i do think the post infinity war/engame superhero fatigue has made some of y’all a little unbearable because while there have been a lot of shitty movies and shows released from both marvel and dc, etc. and a lot of valid criticism directed towards that content, but i think y’all are now going into the new shit already assuming it’s bad and then finding any little detail to prove that. im here to tell you that if you operate under perfection or bust you’ll never be happy and nothing is ever going to be exactly the way you want it unless you make it yourself. and, sometimes something will be objectively good, and you still won’t like it, doesn’t mean you have to make up a reason for why it’s bad to justify not liking it, you can just not like something. anyway, even under the massive pile of shit that keeps getting thrown on us, there are also some gems being thrown in too

TBH I feel so bad for the modern generation of kids, as they're not really welcomed anywhere like they used to be. They don't get fun and extravagant characters, play zones, etc., they're just assumed to play on their phones and devices to keep quiet. They're not given real chances to interact with kids outside of schooling, they're not given mottos to use imagination, everything is compact and limited and somehow we hate them for it despite it being the adult's fault.

You know that moment where you have a crumb of free time and you could be writing, you could be finishing that fic, you could be catching up with your friends, you could take out your sketchbook and draw the most self-indulgent things, you could at least be reading or watching something interesting, but you happen to have a minor task that you don't want to do, your body is slightly uncomfortable from typical body things and your work has been a bit stressful today, so now you are in a restless scrolling more and opening the same three social media apps hoping that something will give you that hit and send your brain in motion and make you either work on tasks or do something fun.

i think something to keep in mind about The USAmerican Internet etc. is that that concept only applies to the internet in English - while neither USAmericans nor English speakers are even close to the majority of the world's population, the majority of English-speakers(/readers) (particularly native ones) ARE USAmericans. i think to some extent you get the same phenomenon with other languages - my (Latvian) family speak Russian, and a lot of the Russian Internet assumes that the reader...... is Russian

I don't have any experience with non english internet; so I'm sure what you say is true. it makes sense that a lot of people make assumptions based on language spoken.

but since English is so broadly used globally, I think that to assume everyone is american makes less sense. iirc the original post didn't deny americans were the majority of users. the chief complaint was that being a majority meant that they had a blindspot to people who aren't in america, or viewed foreign countries with a very american lens.

to be clear I don't ascribe fault or blame on americans. but imho it would go a long way for more americans to treat the english speaking internet as a shared global community, like everyone else has to
