so, jojos and autism
Since it's 7 am and i have nothing else to do, I've decided to compile a list of Jojo characters that i think may be autistic. Because there are. A LOT.
Part 3
Jotaro: dude. He is literally THE most autistic anime character I've ever seen in my entire life. How he gets upset over stupid shit but remains calm during actually distressful situations. How he's mostly quiet and his expression is always the same. HOW HE THINKS EVERYONE ELSE KNOWS WHAT HE IS THINKING. and also that one clip with koichi where he is UNABLE to make small talk. Yeah
kakyoin: Self isolated masking child prodigy that memorizes random trivia he finds and uses it as a conversation starter. Literally feels like he is alone in the world and no one can understand him because no one tries and no one can, he also has an extremely internalized displeasure and apathy towards the world... This is mostly subtext but if you pay attention its there, i love my boy
Part 4
Kira: extreme anxiety over his nails, masks all the time, kind of infodumps, lack of empathy, obsession with his routines, etc. This one i am not so sure about, as he definetely has antisocial personality disorder and his obsessions with his routine and his nails could be interpreted as OCD. just some thoughts
rohan: OK HEAR ME OUT. No social awareness, has a very specific way of writing his manga, DOESNT CARE WHEN HIS HOUSE IS BURNING DOWN AND WANTS TO KNOW HOW JOSUKE CHEATED. Licks a fucking spider and doesnt see the problem!!!!!!! ik yall hate him (affectionately????) but i just had to say this.
Part 5
Giorno: usually monotonous voice, thinks outside of the box, always the same expression, socially distant. This one is mostly a gut feeling, but it could also be interpreted as him being a very traumatized kid.
Part 6
Weather Report: RAPTOR HANDS? ONLY WHISPERING TO PEOPLE HE TRUSTS IN FRONT OF PEOPLE HE DOESNT KNOW? TIPTOEING??? yeah
Anasui: (disclaimer: i hate jolysui i hate him as a person i hate how the manga did him i hope he just stays in his little queerplatonic relationship with weather while taking care (very horribly might i add) of emporio and never is exposed to the outside world. i love him. ughhhhh) lack of social cues, especially with jolyne, obsession with dismembering things, extreme emotional outbursts,,, the signs are there, but it could also be interpreted as ocd, ocpd and intermittent explosive personality disorder, respectly. whatever.
Pucci: uses prime numbers as stimming mechanism, kind of sees social interactions unconventionally, lack of empathy (but not as much as kira, also no clear malicious intent, so i dont think hes coded as a psychopath?). Again, could be interpreted as OCD.
not gonna add foo fighters because theyre literally plankton but they do have autistic traits
i havent finished part 7 and havent started part 8. as of writing this, part 9 currently just released its first chapter, and i dont see any autistic traits in any of the characters rn. might edit this in the future and add anyone that i might have missed or just discovered through reading the later parts. Thats all i wanted to say, thanks 4 reading

Furniture stealer clues since i havent seen a full compilation of them yet (with added insight in brackets):
Thief left a magma block at each victims house
Richas is acting weird and keeps changing whether he knows who did it (maybe protecting family??? Maybe directly involved???)
Only building at roiers castle (that ik of) stolen from was the therapists (why not go further??)*
A room that very few people can access in bads base is stolen from (these few very sus - includes richas)
Phil was not stolen from (fit and bad and missa can all access the base)
The pizzaria and therapists were most robbed (culprit didnt like them or smth???)
Ramons was not robbed (dont know full list of access, but bad definitely could)
The culprit was stealing from eggs, as they stole richas' chair
They knew about richas' gaming chair (dont think everyone did - further suggests richas aided culprit)
The thief didnt steal all the furniture from most bases, mainly tables and chairs
Tubbos was not robbed (culprit didnt know he had furniture or had no reason to rob him)
School was not robbed (culprit may not know it had furniture)
Maximus was not robbed iirc (idk why)
Vegetta was not robbed afaik (and i think foolish is the only person with access)
The upstairs of aypierres was not robbed (may not have been there before)
Addition from notes: chume labs got robbed but pac claimed they didn't (may further incriminate richas)
If u can think of anything else feel free to suggest an addition/correction.
