Chapter 6- The New Best Friend Squad Part 2- Sick Day

A few days later…

The dummy thicc wind princess that was Spinnerella felt like she was just gonna melt into a pile of mucus, and her head kept spinning as she curled up in a chair. Her wife, Netossa, was not doing much better, in fact, she had already puked multiple times and she had a sore neck and short breathing.

“Oh Gods, Spinny. Everything hurts! One of us is to blame and it’s not me!” said Netossa.

Spinnerella raised an eyebrow . “Netossa, let’s vote on it!” she droned.

“Spinny, you must be sicker and both of us if you think voting will actually change anything. There are only two of us! What the hell would voting achieve?!” Netossa tried to yell, only to cough up a lung.

Meanwhile, their son, Riley, was leaning against the wall with Kazari, Finn, Iyexi and Archer.

“You see what I mean?” Riley said, keeping his distance.

“Spinny, Nets. You two look horrible!” Kazari said, flatly.

“DUDE!” Riley shot a glare at Kazari before looking at his mothers. “Uh…mommy? Are you two okay?”

Netossa tried to sit up, but to no avail. “Welp, my chest feels like it’s being crushed and my head is pounding like crazy, what do you think?” she asked with a pout?

Spinny gave a harsh cough. “Riley, please kill me!” she said, clearly delirious.

Iyexi grimaced as she activated her visor to scan Spinny and Netossa’s temperature. Jebuss Krist, you two are burning up!” the half-spacebat remarked. “Are you two okay?”

Spinny sighed and said, “I dunno, something bit us yesterday and now we both feel like death!

Archer rubbed the back of his head, saying, “So, Riley. What exactly do you need us for?”

“Right, so…we need to gather some stuff to make a broth, or something, before these my moms kill over or something,” said Riley.

Netossa was a bit more successful at sitting up this time as she told Riley, “It’s okay, son. We’ll be okay, we just need a little bit of rest and relaxa-BLEEEEEEHHHHH!!” The net-tossing princess’ stomach convulsed and spewed out a massive stream of bile and half digested food and rubbish.

Riley leaped back and watched in horror. “Oh geez, mom!”

Spinnerella desperately tried to shield herself from the stream of chunky bile.

The squad looked at each other with concern, with Finn remarking, “Fucking yikes!”

Spinnerella tried to make a shield of wind to block the stream, but she simply did not have the energy to do so, all she could do is block with her arms. “EWEWEWEWEWEEEEW!” she cried out.

Netossa stream finally ceased, and the net tossing princess collapsed onto the floor.

Spinnerella whimpered, using what little strength she had to wipe off the vomit. “Riley, please hurry!”

Elberon

Upon arrival, Kazari’s first thought was the memory of her first time coming here with Micah to help grab stuff for a special tea for Angella. It was actually quite nice.

“Okay, guys. Here are lists of items for the brew,” Riley said, passing around small slips of paper. As everyone took the paper, everyone seemed to break off into separate cliques; Kazari and Finn rushed off , while Iyexi and Archer remained with Riley.

“I swear, those two have been inseparable since Kazari first got here,” Riley remarked.

Iyexi placed her hands behind the back of her head, saying, “Well, me and Archer have a bet going on. I’m fairly certain that Kazari and Finn are gonna fuck, one of these days!”

Riley grimaced. “Oh, Jebuss Krist… you shouldn’t make bets on that kind of stuff,” he said, face flushed red with embarrassment.

Archer cleared his throat as he tried to “Right….so…let’s just get the items…we need some noodles?”

Meanwhile, Kazari and Finn wandered through the town and immediately noticed something was off!

“Kaz, is it me, or does everyone seem…on edge?” asked Finn.

Sure enough, people around the two magicats seemed to be looking over there collective shoulders. A woman was frantically trying to get back her house, and a little girl was desperately clinging on to her father like Golem holding on to that ring.

That’s when the mayor, Elena walked up to the two. “Finn, son of Sir Adora and Lady Catra. Kazari, student of Micah. It’s good to see you two, but you should be careful!”

“Mayor Elena, hey, how’s it going?” Finn asked.

Elena looked tired, but gave as warm a smile as she could manage. She was a lanky woman with olive complexion and a pixie haircut.

“Honestly, I’ve been better. We’ve been better!”

Kazari raised an eyebrow and asked, “So, what exactly is going on?”

With a sigh, Elena explained, “There have been rumors that have been turning pretty credible, of a monster in the form of a spider!

Kazari decided to gain more info, as her interest was now thoroughly piqued. “I see, so why not contact one of the princesses? the magicat asked.

“Well,” Elena explained, Spinnerella and Netossa tried to help out yesterday, but now they’re sick, which is why everyone is on edge! Perfuma is preparing for the festival later, and frankly, we don’t think we should be relying on the princesses to solve all of our problems…”

Finn smirked. “Now that is an idea I can get behind!” they said.

Kazari stepped forward and told the mayor, “If they are sightings of some kind of monster, then the Best Friend Squad has gotcha covered. Consider it our new side quest!”

Some time later, everyone met up at a cafe, with Kazari ordering milk for everyone. “Okay, new plan,” she said. “Apparently, there half been rumors of a monster running around deep in the woods, I’m willing to bet that THAT is the cause of Spinny and Netossa’s illness!”

Finn raised an eyebrow and asked, “Kaz, are you suggesting that we become monster hunters?”

Kaz nodded. “That is EXACTLY what I am suggesting!”

“But…what about moms?!” Riley stammered.

Kazari simply flash her million dollar smile, assuring him, “Don’t worry, Riley. Your moms are Spinnerella and Netossa! They fought in the war, I’m sure they can wait just a little while longer, I’m sure they’re handling it with grace and finesse.

Meanwhile, Spinnerella and Netossa were handling being sick with about as much grace and finesse as a big bull seal. Scorpia had arrived to help out, and was met with the sight of Netossa curled up in a fetal position and Spinnerella whimpering, face down on the floor, Netossa’s dried vomit caked on the side of her face.

“Jebuss Krist, what the hell happened?!” said Scorpia.

Spinny struggled into a seating position, saying, “Well, Netossa puked all over me, I tried to get up and wipe it off, but *sniff* I collapsed and landed on my bad ankle. It hurts so much…WAAHH!”

Scorpia kneeled down and gave the dummy thicc wind princess and pulled her into an embrace.

“Shh…it’s okay…Mama Scorps is here. Imma take such good care of you guys!”

Netossa threw her head back incredulously. “RILEY!!! PLEASE HURRY!!!”

Back in Elberon, Kazari led everyone towards to edge of the Whispering Woods. “Everyone, keep your eyes peeled. According to Elena, the monster looks like a spider, so if we come across it we need to….” Kazari suddenly zoned out, staring at a tree that seemed to distort in her vision. The distortions started to take on a shape that Kazari couldn’t quite make out. Iyexi waved a hand in front of Kazari’s face, causing the magicat to blink rapidly, snapping back to reality. “Woah, that was weird!”

“Kaz, are you okay? You kinda just zoned out for a second?” said Archer.

“I don’t know….I thought I saw something. C’mon!”

“Oh Jeez, Kazari. I don’t know about this! You’re apparently hallucinating now, what if you caught moms’ sickness,” said Riley.

Kazari simply hand waved that away, saying, “Nah, I think I’ve just saw something, but I’ll deal with that later. For now, we’ve got a spider to squish.

