3/17/23.
The Ballet are a two person band from New York City. They've been making music since 2006. I spent quite a bit of time this morning listening to their catalogue.
I immediately thought of Magnetic Fields, Belle and Sebastian or Jens Lekman. The lyrics recall the work of The Hidden Cameras. In other words this is sweet pop with a focus on "a detail-rich examination of contemporary queer life, with a particular focus on the stigmatised desires, pleasures, and relations of gay men."
The Ballet have previously released work on Fortuna Pop!, but "Daddy Issues" is being released by UK label Fika Recordings.

I was just wondering if anyone had any good name ideas for Nero's mum? I was going to give her my own name because of the meaning but then I remembered a character already has my name (Lucia lol, though it's pronounced differently as lu-chi-ah or lu-shah rather than loo-see-ah). I was thinking Bianca as it means white and I was playing off of Nelo Angelo and Nero, so black and white, but I also considered Rosa for rose? Please let me know if you have any good suggestions!!!!!

FORTUNA 🍀🕊️
named after the roman goddess of fate, FORTUNA is the debut album by the s-pop girl group, the fates. the album is filled with lush, unique melodies that perfectly compliments the women’s ethereal and peculiar charms. FORTUNA opens with an unbelievably dreamy and almost fairytale-like intro that melts into an euphorically rich and punchy deep-house title track. the album also includes songs ranging from calming bossa nova, upbeat saccharine pop, and r&b-tinged lullabies. the album itself perfectly captures the intense curiosity, nervousness, and giddiness of the three goddess-like figures and their hopeful late summer rendezvous with the oblivious morals they have observed from far, far away for their entire lives. one could only wonder for how long will these feelings of joy and wonder could last for these inquisitive deities before they have the chance to interact with the very same humans whose lives they have heavily impacted in both wonderful and terrifying ways.
album inclusions in higher quality below!

This full Moon has also been called the Long Night Moon (Mohican), as it rises during the “longest” nights of the year, near the December winter solstice. This name is doubly fitting because December’s full Moon shines above the horizon for a more extended period than most full Moons.
In Europe, ancient pagans called the December full Moon the “Moon Before Yule,” in honor of the Yuletide festival celebrating the return of the sun heralded by winter solstice.

“Yule” comes from Old English geol, which shares a history with the equivalent word from Old Norse, jól. Both these words referred to a midwinter festival centered around the winter solstice, which traditionally marked the halfway point of the winter season. After the solstice—the shortest day of the year—the days again begin to grow longer, so it’s thought that Yule was a celebration of the re-appearance of the Sun &the fertile land’s rebirth.
The celebration of Yule is one of the oldest winter celebrations in the world. Ancient people were hunters & spent most of their time outdoors. The seasons & weather played a significant part in their lives. The customs and traditions associated with it vary widely.
Scholars have connected the original celebrations of Yule to the Wild Hunt, the god Odin, and the heathen Anglo-Saxon Mōdraniht ("Mothers' Night")
Some believe it marks the rebirth of the Sun (the God) from the Earth (the Goddess) & the cold days of winter will soon begin to wane. The Goddess is seen in her virgin Maiden aspect
In towns and cities throughout Sweden during the Christmas season, large goats are constructed out of straw. It is thought that the tradition originated in ancient times, perhaps as a tribute to the god Thor, who was said to ride in a chariot pulled by goats. In Sweden the goat came to be associated with the Christmas celebration, and the Yule goat is now considered by many to be a companion or counterpart to Santa Claus.
Related festivals:
Christmas- An annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ as the son of God, primarily observed on December 25th
Hanukkah- A Jewish festival commemorating the recovery of Jerusalem & subsequent rededication of the Second Temple at the beginning of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire in the 2nd century BCE.
Hanukkah is observed for eight nights & days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, commonly called a menorah or hanukkiah.
Kwanzaa- An annual celebration of African-American culture from December 26 to January 1st, culminating in a communal feast called Karamu, usually on the sixth day. It was created by activist Maulana Karenga, based on African harvest festival traditions from various parts of West & Southeast Africa. Kwanzaa was first celebrated in 1966.
A Kwanzaa ceremony may include drumming and musical selections, libations, a reading of the African Pledge & the Principles of Blackness, reflection on the Pan-African colors, a discussion of the African principle of the day or a chapter in African history, a candle-lighting ritual, artistic performance & finally, a feast of faith (Karamu Ya Imani).
