While billionaires stash fortunes in offshore havens, the IRS is targeting gig workers who make a few bucks answering questions on a platform where people earn side income by sharing expertise.
A federal court in California has authorized the IRS to demand records from JustAnswer. While ProPublica revealed that America's wealthiest often pay lower tax rates than schoolteachers, the IRS is focusing its investigative muscle on gig workers trying to earn extra income.
"The world is getting smaller for tax cheats," crowed IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel, in a Department of Justice press release – though apparently not small enough to catch the billionaire class exploiting sophisticated tax avoidance schemes. While JustAnswer users face scrutiny, the wealthiest Americans continue employing armies of accountants to legally dodge billions in taxes through complex trusts and partnerships that the IRS fails to audit.

An Act to Establish the Federal Courts of the United States
Record Group 11: General Records of the United States GovernmentSeries: Enrolled Acts and Resolutions of CongressFile Unit: Public Law, 1st Congress, 1st Session, Part 1: United States Judicial Courts. September 24, 1789
In the Judiciary Act of 1789, Congress established with great particularity a limited jurisdiction for the district and circuit courts, gave the Supreme Court the original jurisdiction provided for in the Constitution, and granted the Court appellate jurisdiction in cases from the Federal circuit courts and from the state courts where those courts' rulings had rejected Federal claims. The decision to grant Federal courts a jurisdiction more restrictive than that allowed by the Constitution represented a recognition by the Congress that the people of the United States would not find a full-blown Federal court system palatable at that time. For nearly all of the next century the judicial system remained essentially as established by the Judiciary Act of 1789.
Congress of the United States,
begun and held at the City of New York on
Wednesday the fourth of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty nine.
[centered heading/title:] An Act to establish the Judicial Courts of the United States.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
That the Supreme Court of the United States shall consist of a Chief Justice and five associate justices, any four of whom shall be a quorum, and shall hold annually at the seat of government two sessions, the one commencing the first Monday of February, and the other the first Monday of August. That the associate Justices shall have precedence according to the date of their Commissions, or when the Commissions of two or more of them bear date on the same day, according to their respective ages.
And be it further enacted, That the United States shall be, and they hereby are divided into thirteen districts, to be limited and called as follows, to wit: One to consist of that part of the State of Massachusetts which lies easterly of the State of New Hampshire, and to be called Main [sic] district; One to consist of the State of New Hampshire, and to be called New Hampshire district; One to consist of the remaining part of the State of Massachusetts, and to be called Massachusetts district; One to consist of the State of Connecticut, and to be called Connecticut district; One to consist of the State of New York, and to be called New York district; One to consist of the State of New Jersey, and to be called New Jersey district; One to consist of the State of Pennsylvania, and to be called Pennsylvania district; One to consist of the State of Delaware, and to be called Delaware district; One to consist of the State of Maryland, and to be called Maryland district; One to consist of the State of Virginia, except that part called the district of Kentucky, and to be called Virginia district; One to consist of the remaining part of the State of Virginia, and to be called Kentucky district; One to consist of the State of South Carolina, and to be called South Carolina district; and one to consist of the State of Georgia, and to be called Georgia district.

The Satanic Temple is very bad at court cases (December 2023)
Changes from November include:
Confirmation both Travis County, Texas, lawsuits have not seen any new filings in more than one year.
Ninth Circuit granted TST partial victory in form of an additional opportunity to make defamation claims in federal district court against Johnson et al Defendants.
Full list on The.Satanic.Wiki
Full list on r/TheSatanicCirclejerk
Moreover, we’re still being sued by The Satanic Temple in federal appellate court and now King County Superior Court.
TST is also still suing Newsweek and its reporter (but maybe not her anymore!) for writing about us. In addition, The Satanic Temple is now suing a TikToker in Texas for talking about our case. Check the pinned post for more.
While it looks bad on its own, compare how things looked just one short year ago for The Satanic Temple and notice how so many of those "ongoing" cases turned out.
When it comes to The Satanic Temple, there's always more and it's always worse.

