I've always thought it was equally adorable and confusing that when rain starts falling over Eden, Crowley seems to instinctively duck close to Aziraphale, who immediately places his wing over him.
Confusing because it seems like they don't know each other, but adorable because...well obviously.
In the light of us seeing Crowley doesn't seem to have all (if any) of his memories from his time as an angel (although I'm questioning that too), it gives me more pause.
Did Aziraphale cover Crowley because he remembered when they met?
Did he not know Crowley's name (then Crawly) because he'd never received Crowley's angelic name? Or did he pretend not to know because Crowley isn't supposed to know?
Did Crowley lean in instinctively out of muscle memory because they had a much longer relationship in heaven before The Fall and his body remembers the action?
Had they actually interacted before this event as angel and demon?
I have so many questions.

Crimes Against Existence
The High Queen Phantom has expressed concerns about the state of law within the Mortal Realms.
Walker, sensing a chance to redeem himself in her eyes, volunteers to go out and report the state of the lands to the Queen. She seems pensive, but agrees. Under strict conditions that Walker must NOT detain nor arrest any mortals that would not have been taken into custody or otherwise punished by mortal authorities in the same situation.
She hands him an addendum to his book the Duke has written up for him to use as reference while he operates in the Mortal Realms.
He reluctantly agrees and makes his way to a mortal settlement with that he can sense has strong criminal influence.
He follows the trail to one of most crime-infested cities on Earth: Gotham. His guards clean out an old office, and he sits himself down into a desk.
He turns on the TV and tunes into a random channel. A man who seems like he'd fit with the Far Frozen is locked in combat with a skilled mortal in some sort of outfit. After a bit of research, Walker learns these are the rogues and vigilantes.
Well, this explained quite a few of the High Queen's problems. Though she doesn't know of them just yet.
Now, how do we rectify that?

As I've gotten deeper in conversion, I have increasingly imagined jewish life throughout time. And what I mean by that is...
So when I looked at the Western Wall before this (maybe a few years ago), I just saw a wall. It held no deeper meaning than that. I imagined nothing when I saw that.
But now when I look at the wall or even when I'm praying idly, I'm imagining myself in the temple when it stood there. It's bright outside - a summer day so bright, I think the temple will blind me. A soft wind surrounds me. I'm stood in the middle of a huge crowd of people, simply observing. Women pass by me in small crowds, laughing and talking. Some of these women are wrangling their small children who keep running away, laughing like it's a game. And men walk by smelling of spices. The air is light, the city around bustling with people living fulfilling, meaningful jewish life. The wall now symbolizes that jewish life, and even though it's not just about the temple when I imagine it, it means something to me.
I think that's the result of seeing myself in judaism, turning the "you" into a "we," and I feel about this what I must imagine a married couple feels.
#jumblr#jew by choice#jewish conversion#personal thoughts tag#long post#obviously i know this isn't how the temple *must* have or even *would have* been#i know only a *little* about the temple#but when i see the western wall it isn't *just* about the temple to me. it's about the temple AND then some#i just think it's a really powerful thing to not just be a 'me' but an 'us'#and i have been feeling that more and more#i imagine a lot when i'm praying. i imagine a lot about jewish life through the thousands of years#so now i can't look at a picture of jews in shtetls without imagining *being* there#and that's of course how jewish history operates. the temple happened *to you* as well#to me the wall is an example of this thing where my heart *defaults* to judaism#i don't feel i have to make a special effort to think of myself as part of this#and of course i'm not *officially* jewish. however i also am closer to being jewish than i ever have been#and i feel that in myself. this was inevitable. i feel this is a certainty the way i feel the sun becoming a red giant is#i feel this with the same force that will happen when the milky way and andromeda galaxies collide#this is part of how my relationship with E'Y has developed and changed#i have a deeper *personal* connection with eretz yisrael and it's something special to me to have that relationship at all#and that's part of why i hesitate to talk about yisrael as a topic because it's personal and nuanced and vulnerable#even describing what i see when i think of this feels too vulnerable. but it's important enough that i can manage the discomfort#but i won't hesitate to protect this within me so please don't clown#i didn't even realize i felt this way until i talked it out with my rabbi. i love that guy. he's so cool...

