I'm making some pad thai sauce, which is supposed to be for supper tomorrow, but it smells so good that I may make the executive decision to have it for supper tonight.

If it tastes as good as it smells, it will be

a) the best pad thai I've made so far

b) entirely impossible to recreate, since I stretched my fish sauce with soy sauce and anchovies, and stretched my brown sugar with honey and molasses.

But about 812 times more aggressive. If I had to pick which one to stumble across in the wild (...or the post office...), I'll take the gator every time. Snapping turtles are total assholes if they're out of the water.

But credit to a UPS driver - when I had a baby bearded dragon shipped from Florida, she was accidentally left behind at the facility when the driver left with the truck. After several frantic phone calls between myself, the breeder, and UPS, the driver went back after his shift ended, found the box, and got the beardie to us that night, alive and ready to thrive. She lived for nine years, none the worse for a few extra hours in a box.

...Though beardies are rather more friendly than snapping turtles or gators! 😅

As I walked home from class yesterday, I realized that I really, really like the shape of my life right now.

It's not perfect, and I have a lot of things that I want to improve, but I'm studying something I love, surrounded by people I like to be around, and my days are interesting and exciting!

It's such a nice change from a year or two ago, when I felt so isolated and lost in school, and felt like, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't get enough traction to make improvements.
