Hello, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who have reached out to me and my family the past few months; for those who don't know, my mum and uncle passed away on the same day in June and then in November I lost my cat of 19 years, so lets just say 2024 can do one!

2025 brings me hope that the year will be better, and the worse of it will be over! I plan on getting back into creating CC streaming etc, but right now I am enjoying playing... well I was until my Pleasantview got corrupted due to user error, but no fear we have a new hood in the works! Pleasant Point - inspired by our very own @kashmiresims Kashmire Point!

Thanks to those who have been with me on discord calls and chats, especially those the last few months, you really helped me in more than one way and I would love to tag you all but I don't want to accidentally miss someone, but you all should know who you are!

What is to come from lordcrumps this year? Details under the cut!

So what shall we expect from lordcrumps in 2025 and beyond? That is a big question! So let's give a big answer! Below will be of some of my most asked questions, so hope I clear things up!

STREAMING - My first goal is to get Pleasant Point finished and ready to play. Once I have this I shall get back into streaming again, setting up a schedule and what not for those who are interested! You can follow here!

YOUTUBE - Can't tell you when, but I do plan on doing more on Youtube!

CUSTOM CONTENT - Everything that I have created CC form, I will go through and upload at some point. I have TONS of stuff that was meant to be in "sets" (sets like, every wall / every floor / entire stuff packs etc) but never got around to finishing due to my hyper-focus moving onto to something different. So instead of hoarding them, I will eventually get around to uploading them! Cos lets face it, I can always update at a later date!

TERRAIN DEFAULTS - My Pleasantview redo / Pleasant Point / Sim State University Redo all use custom terrain types (like lush, dirt, concrete etc), so they are not that user-friendly to just import and play sadly, so I want to create a tutorial set and videos to go along with them. I also have to have the CC released for them to work too! As well as tutorials on how to have multiple roads sets within in one hood / different roads for different terrain types.

REQUESTS - I still do not want to take requests, this is because I do not like to promise something and never deliver. I will continue doing what I want to do and sharing with of all you. Just assume that one day the entire Sims 4 will be converted by myself or other friends of lordcrumps.com *wink* @platinumaspiration *wink*

LORDCRUMPS.COM - This site is not going anywhere, well at least that is the plan, this will be the place for all of my released CC!

LORDCRUMPS DISCORD - Back in my streaming and YouTube days, I had a discord. Feel free to join, the plan is once all the existing CC is sorted and uploaded. Anything that needs play testing / unreleased stuff / sneaky conversions, will be posted in there plus any updates to existing CC.

LINUX - Thanks to @kashmiresims and @teaaddictyt i'm now a linux boi, so will update you how that goes - so far, I am very impressed.

My TOU, I have had a lot of questions about my "rules" and what not so I want to clear things up as much as possible.

I purchase the Sims 4 for me to convert the items to Sims 2, I simply upload to lordcrumps.com for prosperity reasons, and of course to share with you all.

Feel free to use / share / edit what ever you download from me. Not 1 person owns sims conversions; so I cannot lawfully dictate who does what with the downloads. What I will say is for authentic LordCrumps and co CC, it will be on lordcrumps.com, this is where any updates, fixes etc will be posted.

If you use CC for a lot and package up that to share, fine, just make sure they have all the dependencies needed (Sims 4 shadow file, master meshes etc) Just don't take entire packs and re upload and claim as your own? I only ask of this due to the nature of updating files with minor tweaks, updating and bugginess, if it is all linked to one place (my site) then all the updates will be there too.

Hair Defaults by Platasp - this is one download I will be strict on, do not upload anywhere else, this is because of how interconnected the hairs are to each other, removing one might break another. Any updates will be kept to lordcrumps or individual files on PlatAsp tumblr. lordcrumps.com is not planning on shutting down any time soon, so there is no need to re-upload anywhere else.

SIMS 4 CC CONVERSIONS - Yes, one day once The 4T2 conversions have been done, I will be working on converting CC for the Sims 4, but right now; no, unless its really spectacular. So please stop asking to convert stuff from Sims 4 creators as that does not interest me right now. The reasoning behind this is that if I start treating myself to CC items, I will get spoilt and not want to convert actual Sims 4 stuff, silly excuse I know, but I would like to convert the Sims 4 first. That would be cool.

Monsoon Games: Roadmap

I'll continue to tweak this rough roadmap according to the responses I get from the google form, but here's the plan (ideal-case) for the next 1-2 years!

If you haven't filled out the form yet, please do, as answers would be super valuable in helping me better gauge, prioritize, and budget my next steps as well as tweak the pricing for the tiers!

Phase 1: Now till end-2025

Full-time urban planner

Part-time game dev.

Likely to be mostly solo-work and choice-script based

Phase 2: Beginning 2026 till end 2026

Part/Full-time game dev

Likely to involve / bring in an artist/coder, depending on eventual decision on game format (ren'py, Godot or choicescript)

Phase 3: Beginning 2027

Launch phase 2 game

Re-evaluate what to do next, likely back to my full-time job, but to KIV this based on what happens in Phase 2

Phase 1a

Timeframe: now till end 2025

Scope: Keep rolling out choicescript updates for CT:OS and Merry Crisis. This will form the base of content for ko-fi/patreon (with subscribers continuing to get early-releases until these games are complete).