– Beginnings.
Characters >> Lily Castellanos, Nathan Dixon (oc), Sebastian Castellanos Total >> 3.5k words Warnings >> Alcohol mention Context >> The first chapter of my own TEW3, taking place some months after the conclusion of the in-game events of TEW2! You can read more about it all here!
It snowed in Krimson City.
The sky had been the same dull gray color since sunrise, snowflakes slowly cascading down and covering the street in a thick blanket of snow. A heavy fog held the city tightly in its grasp– an eerie atmosphere hanging in the thin afternoon air and low-hanging clouds swallowing entire buildings whole– and with only limited visibility on the road, traffic was forced to crawl by in slow motion.
While not an unseen phenomenon, it was far from a common sight for early January, only days after Nathan’s birthday. He had spent that day snowed in in his little apartment, had celebrated it alone; not as if it mattered much, he doubted Kid even knew and besides his ex-colleague from MOBIUS he severely lacked other friends to hang out with those days.
He stood motionless at the fence of the small playground located in Krimson City’s public park, gloved hands stuffed deep in the pockets of his long, black coat with the collar popped up to shield the lower half of his face from the occasional sharp gust of wind. He had not moved in a while, shoulders and tousled black hair covered in a thin layer of fine white powder, frost nipping away at the tip of his nose as his eyes followed a group of kids excitedly running around.
It did not take a genius to notice Lily was significantly older than the others there, but none of the kids seemed to mind. It came as no surprise to Nathan to see her there– she had not once lost her playfulness even after everything MOBIUS had put her through, and without a proper outlet for it in all her years trapped in the shadow organization it only made sense for her to want to have a chance at spending the remainder of her childhood like she had always been supposed to.
He watched in silence as she scooped up some snow in her pink and orange mittens, wincing when one of the other kids threw a snowball directly at her face; she was smiling, though, and quickly pressed the snow together to then hurl it back, the surprisingly well-aimed attempt hitting someone else on the back of their coat.
‘You’re startin’ to freak out the other parents, standing there like that.’
The corners of Nathan’s mouth lightly curled up upon hearing the familiar, low voice, not needing to turn his head to know who joined him on the other side of the fence.
‘Was starting to wonder how long it’d take for you to notice me,’ he said, his own voice a little rougher than usual on account of the cold, and his severe lack of proper rest in the past few weeks. ‘Was gonna give you another five minutes before I’d walk over to introduce myself. You’re getting slow.’
‘I’m getting comfortable,’ Sebastian Castellanos corrected him with a scoff, returning Lily’s little wave as she ran by the both of them– Nathan merely greeted her with a single nod of his head– before quickly shoving his hand back in the pocket of his green jacket.
‘No need to keep my eyes up anymore, Nate. Threat’s gone, MOBIUS’ gone. Life’s improving day by day.’
‘Good.’
Nathan wished he shared Sebastian’s sentiment.
If anything, life had turned rather sour for him after they had successfully gotten rid of a large chunk of MOBIUS several months ago. He had never expected to walk away from it alive to begin with– and now, without the steady income the organization had provided him with for years, he found himself struggling to get by.
He glanced to his right, gaze briefly meeting that of the ex-detective before he quickly averted his eyes and let them wander back to the playground, trailing over the various snow-covered playground sets.
Sebastian looked good, healthy– much better than the state he’d been in when Nathan had last seen him all those months ago. Part of him regretted not reaching out sooner, the sudden reconnection now an obvious sign that something was wrong; though the wiser part of him knew that had he stuck around the Castellanos family they would not have been able to move on and heal, which was the last thing he would have wanted to be responsible for.
‘What about you?’ Sebastian quietly asked, as if he’d been able to sense Nathan’s melancholy. ‘You look like you haven’t slept in days.’
Nathan scoffed, slightly tilting his head to look at his feet and he absently kicked some snow off his boots. ‘That obvious? Sure feels like it.’
He had teamed up with Juli Kidman to deal with the remainder of MOBIUS, after the Union incident. Of course the destruction of the STEM environment hadn’t led to the fall of the whole organization– it would’ve been stupid of them to link all of their employees directly to the mainframe of a single STEM device, despite the Superiors’ obvious lack of knowledge concerning the technology– and while MOBIUS had suffered massive losses, it would only be a matter of time before they would regroup.
But he was not there to talk to Sebastian about how their hunt was going.
Something else had come up.
Nathan’s silence did not go unnoticed and Sebastian turned toward him, leaning sideways against the fence with a concerned look in his eyes. He did not need to say anything– and neither did Nathan, as he slowly pulled his hands out of his pockets and removed one of his black, leather gloves.
The pale top of his left hand had a burned appearance, as if fire had scorched away skin and flesh– the wound only partially healed leaving it broken and torn clinging closely to his veins and bones. Though despite how recent he had received the scar, its appearance instead implied years long possession, and despite its severity it did not hurt at all.
He could tell by the look on Sebastian’s face the scar reminded him of someone.
‘Now, I know what you’re gonna say–’ Nathan started, but Sebastian cut him off.
‘I can’t do this, Nathan. I have a daughter–’
‘–I know.’
His voice came out a lot sharper than he had meant for.
‘I’m not asking anything of you,’ he said, his heartbeat pounding in the back of his throat.
‘Not this time.’
It had started as police radio chatter.
Late in the afternoon, Nathan had already been getting ready to go home. Kid had picked up a mention of Beacon– its doors long closed for the public yet the building remained in the heart of Krimson City, left to rot and wither away– supposed ghostly activity reported within its decaying walls, and she had wanted to investigate.
Nathan sharply exhaled and put his glove back on, exposed fingers growing numb in the freezing winter air. He leaned forward with his arms on the fence, to move a little closer to Sebastian; as if he was afraid someone would overhear them, as if they could make sense out of any of it to begin with.
‘He’s back, Sebastian,’ he defeatedly stated, and the other man lowered his gaze. ‘I saw him. He did this to me.’
‘Impossible.’
‘Wish it was.’
Despite hearing many tales, and having worked on his project for years as developer within the MOBIUS branch he had been part of, Nathan had never seen or met Ruvik face to face. The brilliant mind behind the STEM technology had always remained in the shadows; up until his death, after which his brain had become the core of MOBIUS’ very first STEM device.
Naturally so, when Nathan had run into the man while wandering the abandoned hallways of Beacon, his first assumption had been that he was asleep– followed by a brief moment of panic in which he had believed he was dead, or somehow back in STEM.
But Ruvik had touched him– had forcefully grabbed his hand to make him drop his gun and had left a burn similar to his own scars– and had then vanished the second Kidman had yelled out Nathan’s name, the old and presumed broken STEM device in the room next door whirring and humming as if it had never been deactivated in the first place.
‘I’m here to warn you,’ Nathan softly continued, eyes fixed on a random spot in the bright snow covering the playground and thumb absently running over the gloved back of his scarred hand.
‘We don’t know yet what exactly he’s here for, what exactly he’s tryin’ to do. Investigating as we speak, but– shit’s looking serious. Somehow reverse engineered the STEM signal to reach outward, expand into reality. Push itself out rather than draw people in.’
‘Meaning?’
‘Similar to the wireless connection that pulled you into STEM the first time round, but– without being pulled in.’ Nathan had to bite his tongue to stop himself from getting too technical. ‘An– An active environment in our world, if you follow, rather than on the device’s mainframe. Signal seems to be inactive still, but we’re gettin’ the readings. No idea how he’s planning to activate it yet.’
They had moved the device to their own headquarters, on the outskirts of town. Had needed to connect it to the second prototype– the device that had supported the Union environment, which they had taken from MOBIUS’ headquarters after wiping out its agents– in order to gain access to the mainframe, get any data extracted from it in the first place.
Their initial hope had been that it was nothing more than echoes– malfunctions in the STEM device caused by neglect promptly activating the wireless signal allowing shades from within to wander the Beacon hallways– anything but Ruvik’s actual return, however that was even possible–
‘Daddy!’
Nathan blinked, drawn out of his thoughts by Lily’s voice. He watched her run over to the two of them– the front of her coat, face, and hair completely covered in snow and a bright smile on her face as she attempted to wipe some of it from her forehead, but if anything her mittens just further spread it out.
‘I’m getting cold,’ she said, squinting when Sebastian reached out to help her with the snow. ‘Can we go back home soon?’
‘Of course honey,’ he replied, barely able to mask the exhaustion in his voice now that Nathan had explained the situation to him– and for a brief moment it was as if they were back in Union, radioing back to Kidman from the momentary safety of one of their established safehouses. ‘Don’t want you catching a cold.’