Iyexi placed a hand on Archer’s shoulder, saying, “Don’t worry, this is Kazari, she has her ways!”

“Oh…I sure hope so!”

Kazari walked forward, cutting through some tall bushes and shrubbery, soon coming across, “Guys, looks, a spider web!”

The web was glowing with kinda luminescence, slowly shifting between thalo blue and crime scene red. Riley and Kazari kneeled down to study it. “Riley, you’re half-Netossa, do you recognize the makeup of this web?” the magicat asked.

Riley nodded his head. “Nah, this strange webbing seems almost…not entirely organic!”

Kazari tapped her chin pensively before grabbing the nearest stick she could find and poked the web, causing it to glitch out and undulate. Kazari and Riley backed up before the web burst into an acidic goop!

“What the fuck?!” Iyexi proclaimed.

“Interesting!” said Kazari.

“Kazari, you scare me!” said Riley.

Finn placed an arm over Kazari’s shoulder saying, “Everyone's a critic these day, huh, Kaz?" they said in jest.

Kazari tapped her chin, the magicat saying, “These webs don’t seem to be built for trapping things, more like causing severe damage. Iyexi, be a dear and collect a sample, because this might provide some useful information!”

With a nod, Iyexi did just that, using a plastic bag and several cotton swabs to take samples of the spider goop. “Fucking gross,” she said.

“That spider shouldn’t be far from here,” said Archer.

“So, Kaz, which way should we go?” Finn asked their fellow magicat.

Kazari opened her mouth, when she suddenly cried out, “Riley, look out!” as she tackled him to the ground, a large needle sailing past the two as they fell!

Finn, Archer and Iyexi reeled back at what shot the needles, and sure enough, it was that damned spider, one that was as big as a large dog!

“Holy fucking shit!” Riley exclaimed.

Kazari sprang to her feet and helped Riley up, saying, “Okay, this must be the fucker that made you mums sick. Let’s take it down!”

Finn, Archer and Iyexi gathered around the redhead, with Archer asking, “Kaz, what’s the plan?!”

Kazari turned to Riley, “Riley, you’re half Netossa! How good are you with tossing nets?” she asked.

Riley gave a shrug, saying, “Welp, I only have half my mother’s potential, so I’ve gotta be smart about!”

With a nod, Kaz whispered into Riley’s ear, before telling him, “Riley, just run! We’ll handle this!”

Riley did not have to be told twice, running off deeper into the woods. The squad lined up as the spider hissed at them. Other than its sheer size, the spider had a dark iridescent body and its back was adorned in a blood red pattern that looked oddly familar.

Kazari clenched her fist as she suddenly spun around on her heels, shouting, “RUN AWAY!!!” with the other following suit, sprinting deeper into the woods, the spider giving chase. Eventually, Kazari and Finn started running on all fours, pulling ahead as the spider continued to gain on the four, its disturbingly stocky legs scuttling and shuffling with the quickness.

“Kazari! Where are we going?!” asked Finn.

Still running, Kazari simply winked at them, saying, “You’re about to find out!”

“What?”

“Just over this incline!”

Kazari and Finn led the charge, bounding over a hill and into the path of a crudely made web, created by an exhausted Riley.

“Damn, nice work, Riley!” Iyexi complemented.

Kazari narrowed her eyes, and ordered, “Finn, you and I will take the top corners, Archer and Iyexi, you two take the bottoms!

The spider was inching closer and closer and closer, its four cerulean orb-like eyes appeared to look like….malice? Rage? How? It didn’t matter as Kazari and Finn leaped across the tree and grabbed the tops of the web while Archer and Iyexi took the bottoms, taking the web and covering the spider, who thrashed around wildly, its legs tearing a ripping at the nets, Kazari knew she had to act quickly, so she tightened her grip on the nets and shouted, “Silky Spider Thread Havok OVERDRIVE!” and send a steady current of havok magic through the nets, electrocuting the spider, causing the monster to spaz out and explode into a rain of smoldering guts and entrails.

Riley grimaced at the sight.

Kazari smirked, shaking the pins and needles out of her hand. “Hmph! Hmph! That takes care of that! C’mon, you guys, let’s go check on the town! ARCHER!”

Everyone linked up as Archer teleported everyone back to Elberon. When they got there however, the town was covered in luminescent spiderwebs, and the people were hiding. “It’s okay, everyone! We’ve got em’!” Kazari shouted.

Suddenly, one guy peaked his head out of a nearby window, saying, “ARE YOU SURE ABOUT THAT?!”

Before anyone could even process that, a large needle flew past the squad, piercing Riley in the shoulder, knocking him to the ground. Archer rushed to his side, asking him, “Are you okay?!”

Riley broke into the cold sweat and turned pale. “Oh Jebuss Krist, everything hurt, my head is spinning, I think I’m gonna vomit!”

Kazari looked for what shot Riley, but she didn’t have for long, with a gasp, she was the first to notice an even bigger spider, one that was the size of a large storage building, looming over Elena’s home.

“Holy fucking shit!” Finn exclaimed.

“That must be the mother, and the cause of Spinny and Netossa’s illness” Iyexi said.

The man in the window cried out, “We’re all about to die!”, but Kazari turned around, saying, “Or, perhaps not! I’ve decided to explore the Valley of the Lost yesterday, and it’s amazing what you’d buried under the sand!”

Archer, who was cradling the downed Riley said, “Kazari, what are you-?” but soon got his answer when Kazari pulled out an old rusty Horde Soldier Blaster!

“What the- THAT’S AN OLD HORDE BLASTER!” Iyexi shouted.

Kazari nodded, saying, “Damn right, and it’s about to get a havok extension!”

With a smirk, Kazari aimed the gun, channeled her havok through the chamber and barrel, and opened fire on the spider mother.

Riley, who has now in a full blown fever, looked at the sight before him, saying, “What the fuck?! I knew that bitch was crazy, but not THAT crazy. In front of the Gods and everybody?! INCREDIBLE! Where did she even get the gun?! WHY SHOOT UP THE WHOLE VILLAGE?!”

Kazari let loose a furious roar, continuing the fire at the super spider, until the limited use of havok proved too much for the rather gun, which suddenly exploded. Kazari staggered back, but smirked as it seemed the damage was enough to knock the spider off its perch! It quickly got up, hissing at the five, hate in its many eyes.

Kazari scooped up Riley in a bridal carry, saying, “Okay, we’ll draw its fire, you guys grab its legs, we’re headed to Spinny and Netossa’s house. Archer, get ready to teleport. I’ve got a plan!”

“Wha- Kazari, what are you-?”

The magicat darted forward, and leaped onto the spider’s back while the other’s grab the spider’s legs!

“Now, Archer!”

Archer tightened his grip and teleported outside of Spinnerella and Netossa’s house before grabbing Riley, gently placing him next to Spinny and Netossa.

“Wha-? Oh no, Riley. Not you too!” said a dying Netossa.

Finn and Iyexi dodged the needles being shot at then while Kazari grabbed Archer and they both teleported onto the top of the roof.

“Archer! Got your arrows?” asked the magicat.

“Do you even have to ask?” Archer, pulled out a retractable folding bow and arrow set.

“Together!” Kazari shouted.

