Sample: Diablo III and Ongoing Support (Diablo III)
This is more a flex of my community management and external communication skills. Still, I though it'd be interesting to talk about my approach and process when it comes to these kinds of things.
At this stage of development (being moved to the Classic Games team), internally we knew Diablo III was unlikely to get more paid content—because the primary Diablo team internally had already moved on to working on Diablo IV. D4 was still unannounced, but not ready enough to talk about yet. This is a hard place to be for your community. Players always want more, which isn't a bad thing; it means they're invested and care a lot about your project.
Writing this kind of communication has to appeal to that passion; you need to empathize with your audience, because you know they're going to be disappointed. Yes, you do need to focus on the positives of the situation—in our case, that the transition to Classic meant we could continue to support Seasons for the foreseeable future. Trying to communicate that "yes, you'll still have fun things to do before we move on to our next project" without explicitly talking about said future projects was a good challenge to tackle. How do you think I did? It was also a good opportunity to reflect on how far our game had come, and celebrate some of the wins that were aimed at the community. Themed Seasons, an effort I helped pitch and champion behind the scenes, were important to me as both a player and a community manager. I also advocated for better transparency, especially with feedback and PTR processes, and the Classic team was very supportive of that approach. It was nice to celebrate those efforts (even if it's a thing I don't really get credit for being involved in and should probably celebrate more).
This is another article which has since been taken down, but the Wayback Machine has been my friend here.
Diablo III and Ongoing Support
Whether your personal journey with Diablo III began today or nearly seven years ago upon our launch, we want to give you an update on our ongoing development efforts with the game. Here’s what you can expect going forward from Seasons and patches.
*****
Ongoing Content & Seasons
Beginning with Season 14, we introduced Themed Seasons. The goal was simple: change the expected gameplay loop and create unique experiences from Season to Season. Whether mixing up where the most rewarding gameplay lives or altering the source of your character’s most potent legendary powers, we want to continue to explore new and exciting ways to change how you play Diablo III.
Since the addition of themed Seasons, Season 16 was one of the most popular Seasons overall, with Season 17 showing similar participation. On PC alone, we saw nearly as many people return for Season 16 as Season 11, the first Season in which the Necromancer was available. We've heard your feedback about wanting new ways to play and to change up your gameplay experience. Based on your positive feedback and increased participation in Themed Seasons, we think we are moving in the right direction. Continue to let us know how we can make your adventures even better!
Our crew is hard at work crafting additional Themed Seasons, a new set for each class, dozens of Legendary powers, and some class balance changes. Quality of life and the occasional gameplay system updates are also within scope, as we evaluate how we can keep bringing new magic to the world of Sanctuary. These updates won’t arrive all at once, so if you don’t see something for your class right away, don’t worry; there’s something coming for everyone.
*****
PTR and Feedback
For Season 16, we tried a new approach to launching and executing a PTR. With only one week of public testing, patch notes were provided in advance and a follow-up preview into the final changes was posted before the patch went live.
This approach was highly successful. In the past, we would lose a lot of development potential to deploying additional PTR builds for incremental changes and, consequently, increase the amount of time it would take to deploy on our various supported platforms. PTR participation drops extremely rapidly after the first week, as does the amount of data and feedback, so we plan to continue to use this condensed PTR format going forward.
We also want to better highlight the changes made as a direct result of feedback. Not all changes happen because of PTR testing. Occasionally it’s from an amazing forum thread we read mid-season and have worked on (and tested internally) for several weeks in advance. Sometimes that “simple” quality of life request winds up being more complex than anticipated and gets punted to a future patch or cannot be implemented at all without unforeseen consequences. Other times someone swung by a designer’s desk at work and a brainstorm happened while they swapped tales about their Season Journey.
While one source isn’t always the reason behind a change we’ve made, we’re going to do our best to call out great feedback when it’s given, as well as further emphasize design intent and inspiration (when applicable) to changes in future patch notes. One thing is certain: we greatly appreciate the feedback and ask that you keep it coming, because inspiration comes from all places.