Lily looked up at Nathan and smiled at him– but she was a smart kid, and he watched her expression change as she looked back up at her father, head slightly tilting before she shook it to get some strands of her ink black hair out of her face, the single white strand in her bangs– matching Nathan’s own– a grim and constant reminder of her mother’s fate.
‘Is everything alright?’ she asked, and Nathan couldn’t help but wonder if she still associated him with MOBIUS, if she still associated him with the tests and experiments they put her through and if she still associated him with the STEM device, meeting one another within in some facility in the Marrow where he was forced to watch over her like a vulture at all times, all to keep the system stable.
‘Nothing to worry about,’ he simply answered her, unsure if she would fall for his lie, but knowing it would give her infinitely more comfort than the truth ever could. ‘Just came to say hi.’
The breeze picked up, howling loudly in Nathan’s ears as if the whole city softly cried for him; the cold boring its way through his clothes and eating away at his skin, exposed or not, freezing him all the way down to the bone. He lowered his head– a futile attempt at shielding his face from the biting wind and snow, individual snowflakes cutting like knives across his forehead and cheekbones.
He watched Lily smile at both him and Sebastian again before running off to get back to the snowball fight for just a bit longer, diving behind the slide to get cover. His gaze was pulled back toward Sebastian– but said man appeared deep in thought, eyes pointedly fixed on something in the distance, head anywhere but in the present.
‘I gotta go back in,’ Nathan quietly continued; an unnecessary statement, the gravity of the situation like static in the air between the two of them, though to put it into words was to accept the harsh reality of it all– acknowledgement of what had to happen, what was going to happen, something he had not been able to do before.
‘It’s nothing like Union,’ Sebastian bluntly replied with a shake of his head, turning his back to the playground and resting heavily with his elbows on the fence. ‘He’s nothing like Stefano– nothing like Theodore. He doesn’t need a weapon or a core to draw his powers from, you get too close and it’s over. You understand?’
Nathan didn’t know what else to say.
He had never thought he’d have to go back into STEM after Union. He’d be alone this time round– no Sebastian by his side, no Kidman to radio back to. They had reconnected some old friends– Joseph, Yukiko, Esmeralda– but had no idea whether or not their consciousnesses would still be somewhere within STEM, and for all Nathan knew he would be diving into a world entirely of Ruvik’s creation, with the same horrifying creatures haunting it as last time, if not worse.
Of course he was terrified. All it took was one encounter with Anima and he would never see the light of day ever again.
‘You should go,’ Nathan said, pushing himself up from the fence and stuffing his hands back in the pockets of his coat, ‘get out of town while you still can. Grab a bag or two, grab Lily, take her on a– on a road trip up north or something, while we figure this out. Just in case he–’
He couldn’t finish his sentence. The thought of Ruvik succeeding and trapping the world in a constant state of STEM was something he would rather not think about.
‘–you know.’
An uncomfortable silence followed. And rightfully so– what else was there to say? The whole situation was ridiculous to begin with, and for Nathan to show up only now instead of at any other point in time, months of radio silence after nearly dying together in a simulation of reality lingering between real life and a dream–
He carefully watched as Sebastian shifted his weight from one foot to the other, able to study his face for longer now that the other man refused to make eye contact with him. He truly did look a lot better; Nathan could only assume the man had stopped drinking, and had been getting a much better night’s sleep.
Though despite the improvement in his appearance there was still that lingering sense of dread, the dark shadow that had washed over his face the second he had laid eyes on Nathan’s scarring and had realized what he had come to him for.
Nathan couldn’t blame him. But he’d had to let Sebastian know.
He licked his lips and nodded to no one in particular, ending the conversation himself by taking a small step back and turning back around to return to his car, drive home, drink himself blind and pass out to hopefully get some sleep in before he would have to dive back into his worst nightmare–
‘Hey.’
Sebastian’s hand on his upper arm was unexpected and Nathan hated how he could not stop himself from flinching, a reflex more than anything else, and he hated how it made Sebastian pull his hand away as if he’d touched fire, the tips of his fingers on Nathan’s body despite the layers he wore the first physical contact he had experienced in months.
‘Who is “we”?’ Sebastian quietly asked, briefly glancing behind him to see if Lily was still far enough away. A surprising question; though not out of character for the ex-detective, his curiosity piqued just enough for him to try and get a little more information out of Nathan before they would say goodbye and possibly never see each other again.
‘Me,’ Nathan plainly answered, ‘Juli. Used to be just us two but we gathered a team of old STEM developers to help us with this. They got moved on to other projects while we were working on Union– they removed their chips, came back for us.’
‘So all MOBIUS.’
Not even a question, simply a statement.
Nathan bit the inside of his cheek. ‘Ex MOBIUS.’
The atmosphere changed, a sharp tension bouncing between the two of them as Nathan straightened his back and lightly tilted up his chin. He couldn’t exactly place the look on the other man’s face, though by then knew him well enough to know his hesitation wasn’t caused by uncertainty, but moreso distrust.
‘Thought the program was meant to kill them all,’ Sebastian said, a somewhat hostile undertone in his voice that had not been there before.
‘Just our branch.’ Nathan paused, watching as Sebastian slowly nodded and mouthed a soundless “right”– not entirely sure what his reaction was supposed to mean, but he decided not to ask. ‘Already told you it runs a lot deeper than you thought.’
Myra's sacrifice had put an end to the Administrator's reign of terror– had destroyed his legacy, and all research and findings on the STEM system as designed by Ruvik and improved by MOBIUS. Whichever branches remained did not nearly have enough resources or knowledge to pull off something even remotely similar; and whatever scraps of code they could have gotten their hands on before Kidman and Nathan had wiped their systems clean would prove insufficient to provide them with a stable environment.
And even if they would make it that far– provided they’d be able to recreate the STEM device from written instructions alone, Ruvik's original blueprints lost to time and MOBIUS' own burned to a crisp in the aftermath of the Union incident's conclusion– the mental erosion Union's residents had suffered from and the Anima manifestations that had happened as a result had never been resolved, leaving any future STEM residents with the all but comforting promise of a similar fate.
'I'm diving in tomorrow,' Nathan said, knowing there was nothing else left to say. The breeze in the park was picking up again, sweeping snowflakes that were starting to feel more like hail than anything else into Nathan’s face with a lot more force than before, melting on collision and dripping into the collar of his shirt. 'First thing in the morning. Can’t waste any more time. In case you wanna come say goodbye–'
He reached into the pocket of his pants, then held out a note to Sebastian; handwritten, containing an address located on an abandoned warehouse site, not too far from Nathan's own home.
'–our headquarters.' He waited for Sebastian to take the note from him. 'No pressure, of course.'
No pressure.
The note was almost a blatant sign that Nathan wanted him to be there. He could not ask it of him directly– but gave him the option anyway, leaving the decision up to Sebastian instead.
But deep down Nathan knew that Sebastian knew that he really did not want to go back in alone– and if it had been up to him they had recruited Sebastian a week ago already, when things had first started to go wrong.
‘Do you have backup?’ Sebastian softly asked, as if he could look directly into Nathan’s head– asking the one question he had hoped for, with an answer to it that could easily enough change Sebastian’s mind about letting Nathan walk away if only he would play his cards right–
But despite how often he had practiced the entire conversation alone in his car, despite going over all the different things he could say at least a million times, just to get Sebastian to feel sorry for him– as selfish as it fucking was– Nathan found himself unable to speak.
He simply shook his head instead.
The other children and their parents were leaving, now. It was getting late, and colder, and Lily slowly wandered back to Sebastian to start dragging him back to the car if he were to take any longer than he already had.
Nathan looked up at the sky, eyes fluttering shut as he allowed more snow to drift down onto his ice cold skin, and he breathed in and out deeply before turning back to Sebastian.
‘They’re expecting more snowfall tonight,’ he said, locking eyes for only a split second and shooting a smile in his direction, as he began walking backwards into the direction of his car. ‘Don’t wait up. And– Drive safe, okay?’
Sebastian did not answer him.
It snowed in Krimson City, accompanied by a deafening silence weighing it down and choking it out, as if the whole city was expectantly holding its breath.
Nathan left.

