Why Talking to Someone Matters: The Psychology Behind Sharing Feelings
Tumblr media
In today’s fast-paced digital world, many people struggle with loneliness, stress, and emotional burdens. While social media and messaging apps have made communication easier, they often lack the depth of real conversations. That’s where Reeamor comes in — a platform designed to provide companionship and a safe space to share your feelings without the pressure of a dating app.
But why is talking to someone so important? Let’s explore the psychological benefits of sharing your emotions and how Reeamor can help.
The Science Behind Sharing Feelings
1. Emotional Release & Stress Reduction
Bottling up emotions can lead to anxiety, depression, and even physical health issues. Talking about your feelings provides emotional catharsis, helping you process emotions better. Studies show that expressing emotions reduces stress and promotes mental clarity.
2. Improved Mental Health
Sharing thoughts and feelings with someone can help in dealing with loneliness, sadness, and anxiety. According to psychological research, simply verbalizing emotions can reduce their intensity, making it easier to cope with challenges.
3. Strengthening Social Connections
Humans are social beings, and talking to someone helps strengthen relationships. Even if it’s a one-time conversation, it can bring a sense of belonging and connection. Reeamor provides a unique space where users can talk to someone without expectations or long-term commitments.
4. Better Decision-Making & Problem-Solving
When you talk about a problem, you gain new perspectives and clarity. Whether it’s a personal issue or work-related stress, discussing it with someone can help you find solutions.
5. Boosted Self-Confidence & Emotional Resilience
Expressing emotions helps in self-awareness and personal growth. Talking to someone about your thoughts and fears can boost self-confidence and make you more emotionally resilient over time.
How Reeamor Helps You Find a Listener
Reeamor is not a dating app — it’s a safe space for emotional connection and companionship. Whether you need someone to talk to after a long day, share your thoughts, or just have a casual conversation, Reeamor connects you with real people who care.

I thought I might remake and tweak a post of mine from a few Pride Months ago.
Being queer in fandom often means enjoying and finding meaning in your own interpretations of characters, but it can still be nice to see bits of yourself reflected in official media. So for my own entertainment I tried compiling a list of Doctor Who companions who were established as or intentionally implied to be queer in licensed stories. In a franchise as long-lived, wide-reaching, and beloved by queer people as Doctor Who, that criteria can be flexible and subjective, but here’s what I came up with anyway.
I’ve given references to the stories where the companions’ sexuality is confirmed or implied (I haven’t included Time Lords even though their own relationship to gender and sexuality is automatically queer compared to humans). I included specific sexualities only when I remember it being specified enough to warrant it, but obviously this could easily be debated endlessly.
This list is limited by what I remember and can find out, and if you want to reblog and add on to it feel free! It’s in order from the Doctor’s point of view, for the sake of my sanity (though I believe in order of publication, the first companion to be explicitly queer is Chris Cwej).
-Oliver Harper (gay, audio The Cold Equations) -Liz Shaw (the BBV spin-off P.R.O.B.E.) -Mike Yates (implied in novel Happy Endings) -Adric (bi, audio A Full Life) -Nyssa (webcast Farewell, Sarah Jane) -Tegan Jovanka (webcast Farewell, Sarah Jane) -Ace McShane (bi, implied in Survival and the audio The Grey Man of the Mountain) -Bernice Summerfield (bi, novel Genius Loci etc) -Chris Cwej (novel Damaged Goods) -Izzy Sinclair (lesbian, comic Oblivion) -Fey Truscott-Sade (comic Oblivion) -Sam Jones (bi, novel Seeing I) -Fitz Kreiner (bi, novel The Taint etc) -Liv Chenka (audio Wild Animals etc) -Helen Sinclair (lesbian, audio The Love Vampires) -Tania Bell (transgender lesbian, audio Wild Animals etc) -Jack Harkness (pan, The Doctor Dances etc) -Cindy Wu (bi, comic Breakfast at Tyranny's etc) -River Song (pan, The Husbands of River Song) -Valarie Lockwood (bi, audio All of Time and Space etc) -Clara Oswald (bi, implied in The Magician’s Apprentice, Face the Raven) -Bill Potts (lesbian, The Pilot etc) -Yasmin Khan (Eve of the Daleks etc) -Rose Noble (transgender, The Star Beast etc)
Shoutout to all the companions I missed, to companions who almost make the list, to recurring characters, and of course to all our headcanons.

