(SPOILERS if you haven't seen the show yet):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mxy knocks over a display case that contains the Helmet of Fate. The mystical, god containing item, makes its first appearance, along with Doctor Fate, in More Fun Comics #55 (1940) the panels were done by Gardner Fox and Howard Sherman. The Helmet of Fate is the one controlling the body as it contains the god, Nabu, the Lord of Order. The helmet grants anyone who wears it magical powers and the mantle of the Doctor Fate. Usually the person most associated with the it is Kent Nelson but recent comics had Khalid Nassour take up the Doctor Fate name.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we see Mxy pass by the Cosmic Rod of Starman/Stargirl. In the
comics the original owner of the Cosmic Rod was Ted Knigh, the original Starman. The Cosmic Rod he wielded was about the size of a flashlight. It wasn't until Starman #4 (1994) (W: James Robinson, P: Tony Harris, I: Wade Von Grawbadger, C: Gregory Wright, L: John Workman) that his son, Jack Knight took the new and improved Cosmic Rod that his father made and used it for himself to take up the Starman name. The staff would then get passed on to Courtney Whitmore aka Stargirl who at the time took up the name Star-Spangled Kid, when Jack retired the Starman identity to raise his kid. Courtney took up the Starman name as Stargirl and used the Cosmic Rod to carry on the name. The Cosmic Rod gives its wielder flight and energy projection.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mr. Mxyzptlk then passes over a flight ring in the display. Very good homage to the Legion of Superheroes. Originally the LoSH wore belts to allow their members to fly, but Brainiac 5 was able to make flight rings so they can be less encumbered by the belts as seen in the panel from Adventure Comics #329 (1965) (W: Jerry Seigel, P&I: Jim Mooney, L: David Huffine). The LoSH are a group of young superheroes from the 31st century who are from various parts of the galaxy that fight evil as a team. The group was inspired by reading the history of what Superman did and they want to uphold his ideals and legacy. If they do show up in the show I'll definitely talk more about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In another display we see the Soultaker Sword. The sword is associated with Tatsu Yamashiro aka Katana. It and Katana make their first debut in the Brave and the Bold 200 (1983) (W: Mike Barr, P&I: Jim Aparo, C: Adrienne Roy, L: Jim Aparo). The sword was forged by Muramasa, who imbued it with magical properties where whoever kills with the sword, steals the souls of the victim's. Tatsu's husband and children were unfortunately slain by the sword, wielded by her brother-in-law and Tatsu has since then taken the sword and use it to avenged those who were slain by him. Because of the swords magical properties, it can be used to harm Kryptonians. Yes magic is a weakness for Superman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When we cut back to the League of Loises ship, Jalana goes Flamebird on everyone and name drops Comet. This is a very good homage to Comet the Super-Horse. Comet made his first debut in Adventure Comics 293 (1962) (W: Jerry Seigel, P: Curt Swan, I: George Klein, L: Milt Snapinn) Comet, along with Krypto the Super-Dog, Streaky the Super-Cat, and Beppo the Super-Monkey, formed the Legion of Super-Pets to save the Legion of Superheroes and Superboy from Brain-Globes of Rambat. Give Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow a read if you want to check out a really cool Comet story.

Krypton gets a name drop, Superman's home planet.

Someone on the MAwS team is a Kingdom Hearts fan.

Kryptonite is finally introduced in the show, the most well-known weakness of Superman's. Fun fact Kryptonite made its first appearance not in the comics but on the Adventures of Superman radio show in 1943. It wasn't until 6 years later in 1949 that Kryptonite is introduced in the comics in Superman #61.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At the League of Loises HQ we see MAwS Lois and Mxy walk down the hall with holographic projections of various Loises in the DC multiverse. The one on your left is obviously Lois Prime aka Fleischer Studios Lois the one on your right is Superman the Animated Series Lois. The one next to StAS Lois is Superwoman from Action Comics #60 (1943). The issue was created by Jerry Seigel and George Roussos where Lois dreams of having Superman's powers and saving the day.
Tumblr media
As Mxy searches for his hat we see him open up a cache of various weapons that the Loises have collected. Some of them are pretty recognizable like the Card Captor Sakura staff that's by Mxy's head, Guts's giant sword from Berserk above Mxy on the second shelf from the bottom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As the episode wraps up we see MAwS lois activate the data sphere she took from the headquarters and sees evil Supermen tearing up the city. The first we see is an homage to Overman from Animal Man #23 (1990) (W: Peter Milligan, P: Chas Truog, I: Mark Farmer, C: Tajana Wood, L: John Costanza) and the second is designed after Justice Lords Superman from the Justice League cartoon.
Overman is from a world where all superheroes are part of the government and each one is a clone from him. Justice Lords Superman is from the two-parter episode "A Better World" where his Flash died, Superman kills President Lex Luthor in retaliation and he and the Justice League become dictators. Gotta admit Superman does look pretty cool in that suit.
That will be it for this week's episodes Easter Eggs and references. If you made it this far down the post and want to see the other MAwS Easter Eggs and references post you can find them here:

SUPERMAN LOST no.9 (of 10) • cover art • Mike Deodato Jr [Dec 2023]
As a Green Lantern from Superman's past creates chaos in the present, Clark grapples with the idea of losing Lois for good. As her sickness rapidly escalates, Lex Luthor watches from the wings, waiting for the Man of Steel to crack under the pressure. Could karma be coming for the richest man in Metropolis?

GUYS THIS COMMENT FROM @silken-moons ON THE WEREWOLF AU HAS ME LOCKED IN.
silken-moons:
Wait....so what happened to Kon or Conner in this au ? Was he the one eaten since he was basically half human and kryptonian too assuming lex is human in this au too.
I am more than happy to elaborate.
Lex is a half-human half-werewolf hybrid like the reader. So Conner would be half-kryptonian and only a fourth werewolf. When Clark finds out about his existence he’s pissed (at first). Superman doesn’t hesitate before finding Luthor and melting his skull in with his laser vision. It’s quite the graphic scene, Conner unfortunately being there to witness it all.
