i think this is the first time i'm genuinely struggling with a boss fight in this game in a way that's not just the fun parry timing learning curve
#have i managed to parry any of the longer phase 2 combos yet? no but i can totally do it#i parried like 5 of the light speed attack the other time and i'm getting longer and longer on the long combo#and sometimes i parry like 3 or 4 of the sword of lumiére attack so we're getting there#i can totally do this without some more big brain respeccing#(and by big brain respeccing i of course mean putting the already tiny amount maelle has in health and defense into speed and damage lol)

#mse's playing clair obscur: expedition 33#clair obscur: expedition 33 spoilers#i mean it's hard to learn combos made of like a dozen moves when the first hit kills you#and i can't use my usual mitigation tactics because this guy eats my shield#and respeccing to put more points into vitality and defense feels like a waste of time when one of his extra moves is to reduce my hp to 1#it's not even his regular move it's just an extra move he does sometimes on top of his attack#also i need to get through his phase 1 every time first#god maybe this is something i do post game? if that's an option?#idk if i can get back to these areas after finishing the story or if doing this affects the story outcome in any way#and yes i know i could try dodging it first... i think i'm gonna sleep on it#i still have some build ideas i wanna try

i actually really love the game mechanics with the pictoses in this game. it essentially gives you the option to respec your character on top of the already existing and easily accessible respec option, and that's without mentioning the passive effects which are also freely swappable at any point to adapt to any new builds on the fly.

i think maelle's counter attack damage might be broken in my build lol

dragon age 2 is running again, which is great, but it's also pretty fucking concerning that i couldn't open the game for 2 weeks straight because EA forces you to use a launcher app to play their games - even if it's a 15-year-old game that doesn't need online support - that sometimes just randomly malfunctions for literal weeks at a time. big video game companies are truly some of the worst of the tech industry and that sure is saying something.