*****
Being Clear, Being Communicative
One thing we’ve been asked for is to clarify what our plans are, what (exactly) we’re working on, and where the future will take us. This blog is one of our first steps. More frequent presence and interaction from our community team on our new forums, especially around patches and PTR cycles, is another. We want to be able to talk and interact with members of our community around the world on a regular basis about the thing we love that brings us together: Diablo.
We hope we’ve provided you a better idea of where we’re at with Diablo III. In the meantime, we want Sanctuary to feel like home to all heroes, so you can return whenever you have the itch to slay monsters, don powerful Legendaries, and always find something a little new.

M&A - it's all about the little things!
I was made aware recently by a good friend of mine (!) that this is my 25th year anniversary, working in the world of M&A, specifically post merger integration – a scary thought indeed but also a moment to reflect perhaps on what if anything I’ve learnt. As consultants, we are frequently accused of looking for the big impact change…the magic bullet which will dramatically transform the project /…

Bonding as a System
Hello! This post will discuss the importance of bonding as a system, and some activities you and your headmates can do to try and grow closer together. We’re writing from our own experience as a system with members who, at this point, tend to get along much better than we used to due to the progress we’ve made trying to bond and get to know each other! These tips and suggestions may not work for everyone, but we still hope they’ll be useful to some folks. Let’s get started!
If you’re new to connecting as a system, please check out our post on establishing contact with headmates before reading this one. The post you’re reading now assumes that you already have some level of communication abilities with your headmates.
Having a headspace where your system members can interact internally can also be a useful tool, and building a headspace together can be a bonding activity in and of itself! If you’re interested in creating a headspace, our headspace post might also be beneficial.
Trying to bond as a system may be useful if:
- your system’s communication is shoddy at best
- you disagree or fight a lot
- you can’t seem to enjoy time in each other’s company
- you want to strengthen already established connections
- you need to lower dissociative barriers
- you just want to get to know each other better as system members!
All in all, we think that trying to bond as a system can be helpful for almost any system in almost any circumstance. As headmates, we share the same mind and body; why not take steps to ensure we can feel close and comfortable with each other?
We’ll break down potential bonding activities into two groups: internal and external.
Internal
Bonding internally can look incredibly different from system to system and even from headmate to headmate! Our system spends most internal bonding time in our headspace, but we do believe it is possible to bond without one. Here are a few bonding activities that your system can practice internally, in the safety and comfort of your own mind!
Talk to each other!
Seriously, just spend time having conversations and trying to get to know each other! Ask each other questions, or fill out the questions from plural ask games if you’re struggling to think of things to ask. Create inside jokes, goof off, have serious debates, confide in each other, and share as many moments together just talking as you can! Trust and communication won’t always come naturally overnight, but regularly making attempts to talk, laugh, and share with your headmates can be a fantastic way to bond.
You don’t have to talk with fully formed, complete thoughts! You can use the unique ways your system thinks and behaves in order to communicate. Sending emotions, images, or simply vibes are all great and valid ways to communicate!
It’s okay if your headmates can’t find much to talk about at first or have difficulties getting along! Practicing being an active listener and attempting to be receptive to your headmates’ ideas, even if you don’t agree with them, can ultimately help you all grow closer together as a collective.
Learn about each other’s interests!
If your headmates are distinct individuals, try spending time teaching each other about your own individual skills and interests. Ask your fangirl headmate to explain the plot of her favorite show to you. Ask your headmate who does homework to try and explain the concepts to you that they’re learning in school. Ask your headmate who loves Legos to talk about their favorite sets or what they like building most. Try treating each other like people who you genuinely want to get to know!
If you are having trouble finding common ground, expressing interest in each other’s interests can be a fantastic way to warm up to each other and help your whole system feel loved, wanted, and included.
Even if your system does not have distinct members, you can still try bonding over shared interests and having conversations with each other that pertain to the things you all like to do! You don’t have to be completely distinct or individual in order to bond and grow closer together over interests and activities.
Spend time together in headspace!
If your system has a headspace, there’s all sorts of fun activities y’all could do together within it! Headspaces are visualization tools and exercises in imagination, so if you can imagine it, you can include it in your headspace. Your system could go on a high fantasy adventure together, a deep sea diving expedition, or a horseback ride in the mountains! You could build a treehouse or clubhouse together, have a fashion show, or visit a castle in the clouds. The only limits are your own imagination! Try collaborating with your whole system to think of some fun, cozy, or exciting ways y’all could spend time together in your own headspace.