Conner is pressed back into some crevice in Luthor's office, doing his best to calm his heart beat, stave off his on-coming panic attack, and pray that Superman won’t kill him. Clark of course finds him curled in on himself, hyperventilating, tears streaming down his teenage face.
Conner is blubbering, he thinks, trying to communicate some type of garbled “please” and “I’m sorry” and “don’t hurt me please”. Superman just critically eyes him before knocking the clone out. Now, in the beginning he was just planning on taking the clone to the Watch Tower to interrogate him and then kill him. Perhaps Jon would like the extra meat?
But after watching the clone wake up alone in one of the containment units, crying quietly to himself as he rocked back and forth, he started to feel a little bad. He thought back onto the way the clone had practically begged him for mercy through his own panic attack. He's read Lex Luthor's files on "Superboy", how this clone had no flight, was not invulnerable, and couldn't even throw out half of Clark's strength.
This clone was no threat, no, in fact he was a gift. Another Kryptonian (even if the clone was only half with human DNA in his mix). And even better, the clone boy had no ill intentions towards the JL, hell, the boy looked afraid that anyone even considered the idea. No, no, no, this boy, his boy, was so sweet.
From the way he leaned into Clarks palm when he caressed the sleeping boys face, to the way he clung to Clark and his approval like a touch starved puppy, Clark couldn't help himself. The only problem now was getting his Wife and Son on the same page. He knew werewolf customs, he knew what it meant for Conner (a name his new son had previously picked out).
It would probably be easier to convince Jon considering the poor kid's been wanting a sibling for a long time now (Jon is 8 right now, but still all the same crazy). Lois might take a bit more time, considering pack bonds and the human part of Conner. So with a heavy heart, he kisses his new baby goodnight, as he flies home for he night. Yes, its been a couple of weeks since Connors arrival and he still hasn't told his family. he plans to amend that today.
He expects growling and demands for flesh. he expects outrage from his wife, or even a calm cool collected "bring him to me". What he gets instead are demands from Lois to see Conner, her new son. Clark blinks in surprise before he's fumbling with his phone, opening up his camera role where has has a million new pictures of Conner. Lois only grabs his phone, cooing over the pictures with adoration in her eyes. Well, Clark is pleasantly surprised.
"You're not mad are you Lois?" Clark asks gently.
"Oh I'm not mad Smallville, I'm livid." She all but growls, a smile still etched on her face as she continues scrolling. "You knew about him for weeks, and didn't even bother letting me know. I had a son for weeks, and he's been by himself."
Clark winces. "I know Lois, I know. I just-I was just afraid that you wouldn't want him the way I do. That you'd rip him open, hell, even I considered it in the beginning!"
Lois looks up from his phone, a knowing smile, a soft one, on her face. "I know farm boy, I know. But its important that you remember we don't always kill and eat the weak. Sometimes, its nice to have something that you can love and take care of, something that relies on you and only you."
"is that what you have planned for Connor?"
"Of course. He's our son now, and after everything he's been through, its out job to keep him and Jon safe. Until he can prove himself capable, he's not leaving the den."
A content grin makes its way onto Clarks face. Oh how he loved his wife. "I wouldn't have it any other way Lois. I'll bring him here tomorrow. Now, lets go let our other little rascal know."
Lois smirks. "I agree. Lord knows he's been waiting to have a-"
"-I have a new brother!" Comes the familiar voice of Jon Kent, cutting his mother off in his excitement.
Clark raises his eyebrow fondly, feigning exasperation. "Did you listen in on our conversation Jonathan Samuel Lane-Kent?"
"Of course I did! Well-I didn't mean to, but I couldn't help it! You said I have a brother and I wanna see him!" Jon all but whines.
"Well honey, dad said he'd bring him home tomorrow okay."
"Really!?"
"You betcha. But Jon, you have to be gentle with him okay? He doesn't know werewolf or Kryptonian customs okay?" His dad says.
"Okay, I promise i'll be gentle." Jon swears, nodding up and down.
Lois sighs fondly. "And its important to know that he is part human, do you know what that means?"
"Mhm! It means that he's not allowed out the den or the house, and that its our job to protect him 'cause he's weak." Jon repeats from his memory.
"Good job Jon! You're going to be the best brother, I just know you are." His mom says.
Jon preens under the praise.
He can't wait to meet his new brother!
~~~~~
The next day arrives slower than anyone would have liked.
The morning sunlight filters through the sky as Clark flies Conner to him penthouse in Metropolis, cradling the boy carefully as he slumbers. Conner stirs in his arms, eyes fluttering open, a brief panic flashing in them until he meets Clark’s calm gaze.
“Where-where are we?” Conner mumbles, clutching at Clark’s shirt with a grip that feels hesitant, almost reluctant.
“We’re going home,” Clark replies, a small smile on his face. “Your new home. Your family’s waiting for you, Conner.”
Conner’s eyes widen, his mouth opening as if to protest, but the words die on his lips. His gaze shifts away, and he nods mutely, not quite daring to believe that this “family” will truly accept him. He’s felt so disposable for so long; he almost can’t imagine what it’s like to be wanted.
The penthouse doors open, and Lois stands there, her sharp gaze softening the instant she sees Conner. She steps forward, reaching out a hand in a silent invitation. Conner hesitates, clinging to Clark a little tighter, and Clark gives his shoulder a reassuring squeeze.
“It’s okay, Conner,” he murmurs. “I'm here for you.”
With a slow, tentative step, Conner reaches out, letting Lois pull him into a gentle hug. Her arms are firm around him, warm but unyielding, a silent promise of protection, though he senses the fierce strength just below the surface. She smooths his hair with surprising gentleness, her voice soft as she whispers, “Welcome home, Conner.”
