King Paiman has shown up a couple times and I've gotten a bit interested in Him. I've previously been interested in Duke Barbatos, but otherwise in terms of deities that aren’t Infernals I take interest in Lord Hades, Lord Thanatos, Lord Poseidon, Lord Set, and Lord Anubis. I'm not sure if I would work with them or simply worship them, it would really just depend on where I'm at

okay finished outsiders #3 and it's so interesting that the same version of duke thomas that lanzing & kelly wrote years ago, who was the personification of hope when all is lost. he's become cynical. that duke even moreso than canon duke truly believed in the ideals of the bat and clung to that until he was the only surviving thing left. and now he's disillusioned and is trying to attack a converging space for a multiverse of batmen. because he's seen what that becomes. he's seen the end of the multiverse. and his uncontrollable visions of the past, where they used to give him the strength to carry on, he just sees the same origin point for every single batman. and imo this highlights that duke is never meant to be alone. when there's people he cares about, people to save, a mission to push himself towards, he's the same as he's ever been, but when he's alone, and everything is dead, and he keeps thinking over and over about what he could have done... he takes on the responsibility of saving every universe from his universe's fate. by killing every batman. by killing the idea.

Rules MC Has To Follow in HoL

Lucifer’s Rules for MC in the House of Lamentation.

1. MC is not allowed to play sexy songs that are audible to the rest of the house.

2. Following rule 1, they’re also not allowed to sing and dance along to sexy songs. Rules one and two were originally lower, but after the ‘CupcakKe: CPR’ incident where several walls were destroyed and MC could not walk for two days they were moved to be the top most rules.

3. MC is not allowed to do the other brothers’ chores. Cooking is a slight exception as if they want to cook on a night not theirs, that’s their choice. But Lucifer will not have MC doing the other brothers’ laundry or clean their rooms. It takes too much time and the brothers will use it as an excuse to occupy MC exclusively.

4. MC is not allowed to help Mammon with his schemes anymore. Not after the calendar incident. Lucifer is still unhappy about all the pin ups that MC posed for. Diavolo keeps asking when the next calendar will be done.

5. MC is not allowed to go to the Celestial Realm without a demon or Simeon or Solomon. Lucifer doesn’t trust Michael. At all.

6. MC is not allowed to wear ‘Daisy Dukes’ or anything that short around the house. Levi’s nosebleed took days to clean up from. Barbatos wondered who Satan had killed.

7. MC is not allowed any pets. They have Mammon. Lucifer’s deemed that sufficient.

8. MC is not allowed to break down any more doors. Nor are they allowed to order one of the brothers to break down any doors. No one has busted into their room since the lock was installed. There’s no need to break doors in retaliation anymore.

9. MC is not allowed to carry a second backpack of snacks. Beel has his own backpack just for snacks. Not to mention, it’s bad for their back.

10. MC is not allowed to take anyone other than Asmo into Asmo’s bath. It’s very sweet they wish to have special baths with everyone else, but Asmo nearly ripped Levi’s tail off after finding a lot of scales in there that clogged up the drain. Same with all the fur from Belphagor’s tail.

I think the Batfamily's protocol for truth serums/ truth artifacts/ etc. is to talk faster than the other party can ask questions. Just them trying to derail the conversation enough that the attackers forget what they originally wanted to ask. Here's what I think they would say when kidnapped and dosed with a truth serum:

Bruce: Usually says in a really deadpan voice "I had an orgy with Green Arrow once". Whoever used the truth serum on him immediately assumes that of course, it doesn't work on Batman, why did I bother. Bruce then only has to keep up with the appearance that the serum did not work on him.

Dick: Gossip. He'll take talk about the Titans or JL stuff that happened years ago while obfuscating the timeline and events ("Oh yeah, Arsenal (back then Speedy) absolutely stole (a sandwich) from Flash (back then Kidflash), he was livid").

Jason: Information on rivals of the kidnappers. He doesn't care if they use the info to kill enemy gang members, so he can lay their plans wide open. Where they stash their drugs, where the guns are, how they transfer money, etc. He's a goldmine of information and it's a win-win for him. If they fight each other they don't bother him and his people.

Tim: Conspiracy theories. He'll start talking about how the earth was flat for 3 minutes and about various shadow governments. Either his kidnappers think he's crazy and his information meaningless or they are very sacred because what.

Cass: She usually tells them in detail how she could kill them. If they readjust their stance she'll explain all the ways it leaves them open. Most are too freaked out to ask any more questions.

