While doing reach for my owns OCs, I was surprised (while I shouldn't because if Sanada do something right it's definitely the symbolism of her characters) that Eddie is incredibly Thanatos coded.
â
Psychopompe of sort (carried the bodies to hell/eternal rest), guardian of dead (literally one of the meaning of Eddie's name: Guardian of Tombs) â
Poppy theme (its seeds are narcoleptic and help create morphine, related to Thanatos, Hypnos and Morpheus in myth. Other than the sleep like apparence of dead, it's also because ingesting too much of it can be deadly.) â
*Anime only* butterfly theme (in Ancient Greek, butterflies are a symbolism for the human soul - it's also why Psyché is given butterfly wings, as she becomes the goddess of Soul. Sometimes, Thanatos is also represented with butterflies)
Both the flower and the insect are also symbolism for the beauty yet the brevity of life. â
Give peaceful/unpainful deaths (Thanatos was originally just the Death, then as the myth goes on, the brutals deaths were given to his sisters, the Keres) â
Big Family (For Thanatos: A twin brother who had A TON of children including Morpheus + all the others Nyx's children, being his siblings. Mason family is smaller in comparaison (4 boys) but they had a zoo in their house soooo...)
â
Buttmonkey (Thanatos on paper is scary and inflexible, yet this dude manages to get caught in a bag by Sisyphus.)
(I mean.)
(And he also loses to Heracles for some reasons.)
(As is Eddie for the Angels who always ended up with the short stick).
Now I can see a more twisted vision of Thanatos/Hypnos with Albert/Eddie, so this will be more a theory/interpretation than a true comparaison but still.
Hypnos and Thanatos are twin brothers, and sometimes co-workers.
Hypnos, god of sleep, is represented with white wings and is beloved by humans and gods alike as they allow them to rest, to be at peace. This love is reciprocated.
Thanatos is represented with black wings. In opposition to his brother, he is hated and feared by humans and gods alike, but as Hypnos, the feeling is shared (though the fear is replaced by distaste).
Now, Eddie and Albert. They aren't twin brothers but I still feel there is some parallelism.
Albert is the "favorite" one, despite being the violent one. While saying he hates everything and everyone is probably exaggerated, he is in so much pain, frustration (and delusional), he projects on others, especially the weaks (and Eddie) and search to destroy them.
Meanwhile, Eddie is the "unfavorite" but also the kind one. The one who wants pets (and people) to be at peace. He feels that by 'owning' people (by killing them) he can make them 'happy' and connect with them that way (hence his interest in Ray).
All this to say that, somehow, Albert is like a Thanatos rejecting his role (as a gravedigger) and his family (becoming ironically more 'peaceful' than his so loving brother), while Eddie is a sort of Hypnos who had gone wrong by embracing his brother's (Thanatos) duty.
#hana talks#edward mason#angels of death#satsuriku no tenshi#eddie mason#thanks for reading my TED talk goodbye#of course I could have also mention the whole Eros/Thanatos with Eddie/Ray#but it's not really mythology. It's more interpretation of Freud's work#btw he never talks about Thanatos#only Eros as pulsion of life and creation in opposition to the pulsion of destruction who was unnamed#I think it's also worth mentioning that we have no idea if the twins had a good relationship or not#as far we know they work together to gather the dead and. that's it#Hypnos is married and had a ton of children as said above#Thanatos is probably uninterested by the question (except if you are into HADES game I guess)#maybe I'll come back to it cause it's getting late#also interesting fact: sometimes Thanatos is represented as a child

Tell me your thoughts on death.
Hmm, big question. I have a lot of thoughts on it, perhaps they're even conflicting. **This post is LONG and I'm probably gonna discuss topics people will find upsetting, so read on at your own risk. If you are not of sound mind, I do not recommend you continue to read this.
