when a hug is more romantic than any of the kisses
#affection that moves by inches and then all at once ToT#in the second to last one scene Wednesday takes a step back and then forward again and returns within arm's reach. a first!#and in last scene she doesn't step back when Enid all but tackles her- she holds her ground to receive it. another first!#she pulls back and sees plainly that Enid really needs the hug; and Wednesday sinks into it when she realizes she needs it too#so huge for a character who at the beginning rejected all shows of vulnerability; attachment; sympathy; is touch adverse#wednesday doesn't use both her hands- and fair to interpret that as an extension of how she is touch adverse#but i kind of see it like- she would use that hand to hold Enid like she's using her other hand#but she doesn't want to rub blood on Enid's jacket. even as she's desperate for contact and a hug; she's considerate#if i read into it- wednesday might still see herself as a raincloud who would tarnish the sunny day that is enid. so she holds back#by contrast- enid's hand is fully spread and grabbing as much of wednesday as she can; she digs her fingers in probably painfully#they're both so different; but wednesday's soft touch and enid's rough grip complement each other perfectly#wednesday

#fandom things#real#also- i can't add anything OP doesn't know- so i'm just saying#it's totally within the realm of the lived experience of some aroace people to have like#showed romantic affection to someone out of pressure or a sense of obligation... before they fully come to terms they are ace#like how allo lesbians might have had boyfriends at some point because of comphet before they realized it wasn't working at all?#not everyone arrives at where they are in a straight and linear path and we only end up excluding people when we try to rigidly define them#rambles#i will flop wildly- like a fish starved for water- between enjoying the platonic and romantic interpretations of characters and ships#if i feel strongly about platonic vs romantic expressions of love i like to think im directed by what is meaningful#at least what i personally feel is meaningful#and 'what is meaningful' can overlap so much with what is meaningful to characters in-text; and what is meaningful to the fan creator#and i dunno i'm rambling. basically like. things uniquely meaningful to a character or their dynamic with another character#is wayy more compelling to me than projecting a compulsory romance OR friendship with 'item 1 of 3 conventional trope for depicting x'#like there's a kiss. (one punch man 'OK' jpg). cool. now what are their individual shortcomings and how do they lift each other up??#challenge: what are the ways people can say they love each other without actually saying 'i love you' (platonic or romantic)#'as you wish' 'i can fix that' 'i cant carry it for you but i can carry you' 'i'm with you to the end of the line' famous examples

i cant be fucked to go find the actual post but u guys know the "if miss piggy was on drag race she would absolutely bring up the fracking" post, and then the comment that's like of course she would her boytoy is an environmentalist
ok first of all that comment always throws me because i think the reason the image works so well is cause it's something you know she'd do of her own accord. like i don't think ms piggy has ever in her life done something bc she was taking someone else's opinion into consideration
but anyway. my point is it made me realize that part of the reason i liked and agreed with the og post so much is cause ive always just assumed that like. ok so ms piggy has the whole vintage early hollywood diva thing going on right, like her whole deal is she's an aging diva who was huge in the 1940s and now its the 1960s and her lustre has faded but the magic's still there. and this comes across extremely strongly in the way she acts
well because of that, i think i've always subconsciously assumed it was an implicit part of her backstory that she participated in the walkout during the hollywood red scare in 1947. of course she would bring up the fracking, she was an early face of american communism. she was huffing and throwing her shawl over her shoulder at the huac interrogation
