Incorrect, the fact that Biden has dropped out and a candidate with history of supporting medicare for all and being more receptive to a ceasefire in the I/P conflict has made me go from "I cannot morally support the Democratic nominee" to "I am voting for the Democratic nominee despite the fact she isn't perfect in every respect." I'm really happy this played out. The Dems for the most part abandoned the old Obama platform and it feels like its possible an actual progressive agenda could come to pass in my lifetime.

I wonder if the assumption that trump won because voters care alot about inflation and are being radicalized rightwards (both of which i admittedly held) are actually untrue*, and the actual reason for trumps victory is that democrats could not whip up a big enough voting bloc in comparison to republican voters. The democrats certainly werent sending their best with all that support for palestinian genocide. Also the fact joe biden was so old and mentally unfit for presidency! Not a good look for the democrats, that probably alienated their voters to the point that the relatively reliable voter base of trump was able to carry him through.

*the outcomes of the election are obviously caused by a combination of rightwing radicalization, concern for inflation, voter apathy, and other reasons, a reductionist view of politics where everything can be attributed to a specific cause and not others is just wrong, just voter apathy had the strongest impact of all causes