Firstly, death is (so far) inevitable. I'm not even sure what someone would do with themselves if immortality was a given. I'm already a chronic procrastinator -- I'm not sure how I would be if I were immortal. Ultimately I don't imagine I would achieve much (not that I'm achieving much as it is and I'm already mortal, which is pathetic). In a weird way, nauseatingly cliché as it is, perhaps death is what makes life so precious; how transitory it all is, is what gives life meaning. It may not offer us a purpose but you are forced to at least experience it for some unknown amount of time. Whether you enjoy it or endure it falls to the chaos of chance.
I believe there are different types of death. I think this is fairly well-understood in society by now. There is the death of the person -- the physical death; then the death of the legacy/legend -- when word about said passed person also stops. Obviously there are many historical figures who have not yet experienced full legacy death. Even if one living person speaks of one passed, then said "spirit" is not quite dead yet. Then there's the idea that death does not truly happen to the person whose life ends, but rather it happens to those who knew said person. I think it's foolish to believe that death does not happen to said person, however. There are so many ways to die that the notion one would not feel or notice one's own death is ridiculous. I can think of endless ways of how one may meet one's end where the figure is fully aware that their death is imminent -- not all death is peaceful and sound. Death is not always sweet and it is naive to assume so.
I want to believe in a good afterlife, but I am not sure if there is one. The idea of a worse realm existing than this world is one I also find hard to imagine -- the more I see here, the more there is a hellishness about it. I would like to think that if there is an afterlife or another realm we move to, that it is kind to all who enter and does not exclude anyone -- almost as if each person has their own personal "perfect" or tailored "kind" afterlife, given "kind" and "perfect" are often so subjective. But I think this is more wishful thinking than anything else, unfortunately.
How one meets death is something that fascinates me. Most people probably hope they have the healthy, natural and peaceful death, despite knowing there are exceptions. Then there are those who suffer terribly from depression and perhaps other disorders, who find existence so unbearable that death seems to be a provider of peace. But then there are the people who have been unfortunately diagnosed with a terminal illness or -- even more unusual and rare -- perfectly healthy people who simply decide they would rather leave on their own terms than let nature take its course. A prime example of this latter category is Jean-Luc Godard: he chose to leave on his own terms, though the reason conflicts between indeed being unwell and in fact being of sound health but simply tired of still living. People like to slap morals on a "choice" of death but I feel it is foolish to do so. Each circumstance is so individual, it is absolutely nobody else's business to say whether it is "right" or "wrong". I have my own thoughts regarding my death, morbid as it is to say, but we all eventually must contemplate our inevitable end after a certain point. I have been well-acquainted with death from a young age -- and so few of those were "kind" deaths, so thinking about death as a concept doesn't phase me much.
A comfort is that, for millennia, so many of our cultures across the world have had forms of funerals and other specific rituals to say goodbye to a departed loved one, or celebrate a loved one long after their departure. Some of my favourites are the Day of the Dead rituals in MĂ©xico and the rituals in Toraja, Indonesia, where what we call death is viewed completely differently. I think it's beautiful.
What gets me most is the idea of the death of the entire universe, or of all of space. Total annihilation terrifies me, or it did. This point will get into weird territory because I'm not a professional astrophysicist so am not fully informed, and I'm just expressing my own thoughts on it -- I'm not saying what I think is fact because I know it isn't absolute. The idea that one day, far, far into the future, absolutely nothing may exist horrifies me. But almost for my own sake, I'm not sure how convinced I am of this theory. If the Big Bang is how the universe as we know it today was created, that means there surely must have been something -- some form of energy -- that reacted to something else for such a sudden and violent bang to result. So we did not come from absolutely nothing. Which makes it hard for me to believe that after all the universe is eaten by black holes and the black holes eventually die, that there is absolutely nothing left. Maybe it is and that's simply the end of it all, but part of me feels there must be some unknown energy or substance that lingers in the otherwise void of nothingness, and perhaps eventually react with something else, maybe creating some other new system or epoch (or maybe not). Mind you I know the flaw here is that at the time of the Big Bang, everything that now exists was believed to be pent up tightly packed together in one very small point, and by the Dark Era, everything will be so spaced out that even reactions that occur may not be tightly packed close enough to create anything new afterwards.