The best art motivation is the same as the fabula of good twilight zone episodes, aka coming up with a scenario that makes you think "would that be fucked up or what"

i think baldur's gate should add a feature where i can give my companions presents. and they could limit approval you can gain through that so you cannot cheese high approval rates. but i think i should have the option to shower my motley crew of disaster bisexuals with presents if i want to.
i also think that when you reach high approval with a companion, but you are not romancing them, you should be able to ask them for a hug, much like you can ask to kiss the companion you have a romantic relationship with. which would likely necessitate a method of clarifying that your player is not romantically interested in a companion, without you know, breaking their heart. a feature i'm sure that would be MOST welcomed by the playerbase.

Just watched Fury from the Deep and I love Victoria's exit so much it breaks my heart. She's so worn down by their travels always ending up full of danger and death and her always being put in the position of damsel in distress. She really doesn't want to leave jamie and the doctor but she doesn't want that life and I love that it let's her make that choice. And I love that Jamie's concerned she won't be happy living in, what is to them, the future but she acknowledges she's changed too much to go back to Victorian England, and she's highly unlikely to get back there anyway, not without more death and danger. That the doctor changes his mind about slipping away in the night and agrees to stay another day so Victoria can think about her decision properly without feeling as pressured. The fact that she knows the doctor won't say a proper goodbye because that's his way. The way she stands on the beach watching them row out to the tardis, knowing she'll never see either of them again. The fact she doesn't go back to the tardis with them to collect her belongings. Jamie's "I don't care where we go next" because he's miserable that Victoria made that decision. The Doctor's "I was fond of her too, you know" which is the closest he'll get to admitting how much he cares about them all. I just love it
#i just have so many thoughts about her#i love that the story builds to her exit with her saying shes tired of being frightened and asking why they never end up anywhere nice#her exit's similar to tegans in that theyre both worn out and sick of it but i love where tegans exit is impulsive#and very much in the heat of the moment#you see victoria considering it throughout the episode even though she cant bring herself to say it to jamie and the doctor#and yeah i just love that we get to see the travelling take its toll bc when you get down to it she is just a kid who never signed up#for any of this#and where new who companions get breaks between adventures and have lives outside the doctor#classic who companions dont get any of that by virtue of the 'the doctor cant control the tardis' so the doctor and his lifestyle is all#they have#and it goes even more so for victoria bc shes one of the orphaned companions who has nowhere to go back to#(sidenote i was thinking the other day about how many classic companions have nowhere they want to go back to particularly with 1 2 and 5#which fits with the whole 'cant control the tardis so they cant ever go back so we better make companions who dont want to'#idk i just love that so many of the classic exits are companions finding a new home/realising they can do good in this new place#like they can never go back to their old home and they end up with their temporary tardis family until they find somewhere new to call home#and ik we rarely see the outcomes of these decisions so we dont know if they were the right ones but still)#anyway this was about victoria#in conclusion: i love her and her exit#doctor who#victoria waterfield#jamie mccrimmon#second doctor

Watching the Behind the Sofa features for the season 2 Hartnell episodes (surprisingly they’re on YouTube but who knows when that could get taken down) is a weird experience because a lot of the time it’s really enjoyable seeing the various reactions and they’re often very complimentary towards things that you don’t see people appreciate enough, which makes me quite happy, and then other times out of nowhere you’ll get odd comments of a few of the actresses perceiving certain lines as sexist or something. Specifically in The Time Meddler, which was otherwise a crowd favorite among them, Steven complimenting Vicki on being clever was apparently patronizing, and they acted as if the Doctor telling Vicki to keep her nose away when he was messing with the Monk’s TARDIS was him brushing off her questions as if she needs to stay in her place or something, when in context he’s dealing with precarious electrical wires and was telling her not to get her face so close because it could give her a shock — he says as much, but they talk over it. I enjoy very much that they were often appreciating things that people look over and really getting into a lot of it, but every now and again something like that would take me out of it. Don’t like when people attribute their own assumptions or biases as the meaning of something that was totally innocent.

Imagine how absolutely perplexing it would be for Yaz to meet Clara after she's left the doctor. Like neither of them know they're former companions, they just both meet and get wrapped up in some crazy adventure and it all feels a little too familiar to Yaz. And the second she steps into Clara's tardis her brain just short circuits. Like how could this possibly have happened twice.