*actually i know cellbit repaired his castle did they fix roiers area too?? (Idk i havent watched his pov)

im fairly new to batcomics so forgive me for this dumb ask/being uninformed, but do you ever have like. doubt in your reading for bruce as a character, or feel bleak about it (?) im aware you dont really like the reading of him as an abuser, but from what ive seen he most often does emotional neglect/distance and parentification of a child, which /are still/ abuse, and this happens very consistently. from what i can tell there is more evidence of him being a bad parent than otherwise. people often say hes incapable of having a child without messing them up beyond repair, and from what ive seen that rings true😭 i also know you said u dont like alot of his modern portrays, but these types of abuse also occur in older comics as well from what i can tell. i myself often have doubt (perhaps this is because i havent read everything yet and im still informing myself on his character)-that maybe this /is/ just his character, bc of HOW consistent the pattern is. idk if im really asking a specific question. im more so wondering what your thoughts are, like on parentificafion of his kids and emotional neglect/distance, would this be different if DC portrayed him more empathetically/based on your reading, and/or is he just fundamentally unable to parent someone without abusing them like some ppl say. i understand i may have just opened a whole can of worms lol but im so curious
you are totally fine! canon is quite overwhelming in both volume and scope, and conversations about bruce being an abuser definitely dominate at present (not wrongfully btw), so i don't blame people for ascribing to them early on. i will say at least from what i have read (and i will admit here that my pre-bronze age reading is not nearly as consistent as my post-bronze age reading so i have kept less track of specific writers and runs there) that i think the aspects that largely define present interpretations of bruce as an abuser tend to take from canon post-crisis onward. so that's probably why in a sense it looks like bruce has "always" been an abuser, bc realistically speaking if you're a new dc reader it makes most sense to start with the aftermath of the crisis and go from there. most conversations about "canon" tend to be about post-crisis canon (ie what has taken place on new earth/prime earth) and usually when you're looking up batman reading lists they will start with year one rather than with anything in pre-crisis. the crisis was nearly forty years ago after all! it covers a lot of territory and unless you're a really dedicated comic reader with a lot of time on your hands i don't think most people have the time or energy to go further back (to no fault of their own obv)
all that being said. pre-crisis canon is obv not monolithic in nature and there are definitely blogs out there who have dedicated themselves to compiling individual issues or moments they would personally interpret as evocative of abusive behaviors on bruce's behalf. i don't think that's inherently wrong to do per se and to each their own reading but my primary divide with that practice is that it's often performed within a vacuum. to me the most important thing when it comes to being a comics reader (or any kind of reader really) is taking into account real life context and genre conventions. how do the politics or culture of the time shape the way a given narrative is written and with what tone it's written? all of that is crucial to incorporate into an analysis. i'm going to use a pretty famous example of why. world's finest comics #153 (1965) is the origin of a pretty famous panel you may be familiar with:
on its face this looks pretty bad (and it'll actually factor into when i discuss parentification later) but contextually this issue imagined an alternate reality wherein superman was responsible for the death of bruce's parents and subsequently became the face of bruce's relentless revenge and pursuit of criminal activity. obv that's not a bruce who actually exists in reality and this was merely written for the sake of exaggeration and entertainment but it can also give rise to some interesting questions about what the writer here was specifically trying to satirize and why. primarily it's obv trying to poke some fun at the idea of bruce's crusade to begin with (which i am sure most people would agree was quite cartoonish in the early decades of dc despite the more layered portrayal and analysis it was afforded in later decades). but what's also pertinent here is the sort of "natural" exaggeration of bruce's dynamic with dick. in even as far back as the original bob kane comics, bruce and dick had a dynamic where dick was comedically portrayed as the more morally responsible one of the two. it wasn't much reason for concern back then bc the stakes weren't nearly as high and dick's tendency to question some of bruce's decisions (eg his tendency to always let selina go or to allow some villains to die horrifically) was almost always played off with a laugh. but the foundation was still there and you can recognize it in these panels despite that foundation obv being taken to an extreme. all of which is to say: the portrayal of bruce as an abuser largely depends on what a writer is willing to exaggerate, and why, and how. this issue was obv a one-off with no relevance to actual canon but it was nonetheless a peek into what that dynamic between bruce and dick could look like given a writer willing to pursue a darker tone and to explore the potential extremes of what was on its face merely a gag
the novelty of cape comics is that they are a place to explore anything and everything. extremes are possible bc no writer/artist and no editorial staff are ever on a book forever. what creatives want to explore with what they're given can hugely vary esp if a particular editorial staff is liberal enough to allow that exploration. and i think it's fair to say that a lot of writers are interested by the idea of that what if the above issue explored. not out of malice per se but certainly out of a growing curiosity as to how far disbelief with respect to the internal reality of cape comics can actually be suspended. the big question for batman in the 80s was whether having a kid sidekick constituted child abuse. this was primarily explored via the starlin run that ended in a death in the family. and obv following that we got the triple whammie of year three, a lonely place of dying, and knightfall. these arcs to me were what really cemented the foray into parentification in batman comics. the fledgling idea of it had always existed in a sense. dick was the more morally upright character of the two known for chiding some of bruce's decisions. he was the leader of the original teen titans, who historically demanded more respect and support of their mentors (i do not think it all inconsequential that dick and roy were developed so closely). and increasingly as we moved from the bronze age into the modern age we saw a dick who simultaneously desired to be independent of bruce and to be recognized by him. so the components to take that fledgling idea to its natural extreme were all there. editorial merely had to create the right circumstances to mesh those components together, and those circumstances were the buildup to and execution of the death of jason todd