Finn and Iyexi managed to get the spider to turn its back to Kazari and Archer, who’d both drawn back the arrow, crackling with Kazari’s havok magic. “Here we go, Archer! Arrowshot Havok Overdrive. They released the arrow, it flying like a comet, straight into the spider’s back. Bullseye! The spider’s body flashed with electricity as it suddenly burst into another shower and guts and ectoplasm.

Last time, Iyexi was able to miraculously avoid getting dirty. This time, suffice to say, she was not so lucky this time!

Spinnerella, Netossa and Riley, suddenly felt a wave like a fresh spring breeze! It was as if they were never sick at all! “Woah, I suddenly feel better!” Riley remarked.

Spinny and Netossa shot up, went outside, and surveyed the damage. “Okay, this is actually very concerning!” said Netossa.

Kazari and Archer leaped down from the roof and gave the two a thumbs up!

“So, it looks like you’re feelin’ better,’ Kazari remarked.

Spinnerella, however, said nothing, only thinking to herself; “Where did the thing even come from?”

Netossa stepped forward, saying, “Welp, thanks for the help, can you also do us a favor and give our thanks to Scorpia? Thanks!”

The squad fistbumped each other, triumphantly, but then Spinny cut in, saying, “Okay, this is all well and good, but whose gonna clean all this is up?” to which Netossa walked up to her with a broom, dustpan and the sexy maid outfit!

“Yeah, that seems about right!”

they have a *very* wild story that i've been developing for years. i've tried over and over to write it all down linearly for others to read but my executive dysfunction works completely against it, so everything lives in my notes app when i have random bursts of ideas or just my head lol

the main characters from left to right on the 'adhd, autism etc' meme is Topher (taw-fer) she/her, Juno she/her, Tatum he/him, and Pax they/he. until pretty recently topher's name was finley/finn. the core of the story and character dynamics was thought up a few years ago, but then i watched arcane and went DAMMIT because that story is Very similar to mine haha. so i guess to sum it up very simply, its a similar story of siblings being pulled apart, as well as nations conflicting because of class struggles, mix in some low-magic here and there

the main land is called Nor, and within are Norwood, Norstead, and Norden. the people within are called norfolk. the nation outside of nor is called The Sheer. inside nor is a mysterious place called Knoll, which has a natural power source that provides the extra 'magical' energy in nor, bright green stones called Smog. long ago a group supposedly tried to steal the smog for themselves, and they along with their village/nation were cast out and elf-like ears clipped, now pretty much human, and they created the sheer. nowadays norden has the harshest of views towards folks in the sheer, norwood have the kindest, and norstead just wants to be left alone

topher: ~20 human, born in the sheer, but was at about age 6 adopted by someone named Salal 'Sal' (in bottom right doodle) into norwood, grew up along tatum and pax. quarrelled a lot with pax growing up, and now furious with them. quite spunky and defensive, but overall just wants to prove herself. incredibly kind despite how the world tries to paint her

juno: ~20 human, born in the sheer, lived with her brother Micah. joins micah's rebellion group called the Muncrook, but one day micah mysteriously disappears. nowadays, she recently learnt her brother could still be alive, and now is in constant search. pretty emotionally detached and quite nervous, but can be quite blunt, funny, and curious when comfortable around someone

tatum: ~13 norfolk, born in norwood, younger brother to pax. absolute freak of a guy /pos, has a life-long passion of learning alchemy and being an inventor. ignorant to most issues around, but wants the family (him pax and topher) to get along. very dorky and kind, but sadly ends up being the indirect cause for most problems in the story

pax: ~24 norfolk, born in norwood, oldest sibling. at around age 14 against his will was chosen to become the next Caretaker of knoll, a vessel for its power, and reluctantly put all their self into their duties. is incredibly protective of tatum. mentor is very bigoted against folks in the sheer, and from then on pax and topher conflict about what pax should do or believe. incredibly anxious and stubborn and indecisive, they just want to do 'the right thing' but can never act in time, ends up early on betraying topher do to this inaction.

woops massive rant. this explains... maybe 1% of what 'the deal' is with these characters tbh. there are crucial aspects and events and characters that i haven't mentioned because it would take the whole story to write really. uhh hope this helps haha. my brain has been very focused on tball but i am very dedicated to these characters and the story, i genuinely would love to make it into a tv show someday. my youngest cousin is always saying he wants me to make a comic for these characters, so whenever i get adhd meds i'll try to work on that so i can actually put these guys out into the world :]

So what is Char's relationship with all the other adults?

They seem close to Adora cuz of being a She-Ra fan but what about the others?

Catra—big fan, thinks her redemption was inspiring, close to her because she’s DT’s best friend

Glimmer—sometimes she can be a bit rowdy, but he likes Cousin Glimmer and knows they’ll always have fun together

Bow—Char can always go to Bow if he needs to talk about something serious. He’s also the one who taught Char about tech and lighting (which Char helps out with for DT’s plays), so Bow’s kind of a mentor figure

Scorpia—they’re two peas in a pod. They get on great.

Perfuma—she makes the best tea and helps Char deal with his anxiety and fear of abandonment.

Mermista—the tired aunt who gets fed up easily with misbehaving. Thankfully, Char doesn’t do much of that, so she likes that he’s mild-mannered and unlikely to cause trouble.

Sea Hawk—the fun uncle. Irresponsible at times, but great for an adventure. He usually spends time with him when Char and Finn visit the Seamista kids.

Entrapta—Char thinks she’s really cool and wishes he understood more about tech so he could keep up with her when she starts talking about it.

Hordak—he’s a little scared of Hordak.

Wrong Hordak—lots of fun to hang out with. A great babysitter.

Frosta—he’s a little intimidated by her, but admires her strength and combativeness. I imagine sometimes Frosta leads adventures for the kids, since she’s closer to their ages than the other adults.

Casta—obviously he adores his grandma. She’s always there for him when he needs her, and she’s who he seeks out if DT isn’t home, or if he had a fight with DT.

Micah—great-uncle Micah is cool and knows all sorts of magic tricks. Very fun at birthday parties.

Magicatra Notes and Extras

Hellooooooo! There's so much about Magicatra that didn't make it into the final cut of the story, but I still really want to share it, so here it is! Minor spoilers for the epilogue, so I recommend reading that first. And if you have any questions, I love talking about this series so much!

Magicatra Post-Series:

Catra immediately relegates herself to background duties like organizing aid, and almost never appears in public as She-Ra unless it's absolutely necessary. The attention makes her uncomfortable

The BFS road trip happens about two years after the end of the war, and takes almost a year to complete. Glimmer and Catra are absolutely ready to murder each other by the time they get back to Etheria

Adora eventually gets a new jacket, with Catra's help. She still misses her old one, but she came to terms with it after about a year. Catra gives her the Bright Moon pin at the same time to help her feel more comfortable

Everyone takes this as a sign they're engaged, and maybe they are, but they're not really putting a label on it. They already promised each other that they'd be together forever, a whole ceremony seems kind of excessive

The castle is way too loud and active post-war - Adora and Catra move out after a year, to a small cottage built by the combined efforts of Adora, Micah, and Bow

Adora still has dreams about the portal world, and sometimes wakes up wondering where Finn is. For this reason, Catra still hasn't given her the full details of her dream in the Heart

Catra eventually agrees to let a couple of Bow's brothers set up a dig site in Half Moon *after* she and Melog have fully explored the kindom. It takes her two weeks (and three visits to the infirmary after collapsing from pure exhaustion) to bury all the bodies. Melog teaches her about Magicat funeral customs, and she does her best to honor them