#nuclearwriting#kinda nervous posting this and also genuinely don't know if i'll keep writing because i haven't actually written much more yet LOL#i do really wanna work more on this because it's just nice to have for myself. but i'm definitely not gonna do the one chapter a week#that i used to do for king of fools. i don't know how i managed to do that like genuinely don't ask me#but yeas hi =] nathan introduction <3 obviously he and sebastian have already worked together during tew2 but i didn't feel like#writing about all of that just because it's basically what happens in the game except nathan is there. commenting on everything#this is the first part of the story where he gets to actually lead a bit more himself rather than just following sebastian around#and most of it will be written from his perspective if i do end up writing more =]#if i did my math and timeline right nathan did in fact already work for mobius when ruvik was still alive. so logically they could have met#but they didn't... closest nathan got was when he led the operation to burn the victoriano estate down after ruvik was killed#and then he wasn't there for beacon so he didn't experience any of that. and obviously in union ruvik wasn't there#so him running into ruvik as described in this chapter is the very first time they came face to face with each other ^_^

I was talking to my friend who is very adamant about not watching arcane, but does enjoy listening to me rant about it. They told me Jinx was right not to show up at Sevika's rally. They pointed out it's kind of illogical for Piltover's Most Wanted to go to a large rally in the middle of the day in a public square and not expect to be arrested, and the crowd should have been too.
I couldn't really argue woth that because... yh upon retrospect, that plan was obviously going to fail. Why hold it in the middle of the day? Why out in public next to a popular statue where enforcers would inevitably be doing patrols, because Zaun's under occupation?
Practically every person in that crowd was on the wrong side of the law and nobody expected things to go wrong? The only one at that rally who knew they'd be arrested was Singed, who's also one of the two people who technically brought a weapon?
#arcane#arcane ramble#sevika#jinx arcane#that really was poor planning on Sevika's part i guess#why not have people meet at a more clandestine location at noght#obviously jinx didn't go cuz she didn't want to but it's weird that neither she nor sevika who have criminal backgrounds realized how#how unnecessarily risky the plan was#in fact everyone in that criwd knew how enforcers operated by then (the jinxers had clearly been arrested multiple times)#no one came with anything to defend themselves just in case?#the only person who knew they'd be arrested was singed... think about that#and he's the only one that technically came with a weapon#I'm chalking this all up to the plot just happening to happen to make warwick happen so zaunites can't really logic for now#even in an arc about zaun the zaunites are more passangers in their own story with only superficial agency