Saturnalia-
is an ancient Roman festival and holiday in honour of the god Saturn, held on 17 December of the Julian calendar & later expanded with festivities through to 23 December. The holiday was celebrated with a sacrifice at the Temple of Saturn, in the Roman Forum & a public banquet, followed by private gift-giving, continual partying & a carnival atmosphere that overturned Roman social norms: gambling was permitted & masters provided table service for their slaves as it was seen as a time of liberty for both slaves and freedmen alike.
A common custom was the election of a "King of the Saturnalia", who gave orders to people, which were followed & presided over the merrymaking. The gifts exchanged were usually gag gifts or small figurines made of wax or pottery known as sigillaria. The poet Catullus called it "the best of days".
Other celebrations:
Feast of Epona-
Eponalia is the feast day of Gaulish Goddess Epona, the Divine Mare & in the time of the Roman Empire it was celebrated on December 18th.
Epona is known to be one of a very few Gaulish deities whose names were spread to the rest of the Roman Empire. This seems to have happened because Roman cavalry units stationed in Gaul followed Her & adopted her as their Patroness. This may have started because many of the cavalry troops were conscripted from Gaul as they were superb horsemen. From Gaul the Romans took Epona with them including to Rome where She was given her own feast day on the 18 December. They worshipped her as Epona Augusta or Epona Regina & invoked her on behalf of the Emperor. She even had a shrine in the barracks of the Imperial Bodyguard.
Hunting of the Wren-
A traditional custom carried out on the Isle of Man on the 26 December, St. Stephen's Day. It consists of groups of people going around villages and towns singing and dancing a traditional song and dance around a decorated wren pole.
The earliest and most common folklore story accounting for the origin of hunt the wren tells of a fairy/enchantress/witch whose beauty lures the men of the Isle of Man to harm, for which she is chased and is changed into the form of a wren. It is therefore in punishment for her actions that the wren is hunted on St. Stephen's Day

What type of music the fellowship listens to (modern)
Aragorn:
-Country man
-Idk if he even actually listens to it, but I swear every guy on tinder has country music in their interests and I think it is just a go to answer
-“what kind of music do you like?” “Idk, country I guess”
-Likes the depressed indie artists
-✨John Mayer✨
Legolas:
-Idk if anyone is going to agree with me on this but I think he’s into metal music
-I also think he would love Eminem
-He knows every lyric
-Not the type to dance or even show that he’s listening to music, but he actually has music blasting in his ears
-Ik elves have like sensitive ears or whatever but let me have this one
-Wannabe emo kid
Boromir:
-I think he likes pop music but listens almost purely to covers
-“I knew them before they were famous” vibes
-Loves artists like Elton John, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, etc
-Also side note, this man cannot sing but absolutely goes hard at karaoke
Gimli:
-He’s a T-Swift fan
-Also Celine Dion
-I just think he likes the girl bosses
-P!nk, Halsey, and Shawn Mendez because I just thought of it so he must be a girl boss too
-Gets emotional listening to music; like totally matches the energy of the song
-Sometimes I just cry because an artist just sounds so good, and I think he would do the same
Frodo:
-The “aesthetic” music
-You know the ones that kinda go hard but also sound kinda bad if you actually listen to them?
-I was just listening to “Butch 4 Butch” by Rio Romeo and I just got the vibe that Frodo would vibe
Sam:
-I just feel like he likes rap music
-Not aggressive rap, but when songs have rap in them
-Post-Malone sort of vibes
-Also “TikTok songs” but just the part that’s played in the few seconds of the video
Merry:
-Classical music
-But like the classical music that goes hard
-Like “O Fortuna” maybe
-But he also sings JoJo Siwa and no one knows if it’s satire or genuine
-“KARMAS A BITCH!”
Pippin:
-Hozier boy
-The girls, the gays, and the Pippin ya know?
-But also K-Pop
-I don’t know anything about the genre but I have a friend who literally know every dance to every song from Black Pink and I think that’s how Pip would be
-He will have me watch him do the dances and I can just imagine Pippin doing the same thing; putting on little recitals and you just can’t say no
Gandalf:
-Joe Rogan podcasts
-Ok that’s a joke
-But definitely listens to podcasts, maybe ones about science
-Enjoys some good smooth jazz
-Gets real groovy when a saxophone starts playing
*Bonus Faramir and/or Eomer:
-I’ll be honest I don’t know these characters as well as I should
-but
-Recently my sister has had her earbuds in 24/7 and I asked her about it and she has apparently been listening to Dr Who audio dramas
-She is trying to convince me to listen too but frankly I’m too scared
-There was something about a sentient puddle?
