Just another story to add to the chorus of voices shouting about the Healthcare industry.
Many years ago, my father had a heart attack at work. He was rushed via ambulance to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. He did not have insurance as he was still under his probationary period with his current employer.
I proceeded to get a bill for all of the expenses involved. It cost over $15,000. Fifteen grand to pick my dad up and drop him at the hospital and say he's dead. And they billed me and called me and sent threatening letters. I was panicking.
And then a financial advisor says to ignore it. I was in disbelief. "How am I going to ignore it? It's going to ruin my credit score, I'll never be able to rent an apartment, I'll be in debt forever."
"You're not legally obligated to pay it." That's right. Medical debt, along with pretty much all debt, is not inherited. These fucking vultures were trying to convince me I was obligated to pay this obscene bill. They were harassing a 23-year-old who had just lost his father to collect debt they had no legal right to.
Fuck these people. I hope every Healthcare CEO, every shareholder, every rich fuck who fills their wallets with the deaths of the poor gets shot in the fucking face. It's a mercy compared to what they deserve.

Radical ideas, but:
Pay people appropriately and enough to live comfortably
Health insurance shouldn't be tied to your job, universal healthcare
Tax the rich
Billionaires shouldn't exist
TRICKLE DOWN DOESN’T WORK; THE ULTRA WEALTHY JUST HOARD IT AND CRUSH EVERYONE ELSE
Getting really tired of capitalism; it doesn't work and is literally destroying the world

Just found out that the ONLY food bank in my area (and, in fact, just down the road from me) is awful. We'd already had issues with them not caring about allergies (sending food we specifically stated we can't eat) but apparently they fired a family friend for standing up for trans rights (including not requiring my trans fiance to out himself by presenting his ID) and she's also told us that they also are racist, requiring everyone there to speak English, not properly distributing donations (often hoarding them for themselves) and lying to the local government, saying they are underfunded when they have more than enough money. (Honestly considering they recently installed a greenhouse, I believe that!) They also give our two person home food for one person (one package of ramen, for example)
I'm really mad about it. But I'm even MORE mad that I don't have any other options. We would starve for 1/4 of the month if we didn't go there...
(Im so sorry i JUST found this in my drafts.. i really didnt mean to ignore it)
Having to use systems that you don't agree with morally for survival is ok. Like yea that's all garbage and I'm so sorry that's the set up you gotta go through.
In my city a big problem is most food services require you to go through some relgious hoops. Sitting through service, saying grace, attending a certain type of church. You also MUST have ID for everyone in the house, must prove you live at the address, often times wait in long lines outside building in humiliating fashions.
For me, looking at this on a large system level though, Capitalism doesn't exsist without a Cost to it. In these moments, the harassment, the embarrassment, the "how dare you ask for a change your so lucky you got this at all!" Or having to sit threw a religion or grace when you where raise to believe chruch to be evil is the Cost of their transaction. So Capitalism can go "See, you don't want to end up like them"
Similarly, when your poor sometimes going to 3 locations to get the deals you need from stores or having to take the bus, the extra work is the Cost there.
Now, does this make any of it ok?
Of course NOT
Allergies, giving less then needed, etc.. are all serious offenses. There should be oversight, there should be someone stepping in.
But in the absence of justice, of the ability to fix it with our own hands, let me just say I know exactly the hell this is. And imma comfort you threw it however I can.

I have far more in common with the Boomer who lives in Section 8 housing and uses food stamps than I do with Mark Zuckerberg.

Indigenous Hawaiians really had a good system going: wake up reaaally early and do most of the days work while it's cool and by the time the sun was up and it got hot the work was done and you're free to surf and socialize. I wish the white people realized they themselves could work smarter and not harder and get time to relax. Instead of calling Hawaiians lazy (and being genocidal about it)
#Ik this happened in most if not all tropical regions that got colonized#they were so pissed that these 'lazy' people got all sorts of fruit and natural bounty 'handed to them'#when those indigenous people were just working before the colonizers woke up and felt no need to kill themselves in midday heat#Which is what's natural for an apex predator: lazing around#Like u see lions in big cuddle puddles during the hottest part of the day. And they have the privilege of laziness by being the top predato#Idk if lions have a specific time they hunt but ik they will hunt at night when people can't observe them#Also Europeans failed to recognize indigenous agriculture and the /purposeful / cultivation of helpful plants (done w/out clearing the land#And even if they were only foraging. Like. If you love the earth and care for it (and not clear it) the earth will love you back idk#Gah! It's just like we coulda eradicated capitalism in its cradle if Euroamericans werent so arrogant and sure their way of life was correc#Like what if they were explorers and not conquistadors and colonizers. And there was a true cultural exchange#Would it have been better if the Europeans never crossed the ocean (even if they weren't there to colonize)? yeah probably#Like while the disease thing wasn't on purpose (initially) Europeans did inadvertently kill a lot of people bc they had no immunity#But I also acknowledge the human desire to explore and see what's out there#But I wish it was like#Europeans: here's some horses and metal tools#Indigenous people: thanks. Here's a way of life more in harmony with nature and an understanding that we're part of the ecosystem#Europeans: oh cool let me bring these ideas back to Europe. Maybe we won't deforest all of England#(I say Europeans but eventually when Canada and America became independent entities they also were responsible for these things)#Capitalism#capitalism is hell#anti capitalism#Colonization#colonialism#colonial violence#Imperialism#conquistador#age of exploration#anti colonialism#anti colonization#hawaiʻi

Hello company under late stage capitalism. In front of you is a candidate for hire. You have 45 minutes to figure out if they are a good fit for the part time position you are hiring for without asking them to complete the SAT, take a personality test, or ask invasive questions. If you fail, The Creature will be released. Good luck.

⬇️This But For Every City on Earth. ⬇️
Tumblr media
[ID: a quote tweet by Euan Yours @/Euan Yours, that reads, "Everyone who works within this circle but can't afford to buy a house there should not go to work for a single day and see how well that goes for the people who can. The quoted tweet is a tweet by Kev 🇬🇧 🏡 @/kevinf567, that reads, "Ok, I'll raise you. There should be no social housing in this area. This is the most expensive real estate in the country. It should be for peopl..." and then it trails off but if you open the tweet it says some classist shit. Then there's an image of a map of London that has been circled in the most expensive region of the city. /end ID]
No for real this but for every city on earth.

I have a question, are you a communist?
... I used to be... well maybe I still sorta am. My main point is that the American System is broke, for a lot longer than we all realize honestly, and Capitalism needs to die and be replaced. I lean more towards socialism as I don't want to be rich I just want to live comfortably. I want to be able read books, play video games, exercise, and write stories without having to worry about running out of the money I need to eat food, drive my car, or live in a comfy house. I essentially hate having to need money to live.
I know it's going to be fucking difficult almost impossible to get rid of capitalism. But right now, any system sounds better than one run by a system where people have to stomp on one another to get higher towards an unobtainable goal, like capitalism... Except fascism, nobody likes fascism except idiots who think they can buy their way out of anything or morons who believe their smart just because they own a tech company... Huh? What? I wasn't talking about anyone.