Conner relaxes, allowing himself to take a deep, shuddering breath. This feels strange. He's never really had a home before. Luthor's compound was last place he felt safe, let alone a place he'd call home. And that word, that feeling-safe. He isn’t sure he's ever felt it outside Superman, sorry, his Dad's arms.
And isn't that a crazy thing, he has a Dad now. Superman, Clark Kent was his Dad.
Jon, standing just a few steps away, is practically vibrating with excitement. When Lois finally releases Conner, Jon bounds over, a wide grin on his face.
“Hi! I’m Jon, your brother!” He pauses, then adds, almost reverently, “I’ll keep you safe, I promise.”
Conner blinks in surprise, a faint blush creeping up his cheeks as he mumbles, “I-thank you, Jon.”
Lois places a hand on Jon’s shoulder, giving him a gentle squeeze. “Remember what we talked about, Jon. Conner’s still adjusting. Be patient with him.”
Jon nods enthusiastically, but there’s a possessive glint in his eyes as he looks at Conner, a silent vow to protect his new brother from anything—or anyone—that might threaten him. Conner notices this look, a strange chill running down his spine, but he says nothing.
As the day unfolds, Conner tries to settle into this new life, though it feels almost too good to be true. Lois and Clark are attentive, constantly ensuring he’s comfortable, while Jon barely leaves his side, eager to show him every corner of the penthouse, as if staking his claim. Meals are filled with warmth and laughter, and yet Conner can’t shake the feeling of being watched, almost obsessively.
That night, as Conner lies in the bed they’ve prepared for him, he hears the soft creak of footsteps outside his door. It opens quietly, and Clark steps inside, his face illuminated by the moonlight streaming in through the window. He walks over to the bed, looking down at Conner with an intense, unreadable expression.
“You’re part of this family now, Conner,” Clark says quietly, brushing a hand over Conner’s forehead in a strangely tender gesture. “Nothing will take you from us. Not anyone. You’re ours, do you understand?”
Conner nods, his throat tightening, unable to find words. Clark’s gaze softens, and he leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to Conner’s forehead before turning and leaving the room, leaving Conner alone with a flurry of conflicted feelings. For the first time in his life, he feels wanted, cherished, trapped, as though he’s become a prized possession in a family he can never escape.
But, maybe, a small voice inside him whispers, he doesn’t want to escape at all.
Well folks, here's more lore on relationships outside of the Batfam. Let me know chat, am I cooking? New chap, out soon!
“Isn’t this a predicament Superman? Your ex-lover and your best friend in such precarious situations, across the globe from each other. You’ll only have time to save one of them.” The LEDs of the monitors behind Luther seared into Clarks eyes but he refused to look away. Already his muscles were tensed, ready to dart away at any moment. “I wonder which one you will choose, I know which one I would.”
Luther smirked, eyeing the monitor that clearly displayed your panicked face as you struggled against the chains wrapped tightly around your soft body. “She is quite the fighter, isn’t she?”
“Why are you doing this Luther?” The man rolled his eyes, finally turning to look at Clark.
“Why wouldn’t I? You are a nuisance, self-righteous, and aggravatingly nosy. If I kill one of them, and I will, I think you’ll learn your lesson. So, here we are. Lois Lane, the only woman you have ever loved, suspended over a cliff somewhere in Europe,” Luther gestured to the image of Lois, her head raising as his voice repeated over the feed and Clark realised that they could both hear what was happening, “and your best friend. The woman who has never stopped supporting you, somewhere in the Pacific with an anchor attached to her, I’m sure you can imagine what her fate is.” The man had the audacity to laugh then, as your expression fell and you stopped struggling.
“You don’t have to do this Luther. Just let them go and I’ll spare you.”
Lex hummed. “You know, you’re right. This is quite boring by my standards, let’s shake it up.” Suddenly, a ground of masked men surrounded you, briefly blocking the camera before there was a scuffle and the feed cut off. Before Clark could react, another camera turned on, showing the criss-crossing metal beams of a crane as cables in the background shifted in the high winds. “Give them a minute, would you? Not all of us can move so quickly.”
“I’m going to rip you apart, molecule by molecule.” Red creeped into Clark’s vision, slowly casting a haze of rage over everything.
“Now, if you kill me, you won’t get a hint as to where your women are. So be a good boy and watch. Ah, there she is.” Two men had you by your arms as they dragged you through the crane’s walkway, your eyes squeezed shut. Clark knew how badly you hated heights, descending into panic attacks if he even mentioned taking you out on a flight. His chest burned with fear. “And now, we have a level playing field. So, who are we picking?”
Your chains were thrown onto the edge of the structure, almost out of the camera’s line of sight, the huge iron anchor balancing treacherously by your feet.
“Kal!” His eyes darted over to the second monitor where Lois was now fighting against a pulley that was quickly tugging her towards a sheer cliff face. Only her hands were bound by thick rope but he knew that as soon as her full body weight pulled on it, the rope would snap.
“What’s the hint?” He snarled, ripping his gaze back to Lex Luther who was now beaming.
——————
The cold wind was like knives against your exposed skin, cutting into every nerve on your body. You desperately prayed that you would go numb soon, not wanting your last moments on this Earth to be ones full of pain. Your nails bit into the palms of your hands as another gust of wind made the crane groan and sway. It was all you could do not to scream.
Yet you kept your mouth firmly shut because you knew that if you said or did anything now, it would only feed into Clark’s guilt. He was going to pick Lois and you wanted to give him peace of mind. You forced your eyes open to watch the sunset. Your death would not be quick, even with the dizzying height, it would not be enough to kill you. Instead, you would be dragged to the depths as salt water filled your lungs and your screams forcefully ripped from you.
You wouldn’t blame Clark as you sank, you hope that you could instead think about his smile as the dim light above you disappeared into the blue.
You would not tell him that you loved him, refused to leave that weight on his soul when he already carried so much pain within him. But you would imagine a life with him, a kid, maybe two in a small townhouse somewhere quiet, as the pressure and cold consumed you.