I can handle the idea of Earth's eventual destruction (albeit not well, it still scares me though I know it should be far off in a future where I'm long gone), along with the rest of our solar system, and galaxies colliding to form new ones or being swallowed up, but total non-existence of anything in what we currently call our universe just saddens me. Really makes me think of that old Bible quote "For dust you are, and to dust you shall return."
#anyway i will shut up now!#long post#tw long post#tw death#asked and answered#schrodingersrevenge#this is very rambly lmfao it's late and i've been musing on this a lot in general lately#i don't even think these are all my thoughts on it but i knew i had to stop at some point lol#just realised i haven't even touched on my views of the theories regarding eros and thanatos

Ritual of Lilith
Gaze into the sigil below and repeat the mantra (mentally or aloud):
Marag Ama Lilith Rimog Samalo Naamah!
Face North and speak the words:
From the dark pits of the earth, I call you, Black Goddess! Lilith, arise and come forth!
Facing West:
From the Serpentâs Lair in the unholy waters, I call you, Queen of Blasphemy! Agrat, arise and come forth!
Facing South:
From the mountains and hills where the Sabbatic fires burn, I call you, Mother of Fornication! Mahalath, arise and come forth!
Facing East:
From the black skies of the night, I call you, Princess of Screeching! Naamah, arise and come forth!
Facing the altar:
The Gates are open wide and the children of Lilith are coming on the wings of Shadow!
Lil-ka-litu! Lilit Malkah haâShadim!
I invoke you, Goddess of the Moon! Mother of witches and queen of forbidden delights! Come forth from the desert caves of the Red Sea. Come to me, Mother of Fornication, Samaelâs consort! Ancient Goddess, who rides the darkening crescent across the midnight skies! Mother of Demons! Maiden and Harlot! Princess of Screeching, who flies through the night and screeches in the desert. Scarlet Whore, who rides upon the back of the Blind Dragon. Sinful Hag! Eros and Thanatos incarnate!
Marag! Ama! Lilith! Rimog! Samalo! Naamah!
Hear my calling! Come to my temple of flesh! Appear before me, Mother of Dark Wisdom! Reveal to me the secrets of your unholy communion! Awaken my senses! Break the shells and dissolve the worlds as you approach intoxicated by the elixir of the Blood-red Moon!
Marag! Ama! Lilith! Rimog! Samalo! Naamah!
You are passion, death and ecstasy.
Your mouth drips with fresh blood.
Your forked tongue drips with deathly venom.
Your eyes are as black as Death.
Your breath is the stench of carrion.
Your womb is the lair of the Serpent.
I call you, Mother of Harlots who holds the chalice with the Blood of the Moon!
I call you, Serpentâs Fire that burns the Veil of Illusion!
I call you, Alien Woman, who seduces and leads the righteous onto the path of fornication!
I call you, Queen of Sheba, consort of God!
I call you, Bride of the Devil, who rules the Kingdom of Eternal Shadows!
I call you, soul of every living creature!
I call you, End of All Flesh, the womb and the grave!
I call you, Lilith!
Marag! Ama! Lilith! Rimog! Samalo! Naamah!
In the name of the Dragon!
Ho Drakon Ho Megas!

Baking the thought still, but the thought of Rio as an embodiment of the cycle of Life and Death, more so the Eros and the Thanatos, passion, lust, destruction, end.
Basically we were introduced to her with her chemistry to Agatha. We saw how the Coven was attracted to her when they met her. They were all drawn to Death, intrigued.
She's both Eros and Thanatos, not as two opposing psychological terms for the human condition, but as a cycle, something that is part of nature.
I hardly think she's the villain of the story of course, so the climax will reveal the WHY she came to Agatha while she was still under the spell. There are many possibilities. Does Death need help from her, perhaps to find a Witch that is by all means dead, but she can't find?
Or did Agatha in a moment of internal despair, call for Rio, her Lover, for Death?