She retire the mask after this, hanging it above the mantle in their home in rememberance of the magicats. She doesn't need it to transform, and she'd rather it be somewhere safe

Glimmer, shockingly, talks Adora into experimenting not only with her hair, but with different clothes as well. While she still has a set uniform that she's comfortable in, she's more willing to change things up for special events and tends to alternate between suits and dresses (she likes the suit better though because she and Catra match)

Glimmer and Bow get married three years after the war. Half the Alliance is shocked to hear that they weren't dating *during* the war

Scorpia skips the princess stage and goes straight to being Queen of her kingdom once the restorations are completed. It's mostly made up of former Horde soldiers, but more people have moved in over the years

George and Lance convince Catra and Melog to tell them everything they know about the Magicat history so it can be properly documented. Melog is actually quite happy with the idea that their legacy will live on in some form

Castaspella eventually successfully has Light Spinner's statue removed from Mystacor. While Catra's and Adora's feelings about her are still complicated, they both agree she doesn't deserve any kind of dedication or monument (and Casta has been wanting to get rid of that thing for a long time)

Angella originally poses the idea of retirement after Bow and Glimmer get married, but there's no rush for Glimmer to take over, so she takes the time to study and follow her mother around to learn the more boring parts of the job. By the time she's ready, it's nearly the five-year anniversary of the day the war ended, and she decides to have the Coronation then

Adora also still dreams about Horde Prime and being chipped, and usually wakes up panicking. Catra lying on her and purring is very helpful and grounding

While Razz is somewhat grounded back in the right timeline, she still gets things confused, and sometimes forgets which version of Catra and Adora she's talking to. They've gotten used to her randomly dropping facts about their future while they help her bake. They try to visit at least two or three times a month

Extras

Adora's dream world: I had different plans for her and the dream world that basically involved her living out a bunch of different lives with Catra in different scenarios (including canon), but I decided focusing on continuing one dream would be more effective

Angella: She ended up playing a much bigger role than I originally anticipated. It kind of came about naturally during her talks with Catra. Probably something to do with how similar she and Glimmer are. And no, I never considered killing her

Princess Catra: YES, Catra was originally intended to be the missing princess of Half Moon. If she had grown up there, it would have been interesting to watch the queens grapple with the fact that their only daughter was Etheria's savior and could very well die in the process of fighting the war. But a lot of people were against the idea in the comments, and I decided it didn't serve a purpose and therefore didn't need to be in the story. So it's really up to interpretation now

Adora wasn't originally chipped: If I had gone with my original plans, she would've been rescued from the portal and kind of addled the same way Razz is - confusing reality with her dreams, etc. It would've gotten better eventually. But the idea of Horde Prime taking Adora, chipping her, and sticking her back in the portal came up a few times in the comments, and I realized I really liked that idea, and it also helped with another issue...

Bringing back She-Ra: I had no damn clue how to bring She-Ra back without some epic Save the Blonde storyline. At one point I thought about not bringing She-Ra back until the Heart scene, but that seemed like a bit much, and made it harder to justify why she had to take the Failsafe instead of someone else

Razz: Also ended up playing a bigger part than I realized - not that her part in the show wasn't already big, but I didn't expect to expand much beyond that. Catra ended up seeing her as a neutral third party she could talk to for advice, though (even the advice didn't always immediately make sense)

Horde Lord Adora: I tried, I really did, but there was just no way to write season four Adora without completely upending her character, and I really, really wanted to stick with the line I'd already established - Adora wasn't evil, she was misguided, and then a little selfish, but still a good person at heart.

The Portal: I almost had Catra stay behind to save everyone else, because the fallout from that would have been amazing to write, but it also created a huge hole in getting the Heart of Etheria to work, since it needed She-Ra

The Portal, again: Adora originally said "I love you" to Catra before taking the sword and trapping herself. I decided that was a bit much and they weren't in that kind of place emotionally

The Chipped: Who was chipped and who wasn't changed several times depending on what I was considering doing with the rest of the story.

Glimmer was one of the two people who ended up chipped no matter what my ideas were, because I thought it would be interesting. I almost left her chipped until the final battle, so Angella would have to face her and Micah, but I also really wanted the scene between chipped!Glimmer and Catra. She was also originally planned to be chipped much later in the story, but I decided it would be more fun to do it before she, Bow, and Catra resolved anything

Sea Hawk was a spur of the moment choice, because I wanted to see the role reversal in the final fight, and how Mermista would handle everything. And of course it led to a great interaction between them beforehand that forced her to reconsider the way she acted and treated him, and why she let him keep coming around

Frosta ended up chipped in the final version because I'm a terrible person. It was stated several times in canon that she was one of the strongest princesses, and seeing everyone how everyone else handled it was interesting. Also Bow's speech to her in the spire and their hug were too cute to pass up

Scorpia I, admittedly, didn't really want to chip. But the Fright Zone was a convenient place for the fight between Adora and Catra, so I rolled with it and just had her rescued off screen

Micah was the other person who was always chipped in every version, because I had so many Thoughts in mind for how the final battle with him would go. The Glimmer-Angella teamup was obviously what I ultimately went with, and I'm very proud of it

Melog: I feel terrible even thinking it, but I originally didn't have them being rescued within the main series - I was going to write a little oneshot about it later. But I couldn't see a way forward without them. They're important to Catra and Adora (she doesn't have a bond with them, but they still act as support for her when she needs it, and she does the same for them), and I really wanted Melog to attack Shadow Weaver

The Future Dream/Wish and rescue: There were several iterations of this. I know the canon rescue scene was an homage to Revolutionary Girl Utena, but it didn't really fit what I was going for to be honest. I went with the chasm between Adora and Catra because it better illustrated how something was always trying to keep them apart, but they always overcame it

A Dream Come True

It’s finally here! The fic and comic you’ve all been waiting for! And it’s all catradora fluff as far as the eye can see.

I wanna thank my good friend @midnightechoes for her amazing work on the comic and to all the people who donated and helped us reach our 200 dollar goal.

And without any further delay, here’s the AO3 link (comic included) for those who’d rather read over there, and let’s get this nonsense going

Today was a big day for Etheria. It was the first Princess Prom since the fall of Prime, the first Princess Prom in many years to be celebrated in a time of peace and prosperity. So of course, Etheria’s great savior and protector was expected to make an appearance, and she was expected to look good.

Though if Adora asked just about anyone, they would claim that she always looked good. But she did want to put in the extra effort today. It took her some convincing from all of her friends to keep her from over planning and over preparing like last time.

There was no threat of war, no great enemy, no lies or intrigue, it would just be a ball with all the people she loved. She could just rest and relax tonight. So she put on a beautiful white dress, let her hair loose from its near permanent ponytail, donned a pretty little tiara, and just let herself not be combat ready for once.

Looking now at her own reflection in the room’s waterfall - the closest to a practical use she found to those wasteful things - she had to admit that she did look pretty, though for some reason she was struck by a strange sense of familiarity.

“Just let me brush it!” She heard Glimmer call from outside the room.

“No!” Catra yelled back as she ran into the room with the queen chasing after her, brush in hand.

Though Catra acted like she was running for life, they both still giggled. Catra tried to use her wife as cover from the queen’s attack, but Glimmer followed her anyway, and both just started running circles around Adora.