Lois’s voice crackled through the intercom by your head, distorted and warped. A band of fear wrapped tightly around your chest, pressing down harder than the metal chain keeping your arms pinned to your sides. You forced yourself to breathe in the salty air, knowing that it could be your last.
“I’ll be ok Clark, don’t worry about me. Just be happy, that’s all I’ve ever wanted for you.” And as the sun dipped below the horizon, you let your eyes shut again, your entire body relaxed. “I’ll be ok.”
Metal scrapped against metal. You were pulled forwards.
The wind screamed.
You could see the vivid blue of his eyes.
You were weightless.
You could hear his laughter.
The chains rattled.
You saw the moment you met him; the rain around you, a single umbrella between you.
The sound of waves crashing was getting closer.
He was always so kind, so warm. You never knew a man better than him.
Gravity slammed into you, knocking a pained cry from your lips. “I’ve got you. I’ve got you.” Warmth enveloped you as something crashed into the ocean, droplets of water splashing against your ankles. Your cheek was pressed against something hard as a loud, frantic beating filled your ears. “You’re safe.”
Soft fabric wrapped around you, soothing the burn of your skin. Shakily, you reached up, your limbs stiff and aching. “Clark?” With all the strength you had left, you opened your eyes.
You were barely 5 feet up front the ocean swell, a hazy ring of bubbles below you was the only indication that something had been dragging you down at all. Clark was indeed there, holding you tightly to his chest as a huge abandoned oil rig loomed behind him, half of it on fire. His eyes were wide, fearfully examining every inch of your body before his shoulders drooped and he sighed in relief.
“No broken bones or internal bleeding. Thank god.” His lips descended onto your forehead, pressing kiss after kiss to your cold skin.
“You picked me?” He pulled away only enough to look into your eyes.
“I always will.” A hand cupped the back of your neck, drawing your face upwards. Your lips parted as he glanced at them. “I will do anything to keep you safe.”
And as the fires behind him, Clark finally kissed you, washing away the smell of blood and screams of pain that he had inflicted upon those who took you from him. No one would ever hurt you again.
Riddle me this buttman
What if some Joe shmoe that's part of paparazzi gets the ability to see people's love/fate. They see the usual 'Have a loving family', 'Childhood bestfriend', etc etc wtv boring stuff.
They check Bruce Wayne and see 'Gotham'. Nothing else, just 'Gotham'. They check his kids and they all say something akin to that. Damian has 'Bruce Wayne' or 'Batman', Richard PP Grayson has 'Family' or 'Bludhaven' and Jason gets 'Crime Alley' (No clue what Tim would get ngl).
for the record, Cass would also get Bruce bcuz she's a daddy's girl and always will be. In her eyes, he can do no wrong (unless he tells her no)
i shall riddle you this
Katherine had had the ability to see what people loved above all else since before she could remember. It helped, quite honestly, because she worked as a reporter, and it was very useful to know the person she was interviewing's deepest love. Janet, the HR manager, loved her bull dog Fred the most. Adam, from accounting, loved his girlfriend. Lois, her idol, loved Clark, and Clark, also kinda her idol, loved Lois. It was sweet, touching really. She did see a few weird ones, on occasion of course, she would have been a little worried if she hadn't, but so far nothing... super strange. Not until the interview...
"Kate!" Ketharine turned, offering a smile to the gentle giant that was Clark Kent. "Hey Clark. What can I do for you?" "Oh, uh, nothing much really, actually I was hoping this was a favor for you." He raised his eyebrows, smiling. Kate closed her laptop, intrigued. "Oh? And what is this favor for me?" Clark grinned. She was caught. But Katherine couldn't help it. She was curious.
"Well I have this interview booked, but I uh, can't make it. Something's come up. Do you mind???" His big blue eyes turned pleading and Kate fought the urge to take a picture and place it side by side with a puppy to see if there was a difference.
Kate stemmed her hands on her hips. "Who?" Clark grinned. "Bruce Wayne."
Wayne Manor was... startling, to say the least. Kate knew that she didn't usually get to pick the places herself to interview her people, either the Daily Planet or the client did that, but... Wayne Manor was new. "Sorry, but Bruce is a little secretive. He almost called it off when he heard I couldn't, but I told him you were one of the best."
Clark had told her most everything he knew, though Katherine was well aware there was more he wasn't saying. She was a reporter after all. Still, she wouldn't infringe on his privacy. Reporters didn't exactly have confidentiality agreements with their interviewees, but she had kept a few personal things quite herself over the years too, and had no doubt Clark was the same. Especially with someone as ditsy and generally good natured as Bruce Wayne.
Besides a few rare critics and tabloids, Kate really couldn't find anything bad or wrong about Bruce Wayne in her quick researching session. Usually one or two full articles came up, but the worst thing Bruce had done was fallen into a fountain. He seemed to be, for the most part, a decent man. Which was impressive, especially concerning his status.
The buzzer made a wheezing noise when she pressed it, but before she could try to knock in case that meant it was broken, the door swung open and she found herself looking up at an imposing butler. Kate swallowed, hands immediately moving against her will to smooth out her skirt. It wasn't that he looked mean, he was just... intimidating.
But the butler smiled, a warm, kind smile that reminded her of her grandfather, and stepped aside, opening the door wider. "Ms. Ballenger, do come in. Mr. Wayne is in his study, can I take that for you?" "Oh, thanks." Kate blushed, shucking off her jacket. It was a little more crisp in Gotham than she was used to in Metropolis, but the house was cozy warm.
The butler bobbed his head, indicating her where he was hanging it, before leading her up a flight of stairs to a large imposing wooden door. His word was as clear and firm as his knock. Wayne's. His fist thumped twice on the wood and a deep, soothing bass called back. "Come in." "Ms. Ballenger, for your interview, sir." The butler announced, pushing the door open.
