DP X DC PROMPT #3
tl/dr: Phantom and Captain Marvel are assigned to Young Justice; one of them because he is too young to join the league itself, and the other, to act as a mentor and leader. The JL thinks it’s one way around... but in reality it’s the other.
———————
So I read here about this idea that despite being one of the first heroes, Phantom looks incredibly young (curse immortality). So the Justice League doesn’t know that Phantom is an adult, and after finding out about him, they decide to assign him as a member of the Titans or Young Justice, since they believe he is too young to join the Justice League just yet.
Now, Danny thinks they’ve placed him there as a leader/mentor figure, and is touched that they’ve got so much trust in him to lead their kids and protogees. So he is going to do his damn best.
And here’s where I want to add on to the idea. The opposite happens to Captain Marvel.
The Justice League doesn’t know Cap is secretly Billy Batson, young child. They think he’s a great, adult, member they can trust, that happens to be very in-touch with modern lingo. So, having just assigned a new member of Young Justice/Titans (read, Danny Phantom), the JL thinks it’d be a great idea for them to have a mentor to lead them: and who better than Captain Marvel?
Billy thinks they know he’s secretly young and are reassigning him based on his age. (He thinks the thing about him being a mentor is the cover story) And he is actually thrilled he’ll be able to transform back and have some friends his age to talk to and confide in.
Cue only the members of Young Justice/Titans knowing the true ages of their members. Danny is an amazing leader, and Cap is a hilarious teammate.
———
One day, the JL is working with their group and are confused when it seems that Phantom is the one leading, Cap just following orders with everyone else.
When the JL asks and finds out the truth they are certifiably shocked. Batman just grunts and says “Why did you think I assigned them that way?”

You know I only like miscommunication when it's being used for comedic purposes like, for example 14 year old Billy Batson and 15 year old Danny Phantom accidentally get magically Married and both tell the other there identities because why not there stuck married till one of them stops exiting so they might as well make the best of it, and just don't tell anybody cause nobody asks ( nobody would know to ask anyway)
And it's been years since then that Captain Marvel (17 years old now) off hand says he has to go back for dinner with his husband (Danny, 18 years old, they're going on a date), and all of the Justice League league being surprised by this info, and of course they ask if they can meet his husband and Marvels like sure lemme ask him, and Danny agrees to go but only as Phantom (because secret identities) but also Phantom still looks like he's 14 back from when he died. So it's just weird to the Justice League and it's just so funny to me that they don't ask about the obvious age difference while also trying to subtly ask how they met! And then more confusion when Danny mentions stuff he did while he time traveled and then the justice league thinks he's thousands of years old but just looks like how he died (tho the person who asked that most definitely got the cold shoulder)(probably Batman)

With the title of Champion of Magic came a lot of work. Separating a couple of Cyclopes or dragons, participating in peace talks, reviewing petitions and participating in court hearings. And that's just to keep the peace in the magical community. Billy didn't expect this kind of work at all!
The heroes were used to Marvel sometimes disappearing for days or even weeks, to him bringing piles of papers to the Watchtower and burying himself in them until the night. Or when he mumbled incoherent nonsense about fairies and leprechauns.
Hal: Cap, are you free tonight? We were planning on going to a bar tonight.
Marvel: Sorry, but I can't go with you, I have court today.
Hal: Wow, what happened.
Marvel: A dragon is suing a knight for breaking into a palace and stealing his bride.
Hal: What?
Marvel: Bye.
Batman: Captain, you've been gone three weeks. What were you doing that took so long?
Marvel: Does a treaty between the elves and the dwarves to end a centuries-old feud count?
Batman: I want a report on that.
Marvel: Not now, sir, I need to review the lawsuits filed against the fairies.
Superman: Captain, you need to take a break.
Marvel: I'll rest when I'm dead. But even in death, I'll have to work to keep this world from falling into the legal hell of the wizarding world.
Superman: Marvel, I'm worried about you.
Marvel: And I'm worried about how that pack of werewolves managed to cross into vampire territory and stay alive.
Diana: Hermes? What are you doing here?
Hermes: Just helping the Champion, of course!
Marvel: Did you figure out what kind of people you need to find?
Hermes: Don't worry! I'll get them for you even from Hades! Now go get some rest, Champion!

Bruce figuring out Captain Marvel is a kid because of him saying some brainrot nonsense he’s heard his kids say is always fantastic, but I think it’d be even funnier if, as a result of the absolute fucking gremlins he calls family, he automatically contributes like a sleeper agent. Like
Captain Marvel: I only have 69¢
Batman, not looking up from his paperwork in the corner, in the most friendly and excited tone the League has ever heard from him: You know what that means! :D
And all of them turn to stare at him just in time to see him give his patented Disappointed Sigh™️, directed at himself for once, and look into the distance as if questioning every single decision that led to this moment. The League is in shock. The younger heroes didn’t think Batman knew what Vine was. Nightwing is laughing so hard he’s sobbing on the floor, because Dick knows damn well it was HIM who caused that

Yes, a world in which the Justice League and the Avengers live side by side is objectively so fucking cool, but it also provides the DC/Marvel execs the opportunity to do the funniest fucking thing ever:
Make Slade Wilson and Wade Wilson cousins.

Just funny to me how, for a comic character, Val Richards has actually aged more or less in real time. She was born in 2002 and is now in her teens. This is especially hilarious when compared to her brother, who was born in 1968 and didn't hit age seven until Val was born. Even after that, Franklin still ever barely aged. Despite the seven year age gap, the two of them are often depicted as only being a couple of years apart, and the gap seems to be getting shorter and shorter. The current run has them in the same year of high school when he should really be at college.

There's a betting pool in the League on who can seduce Captain Marvel. And there's a lot of money involved. Almost everyone is trying to flirt. They all think they can get the big guy into bed.
Billy is a little confused by the behavior of some of his colleagues. They all talk to him so strangely sometimes, wiggling their eyebrows. Is this normal among adults? Should he copy this style of communication and talk like them?