Damian: Tries to tell people how many people he murdered. However either they assume the truth serum didn't work or they still can't take him seriously. He found out that if he talks about Jerry most of the kidnappers are too confused why this angry twelve-year-old has a turkey as a pet, managed to convince Batman he can have a turkey as a pet and now tells them how to care for said turkey. They forget what they originally wanted to asks him.

Duke: He'll tell them stories about Gotham and how sometimes when you open a dumpster, you can't stop laughing even though there is a decapitated head in there (Joker gas got trapped in the dumpster). He'll talk about how Gotham used to be haunted by a demon (Barbatos) or various other campfire horror stories (using his powers for added creepy lighting) to scare the kidnappers enough to leave.

"The snowstorm is getting worse," says Albedo, clear disapproval in his voice as he trails after Wriothesley, a hand raised to shield his eyes from the pelting snow. "I suggest returning back to my workstation, otherwise we very well could freeze to death."

Freeze to death.

The phrase has Wriothesley's own blood chilling in his veins, as he wonders if that's the fate that had befallen you. His fists clench in his pockets, the leather of his gloves cracking from the grip. It's been two days already since he's rushed over to dragonspine ever since your disappearance— two days since he's been combing the entirety of this side of the mountain in his desperate search for you. Two days of barely fighting back against the sheer cold and the frost bite, two days of seeing no sign of you at all.

Two days of Wriothesley being in complete, abject terror at the thought that he might have to leave here never knowing what happened to you.

Albedo sighs behind him, rummaging in his pocket for some warming bottles. He slips them into the pocket of Wriothesley's coat quietly. "I have to return now," he says. "Please try not to lose yourself out here, too."

And then he is gone, leaving the Duke alone with his thoughts.

Wriothesley braves the snowstorm for several more hours, shouting your name until his voice cracks, hoping Barbatos would miraculously carry it across the wind to you. It's only when his legs are starting to give out after trekking miles and miles through the snow does he settle down in a small cave, collapsing against the wall. He groans, body practically deadweight, and rummages in his pockets for one of those warming bottles which he quickly smashes on the ground.

As the heat drives the chill from his body, Wriothesley tries to ignore the fatigue in his bones, sighing. It's just as he's about to take some rations that he hears it: someone calling his name over the roar of the snowstorm.

It doesn't take long for him to find out who it is. Within seconds, the Chief Alchemist is appearing at the entrance of his shelter, hair frazzled and coat haphazard, the most frantic Wriothesley has seen him in his short time of knowing him.

"Mister Wriothesley—" he takes a deep breath of air, "In the workshop— we found—"

And Wriothesley is on his feet before he knows it, practically running out of the cave. There's a flicker of hope in his chest as he follows Albedo's lead back to his workshop, just short of sprinting the rest of the way. From the very depths of his heart, he finds himself praying to whichever gods are bothering to listen to please, please let it be you. To let you be safe, be alright. For you to be able to envelop him in a nice, warm hug when he sees you because gods does he need one after the turmoil the past few days have put him through.

He practically tears through the snowy landscape, feet skidding to a halt only when he's at the mouth to Albedo's remote workshop, and his heart stops, then restarts, pounding like the beat of a thousand drums.

"Wrio!" You gasp, smiling widely. You're on a stool, a thick blanket wrapped around your shoulders, feet submerged in a pale of warm water, and alive.

Wriothesley rushes forward, body acting on nothing but instinct to get close to you, to hold you, to make sure that this isn't some twisted dream and he's gonna wake up any second in a snow pile, shivering like a wet dog. "Hi," you murmur quietly when your hand entwines with his, and he breaks, falling to his knees and burying his face into your lap, bathing in your warmth because this is real, this isn't a dream, and he's found you again.

I bet that the people of Fontaine are very happy because i have been doing nothing but hanging out with the Melusine instead of doing the archon quest(though that will eventually come to an end soon). I also bet that new laws/regulations are being proposed because the amount of wacky stuffs the Traveler and their companions is up to all the time. Imagine you just joined the Traveler's team and your first experience is watching a forest watcher beat up some of Fontaine's local legends lmao (and after your recent post, Childe is seething if he learned of this).

New laws being proposed because of the traveler is amazing. It has the same vibe as that gliding law in Mondstadt about taking off using anemo slimes (yes, it works, no, it is not very useful as far as I know. I don't even remember if you get an achievement), because you KNOW there's a story behind it, someone must have tried it and it must've gone very, very wrong, and the wacky circumstances that lead to the creation of new laws would be hilarious to witness.