Katherine wasn't sure what she was expecting, but the man lounging in the large red chair in front of her was not it. His black hair was curly and damp, likely from a recent shower, and pushed messily out of his eyes. Said eyes were a glowing blue, striking and enchanting. He had on a dress shirt, but it was rumpled and the top buttons did not seem to be in the proper holes. His feet were propped onto the desk and he was reading some papers with one hand, his other being used to idly rub circles onto a young boys back who was sitting on his lap.
Mr. Wayne removed his feet from the desk as they entered, shuffling his papers aside. "Ms. Ballenger, a pleasure, come in." He greeted, smiling warmly, and nodded his thanks to the butler. The boy on his lap grunted at the movement, eyes narrowed in concentration as he doodled on a notebook. "Damian," Bruce began softly, a smile curling the edge of his lips. "Do go find your brothers, okay? Tell them I'm in an interview now." Damian, apparently, grumbled something, but obediently slid off his fathers lap and made his exit.
Bruce smiled apologetically, standing and crossed to her, extending a hand. "Forgive me, we haven't be properly introduced, I'm Bruce Wayne." Katherine accepted his hand, focused on keeping her eyes on his instead of letting them jump over his head. It was something she had trained herself to do, as people found it weird that she looked over them, but she had caught the young boys words as she brushed past her. It was sweet that his father was what he loved the most.
Bruce's hand was firm and warm, calloused in places she didn't think they would be. "Come, have a seat." Bruce gestured to chairs a ways away from his desk, open chairs, without anything but a small table between them. "Would you like anything?" He asked as she sat down, remaining standing to hear her answer. Katherine smiled politely. "No, thank you." Bruce nodded, taking a seat as well. "Well? What would you like to know?" "Well actually-"
"Dad!! I can't find my staff. Jason said its in here but I know he stole it-" The boy who entered the room paused, eyes lifting from his phone. Bruce seemed mildly amused, looking at who Katherine assumed was another one of his sons with a slight smile. "Then why don't you go confront your brother, Timothy?" Timothy threw up his hands in exasperation. "Well I can't do that without checking here first!" He pointed out with clear annoyance. Bruce's smile grew.
"Of course not. Can't accuse without ample evidence." "Exactly." The boy nodded his agreement, shuffling around the room in search of his staff?? "And yet you seem to do so just fine other days." Bruce continued, and Timothy's cheeks tinged pink. Katherine, excluded from the conversation, used the opportunity to glance over the new kids head.
She was a little surprised to see Batman in bold black letters, but she supposed living in Gotham the local hero might be quite popular. Especially if he was a rich kid who got kidnapped and saved a lot by the Bat. But that was only an assumption. Timothy, finally having given up his ruse, rushed to whisper something in Bruce's ear. The man frowned, but didn't wave him away, and murmured a few words of what Kate assumed was advice before sending his son off again.
"Sorry about the interruption," He offered with a small smile. "No, no, it's fine." Katherine waved his apology away, looking down at her notebook with questions. "Now-"
Another boy, well, man, almost a carbon copy of the last one, entered from a different door, carrying what seemed to be a large fridge. "They broke it again did they?" Bruce asked mildly. The man grunted something that might have been affirmative, and exited through the same door the others had. Kate glimpsed the end of his word just as he rounded the corner. Family.
Bruce was frowning when she turned back to him, and her cheeks colored as she realized he no doubt believed her to be ogling what was definitely his oldest son. But he didn't comment on it, gesturing for her to continue. Kate dared to look over his head as she pretended to shuffle through her notes, but was surprised to find the letters changing, never settling too long in one spot. They seemed to switch between two words mostly, but she couldn't for the life of her discern what they were..
By the time the interview was over, Kate was actually quite relaxed. Despite the interruptions at the beginning, the conversation had gone smoothly, and not only had she gotten thorough, well thought out answers, but he had also shown a genuine interest into her as well, and it had felt less like a job and more like a lovely conversation. It was dizzying.
"Thank you for coming Ms. Berringer, truly, this was lovely." Kate smiled back, shaking Bruce's hand again as she grabbed her coat. "It really was, thank you Mr. Wayne." "Please," he smiled. "Call me Bruce." The word above his head shifted and Kate caught just enough of it to read Gotham before it changed again. That was... odd.
"Yo old man you done?" Another carbon copy kid came out from one of the hallways, a white streak in his hair and the words Crime Alley above his head. That was... also strange. "Yeah Jason, I'm all done with the interviewer." Bruce smiled. "You need something?"
"Yeah Cass-" Before he could finish a girl materialized beside him and leaned in to whisper something into his ear. Kate jumped, but recovered quickly, squinting when she realized the "letters" above the girls head were signs. Sign language. Kate had taken basic sign language in eighth grade, and identified the letters to spell out Dad. She figured that meant Bruce, which was cute. He had quite a few of his kids with his name.
"I also need something!" Trilled a girl with striking blond hair, cartwheeling into the room. Her word was Gotham as well. This was possibly the strangest group of people Katherine had ever met. Bruce smiled indulgently thought, and murmured something to the first girl. "You're all just going to leave the poor interviewer standing in the door uncertain?" Called another voice and a girl with striking red hair appeared in a wheelchair. Her word was also Gotham.
Kate was getting increasingly more confused. Bruce turned to her, wincing with apology. "Sorry, Ms. Berringer, do you need a car home?" "Oh- no no, that's fine, thank you. I drove here." Kate stuttered out, smiling. "Thank you so much Mr. Wayne." He nodded back, and the boy with the white stripe in his hair leaned against his side.
Kate looked back just before the door closed, and as though offering her a gift, his letters cleared a bit as he leaned down to hear the red haired girl speak, the blond and silent girl laughing at one side, the boy on the other. Kids.
Who do you think would be the best DC hero to appear in MAWS and why is it Wonder Woman?
...I think the best DC hero to show up in MAWS is Mister Miracle, actually.
-We already have hints at Apokolips as one of the factors which took down the Kryptonian Empire and Scott was raised on Apokolips.