The U.S. Army has told units to prepare for deployment at the U.S.-Mexico border in the next 24 to 48 hours.
Trump declared a 'state of emergency' at the border, despite the fact that we have a fully staffed border patrol and we are not in a wartime footing with Mexico.
National Science Foundation freezes grants in response to Trump executive orders
Native Americans concerned that they may be rounded up in mass deportation efforts due to racial profiling
Trump states that GAZA should be 'swept clean' and over one million refugees to be moved to Egypt and Jordan. (these countries have refused by the way)
Trump also mentions that Gaza has 'great beachfront property' and his son in law Jared Kushner, a friend of Netanyahu since childhood, has made the same statements that Gaza would be great place to build condos (and not for Palestinians)
Despite a 'cease fire' attacks have continued in Gaza, many by settler groups with police esorts, as soon as Trump lifted Biden era sanctions on settler incursions.
some USAID officials were put on leave for not abiding Trump's order to halt all international aid.
Trump has placed all Diversity and Inclusion federal employees across agencies on paid leave for 30 days until their positions are terminated.
The US Air Force took down a video for new recruits showcasing the Tuskegee Airmen, a famous all black fighting force from WW2, as well as the WAVES, women who joined the service during WW2.
The advisory office of DOGE now run solely by Elon Musk, a US government contractor puts him in nominal charge of government programs, a conflict of interest, however he has been booted from an office next to Trump in the White House to another building.
This Department of Government Efficiency now is taking over the US Digital Service in charge of all US gov websites, including the new IRS Free File (where you can do your taxes online for free, a holdover from the Biden Administration.)
Trump is paving the way for the Pentagon to remove transgender service members
The Quaker faith have taken the Trump administration to court over a new policy to enter churches and religious spaces in mass deportation efforts.
Trump puts hold on refugees - hundreds of thousands of people fleeing strife in Ukraine, Afghanistan, Haiti and Venezuela have been stopped from entering the US - the program was bipartisan and many have waited years in a legal process to enter.
Trump has revoked a Biden admin program that allowed 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans and nearly 1 million migrants allowed into the country through an app called CBP One, all of these individuals are now targeted for deportation.
Vice President Vance complained when U.S. Catholic bishops condemned ICE entering places of employment, churches and schools in mass deportation raids (lifting an Obama era restriction)
Vice President Vance states that Big Tech is too powerful in the US, at the same time Musk, Bezos and Zuckerberg, along with other 'tech bros' were featured at Trump's inauguration, seated in front of his cabinet picks.
Trump fires DOJ employees who worked on Trump's prosecution for insurrection on Jan 6 as well as his stolen US government 'eyes only' documents. Republicans are investigating the bi-partisan Jan 6th investigations under the Biden administration.
Trump pardoned more than 1,500 individuals for their crimes during the Jan 6th insurrection, this has lead to backlash among a bi-partisan Congress as well as the public. One of the insurrectionists was killed by police at a conflict on his day of release, another was re-arrested for breaking his parole for previous convictions.

Palestinians are taking the Biden administration to court this week
The week, a federal court in Oakland will begin hearing arguments in a lawsuit accusing the Biden administration of failing to prevent a genocide in Gaza. The case could bring U.S. support for the Israeli assault on Gaza to a halt.

Federal judge tosses Kansas machine gun possession case on Second Amendment grounds
A U.S. District Court judge in Kansas on Wednesday dismissed machine gun possession charges against a defendant, finding that prosecutors hadn’t proven the weapons can be banned under the Second Amendment. The decision marks a potentially seismic shift in firearm regulations if it is appealed and stands. Machine guns have been prohibited for decades – a ban that has remained in place even as restrictions on guns have been dramatically weakened in Kansas, Missouri and other states over time.

