a spiderverse x spiderman!reader x batfam concept different from my spidernoir one

exposition is fairly simple, peni-parker!reader comes back from the boarding school they were sent to by the family to "keep them out of vigilante business" but are blissfully unaware that for the past few months, peni!reader's been working on a mech suit to support their new found spider powers, after getting bitten by a radioactive spider while away at school.

with access to bruce's batcave, luke's indulgence in your "academic strive" and your stealth and sneaking about, you're able to make your suit pretty quickly. unresolved feelings from your past, and this sense of debt you feel, you decide to repay by being SP//dr... spider for easy-comms.

the thing is, peni!reader is an anomaly, since this spiderman in this universe in not meant to exist. maybe some stuff with the spider society and all can come in and we find out that actually, the spider that bit peni!reader was from this universe and spiderman is allowed to exist here.

but to investigate what a radioactive spider with the wrong genetic data was doing in your universe, where is wasn't supposed to be* spidernoir agrees to drop down to gotham to help peni!reader to figure it out. he becomes, essentially, a father figure for reader, something that bruce hasn't been able to due to the weight of reader's and his past.

meanwhile, when peni!reader comes back to the manor from 'boarding school' the family notices physical and mental changes in them. their more distant, dismissive... confident in their skin. though you guys never had much time to talk or hangout or bond like they do, the development is difficult to notice.

additionally, sightings of a man in a trench coat and a car-sized robot swinging around have been going around, doing god knows what. the batman doesn't like being unprepared, and tries to scour out their identities and whereabouts. i have some really small little ideas that'd be funny for the whole run, like spidernoir showing up for a parent-teacher conference instead of bruce, ai assistant karen, commentary from spiderpunk, constantine and strange link up and also delve a little into what the themes between spiderman variants, spiderman, and batman are that make them so different are.

AO3 is Removing 'All Media Types' without Public Input or Announcement. What Can We Do?

What's Happening?

For those who don't yet know: AO3 and the Tag Wranglers have begun to slowly remove the 'All Media Types' tag for older fandoms. Aka, removing the 'umbrella' tag for many franchises, and forcing franchises to be split by media, or to be shoved under one umbrella that does not accurately reflect the types of fics or source medias they come from. This has been slowly occurring with no official announcement, under the pretense that things will be 'easier' to manage, or that some users claimed that the 'All Media Types' tag was confusing. This has begun in secrecy, without genuine input from the userbase, and without any public announcement. (As of 9/5/2024 9:30 AM PST) Many of us are pretty confident in AO3 staff's decisions, but the fact that this decision is not only incredibly impactful, but made without public input, has deeply violated the condition of the site as an archive... an archive of OUR own.

Current seen issues and active risks:

Removal of 'All Media Types' automatically makes fics from different sources in the same franchise a 'crossover', forcing users to consider non-crossover fics 'crossovers'. So, any fanfic that spans or implements elements from multiple pieces of media in a franchise are now considered a 'crossover', despite being from the same franchise and not a crossover.

Removal of 'All Media Types' forces users to manually search for the fics and ships they want one by one through each fandom tag in a related franchise. (Imagine looking through all the separate DC or MARVEL movies one by one).

The 'include crossovers' and 'exclude crossovers' filters are now useless, and removing genuine crossovers (crossovers between franchises) must be done manually through the filter system, which can take upwards of half an hour, if not longer, with the amount of one-off genuine crossovers that exist.

Slightly smaller franchises are being shoved under the umbrella of a single, super popular fandom. (See, Sherlock Holmes. All Sherlock Holmes media has been relegated to the tag 'Sherlock TV', which confuses users, as the tag now includes not only BBC Sherlock, which is the umbrella tag, but any works based off of Arthur Conan Doyle's original works, the 2009 Sherlock Holmes films, and the 16+ Sherlock Holmes adaptations and international TV shows... none of which are BBC Sherlock.)

Anime and manga fandoms (especially smaller ones) are being automatically split by media type, without regard to the fact that many anime and manga adaptations are very similar, and/or authors tend to often implement elements from both anime and manga.

As far as we are aware, no one is going to be correcting any improper sorting resulting from this.

