hc that piper looks way too much like silena and that’s why drew is immediately defensive against her. because let’s not forget that drew is silena’s little sister who felt so irreperably betrayed. and she knows that silena was manipulated, but if drew casts silena as a villain then she doesn’t have to deal with the agony that is grieving. so when piper comes she undoes all of that. piper is a wrecking ball that shreds whatever progress drew thinks she’s made. and not only does she look just like silena but she has the audacity to act like her too. how else is drew supposed to react. she doesn’t know what to do when her dead sister shows up at her door.

I find it interesting that Frank and Leo are so similar, yet their similarities are what make them so diametrically opposed. They're both so insecure, and their insecurities lead them to lash out at each other. Leo is jealous of Frank, while Frank is jealous of Leo. It's fascinating to me. Leo teased Frank throughout the Mark of Athena, to cover up his own insecurities. But the teasing gets under Frank's skin, feeding his own insecurities. Neither of them hate each other, but it's just an interesting dynamic to read about. And it does help make both characters super relatable to me. Frank and Leo are some of the characters are really deeply relatable to be. So it is sometimes rough to see them lashing out at each other.

The Son of Neptune and a certain Taylor Swift song

If Disney ever makes an adaptation of The Heroes of Olympus, then for The Son of Neptune one song they have to use is Taylor Swift's I Forgot That You Existed. Just when Percy is trying to remember his past, maybe you can hear it faintly in the background or something. Like during the dream empathy link they can do "You sent me a clear message."

jason's 13 years at the super disciplined camp and several years as a leader of said camp mean it is very unlikely that he is any shade of feral, except for maybe a few minor idiosyncracies that all camp jupiter kids have because they all spent time at the wolf house, but since they all have these traits, they might be considered cultural rather than feral. however, annabeth chase, who was famously left alone until she was seven and was raised by an ancient greek horse man that used to live alone on a mountain, a barely sober god of mental illness, several other mythical beings based on animals, and approximately 37 different traumatized, exhausted, and desperate teenagers at an unregulated summer camp where she learned how to be scary by studying greek monsters, would definitely be somewhere near feral.

Frank and the scenes in Venice make me really uncomfortable. For one thing, the blessing of Mars makes him lose his weight and physical awkwardness. Frank changes, and the first thing Hazel says is a compliment. She says he looks better now. I can't stress this enough. Mars took his son, forcibly changed his body, and then acts like he should be thankful. And then Hazel seems to prefer Frank's new look, which I bet made Frank feel awful. The implications here…oh, they're awful. I don't think Rick Riordan actually meant anything bad when he wrote all this, but I still really don't like reading about it. So sitting through those chapters agitated me to the point where I had to put down my book and write all this.

Also, I hate Triptolemus. Turning Nico into a plant and refusing to cure Hazel… he's a massive jerk. I think I'm beginning to realize I hate most fictional characters associated with plants or plant life, but I can't help it! Why plants, when you have the far superior quality of robotics or marine life or something? I mean… I don't want to be a robotics engineer or a marine biologist, but characters associated with robotics and ocean life always appeal to me more than characters with ties to plant life.