Artificial Intelligence and the Rise of Product Liability Tort Litigation: Novel Action Alleges AI Chatbot Caused Minor’s Suicide
As we predicted a year ago, the Plaintiffs’ Bar continues to test new legal theories attacking the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in courtrooms across the country. Many of the complaints filed to date have included the proverbial kitchen sink: copyright infringement; privacy law violations; unfair competition; deceptive and acts and practices; negligence; right of publicity,…

A federal appeals court shocked voting rights groups on Monday with a ruling that only the US government, not outside groups or citizens, could sue to enforce the Voting Rights Act’s provisions.
The civil rights law, which outlaws racial discrimination as it relates to voting, has typically been enforced by lawsuits from these groups, not by the government itself. Now that the Republican-appointed eighth circuit court of appeals has made the ruling by 2-1, this “private right of action” to enforce Section 2 of the law is called into question.
...
The ruling is not simply an esoteric question of law: it would dismantle the primary mechanism voting rights groups use to protect against racial discrimination in voting, often in the form of lawsuits challenging electoral maps.
Voting rights groups expect the ruling will be appealed to the US supreme court. The eighth circuit ruling applies to the states the circuit court covers: Arkansas, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Wendy Weiser, the vice-president for democracy at the Brennan Center for Justice, called the decision “radical” and wrote on X that it was “deeply wrong, and it goes against decades of precedent and practice”.

Google Ruled a Monopoly in Court: Now What?
Last week, Google was found to be an illegal monopoly in federal court. Crazy—now what?
It's no secret that we all use Google more than any other search engine. It's quite literally in the vernacular as the default term meaning, "to search for online." It's on all of our devices, owns our favorite entertainment and media platforms, and sells a myriad of both physical and tangible products. Google is a big player, and that's why the DOJ took issue with their grasp on the market with this landmark antitrust case.
Let's break down United States v. Google.
The Department of Justice alleges Google has struck anticompetitive deals with Apple, Samsung, and other companies for prime placement of its search engine, although Google contends its dominant market share is simply the defacto result of it's "superior product."
On August 5, DC Judge Amit Mehta issued his ruling in federal court:
"...the court reaches the following conclusion: Google is a monopolist, and it has acted as one to maintain its monopoly. It has violated Section 2 of the Sherman Act."
The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 (26 Stat. 209, 15 U.S.C. §§ 1–7) is a US antitrust law precribing the rule of free competition among those engaged in commerce, prohibiting unfair monopolies. Essentially, it means no sole company can own everything in a market; a rule we stray further from as time passes.
So what exactly does this mean for Google?
In the biggest technological antitrust case since Microsoft in the 1990s, Google being found to be an illegal monopoly is huge. While we won't exactly know the long-term implications of this ruling on Google as a company for what will likely be years, we do know that both parties submit proposed schedules to remedy the illegal conduct by September 4, and appear at a status conference two days later on September 6th.
Don't worry—I'll keep you updated on this!
Even though that's not the most satisfying news, it's still a huge win, and one competitors are already celebrating. Yelp CEO Jeremy Stoppelma had the following to say, "While we’re heartened by the decision, a strong remedy is critical."
What do you think of this case? Let me know!

In the United States, the primary antagonistic actor against the working class is the circuit court system, which runs amok violating federal law and the constitution on a daily basis, while also laundering money for drug cartels and other actors tied to foreign intelligence.
The U.S. federal court system is supposed to be able to be used by the working class as an enforcement mechanism against unlawful lower court and corporate actors, but there is an entity preventing that from occurring.
At the individual state level, the U.S. government is run by quasi-government affiliated and government adjacent entities that actively sabotage the daily lives of the working class.
Whether the federal government is tied to the quasi-state foreign intelligence affiliated actors or not, they have the information available to realize what is happening and are doing nothing about it.
U.S. state and local internet connected systems have the fingerprints and the financial trail of being sourced from Israeli intelligence.

I gotta tell ya, on that miserable November morning in 2016 when that 'person' received the most electoral votes, I never in a million years thought the deep south state of Georgia would be the beacon of light I needed. Way to rise above your raising Georgia!
Fun facts of the day!
- State charges cannot be pardoned by the President of the United States. They have to be pardoned by the governor of the state in which the crime was committed
- the governor of Georgia does not have pardon power, that power was stripped in 1943 by the Georgia state legislature
- TV cameras are forbidden in federal court. TV cameras are permitted in state court. It’s already been stated that Donald Trump’s Georgia trial will be televised
- Donald Trump will be booked, processed, fingerprinted, and have his mug shot taken just like any other person who enters the Fulton country jail. They don’t believe in special treatment down there
- the Georgia RICO statue carries a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence which cannot be revoked by a judge