However, on a more serious note, Wriothesley and Neuvillette would be grappling with the issue of teleportation - how do you arrest someone who can simply just... leave? It doesn't matter how secure a prison is if a bored entity can just take control of one of the prisoners and whisk them away on a whim? Worse yet, since Wriothesley is officially a Vessel, what would happen if an Overseer decided to take control of him and sign official pardons? New rules in the Fortress of Meropide have been implemented - any orders given by the Duke while he is on the team are automatically overruled unless it can be proven that he is acting of his own accord.

I can only imagine how confusing it feels for the newcomers to suddenly join the team and find themselves in the kind of situations the Traveler faces daily... and for the onlookers, of course. "Oh, I wonder who that newcomer is... such a distingushed gentleman, perhaps he's here on business?" "Guys, not to scare you or anything, but that 'distinguished gentleman' dropped a meteor on a crab." "Oh, yes, that huge crab in the-" "No. A regular crab. On the smaller side, even. He just threw a huge meteor at it - didn't even bat an eye. The crab practically disintegrated." "What the hell."

And for those that don't know their teammates - any of the knights of Favonius being placed on a team with Klee know exactly what she's capable of, but someone less familiar with her is about to be shocked. "What in Celestia's name is the Overseer thinking? This is a child, she'll get hu- oh. Oh no."

On the other hand, imagine being a nun-turned-idol, looking to the side to check who your teammates are, and there's the Raiden Shogun standing there as if it's no big deal. A little bird lands on her fingers. She watches it with a wistful expression as it flies away. You look to the other side and see the Dendro Archon chatting with that kind but often drunk bard as if they're old friends. You find yourself in what looks like a domain but soon realise, with no small amount of dread, that you're in the Abyss. At least you have two Archons beside you... Barbatos help you, the challenge has started and there are more monsters than you thought. You're doing your best to keep all your teammates alive - you wouldn't forgive yourself if you were the indirect cause for the fall of a god. So you sing your song and put the hydro circle around your team, but there's just too many enemies, coming from all sides... And then you hear a faint "ehe", and the specters are pulled into a vortex of wind. The Shogun doesn't even need to pull out her signature move, just the swirl reaction the bard has caused is enough. You see him shoot down one of the things with a single Anemo-infused arrow. It dies immediately. He's dealing damage on par with the two Archons on the team. Just what is this bard capable of? Suddenly those rumors about him being Barbatos are starting to seem a little less nonsensical. Surely, it couldn't be true, right? You have half a mind to ask him about it once the four of you exit the Abyss, but as soon as you find yourself outside and able to regain your breath he just gives you a "whoops, gotta go!" and floats away on a wind current you're pretty sure he just created.

Now that I think of it, it'd be fun to imagine how different team dynamics would work - I'll make a separate post for this, but if you've read this far and want to send in asks with your team comps... 👀

Things I'm freaking out about:

Mephisto's whole lecture about the underworld and its rings

the fact that trains were seen as commoner's transportation 'cause they were used by demons who couldn't fly

SOLOMON (as if he wasn't hot enough) walking through all the rings of the underworld

Solomon just kinda laughing about it and then agreeing that it's really just a tourist attraction now???? THAT'S THE UNDERWORLD YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT.

He talks about the city of Dis which is straight up from the Divine Comedy. Does this mean Dante has been their resource all along?! That could explain Diavolo's Italian name...

Because he also talks about Minos who also made an appearance in the Divine Comedy... I'm just sayin!!

They said they're taking Lucifer to Cocytus?!? (Which is also in... you guessed it, the Divine Comedy. Where it's stated to be the home of traitors.)

Isn't that the same thing as the River of Lamentation?!?!

What're they gonna do, drown him???

Mephisto buying all those sweets for his little brother was the cutest thing ever. He needs to stop being precious. I was resisting so well and then he had to go and be a good brother and also be concerned about MC and ask if they were all right and yeah he's annoying but it's kind of endearing too....????

This whole part where he was just asking MC questions & worrying about them being hurt. STOP THAT. This is exactly the kind of thing I live for, you're doing on purpose, aren't you??

Also do you think that when they say commoners are demons that can't fly... are they saying that demons with wings are the only ones that can be nobles? Or are they saying demons with enough power to fly whether that's with wings or not? Because isn't Barbatos actually like a duke or something? Are you really gonna tell me that guy is a commoner? Even if he does work as a butler... maybe it doesn't count 'cause he can portal himself around?

