Mom wanted to use up the last of the winter apples, threw in some pineapple chunks, and then some of our blueberries, with the result that there's a lovely purple tint to the fruit crisp :D

Summertime Baking Series #3- Crisps
Summertime baking therapy - #3 Crisps
Hello everybirdie!
Today we are going to be doing one of my simplest recipes that I know by heart. Fruit crisp. It is a staple dessert in my house. especially if we have an abundance of one particular fruit. Usually apples, but today it is frozen blueberries.
Its so simple. You are going to need: Fruit filling • fruit that you need to eat right away so it doesn't go bad. ( I have used apples, pears, and now with thus recipe blueberries) • sugar • flour For the topping: Brown sugar • oatmeal • flour • Spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, any other spice that will go with your fruit.
The reason I didn't give any measurements with the recipe is because each dish is going to be different. You really just have to eyeball it.
So we are going to be using the Cusinart Toaster Convection oven for this recipe. You could easily use the regular oven for this. However I wanted to stay true yo the series. So I baked it in the Convection oven.
I greased a square 9x9 pan with nonstick spray. And preheated the convection oven to 325 F ( for a regular oven it would be 350 F.)
Now for the time… This is actually kinda the tricky part of working with a convection oven, you have to reduce the time but at the same time you don't want to serve raw dessert. Yes, technically you could serve this raw and slightly get away with it. But them the topping would be crunchy. So bake this for about 10 MINUTES it's and the check on it, if you think it needs more time then add it. Like a wise woman once told me (my mom) " you can always add time you can't subtract it. Always go with the lowest number on the box then add time if it needs. "
I love this dish. It is not just a summer dish thougn. I'm always putting an apple crisp together in the middle of winter because apples are easy to get fresh where I live. I have also been known to do this recipe.with canned and frozen fruits.
I hope that you like this recipe. Feel free to.check out my other recipes.

Nectarine and Blueberry Crisp
It’s getting to be that time of year in Connecticut — when the produce is at its summer peak and you know there’s only about a month to eat it up and use it up before the Jewish holidays come and we focus more on festive dinners and heartier food.
The nectarines couldn’t be better than they are right now — so here’s a treat that’s perfect for now. But here’s the thing — you can freeze this and reheat for a holiday dinner. The recipe can be either dairy or dairy-free.
NECTARINE AND BLUEBERRY CRISP
1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup old fashioned oats
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
pinch of salt
1/2 cup butter (or use margarine, solid coconut oil, vegetable shortening or a combination of these)
3 large ripe nectarines or peaches
4 cups fresh blueberries
1/3 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the 1 cup flour, oats, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. Cut the butter into chunks and work into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly. Set aside. Cut the nectarines into chunks and place them in a bowl. Add the blueberries, sugar, lemon juice and flour and toss ingredients. Spoon into a baking dish. Top with the crumb mixture. Bake for about 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
Makes 8 servings

We had a boatload of beautiful, super ripe raspberries that needed eating, so I decided I'd make a raspberry crisp for Father's Day dessert. And boy was this delicous!
The only change I made was I also put in a couple of chopped peaches (because they were also ripe). Served it with French vanilla ice cream and had more servings than I should have.
Will definitely use this recipe again with a variety of fruits!

Prompt 250
So blame it on me making food-themed dragons, and failing to draw a full-body of the Ennead in the Class Pulls a Tiamat Aus. So Why not combine them- along with a hint of Ghosts are Dragons.
See, most, if not every, person in Amity Park, and even it’s surrounding areas, know better than to use the W word. It is borderline taboo to use the ‘wish’ word. But somebody got drunk, said a thing they shouldn’t have, and now there’s a bit of an issue.
Which honestly, they could have dealt with! Easily even! If not for the fact that erm, realms beings can get summoned. Meaning Desiree is well, gone. Gone long enough for the twenty-four hour mark to pass. And they can’t exactly punish a ghost for doing what’s in their nature and part of their very Core.
So.
It seems everyone is food themed now. Every ghost and liminal- though at least Amity was already weird and pretty hidden from the Outside nowadays- and even a few undead.
Honestly, Fright Knight should not look so terrifying with his new coloration and criss-cross patterns across his back. But well, he pulls it off, burnt-looking limbs and all. (Seriously, his flames look more like whip-cream now and he’s still somehow pulling it off- Dash wants to know his secret!
At least the nine of them haven’t gotten it too bad, probably. And Lunch Lady is pleased, so there’s that, but still. Jazz looks like a dragon sushi roll for Realm’s sake, and- okay that’s kind of funny. Vlad you can’t hide your new fruit-based appearance!
Hah!
Oh Realms there’ll need to be so much paperwork for th- Oh thank fuck someone is summoning them now. Alright, showtime! Time to be Heir of the Infinite, big scary nine headed dragon! Ignore the food-theme-ish guys!

