i don't think terfs realise that this means the police can now refuse any woman, including cis women, their right to be searched by a female officer, if they think the woman is trans.

back when i had short hair in school, i was often called "young man" by teachers and mistaken for a boy. short hair, that's all it took. even when classmates would laugh, the teachers wouldn't be able to figure out why. i looked enough like a boy.

so if you're a cis woman with short hair, or a flat chest, or broad shoulders, or a square jaw, you could be denied your rights. unless you're willing to somehow prove you're cis, that is. i'm sure we can all imagine what that would entail, and it would be just as invasive as being searched to begin with. and even then, the police could just say that they think you've had gender reasssigment surgery and search you anyway. but hey, it's not as if cops have a history of sexually assaulting women or anything...

Y'know Akemi mentioned that men kept comparing her to pigs, but what she should have commented on was that the pig died either way. In her father's comparison the only shame was that they had to kill the pig before it was 𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. It was raised to be slaughtered by the farmer. In the other comparison, the pigs were eaten. By tigers or by the town, the pig doesn't care. And because the pigs had a few seconds of freedom, the townspeople went hungry. What is that teaching? It's teaching that she should sacrifice herself so others don't suffer just a little bit.

In light of the things RFK said about autistic people recently, I feel like it's important to remember where the term "Asperger's Syndrome" came from.

It was the nazi's way of sorting between "useful" autistic people that could still work for them, and "unwanted" autistic people that would be sent to the camps. We kept using the term until very recently to my memory, and I'm not one to speculate but I wouldn't be surprised if the distinction comes back into popularity in the near future. Or even becomes legally recognized.

This isn't about whether or not you personally paid your taxes or wrote a poem. People have value and a right to exist regardless of their ability to do those things, and the second we forget about that and say "oh but I'm not the kind of autistic person he's talking about, I'm useful" we've fallen directly back into the line of thinking they had in literal nazi germany.

Do you think Athena was a little like "shit, this is NOT the voice of reason I need" when she saw Buck was the one who got out? Not because she doesn't love him, but he's the one that will match her freak about getting them out the most out of the 118. Like Bobby, Hen, & Chim would be wild too, but at least more reasonable. Athena knows Buck will encourage her to shoot her gun at the doors, and she just might do it.

imma take a whole second to talk about the scene of buck calling out to his team bc. fuck. the raw but contained desperation. the clear sign of years passed and lessons learned and the forced calmness he knows he needs. the way he knows he’s talking to his sister but says “dispatch” anyway before breaking protocol. to think. and then act. he’s aware their lives depend on it. buck’s grown into a whole man, a whole teammate, and a whole firefighter, and i am in awe.
