Presenting the head canon Jude is actualy quite bad with technology esspecialy around the time of TCP. Like shes passable with using it, but I love the idea of there being major gaps in her knowledge, even going back and forth between the fairie world. Esspecialy if we also consider the headcanon Vivi loves keeping up with mortal tech.

Jude getting self conscious when she finds out Vivi's old I pod nono is considerd outdated or thinking songs from a few years ago are relevant. Jude not understanding how to work a smart TV at Vivi's flat, or being lost when pop culture refrances are made. Jude being completely thrown when she goes to get take out, and is asked to order through the app.

I love all thease little things fueling Judes Isolation from the mortal realm and fueling her drive to ingratiate herself deeper in to Fairie.

Tbh as far as ultraman lore goes the one thing i've been thinking about most lately is probably the pod baby thing - and right after that the fact that they don't have pregnancy as a species so (afaik) they mix genes and that's how new ultras come to be. Point is. Any 2+ ultras can be parents.

What if charlie and alastor grew up togethr ?

For that to happen, Lucifer would have had to know about Alastor from the beginning*. I don't think he would have taken Alastor away from Nicaise, and she wouldn't have wanted to live in Hell, even if it did mean living in luxury. The guilt and the feelings of betrayal are still there - it certainly doesn't help his crumbling relationship with Lilith - but Lucifer wants to keep an eye on his friend and their child. So he peeks in on them on Earth, occasionally pops in to grant a couple small miracles or gifts. Never staying long just in case Heaven catches on.

Then Nicaise is murdered by her employer. And there is no way in hell that Lucifer is allowing that fucking piece of shit to keep her child! Lucifer books it over as soon as he can and finds Alastor sleeping in a shed and, oh, he is not happy. He doesn't kill Nicaise's murderer. It's enough to flash his wings, horns out, spitting flames as he informs the man that Hell is real and he's bound to it before disappearing with Alastor**.

So now, in just the span of a few days, Alastor: has witnessed his mother's violent murder, has been effectively kidnapped by her murderer, was forced to sleep in a shed that smells like dogs, found out that angels and demons are real and that his father is one, has been whisked away to live in another world that transforms him into a monster as soon as he enters it, and is now expected to get used to living with his mysterious father as well as a new step-mother and half-sister. Needless to say, it's a lot.

So naturally, he's a bit shaken when he first arrives in the Morningstar household. He doesn't speak and spends most of his time shut up in his new room which is way bigger than his old house was. Lucifer's awkwardly trying to balance giving him the space he needs and make him feel welcome. Lilith isn't terribly thrilled with the situation, but... Well, she seems to have a lot of compassion for her people. I don't think she would really turn out a traumatized child, but she's definitely going through some complicated emotions of her own.

Charlie has none of the reservations the grown ups have. In fact, she's suuuuuuuuuuper excited to meet her new little brother! Even if he doesn't look that much littler than her***. So she slips into his room, tries to drag him out of bed, pesters him, and generally just acts like an excitable, friendly child. As much as Lucifer and Lilith try to get her to give Alastor space and time to adjust, she keeps coming back. Her little brother looks so sad and she doesn't want him to be sad! She wants to help him feel happy!

She remains persistent, telling Alastor all about her home and family and insisting that he'll like it soon because her mom and dad are really nice and she loves him already and he'll love it there in Hell and...

She stops as she sees the tears start to roll down Alastor's face. Charlie begins to panic, thinking she's said something mean by accident, but then Alastor sobs out that he misses his maman and just wants to go home! Suddenly Charlie feels really bad. She doesn't know how to make things better. So she just stays. Sits next to him. Doesn't leave him alone. Sheds a few tears of her own.

Once Alastor's cried it out and tired himself out a bit, Charlie asks him what his mom was like. They spend all night talking about her. When Lucifer goes to check in on Alastor later, he finds both kids passed out on the floor in a pile of blankets.

It's still rough going from there on out, but Charlie plays a large part in helping Alastor heal after everything. Some things still stay the same. Lucifer and Lilith's marriage still struggles, she disappears, Lucifer pulls away from now both of his children in his depression. And Alastor still has a lot of anger. He doesn't really agree with Charlie's goal of redeeming sinners because he fully believes that some people just aren't worth redeeming.

Still, he goes with her whenever she searches for injured sinners after the exterminations. He and Vaggie actually get along a bit better here. They still snipe at each other quite a bit, but there's an almost friendly undercurrent to it. And although he doesn't really believe in the goal of redeeming sinners, he does go along with the Happy Hotel project just to help Charlie out. Doesn't stop him from mocking the idea every step of the way.

This version of Alastor hasn't really developed the Radio Demon persona. He doesn't exactly need to, given he's the Prince of Hell. But he's still Alastor and still cultivates a terrifying reputation for himself. Charlie's grown up with this Alastor though and knows the man behind the curtain. She's not always happy with how quick he is to suggest violence as a solution, but she also knows that when he sees a weaker demon being preyed upon by stronger ones, he'll step in.

He's also protective of Charlie, and usually takes it upon himself to step in and do things that he sees as necessary but he knows she wouldn't like. For example, after finding out how Valentino treated her when she went to the studio, Alastor pays his own visit in private and makes sure Valentino knows if he tries to pull any shit like that again, Alastor will pick apart his soul piece by wretched piece and scatter it across all the rings of hell. Charlie knows he did something when the next time she sees Valentino, the pimp screams bloody murder and throws himself out the nearest window.