Of course, it doesn’t always have to be high action and excitement! Our system’s favorite way to bond internally is just chilling out in a cozy living room space that we designed together. We put on some relaxing music and just talk or spend time in each others’ presence. Even something small like this could prove to be a immensely uplifting bonding experience!
External
If your system experiences lots of cofronting or coconsciousness or if visualization and imagination don’t come naturally for you, external bonding activities might be a good way to go! Nearly anything that you do on your own can be modified into a group activity for your system. Here’s a few ideas to help y’all get started!
Make art and be creative!
Bust out your pens, markers, crayons, and paints, and start creating something new with your system! Each headmate can add their own unique element to the artwork. If you don’t cofront often, just keep your art piece out in a visible space with a note nearby encouraging others to take part if they wish. You could also try writing a story, song, or poem together, with each headmate adding their own ideas and contributions. Allow your headmates each to express themselves in ways they feel comfortable, and surprise yourselves with the beautiful masterpieces you come up with!
Divvy up actions!
Work on building a new hobby or skill and designate tasks for different headmates to do! Want to bake cupcakes? Have one headmate read the instructions, another assemble the ingredients, another mix and pour the batter, and someone else keep track of a timer while it’s in the oven. You can break up activities and tasks in this way for almost anything, making group activities that your whole system can take part in every day! You can even do chores or obligations in this way to help make daily life less exhausting or monotonous for your whole system.
If your system is struggling to have multiple cofronters remain present when doing activities together, remember that practice makes perfect! It’s okay if you all find this sort of exercise challenging at first. The more you all commit to working on being present together, the easier it may become in the future!
Have fun in cofront!
There’s a bunch of things you can do when other members are fronting together in order to have a fun, bonding experience with your headmates. Put together a movie night with popcorn and a pillow fort! Go for a walk at a nearby park or spend some time in your local library or coffee shop! Play videogames together! Host an in-system book club! Pamper yourselves with an at home spa day! Throw yourselves a fancy tea or dinner party!
Brainstorm with your system to come up with some fun ideas that y’all can do to bond together whenever multiple members are cofronting together! And remember that cofronting is not always a requirement for these sorts of things! Members can be coconscious and still able to enjoy and experience these bonding activities. Even if both cofronting and coconsciousness are impossible for your system right now, you can commemorate your positive experiences with collages, scrapbooks, pictures, and journal entries to help share your life with your headmates.
Wrapping Up
It’s never a bad idea to try to connect with and get to know your headmates better! Keep in mind thought that many systems may find it easier for their headmates to bond with each other in a plethora of different ways. If nothing we’ve mentioned here will work for your collective, why not try to collaborate to think of fun, interesting, achievable ways for your whole system to have fun and bond in ways that work for y’all? It may take time, effort, and practice, but we truly believe that your system will be able to establish ways to bond that work well for y’all!
If you’ve made it this far, thanks so much for reading! Our apologies that this post got so long. You’re welcome to share in a comment or reblog the ways in which your own system bonds and grows closer together. As always, thank you so much for reading, and have a wonderful day!

Beginners guide to manifesting!!
By love4ng1e 𝜗𝜚
Requested by @limitless180
Tumblr media
You asked for techniques, but Imma give you the whole pack because i'm cool like that. I'm going to keep it simple so you don't overcomsume. I said this was going to take a day or so, but never mind because I manifested time to make this.
I did a separate post on some of those stuff, but this is it all together. This is the only post you need.
─────── ༺ ❦︎ ༻ ───────
1.0: What is manifesting?
By simple definition manifesting is getting what you want. There is no need to make it any more complicated.
2.0: How to manifest?
There's multiple ways to manifest and there's no wrong or bad way.
I am a master manifestor, so I'll be honest and say that I do absolutely nothing to manifest except simply just acting like a master manifestor. I'll still give you ways I used that worked for me when I was a beginner, and that works for other people, too.
2.1: Robotic affirming.