-I just feel like one of the characters would do this and these are the two I decided on but lmk if I’m totally wrong

I have finally completed the quest I've been waiting since the beginning to play.
It was fine :p
Compared to the Second Dream or the War Within, there's no comparison. This was a main quest, but it had all the structure of a sidequest, just the Lotus and others talking while you did a normal mission. Although, the tone was shifted dramatically. Is this the Tam-Tara Deepcroft (Hard) of Warframe?
It's a main quest, but the structure—and rewards—are more in line with the "Warframe quests" they're calling them now—sidequests that just give you a new Warframe. I'm thinking about Limbo, Octavia, Gara, Atlas... stuff everyone else has probably long forgotten and done years ago, but me with my snail's pace :p
And yet it is a main quest, required to advance the story, and, the story touches on some points about Margulis and the Void. Which means that unlike some Warframes like Nidus or Mesa or Yareli, my boy Harrow is tied closely to the core lore! That's a point in favor of maining him :D
Warframe's story is few and far between—especially the way I play. This isn't Final Fantasy, that's for sure. This isn't even Destiny. But it's like I've said before, it's like getting to level 100 in Pac-Man and suddenly there's a cutscene and Pac-Man is going, "The ghosts... I can hear them in my sleep... they give me no peace... when will it end?" It's something that comes late, and suddenly recontextualizes the entire experience. When 200 hours in, you find out that Lotus saying "Wake up, Tenno" at the very very beginning wasn't talking to the Warframe statues. It's a different kind of weight and impact that FF, certainly, but it's weighty and impactful all the same.
So. In the Second Dream, you have flashback dialogue where Margulis is arguing with—I think Ballas?—about what to do with the Tenno. Margulis wants to protect them, and for that she's conviceted of treason and executed. At least, that's how it's framed. I didn't pick up on it, but when I watched some Second Dream reaction videos, those players and their chats pointed out that Margulis and the Lotus have the same voice. And, I believe there's a line about Margulis being blinded... So, if Margulis and Lotus are the same, then Lotus wears that mask because she's blind?
In the Chains of Harrow, Palladina mentions the "Blind Queen," and then addresses the Lotus as such. She's practically worshipping the Lotus at points. And, it hit me: that's entirely appropriate. I mean, who is the Lotus? She seems to be operating independently. There's hints of factions throughout the system, Cetus, Fortuna, Red Veil, Steel Meridian—we don't have a Russian novel's worth of a cast of characters, but, Lotus is unaffiliated with anything. But, think about it. She's in our ear constantly—in all our ears. Lotus is communicating with every Tenno, all at once. And, in the Second Dream, we saw some of her powers in action: she can move the entire Moon into the Void just like that—and bring it back. Warframes already have this incredible magical power—they're magic, no way around it, they are using magic—but the Lotus is just on another level.
Here's a spoiler, though. I've seen some streamers and such playing, just grinding Nightwave or something, but something was different for them... When the Lotus pops up with her generic dialogue, "You've found a fissure. Use reactant to crack open your relic," and what not... it doesn't say "Lotus." For them, it identifies her as "Margulis." So... Lotus must be Margulis. But... how? Wasn't Margulis executed? Why would Margulis have these godly powers? And... isn't Lotus actually Natah? How does any of this fit together?
Rhetorical questions, obviously, do not answer.
In the Chains of Harrow quest, we deal with a Tenno named Rell, who was, I guess, outside of the Lotus network. Rejected and cast away for being autistic or something, and left on their own, they, what, made direct, intimate contact with the Void? Rell constantly mentioned the man in the wall, which was dismissed as a hallucination—but, I'm guessing from that Lotus Eaters login screen that there's something to it. I mean, of course there's something to it, it's a video game story, weird dreams and hallucinations and stuff like that are always more real than Occam's Razor stuff. But, there was also a suggestion that the Void wasn't a place or something like a natural phenomenon; it was a being. The Void is someone.
Man in the wall... Lotus Eater... Margulis... Natah... Warframe's story is dripfeeding some deep lore, some secret narrative. It's, honestly, more in line with a Dark Souls than a Final Fantasy; it's not a story about what happens, it's a history about what happened. Piece by piece we're figuring out what happened in the Old War, what happened to the Tenno, who we are and where we came from. Needless to say, I really like stories like that. Soulsbornes where you're traveling through a broken land, piecing together what happened long ago, or something like No Man's Sky or Nightingale, where you just putter around building your base while these strange hints of some obscure history float around you.