“Don’t let her touch me!” Catra yelled, hiding behind Adora, “she’s gonna torture me!”

“Do you always have to be this dramatic?” Glimmer asked, knowing full well that the answer was yes.

“Come on, guys,” Bow called, calmly walking in, “if we’re late to Scorpia’s first ball she’s gonna kill us.”

He pulled Glimmer closer and she leaned against him, hooking an arm around his back. For a moment there the queen seemed to forget about her plans to torture Catra, and just enjoyed that little display of affection from her husband.

“Fine, you’re off the hook,” she surrendered, but added just a little threat at the end, “this time.”

Catra stuck her tongue out at them, still using Adora for cover, as they left the room, leaving the two of them alone together. Once she was sure she was safe from Glimmer’s hairbrush, she stepped out from behind her wife and laughed a little to herself.

“You coming?” She asked, reaching a hand towards Adora.

The whole time Adora had been stunned. In equal parts by this constant feeling of dejavu, and by just how beautiful Catra looked right now. Her wife had always been a master of the casually gorgeous look, but this time she had completely out done herself.

“Etheria to Adora,” Catra called, playfully, “you still there, Adora?”

“Sorry, I just have this weird feeling that I’ve seen this before,” she explained, the feeling completely disappearing a moment later.

“What? Did you sneak a peek while me and Glimmer were putting the look together?” She teased.

“No!” Adora defended herself, “it’s just dejavu or something. I--you’re messing with me, aren’t you?”

Catra feigned offense, “such accusations from my own wife? I would never do such a thing.”

“Oh you little--!”

“Guys,” Bow interrupted again, calling from the hallway beyond, “Scorpia’s ball, remember?”

“Sorry, your majesty,” Adora shouted back, they both knew he didn’t like the title, but it was fun to mess with him sometimes.

That earned her a little laugh from Catra and a soft nudge to her side, “you ready to go?”

“Yeah, I think I am,” she answered, hooking her arm around Catra’s as they made their way out of the room.

They had barely stepped into the hallways of Bright Moon castle when they were stopped by a voice calling for them.

“Oh my goodness!” Exclaimed a very excited King Micah, “you both look stunning!”

The king had always been such a sweetheart, the man had nearly adopted the two of them after the war was over. After everything that had happened, it was nice seeing him this happy.

“Hey there, your majesty,” Catra greeted, “everything ready for the dance?”

“Indeed it is!” He replied, his bright smile growing wider, “before you go, though, I have a big surprise for you!”

“Oh?”

With a dramatic flare worthy of Double Trouble, King Micah stepped aside to reveal…

The most adorable thing they’ve ever seen.

Behind the king stood their child. Little Finn looked as adorable as they looked annoyed at their new outfit, a lovely uniform in several shades of purple and beautiful gold accents. The kid was just short of ten years old, but they already looked like a fancy little dignitary of the kingdom. The only thing standing out from the illusion was their messy blonde hair.

“You look precious!” Adora squealed at the sight.

Catra gasped, holding on tighter to her wife’s arm. It was the only thing she could do not to run over and hug them right this instant.

“Moms!” Finn groaned, “please!”

Unfortunately their pleas for help were lost on their moms, who were still busy blabbering about how adorable they looked.

“Uncle Micah, do I really have to wear this? It’s itchy,” they complained, hoping their uncle would listen, “and lame.”

The king turned to address his little nibling, but was horrified by what he saw.

“How did you manage to mess up your hair in the five minutes since I finished it?!” He demanded, utterly shocked.

“It’s a skill, uncle,” Finn replied, giving him a smug look that clearly ran in the family.

Looking none too pleased with all that lost work, Micah drew a quick glyph in the air, using just a bit of magic to comb his nibling’s hair in an instant.

“There, fixed.” The king proudly declared, earning a hiss from the angry child.

And also earning him a hug from Adora.

“They look amazing,” she beamed, “thank you!”

“My pleasure, Adora,” he replied, his voice and expression growing softer, “I missed out on too many of these moments with Glimmer. I’m not going to miss any more of them.”

Meanwhile Catra no longer had Adora to hold on to to help contain herself, so she had dashed over to their child, too busy showering them with love and affection to notice the tender moment happening behind her.

“You are the cutest kid in all of Etheria,” she happily praised.

“Mom!” Finn groaned once more.

Adora let out a content sigh as she watched those two. She loved them with all her heart and they had made the past decade of her life better than she could have ever dreamed it would be.

“Thanks again,” she repeated to Micah, finally letting go of the hug.

Walking over to her family - wow, it really warmed her heart every time she thought of them like that - she picked up the little light of her life and carried them on her shoulders. They mumbled a few words in annoyance, but Adora could feel their tail happily swaying against her back.

“You’re going to win Best Kid at the dance for sure!” Catra commented.

“I don’t think that’s a real award, mom.”

“We’ll make it real, kid.” She declared, “don’t worry, I have some pull with Princess Scorpia.”

Adora couldn’t help but smile at that.

“What’s got you all smiley like that?” Catra asked, leaning closer to her wife as they walked together.

“It’s just…this is our first Princess Prom as a family,” she said, a little teary eyed, “I still can’t believe we got this far. It’s more than I could have ever dreamed of.”

“Well, you better start believing it,” Catra replied, giving her a little kiss on the cheek.

“Ew!” Finn complained, hiding their face so they wouldn’t be forced to see any more disgusting affection from their moms.

The two of them laughed together and Adora was certain that no dream could ever compare to the life she now lived.

(First things first, you should probably take an hour and a half of your time to actually watch it and form your own opinions. I'll try to be unbiased but we all know that's impossible)

Catra and Adora were just whispering about dumb kid stuff, obviously. Made up stories about Shadow Weaver, touching each other's hair, etc. There isn't a deep secret about this.

Adora is the repressed Lesbian, Catra is the yearning Lesbian. Adora would get so into their relationship when she actually realizes.

There's a deleted B-plot about Castaspella, Angella, and Shadow Weaver going to the spa.

There's a deleted Princess Prom scene of Angella getting Prom Photos of Adora and Glimmer, except it's they're posing for a court painter. Also a scene where Scorpia shows Catra her weird flying Scorpion car thing we see at the end.

Micah originally commented on Glimmer and Bow's relationship in a protective dad way.

There might be a faction of First One's left, it's a mystery of whether they're still out there. Maybe an offshoot of Mara's Rebellion.

Mara was originally a He-Man character, but she didn't really base her off that character outside of design. The Mara from the reboot was originally a completely seperate character and was jokingly called "Brittany." Noelle chose Mara because she has the same name as one of her favorite Star Wars characters.

Noelle's theory on Madame Razz is that she's basically a glitch in the matrix, when Mara isolates Etheria she gets dislodged from linear time. When Adora breaks the sword and brings Etheria into the greater Universe, she's healed. Also, in the original show Bible, there was a running joke that Razz dated everyone on Etheria. A joking example is her having an ex that was literally a sentient ball of flame.

The flashback scenes were edited to seem more magical and alive, examples include insect calls and Dinosaur noises.

Double Trouble was originally going to be more of a Femme Fatale, but Jacob Tobia helped shape them into the theater kid we love.

Everyone on the crew has an idea on Flutterina and her fate. Noelle believes she was made up by Double Trouble, based on a little girl they watched in a coffee shop that is none the wiser, while the rest of the crew likes to think she's dead.

