765874 Unification DEEP DIVE!
There's a lot to unpack on this little video, including lots not at all explained in it and only behind the scenes. Is it dreamy and ambiguous, or is there a solid background?
First of all, is Kirk dead and in heaven? Is he alive? A hologram? The answers are shown in the intro, prior 765874 videos and built from Easter Eggs in Picard season 3. Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Kirk's remains in the Section 31 Daystrom vault. The readout mentioned something called "Project Phoenix". James T. Kirk has been resurrected.
The park Kirk starts out in? It's not just any park. It's inside the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-J, just look at the Roddenberry Archive Ent-J interior. We're in the 26th century, that's why Saavik looks so old. And speaking of Saavik, the Roddenberry Archive say they consider the Vulcan's Heart novel canon. Which means Saavik is Spock's wife. And the Vulcan man next to her? That's Sorak, the son she had with Spock following the Pon Farr in Star Trek III, according to OTOY.
It gets weirder. The old man wearing a white TNG movie era dress uniform? He's credited as "Crusher". That's an elderly version of our time travelling Wesley, dressed as he was in Star Trek Nemesis.
This sinister character, who gives Kirk his badge back and takes him through time? Temporal soldier Yor, from Discovery 3.09. From the Kelvin timeline, he jumped forward in time and across timelines during the 30th century temporal wars, eventually resulting in sickness and an agonising death. Here he takes Kirk from the 26th century Enterprise-J to 23rd century New Vulcan in the Kelvin timeline.
But why was Kirk resurrected? Just to zip though time and be with Spock at his death?
And what role does Yeoman Colt (whose Starfleet serial number these shorts are named for) play? She's seen in all of them, even the start of this one in a Kelvin Universe uniform looking at Project Phoenix stuff. I guess time will tell...

She donned the Louise Gilbert personality like an old dress she hadn't worn for a while but it fit as well as it ever did. It felt almost comfortable now, after all this time. Where Vivienne's self-preservation instincts would make her run, Louise stubbornly held her ground, and her brow furrowed into a disapproving frown that would make her wrinkle prematurely if she wasn't a vampire. "Klaus." she breathed his name with judgement in her voice because that was what Louise would do. Being Louise Gilbert meant trading her survival instincts for morals. The corners of Klaus's mouth twitched in delight, making her instantly wary. "You seem nervous." "I'm not nervous. I just don't like you." Vivienne told him primly, pursing her lips. There was not much of a difference between channelling Louise Gilbert and Vivienne Pierce. Tangled Diaries 3.09 'Homecoming'

Sorry to get nit picky about your Roy and Jamie time line academy post but:
1. Year 7 is the equivalent to 6th grade - grade 6-8 (middle school/junior high) is the equivelant to years 7-9 (key stage 3/lower secondary school).
2. All schools both private and state (public schools) wear uniforms and from my experience at a private school the state schools in my area were stricter about uniform/dress codes than my private school.
3. I got the impression from 3x06 sunflowers that Roy going to Sunderland was more of a Boot Camp/training camp rather than actually joining the academy.
Thanks for your thoughts!
For reference, the previous post is here - some notes on Roy and Jamie's academy experiences. A firmer version will go into the AO3 primer.
1. You've misunderstood what I said or perhaps why I said it. This info on British school years is already covered in my primer. But - UK Year 7 is still the equivalent to US 7th Grade in terms of year and age levels. We do R (reception, like their kindergarten) to Year 6 primary school, then Year 7 and beyond for secondary school. I am totally aware that the US splits the "school eras" differently into K-5 Elementary, 6-8 Middle and 9-12 High. British schools split the education levels in a different place - R-6 primary and 7-13 secondary (we do 14 years, not 13, overall.) But year 7 and 7th Grade are still the same year of school. The 8th year of formal education after K-6. The point of what I wrote in that post was to flag that in the UK, Year 7, rather than Year 6 or Year 9, is when the "new school era" starts.
2. Yep, most schools here in the UK wear school uniforms. I didn't say in this post they didn't, I just pointed out how strict somewhere like St Bede's is, which is a real school that I have researched. The primer is for people who DON'T know UK culture, and Americans tend to forget that uniforms are standard in the UK because for them, plain clothes are standard. Bede's is strict in terms of formality - it's a blazer, branded jumper and tie, as opposed to a polo shirt with a crest or something - and it's strict in terms of only wearing the official school shop uniforms. What happened at your school is your school, I am talking specifically about this real actual school. Here's a random tweet from St Bede's with some boys in uniform in case anyone wants a look at it to imagine what Jamie wore.
3. You might be the first person in the fandom to get that impression about Roy. In my opinion that is a pretty big misread of the show. Roy mentioning coming back home for Christmas in 3.06 is a very good indication that he was in fact living in Sunderland, and Christmas was his first visit home. That Christmas visit is also something he cited in 1.06, Two Aces, when talking about moving to Sunderland - in Two Aces there are actually two references to Sunderland that make it clear that he was scouted and moved up there at age 9. It's phrased like his visit at Christmas was a temporary stay, not a permanent return to London.
First, Keeley says the following to him on the treadmill: "I read this mad story about a kid who grew up in a shit part of South London. And who got sent off to play as a child in Sunderland, of all places. And who later was force to rap his own verse in a charity single which was called "Winner, Winner, Football Dinner."
And then at the curse breaking ritual Roy says: "I was nine when I got scouted by Sunderland, and I'd never left London before. My granddad drove me all the way there, and it was freezing, and I was terrified. I was fucking nine. Say something. When I got there, he gave me this old blanket. He said it was to keep me warm and to remind me of home. And that was the last time I saw him. 'Cause he'd passed away by the time I got back for Christmas, so..."
Scouted has a very specific meaning in this situation. It means scouted as a potential professional player and signed by a club's academy.
This season, in 3.09, Roy references Sunderland again. He says:
"When I was first coming up through Sunderland, there was an old-timer on the team. Local guy. He and his wife were about to have their first kid, so during training one day, I made a joke that, statistically, I was probably the real dad."
This comment tells us that Roy not only came up through Sunderland - as in, through their academy - but that he also made his way onto the first team there and made his senior debut with them. Because his academy team isn't going to include an older player about to have a child. This story is something that happened to probably a 17 or 18 or 19 year old Roy, to a 30 year old Sunderland player. This indicates that he "came up through" the Sunderland academy all the way til he was pulled from the junior side into their first team.
Every indication from the show, as well as interviews with Brett, tell us that Roy went to Sunderland at age 9 and lived there, was a part of that football club, for at least the next decade before being eventually sold to Chelsea as an adult.