THIS IS FOR A MINECRAFT AU
cain beating himself up over the fact he didn't work for his position in any facet of his career (even from the start, when he was a child picked up by the schola progenium) meanwhile yarrick fought and worked for his position (even from the start, as an orphan fighting to survive as his homeworld was invaded by orks)
yarrick beating himself up over the fact that he should have been like cain. he should have been better. cain was a much better commissar than he was—his title proves it. cain was the hero of the imperium, yarrick was simply the hero of a single planet.
of course, it's not like their titles mean anything anymore, since they're... somewhere else. certainly nowhere in the imperium! (continued in the tags)
#that and the fact yarrick was legally dead when cain and jurgen were shunted through a tear in the fabric of the universe itself.#unfortunate soul placement made it so yarrick's spirit was dragged through as well! and restored to life. unfortunately for him anyways#he didn't ask to be resurrected! and certainly not a universe away on a world where the imperium doesn't even exist as a concept.#sure he made a home for himself (stole a military corporation's airship and lived in it) and sure he made friends... but he didn't want#this to happen in the first place. then he and two of his friends found cain alone at night (being swarmed by zombies and phantoms and#mechanical constructs)#of course they saved him and brought him back to the village they decided was their base of operations#but. that's THE ciaphas cain. so whatever happened didnt JUST happen to yarrick#and then one of yarrick's allies went out with cain to their previous base of operations (was invaded and cursed by the gods (lore reason#for us swapping to the cursed/hard mode of the modpack)#and they found jurgen there.#steampunk au!#my writing!#warhammer 40k#ciaphas cain#sebastian yarrick

Zuko’s stealing habits: Additional observation
I have already talked about Zuko’s stealing habits in second Book and came to the conclusion that, narrative and visually speaking, he stole food and money primarily for Iroh’s sake. Even stealing the ostrich horse from the kind Earth family that fed Zuko and Iroh seen at the beginning of the season (something I did not include in the previous part) was done for pragmatic reasons rather than out of spite or for fun. As in, the ostrich horse gave them additional advantage to avoid or run away from pursuit. Iroh was not happy about Zuko’s choice but he ultimately accepted it and never again scorned his nephew for taking that animal - the later episode showed the ostrich horse was vital for their escape from Rough Rhinos.
Interestingly, Zuko wasn’t that much prone to stealing and/or appropriating someone’s property in the previous season either. Especially not for a petty reason. The three examples (or as close to stealing it could be) that comes to my mind happened in:
Avatar Return, when Zuko took Aang’s staff that the young airbender used in fight against him and then offered willingly as a token of his surrender in exchange for leaving Katara and Sokka’s people in peace.
On his ship, the Banished Prince said:
This staff will make an excellent gift for my father.
What A) shows he didn’t think of keeping the last airbender’s weapon for himself and B) is a similar gesture done by Iroh, who sent little Zuko a knife of an Earth Kingdom's General that surrendered to him during the siege of Ba Sing Sai.
The Waterbender Scroll, during confrontation between captured Katara and Zuko:
Zuko: Tell me where he is and I won't hurt you or your brother. Katara: Go jump in the river! Zuko: Try to understand. I need to capture him to restore something I've lost, my honor. Perhaps in exchange I can restore something you've lost. Katara: My mother's necklace! How did you get that? Zuko: I didn't steal it, if that's what you're wondering. Tell me where he is.
And yes, Zuko did not steal the necklace, as Katara lost it when she helped imprisoned earthbenders to free themselves and Zuko found it in ruins of the workcamp. But he was willing to use it as a bargain chip and later, to track Aang with the help of June. From this episode he knew the necklace meant a great deal to Katara but for him it was a tool to fulfill his mission.
The Blue Spirit, we can assume Zuko, as the Blue Spirit, was infiltrating Fire Natin’s stronghold to steal information about Avatar and/or Zhao’s plans, as said knowledge was denied to the banished prince. And mind you, the first time we saw Blue Spirit at the fortress was long before Zhao’s people managed to capture Aang.