There's a whole other ting with that alone, Agatha having an intimate relationship with Death. Grief, Pain, Love, Need, all melded up together in a way she can't separate any of it at this point.

kanthony thoughts: wrestling with love and death
The bee is such a perfect symbol for the love story of S2 - it symbolizes the duality of life. It is a symbol of fertility: bees are associated with spring, the act of pollination, and sex (e.g. "the birds and the bees"). But here it is also a symbol of death and trauma. It is what killed Papa Bridgerton, took Violet's true love, stole a father from the kids, and what (in this patriarchy) forced an 18 year old boy to become the "father" of the family, trapping him emotionally in time at that period of loss which Anthony never processed.
Through this duality, the bee embodies the themes and core struggle Kate and Anthony are confronted with. It is both Eros, sexual love and reproduction, and Thanatos, a representation of death. Both are interwoven throughout our lives. And we all end up in death's country eventually, some sooner than others. People like Kate and Anthony, who've met the heartbreak of the world very young, often see death and loss everywhere - because it is everywhere, but so too is life.
There is another fertility symbol that is also a death symbol: the pregnant Violet in flashbacks. The great love she and Edmund shared has brought beautiful children into the world - but the act of creating life can kill a mother. Violet herself has suicidal thoughts about wishing the act of giving life had killed her. It is an inescapable part, even with the best modern medicine, of procreation for someone who gives birth. Bringing life is also risking death.
This is the truth that Anthony and Kate both know and fear and have shaped themselves around. They fear living because they've both suffered losses young and known, from a young age, that death is always there. Uncertainty and loss are woven throughout all joy and love. Their solution to this problem has been simple: they will choose to not participate in living.
They both make statements to this effect. Anthony to Violet, saying he will be not happy but "content" without love.
And Kate shares her similar plans for a miserable "contentment" without love:
Anthony will make himself the image not even of his vibrant and loving father, but of something worse: an old man before his time. No joy, no pleasure, no love. Just duty and a rigid focus exclusively on the mind over the heart. Violet tells him - your father allowed himself to love. The truth is Anthony cannot be like him like this.
Kate has a similar scene - she has made herself exiled from life by choosing to be a spinster. As she explains, she wants to be like Lady Danbury, but in the same way Anthony cannot be like Edmund without letting himself live, Lady Danbury tells her: you will *never* be like me if you go on like this. I had a life! I lived and now I enjoy my social games very much because I am satisfied that I have lived.
These two young people, they're not even thirty yet, and both of them have buried themselves alive. They've done it in a futile effort to escape the pain, the loss, that comes along with the joy of living. We open ourselves to it when we open our hearts. And keeping our hearts shut is not an escape from death, it's giving our lives up to it before we've even had our measure of joy.
In case we missed the point, Kate and Anthony's little sisters come in to drive it home: you think we respect you for the things you do, emptying your life of anything but duty, Daphne tells Anthony, knowing that he longs to be the respected and great figure their father was. We don't. We pity you. OUCH. Harsh but so so necessary - when someone has created a toxic and false narrative in their mind and they're giving all their energy to it, sacrificing everything to this... broken coping mechanism, sometimes a jolt is required. Daphne is letting him know that the thing he consoles himself with, the idea he is respected by his family for his dutiful sacrifice, is a lie.
He cannot be the man he wants to be if he won't let himself live, like Edmund did. Edmund spent every moment of the short time he got on earth living and loving deeply. And when he died, it broke so many hearts. But, as Violet tells Anthony later: I'd do it all over again, I'd suffer the pain again, just to have the time we got together. The love Edmund and I shared was worth all the pain.
And Edwina, for her part, is brave enough to see the truth. She finally realizes that Kate has inadvertently been living vicariously through her - trying to give her little sister her own dreams, not realizing the problem with that. Edwina is a grown woman and she still doesn't actually know what she truly wants her life to be. Again, this is such an OUCH moment. Kate never would have intentionally done such a thing to her beloved little sister. But she needs to hear that she has!