Phase 1b 

Timeframe: start sometime 2nd half of 2025, run concurrently till end 2025)

Scope: Write a choicescript 'concept demo' for 2 new games I've been haunted by over the past couple of years. (I'll release more info on this if I think they're viable). Whether or not they become more complex games, I'll at least have the choicescript demo. 

Phase 1c 

Timeframe: optional, but to start as soon as funding is obtained

Scope: Depending on interest, I want to consider doing a port to ren'py for Merry Crisis (or CT:OS, but likely MC) for a more visual-style game. This would involve either hiring a coder to help with the port, or doing it myself. More importantly, will need to commission art for this.

Monthly-subscriptions for both Phase 1a and 1b would include the following tiers: 

$3/month (existing): Just to support me :) 

$6/month (existing): Early-access links to CT:OS and Merry Crisis

$9/month (new tier): Same as above + Early-content (e.g. lore, character snippets & art, non-interactive stories, dev logs) for new game(s)

$12/month (might not go for this tier, but including just as a concept): Same as above + Expanded early-content (e.g. interactive choice-script based demo access)

Phase 2a

Timeframe: Beginning 2026, probably 6-9 months or more depending on scope

Scope: With CT:OS and Merry Crisis completed, I hope to then turn my sights to converting the choicescript demo created in phase 1b into actual complete games. This could either take the form of: 

A full choicescript game

A full ren'py (visual) game

A full Godot (2D) game

About 2-3 months into Phase 2a, I will also have enough content to launch a kickstarter, which would hopefully bring new backers on board and funds to speed-up production of the game(s). For folks who prefer supporting once-off instead, they'll also come in at this stage :) 

Phase 2b: 

Timeframe: Probably 6-9 months into 2026

Scope: Once there's a playable beta version of the game, I'll then do testing with subscribers and other beta-testers, and do de-bugging.

Timeframe: Start of 2027 onwards 

Scope: When at least 1 game is launched, hopefully by start of 2027, I'll re-evaluate and see what to set my sights on next! This probably also means going back to full-time urban planning :)

The Future

Time to establish what's going to happen from this point forwards.

The vast majority of you have been exceptionally patient this last year, and for that you have my deepest thanks. You've given me the time to not only write a book, but edit it, and send it off to literary agents, something I would have long given up on doing without the continued support of those who enjoy my writing.

Now that the book is off doing the rounds independently, it's time I got back to Myrk Mire.

Originally Myrk Mire was built in ChoiceScript, a scripting language created by the Choice of Games company. Choice of Games control what is done with their script, understandably, they own it. This does pose some restrictions. I can't, for example, release any paid material built using ChoiceScript unless it is directly through their publishing label. If I do publish under their label, I maintain IP or Intellectual Property Rights, however I also grant them the exclusive rights under perpetual license to publish the multiple choice game 'electronically'.

As you can see from the outline above, they do make exceptions for stories published in non-competing formats, and for sequels, prequels, and spin-offs. However, traditional publishing houses might require stricter control over IP, distribution, and exclusivity. It will only become more and more complicated as things progress, and being locked into a perpetual license agreement of any nature is not a decision to make lightly.

As some of you may be sensing from the tone of all this so far, I'm going to be moving Myrk Mire away from Choice of Games and ChoiceScript, and into a new medium/format.

After tinkering, and trialling with a few alternatives, I've decided to go with Renpy. Renpy, while largely used for visual novel style games and stories, provides a very workable framework for interactive fiction, and is an Open Source script, it isn't beholden to publishing contracts, licence cost, or exclusivity.

I'm not going to be diving into transferring Myrk Mire right away, it's a huge piece of writing, in an entirely different scripting language, and as previously stated, there are a lot of changes I want to implement with the cast. Instead, I'm creating a trial story: One Háḟest Day. My Patrons have been aware of all this for about a month or so, and have already seen some previews.

One Háḟest Day takes place in Aldmirham before the events of Myrk Mire, around the time the Main Character and the Wanderers first arrived in town. The reader will have the choice to follow one of the romanceable characters through a single day, with opportunities to explore their lives and relationships before the Main Character and Child come along. I hope it will provide a proving ground for the changes that previously caused debate, and an opportunity for people to try out the new format and interface.

My plan is to distribute One Háḟest Day through Itch.io, working with their early access framework and voluntary payments for such as soon as one of the character routes is ready to play from beginning to end, updating regularly with the other characters as they too are completed, and with additional features as required. Once the full game is complete, I will release a separate full build with a set minimum price that can be discussed with the community as we move forwards.

At the second, I'm aiming for a web hosted format and a desktop/laptop downloadable format, with phone compatibility to come later down the line once things are stable.