During the first season, Zuko may not have a strong moral opposition to destroying other people’s villages or pursuing Aang from one end of the world to another, or keeping Katara’s necklace but in general he does not steal unless it is necessary. He does not even take trophies from defeated enemies and/or attacked villages (Water Tribe and Kyoshi Island were left immediately once Aang either surrender or escape) with the exception of Aang’s staff that Zuko wished to give his father, no doubt to earn his respect. Which is something fitting the theme of the second Book.
But the most ironic thing about Zuko’s stealing habits? Iroh’s reaction. Our dear uncle Iroh was not happy that his nephew has no problem stealing - and is stealing to either provide them food and comfort to the level Iroh was used to (book II) or to fulfill his mission of capturing Avatar (book I). I mean, that is a reaction we should expect from a responsible adult and the fatherly figure, right? However in "Bato of the Water Tribe", Iroh himself was shown stealing perfumes while everyone was busy fighting

just because it smelled nice and there was no one to stop him. And from “Waterbender Scroll” episode we know Iroh had money to buy himself nice things on whim.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2a5b53d0fe874b3c802f3fd1408d163a/f55ec5154671eddd-98/s540x810/f61b81a439cecff93d8d4f47efbf0ffd2df3f9e2.jpg)
But nope, stealing from people that he helped Zuko and June to attack is all right yet he will be upset that his nephew is desperately trying to please his father by capturing Avatar by any means AND Iroh, by providing him food and comfort the older man was used to.
#atla#avatar: the last airbender#prince zuko#zuko#uncle iroh#i love iroh but he can be sometimes such a hypocrite#i'm not defending zuko's stealing habits but at least he operated on some moral sense#yeah stealing the ostrich horse was a bastard move when the strangers showed him and iroh such kindness but i believe the stealing#was a pragmatic choice and helped them survive#iroh stealing perfumes because no one is watching and like not giving a crap what is happening aroung him? yeah very responsible adult act#i know iroh was a good influence on zuko and father figure but we should be glad zuko didn't pick up iroh's worse traits lol

#like servant like sultana huh? but this time it's *Mahidevran* who apparently mirrors Gülşah as we see her rule later. both got these#positions so unexpectedly - it should've probably been someone else but it's them and they're *thrilled* as they can finally achieve what#they've always wanted through these promotions: to command power over these so despised people that have disrespected them; that they've#been embarrassed by; that have even taken their most cherished away; for Gülşah it's something more general/all-encompassing opposed by#many people while for Mahidevran it's something more specific opposed by a single person but both *feel* that same drive to seek#accountability and justice to the point of enacting revenge anyway. they both ultimately get carried away by that pull. they both operate#by letting people know they're in charge through pulling rank as an absolute lecturing that precise tradition and order that puts them#above brazenly issuing orders to discredit and/or outright punish those who've offended them: it's one person Mahi/Gülşah have a particular#beef with during their rules (Daye/Hürrem respectively) but Gülşah didn't show any resentment of Daye until that point thus Daye is more#the cumulative power Gülşah is starting to lord above while Hü is that exact hurt for Mahi bringing it all back to the general vs. personal#there're other notable differences here like in their speeches about order/tradition because quite a part of Mahi actually believes in#the good these traditions can bring and their necessity as much as she resents their restrictive ruthlessness but Gülşah doesn't believe in#any tradition really she just mirrors what she's seen and known her entire life using it just for her goals no more no less;#for Gülşah all will be okay only when they do what she says because she's so understandably insecure about her authority over *everyone*#while for Mahi all will be fine only when the order is kept in general including there being no unrest among the concubines#(hence peace; another pre-Manisa to post-Manisa transitional point perhaps?); they both want 2 certain ağas to “understand” but while they#say they do without much/any question for Mahi no matter how much they dislike it they are almost forced to by Gülşah and they don't hide#not their dislike but *disregard*; even Gülşah's short rule is telling of her position: SS dismissing her is completely out of her control#she's removed before even doing all that much - another symbolic reminder of how little agency she has - while SS dismissed Mahi because#she truly screwed up a lot in spite of her being framed this is the one time she was given *all* the agency; they both encounter the person#they're replaced with but with Gülşah it happens immediately to highlight the out-of-reach suddenness while with Mahi it happens afterwards#as a result almost. I included the bonus parallels because while Mahi didn't rule the harem then it was almost a set-up for that with a S2B#bent to it while Gülşah as treasurer highlights that this is indeed a harem within the harem; it's Mustafa's harem now as a preparation for#Manisa while also being a culmination of Gülşah's own arc (I kind of like that in spite of their relations being brought back to normal#Gülşah still doesn't have that many scenes with Mahi or in general compared to S01; it adds to this little rule's culminative feel)#also Mahi looking carefully through the concubines to truly pick who she thinks is best while Gülşah is just ecstatic to make calls at all!#magnificent century#muhteşem yüzyıl#mahidevran sultan#gulsah hatun

#anaesthetic does wonders for my skin which has always been weird to me#now onto the shitty stuff because i woke up during the surgery TWICE and after the second time they didn't bother give me something to numb#-the pain because it was nearly over?#and they did procedures on me. 1 - grab samples to see how far the cancer has spread and then#2 - cut out said cancer based off the results#because the last 2 operations they didn't cut it all out#but the real kicker here is they didn't wait for results and operated anyway#and therefore they potentially didn't get it all again and i'll need surgery again and today was a waste#anyway i started crying on the surgery table and couldn't stop and i was so fucking angry and tired#how have i been fucked over and over again like this like what the actual fuck is happening#it's like there's no communication or plenty of miscommunication#not just between me but the doctors too#the last few months have been so surreal like i feel like it's all a dream and can be undone because wtf. okay wait actually are we supposed to interpret it as that both saskias said "you go on without me" at the same time because in that case WHAT was highest light saskia doing while midst saskia was singing her silly little verse of the moon mining song....walking through the hallways of the central vault with explosives in her bag?? standing in the elevator while her friends attacked the archauditor???? kind of obsessed w the possibilities.
#midst podcast#midst spoilers#midst#i don't think the timeline really lines up tbh#the party went on for a WHILE and it seems like the breach operation didn't take more than half an hour or so to fall to shit#but maybe walking through the hallways did take longer than i thought because it sure SEEMS like that ending is supposed to sync up.#although as i'm looking back at the shindig transcript it's also kind of fun if she's already blown herself up by the time she tells#sherman that 'if anything important happens i'll fill you in later'#no need to ruin the festivities with uh. that!#someone's gotta put together the saskia cut of episodes 14 and 15 for me what a crazy contrast.......

