SUPTOBER - DAY 31 - HALLOWEEN / COSTUMES So the thing is that I had this idea for last year's suptober prompt "Trick or Treat" already. Time and work was not nice with me that October, so the little Star Trek fans (I imagine Cas as Bones aka Dr McCoy) and baby Jason (don't worry he only has a butter knife) had to wait this year to go trick or treating. Anyway, this is a wrap, once in my life I finished a whole month with drawings for each day. WOOHOO! Tomorrow I will make a masterpost about everything. Today in the Department of Before They Were Star Trek Stars, Leonard Nimoy guest stars in "A Quality of Mercy," episode 15 of the third season of The Twilight Zone (original air date December 29, 1961). Nimoy plays the radio operator of a U.S. Infantry unit in the Philippines, in the final days of WWII.

The unit is put under the command of an inexperienced, glory-hungry young Lieutenant (Dean Stockwell) who wants to take them on a pointless, dangerous raid while there's still time to make a name for himself. Instead, he finds himself transported, Quantum Leap-style, into the body of a Japanese officer. When he comes back to his own body, his newfound sense of perspective leads him to call off the raid just before they get the news from Hiroshima.

Star Trek the Motion Picture premiered on December 8, 1979. Paramount had planned to launch a new television network and was going to relaunch Star Trek as Star Trek Phase II as the part of its initial programming. When the network fell apart, Paramount decided to rework Phase II into a movie. The motion picture introduced new Star Trek and Klingon themes by Jerry Goldsmith as well as a new look for the Klingons. New uniforms were introduced in this film, but they were hated and discarded for following films. Until the movie franchise was rebooted in 2009, this film had the longest run time of all the Star Trek films. Until Superman (1980) was released, it was the most expensive film made. It was the only Star Trek film in the franchise to be rated G. The film brought back the crew from the TV series James T Kirk (William Shatner), Spock (a reluctant Leonard Nimoy), Dr McCoy (DeForest Kelley), Scotty (James Doohan), Sulu (George Takei), Dr Chapel (Majel Barrett), Chekov (Walter Koenig), Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) and Janice Rand (Grace Lee Whitney). The movie introduced the new characters Decker (Stephen Collins) and Ilia (Persis Khambatta). Paramount and Director Robert Wise were annoyed by Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry's constant script rewrites and story demands. The film was mostly savaged by critics and the public, but financially successful. Paramount was onboard for a sequel as long as Roddenberry was involved in name only. So, I've been watching episodes of Supernatural over my lunch break since... last week's apocalyptically shitty news. And I just thought of something. CW created both the Arrowverse and Supernatural. And in Supernatural, Dean tends to call Sam "bitch", to which Sam replies "jerk".

In season 2 of The Flash, Lisa Snart calls Len a jerk and his response is to call her a trainwreck. It's prolly coz it would have hit different to call your sister a bitch, but damn... does this mean the writers of Supernatural had a hand in some of the scripts for The Flash????