Robotic affirming is repeatedly repeating any affirmation of your choice. What that does is reinforce that you have your desire and then plays out in your 3d (I will talk about the 3d a little farther).
It's very important to persist when it comes to this technique. Your affirm until it is factual in the 3d. You do not take no for an answer. It has no choice, but to manifest.
You repeat the affirmation any time. Regardless of what you're doing. As much as you want/feel necessary. Before falling asleep and first thing in the morning are both very powerful times. If you tend to forget, you can set alarms.
If this gets tiring to you, please switch techniques. This isn't for everyone.
2.2: Subliminals.
Subliminals are hidden affirmations under music/sounds. These affirmations directly bypass the conscious mind, directly to the subconscious mind (I also will talk about that a bit farther).
There are plenty of subliminal channels out there, but not all of them are trustworthy.
Good ones are:
I want it, I got it > link (she's my personal fav)
Cee > link
Baejin Cafe > link
Moza Morph > link
Kottie > link
Eve > link
Enchanted Workshop > link
Crystie > link
The best way to know if a subliminal channel is trustworthy is to read the comments. If there's none, I would stay away.
You can listen whenever you want. Headphones/Airpods are recommended.
2.3: Vision boards.
You can use pinterest for that. You simply make a board full of pins of what it is you want to manifest. For example, if you want a cat, you make a vision board full of cats. After that, you visualize it anytime you want. You can mediate while visualizing.
2.4 The law of assumption/loa.
The law of assumption/loa, also just called the law, was popularized by Neville Goddard, It focuses on your belief system. The core idea is whatever you assume to be true will manifest in your life.
Assume the feeling of wish fulfilled - Instead of focusing on attracting something external, you convince yourself that you already have it internally. That belief shifts your reality to align with that assumption.
Step 1: Identify what you want.
Step 2: Assume it's already yours. Feel and act as if your desires is already yours.
Step 3: Persist in the assumption. Even if your external reality doesn't reflect it yet, hold on to the belief until it manifests.
3.0: The 3d and the 4d.
There's the 3d and the 4d. The 3d is your physical world/external world. The 4d is imagination. Imagination is creation. Manifestation happens in the 4d.
The 4d is the only thing you need to focus on. Nobody cares about the 3d. The 4d is where everything happens, and then it shows up in the 3d. Therefore, circumstances do not matter.
Also time does not apply in the 4d so do not wait for your desires. It is already yours.
3.1: The conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
This is my personal take on the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
The conscious mind is the main part of your brain. It has rules and uses logic as its main principle. You live in xyz country, with xyz people, you go to xyz school, whatever.
The subconscious mind is more hidden. It's sort of like a blank canvas. It's influenced by the conscious mind. Whatever you get it to believe will show up in your reality. Logic is not its main principle, so nothing is impossible or absurd.
You do not need to convince the subconscious mind to manifest, but it can be helpful.
─────── ༺ ❦︎ ༻ ───────
─────── ༺ ❦︎ ༻ ───────
I hope I could be of help! Much love.
"Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions." - Albert Einstein.

Riz has counted four casseroles this week alone. Five, if one goes by the method of cooking, but Yelen's scary when she's crossed, and calling her burek by its proper name is important to her, so Riz does her the courtesy and doesn't include it in his mental tally.
He holds the tupperware over his head to keep it out if the way as he takes careful steps over the piles of notes in his path. The dockman case just closed, relevant documentations handed over to relevant personnels, evidences dealt with as needed; all he has lying around now is just record of the process and traces of himself thinking through it. Unsurprisingly they still haven't invented a surface more convenient for people under five feet who like to pace to put pieces of paper on than the ground.
Actual records go into the case folder with the other documents. Anything else with at least one side still blank is going to the school kids in the block - they chew through an astounding amount of paper just learning arithmetic. The rest is for the recycling basket.
Later. It's his mandated lunch break right now.
Riz sits down in front of the corner file cabinet. In an office often overrun with papers and strings and sometimes even thumbtacks, he's never really managed to clutter up this exact square of surface like every other ones. Ever since the bottom drawer rattled for no discernible reason a day long past, his eyes have always just kinda decided to slide across the space without acknowledging it.