pillow princess discourse posting makes me feel insane because it's like nobody acknowledges that the word itself underwent a definition shift. It makes me feel like I grew up in a parallel universe with a different internet from everybody else
#im not trying to start discourse im just venting. its is so unserious#personally if someone used the word for me i would wither and die and blow away as dust in the wind#because it didn't mean 'bottom' from 2000-2020(?) (2015? idk when it happened)#it carried the connotation of 'someone who does not care about their partner's pleasure in bed'#(and you can meaningfully debate if you like about how that can be unfairly conflated with bottoming)#but the definition shift has made it mean 'exclusively bottoms' (perhaps as an opposite of stone top)#so now people are like 'why do you hate people who only bottom' when nobody was saying that#i swear. i once had someone say to me 'yeah my gf is such a pillow princess haha' and i was ready to go to bat for the gf#like why are you complaining about your lover to me in this way. thats unfair to her#and then i realized we were not operating under the same definition and it was meant neutrally#it's a real adjustment to make I'll tell you that#and the internet takes that adjustment in bad faith as it is wont to do

wip for my hanahaki au ; zosan / lawsan
Where 2 years had changed so much and Sanji wanted something more than just fooling around but Zoro wanted to cut it off and focus on his training and dreams.
After reuniting Sabaody, Sanji contracts hanahaki disease. The only person who knew and who helped him cure the disease was Law. The situation had helped them get to know each other.
Sadly for Zoro he only realized who Sanji was to him during the incident in Zou. Even then it was already too late...
-------
He's not petty. Definitely not. Petty is for small-minded insecure people. And Roronoa Zoro is not that kind of person. And even if he was that kind of person, he still wouldn't be petty for this kind of reason, because that would only mean he cares and it gets under his skin. Surely, it doesn't.
Sanji could feed whoever the hell he wants to. But still. Onigiri was his thing. Right?
Rice and a good sea king meat mixed together. Even one of his moves is called onigiri. So why...
Zoro just kept his mouth shut and looked away. Downing booze to drown his thoughts and whatever he was feeling away. It was helping. It really did. The light buzz of the alcohol had able him to relax and enjoy the banquet. Even making him tolerate Hiyori more than he thought he could.
Mantra of words, trying so hard to keep his mind focus. "It's nothing. It doesn't matter. Everything is just fine" He is a master of his own thoughts. Discipline and meditation was one of the things he's very good at. Nothing could distract him. Well,
That was until... Until...
He suddenly wish that the grim reaper had taken him after fighting King that day.
In front of everyone, He saw how Sanji cough to try and get everyone's attention as he slowly reached out for Law's hand caressing them lovingly as he made them intertwined. Law's face flushed. His free hand covering his mouth lazely, his face leaning on his left side looking away as if hiding his face, evidently embarrassed. Sanji brought their intertwined hands together to his face for a kiss.
Everyone looked over curiously.
While Zoro tried everything in his power to remain stoic. But does he really need to? When the moment he saw everything he felt his heart freeze. He couldn't do or say anything. He felt his throat constricting. He felt so insignificant before Sanji. Like how he and everyone didn't exist and it was only him and Law in this world.
Sanji chuckled for a bit as he looked embarrassed Law softly. And then looked over at everyone with a big grin on his face.
He said,
"Traffy and I started dating."
Loud happy sounds of cheering and clapping roared on the banquet room. Everyone was so happy. Happy for them. Happy for him.
Sanji smiled so brightly. Zoro had never seen that smile before... he had never seen him looked so happy before.
Zoro's stomach churned. It felt like something was stuck on him throat and he wanted to throw up.
But he didn't. He didn't want to ruin this for the cook. Especially after the fuck up shit his family did to him in Whole Cake Island.
So instead he brought his sake cup on his mouth gulping everything in one go. Hoping the cup would hide his face.
He feigned happiness. He wanted to be happy for him too but he'd be lying because he can't. He can't when it was because of another person who was making him this happy.
Thankfully, no one else thought he was acting indifferently. He never was big on showing emotions anyway.
He only held his cup up as a sign of salute. And smile a little. Even if it felt force.
Because it was. He wanted to go. Away from here.
#surprised surprised zoro got hanahaki too#honestly this will forever be just a wip because i don't see zosan ending in this one i fear...#all I can say lawsan have a very good relationship in this fic compared to the tumultuous type of relationship zosan is...#I can't hate Zoro in this fic. thriller bark & sabaody traumatized him. he really locked in during the timeskip..#its just bad timing i guess#i made lawsan here very healthy and open and slow#Zoro was never mean to Sanji here. he just got gis priorities straight. and sanji can overthink sometimes.#he thought in Zoro's mind he's a distraction.#also the operation happened pre-dressroda#so yeah it might have affected what he did in zou. and also yes#law is one of the reason why he chose to cure himself of hanahaki... even if it meant to never love zoro again...#as for the ending I don't know... I really really wanna make zosan endgame but I don't want to fuck lawsan over just because im biased#honestly this is just one of those moments when I think abou unrequitedau but in Sanji's side plus a 'what if it didn't work out' moments