But also! We know Mephisto is a noble so does this mean his demon form has wings? I thought for sure they were going to go with a tail.

BUT ALSO ALSO do the bros not count? They should all be nobles, but they clearly aren't, but they also aren't commoners? Maybe they're neither 'cause they're fallen angels? And we know three of them have tails, so...? I'M CONFUSED ABOUT HOW THIS WORKS.

Okay, sorry I'm getting off on a bit of a tangent here. There's just so much info that we suddenly got in this lesson about the world! And while I've been wanting more such stuff, I was hoping it would clarify some things not make things more confusing.

So anyway, there's a whole lot of underworld which they've mentioned before but only briefly, so it was cool to get more info on that!

Don't worry, Luci. MC has to travel through time as well as space and I don't think a trip through the underworld is going to cut it. I like it when you compliment Solomon, though.

I don't know how to tell you guys that the idea of Solomon walking through the underworld and laughing about it later makes me insane. So I'm just telling you straight out. I'm insane about it.

Are we still talking about the underworld? Because when I hear "tourist attraction" I tend to think of things like the world's largest ball of twine, not playing chess with Minos, Judge of the Damned.

That whole phone conversation with him was just so good. I know I recently wrote a whole post about him being sus and he still is because it's him, but do not misunderstand me because I love that man. I love his cute little laugh that he always does.

Then again, he's clearly terrible at lying. Good at just not saying stuff maybe, but lying directly? I'm not so sure...

So anyway, Lucifer's gonna be executed, huh? I like how both he and Mephi were like nope Diavolo is gonna fix this. They have such unwavering faith in him, it's precious.

Also, I LOVED THIS ENTIRE PART.

Lucifer saying he knows? He knows, but this is home now for him and his brothers? And then MEPHISTO coming right back with then you should understand why MC wants to go home??

I was not expecting Mephistopheles to understand and be concerned about MC wanting to go home like that. It wasn't something like yeah you should go home you're a human and don't belong here. He didn't say anything like that at all. It was just immediately like you must miss your family. Mephisto confirmed family man!

HARD LESSON: Solomon was being a complete menace. He locked Lucifer's brothers in a room??? What's he gonna make them do!? Eat his cooking?? No, he gives his cooking to people because he loves them and wants to make them happy. So it can't be that. My mind... it goes to dangerous places... why did they have to cut off the lesson without telling us what Solomon's intentions were??

I wouldn't mind being locked in that room with them all, though.

Also in the LOCKED LESSON: Barbatos my true love. This whole interaction was amazing. Simeon and Luke are so cute. Diavolo clearly doesn't know Lucifer super well yet and it's so adorable watching him figure it out. And now he's all like Barbatos how can I fix this? And Barb is just like sorry it's too late. LOL he's so strict.

Niflheim Character Charts just dropped and they are the most interesting kingdom, here's why.

There are a lot of things to talk about I don't even know where to begin.

I've seen a lot of blogs here giving their opinion about them, and i wanted to do the same :D

First of all, the only kink that we maybe would've been able to assume was Beleth's, and honestly, that tobacco kink never crossed my mind.

Where do they even get these kinks?

They just get more creative every time.

I'm going to begin with probably my favorite Niflheim demon since today morning.

You have no idea how BAD I wanna know how he ended up surrendering his role as a king even tho he still wants to be the king, just how powerful Bephegor is?

Now a question I've always had that has nothing to do with this post, Who is actually the strongest king? Because every noble says their king is the strongest (except Andrealphus, if I'm not mistaken he said Beelzebub was the one)

But if we put some head into this question, Lucifer should be the strongest, but when they bring up the strongest king in the game either in the story, cards, or events, no one mentions him.

I don't know.

Something that seems interesting to me about his description is that:

They describe Niflheim as a lawless city, which is quite the opposite of what all of us thought since it's a military land and shit.

Did Niflheim become a "Lawless city" because of him and that's why Belphegor dethroned him, or did it become like that because of Belphegor?

And the fact that Agaros is described as the most insane guy in hell is ... crazy.

And gets even crazier when we remember Glasyalabolas, Abaddon itself, and Andrealphus are out there.

Also, it's said that he doesn't recognize Belphegor as his king, and unlike a certain jealous king that we know could never tolerate that, Belphegor probably doesn't give a fuck or is too lazy to bother, so he let him be.