i really do not think it can be underestimated in any sense what an enormous impact that event has had on the entire bat mythos at large. beyond utterly shattering the readers' suspension of disbelief wrt sidekicks' place in cape comics what a death in the family did was create an unavoidable void. this was not an event that could merely be skimmed over and moved on from. the aftermath and the consequences had to be dissected to their fullest extent otherwise batman editorial risked falling into the exact same problem the crisis was written to avoid: circular and aimless continuity. everything had to have concrete, forward moving direction and the consequences had to matter long term for there to be meaningful character development. so when you created the circumstances for a child dying bc batman had him gallivanting around as a masked vigilante, he had to retreat into his shell and utterly fall apart from the guilt of it all while everyone else fought like hell to keep him standing. it was pretty riveting and compelling. knightfall is probably one of my favorite arcs ever despite how utterly boring it is bc the introspection into bruce and his breakdown following jason's death was superb. but the circumstances it created for everyone else in bruce's vicinity to act like his emotional crutch while he took the next decade to recover obv had significant long-lasting consequences. dick had to be relegated to acting as the go-to family man rather than ever again pursuing his own dreams as he had in the 80s and early 90s. when jason came back he had to deal with all of bruce's grief and guilt being projected onto him while his own concerns went unheard. tim had to spend his teenage years deluding himself into believing he was the only one who could hold gotham together while bruce was falling apart. cass had to expend an enormous effort trying to prove herself to bruce bc all of the built up circumstances from the last decade drove him to insane paranoia about having sidekicks at all. and damian had to deal with whatever bruce had become by the time all of that was over
all of this to say: do i think bruce was always meant to become an abuser? not really. but did editorial avail themselves of and relentlessly pursue narrative circumstances that allowed that path to be realistically taken? absolutely. it's ultimately a debate of whether or not you agree they should have taken that direction long term. and i know it may look like i would probably be a hard no on that but personally i find myself more in the middle between these two imaginary camps. bc i'm not unsatisfied with what knightfall explored. i found it hugely interesting to explore the natural conclusion of bruce taking all burdens upon his shoulders and making himself highly vulnerable to collapse bc he refused to open up to anyone out of a fear of burdening them in turn. but knightfall was also followed by contagion and legacy and no man's land and murderer and fugitive. it was bruce taking one hit after another until he was utterly ripped to the core and had to start over from scratch and ig that's what i fundamentally disagree with. i don't think they needed to have gone any further than where knightfall took him and to me the end of knightfall should have signaled that bruce was ready to turn a new leaf where he could healthily balance his emotional commitments without letting them be guided by fear. publishing comics takes a long time so i think people often forget that despite there being a decade worth of comics between the events i immediately listed above what actually transpired in real time in the pages was two years or less. if we want to go all of the way back to a death in the family and account for that as well it becomes four years. four years isn't at all a long time nor is it unsalvageable. but by the time knightfall was over i truly think editorial was so obsessed with its own ideas on exploring bruce's collapse that it failed to see little else in the way of that. everything became about how people responded to him rather than about how bruce responded to the world. ironically by being the main character of his books he became the maker of his own demise. bc everything and everyone had to relate to him and his problems first before they could ever have any of their own. that is why keeping him in a perpetual state of emotional collapse has been so profitable. it is the easiest way to tell a story without ever having to make an effort on anyone else in it
note: one clarification i forgot to make earlier is that everything i wrote above is specifically with respect to bruce’s emotional abuse. i personally think there is zero justification for bruce’s physical abuse and that it can’t actually be extrapolated from anything about him as a character at the core, so whenever writers resort to it in the pages i dismiss it completely
#outbox#i know this meanders a lot but i hope it answers your question somewhat 😭#ironically i feel like my views have changed a lot since i first started reading comics and like even in the middle of writing this#it gave me a lot to think about and the concessions i'm willing to make. so thank you for stimulating the brain worms!

Anyone else remember those Bacontale dubs? I think they were deleted years ago since I've only been able to find them in compilations but they were iconic
Also I'm surprised abt your experience with the misgendering of Frisk and Chara bcs for me it was the opposite? Chara was typically a girl and Frisk was a 50/50 from what I saw
I also remember the sans fangirls being very weird and watching them from afar
Another memory I have is this one short comic dub that had. Papyrus goin "NYEH!" and a small cat going "Nyah!" and then bonetrousle played really loudly. My brother and I thought that was the funniest shit ever
There's also a specific person who's a part of my Undertale nostalgia but I'm friends with her now so naming her feels weird lol
OH YEA ALSO REMEMBER when everyone who made fancomics and shit was so desperate to kill Flowey and replace him with Asriel??? That was so fucking weirdddd why did they do that
ummm thats all the things that I havent seen listed that I remember for now
~The bigender Charlie anon
I vaguely remember the Bacontale comic dubs
I’m surprised by how many people had the exact opposite experience as me with the misgendering, it seemed like everywhere i looked Frisk was a girl and Chara was a boy lol
I watched so many sans fangirls lol, mainly the ones like Scootaloo loves sans Sashley and Casual Susan. I did watch a ton of cringe comps for the ones people deemed “too cringe” to treat with respect.