Alex Kralie making his Marble Hornets a comedy (or, at least having comedic elements) makes sense when you realize he’s been making comedy videos since he was a kid:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/dd302491fba83bc94f6e70302072297a/19413ea0dd80c8e3-1e/s540x810/f626e4429d654c09d9ef385a43b80de42c136dfd.jpg)
(the above image is taken from the now-defunct marble hornets website, which was meant to be alex’s production blog. this was up and running when clear lakes 44 was airing. all credit goes to @/timdoubleyou for helping archive this website. for more information, please view their post: https://www.tumblr.com/timdoubleyou/695979215525396480/marblehornetscom-was-the-in-universe-production?source=share&ref=_tumblr)
honestly, it really just makes you wonder, had everything not happened the way it did, if he would go on to continue making comedy films. if that would be his 'thing' so to say.
i accidentally drew this connection earlier and i cannot stop thinking about the possibilities.
#marble hornets#alex kralie#having big feelings about him today#signed in blood#also why did he have to choose THAT picture like#alex what happened one of your majors is photography#did the operator ruin your picture#it did didn't it

I'm working on something that's not Sorry It's Locked right now (perhaps something that i was inspired to pick up again by seeing Sickmutes skully and the operator art hehehe) so have a snippet of it.
kinda nsfw? I guess what Alex says kinda insinuates the situation they're in (...and y'know, smut is just what I write for the most part, i consider myself a smut writer) putting it under a thingy anyway because i talk a bit more about the fic, and that is definitely a bit nsfw
Anyway, no idea what this fic's gonna be called, but it's so self indulgent and has weird ass kinks in it. like, normal weird like tentacle sex and gunplay and super rough fucking, and also just, ones that are probably a little too weird to be considered normal weird? like getting filled with pitch black, inhuman cum so much it leaks out of your eyes and comes up your throat💀 so... yeah. theres that i guess.
I'm gonna have so much fun with it.
God knows why I ever stopped writing it. got caught up in sorry its locked probably
#I'm hoping to keep it to somewhere between 20-40k words? I think?#A lot of stuff happens in it. yknow. multiple rounds. the operator showing up and joining in. all that jazz#It might be a while before this one gets posted tho cos i wanna upload the whole thing at once#even if i have to split it into chapters to make it readable lol#idk. anyway#marble hornets#jaylex#who's surprised that its them again? not me#they're just so easy to project onto and they just seem the kinkiest to me#i love brian and tim but they always seem either vanilla or like they go down the heavy praise kinda route instead of sadism and all that#except for that one brilex fic i uploaded this morning. but that was super short so it doesnt count#i didn't really get to sink my teeth into their dynamic in that one like i will with this#sorry i'll shut up now

“Lockwood,” I said, “I need to apologize. About recently. I’ve not been myself.”
It was a tight corridor; we walked almost side by side, following the beam of light. His voice was calm and quiet in the dark. “Well, neither have I,” he said. “After what happened at the Wintergarden house, I’m afraid I haven’t treated you very well. I know I might’ve seemed standoffish. It’s just—” he took a deep breath—“I didn’t trust myself to be with you. I was too anxious about what might happen.”
I stepped carefully over a fallen stone. Water was pooling around our feet. “Um, what might happen in exactly what sense?”
“In an operative situation, when our lives were in danger. Your Talent is just so extraordinary, Lucy—yes, we go left here; I know it looks like sewage, but it’s algae, mostly—I mean, I heard you talking to that thing just now. It’s getting easier for you, isn’t it? It’s not just the skull anymore. It’s unique, your Talent, but it makes you so vulnerable. And I have to look out for you.”
Something knotted tightly in my chest. In the dark of my mind I saw again the palely smiling face. “No, Lockwood, you really don’t. You mustn’t. It’s not your responsibility to—”
“But it is, Luce. Look, I know I don’t talk about it, but it’s happened to me before. Losing someone dear to me. I can’t let it happen again.”
#okay see the thing is. lucy is too distracted by her memory of the fetch to notice. but Lockwood is lying through his TEETH here#he HAS to be#because what he’s telling her doesn’t make any sense at all#he’s afraid of what would happen in an operative sense when their lives are in danger because her Talent makes her vulnerable#and it’s his job to protect her and keep her safe?#that is NOT a reason to send her on jobs by herself. it’s not a reason to be standoffish!!#if anything if that was the reasoning he should have been tailing her EVERYWHERE never letting her work alone#but that’s NOT what he’s doing because that’s NOT what he meant when he said he didn't trust himself to be with her#Lockwood is standoffish and distant because for him. the moment at Wintergarden when her life was in danger. that was THE moment.#that was when he knew he was in love with her#and he’s TERRIFIED that if he gets too close! he’s not going to be able to make those snap decisions to keep her safe#because he’ll be too worried about what he has to lose#he has to keep his distance so that he’s able to make the sacrifice play.#he’s afraid he wouldn’t be able to give himself to save her if he had some happiness of his own to give up#and what makes it all so much worse is that when Lucy tells everyone she’s leaving#the reason she gives is BASICALLY the lie that Lockwood told her here#that she can’t be close to them because of her Talent#this is the closest Lockwood has ever come to a confession of the way he feels for her even though it’s all backward#and she uses it as a reason to leave#cate reads l&c