Now, Vassago

Listen, I don't want to judge him this quick, but if there's something I don't like about some characters of the game, is when they are overly and extremely loyal and obedient to their kings, and it's something really common in whb, I like when the characters don't make that their whole personality and even when they're a bit rebellious, some examples are Glasyalabolas, Barbatos, Paimon, Leraye and more.

The thing is that Vassago seems to be the greatest of these types of characters, but again, I'm not going to judge him so soon, I'll wait until we get more information about him to give a more objective opinion.

Then we have Beleth.

I love his eyes omg, they look really simple but there's something about them.

I know the game doesn't respect much the fact that the nobles have ranks in the Ars Goetia, but Beleth is a king, and Agaros is a duke, and it would've been great if they switched their names, I don't know, I don't pay much attention to this since it's a game at the end of the day, there's no need to follow the canon.

Either way, Beleth is like a king in Niflheim, specifically a De Facto King, which according to my mom, is a leader who leads without being authorized to, and yes, this a very resumed definition, we still don't know why this happened, I had my theory that Beleth does as he pleases with Niflheim and Belphegor lets him because he's too lazy to bother, but it's said in his description that he let's people know that the one in charge is Belphegor so my theory doesn't make much sense.

I hope they clarify this in the event because this Niflheim lore seems reaaaaaally interesting.

Also, I think we all noticed, but now we know why he has so many bite marks, the dude gets laid every day and he probably hides a monster down there.

And Belphie and Him have matching horns AGhhh how cute (I have my theory that that's not a horn, but okay)

And now the main guy of the day.

I still have no idea what his kink is, as much as people explain it, I don't get it.

At this point, I think PB is inventing kinks because there's no way.

Him having Narcolepsy is expected, my bets for his mental illness were that and insomnia, maybe one of the reasons he doesn't appear (aside from him being literally the demon king of sloth) is because he has a very serious case of narcolepsy, but I don't know, we'll have to wait until we meet him.

I said this in a post I did before, but I love that he's 1cm taller than Satan and his dick being 0.1 cm bigger, PB did this on purpose obviously and I can't wait to see interactions between them.

Since we don't have an actual description of him, I can't say much, i just know I love him.

So far I think this is the most interesting kingdom, there seems to be a lot of lore behind them and I absolutely love that, I hope we get a lot of information in the event because of my calculations are right, there’s going to be a looooooong while until we can finally meet them in the main story (and since PB is taking so long with the chapters, I don’t expect them to come to the main story until next year)

“Is that any way to greet the Young Master, MC?” Huh, you pause, frozen in the prince’s hug. Barbatos’ voice is sharp and cuts into your soul like an icepick. Diavolo gently untangles you from your hug.

You stare into his golden eyes with wide, confused ones. Will he not make a rebuttal against his Duke? Diavolo’s smile falls and he stones his face into careful neutrality.

“Kneel.” Barbatos instructs from behind your line of sight. You remain frozen for a moment, but break your stillness when he prompts again. You get on your knees in front of Lord Diavolo and gulp heavily.

“Kiss his shoes.”

You feel like you’re being punked, but you move to your hands and knees and press your lips softly against the cool leather of his fancy, royal shoes. Your arms tremble as you hold yourself off the ground, not from lack of strength, but from nerves.

“Both of them.” Barbatos snaps at you, voice cold.

You’re half glad Diavolo isn’t talking, that would probably make things worse, unless he would tell Barbatos to stop. It’s… embarrassing. You’ve been greeting Diavolo with hugs for a year now, and you’ve never had to kiss his shoes before.

“Lick them. Show that you’re sorry for disrespecting the Young Master.”

Your heart pounds heavy in your chest and you hold back tears, you feel like youre in trouble, yet you don’t know what you’ve done wrong.

You cringe, yet you do so, trying not to ruin the leather with slobber. It tastes salty and the texture is unnatural against your face.

“What a sloppy job…,” Barbatos clicks his tongue. “I can only expect so much from an incompetent human.”

You hear his shoes click as he approaches you and a disappointed sigh, Barbatos’ hand tangles into your hair and pushes and holds your head down and your tongue uselessly presses to the slick leather. He’s kneeling behind you, you can feel the heat of his legs beside your back.

He continues to drag your open mouth against Diavolo’s shoes before, once he’s deemed your work acceptable, lets up on you.

Spit dribbles down your chin and you look up at Lord Diavolo pitifully. He cocks his head and keeps his face neutral. Barbatos moves away from behind you, returns to where he stands behind your sight.

“Don’t be so hard on them, Barbatos. Although I can’t say I minded this way of being greeted this way.” A smirk graces his face, and he winks down at you.