Crisp and sweet Jackfruit (菠萝蜜) to add in some dietary fibre. Though it can be used as an ingredient in cooking, I preferred to just munch them fresh as it is. The fruit is also nutritious, containing a wide assortment of vitamins, including vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and folic acid, as well as fiber and protein.

Also, another note to point out with this recipe is that you can use it with canned fruits as well.
When I started doing this series I was worried about this character in particular because I knew that she was a vegan/vegetarian ( I'm sorry I don't know that much about Ganyu so I cannot remember exactly which one is correct.) I was racking my brain to figure it out and then one day we had a lot of pears in the house. My go-to when we have this much is fruit crisp. And then I was like "Wait! This is perfect for Ganyu because it is a vegan/vegetarian dish." It really doesn't have any dairy. Because even the "butter" that I use in the house is always margarine.
55. Baking therapy on a budget Ft. Genshin Characters: Ganyu Pear Crisp
Tumblr media
Hello, every birdy. Today we are going to be making a recipe that I have had throughout my life. And just now realized that it was vegetarian. If you just change one thing it becomes vegetarian. Which is normal to do anyway because that one thing is butter. And as most of you know, I don’t generally use butter. I use whatever is cheapest in the store. And right now it is a margarine spread.
Tumblr media
The reason I bring up the fact is that the recipe needs to be vegetarian. is because Ganyu is a canonical vegetarian. (Not Vegan like my baby brother told me. I was so confused about what recipe to do because I am not vegan. I can do Vegetarian recipes just fine, but not vegan.) She is one of Ninguang’s secretaries and lives in Liyue. And she is half-qilin Adeptus. Her favorite food is “Drink only spring water, eat only whole grains.” And that works out for this recipe because there are grains in the topping, with the oatmeal.
Tumblr media
The first thing you want to do is preheat your oven to 375 F. Grease the bottom and the sides of an 8-inch square pan with shortening or non-stick spray.
Tumblr media
This recipe is for apple crisp, but if you can interchange the apples for pears, and it will have the same effect. The link to the recipe and the measurements will be in the description down below. Feel free to check it out.
Tumblr media
You will need:
4 medium apples/pears
Brown sugar
All-purpose flour
Oats
Ground cinnamon
Ground nutmeg
Tumblr media
Slice your apple or pears to the desired size that you will want. And then place them in the pan.
Tumblr media
In a medium-sized bowl, you are going to stir in the remaining ingredients except for the optional cream. You want to mix this well.
Tumblr media
Sprinkle it over your fruit.
Tumblr media
Bake it for about 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and your fruit is tender when they are pierced with a fork.
Tumblr media
Serve warm, and optional cream or ice cream.
Tumblr media
Again, this is one of my favorite things to make and to have when we have an abundance of fruit in the house. It helps us use up all that we have. Because we don’t like throwing away food.
Tumblr media
I hope that you liked this recipe. Feel free to check it out for yourself. See you in the next post. Thank you.

(Future Robby here: This recipe works for any type of fruit, not just apples. If you have frozen peaches, you could easily make this and it will taste amazing. Also, feel free to experiment with the topping too. I recently made this recipe, with peach and the topping had AP flour, oatmeal, crushed-up graham crackers, crushed almonds, and a little brown sugar. Everyone was telling me that the topping was really good. And with that, I told them that I am glad that they liked it but they would probably never have it again.)