The kind of repression Kate and Anthony engaged in - it comes from a place that makes sense, they even mean it lovingly, but it doesn't work. As Daphne said earlier: these kind of feelings will find a way out. Kate accidentally imposed her own dreams on her sister and thwarted Edwina's growth and choices.
Both younger sibs are courageous enough to demand more, for themselves, and for the elder siblings they love - even though they can be overbearing. Even though, in this moment, both of them need their younger sibs to give them some "tough love" to shock them out of the nonsense they've fallen into and dragged their families along with them.
The parallels are so gorgeous. And the power of these two fearful people, who have buried themselves alive, choosing risk and joy and love finally? Embracing life and all its pain for the joy it brings? Soaringly romantic and such a beautiful affirmation of life.
I adore this romance!

Ω PJO MISCELLANEOUS DEMIGOD HEADCANONS: đ THANATOS: GOD OF DEATH, PERSONIFICATION OF PEACEFUL DEATH đŠ
A/N: Heeeeeey everyone! Here is {Wave 2.0.} of Miscellaneous Demigod Headcanons. Had the strength to write some more gods and their demigods for the Misc. Demigod Headcanons and I decided to start off with the most requested god and demigod with a bang! (No seriously, I've been getting so many requests to do Thanatos that I caved just so I could free my ask box). Hope you all enjoy it and thanks for reading! MISCELLANEOUS DEMIGOD H/CS MASTERLIST LINK: [TUMBLR] || [AO3]
Welcome to the impossible births club like the Athena kids. Thanatos is considered a virgin god. I think itâs not because of chastity or abstaining, but because Thanatos is the god and personification of Death itself; so his interaction with mortals always ends in their passing. Not to mention, being a lieutenant to Hades, heâs usually very busy. How you are born is up to theory but there are a few, limited, possible ways: a.) Just like Psyche and Eros where the former didnât know Eros looked like, you do have a mortal parent that Thanatos fell in love with, but Thanatos remained invisible mostly when his eyes fell upon your mortal parent, keeping most of his deathly potency away. However, the whisper of death clings to you and your mortal parent. A curse of death for life and love. b.) You did the whole rebirth thing where you died as a baby or child, and Thanatos took pity on you. He fed you ambrosia and his godly essence with you, before you were allowed to bring back to life when appealing to Hades and Persephone, who allowed you to go back to the world of the living; however, you are a servant and denizen of the Underworld. C.) you were conceived when Thanatos fell in love with a mortal and when they crossed into the Underworld, they were finally to be seen together. However, when Thanatos was chained and the Doors of Death were forced to be kept open, your âmortalâ parent left the underworld searching for your godly father to free him. However, your parent was delayed in reaching Thanatos because with life now flowing, you were allowed to form and thus, you were born into the world of the living.
Regardless, you are one of your kind and if ever there are other children of Thanatos, well youâre in the same boat or one of the following listed above.
You have also inherited something from your godly father more than just the normal appearances (i.e. his golden-honey eyes, darker than black hair, his teakwood colour skin), youâve also inherited his dark wings. Now before you get too excited, these wings do not grow along you in life. Your wings grow alongside you with death.
When you were first born into the world and drew your first breaths, you did not come with fledgling wings sprouting from your back. Your fledging wings sprouted from your back when you experienced death for the first time. Your wings started to sprout and show like tiny buds when you ignorantly crushed ants beneath your feet when you were a child and it was like being stabbed with a needle with your wings breaking through. You cry and the pain only gets worse as your wings grow and grow when you witness and are basked directly from (non-violent) death; whether you experienced death first hand or even hearing your classmateâs relative dying from cancer.
The pain and growth increases depending on the life; from the least to the death of bugs & insects to the worst & most growth with human life. Your wings were inherited from your godly father, the personification of Death. It is only natural that your wings will only grow and be a physical reminder of death itself. Whether your wings, feathered or like a butterfly, are a hue of blue, black, or purple can only be told with time and your journey in life alongside death. The weight of your parentage is constant on your shoulders and back.