-MAWS already has a major focus on technology as part of its worldbuilding and Mister Miracle is a very tech-y gadget-y superhero with the added benefit of also being from space like Superman. Also the fact that his flight is dependent on his Aero-discs would give him a noticeable visual contrast to Superman's style of flight.
-Scott's Mister Miracle definitely has an aspect of PERFORMANCE!! and SHOWMANSHIP!!! as part of his overall superhero persona which would be a fun contrast against Clark's more warm and gentle Superman.
-It would literally be so so so funny to see Scott nearly kill himself multiple times with his crazy Mister Miracle stunts and freak Clark the fuck out only for Scott to be perfectly fine.
-You have a very cool potential drama factor since Scott could be a refugee of both Apokolips's general suckiness and Krypton's attempts at conquest, so he could have a lot of potential interactions with Kara.
-Mister Miracle and Big Barda are basically a package deal, which means MAWS would have TWO wifeguys now, plus Scott and Barda also have a size difference like Clark and Lois but it's gender-swapped.
-Introducing the New Gods is a good way to HINT at Darkseid without immediately cramming Darkseid down everyone's throats.
-Introducing non-trinity Superheroes is a good way to significantly expand MAWS's universe without elbowing out Lois and Jimmy as Clark's primary co-stars.
-I love them.
Tumblr media
BONUS: Basically since we see Clark be very conscientious about how much damage he can do as Superman, it would be very funny to have that contrasted against Scott and Barda, with Barda FUCKING WRECKING EVERYTHING and Scott cheering her on.
Tumblr media
I love Diana, I do, but the heart and soul of her character is magic and mythology, and I feel it would be really difficult to introduce her to the MAWS-universe in a way that meshes with that show's worldbuilding without changing massive parts of her character. Again, I stress: I would prefer if other members of the Trinity got their own shows establishing them in their own rights rather than just being shoehorned into MAWS.
When I said that you were beautiful in that dress... I wasn't talking about your body. I was talking about you... who you are, your heart, your passion. Lois, you amaze and inspire me every single day. You were also talking about my body. Because I love your body, and I will always love your body. Even when it's all scarred up? Even then.
Superbat's daughter HCs:
Her name is Liane
She's got Bruce's sharp/pretty/model face
Her skin is flawless, a smooth unmarred canvas (she purposefully avoids any hurt to her face unless she thinks the scar will look cool)
She's closer to Clark's skin tone, but she's still paler than him- her skin is lightly tanned
Black hair like Bruce, but she gets the curls from Clark- she loves to keep it wild, the aristocrats hate it but her parents and the people love it
As much as she is the daughter of heroes, she is also the daughter of a playboy billionaire and she definitely takes after Brucie.
She's got a 90's model grunge look going on, with big hoop earrings, thin dark eyebrows and messy dark makeup that makes her blue eyes pop
She steals Bruce's old 'drifter' clothes all the time to wear (e.g., dark hoodies, jackets and shirts)
She's relatively broad shouldered and wears both her dads' old t-shirts as comfy clothes and sleep-wear
Clark has an absolute field day watching her and Bruce fuck with the press and act ditsy
Aunt Lois takes her out on a 'girls trip' every other month, even though she can pretty much go shopping any time she wants
She advocates for multiple charities and donates as much as she legally can at once
Selina takes her out once or twice to get her nails done- they always come out sharp
Clark passed down a few of his powers (super strength, flight, etc) but she likes the challenge of fighting like Batman a lot more; Bruce actually hates this because he realises how often she'd get hurt doing it his way
Clark's parents spoil her rotten whenever they get the chance and she loves them to pieces, she goes down to Kansas to help with the farm whenever possible
Batman saved a young girl called Helen and she ended up staying with Diana- Liane and Helen are best-friends.
Anyway she just exists to me now and I love her a lot lmao 😭😭
Their daughter fr.
Platonic Yan!Superman
Summary: An afternoon-in-the-life of Superfam's kidnapped darling CW: post-kidnap, chains. relatively tame, Clark is a good daddy. ambiguously aged reader. ft, mommy lois. WC: 624
When it comes to you, Clark's strength and self-control sit in a precarious balance.
It takes monumental discipline not to break people's ear drums from the blast-off towards home or to flatten Smallville's crops when landing too suddenly. The frenzied excitement at seeing you after a long day makes him forget his powers, but he's generally mindful.
---
Clark landed in a gust of air that rattled the house, hand on the doorknob before the windows even vibrated. It took him a second to remember to be human.
Clark inhaled deeply through his nose and went through his checklist.
Human strength?
Breathing?
Feet on the ground?
Calm and collected?
Warm air and the delicious smell of dinner greeted him like a hug. Clark took a step inside, carefully measuring the weight behind each step until he comfortably distributed his usual 235 pounds. Tension bled from his muscles when he narrowed in on your frantic heartbeat upstairs.
"Hi, baby," Lois called from the kitchen.
Clark migrated towards her voice, spotting Lois at the table with her head ducked behind her computer screen.
"Hi, you." Clark smiled.
His eyes skirted over the pot of soup simmering on the stove as he walked to the table. With feather-light fingers, he guided Lois's face up for a kiss. Comforting serenity did away with the last of his nerves, and Clark took a second to appreciate how perfect his family was.
They parted, faces lingering close.
"So..." Clark started, voice an absent hum. Your heartbeat seemed to echo through the house, but Clark knew only he could hear. "Mind if I ask how your day was, then get back to you in a few minutes for the answer?"
Lois rolled her eyes with a smile, pushing his chest away. "Go on, you awful worrier."
Shooting her a sheepish grin, Clark hurried out of the kitchen towards the stairs.
Finally. Clark worried about you at all hours of the day. Thoughts of you escaping or accidentally hurting yourself were an ever-present concern, despite his thorough precautions. Worrying wasn't all he did, though. Clark also just longed to see you.
Clark's foot landed on the squeaky step, followed by your sharp breath from down the hall.
It was no secret that you didn't want to be a part of their family, and Clark understood. He did everything to make himself as predictable and gentle as possible, hoping that one day you would be happy to hear him come home.