Accounts that are no longer active/accessible, memorial accounts, and orphaned fics and no longer be corrected by their original authors and are at risk of being misplaced into incorrect fandom tags. Unfortunately, no one can fix this but the tag wranglers, who were supposedly removing 'All Media Types' in the first place to prevent MORE work. Counter intuitive, isn't it?

Already, fandoms are being improperly split, others being improperly merged, and still more being far more confusingly sorted. This deeply damages AO3's integrity as an ARCHIVE.

What Can I Do?

As soon as it's back up again, make sure to stop by the Contact Support page! There, you're able to let them know exactly how you feel about this, and what fandoms your fear will be impacted by these changes. Many already have been.

🌹Selfship Database Introduction!! 🌹

Hello, everyone! Inspired by other blogs such as selfshippersfromthissource and there being blogs with this kind of gimmick in the past, I wanted to try my hand at this—making a carrd that functions as a database sorted by source/fandom. While it can function as a way to find selfshippers in the same source or just wanting to see if someone ships from a certain source, I’d also like to see which sources are the most common within selfshippers!

Please reply/reblog/send an ask if you would like to be included! I will not include anyone who does not give me this kind of confirmation.  And below read more will be some ground rules going forth for this blog :-) of course, things can change as this database evolves, but these are the guidelines I am currently following!

1- While I understand this can and will impact results, I ask that those will label themselves as proshippers dni for my own personal comfort. i have no desire to entertain or be neutral toward incest, rape, pedophilia, whatever on my own blog. i have no desire to entertain people shipping with minors while they’re adults, rapists, fascists, pedohpiles, etc. While I try to stay in the know, I cannot simply know everything, so I will always assume 100% good faith unless I have proof otherwise. I can remove people from the database. However, outside of these reasons, unless you personally request to be taken off, I won’t ever remove anyone.

2- I will also refrain from including the following sources on my blog/database— countryhumans, hetalia, attack on titan, your boyfriend/boyfriend to death, the coffin of andy and leyley, degrees of lewdity, harry potter. Other than whatever is listed and anything that may apply to the first one, everything else is on the table. Whatever’s listed can be changed, but I would rather not blacklist a lot.

3- As there are some things that I won’t include and there’s some boundaries in place, I understand fully this won’t be a fully unbiased/100% accurate database. While I would like to see the data and to combine my interest in this kind of subject with selfshipping, this is purely for fun and a side project for me. Please do not use my blog as some kind of factual source (I mean, it’s a tumblr blog, so no matter… it’s not one lol) and please keep things lighthearted.

4- A source/fandom will be listed whenever there's two selfshippers for that source. Exceptions may apply if certain sources/fandoms are requested. Though, I won’t accept every request if there’s not enough selfshippers for a source.

5- For simplicity and not overworking myself, for this database, I will only include romantic and queerplatonic f/os. Queerplatonic f/os will be noted as such with (QP) by the character's name. If you want to he included, all I ask is there to be a public f/o list somewhere accessible on your blog. You don’t have to send it to me as long as it’s linked somewhere easy to find on your blog.

6- For the time being, some media will be lumped together, examples being Marvel, DC, Disney, Slashers, Tim Burton, etc. Some may be given their own section if there’s a notable amount of selfshippers for a certain media in that category and/or by request potentially.

7- For any updates to people’s f/o lists, I will try to schedule times where I personally look through them again and make any changes to keep the database current. It’s not required at all, but any heads ups would be appreciated! 

8- Anonymous is turned off for asks for my own comfort. If you send an ask that you don’t want answered or would like to have your url cropped out of, please include it SOMEWHERE in your ask, either at the end or beginning will work. Also, currently, messages are turned off. They may be turned on in the future if need be. Unfortunately, I cannot see shadowbanned blogs. Please be aware!

9- Please note that I am one person. I am also a selfshipper, a non-sharing one at that, but I am hoping to be able to push through if that ever comes up in order to make this database. There may be days where I’m not active on this blog or answering asks. Please be patient with me!! If I ever decide to step away from this project, I will make a clear post that states that exactly.

10- Now, as I am dealing with a large part of the community, I understand the risks that could occur with something like this. If something bad was to ever occur from this database (drama in general, me dealing with any strong negativity), depending on the severity, I will shut down this project. Especially if others are harassed for something. I do not tolerate harassment at all.

