Am I the only one who thinks Findie's "Beep beep beep!" is really cute and lowkey kinda relaxing? I just love Findie's voice so much!

Here comes my @tolkienrsb 2024 art! (Acrylic, 40x80cm) I've also been fascinated by the time period in the Years of the Trees before the conflicts within the Noldor truly boil over, but when they are just starting to arise. The "Finwëan family picnic" painting has in some form or another been going back and forth from WIP/abandoned WIP since 2021, so I am also happy to finally have done the idea justice :D

The fic for this piece has been written by @skaelds, who managed to beautifully bring the painting alive in her words and expand on the little moments we see, tying the little scenes together in the evening that the family shares at their yearly picnic. As the Finwëans try to cherish the yearly meeting, the many little tensions and cracks in the peace beautifully explore this strange moment in Aman. Been thinking about Findis and Fëanor a lot lately. She's barely textual, but there's SO MUCH that could have been going on there. She's the eldest of Indis's children, so she was his FIRST half sibling. Even before Fingolfin. Idk I just think there's a lot of untapped potential in this relationship.

More thoughts about the AU where Finwe's children get along:

The more I think about it the more I realize this Feanor and Fingolfin have a very similar relationship to canon M&M

This is an absolutely terrifying thought

No really M&M cause So Many Problems and Feanor and Fingolfin would be 1000x worse

The fact that Lalwen is there as an additional agent of chaos does not help

Theoretically Findis is still a quiet poet and scholar living away from Tirion

In practice she's one of Feanor's favorite people to scheme with

She also pride herself on being an enabler for whatever her nieces and nephews come up with

Finarfin has to put up with the absolute torment that is having four doting older siblings >:(

Feanor insists on making him lots of hair jewelry and Finarfin always pretends to be annoyed by it, even though he really isn't

Occasionally the five siblings work together– this is very bad for the peace and quiet of Valinor

Finwe is having a great time