Also? I miscalculated. For some reason, I thought The New War was right after Chains of Harrow. Actually, I have no idea when it happens, because for some reason, this quest doesn't pre-appear in the Codex. I have a dozen quests that say "Prerequisite: The New War" or "Prerequisite: Angels of Zariman" or something, teasing me with what's to come... but, The New War isn't among them. I'm given to think it's a very big deal, bigger than the Second Dream... I don't want to know anything about it at all, so don't say a word :D ...but my point is, I won't be getting to it today, after all. I need to let the Chains of Harrow soak for a bit. Then I have, what... Sacrifice? Apostle something? And then Prelude to War. I'm not doing more than one per... weekend, really. Gotta give it time to hit, y'know? So, it'll be a while. Maybe we'll do the New War for Christmas :p
Potential mains:
Hydroid. My classic, absolute boi. The tentacles are very convenient to get all the monsters to chill out—and the floaty damage helps me find them. He's got a really strong melee weapon and a Kuva Hek, so he's decent.
Hildryn. Her 3 and spamming 2 is super cool and just keeps her alive forever. Energy independent, which is nice. She's got the Amprex, too, so she can just chain-lightning a crown.
Harrow. Lore-appropriate, aesthetically awesome. He has Scourge Prime, Knell Prime, and War—my loremaster, I guess :p But his abilities aren't quite as potent at wiping out a room... But I like the Void Priest motif.
Baruuk. Again, I like the neutral-feeling, Patient Monk motif. The Doan skin is absolutely incredible. Once his 4 gets charged up he does more damage than anything, but outside of that he's got a strong but slow gun, Kuva Chakkhur, I think it's called, and the Broken Scepter for his melee, which is a little janky, but, again, stylistically appropriate. His name doesn't begin with H, though :\
I also love Lavos and Yareli, and I'm intersted in Oberon and Sevagoth. None of them are nearly as powerful, though.
...I just felt like typing. Thanks for reading :p
Remember, no spoilers!

When Anya looks at her Papa and Ma's relationship.
Side of Nikolai x Reader (Mini) + their OC children.
Theme: M rated.
A/N: A small drabble that my lovely moots encouraged me to publish. Thank you for letting me indulge in my little Anya thoughts.
Tumblr media
"Anya."
"Yea?"
"Ever thought what kind of love you want out of your future partner?"
Anya thought hard and long about the question her friend asked her weeks ago during the girl's sleepover.
What type of love does she want?
Quiet courtship? Passionate? Crazy fun partner??
"Ma."
"Yes Mah Bairn."
"Why did you pick Papa?"
Mini 's hand stopped in the middle of stirring the pot of stew. She sat the ladle down and turned to her daughter.
"I didn't choose your Papa. He chose me."
"He did?"
"Don't listen to your Ma. It was by fate I was granted an audience with the beautiful Goddess." Her Papa pop out of nowhere and circle his arm around her Ma. She giggled as Nikolai pulling her into his chest and dotting her face with kisses. “My beautiful, divine, Goddess Fortuna.”
"Ugh get a room." Lachie walked past his parents, rolling his eyes to grab a drink from the fridge, dodging a tea towel thrown at him by Nikolai darting back out of the room.
"But that's not saying your Ma fell in love with me because of my charm and charisma and excellent techni---mmmmmmm!!"
“NIK!!”
Mini stopped her husband from blabbering out more nonsense and started scolding him for saying inappropriate things in front of their children, but Nikolai just laughed it off.
Anya look at her parents as Nikolai continues to laugh and pulls a pouting Mini into his chest, mumbling words into her ears until a smile breaks out on her face again.
Her Papa worships the grounds her Ma walks on. Anya witnessed first hand the lengths a broken hearted and anger filled man went into revenge for his Lastochka taken away from him.
He will give up his life for her.
She often caught her Ma staring at her Papa, with a soft smile on her face.
Eyes follow his every move as he walks around the compound, listening to him with full attention when he talks, and automatically gravitate towards him when both of them are in the same room.
And the times she bumps into her parents, trying to have a quiet moment, away from the team, away from the chaos, sitting in a dark corner of the room, with only moonlight shining through the window.
