A young Christopher Lee guest stars as dastardly Larry Spence - a rising star in the world of journalism, turned blackmailer and then murderer - in The Vise: The Final Column (1.16, ABC, 1955); the episode wasn't seen in the UK until 1963, as part of ITV drama anthology Tension
#fave spotting#christopher lee#the vise#tension#1955#the final column#for more information on the complicated origins of The Vise (a US production entirely made in the UK) see my prev fave spotting post for#Jacqueline Hill's appearance on the series#Lee was hardly a newcomer when he made this ep; he'd been acting professionally since being demobbed a couple of years after ww2 and#was something of a stock player in british cinemas‚ usually in minor bit parts as caddish gentlemen or authority figures and military men#one of his first really significant roles would be later in '55 as a submarine commander in The Cockleshell Heroes#he was also making semi regular appearances on tv in small guest spots‚ albeit sometimes uncredited (as in ITV's The Adventures of the#Scarlet Pimpernel also around this time). a jobbing actor‚ basically‚ and not yet the cinematic icon he would begin (that journey starting#at the end of the decade and the beginning of his association with Hammer studios and horror immortality). he's very good here tho#host and narrator Ron Randell even describes him near the start of the ep as (something like) 'young‚ handsome‚ but sinister' which#may as well have been printed on business cards for the kind of work Lee would find himself doing for the next decade or so#yes he's a real rotter‚ a strangler of ladies and a blackmailer of tycoons‚ and in true Vise fashion he gets his just desserts and the mora#status quo is maintained (this is a very moral series and takes pains to inform us via Randell exactly what kind of punishment the villains#received after the events depicted)#Lee made two more Vise episodes but as Network (rip beloved) seemingly took a random approach to which episodes to include in their#first volume of the series (and obviously as it turned out only volume) i have no idea if either of those are on the set#one can hope! and i do bc it's lovely seeing him so young but with such a meaty role

What is p'aof pulls a bad buddy and morkday kiss within the 5th ep??? WHAT IF????
But also what if not? Because he has a tendency to not really focus on the kiss and only use it when it is of importance y'know? What do you think?
CONSIDERING THAT NEXT EPISODE WE'RE ALREADY GETTING THE CHANGING ROOM SCENE WHICH I THOUGHT WAS GONNA HAPPEN WAY FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT ANYMORE
im really not excluding anything at this point, but personally i've always thought that mork and day's first kiss would happen in songkhla, and even if the progress in their relationship is happening much faster than i originally expected, i still believe songkhla is when things between them are actually going to change. maybe it's because in my head i still have that scene from the mock trailer where mork asks day if he has now seen everything he wanted and day answers "one more picture" before going in for a kiss: i feel like p'aof may have readapted that moment, but that the essence of it is still gonna be in the show, so if i had to give a time frame i think their first kiss is gonna happen at the end of episode 9 (right before day completely loses his sight)
it's also because, like you said, p'aof isn't one to make his characters kiss without purpose: to him kisses are narrative tools that always need to happen for a reason. there's also a whole history of nature and 'out of town trips' being used to symbolize freedom and change and clarity that p'aof himself often uses in his shows and that would work as a perfect set up for mork and day's first kiss, so yeah, IM A MORKDAY FIRST KISS IN SONGKHLA TRUTHER
as long as it makes sense in morkday's journey and doesn't feel rushed, tho, i definitely wouldn't mind if it happened earlier!!!!! (i mean it might kill me for good because i wouldn't be psychologically emotionally spiritually mentally or physically ready for it, but i wouldn't mind sfjskgfjsg)