Don’t think I know that comic dub but it sound really cute
I actually don’t remember that trend with killing Flowey and replacing him with Asriel, I do remember comics and animations of Chara and Asriel before they died being popular tho

5, 9, 32?
5. Favourite Sidekick?
ERMMMMMMM….. Carpet
9. Favourite Walt Disney Animated Pictures movie?
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I literally can recite this movie verbatim I’m not even kidding. Music cues included. (tho bear in mind i probably can cuz my earliest memories are sharing a room with my younger sister for almost a decade, and we had access to the VCR. If our tv was an ipad or something and the vcr was youtube, this was her baby shark and i was at it’s mercy.)
No shade though, I genuinely have an affection for this movie, It’s just really solid. Sometimes I need that simplicity man 😩
32. Name a Disney movie you haven't seen and tell us why
I haven’t seen… A handful, I think? Honestly i can probably list them. I haven’t seen Make Mine Music, Fun and Fancy Free, Melody Time, The Black Cauldron, Dinosaur, Home on the Range, and Ralph Breaks the Internet. As for why?? Mostly just happenstance (three of these are just mostly short compilations because war era— tho i’ll probably see them eventually). I only just recently narrowed down this list ….. tho I havent seen that ralph internet movie cuz i don’t know if i can handle that level of cringe and IP boasting- and I’ve seen Space Jam 2. I saw the princess scenes in a comp anyway and that’s probably all i needed to see (and even then i egghhhhhhh…. I dunno man…. Thats a rabbit hole in itself too. Something tells me that movie will just reaffirm my cynicisms towards the absolute state™️ of media and that company. But I honestly don’t feel like putting on my serious cap right now)

Heyy i saw your document compiling lots of text slang from ing/spa/pt/fr and first of all thats so cool!!! Thats awesome!! i know its for the qsmp and i havent seen much in regards to a linguistic tag in your blog (tho i havent looked much) but would you be interested in hearing about the etymology of my favourite text slang term in portuguese?
Its not in your list yet so i thought id share since basically everyone under 40 uses it but not only is it so casual that we barelly even think about it when using it but also it has one of the most dubiously funny origins ive ever heard and i think people would enjoy it greatly
i would absolutely love to hear about the etymology! most etymology i know is for english words and i am just beggining to learn spanish. i am interested in languages for what they mean culturally and symbolically.
i major in sociology n communications so i like to think about how languages affect how societies function n what not. i mostly speak english and my mother tongue is mandarin so ive always been bilingual.
share with me what you know! i love fun facts and trivia.
#asks#anon#tell me what u love about your language#theres so much complexities in each language that sometimes only when you know it for years then u can understand

@the-blue-fairie
I highly reccomend giving Hunchback a watch.Laughton was an amazing actor but his Quasimodo is the performance where I feel he is giving his very soul
How Green was My Valley is also worth a rewatch .McDowall is such a cool actor for me cause he was a sucessful kid actor in a realm not kind to kids ....And kept on evolving and perfecting his craft and expanding his acting to both stage ,voice over ,film and television and do stuff like Cleopatra,Fright Night and Planet of the Apes ,where he has this great performance in his youth and its a stepping stone to other great roles
I will fully admit its not a great movie, and admittedly one of my probems is Brynner(Whose normally good but he and Bergman have like no chemistry ),but Bergman shines, and thats a sign of a great performer
Oh speaking of Hopper ,one performance I forgot cause It was super late when I compiled the list and I nearly was passing out,is Christopher Walken in True Romance .He is my example of the flipside to Hopper (Who actually is in the same scene with Walken ),how subtle menace can be also affective .There is some of that Walken weirdness, but hes very subtle most of the scene and terrifying and its an example of an actor getting one scene to make a great performance
Wilder might be my favorite comedic actor ever and that film is him at his peak, glad you agree its a good example
I had to put Hunter on that performance is sooooooooooooo unique
Am sad to say I havent seen any of your performances, though Posession is on my Halloween shortlist .Fanny and Alexander intimidates me but its on my list too
@themousefromfantasyland @ariel-seagull-wings @piterelizabethdevries
(Some of) The Greatest Performances I Have Ever Seen
Since @thealmightyemprex tagged me in that "share a piece of acting that blew you away" post and it got me thinking about the best performances I have ever seen. I've now compiled this list and I wanted to share it. @ariel-seagull-wings @themousefromfantasyland @piterelizabethdevries @courtneysmovieblog @vulpinesaint
Linda Manz in Out of the Blue
An open wound of a performance that, even after a second viewing, is difficult to discuss because it is so raw in its portrayal of the effects of trauma and its devastating, empathetic hopelessness.