ENT Rewatch Starlog, 04 February, 2024: Episode 3.09 “North Star”
In a town which bears an uncanny resemblance to the American West in the late 1800s, a posse of men lynch a man who shows extra-terrestrial traits. The next day, a local woman in town named Bethany pays for the casket for the lynched man, and the sheriff reminds her that “Skags” can’t be buried in the human cemetery.
She states she’s aware. Archer watches the scene play out, then meets Trip and T’Pol, all of whom are also dressed to fit in to the scene. Trip remarks that it’s exactly an old west town, and T’Pol confirms that the humans match Earth DNA patterns, but the buildings are all from local materials. The oldest structures though are old enough to be contemporary with the Old West. There are about 6000 humans on the planet, and about 1000 of the aliens called Skags.
Trip and T’Pol go to investigate the alien settlement further north, while Archer moseys into the local saloon. He has a small tense exchange with the local deputy who is abusing the alien busboy in the bar—the deputy who also happens to be the man who lynched the alien the night before—when the Sheriff comes in and tells him to leave town.
Instead, Archer finds Bethany who is the local school teacher. She revels that the aliens, the Skagarans, took humans from Earth 300 years earlier to use them as slave labor as they built a colony. The humans overthrew their masters and turned the tables, but have maintained oppression over the Skagarans for two centuries. She takes Archer with her out to the Skagaran colony where she is secretly teaching the children at night. He meets Trip and T’Pol there and they have managed to find the wreckage of the original ship as well as some data chips that might have more information. Archer sends them back to Enterprise and watches bethany teach, but soon Deputy Bennings appears and takes them both into custody.
Sheriff MacReady again questions Archer, who is appalled at the treatment of the Skagarans, and can’t understand why the actions of the aliens three centuries earlier is still dictating how the humans are acting now. MacReady tells him to leave town, but also mentions that Bethany will spend 10 years in jail for teaching the Skagarans. Before leaving town, Archer stages a jailbreak, but while escaping, Bennings shoots Bethany. Archer has Enterprise beam the two of them up…right in front of the town.
Phlox is able to stabilize Bethany, and reveals that she is actually part Skagaran. While Archer decides it is time to tell the people below the whole truth, Bennings is telling MacReady that the transport proves that Archer is in league with the Skagarans, and that they must have the type of technology again that they used to bring humans to the planet in the first place. He plans to raze “Skag Town” that night, as this is exactly what the humans have feared, the aliens again taking control. They are interrupted though when a Shuttlepod lands in the street and Archer, T’Pol, Reed and some MACOs get out in full uniform, with Archer asking MacReady to talk.
Archer reveals the history of Earth to MacReady and mentions that things like prejudice, and holding people responsible for the actions of their ancestors have been left behind. He doesn’t know when they will be able to take these folks back to Earth, but there WILL be further contact. MacReady announces to the town that these people are not a threat when Bennings and an armed posse attack, shooting the Sheriff. A full gunfight ensues with Archer taking a shot to the shoulder and eventually coming to fisticuffs with Bennings to finally subdue him.
Later on Enterprise, a recovered Bethany looks down on the planet and Archer tells her that MacReady is already talking about the fact some of their laws could be outdated. She’s skeptical the humans can change, but hopeful to try. As Enterprise leaves orbit, Bethany teaches a classroom of mixed Human and Skagaran children while MacReady looks on. She is teaching them from materials left behind by Enterprise.
I remember first-run being a little put out by an “old west’ episode and skeptical that the humans had not advanced beyond Old West living in 250 or so years. Honestly though, watching now I see that more as a symptom of the conservative prejudice that would drive the humans to oppress the Skagarans; holding on to what they had been when first taken as if it is a trophy.
I also like that the episode does not try to forgive those original Skagarans—they took slaves as colonizers—but also that maintaining oppression in response is NOT the answer. Once again proving my assertion that Star Trek is ALWAYS relevant, the idea of turning guns on the child descendants of those who may have wronged your ancestors continues a cycle of violence that will last generations and resolve nothing. At some point, even when there are bad actors who will stoke the flames of a situation, a society has to say, “that’s enough” and try peace. Please apply this moral lesson to whichever current news story you see fit.
I wonder if someday we’ll get some sequel to this episode. Sure, the threat of the Xindi and existence of The Expanse would make Earth sending ships a problem for now, but what do early Federation ships find when they get back to North Star? I hope something good. (Rumor has it there’s a “Strange New Worlds” novel where Pike meets Skagarans; can anyone confirm?)
Next Voyage: Two Trips for the price of one as Commander Tucker and the crew experience “Similitude.”