Noelle supports the Double Trouble and Peekablue ship, but doubts the real Peekablue acts the way DT played them.

Glimbow is a more subtle mirror to Catradora.

The host relays an email calling Entrapta and Hordak good disability rep. Noelle doesn't directly comment on that.

Hordak and Light Hope are parallels, both created for a specific purpose but breaking from that programing.

Shane Lynch called Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket a "boy Catra"

So a white cis straight guy asks Noelle what stories he can tell. Noelle talks about the importance of minority voices and keeping opportunity doors open for POC and other minorities, it's not about what you're "allowed" to write but instead elevating marginalized voices. Noelle hopes that she can use her success later down the line to influence executives, who are often the reason those voices aren't being heard.

Glimmer's "titty crystal" in her season 4 design is just a piece of a queenly clothing. Glimmer doesn't have wings, the idea is that her little wings are sort of like birthmarks.

Two and a half to three years pass between season 1 and 5, the crew was expecting season 5 to be split with a time jump between.

Here's the big one. There was an inside joke that all of Bow's brothers had punny rhyming names. Oboe who played the Oboe, Gogh who was missing an ear, and I quote "Which one of Bow's brothers likes to till the fields? Sow."

Entrapta absolutely built her own robot parents.

There is probably more than one language on Etheria, the crew never really thought about it.

Laura Sreebny likes to think Kyle, Lonnie, and Rogelio open a bar in the Crimson Wastes. Noelle likes to think Double Trouble would hire then for theater.

"Believe in yourself God damn it" is an Adora outtake the crew loves, a lot of Scorpia's dialog was improvised.

Hello! I was wondering what the boys would name their sons/daughters! Just a smol request :D

YALL im sorry for being so inactive i just haven't been in the mindset for writing and i need a little break. HOWEVER this isn't really writing this is more like a casual discussion where i give my opinion on some of the VDL boys and their choice of baby names so pls enjoy and add anything if u want this is just me rambling.

Arthur

I think Arthur would be quite simple with a name choice only because he’s the biggest sweetheart and I think the name of his child wouldn’t matter since he’d love them regardless. Since his son’s name is Issac which is biblical I think Arthur would name him Aaron or Gabriel since it fits.

If Arthur had a daughter I think he’d name her Charlotte after his encounter with Charlotte Balfour and teaching her to look after herself would remind him of being a dad (not in a weird way)

Dutch

He definitely seems like the symbolic one of the gang so I think if he had either a boy or girl their name would be Evelyn (it can be gn I did some research) as the author of ‘The American Inferno’ has the same name, which is the book he reads in chapter 3 and I think it’s unique but still fits the period.

I also can’t help but think that he might call his daughter Annabelle.

Charles

Pls correct me if I get this wrong but from the research I’ve done I think the boys name Adriel would suit Charles and his son. It means beaver or symbol of skill and Charles is someone who is still deeply connected to his Native American culture and I can picture him leaving the gang to teach his son how to hunt and show him all the skills and knowledge he has.

I also think if it happened after the events of beaver hollow he’d name is son after Arthur.

John

Obviously John has Jack so I wouldn’t really pick a boys name for him but I think if he had a daughter he’d name her after Bonnie. To me John just seems like the type of honour their friendship but that’s just me.

Micah

Half of me feels like he’d name his son Micah but I also think that the name would remind him of his dad too much and the whole ‘don’t grow up to be the man I became’. i think Micah wouldn’t ever want redemption but having a child would be his way of making it right and so he’d name his son something completely different like Henry or George.

If he had a daughter he’d name her Laura, I personally think its a beautiful name and from what I understand its a symbol ‘victory’ in the Greek Era which is fitting for Micah.

Bill

To me Bill is a softie at heart and I think he’d name is child Marion regardless of being a boy or girl. The whole ‘its a family name’ is personal to him and has meaning under all that and I think he’d raise them to be badass and not take criticism from anyone.

Sean

Obviously his kid is gonna be a crazy little shit just like him and I personally think his child would have a very Irish name regardless of being in America because he’s proud as hell.

I think his son’s name would be Leighton or Finn and his daughter’s name would be Siobhan.

FINN - …The Future Xe-Ra? Finn was brought into the world of Etheria with an enormous title on their shoulders since before they could walk: “The Child of She-Ra, Etheria’s Champion and Savior of the Galaxy”. On the flip side, they also balance that grand title with “The Kitten of a Powerful and Cunning ex-Warlord who Nearly Destroyed Space and Time Out of Spite”. Quick on their feet, a big talker and one hell of a hero complex are all traits that get them in massive hot water a little too often, but they always go into danger with the best intentions and what they think is right in their heart. With the thirst for adventure matched with the burden of prophecy always on their plate, Finn finds themselves tangled in so many destinies. One of their moms tells them not to get up in “Princess stuff”, but they can’t help but have that same curious nature that brought their other mom to the Sword of Protection in the beginning… (ORIGINAL DESIGN BY NOELLE STEVENSON @gingerhazing

FLORA - Princess of Plumeria Flora is the Princess of Plumeria and the younger of Empress Scorpia and Queen Perfuma’s two children, although she finds herself to be a huge contrast to her fellow Plumerians. On top of only being able to grow poisonous plants with the help of her runestone the Heart Blossom, Flora has a spunky, boisterous and off-the-wall personality and much prefers digging in the soil for bugs and fungus than helping her mother grow beautiful flower bouquets. Like her Aunt Entrapta, Flora is on the autism spectrum and feels like she is very misunderstood by other people, turning to insects and her best friends as a comfort from the wedge she feels is between her and her kingdom, specifically her own mother Perfuma. Even with her fear of being misunderstood, Flora remains kind, strong and compassionate to everyone she meets and her dedication to being the most authentic version of herself in the face of that insecurity is not overlooked by ones she loves. Her family and friends slowly begin to understand and adore the many ways Flora expresses herself and her affection in her own unique ways…even if it means putting her favorite pet grasshopper on your shoulder without a heads up. ARBOR - Prince of Pandinus Arbor is the future Emperor of what was once the Fright Zone, and the heir to the Black Garnet runestone. Though he loves his kingdom, his family and the electrokinesis granted by his Runestone, something about the heirloom doesn’t sit quite right with him…something shadowy attached to it. Fearing that his anxieties caused by this lingering darkness will be dismissed or found to be disturbing to his family, he keeps many of his anxieties, feelings and even parts of his personhood under wraps and puts others before himself. This masking may cause him to come off as distant or cynical, but Arbor would do anything to protect the people that matter most to him, and maybe just needs a little more reassurance to come out of his shell (no pun intended). He may not be a hugger, but he’s still got a big heart.