Leaning against each other's forehead, her Papa holding onto her Ma tightly, like his life is depending on it.
Maybe that's the kind of love she wants.
She hopes oneday someone will show her that kind of love.

“I’d wish you luck, but that always seems hypocritical, given I’m the one handing it out~” -- Lady Luck
(Profile undercut)
Name: Lady Luck Pronouns: She/Her (the capitalization is necessary) Gender/sexuality: girlboss god and whatever gets the most people in the door! Jokes aside She really doesn’t care to pursue any sort of relationship that isn’t having more people under Her thumb, so, big mystery, that one.  Species: god (specifically She is Fortuna, the roman god over the Wheel of Fortune) Height: taller than anyone else in the room Age: ~2079 (popped into existence in 55 BC) Occupation pre-dungeons: She really didn’t have one, She jumped on Her whole dungeons schtick VERY early on. She was siphoning power off of the roman colosseum/betting pools at first, using it to create Her own pocket dimension, which She’s grown in size/shape/etc through the years Dungeon wish: She IS the dungeons. If you were to ask Her for Her own wish, She’d just laugh. But it’s power. Always has been. To be able to stand among the “major” gods and bring them to their knees, make them grovel for Her, make them sorry for ever daring to laugh at Her and think Her weak. And man is She SWIMMING in power right about now. In Her pocket dimension, She is queen. Of EVERYTHING. Literally none of the other gods can oppose Her if they step in. So. Yay :)
Fighting style: “a Lady doesn’t start fights, but She CAN finish them” but unironically. She goads people into throwing the first punch, making the first move, taking the first step, throwing the first stone. She digs Her claws into any flaw She can find and uses it to grind people to dust. Most of Her “fighting” is manipulation of the mental/emotional variety. “Luck” isn’t a physical concept, after all. But She does have enough power built up in Her little power dimension to physically ensnare things with Her smoke, which She can then use to throw/strangle/hit/etc etc others with, if She wants. Other than all that, there’s the obvious! Where She literally manipulates Her opponent’s luck so their hits never land/end up backfiring on them. Hard to beat someone who makes everything turn in Her own favor.  Strengths: extremely good at talking, to the point where She could charm a snake out of its own fangs and make lamb walk happily into its own slaughter. She’s got an EXTREMELY strong presence, which She leverages to Her advantage as a very effective intimidation tactic. She excels at subtle pushes, little words, tiny nudges to get things to go how She wants while seeming pretty hands off. And, to harken back to Her “wish…” She is all powerful in Her dungeons. She’s built up enough belief and terror in there to become an undeniable force of nature, like gravity. And outside? Oh, the world LOVES Her. She’s an aspiration, an idol, a success story people cheer on through the centuries. As a result there’s very little, if anything, that can touch Her in the dungeons. And since that’s where She stays, what strength doesn’t She have?  Weaknesses: Wouldn’t You Like To Know, Weathergirl :) from a more serious standpoint, though, She IS a god, and as such, is beholden to the same restrictions all the others are. Not only is She a god, She’s a MINOR god. Artificially inflating Her own power in the dungeons only goes so far. She has practically nothing if She steps outside. Luck isn’t a physical force, it isn’t something you can quantify, it isn’t something easy to define,  and at the root of it all, it’s not something everyone believes in. After all, what is a god to a nonbeliever?  Personality: Lady Luck is, above all else, a power hungry god. This informs everything She does, everything She thinks, everything She strives for. And She’s gotten damn good at putting on a show to get what She wants. She’s honed Her showman persona well, appearing coy and playful to Her audience while commanding an air of power and strength that nobody can really deny. In reality this translates to having a cruel iron grip on those around Her. The only reason She plays nice for the cameras is to lure more people in, and have a steady stream of positive belief streaming into the dungeons. She really doesn’t care what anyone thinks or feels toward Her. As long as they’re thinking about Her, She wins. She delights in finding the breaking point of others. The Lady relishes in watching others crumble, just to build them back up, and topple them again. She doesn’t care about anyone other than Herself. She’s quite vain, seeing Her actions as righteous in the face of the “ridicule” She faced early on from other gods. (Spoiler alert: nobody really bullied Her, She just thought the major gods were too smug and wanted to be one of them so so so very badly.) The Lady is extremely cunning and manipulative, patient when She needs to be, and ruthlessly efficient when She doesn’t. She’ll do anything to make Herself more powerful.  When it all comes down to it?  Everything is a game to Her. And She never, never loses.