I've been finding the best stuff at goodwill lately. Today was another one of those great find days. Found some drawer organizers for the kitchen, a pack of fuzzy socks still in original packaging, a Brixley cross body bag in a pattern that retails for $39 (it was 3.09), and a dress for valentine's day that was also only $3. I FINALLY found the first Hunger Games book in a hardcover, completing my collection.
I went grocery shopping and found some good prices protein options for the next couple weeks and some heart-shaped pasta I'll cook for myself for Valentines today. Also found an espresso cup and matching saucer for $1 that I will have my Valentines day nespresso out of.
Speaking of... I found an original Nespresso machine (with over 50 pods included) on Facebook Marketplace for $15 dollars 2 weeks ago. Figured I should prove to myself that I'd use it before I drop almost $200 on a new one. It's fairly old, very loud, and doesn't always get the best brew... but it was only $15 🤣😂

First of all sorry your dad/parents are like this! I've been in that situation and can relate. 🙁
You're probably the only one who can truly make a decision about that, but I'll list all the overtly gay moments I can remember so you can decide how you think they'd be received by your parents:
(SPOILERS BELOW)
I've removed names from these just in case but if you've seen spoilers you might already know.
In 3.03, a male character wakes up in bed, alone, but he's naked and clearly slept with someone. Once he gets dressed and goes downstairs, there's a man making coffee in the kitchen, and it's immediately obvious they're together. They kiss and are affectionate together before the first character leaves. The scene is short, only 2 minutes long.
Later in the same episode, the team are out for dinner at a restaurant, and the same character invites his boyfriend but introduces him as his friend/'wingman'. A few minutes later, they are seen kissing outside the restaurant in a brief scene.
In 3.05, a female character is in a room alone with another female character who we've seen her becoming friends with through the episode. There are candles lit and they drink alcohol and talk about their ex-relationships. Then the first character leans forward and kisses the other one. They pull apart, talk briefly before realising they are on the same page, then kiss again more passionately before the scene cuts away.
Later in the same episode we see the silhouettes of the two women still kissing and clearly about to have sex, but it's extremely brief.
In 3.06 the same two women are mentioned to be having a romantic date.
Also in 3.06, the male character from earlier goes to a gay club (where there are men dancing together and possibly kissing, I don't recall). Another character follows him and talks to him, and the first one is scared and denies being gay at first. Then they talk and come out to each other, and talk about their experiences. It's a very emotional and moving scene with a focus on how hard it is to be closeted while just wanting to live a normal life. Later they go back to the club and dance amongst the male couples there.
In 3.07 it continues the story of the two women. I can't name specific scenes as there are a lot, but several brief kisses and many big romantic gestures from one character to the other. This is described by another character as 'love bombing' and I've seen people report hearing homophobic comments from their family members about this relationship/character, just an FYI.
In 3.08, the two women have many scenes together again and then break up near the end of the episode. One of the scenes has them in bed in their underwear, and there are several kisses. They break up, and it's implied permanently. (The less central character is not portrayed in a very positive light, but still has nuance.)
In the same ep, the gay male character is accidentally outed to his friend, but his reaction is ambiguous and silent.
In 3.09, we see that the friend of the gay character is giving him the silent treatment and refusing to talk to him. Later, he physically fights another character who said the f-slur, and we find out he is actually supportive of his friend (there's a lot more nuance to this but this is the gist). The friend comes out to the team and they all affirm their support for him.
Hope this helps you make a decision and good luck with your parents! 🍀
I am waiting for the season to be over before watching. Three cheers for binge watching! But I have been looking at posts and have been spoiled on a few things. Well not spoiled because that would imply it was accidental, when in truth I sought out the posts. Anyways… I can’t help to wonder will sitting with my parents while watching be uncomfortable? I don’t want to say they are homophobic, I know she isn’t by remarks, him? It’s unfortunate more up in the air. They both have an attitude or an approach of not wanting to talk about, be exposed to it, etc. As if they acknowledge and accept people can be things besides straight, but they rather not be reminded of it. Have watched shows with them with gay characters and my dad after a point starts groaning, rolling his eyes, mutter things like “let’s move it along.” And sitting there keeping my mouth shut is very difficult and anger inducing. Ultimately I need to know would it be best if I watch season 3 solo to potentially avoid their (though more so his) attitude; or is that aspect of the season small and would be easy for him to get past and enjoy it with them as did seasons one and two? If solo I would feel a bit guilty, so I suppose they could get over it.