CASPIAN - Prince of Salineas The only child of King Sea-Hawk and Queen Mermista, Caspian is a slick, confident (bordering on cocky) and care-free flirt who is constantly running away from his home in Salineas. His high energy attitude and love of attention has him wanting to be in a million places at once – except on the throne where he’s expected to be. But then again, why would he want to be stuck in the palace? He’s an extremely talented musician, a self-proclaimed lady (and gentlemen) killer, and a literal merman with the Pearl runestone’s power to manipulate water to his will. He has everything he wants! Or maybe he would have more incentive to come home if he felt like his parents weren’t caught up in shanties and “cool-girl princess” attitudes to see him as their son instead of a friend…

ANGELLA “ANGIE” - Princess of Bright Moon Angella the II, more affectionately known as “Angie”, will follow in her mother’s footsteps as the Queen of Brightmoon and is the heir to the Moonstone. Not only does Angie harness the Moonstone’s powers of teleportation and shimmering energy, she’s amazingly smart thanks to years of knowledge absorbed through the endless books of her grandfathers’, George and Lance, extensive First-Ones library. Angie usually never has a moment to spare between her studies, hobbies, and training to use her powers, but she would drop everything to get closer to her little brother Sky. Angie’s family is her whole world, but as the sibling duo got older and older, she can feel Sky’s resentment of her prolific lifestyle growing and her cherished brother pulling away from her. Even with her intelligence, strength, and tender heart, Angie feels like if she slips up once, her entire world will crash down. Getting her family back together while balancing her royal duties is a responsibility she felt she had to take on, but letting herself be human is the real journey she will need to accept eventually.

SKY - Prince of Bright Moon Sky is the second child of King Bow and Queen Glimmer, the Prince of Brightmoon, and a very gifted sorcerer. Working alongside his grandfather, the now retired King Micah, he puts his entire life and dedication into his sorcery. Unfortunately, being the younger brother of the future Queen of Bright Moon and heir to the Moonstone leaves Sky feeling forever trapped in Princess Angie’s shadow. Though Sky is loyal and passionate to his friends and good at the core, his envy and recklessness slowly creeps up on him again and again as he pushes himself further and further into his magic. His heart is torn in two ways, and he may need all of the reassurance from ones he holds dear to choose the right path…

Some Catradora Heacanons because it’s been two months and I’m still not over it

- After the war and the celebration, but before going to space, Adora and Catra go back to Bright Moon. Adora is tired and so they decide to sleep. The next morning Catra wakes up and finds Adora basically sleeping on top of her. Adora wakes for a moment, smile sleepily to Catra and says that today they are going to sleep in and Glimmer has instruction to not bother them. “What if I want to go out?” asks Catra (she has no intention of going out, she’s being a little shit to tease Adora). “No, you cant - says Adora - because today you are my pillow” and Catra blushes.

- In all my headcanons Catra likes to tease, then Adora makes her blush by saying something very sweet. I’m not mad about it

- If you missed I did a headcanon for their proposal: I’m still very proud of it. I kinda want to write a fic but english is not my first language and...

- Unpopular opinion time: Adora doesn’t actually like buff girls (like Huntara). She actually wants to be a buff girl (like Huntara). It’s a typical WLW experience. “Do I want to be with her or to be like her?”.

- Not Catradora, but... Perfuma likes buff girls. Really like buff girls. No doubts about it.

- Adora is the jealous one. Like Catra trusts Adora totally now. Like, you know, the destruction of reality and the kiss at the end of the world gave her a new prospective on life, so she’s chill. But Adora... Adora put her feelings to sleep for years. And now she sees things. And she doesn’t like when people flirt with Catra and it happens too much for her liking, especially during the space travel

- I like the idea of Finn. I like the idea of Finn being adopted by Catra and Adora. I like the idea of Finn being their child. I don’t like the idea of a sperm donor. Like: there’s magic in Etheria. Adora is She-ra. I don’t think you need to explain how they got a kid. (Same thing with Bow and his fathers. I don’t need a scientific explanation in a world with magic and people fighting in space) (P.S. Trans headcanons are absolutely valid)

- Also Finn comes in the picture after the future of the vision. I think they need a lot of time to grow and overcome their trauma before becoming parents

- Perfuma will help Catra with her trauma. Yes, they will be meditation but not just that because I can’t see Catra being okay just with some meditation. The thing Catra regrets the most is opening the portal and the death of Angella. So Perfuma tells her to talk to Angella and Catra thinks she’s out of her mind of course. How can she talk with Angella if there’s no Angella? And Perfuma tells her to try, maybe to talk to her portrait or something. And in the middle of the night, when everybody is sleeping, Catra tries, because she does that now, she tries. And she says sorry, she tells Angella about her life and of course she talks about Glimmer, how proud and lucky she’s to be her friend now. And this talking with a portrait works for Catra. So every week,in the middle of the night, she goes to Angella’s mural and talks to her. At first it’s mostly about how sorry she is about everything and that she wishes that things are different. But then she kinda tells about her and Adora and mostly about Glimmer and Micah. It’s a ritual. Like a prayer. One day Glimmer discovers her. She hides so she can listen. She decides to let Catra have this secret, but in that moment, whatever deep down feeling of hate she still had for Catra disappears forever.

Okay! I'm really excited to introduce you to...

Manatale!

Mana is basically magic in this Au. Everyone has nature based magic.

After the First Monster-Human War, Monsters weren't forced Underground. Instead they were trapped behind a barrier surrounding the forest in the shadow of Mt. Ebott. After their banishment, Mana that once freely flowed through the Earth, disappeared. Once Mana had disappeared Mages began to die out, fading from history alone with the Monsters.

After Monsters are freed, Mana once again flows freely through the Earth. Because of this Mana, Mages began to make a reappearance, their dormant magic building in their SOULs.

However... The sudden influx of magic was to great for the Earth to take and it spawed a massive magical storm that ravaged the Earth.

It stopped raining. Lakes and rivers began to dry. Crops were nearly impossible to grow. Humans blamed the Monsters and Mages for the catastrophe and declared war.

This is where our story begins...

Frisk (Nico) and Chara (Ari): Chara (Ari 14) is the older, more daring, outgoing, mischievous sibling. While Frisk (Nico 13) is the younger, shyer, more level headed (but no less mischievous) sibling. The pair of them are very adventurous and have explored many places, despite their young ages. They heard stories of the mystical forest all their lives, and after the deaths of their aunts, they set out to explore the one place they were forbidden to set foot in. They stumbled through the dense ever forbidding forest before Toriel finds them and leads them to safety. The "game" starts when they enter the forest. Ari, Nico, and Miach are taken in by the Royal Family after they freed Monsterkind from their eternal prison. They are now 19 and 18 respective

Kris (Micah): Ari and Nico's older sibling. Kris (Miach 18) always seems to get dragged into their misadventures. Stoic, quiet, somewhat detached, they can be hard to relate to when you first meet them. Once you get to know them though, they are more prone to show their mischievous side (They're also a huge freaking dork). They love their siblings very much. They're not very keen on physical touch most of the time. They are now 23

Sans (Ike) this quick-witted skeleton is a jokester at heart and always has a joke or a pun at the ready. Despite his playful personality, he knows when it's time to be serious. He's always ready with a metaphorical ear when one of his friends has troubles and is always ready with a smile and a joke to cheer them up. He is much hardier than UT!Sans and he has more endurance.

Papyrus (Arlo): Second command of the Guard and keeper of the puzzles. Arlo is driven, bright, and takes his job very seriously. Like his brother, though, he's always ready with an open arms and a shoulder if he notices someone is having a rough time. His main mission in life is to be kind and protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Gaster (Rune): Not much is known about the mysterious adviser and Royal Scientist to the Royal Family. He is quiet and methodical and, at times cold, but behind the aloof mask, every so often, you can catch glimpses of a caring father and devoted friend. He, along with a team of other brilliant scientists, erected a barrier to protect Monterkind from attacks by the S.T.E.M faction.