Isabelle Adjani in Possession
Adjani is hypnotic here. You will not be able to rip your eyes away. Every moment she is onscreen, she locks you in place and you cannot help but watch in awe.
Sheryl Lee in Fire Walk with Me
If Roger Ebert were still alive, I would hunt him down for his dismissal of this film. If the original series is all about the audience realizing that Leland is actually BOB, this film is all about Laura realizing that BOB has always been Leland. Sheryl Lee is phenomenal.
Rebecca Smart in Celia
Possibly the greatest performance from a child actor I have ever seen, and emotionally devastating. One of the few films to truly understand childhood and the trauma of existing as a child in a world that treats you as less than.
If any film gets childhood, this one does. Please, please see this film.
Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves
Lars von Trier can go fuck himself, but I still connect deeply to Watson's performance here. Nakedly vulnerable, sensitive, and heartbreaking. And a better Passion of the Christ than Mel Gibson's fucking Passion of the Christ movie.
Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc
Speaking of better Passion narratives in film, Falconetti's face is etched into my soul, detailed in extreme close-up that captures every glint of tears in her eyes.
Ewa Froling in Fanny and Alexander
Emilie screaming in the night over Oskar's bier has haunted me for years, and yet it is only one moment in this richly multifaceted performance. Her composure and presentment over Christmas. The confusion, shock, and horror when Oskar first collapses. The intensity of sober grief as he is dying, followed by those screams that hollow out your soul. The relatability of looking for something stable after deep grief and thinking you've found it, only to realize you have been manipulated and fighting back. The cold, ruthless defiance of a woman breaking free of abuse. The... all of it.
Emilie is done dirty in the theatrical cut. If you can see the Television Version, I implore you to watch it.
Gunn Wållgren in Fanny and Alexander
Liza, you may say, are you just going to list off every performance in Fanny and Alexander? I may not go that far, but the next few on this list will all be performances from that film. It is my favorite, after all, and I reserve the right to gush about it.
I love Ingrid Bergman, but I'm glad that Wållgren got the role. She brings an aching warmth to the role of a matriarch passing from mask to mask as she holds her family together.
Bertil Guve in Fanny and Alexander
Alexander will be haunted by phantoms long after he has grown. Another incredible performance from a child actor that I have connected with for many years now.
Jan Malmsjö in Fanny and Alexander
I love Max Von Sydow (the role of the bishop was originally written with him in mind) but he could not do what Malmsjö does here. There's an almost genial charm to him that Sydow could pull off, I guess, but it would be different... less disarming, less chilling. The kindness that does not extend to his eyes, that betrays the affectation of kindness as just that - affectation. The way his hand, extended to caress Fanny's cheek, curls into a fist when she turns from him. With just a hand gesture, without a glance at his face, we know so much.
Irene Papas in Iphigenia
Greatest final shot of all time. I'm pretty sure Agamemnon knows he's a dead man in this retelling even as he's setting foot on the ship.
Laura Dern in Inland Empire
I Do Not Know what I witnessed but I Do Know I would watch Laura Dern acting in this for another three hours, and that is a testament to an arresting performance.

Hey Clam ! every since you started posting more about dc ive wanted to get into it but i dont know where to start, do you have an tips
well the advice ive heard everyone say is just to pick up a comic and just start reading, which is honestly pretty much what i did. there’s a lot of different continuities and writers and characterizations, and thouuuusssands of comics so your approach to reading em shouldn’t really be “im going to read every single comic ever” bc that would be a very tedious feat.
i’d suggest picking a character you like and looking up their reading guide! sometimes people on tumblr compile them or you can find sites that are dedicated to it, but they list out comics to read.
i also sometimes just want to read single issues so ill google things like “when did tim meet dick” and then it’ll tell me what to read 😗
it ends up with me falling down a rabbit hole bc ill look up a character’s guide, start reading, meet another character in it i like and then look at their history and start reading their comics and then i find anotherrr group i want to read about lol
there’s also not just comics! there’s a bunch of shows and movies too. they’re separate entities just as some comics are pretty divorced from each other, but some of dc shows i like are Teen Titans (2003), Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Harley Quinn, Young Justice (but i only watched the first one and a half seasons) annnnd i havent seen this one in years so i literally don’t remember anything about it but people say Batman the animated series is good :) and people dont talk about this one much but i have good memories with the Green Lantern animated series too.