Whether or not you know you are a child of Thanatos from the get-go, you are not exempt from being claimed when you reach Camp. It is a quiet claim but a deafening one. A downturned torch where its glow was dim. Smoke and mist rose around you, and the patch of grass that had once blooming flowers began to wilt and turn brown. If you havenât had your wings yet or your wings arenât as prominent, with his claim, your wings grow just slightly, the hue of your wing shining beautifully slightly yet eerie looking.
If you arrived at Camp Half Blood, and whether or not you decide to stay at Camp Half Blood, you are temporarily assigned to the Hypnos Cabin; as much as Thanatos was seen together with his brother Hypnos. While traditionally, you would be assigned to the Hermes cabin, unfortunately you slept like the dead; figuratively and literally which freaked a lot of people. Around the children of Hypnos you fit in a lot better and Clovis advocated your stay with the approval and insistence of his father.
Being the child of Death itself, allows you much of the powers of a child of Hades or something very similar. You can use necromancy, summoning skeletons to your aid in battle and whatnot, but you canât control death; just because you are the child of Death, doesnât mean you are exempt from the same laws and limitations as a child of Hades or any mortal at all. You may not be able to shadow-travel, but if you donât, you can turn yourself invisible much like your godly father. Itâs a skill that requires practice, just as much shadow-travel, and how long you can keep it up will depend on you.
Another power of being a child of Death, is you can see someoneâs life-essence. Think of it as an aura that radiates how much life they have and what they are. Very useful in telling who is a monster in disguise or seeing someone who is possessing someone who shouldnât be possessing. On the other hand, there is the inevitable sense of mortality when you see their aura and time dim.
You carry the linger of death you go and those who pass you by, will feel the cold shivering breeze around you. Only a few are not fazed by it, but you mustnât lose your control,
Being a child of Thanatos is a heavy burden but you must live because what is life without death?
âSo thatâs how I was bornâ you finished saying, telling to your present company of how you came to be and how you were a child of Thanatos. The eyes on you were nerve-wracking and your wings fluttered and jittered in unison with your emotions.Â
You winced and whispered âsorryâ when the tip of your wings almost grazed someone, not that used to having your wings out. It also didnât help when Thanatos claimed you, they also got bigger so there were things to get used to. You didnât like having your wings out in public, even around other demigods. Your wings were a constant reminder of your heritage and you wanted to keep it a secret, the truth of the wings where they appear when youâre around death, growing alongside with every life taken.Â
âThatâs a pretty loaded backstoryâ blurted out Frank finally and Hazel immediately elbowed him as he winced at his words and pain.
You could help let out a nervous laughter as you responded with,âIt sort of is, yeah. In all honesty, I didnât believe it myself until Hypnos told me in my sleep. Even then, I donât think Iâll ever wrap my mind around it completely. Not to mention, that there were other demigods like me and thereâs a camp of all things.â
âWell, donât worry about that! Weâll help you get settled in and help you if you have any questions!â said Hazel and you gave a sheepish smile. The daughter of Pluto had arrived with Frank when you all made landfall in Camp Halfblood, Nico expressly relieved that his sister was with him.Â
You met Nico first who looked at you and was out of his depth. It wasnât only after you absorbed the death of a monster, did Nico tell you that Hades had told him about your existence and told him to find you, and in accordance take you to Camp. Which camp he didnât specify but after some debate, it was better to take you to Camp Halfblood because your presence at Camp Jupiter wouldnât be taken too well.
âWellâŠI guess the first thing to do is get you settled inâ said Nico, rubbing the back of his neck. âWe talked it over with Chiron and Mr. D and they said instead of staying at the Hermes cabin, it was best for you to stay at Cabin 13 with me until we get confirmation from Thanatos about what kind of Cabin he wants.âÂ
âIt was safer for everyone if you stayed at the Hades cabin just in caseâ was left unsaid.