Clark carefully approached your door, listening to you move. Thumpthumpthump, your pulse fluttered.
Rasping a knuckle on the door, he said, "Kiddo?"
He didn't wait for an answer. Time slowed as the door slid open, revealing you in all your precious glory.
You were sitting at your desk, back straight and hands in your lap. Despite your fear, your face was as pleasant as you could make it, save for the small quivers in your tight smile.
Clark’s eyes crinkled from his smile. “Hey, kid. I missed you.”
“Hi,” you said meekly, rising to greet him.
Clark crossed the room with more speed than he intended and swept you into his arms, pulling you off your chair. The chain around your ankle rattled at the disturbance.
Your shaky arms wrapped around Clark's back, and his heart swelled with love. His sweet kid. His unending joy.
Clark kissed the crown of your head, drawing out the hug for as long as possible. He looked out your window, seeing sunny, blue skies past the iron bars that caged the glass.
Now that he thought about it, it was beautiful weather on the flight home.
Clark settled you down on your feet, arms still wrapped around your small frame. With a smile that matched the sun's light, Clark asked, "Want to sit outside and wait for Jon's school bus?"
Lois (inspired by this fic by @luthordamnvers and @snowydragonscave)
Can I trust a Luthor?, Lois thought.
The fight had already begun, drawing the entire staff of The Daily Planet to the building’s windows. The battle between Superman and the mysterious figure might simply be another Tuesday in Metropolis…
Before the sky turned red.
Lois’s finger itched at the scrap of paper in her hands, a note attached to a flower delivery, written in a messy scrawl. “In the darkest hour, the answer is at the top of the Planet.”
Lois glanced to Perry White, to James, feeling the notable absence of Clark. Can I trust a Luthor?, she asked herself again, her sensibilities warring against Lena Luthor for being from the wrong family, for being too young, for… this is bullshit, Lois thought.
She turned on her heel, darting across the room without much notice, jerking open the stairwell door before bounding the three flights up to the roof of the Daily Planet. Yanking a bobby pin from her hair, she quickly unlocked the security door - a practiced habit, from her occasional secret smoke breaks - and made her way onto the roof.
She approached the giant sphere, THE DAILY PLANET boldly imprinted along its side, as her eyes scoured over the globe’s infrastructure. It didn’t take her long to notice the slightest edge of a box hidden at the very base - somewhere that someone would only look if they had need to.
She yanked at the box, throwing a quick look over her shoulder as the rapidly dimming skies contrasted with the blasts of green echoing along the clouds. Farmboy’s running out of time, she thought, ripping at the box until she came to folded metal.
That’s when she grinned. Daughter of an army general, Lois knew her way around a weapon. She was almost gleeful as she snapped together the clever telescoped rifle, the back of her mind admiring its sleek construction - despite the bulky payload - as she briefly fantasized about shooting Lex Luthor out of the sky.
But as she turned, settling onto the building ledge to steady her weapon, her eye caught on the note attached to the scope. “Aim for the S”, it said.
Lois tilted her head curiously, feeling a wave of realization, hearing Lena’s words in her ear. “Lex is my brother and I love him, but I can't stand and do nothing.”
Lois turned again to the sky, watching as Superman faltered, as the hero struggled to stay in the air, dodging more attacks as the sunlight shifted a darker red. It’s now or never, Lois said, knowing somewhere in her soul that Lena was out to do the right thing. She adjusted her aim, not lingering given Superman’s movements, carefully squeezing the trigger.
Light burst from the end of the gun, Lois’s eyes widening as the laser split across the sky, cutting through the atmosphere until it landed squarely on the kryptonian’s chest. Lois’s expression shifted to a smile as Superman’s entire frame changed, power roaming through his posture, like air filling his lungs. He surged forward again, throwing the mysterious figure across the sky like a ragdoll, continuing to chase after the attacker with new vigor.
Lois turned up to the sky again, watching the eclipse continued on, hearing sonic boom after sonic boom as the battle raged in the distance. Until finally, light began streaming again, yellow sunlight brushing her face in welcomed relief.
She smiled again, turning to pack the gun back into the box, intent to leave it where she had found it so that her Little Luthor benefactor could later retrieve it. Thanks, Lena, she thought.
She heard a clamor behind her, the heavy steps of a familiar photojournalist running her way. James watched as Lois shoved a box beneath the Planet’s globe again, before she rose, dusting herself off, making her way back towards the roof door.
“What did you do?” James asked incredulously as she brushed past him.
It was a simple answer. “I shot Superman.”
advent calendar - day eight
Sir Rupert von Grizz is Clark Kent's teddy bear.
clark kent/reader
a/n; i'm so sorry this wasn't out yesterday! my internet went out right as i was about to post it, and it didn't come back until midday today. day nine will be out the regular time today <3
Tumblr media
Madame Rupert von Grizz, is, despite popular belief, not a 'madame'. Rupert has never been a madame, but he keeps his name the same because his child, Clark, had chosen it out for him.
He had been Clark's bear since his Clark was only a baby; he still remembers being plucked off the walls of a Walmart how many years ago and being delivered straight into the then-infant's waiting arms.
He had sat on cribs and beds, dipar tables and dressers, sinks and bathtubs and had watched his Clark grow into a little boy.
He recalls being part of imaginary rocket rides, wrangling cows and being lugged around for long games of tag on the farm. He remembers being taken to show-and-tells at Smallville Elementary, being a prized possession that got plenty of ooh's and ahh's from Clark's kindergarten class. He remembers bouncing on a new bed and being tucked to sleep by Ma and Pa, and the made-up stories Clark would tell him while on the brink of sleep. He remembers sticking glow-in-the-dark stars up on ceilings and finally, earning his name and title.
He saw Clark through discovering his powers- he was there for the first flight, being taken away from the farm and instead up to the stars in Clark's hands.