Oh wait how could i forget. Lego Batman. the movie and the games. Lego Batman the movie slaps, you should give it a watch. and the games were a Gigantic part of my childhood 😭🙏 so i guess ive kinda had some sort of growing database for dc knowledge since i was a kid.
sorry this ended up just being me rambling about different things but i guess i’d say dc is a large collection of stories and media and characters so you can start anywhere you’re drawn to, and eventually you’ll find yourself learning how to navigate it all.
#lol sorry if this doesnt help at all#ive known dc stuff since i was a kid but only really started reading comics for the past 2 months#maybe 3 now#clam answers#dc#there are people that r experts here#comics talk

SPOILERS FOR THE ANIMATED SUBWAY SURFERS
i completely forgot they were making a series for this. i heard about it on tiktok years ago and promptly forgot about it. i mean i loved the game as a kid, but i expected the show to be kinda meh. its good, not like super great, but cause my expectations were so low it seems a lot better. anyway, once more, heres a list of random thoughts
-animation. its decent. it looks like 2d and then a lot of cgi. i wouldnt rlly be able to tell if they use 3d models but i dont think they do. the characters also look almost exactly like they do in the game. ofc its better quality but they already had natural proportions so there wasnt a big change needed
-plot. now im not saying its any gravity falls (10 year anniversary coming soon thats cool) but it has things sprinkled thruout the plot u dont notice until some other details revealed. like Frank, ofc i noticed the eye and him walking away, but him in the park and audience? i was like, holy sht, how did they do that?? not to mention the secret organization thats spying on them, their brought up sometimes. who knows, maybe their symbol is in the background somewhere and i didnt notice
-episode structure. idk if its only me, but it feels out of order. like the 1st episode they find the alien tech, but its in ep. 10 Yutani uses it to make a hoverboard, even tho Jake in ep. 2 slips up and says hoverboard instead of skateboard. also after they discover the tech, ep. 1 ends, but pics up ep. 10 where Jake runs away from Guard afterwards. this chase continues ep. 11 (which makes sense chronologically) but when he gets caught in the end, its ep. 2 where Guard takes him home. idk if this is intentional, but to me it seems like ep. 10+11 should be before ep. 2. the only reason i can think of them doing this is if they wanted a lot of the lore to be hidden until the last few episodes
-backstory. i havent played the game in years, and even then i only ever played, so ive no clue if theres lore already. but i do like the backstories given to the characters. Jake being the leader, spraypainter, having a single mom, and loving to eat. Fresh loving his shoes and boombox, and having a big family (i think i counted 6 others who lived with him) who all love music. Tricky who was a single child of rich parents, forced to do ballet, but wanting to street dance. Yutani whos super smart, isnt very good at skateboarding, and is adopted. even Frank, who doesnt have any backstory, seems rlly cool and his mystery makes him rlly interesting
-the website. why is it so cool? this is for a game from 2012, why is the website cool. it has no right. anyway it has a theme, like its the secret spy organizations files (the first thing u see if their symbol and the word archives in a cool font). u literally have a cool robotic women voice who reads info on all the characters. and the freaken locked thing at the bottom
-side notes: i was thinking Yutani's va sounded familiar, and its cause she also voices Amy from sonic boom. i only recognized it cause ive seen a few compilation from it on yt reccently. hell, i only watched this cause it was on my fyp. heres the yt vid i used for ep. 1-10, and heres the one for 11. the website has them all but idk if they all work
#sorry for the rant#again#why do i have so many feelings#subway surfers the animated series#i still cant believe theres a show#personal opinion

not to be very annoying, but do you happen to know any good books/resources about lgbt slang/identities in victorian/edwardian/etc england? (i mean, things such as lesbians calling each other "toms" and the like). don't worry if you don't know any, but i just figured i'd ask since this was kinda in your Area Of Interest so you might know some off the top of your head.
the not annoying at all but this is a more complex question than at first glance hahaha
TL;DR: there are many types of queer language / we have way more info about men, who have their own lexicon / this era is widely seen as the era in which the concept of identity is actually coming into play / books list at the end, scroll down til you reach bolded text if you don’t want my commentary.
so when you’re looking at mid 19th - interwar lgbt communities, whether in europe or the uk or the usa it doesn’t really matter bc this is quite universal, you’ve got at least three registers, for lack of an easier word:
how self-identified homosexual, inverted, queer, abnormal etc men (henceforth gay men) speak with each other
how self-identified “” women (henceforth lesbian women) speak with each other
interactions between these groups
these naturally intersect with other socioeconomic class factors.