It's years out, now. Riz doesn't know why he thought it such a big deal anymore, back then. He wasn't scared, he doesn't think. Not anymore. Maybe just uncomfortable with the idea that certain things persist despite all efforts to change.
He opens the tupperware. Dame Carabelle's experiment greets him with enough spice in the aroma alone to knock out a small mammal. When he chopped the vegetables for this casserole he couldn't really imagine the eventual heft of it, evident even through just these few ladles' worth, maybe weighing heavier for being still warm. His folk eat more through the smell and the textures and the aftertastes than the taste itself. His folk's meal is really the cooking rather than the eating. The eating is the meal's end.
"Hey," he tells the file cabinet's bottom drawer. "Um."
It's the anniversary. Riz doesn't know the exact date of his dad's death; nobody currently alive does. He and Mom both use the date of the funeral, though as he moved out to Bastion and then got more directly involved with Interplanar he hasn't really been going to Dad's grave as much. Doesn't seem like very efficient use of his time, catching a train or borrowing a car or spending a whole spell slot on going somewhere he knows Dad isn't at. They're sorta coworkers now. They talk on and off every other week between missions. When he goes now, it's just to clean up the place, keeping the landmark tidy and respectable.
Without that work to mark the date he doesn't really know what it serves anymore. But he still remembers it. Still takes note, absently or not, when it comes around.
There's not really a good way to tell the drawer that. Riz looks for another way to start the... conversation, hopefully. The question at play, he'd guess, is why he's doing this. He's been pretty content ignoring all the rattlings and the knocks from inside and the times it sits slightly ajar without him ever opening it himself; hell, he still uses the three drawers on top of it. Space is fucking precious in Bastion.
Precious enough to finally fix this damn drawer so he gets his turn to use it? Riz asks himself. Is that what we're getting to? Then he dismisses the thought - he didn't manage to fix it the times he actually tried, let alone-- now. When he doesn't really care that much to.
That's probably a good place to start. "'s fine if you keep being in there, turns out," Riz says.
The lunch hours are quiet in the block, sleepy and bright with the brief window of sunlight that manages to break through roof overhangs and extended balconies and laundry lines and climbing vines. Riz's work isn't loud here (the loud parts happen away from his office, if everything goes right), but the fragment of early summer heat reflected in the steady warmth his meal still carries compels him to lower his voice even more. It makes the words feel intimate, in a way he's never been familiar with - if he says something he just says it. He doesn't whisper. If he gives his friends something, he gives it open-palm. He's found out, along the way, that people usually don't think of rituals and courtesies the way he does.
Small voice for a diminished monster. "You know why I think so?" Riz asks. "Because almost two decades ago you kidnapped me and almost killed me, and now you rattle a drawer in my office."
It doesn't sound as much like a taunt as Riz wanted it to; the drawer has made a lot of noises again this morning when he checked the calendar, and he was definitely annoyed at it. Now, though, facing it like this after cooking the whole morning with more grandparents and peers from the block than he can count on both hands to cater for a tenant union meeting, he thinks the annoyance has morphed. Changed shape.
It has the shades of something like pity. Riz is not prone to pity, and especially not at these kinda matters. It's slightly maddening that he coheres perfectly outside of this one spot. That he commands his spaces, except for a drawer.
He puts the tupperware onto the floor between himself and the cabinet. "I know we're aware it's the anniversary," he says at the drawer. "You do this every year. You make a ruckus every time I decide to go do my job instead of mooching off my friends' aircon, and every time I get an invitation to some stupid social thing I want to turn down, and every time one of the old people tries to introduce me to a child or a nibling, because being a bachelor over thirty is weird," he pinches the bridge of his nose. "I have three fucking jobs. I love doing my fucking jobs. I'm forcing funds into infrastructures. You're never leaving, are you."
The drawer vibrates lightly. It's a very, very mild acknowledgement, considering the history of reactions Riz has gotten from this thing. Riz thinks it's emanating joyous agreement, or satisfaction.