I always point out Bunk’d on the list of shows with a terrible finale (since S3 was supposed to be the last but it effectively did kill the quality of the show) but having watched the final episodes of Bunk’d that aired last night, I can now actually reaffirm that its ending is shit.
Because oh my god is it shit.
#Bunk’d#Jessie#disney channel#disney sitcom#Disney#lou hockhauser#Camp kikiwaka#I think I owe The Lion Guard and Jake and the Never Land Pirates an apology for their finales#Don’t get me wrong they’re still absolute garbage but I don’t think I felt as burnt out and empty with those finales as I did with this one#Lou gets a random-ass love interest in the last 2 episodes and they pull a soap-opera style fake-out break up#which is like#I have no reason to care this late into the game#but they also rehash the plotline of the characters possibly separating and Lou wondering if she should stay a camp director#As if we haven’t had that plotline used in the last 4 seasons (including the season that was SUPPOSED to be the end)#Again no reason to give a shit#Especially since the status quo remains with Lou staying at the camp#The Ross kids are barely acknowledged or mentioned despite the show originally centering around them#And rather emotional closure that wraps up the loose ends with the series-original characters that were written off the show#and got no closure#instead they pull a Descendants with a dance party ending that doesn’t even fully fade to black by the end#Like what the fuck#My expectations for the series were low because any chance at a ‘good ending’ were thrown out the window with every renewal this show got#But oh my god this finale actually lowered my already low expectations#For years I’ve affirmed that Bunk’d is the perfect example as to why shows should just stay dead after they’ve ended#because if they don’t they can just become a rotting shell of what they’ve used to be and lose any and all quality beyond salvation#which is exactly what happened#And by consequence I am only happy BECAUSE the show ended and not in HOW it ended#But yeah the Jessie franchise is dead and so is Bunk’d lol

Since Invader Zim debuted with The Nightmare Begins on March 30, 2001, we as a fandom celebrate Zim's birthday every March 30th
IF you also headcanon that The Nightmare Begins takes place on March 30th (since it doesn't have a specific day, month, or even season that it takes place), then that adds a couple of fun things:
The Great Assigning for Operation Impending Doom 2 took place on Zim's birthday (no wonder he was so entitled)
Zim and GIR both have the same birthday
Zim's mission and GIR could be seen as birthday gifts from The Tallest

just thought if they had aired never again before leonard betts, as written and intended, there is almost certainly a not-so-small proportion of people who would still conclude that scully's night with ed was about her illness bc There's A Tumor In Her Head And That Must Be Making Her Act Crazy; Ain't That Great Foreshadowing

audhdbgsdhehHOLY SHIT YESSSSSSS
OK, but I love that Essek might be appearing in the Mighty Nein series before he meets the Nein! It's not just me wanting More Essek (though I do) or wanting to see more of what was going on with his dealings with the Assembly (which I also do). I think this could be super fucking interesting from a narrative construction standpoint.
Because I cannot see how you can include Essek from early in the series and not make it clear to the audience that he's the Dynasty traitor loooong before the Nein find out. Essek having stolen the beacons will not be a surprise. It looks to me like the cast are swapping out surprise for a fuckton of suspense. (Suspense vs surprise was explained to me when I was studying narrative structure as 'surprise is when a bomb goes off that the audience didn't know was there. Suspense is when they see the bomb being placed and have to sit there begging the characters to realise it's there.' In this analogy, Essek is the bomb.)
When we watched C2, the question was is Essek the traitor? In the M9 show, the question for new watchers will be when will the Nein realise that Essek is the traitor? When Essek meets the Nein, the countdown starts ticking; people will know that he is a danger. He is manipulating them. He is going to hurt them. Will the Nein realise before it's too late? But then Essek starts really befriending them, showing more of his loneliness and vulnerability, and... I think the mood will shift. Oh, shit, he really cares about them, doesn't he? What will the Nein do if they find out? Do I even want them to find out? What if they reject him and it makes him worse? He can't keep this up much longer, this is unbearable, they're going to find out - OH FUCK THEY'RE FINDING OUT -
It's such a fascinating choice and I think it goes to show that adaptation is an art form in itself! The actual events in the world will be the same, or at least very similar, but a new format means you can show those events in a totally new way and create a completely different tone! Narrative structure is the fucking coolest! I'm so excited for this show!
