#Father/son bonding

One of my Passion Projects that I am still (slowly) working on. Maybe by sharing it here, it can find a bit more love. Anyone want a Leroux-Based Erik trying to figure out how to care for a kid, alone?? Synopsis:

When tragedy befalls the de Chagny family, the Ghost of their past is forced return from the shadows. In the ten years since Erik last saw his beloved Christine, and as they are finally reunited, her life slips away. Shattered, Erik is now left to raise the son he never knew he had. Together, Erik and Charles struggle through their new reality and their grief over Christine.

If only it were that simple. Those behind the de Chagny murders are now hunting down the sole ‘heir.’ The only way to protect Charles is to solve the mystery. In doing so, Erik discovers more of Christine’s secrets that she never had a chance to tell him. Snippet from Chapter 2:

Upon his majestic horse as black as the night around them, Erik broke from the forest to become the wall between mother and child and those who would harm them.

“You!” one of the men exclaimed, as their horses skid to an abrupt halt. “How–?”

“You cannot be rid of me so easily, Monsieur!” Erik’s sonorous voice echoed around them. “Your companions extend their grave invitations to you!”

“We have no qualms with you! Be gone, and we’ll spare your life!”

Erik allowed his voice to come just from him. “You speak as though you are not my prey,” came that growl, a tone that marked him as the Angel of Death.

Sharing Firewhiskey

This was inspired by the Hinnyfest prompt, but there's not really any actual Hinny content here so I'm not tagging the fest.

Harry steps out into the back garden, just as night begins to fall, his newborn son sleeping soundly in his arms. Ginny is fast asleep and Harry left Molly and Arthur in the kitchen with the excuse that he wanted to check on James.

Standing in their garden as he looks down at his son, Harry is hit with the sudden realisation that he is completely responsible for this small person. There’s so much more to raising a child than feeding them. He is the one who needs to make sure James knows he is loved and happy, and the one to be there when life knocks him down. 

And he has no idea how to do any of it.

‘I’m sorry if I’m hopeless at this.’ He says quietly to James, who sleeps on, undisturbed. 

For the first time in a while, he wishes he could speak to his dad, just for a moment, to ask if he felt the same way. Harry’s eyes grow misty, and with only James here to see them, he lets the tears fall. ‘They would have loved you so much.’ He whispers.

He isn’t sure how long passes, but soon the door creaks open behind them and Harry turns to see Arthur coming to join them, carrying two glasses of firewhiskey. ‘I thought you might like some company.’

Harry accepts the glass, and they drink in silence for a while, the quiet night falling around them. 

‘Does it ever go away?’ He asks eventually. ‘The worry?’

Arthur takes a moment to think.

‘I think every father asks himself that same question, I certainly did. And I’m sorry to tell you that it never goes away. ’ He says with a wry smile. ‘It changes. At first you’re worrying if they’re warm enough, have they eaten enough, then you worry about them hurting themselves as they start exploring the world. They make friends, bring them home and suddenly you have another one to worry about too.’ He looks pointedly at Harry at this who grins sheepishly.

Draining the last of the firewhiskey from his glass, Arthur continues. ‘Then they grow up, and they get married and start having babies of their own. Sometimes it’s hard, harder than you ever imagined it would be, but you also get to share in all their joy, all their triumphs.’ He clasps Harry on the shoulder. ‘And one day you’ll find yourself standing with your son, giving him the same advice you got from your father.’

Feeling his eyes growing misty again. Harry looks down at James as he blinks hard. ‘Thank you, Arthur.’ He says thickly. 

Arthur clears his throat loudly. ‘Now, hand over my grandson.’ He says after a moment, his voice overly bright. ‘We have important things to discuss.’

Harry passes James to his grandfather, and as he watches them together he is so grateful that if he can’t share this with his own dad, at least he gets to share it with Arthur.

Jason: okay, I didn’t forget about it. I didn’t know what to get you. but then it suddenly came to me, so.

Jason: *places large, bloodstained bag of broken computer parts on table*

Bruce: are those—

Jason: —the hard drives from the Russian case you’re working on? yeah. it took me a couple days, but I managed to get all of them. I know you were having trouble tracking them all down.

for the request thing, i don't remember exactly what u said masky and toby's relationship was like in ur au but could you draw them having some attempted father-son bonding?

Idk how I want to portray their relationship in my au just yet but I can promise u it is a ROCKY ONE !!!! At least 3 incredibly violent physical altercations between them (and at least 3 really emotional bonding moments)

do- do you think logan wakes up from a particularly awful nightmare crying out for his 'dad'/'pops' and wade of course immediately comforts him and settles him down, and later on, when he's got logan tucked firmly under his arm, he asks. He doesn't usually, but logan had never talked about his parents before and wade couldn't hold his tongue.

and logan flushes, and admits quietly that the nightmare was about charles dying, and wade doesn't push, but just holds logan that bit tighter

I'm so conflicted

On one hand, they gave us two cool Dark Choco designs to work with. We also have several cute moment like illusion!Dark Choco missing his father, the flashback, the final scene etc and I love those very much!

On the other, what do you mean he doesn't even physically appear and only gets mentioned in a couple of lines???

I not mad, just sad. They shouldn't have shown him in the trailer if he's not going to play a (bigger) role in the episode. They should've left him out completely sans his Magic Candy, letting us guessing/ thinking whether he'll appears or not. That way the back to back Dark Choco inclusion near the end will be stronger, we can finish the EP off with a final image of Dark Choco looking at the kingdom from afar, hinting at the eventual father-son reunion...

Anyways, I'm gonna go write a fanfic where Dark Cacao and Dark Choco traveled through EP 4 together now