Undye(Moxie): After being blinded in both eyes during the second Monster-Human War she took Papyrus in as the second in command, hoping he could take her place as head of the guard one day. Although still headstrong and a bit reckless, she has become more grounded and even tempered after losing her sight.

Alphys(Lumin): While she's still shy as a mouse, she's much more outgoing than her UT! counterpart. Modest to a fault she's not one to brag about her various accomplishments. It takes a while to get her out of her shell but once she starts to trust you, you have a true and loyal friend for life.

Toriel(Florian): The Queen of Monsterkind and Wife of Ragnar. She runs a shelter for orphaned monster and mage children. Can cause all flora life around her to flourish with her magic. She's always willing to lend a paw to those in need, no matter what species. She has always been soft at heart and serious. She will not hesitate to fight for those she cares about. She can be cold to those that don't see eye to eye with her.

Asgore(Ragnar): The King of Monsters and Husband of Florian. He is a kind and fair ruler and father. After the Second Monster-Human War and the creation of the S.T.E.M organization his heart has hardened slightly toward humanity.

Asriel(Lucan): The price of monsters is a kind, gentle SOUL like his father. This teen has devoted his life to helping and protecting his people.

Mettaton(Allegro): he guards the Royal Lab (despite hating it).When he's not there he can be found at the Queen's orphanage, entertaining the children or performing on one of the many stages that call his name.

Monster Kid (Finn): Nico, Ari's and Lucan's best friend. The four of them have been inseparable since childhood. He's energetic, clumsy, and a bit reckless, but his heart is in the right place.

Reader: guarded and rough around the edges from years on the run. They feel it is them against the world and they don't make friends easily. Underneath that tough exterior though… they're understanding and compassionate. They just want to stay safe.

Finn is now one of my favorites, I’m not even sorry for the domestic fluff that’s going to come.

Warnings: (Age 16.5) shark attack, (Age 18) physical therapy, (Age 18.5) tattoos, (Age 19) breakup

Age 16.5

Finn begged his mom to let him meet his friends at Colony beach after church one Sunday, and with some provoking on Silas’ part— he gathers his board and decides to forego the wet suit, he wouldn’t be out long anyway. They spend just a few hours chasing waves and riding them back in, Micah— one of Finn’s best friends— teasing him about that girl he’s been crushing on.

And Finn feels a hard knock into his board— hard enough to knock him away from it. He sputters for air once he resurfaced, trying to look and get a grip on the situation unfolding in front of him. And then he sees the fin of a great white and he feels the searing pain in his legs. His friends are alerted by his blood curdling scream and they watch him bob up in the water, thrashing around as the waves turn a bright crimson. The shark isn’t backing off, after each bite to his body there comes another and another— it’s sinking it’s teeth into his torso. He can feel his flesh being ripped from his body and the water is burning his lungs just as much as this pain is.

And then, there’s dolphins— and he’s dropped from the sharks mouth. He can hear his friends screaming, trying to pull himself onto his half broken board. He thinks he’s going to die, lying there. And he’s sure it’ll be back for him. He can’t fucking move. He’s floating in a widening circle of his own blood, losing more of it by the minute. His hands are cut open, slashed and bruised— and he hears the sirens of the coast guard. And he feels hands pulling his body onto the boat, “my mom’s going to kill me.” He breathes out, coughing up the blood curdling in his lungs.

Age 17

Finn has endured so many skin grafts and surgeries to repair his bone and muscles. He’s been home three weeks. He walks with a cane now, attends physical therapy three times a week, and sees his psychiatrist once a week. Silas has the teeth the Great White had lodged into his little brother’s back in a little jar in his closet. Finn and Silas are watching Jurassic Park when they hear that knock on the door.

Silas answers it, smiling at you— as you stand there with chocolate chip cookies. “I brought Finn some cookies.” You say softly, holding the tin out to him. “I’ve just been worried about him.” And behind Silas, you see Finn turn his head on the couch to look at you— his cheeks are turning a bright red and Silas ushers you in, letting Finn cover his legs up with a throw blanket. There is no way he’s letting his little brother’s biggest crush fall right out of his grasps.

Age 17.5

Finn graduates on time, even with the year he’s out recovering. He’s leaning on his cane each time they ask him to stand— his dad had made sure he was home for this. Finn has worked so hard. Through all of the pain and sleepless nights, he’s made sure to complete his assignments and get them in on time. The damage in his hands never makes his hands feel great afterwards, but he doesn’t give up. He needs his diploma.

He needs to see you watch him receive his diploma. You clap and smile and cheer for your baby. The boy you had admired for so long, but couldn’t work the courage up to ask out until after his accident. And now when he pulls you in close, pressing the softest kiss to your lips as he tries to stay upright— your heart bursts into a million peaceful sections. Finn is your home.

Age 18

Finn smiles when you sit in on his physical therapy appointments. While his nurse holds his hips, helping him walk without his cane for the first time in over a year. You’re taking a recording, grinning and praising him for doing such a good job. And the giggle from Jackie, his nurse, when you press the most gentle kiss on his cheek is something that will live in your heart forever. “Do you want to try alone, Finn?” She asks quietly, you’re hoping he says yes. You want to be here to see it.

And he just nods, smiling when Jackie reaches for your phone and instructs you on where to stand. Your hands are outstretched as Finn makes his first few staggered and painful steps on his own. Everyone’s cheering for him, he’s come so far from the kid to survive the most severe Great White attack in Maine. And when he makes it to you, you support his weight with your arms wrapped around his waist. “I’m so proud of you, Fish.” You smile, nudging his nose with your own. And he just grins.

Age 18.5

You smile as you walk into the tattoo parlor with him. He’s been nervous this entire week as the date grew closer and closer. And you hold his hand as he explains to the artist that he was in a freak accident a few years back and wanted this tattoo to start on his journey of sort of reclaiming his body. She’s understanding, offers up a booth in the back behind a screen for his privacy.

And that’s the first time you see the scars on his torso, when he pulls off that chunky sweater and has the stencil applied right above the bite marks on his ribs. “Can I take a picture, Fishy?” You ask softly, only getting a nod from Finn, covering his face a bit. You make sure to capture the process of Finn’s first and only tattoo. A pretty great white right on his rib cage.

Age 19

It isn’t long now, that you’re leaving him and Finn knows. But he’s been trying to hold on to the hope that you won’t forget him for so long. You’re packing your bags for Florida and he’s so proud of you for going off and paving your own path. For getting into college, furthering your education. But watching you— the only person that’s ever loved him, not thought of the scars he chooses to show as some scary thing— leave him hasn’t been easy.

And he helps stack your boxes up, ready to leave. And you drive him home. Neither of you say a word. Because you love each other so much and you know this is it. This is your last night together and neither of you want to admit it. “So… what does this mean?” Finn is the first to speak, clearing his throat as he stares at his lap.

“I don’t think… Florida’s a long ways away, Fish…” you sigh heavily, wanting to reach out and grab his hand. Comfort him in any way that you possibly could. But you can’t. You have to sit here and wait to say what you both don’t want to hear. “I don’t think we should…” you continue. You watch as Finn starts untying the string bracelet you had tied around his wrist at his graduation. The one that he’s never taken off. You watch him drop it into your lap and he gets out, slamming the door behind him.

And you do try calling him, three days in a row— giving up on the day that you make your drive to Orlando. And you don’t hear from him. Not until the following year, when you make your way home to Kennebunkport utterly defeated from Orlando and he’s waiting right there for you.