back to england specifically:
despite legal considerations gay men have the most agency and ability to move around and therefore are more likely to interact with each other and form communities. so now you have additional registers:
upper middle / upper class
middle / lower middle / working class (more registers here but nobody asked me and i promise i will give you recs soon)
again, interactions between them
the latter category has limited applications; most of them have to do with prostitution or casual sex and tend to be about categorizing people in terms of what sex acts they participate in. (this is universally true of most forms of gay slang and/or their origins for obvious reasons) think locker room talk. OR, we’re looking at cross class relationships and how other people view members of cross class relationships. not to generalize bc there are other things than this but what is best documented here is the upper class pov of these interactions
for the first category there is much less slang & unique community language, when you look at letters and works of literature etc etc people are picking and choosing from both medical/psychiatric terminology, which is developing rapidly from the 1860s on, and like, classical works; you get a lot of alluding to things. artistic communities (bloomsbury group, natalie clifford barney’s harem in paris and what have you) meanwhile are sort of all over the map. but bc this isn’t Polite Society talk, most of the sources for this kind of language tend to be limited in scope. which is true for all subculture language really but like in this case, authors of the day who are writing what they know are we think giving a pretty accurate picture of what their actual communities were like... but it’s put through a filter for publication.
by the 20th century urban working class gay men in certain circles are using polari, a subcultural lexicon which came from mid/late 19th century theatre and music hall slang, which came from fairground cant, seafaring , labor slang, Yiddish, cockney, theatre slang, fishmarkets, French, Italian, underground crime rings literally i could go on and there’s lots of debate about this. it’s turn of the century when it comes to be used very widely within the gay community, and while its origins are in london it made it to other uk urban centres fairly quickly. this lasted well into the latter half of the 20th century and is the base for a lot of community slang today, which leads me to
lesbian women, who also used polari, albeit to a lesser extent. these were primarily lesbians who were also in the 3rd camp above - ones who are involved in the community and interacting w/ gay men regularly. (”straight women who work in theatre” is another category of woman polari speakers haha but performance slang went thru many changes and eventually things got p separate so you had fairground & theatre cant and gay subculture slang having similar roots but very distinct in usage)
for lesbian communities the same thing as w gay men applies for the upper classes just to a lesser degree due to the relative lack of a community experienced by women
but a very important point here is that, ESPECIALLY during the victorian period, less so moving into the 20th century, intimate relationships between women are viewed very, very differently than those between men - male relationships have hard and fast boundaries of what is and isnt acceptable, those of women do not.
the development of identity w/ sexuality for women i think in many ways had a lot more to do with women who expressed their gender differently than women who had intimate exclusive relationships w/ other women
anyway the point is there unfortunately is no like comprehensive text for All Queer Language at this point in time, nor for the development of sexual identity, and the nature of this field (linguistics + history + sociology about queer stuff) means that a lot of the good work is in academic articles which i do NOT know off the top of my head. :-( but here’s some stuff !!
LIST OF THE ACTUAL BOOKS SORRY ABOUT ALL THAT
ok so these are all nonfiction, mostly academic nonfiction, but i want to stress that contemporary literature is a REALLY good way to get a (often rose tinted but not always) look into subculture and there are many novels that play with and/or poke at the ongoing development of sexual identity, especially in edwardia, especially especially in the 1920s, so if youve got endless time to read on your hands it is absolutely worth poking around there.
i have a list in the works of 1920s literature that has lgbt stuff in it and i realise thats a bit late for you but even so!!
also: compilations of letters, memoirs, etc are like super super invaluable
anyway ive bolded the most important ones:
Kosofsky Sedgwick, Eve. Epistemology of the Closet. 1990. University of California Press. [required lgbt theory reading, literally the foundation for soooo much]
Marcus, Sharon. Between Women: Friendship, Desire, and Marriage in Victorian England. 2007. Princeton University Press.
Robb, Graham. Strangers: Homosexual Love in the Nineteenth Century. 2003. [this is like, functionally prerequisite reading for any gay male stuff for the 19th century & robb is an excellent popular historian who also has an actual academic background]
Rupp, Leila J. Sapphistries: A Global History of Love between Women. 2008. NYU Press.
Russett, Cynthia. Sexual Science: The Victorian Construction of Womanhood. 1989. Harvard University Press. [touches on things but is not About sexuality/identity]
these are both already on my downton abbey research list but they both discuss language thruout and identity very thoroughly:
Brady, Sean. Masculinity and Male Homosexuality in Britain, 1861-1913. 2005. Palgrave Macmillan.
David, Hugh. On Queer Street: A Social History of British Homosexuality 1895-1995. 1997. HarperCollins.
for polari, see basically everything paul baker’s done. the 2019 might be the most accessible but i havent read it yet:
Baker, Paul. Fantabulosa: A dictionary of Polari & gay slang. 2002. London: Continuum.
Baker, Paul. Polari: The Lost Language of Gay Men (Routledge Studies in Linguistics). 2002. London: Routledge.