(*Just imagine Lucifer, wings out, attempting to drunkenly climb out of Nicaise's window, only to get stuck, give up, and slump over on the floor.)

(**The old bastard spends the rest of his life donating his wealth to build orphanages and hospitals, helping the poor, and basically trying to buy his way into Heaven. It doesn't work and he's slaughtered during his first extermination in hell.)

(***Charlie at this point should be roughly a century old, but to be honest, I'm not entirely sure what that means for a half-angel half-demon like her. Did she age at a typical human rate until she reached young adulthood and then just stopped? Or did she just age very very slowly? I'm going with the second for the sake of this AU. I also have this theory that Lilith never actually died, and was transformed into a unique sort of demon simply by entering primordial Hell. And something similar happens to young Alastor when Lucifer brings him home.)

okay one thing I’ve really enjoyed w veilguard in the companion quests (and quests in general) is how close the characters will stand to each other. how they interact in these subtle ways. A reassuring touch to the arm, or a gentle grab of the arm to pull someone away. or the lapel touch from the lucanis romance scene. idk it’s nice that these subtle touches exist—it kinda makes the friendships feel that much more realistic

I don’t know what young person with their own laptop/computer/whatever device for the first time needs to hear this but:

Get yourself a goddamn password notebook. Label the pages alphabetically. Add your important log-in information, passwords, etc. Put the notebook in your underwear drawer and sleep easy knowing that if your device is stolen, trashed, or bricked, you will not spend three hours manually recreating new passwords or accounts.

I have this au. And it's convoluted and not very clear on the details. Essentially it's a time loop but the loop restarts back to when Edwin is 16 and in school. The first loop went as close to canon without the actual dying part (73 years in an asylum due to brain damage and a mental breakdown), the second loop Edwin is in his right mind and doing everything to prevent from losing it - except certain things are different (the year, his classmates, the attitudes). Things happen, but the most important thing is that he meets Charles and saves him. Fast forward 30 years and the loop restarts. That's where the story begins and the only clear thing in my mind is, that both Edwin and Charles remember bits and pieces of their lifetime together. This leads us to my favorite scene that I've thought of so far - the one where they see their teenage selves again:

Edwin, having finally found Charles: *makes a double take*

Edwin: Your piercings! They are gone!

Charles, having a moment: MY piercings?! Mate, what happened to YOURS!?!

Call me whatever kind of weirdo political label you like, but it is insane to me how de-emphasized non-human ecocide/genocide/specicde is.

I know that everyone - including myself - has massive anthropocentric bias when it comes to processing death, and the reasons for that make sense in the abstract (even if I think this should be shifted heavily.)

But, like, entire ecosystems are disappearing. Species, and the relationships between them, are literally being eradicated on a daily basis. We are barely even aware of most nonhuman culture, and it's getting destroyed at a rate beyond what we can measure; not only does the loss of life (by any metric - organism count, expected lifespan lost, biomass, etc) massively outstrip anything humans have ever experienced, but the loss of kinds of life or ways of life are being destroyed at, again, a rate beyond what anyone is bothering to quantify right now.

It makes sense to me when people are relatively unconcerned about this because they aren't aware of it. But when somebody has even a fractional understanding of the environmental devastation happening at every moment...even given the (tremendous) relative emotional weight that people place on human life, I don't understand how anybody can know about this but not prioritize it.

And unfortunately, even half-heartedly prioritizing nonhuman life massively shifts so many decisions in both day-to-day life and broad-spectrum politics that it feels like. A completely different set of conversations to be having. As environmental collapse roots deeper into mainstream political discussion, I feel like this is getting to be a more and more stark contrast - the political goals/desires of people who are becoming concerned about environmental collapse, purely for the potential human consequence, are so many steps away from the goals of environment-for-its-own-sake that things become almost untranslateable.

IDK. I think that in some ways I am feigning confusion to myself about this because it's....kind of necessary to do that...to continue having regular interactions with other human beings..................but on other levels, I am genuinely baffled.

The most profound anthropogenic environmental impacts of the last ~400 years were, charitably, mostly inadvertent; they stem from a combination of "acceptable losses," colonial alienation from the environment, and general ignorance as to the effects of various technological processes. At this point the consequences are clearly, and without exaggeration, apocalyptic; but most of the proposed mitigation strategies are about as blind as the initial processes, if not outright known to be inadequate.

There are very obvious actions that can be taken, which would clearly permit the greatest mitigation of the processes that are currently dominating the catastrophe - and there are similarly obvious obstacles to these actions, like, how do you get everyone to coordinate on global degrowth?

But what gets me, what really keeps me up at night, is that this is all entirely off the table for any "serious" discussion. Because large-scale degrowth, spinning down of industry, would lower many life expectancies and disrupt possibly every single human society, it's just...rejected out of hand no matter what. And again, I get it, loss of human life usually just feels worse than loss of nonhuman life, especially when it's your own community, but like...we're not even going to try and talk about this? We're not even going to try and plan out what it would look like?

The best alternative plans boil down to nuclear power, increased urbanization, electric cars, and space-based resource extraction. (Admittedly, while I don't love nuclear power, I would actually massively prefer it to hydro or wind.) But this is the basket into which we are putting the eggs of global food production? The idea of doing something that you know would cause significant human suffering, but massively benefit the entire globe, is so repugnant that you're going to go with....the fucking spacex weirdos??? As though that's not already causing incomprehensible levels of human and nonhuman suffering as we speak????? You think this is actually going to lead to a better average quality of life for humans, let alone all the other organisms, three centuries out??????? Hello???????????????