âIn all honesty, I really thought I wouldnât be allowed to stay here since wellâŠâ you gestured to yourself with a nervous gulp as Nico scoffed.Â
âIf they allow a son of Hades to stay, theyâll have to allow you. Besides, youâre a demigod like the rest of us so you have a place at Camp just like the rest of usâ said Nico.Â
âThatâs right! If anyone gives you any trouble, donât hesitate to let us know and weâll be there right with you!â agreed Hazel as Frank nodded.Â
You felt your chest warm up a bit as you all approached Cabin 13. Despite itâs dark exterior, you felt a certain pull to it as Nico and Hazel opened the door for you.Â
âOnce again, Welcome [first name, last name], child of Thanatos, servitor of the Underworld, to Cabin 13, the Hades Cabin.âÂ

I live for all these ships with Apollo like Apollo and Thanatos, Cupid, and even the most dumpsterfire ship of all time Copollo (I go feral over these two)
But one ship that stood out to me was Boreas and Apollo, and apparently the Boreads describe Apollo as "Beloved of our sire" And the fact that Koios is basically Boreas' boss makes this so much more better
So basically I'm asking for Boreas and Apollo headcanons đ
(And if you take fic reqs, I wouldn't mind a fic with these two)
Apollo is SOOOOOO Shippable lmao XD He has such a variety of lovers and that really allows us to be able to explore a variety of relationship!
Healthy or toxic, lmao XD Copollo is Top Tier imo
and on the topic of Boreas, I have one extra thing to add there because I personally headcanon that Lelantos, titan of air & moving unseen (and apollo's uncle), used to be the head of the wind gods but was stripped of his title by Zeus post-titan war because he sided with Kronos.
So therefore, both of Boreas's bosses are relatives of Apollo's lmao XD
HEADCANONS, EH?
ahem
Imo, Hyperborea was some sort of courting gift or something Boreas gave Apollo. Because here's the thing with Hyperborea:
It's the One Place Boreas does not blow his winds, hence its title of Eternal Spring.
Boreas's palace resides at the southern border of Hyperborea, with gryphons who live in BOTH places.
Three of Boreas's son are PRIESTS of Hyperborea, and serve Apollo when he's there.
Three of Boreas's daughters joined Artemis's hunt (Oupis features in my fic Shattered Minds, btw!)
Hyperborea is literally "over the north wind" in Greek.
I think we can all agree winter is the time Apollo and Boreas hook up lmao XD
Boreas ALSO, in some versions, is a suitor of Hyacinthus, but he clearly doesn't hold any ill-will about Hya & Apollo because let's be real, he would have picked Apollo too XD
So imagine this. Hyacinthus & Apollo making out. Then Apollo & Boreas making out. HECK HYACINTHUS & BOREAS MAKING OUT.
THIS MEME IS THEM
ALSO I RAISE YOU-
Zephyrus has a crush on Apollo :3 (It makes sense. also Apollo is widely associated with spring and Zephyrus is the SPRING wind, and likes pretty guys and Apollo is the prettiest so-)
I blabbered about that in the Discord with @xxzephyrbreezexx and our fellow Discord user whom I don't know if they have a blog here đ KNOW I AM POINTING VIOLENTLY IN YOUR DIRECTION
You are Zephyrus. You have a crush on Apollo. You also get a crush on his boyfriend.
AND THEN YOUR BROTHER FUCKS BOTH OF THEM
The Hyacinthus Debacle, as I have dubbed it, also created a bit of a rift between Boreas and Zephyrus, which is Sad because they are usually associated with each other in literature, art, ect :(
Family dinners are Awkward. Even more so when Boreas brings Apollo along to the dinners hosted at his place.
They became Especially Awkward when Helios and Selene were still around because then Boreas would have to deal with Helios's Dad Instincts kicking in and staring him down.
(Helios is Boreas's uncle btw!)
(I have a Boreas thing planned in my Helios fic eheheheh. It's funny, don't panic)
And whenever Apollo pops in the visit Eos about light-related things or Astraeus (Eos & Astraeus are the winds' parents) it Still Is Awkward because Zephyrus just. BOLTS out of the room.
