The thing they don’t tell you when you get into Tatort Saarbrücken is that it’s a gateway drug to wanting to watch all the other Tatorts.
#seriously i’m a crime show junkie anyway so i guess i should’ve known i’d be vulnerable#i found myself googling box sets and availability on streaming services earlier#tatort saarbrücken#come for the sad gay german cops and stay for all the other cops#tatort

"this completely new show has a completely unique and amazing character/premise that's never existed before!" please, I'm begging you, watch older media. they're going to cancel your show in a year, but your fave is based on shows that had 258 episodes and a movie of content in the 50s & 80s. search for your blorbos! they need you!
#old media#blorbo#streaming services don't love you#archive.org and pluto and tubi and youtube hold all the old stuff lately#my mom found two episodes of a 60s show she remembered on archive.org#they are the last two episodes to exist online#but she treasures them#another show she bought bootleg DVD copies of bc the studio never made DVDs

ngl, doing both a Criterion Collection Challenge and an Anti-Criterion Collection Challenge at the same time on Letterboxd has convinced me to cancel my Criterion Channel subscription lol
#Basically you have to watch 52 movies that match that year's list of prompts over the year#For the Criterion Challenge they are all obvs Criterion Collection movies and for the Anti CC one they are movies not included in the CC#and at some point i realized i was having way more fun with the Anti CC one and rating almost all the Criterion watches as mid#and then i realized it's not so much the Criterion-worthy status that matters and makes it enjoyable#but more that i simply enjoy doing challenges and checking off checklists#And it's not like i haven't found some pretty good watches in the CC either... but you can find just as many elsewhere too#Maybe the thing i like best about the CC streaming service#is that they have lots of those behind the scenes bonus features and interviews that i miss from the DVD owning/renting days#Also it's CRAZY to me that some people have actually watched all 1600+ things in the Criterion Collection!!!#And then you read what they have to say about the experience and they're like 'yeah a lot of it was kinda filler / a waste of time tbh'#omggggg but you still did it anyway?#And dont even get me started on the people who try to physically own the entire collection on DVD......#movies#p

hi, yes, sorry, i can't carve out any free time to binge watch the new season of whatever hot show you've just dropped on your streaming service and will cancel next month. i have 12 seasons of a show that first aired in 2005 to watch, one episode per evening
#i appreciate some advantages of streaming services but i'm old-fashioned and enjoy cable tv#and anyway i just found a channel that is doing reruns of bones starting with s1 and i've never watched bones at its peak#so i think that's what's i'll be doing for the next few months lol#.

They could have even been like we wanna make new exciting content that we don’t think will work on YouTube and put that on a ‘streaming service’ whilst keeping the YouTube style stuff on YouTube
#(and a re make of a show from 5? years ago that was on a different YouTube channel isn’t new too high brow for YouTube content… like it’s go#od they could have kept that as the 2nd or 3rd new show on the service but they needed to HARD re brand for that special expense content#if they wanted it to seem more expensive then YouTube#they needed to pre film a catalog (even a small one) of very different content that is recognisably tv style content#watcher#like wanna make a documentary style/length show yeah that seems streaming service#(it would still need to be free to those who paid already for their other subscriptions#)#but it could have worked#hey guys we’re making new exciting projects they’re a little longer length and pricy so they’re just for Patreon members but we’ll still mak#e free let’s plays and read stories we found for free off the internet

the amount of people who point out Steven as some kind of money hungry villain manipulating Shane and Ryan in the whole Watcher debacle is so annoying. clearly they just liked Shane and Ryan a lot better and want to take culpability away from them. but all 3 of them made this decision, as far as we know they're all equally accountable. stop making conspiracies based off people's lives you don't know so you can continue to justify your parasocial relationship jfc
#lol i never posted about the channel here so it's kind of out of nowhere. but idk if people rlly read most of my txtposts anyways#but it's so weird. like there are so many comments like “I bet Steven is the one pulling the strings”#like WHAT?#i wasn't really into Steven's personality or shows either. he does kind of give off a materialistic impression with the eating gold#and the Tesla i just found out he has#but you don't know Shane and Ryan either. just bcus they gave off a more favorable impression doesn't mean they can't possibly do this#i find it way more likely this was a decision they all agreed on. if one of them had deep-seated secret doubts they should've spoken up#i really liked unsolved and i watched watcher a lot at the start (all of puppet history especially) but i've barely watched in like a year#like the videos where they had on like bdg and jarvis johnson and the one where they played minecraft#and i started some of the ghost files and puppet history that came out last year but kind of dropped off through the halfway point#so when the streaming announcement came out thankfully i felt like “yeah i'm glad i'm not as into this channel anymore”#“so the idea of buying a streaming service of a youtube channel for $6 a month doesn't even cross my mind”#so the sense of betrayal doesn't really run as deep#imagine if i'd been more into the last season of puppet history or it came out more recently#how much more would i be devastated over this?#my txtstuff

haven't watched the whole video but this Watcher stuff seems like a bad idea...
#idk i wasn't there for dropout#but i think they had a bigger network going on so it makes sense they did a streaming service#with watcher the most popular content is the shane and ryan stuff#followed by steven shows (that they said he isn't doing much of anymore because he is busy)#i personally haven't watched any others and i usually found out about those others once they have already been out for a while#and idk i've personally only watched like two or three or their shows and i don't even keep up with them that much. only when i'm bored lmao#watcher#my post

Is your fan character JB Decker based loosely on JB Fletcher from Murder She Wrote? 0:
yes, she is!! murder, she wrote is actually one of my favorite tv shows so i thought it'd be fun to take some inspiration from jess when creating j.b., (kinda like how grimoire is based off of gumshoe from ace attorney.) i guess you could say that j.b. and drew's family dynamic is somewhat inspired by jess and grady's, too, but that was more of a happy coincidence than direct inspiration.
i also thought it'd be cool if both of the deckers were inspired by female mystery protagonists so drew takes (obvious) inspiration from nancy drew.
#i'm happy that someone picked up on this hehe#bummer that peacock has murder she wrote locked behind a subscription now you used to be able to watch the whole series for free w/ ads#guess i need to invest in the dvd boxset now i'm not fucking with another streaming service#also just found out there's a point-and-click game for murder she wrote and it's up on myabandonware so 👀#v for valedictorian#oc : jb decker#asks#mj.txt