It only sharpens the pity. Riz doesn't like that, but it's how it is. That's, ultimately, the lesson he's been taught over and over and over again, just by existing as himself, turned every which way by space after space that don't see him eye-to-eye: it's not like he'd quit living over any of it. It's not like any of it can sand off these fundamental pieces of him.
He's outgrown a lot of things, he's found out. Again, and again, and again. A childhood home, a yearly trip, a monster.
"'s probably scary for you, huh?" He asks. "Because I left."
He thinks he hears joints creak that sound like you did. Probably the way a scorned lover would say it, in a movie or a yellowback. He has no more connection to the idea than he did as a kid. Less, because it doesn't even scare him.
"That's what it is, right? That it's the anniversary, and I'll never be like Dad." He raises a knee from the floor, pulls it back closer to him. Slings an arm over it. "You love to remind me. The thing is, Dad also left. He loved Mom and he loved me, and none of us wanted it to happen, but it still did. Because love does fuckall to make anyone stay on its own."
He's long past being bitter about it. It's just the facts. Once upon a time he looked into the future and the specter of his friends' happily-ever-after casted lightless, fathomless shadow over him. Love, marriage, that kind of devotion, to a fifteen-year-old with more solved cases than friends seemed so eternal. Final.
But you can only watch your friends build up apps' worth of jilted lovers for so long before getting over it.
"You know what I learned?" Riz tells the drawer. "Love doesn't make anyone stay. Project management does."
He stands up, and picks up the tupperware of Dame Carabelle's casserole, that he helped make, that he helped share with a block's worth of neighbors and members of a community he's at home with, and goes sit at his desk to eat. "Last chance to get any," he drops an offer over his shoulder as he walks away.
He doesn't eat all of his share in one go. What he's spared he leaves on the desk when going outside for a smoke break. Baron looks the exact same as when he saw them last, when he catches a glimpse; they haven't grown at all. They aren't there when he comes back inside, but the leftover has gone days-old cold, like someone's sucked the future out of it.

Sometimes I wonder why people are so quick to think autistic ppl are evil soul sucking demon aliens or whatever
Then I look at WH theories (clearly made by neurotypical teenagers) and it’s like. “OMG WALLY DARLING EVIL SATAN WORSHIPPER CONFIRMED” and the linked audio is just either obvious symptoms of autism or him panicking
Like I really find it hard to believe Clown would follow such a cliché ending to children’s mascot horror by making (mascot) be super dangerous evil evil bad guy 3000. Especially after the sheer amount of love and precision they put into all of it. I don’t think it would be satisfying if Wally was just Super Manipulator Murder & Posses Man

The chemistry and physics of communications
It is remarkable how bad many organisations are at something which is at the very heart of the human experience. We are all experts in communication, it is an activity which we live and breathe to such an extent that we’re mostly ‘doing’ it unconsciously. And yet, when it comes to our corporate life, there are very few times when the companies we work for, deliver clear, well written messages.…

Here’s some positivity for systems who struggle to communicate with other people!
Many systems may find communication with other people outside of their collective to be challenging, confusing, or distressing. Struggling to communicate effectively is not a moral failing, and systems who don’t communicate well are still deserving of support and celebration within system spaces! If you or your system has difficulties communicating with others outside of your system, this post is for you!
🗣 Shoutout to systems who have excellent and positive internal communication, but can’t communicate nearly as well with other people!
💬 Shoutout to systems whose struggles with communication are linked to autism, anxiety, or some other form of neurodiversity!
☎️ Shoutout to systems who don’t make friends our form close bonds or attachments outside of their system!
🗣 Shoutout to systems who can’t find the right words, stammer or stumble over their words, ramble, speak in fragments, or otherwise have trouble conveying their ideas when speaking to other people!
💬 Shoutout to headmates who find safety, comfort, and security in solitude, or in the company of the rest of their system!
☎️ Shoutout to systems with trauma histories that have largely impacted their abilities to communicate with others!
🗣 Shoutout to systems who could communicate with people outside their system, but who choose not to or don’t want to for any reason!
💬 Shoutout to systems who are too scared, nervous, or terrified to easily converse or socialize with other people!
☎️ Shoutout to those who have been called a loner, hermit, recluse, or lone wolf by others due to preferring the company of their own headmates over other people!