I will post production updates and info when I can to tumblr, though a lot of what I'm doing now is very python coding heavy, so perhaps not that interesting?

I've included some screenshots below of very early development, featuring a Character Log and Word Log that I hope will allow readers to more easily navigate the story. I'm toying with the idea of having a Mysteries Log as well that will keep track of snippets of information gleaned from each character's route, but that can be a tinkering feature for now.

what we'd be doing on stream is essentially game grumps Doodle Doods if that tracks. we'll just take a popular thing and draw the characters in funny ways. draw Brian Griffin as a slug or whatever. and we'll talk during that.

i won't always stream with a guest, but I'd like to often. when I'm not, I'd just be drawing whatever and/or taking art requests.

Just kidding. I had plans for a sequel for sure, hence the colon in college tennis: origin story (e.g. paving the way for other college tennis editions) but the more I think about it, the more I feel like a sequel where MC (and friends/ROs) are already in their mid 20s would be even more interesting.

I'd love to write a continuation where MC's already a pro tennis player on tour and maybe even having more slice-of-life elements (rent an apartment, sponsorship struggles etc.) Something like, Pro Tennis: Rising Star (idk I'm terrible at coming up with names).

Rayyan could be a rival (and teammate if they're competing for team USA), G would be a sports journalist(?), Sam would be a commentator + casual exhibition match player, with a successful vlog(?) on the side, Tobin would maybe be MC's profesh doubles partner (or maybe someone else's? Ooh drama 👀) or maybe training to be a coach?

And of course, everything in the WIP CLOSET I'd want to write one day, possibly even before I get around to CT:OS 2 (the fantasy elf izakaya/midnight diner + stardew valley-esque thing is something that has been knocking around my head for a long time, and same for the soccer game).

Wow that enthusiastic... well.. huh... You could be in luck... Depending on what people think :D I make no promises, but hear me out.

As one of the earlier posts said, I have some basic notes about other characters for the future. Some are more locked in than others. I said I would not talk about the other characters but this is not much of a character yet.

One of those notes just says "adventurer." Nothing else. Why? Because I had an idea recently and just wrote it down, and this is related to that.

Now it would be a long time before we actually get there.... but "FREAKISHLY tall buff and mean" does fit "adventurer", does it not? I have added "Potentially FREAKISHLY tall buff and mean" to my notes :D I did also find a note saying I should do a character with giant heritage... Hmm.....

The real question is, would this person be a more barbarian type (less armor) or more moving fortress on legs (heavy armor). Or something completely different.

Aimed to get a lot of work done for my personal statement today and I did focus on it, so much so that I didn't do much else. But also I just stared at the document and couldn't think of anything so many times, so I took a break and went back to it soon after, and then I decided to start writing anyway and after 1½ hrs I've got my first 5 lines... ;-;

I've out some things in bulletpoints or as a small list that I want to mention, and I'm using a guide from UCAS but I found that a few of questions I can just write pretty much the same thing and I'm not sure how to not just repeat myself 3 or 4 times.... I'll do more work for it tm. A Lot more.

Aside from that (although actually, linked to UCAS) I've kind of a tough decision to make about university choices. I might write about it more tomorrow but choice one is all good, choice two would involve convincing my parents a lot and leaving behind (at least for a few years) the life me and K planned with each other during uni..

Actually — a summary:

University A is nearby, I've visited it a lot and it looks amazing, has a ton of great student experiences, I'll get to go to uni with K and rent a flat or smt with her in our second year, don't know how many times afterward I'll see A (if at all), possibly joining uotc during one of the years (can't really imagine that in Uni B but it probably could still be possible), and it is an amazing university for which I've got 2 grade reductions (within applicable maths, physics and chemsitry courses), I've got the conditional offer already

University B is the next country over, I'd be leaving behind K and my family (others too but they'll probably be a lot further anyway), I will have A with me so I won't be alone and we'd help each other with the costs of things, in the second year R would be coming over and we'd all rent a place somewhere (but have to be in student halls for a year first..... I didn’t like the experience of it that I got in Uni A), the country is really beautiful, I've been in the area before and there's no langauge changes, I know very little about the uni, it's better than Uni A (plus it combines year in industry through placements and year abroad)

And I don't know....... I do know that friendships is not what you should follow in choices like this but it breakdms my heart thinking of abandoning K and our plan, even for just a few years..

And my wrist hurt like hell today and still does.

as i was scrolling on some studyblr tags, i've noticed that many of you still don't apply the SMART method of planning your goals. Instead, you just say you want to read more or take care of your body better. Those are nice ideas, but they won't really help you in practice.

so let's do them the SMART way

SMART means:

specific

measurable

achievable

relevant

time-bound

so if you want to read more, your goal can be to read 12 books a year or maybe 3 research papers every week. taking care of your body might mean going on a walk every day or making appointments with your doctors (i like to visit gynecologist at the start of the year, so i don't have to think about it later).

this year, i decided to challenge myself to go to the gym 100 times and to get basic blood tests done every 3 months as i've been getting sick easily last year