As Clark entered his teenage years, though, a distance grew between them. He would stay on Clark's dresser for extended periods of time, but when Pa showed him the ship that had flown little baby Clark to Earth, he'd been secretly shoved in one of the pockets in Clark's jeans. He'd never tell, of course.
Living in Clark's jeans became a regular occurrence once high school started. He'd be taken as a lucky token, a paw rubbed anxiously when Clark didn't understand something on the paper.
When Clark left Smallville, Sir Rupert was taken with him and placed as a prized possession on a shelf in Clark's new adult room. The bed was no longer pressed against a corner, no baseball posters nor basketball trading cards strewn about the floor. Sir Rupert's new home was on a black floating shelf facing the window, and it wasn't bad at all.
He watched as Clark fluttered about Metropolis, watched the rise of Superman and the Justice League and eventually, Clark's romantic conquests. For the first time since he was a boy, Clark had taken Sir Rupert down from his shelf and hugged him after breaking up with Lois.
Then, after a year of Clark being sad about Lois' leaving, he found you. You became a fixture in Clark's life, more often at his place than Clark himself. After seeing Clark say "I love you" for the first time since Lois, Sir Rupert decided he quite liked you.
Ko-fi thank-you sentences for @wolfjackle; omega!Clark wants to nurse his pups and hungry!Kon doesn't realize he counts. Cut for length.
Kon’s breathing is normal, and his heartbeat is too. No signs of bruising or cuts or burns or any internal damage. He’s definitely passed out and not asleep, because the kid sleeps light, but that's not exactly reassuring.
Nothing about his pup being functionally unconscious is reassuring, obviously.
It doesn't help that Kon is functionally unconscious in his arms, either, because Clark's inner omega is losing its goddamn mind right now. It wants Kon curled up safe in a pack nest and to curl up around him in turn and just not come out until the next apocalypse.
Kon is just so small and skinny and sharp-boned, and Clark just . . .
It's very, very hard to keep himself from letting down. Or from scenting the kid with protective pheromones. Or–
It's just hard.
But not as hard as it was for Kon to keep that building from collapsing on everyone inside it, Clark's sure, so he pushes all that aside and just checks the kid over again before forcing himself to take off with him again. He hates being exposed with Kon when Kon's vulnerable like this, but staying on the roof isn't exactly ideal either. Even if the kid doesn't want to be in a nest with him, at least he can get him back to the den and into his room. Or the living room, at least, if Kon doesn't wake up by the time they get there.
Clark stays out of Kon's room, because Kon's never invited any of them into it. They all do.
Clark has to respect that. It's not Kon's den, but it's still his.
Clark is very, very careful of respecting things that belong to Kon, given that the kid hadn't had a damn thing but the clothes on his back when they took him in. Nothing he’d been able to keep from what little Lex had allowed him. And Clark’s gotten the impression that Lex had allowed him very, very little.
So it's not really a surprise that Kon invests the vast majority of his allowance in clothes and consumable things, considering. Things that either won't or can't be taken away from him, statistically.
At least it's not a surprise to Clark, anyway.
He takes Kon back to the pack den. Kon doesn’t so much as stir for the whole flight there, which admittedly isn’t a very long flight, especially with how fast Clark takes it. The fact still makes him feel restless and uncomfortable and worried, though.
Still makes him want to curl up in a nest and scent his pup with safe-protected-safe, and makes his chest ache.
He lands on the balcony and ducks into the apartment with Kon in his arms, and feels a little tension go out of himself at being enveloped in the familiar scents of their home territory. Kon doesn’t relax at all, but he tries not to read into that. The kid’s functionally unconscious. It’s . . . normal, not to react to things like that in that condition.
He wants to believe that right now, anyway.
“Saw the news,” Lois says from the kitchen table, putting a hand on Jon’s shoulder to keep him in his seat and visibly restraining the urge to come over to them herself–to not crowd Kon while he’s vulnerable, which Clark appreciates. They’re pack, but he knows Kon just isn’t comfortable in that close to them. He wouldn’t be this close to him if he were conscious right now. “The kid okay?”
“He just overused the TTK again,” Clark reassures her as he lays Kon on the couch with a twinge of regret. It’s not the nest, but Kon never even goes near the nest, so . . . “Kept the whole power plant in one piece so I could clear out the civilians and then passed right out.”
“Wasn’t the power plant actively exploding?” Lois says, her eyebrows shooting up. Clark spares her a wry smile. “Jesus.”
“Seriously?!” Jon says, looking starry-eyed and leaning forward in his seat. “That’s so cool!”
“It was pretty cool, yeah,” Clark says with a quiet laugh, relieved that Jon isn’t worrying and giving him a quick smile as he resists the urge to scent Kon again and tries not to look too worried himself. He doesn’t drape the throw over Kon–it’d be too close to scenting him, with how much it smells like everyone else in the pack. Even laying him on the couch at all . . . well, he won’t go into the kid’s room without permission outside of an emergency, so it’s the lesser of two evils, that’s all. Much lesser, in Clark’s opinion.
The pack’s scent doesn’t really include Kon, except in the faintest traces. Even the den’s doesn’t. And Kon himself doesn’t smell outright stray, but . . .
Well, he smells like he’s just occasionally around a pack, more than actually part of one. And right now, with his suit and blockers on, even to Kryptonian senses he doesn’t smell like he has a pack at all.
It’s making it a little difficult for Clark to stop worrying.
Or . . . very difficult, at this point.
“This kid is gonna be the death of me, I swear,” Lois says, her brow furrowing and her pheromones just barely tinged with restlessness. She’s not the type to fret unnecessarily, but bringing their unconscious pup home when he smells this close to stray . . .
Well, of course she’d be concerned about that.
“I was right there the whole time,” Clark promises her, stepping away from the couch before he accidentally does something like brush Kon’s hair back off his forehead or anything similarly invasive. It’s the kind of thing he’d do to Jon without even thinking, but . . .
Well, once early on he’d lifted a hand intending to touch Kon’s cheek and the kid had outright flinched.
So it’s not something he does to Kon.
