covers) is now back until September (she's wearing her costumes for B/H but is potentially wearing a black costume for Seymour since someone else is wearing her orange costume)
Hana Stewart (former Alt Seymour/Parr for the west end, wearing Orange for all covers and never went on for her their covers, has been an emergency cover many times before, was in the Broadway cast around two years ago as Alt Aragon/Seymour/Parr, never went on for S, wore a principal costume for A and went on for P once in her orange costume) is now back as a super swing in the West End till september as well, wearing orange.
Harriet Watson (former UK Tour Seymour/Parr, wearing Orange for all covers, has Emergency covered a lot, was a Universal Super Swing for a little while) is back doing emergency covers for the UK Tour (did 3 queens in 2 days, Cleves at yesterday's matinee, Boleyn at Today's matinee, and Parr at today's evening show)
It seems like Six keeps their orange Alts in the basement of the Vaudeville (where the West End production is) and pulls them out at moments notice.

Lyra (playing Hesty): I go to the nearest farm I can see.
DM: They haven't been affected by the Returned relatives, but they point out a little workers' cottage nearby.
Lyra: I go there and knock.
DM: A bronze tiefling opens the door. "Yeah?"
Lyra: I ask, "Do you have any dead relatives here who have returned recently?"
DM: They nod slowly. "Uncle Tam." They call and another tiefling with deeper bronze skin comes through. He looks perfectly healthy and alive, though his eyes shine with an eerie starlight.
Adam (playing Harriet): Don't like that.
Lyra: I say, "Hello. Did you recently return to life?"
DM: He nods.
Lyra: "Can you tell us what happened?"
DM: Blank look.
Lyra: "Where did you... wake up?"
DM: He says in a placid way, "In the barrow."
Lyra: "Right. Where's that?"
DM: He points.
Adam: I ask, "How did you die?"
DM: His head turns unnervingly to you. "Drowned."
Adam: "How long ago?"
DM: "Five years."
Lyra: Quite a while, then.
Andy (playing Diardi): Can I do a Heal check to get a feel for whether he's alive or dead or what?
DM: He does not appear to be undead in the traditional sense. However, you can feel what you would only describe as necro-celestial energy coming from him.
Andy: *impressed* Necro-celestial energy!
DM: The younger tiefling shows you out. On the doorstep they hesitate, then say, "My mother's really happy he's back, and it's great, but... if I'm being honest, it's a little creepy. He's not like he was before. I remember him being very animated, always involved in the community and strong opinions. Now... Well, you saw."
Lyra: I ask, "Do you know of anyone else who has a family member like this?"
Adam: We don't have time.
Lyra: I've got three minutes left, shh.
DM: They point out another nearby cottage.
Lyra: "Thank you."

Quite awhile ago I saw someone say that Brandon Sanderson handled being the fandoms’s stepfather with grace. I thought that was an excellent analogy - anything the fans didn’t like could be blamed on it being Brandon instead of RJ, and it’s true that he did things differently than RJ would have, as they’re different people.
But now the fandom has a new stepdad, and Brandon and Rafe are both handling it with grace. Reddit is full of people saying that they know Brandon must have objected to the changes for all of us, or hoping that Brandon would tell us what he thought and what he recommended. People losing their minds over every conceivable change in the adaptation. Some can’t believe there wasn’t a 20 minute sequence of Rand dragging Tam in episode 1. Others are furious for Abel Cauthon’s sake. A disturbing number of people are upset over the Whitecloaks’ characterization.
I just saw a Reddit post by Brandon, talking about the first few episodes, and it reminded me again of the stepfathers analogy. How lucky the Wheel of Time is to have such caring successors — and Harriet, who has seen the whole thing through from tEotW to S01, although she doesn’t make Reddit posts about the production. But reddit denizens are listening to Brandon, calming down, and thinking sensibly. And it’s an interesting post, from any perspective! It’s a little sneak peek behind the scenes.