He is simultaneously Gay For and Terrified of Apollo.
Also if Asteria tags along with Apollo (because she is shooting stars/night prophecy and Astraeus is dusk/stars) she gives Zephyrus The Death Stare.
He is equally terrified of her, minus the horny.
Cupid/Eros, eh?
...are you in the Discord by chance? Because the fellows I mentioned previously and I have also discussed thisđ
We get Boreas in my next fic, btw! :D No ApolloXBoreas, sadly, but I do have plans on incorporating them into a fic!
Perhaps my revolution fic, because I am getting Ideas concerning Boreas, Apollo, and Koios... >:3

i like this quote. The Implication that Thanatos/Letus and Eros/Cupid look alike is fascinating. Love and Death. More similarities than most care to think about. Both can be vicious, comforting, painful, a whole host of emotions. There's a beauty to both concepts: there's a majesty to death, in the way there's a grace to love. And considering how Cupid goes on to pretty much emotionally torture Nico later, I'd say Thanatos definitely gets better treatment in these books. Also, I just have to mention Hypnos. Hypnos is the missing third member of trifecta. Death is like Sleep, and it's also like Love.
"It's Cupid," Frank said. "A really buff Cupid," Percy agreed. "You compliment me," Thanatos said. His voice was as gorgeous as he was - deep and melodious. "I am frequently mistaken for the god of love. Death has more in common with love than you might imagine. But I am Death. I assure you."

I keep having thoughts about Scully's immortality, because it's always sort of brought up as an afterthought. It's just an observation from Bruckman here, or Mulder mentioning the doctors were astonished at her recovery rate, or Scully herself joking about it in s10, but... 2's a coincidence and 3's a pattern, and Carter is well.. Carter so....
What if Scully's immortality plays in with Mulder's reincarnation?
Mulder is cursed to reincarnate until he gets it right, and Scully is now able to be there until he does.
But more than that...
Mulder suggests that "death finds you when you look for its opposite".
And I don't think that is about life. Because the character that was cursed with immortality was cursed because he turned his face away from the sufferings of others, from a person who cared for him when he was in pain. He rejected her pain and her death, callously, heartlessly, and so death cursed him.
And the moment he wanted to save someone, Scully; the moment he cared enough to not wish death upon them, and looked straight at her as she was shot, wished for her to have his gift, not so he could die, but so she would survive, death transferred the curse to Scully.
Even in mythology (and I think we can assume that Carter knows his mythology by now), the opposite of death isn't life. It's love.
The opposite to Thanatos is Eros
So if Mulder has to get it right to lose his reincarnation curse, and Scully has to look for [love] to die, then their solution would be each other. What they would've been searching for always would've been each other. The truth would be their love for each other.
So maybe together they'd be able to clasp hands and cross that final boundary of reason, and I think that is beautiful in a way that is also deeply tragic.

Nico di Angelo isn't handsome or pretty, both things aren't just an understatement but also aren't enough to cover all the things that needs to be said to describe Nico's looks.
No, nico is not those things that recalls so much to Eros.
with a face pale as the marmol, lines sharp as obsidian, factions that seems to belong to a sepia photography instead of being alive in the contemporariety
he's beautiful.
beautiful like the death, just like Thanatos he's beautiful like an angel, out dated but perfect and remote, remote like a person tough, insted of a concept itself
Straight position, graceful but strong as stone and a voice that despite it's gentle tone comands respect and inky eyes that seems to be too old for such young man
He's more like a King who's mere presence made you feel inferior and that you should be more than grateful for just breathe the same air as him and you wish to serve him with your whole life from now on
He's his father son at the end of the day
but oh, those eyes, the same eyes so old and intimidating like if they were pots of shadows awaiting to swallow you, Are the same eyes so youthful soft and compresive when their color is the same as the chocolate with little rays of both olive bark and fruit, waiting to hug you in their warm, the same as his mother eyes
Yeah, is sure to say that Nico di Angelo is Beautiful.
