The absolute biggest thing I've learned as a trans guy: there is nothing more masculine and manly than not caring about looking or acting masculine or manly. Growing your masculinity or manhood takes time and care - you have no obligation to let the world water your garden when you can do that just fine (and you can, even if it doesn't feel like you can!)

In my experience a lot of the shit trans men get from within the queer community comes down to ignoring half of our identity in favor of the other half

Either were men and therefore are basically the same as cis men

Or were trans so they'll use gender neutral/ inclusive language while still reducing us to our sex assigned at birth

Turns out some of them weren't #which just makes the localization funnier #Like. Grain of salt because I don't speak Japanese and rely on machine translations and friends who speak the language #But the really sus “receiving end” line was originally just. “Haha it'd be nice to be the one getting escorted for once :)”#I'm sure it's not an entirely indulgent translation but. Phrasing!!!#then there's the infamous(?) “I seek to have a relationship with everyone here!” where in JP it's clearer that by “everyone”#Orion means “every woman” and not literally “everyone”#bc JP Elly says “In your case won't just any woman do?” while in EN she just calls him shameless LOL #there's a few more #like the scene where Orion says “You're the first man I've ever wanted to protect” and Euden says “damn bro I thought you weren't gay?”#and he responds calmly like “You really are slow when it comes to these matters! I was talking with a friend about the canon named women of Les Mis and decided to experiment to see who those are according to Les Mis fanworks.

Behold: your top ten women of Les Mis.

I have finally gotten to season 5 of warehouse 13, and they are pushing the "Pete and Myka are secretly in love" angle SO HARD and it is SO ANNOYING oh my god. Like, first of all HG broke up with the guy she started dating for his daughter and now she and Myka are definitely together so jot that down.

But even outside of that, I just absolutely don't see Pete/Myka? Pete & Myka, as lifelong platonic partners, sure. But Pete/Myka, romantically? They've made him too much of the annoying brother and her the long-suffering sister. It truly feels like it's just something they did because they knew it was their last season, they wanted to give everyone happy endings. They've done a good job setting up "Pete wants kids and a family," but they haven't presented any viable options for him to do that besides with Myka, so now it's gotta be her.

And the conversation with Mrs Frederic? Her suddenly asking Myka if she wants children??? Mrs Frederic would not do that!!! When it came up I legit thought it was meant to be a sign of something having gone with the time-traveling nonsense. But then they followed it up with the stupid "suddenly you just want family and kids" conversation with Ms Blonde Agent so apparently it was meant to be in earnest. Just bad, rushed writing all around, 0/10 no stars.

#idk I haven't finished the episode yet so maybe it all resolves better #but the “every woman inevitably wants children and to marry the annoying man she constantly has to take care of” trope is pissing me off #also they're cowards for not bringing back HG and giving her and Myka the ending they deserved #warehouse 13