Do you have a gifset of Dean and Beth talking about the dress? I'm so curious as to what was said? Did Dean bring it up multiple times?
I don’t think I can link you to a gifset of the moments, unfortunately, just because I’m not sure if there is one compiling all of the scenes, but I’ve written up the dialogue for you!
He brings it up twice after he sees it – once in 3.08, and once in 3.09 before he kisses (and maybe more) with Gayle.
This is the dialogue from the scene in 3.08 where he sees her in it for the first time:
Dean: Where you going? Beth: I’m going to get our lives back. Dean: You gotta look that good to do it? Beth: You trust me? Dean: *nods hesitantly*
Then later in the episode, they’re reminiscing about Valentine’s Day three years ago, and he brings it up again:
Beth: I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun. Dean: You wore jeans. Beth: So? Dean: It wasn’t that dress. Beth: I didn’t need anything from you. Dean: Really wish you did. Beth: It’s just a dress, Dean. Dean: *nods* I’ll start on the chairs.
Then finally again in 3.09:
Dean: You are looking at the South-Eastern Michigan Regional Hot Tub King! Beth: Spa Dean: Spa. Spa-King. Will you come? Beth: Of course. Dean: Will you wear that dress? Beth: What dress? Dean: The one you wore for him. They stare at each other for a beat, and then Beth’s phone buzzes, breaking the moment.
It’s an interesting set of scenes, and I think really goes to show how deeply fixated on Beth and Rio’s relationship Dean is. Interestingly too, I think the second scene also goes on to show how much he blames Beth for his own cheating, something the show reiterates with him kissing Gayle when Beth misses his awards night and his language as he explains it, which operates not just as Dean voicing his feelings of neglect, but also immediately comparing Gayle and Beth’s bodies. Gayle’s is perfect, which infers that – to Dean – Beth’s is not.
I’m curious to see where the show goes with it in s4, because I don’t think that storyline was over by any stretch of the imagination when it got shutdown.

EDDIE DIAZ + the sluttiest thing a man can do is... (pt 4)
[Image ID: five gifs of Eddie Diaz from multiple episodes of 911. Overlaid over each gif is a screenshot of a tweet in the format, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is...":
GIF 1: Eddie sitting in the firehouse loft with his arms folded, his mouth twisted in a wry smile as he listens to Bobby in 4.06. The tweet is from @/kkmoneymvs and reads, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is have a beauty mark under his eye."
GIF 2: Buck walking towards Eddie with his hand on his belt in 3.09, while Eddie leans against the sink counter. The tweet is from @/bitzydimbo and reads, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is me."
GIF 3: Eddie holding up a finger to his mouth to mime shushing someone, before running his finger across his top lip in 5.01. He is dressed in a suit, one hand in his pocket. The screenshotted tweet is from @/deathbylentil and reads, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is wear a suit that ACTUALLY FITS not too big not too tight just the right fit."
GIF 4: Eddie and Buck walking together after the tailpipe emergency in 2.04. Eddie responds that those girls weren't his type with a meaningful glance at Buck, who looks back at them and bumps his shoulder into Eddie's, saying that they weren't his either - not anymore. The tweet is from @/zetthann and reads, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is be my type."
GIF 5: Eddie in 3.04, sweaty from boxing with the bag in the firehouse gym as he talks to an off-screen Lena. He looks up at her, drawing back before focusing on the bag again. The tweet is from @/ifmunson and reads, "the sluttiest thing a man can do is having big beautiful brown eyes for real."