Baker, Paul. Fantabulosa! The Story of Polari, Britain’s Secret Gay Language. 2019. London: Reaktion.
while it predates the era youre asking about, this book is good reading that leads up to the changes of the victorian era in sexual morality & how that affects identity and language:
Donoghue, Emma. Passions Between Women: British Lesbian Culture 1668–1801. 1995. HarperCollins.
also i hate to do this but like. foucault lol. obviously not focused on britain but very much focused on the development of identity and sexuality.
ive been working on this for like three straight hours im gonna go eat lunch now

Crystal Shopping 101
As a bitch whos bought way too many fucking crystals I have a lot of opinions on the CORRECT way to sell them in physical stores so let’s get started
The only correct way to sell crystals in physical stores is:
Provide small baskets/trays so I don’t have to carry them in my hand.
Have them in bowls (separated by type obviously) on a large flat surface tall enough so that I don’t have to constantly crouch forward
Stop putting them on the goddamn floor bitch my knees
Stopping putting goddamn price stickers on them I don’t want to scrape that shit off my crystals
Each tray should have like a hundred tiny pieces of square paper that have the following information:
Name of crystal
Spiritual meaning of crystal
Price (a price range if necessary)
This way, I take a paper with each crystal I plan to buy, and none of us have to ask um, what’s this? How much is this? I fucking hate that. It’s your store. It looks unprofessional and unprepared if you’re like uhhhh idk the name and price of the crystal ur buying hold on
Fucking itemize our receipts bitch If I’m gonna spend $100 I want a list of each type of crystal I bought
My favorite ways to purchase crystals (In order from greatest to least)
Gem shows: highest quality, best price, you find extremely rare pieces you can’t get elsewhere, you cut out the middle man, you get to leave with your crystals, knowledgable salespeople, havent personally witnessed them price gouging—they know the market value of what they’re selling.
Etsy. ThrowinStones is a personal favorite, I’ll look through my Etsy and Instagram and eventually compile a list of all my favorite Etsy stores. I avoid all the pains of physical shopping (carrying, stickers, not knowing item/price, bending over, etc). Help out a small business. You can compare quality and price, use reviews to know what you’re in for. It’s honestly touching when I find shops you can tell put their heart and soul into their work.
Physical crystal shops. Great atmosphere and experience, especially if you come across a crystal shop while traveling and you can associate it with that place. However I’ve seen a lot of physical store owners over price their crystals. I wouldn’t recommend this route if you’re getting started, you’ll end up paying more than is necessary. Wait till you become familiar with market value so you know if you’re getting ripped off or not. Follow crystal sellers on Instagram and it’ll happen quicker than you think.
All equally tied; great places, all very good:
Homegoods. I’ve seen them sell amethyst geodes, agate bookends, large quartz clusters. I’ve even got large chunks of calcite and flourite from them. I’ve gotten all of my largest pieces from them honestly for an average of around ~$15-~$20. Because they’re not in the crystal business they tend to sell them for less than youd see on the crystal market.
Consignment shops/antique stores/thrift stores. If you’re a collector, never turn down an opportunity to look in these stores, you’ll never know what you’ll find. And I can gurantee you they’re selling it for significantly less than it’s worth. It helps that half the time they can’t even name the type of crystal it is.
Gift shops for state/federal parks/reserves. Again, they’re not in the crystal game, so I’ve been able to get extremely high quality quartz for two dollars that the crystal market would have absolutely inflated the price. Highly recommend for beginners and people who travel for hiking. Don’t ever overpay for quartz it’s just not necessary.
Websites. I’ve came across websites that don’t have Etsys that I really like, though they tend to be more expensive. One good example is Uncommon Rocks. I’ll make a list later. Not a bad way to shop, just pricier than Etsy typically.
I’ve heard great things about:
Sedona, Arizona. Apparently crystal mother land. Never been, but it’s to crystal collectors as vegas is to gamblers.
Tucson Gem Show in Arizona. This is where the sellers go to get their supplies. Days long, miles long event. Hardcore. Not for amateur or novice. If people tell you they buy/go there know that they mean fuckin business.
Ways I would NEVER recommend shopping for crystals:
Instagram live sales. That’s some rich people shit and I fucking hate it. Let me sit here for hours while you go through hundred of items individually one by one waiting to get to the one I want just so I can lose out because my internet lagged. High quality but frankly over priced imo. I leave that shit for the bougie collectors.
Amazon. Never bought a crystal from there, never will. Etsy always beats it.
Wish. It’s tempting, I know, but just trust me. DONT.
Ebay. Eh, I’ve made purchases here for some carvings that are mass produced from China but it’s just not my favorite way to shop.
Someone remind me to reblog this with lists of my favorite Etsy/online sellers please