🗣 Shoutout to systems who wish it was easier to engage and communicate with others!
💬 Shoutout to systems whose difficulties communicating with other people cause them to regularly feel isolated, lonely, downtrodden, or depressed!
☎️ Shoutout to systems who find internal communication overwhelming or challenging, but still prefer it to communicating with other people!
🗣 Shoutout to systems who often leave their comfort zone to practice communicating with other people, even when it’s hard!
It’s okay to have difficulties communicating with others. Struggling to have proper conversations, maintain connections, or express yourself to other people is no indication of your worth as a headmate or a collective. You are still valued, cherished, and loved, even if your system finds internal communication less challenging than communicating with outside folks.
We hope that you can find peace, happiness, and self-acceptance in your future! Maybe better communication can come to you with time and practice, but even if it doesn’t know that there will always be a place for you here in the plural community just the way you are. We care about y’all and we’re wishing you the very best in all that you do! Thank you so much for reading, and have a lovely day!

forever hilarious to me that tennis is promoted as this prestigious highbrow big-brain sport when most tennis fans these days are like. yeah this is my favorite player. yeah i don't know why they're like that. yes they are stupid. no i will not choose somebody else.
#wta tennis#atp tennis#i feel like the era of...shall we say 'federer-esque' players is waning#which i think can in part be related to the loss of the one-handed-backhand#as the sport moves more toward a necessity for fitness and athleticism players do not put as much emphasis on 'art'#which imo is fine! i think the 'art' of tennis is too protected in some ways. which i maybe will expand on later.#but i think it's too much for the tags of a (mostly) silly post#but yeah you can hear a lot of commentators touch on it#i know nadal even said something abt it recently(ish)#but i think as tennis is gradually less associated with this abstract 'image' (e.g. the obsession with federer's 'grace' and 'class')#players are coming in thinking 'this is a physical battle and i am going to win' and very much leaning into the *competition*#which not to say that they're ignoring/denying the mental aspects at all because i actually do think many players are very strategic/aware#and in truth i think many tennis players ARE actually very smart#but i also think it's less apparent because more and more players are able to just hit the shit out of the ball and call it a day#which leaves you with the occasional shot/point/game/set/match etc where it seems like they don't know what the fuck they're doing#but you think about most sports which evolve in phases#it's very normal for certain player profiles to become more or less popular as the landscape of the sport changes#or as new techniques/strategies are developed#or as new communities/populations become interested!#extreme example but think of like. high jump's fosbury flop. that was one guy!#one guy who changed the entire fucking sport! so it makes perfect sense that tennis is continuing to evolve#given how many unique players have come and gone#and how much the sport is changing externally as well as internally#anyways. this got out of hand but i love sports and i love tennis and i love my brainless players.#this whole post was inspired by rewatching sabalenka v boulter and aryna completely missed an overhead by like five feet. lol#love her <3

If you're starting external communication with your system (communicating with them through external means, such as video, notes, a diary, etc), the most useful tip I think I can give to you is to say whatever comes to mind, and don't hold yourself/ves to some strict format.
Communication is not just about making up for any amnesia you may have between headmates. It's also a way to get to know your headmates better, to build up trust between you and provide a basis for healthy systemhood (whether you choose to keep things like that or pursue final fusion in the future). While a format can help for recording whatever information is most important, it doesn't leave a lot of room for any of that trust stuff I just mentioned. If you have a format that helps you, great! But don't be afraid to add some of your own notes or sentiments, or reach out to other headmates. Otherwise, how else are you meant to build a relationship with them? You are not secret agents who will never see each other again after this one mission; professional reports can only get you so far. Tell a joke! Remark on something you liked! Vent a bit! Say whatever comes to mind! At the end of the day, you can think of it like this – you are not just recording your actions, but your thoughts, too, and when you're trying to make of record of things you might forget, the latter is much easier to forget than the former.
This isn't meant as a critique of formats for recording memories or talking to headmates or whatever – those things work for a reason, and if they help you, you probably shouldn't drop them without good reason. But just remember that external communication is about more than formats for recording the daily goings-on in your life. It's about communication, and all that communication can bring.