I may add more or remove some aspects in the future. For now, the carrd will be public with the sources in alphabetic order. Then, the urls and characters said selfshipper ships with will be in each section. Suggestions are welcomed for things I could add or change! Though, I may be picky with what suggestions I take to stay on task for this database.

"Can I trust these new leaks?"

Short answer: No. Almost all of the accounts who are sharing these leaks throughout the community have a questionable past.

Long answer: Minou and The Cat's Meow have been not-so blessed with knowing many of these accounts in a more intimate way and, as a result, have information pertaining to them that other people do not. We took administrative positions in their private communities such as Discord servers, and also experienced problematic instances involving minors firsthand. While this was publicly available in June and July, it did not reach enough people, until now.

UPSIDEDOWNSCOOP ON TWITTER

Upsidedownscoop is run by two men aged 18 and older, Sam and Tim. They befriended a new Twitter account, Bylerupdates, otherwise known as Lauren, who was a woman aged 17, and gained the majority of their reputation through her leaking groupchat (now Macid).

She, along with her friends, pursued the pair sexually, which Sam was receptive to. She managed to convince them to exchange photos of her body for their photos of the Stranger Things set. Tim and Sam were both aware of this and the implications, and later acknowledged the damage this would have caused to a young, impressionable person.

After this information reached the public, Tim "found out" that Lauren was not the only victim, and that many girls as young as 10 were being groomed in a similar manner. He claims to have removed access to the account from Sam, but all of his actions after the fact disprove this: he lied about the situation, claimed that Lauren told them a false age, and removed all connections between he and the members of Minou. This makes sense when compared to his response earlier into their relationship, in which he laughed when Lauren opened up about the exchange.

Both parties refuse to share further comments, and are strictly against communicating with The Cat's Meow.

HAWKINS HAPPENINGS ON TWITTER

Hawkins Happenings is one of few leaking accounts who has openly supported Upsidedownscoop. Despite claiming to have cut contact with the pair prior to finding out about this situation, he continues to interact with them in a positive light publicly, and has privately threatened Minou when confronted. He insists that it was all a lie, and that he was not aware of the additional, younger girls, but refuses to believe it is "as bad as we say".

By extension, Hawkins Happenings is one of few leaking accounts who has shared false information stemming from accounts previously exposed by Minou. For example, after Willsxbylers sent news accounts a fake set of videos taken at the Stranger Things set, Hawkins Happenings insisted it was real and cited both Tate and Orlando Willis. Orlando Willis was a fake account created by Minou and our associated groups, specifically coming from Macid, which is where the situation with Lauren occurred.

Hawkins Happenings has close connections with Sam. They are aware of his personal account. There are rumoured messages available between the two, but Sam has yet to release them, blaming "a want for attention and fun".

He refuses to share further comments, and is strictly against communicating with The Cat's Meow.

MYTIMETOSHINEHELLO ON TWITTER AND REDDIT

This is my time to shine, hello (as in, move away from that situation, as complex and horrible as it is).

Mytimetoshinehello is a known leaker in the Marvel and DC communities. As a result, many people do not research the individual, but rather accept everything at face value. It turns out that, from as early as 4 years ago, this account has been criticized multiple times by these same communities for having a history of fake, exaggerated leaks and connections to the media industry. There are old rumours that Mytimetoshinehello was part of the conceptual teams at DC, which was later abandoned by her supporters due to this history.

This has begun to reach Twitter. As such, we have decided to provide the original thoughts of the leaking portions of the Marvel and DC communities, with the earliest being from 3 years ago. While she may have been reputable at one point of her career, she has lost that many years ago, and it's important that anybody reading this, especially if they are in the informative fields, keeps this in mind prior to citing an individual as their "reliable source".

Other potential sources that you might want to look into are HawkinsAVClub on Reddit, and, of course, The Cat's Meow, if you will.

Steve going to the Smithsonian not infrequently in his free time after he moved down to DC. Finding a refuge in the accessibility of the museums. Blending in with the crowds. But especially taking advantage of the National Gallery and spending HOURSSSS looking at the art.

Following his own little routine as he trails through the halls, first starting in the West Building and scanning through works by Monet and Rembrandt. Marveling at the architecture of the Rotunda and how magnificent it all is before making his way down to the concourse where he gets himself a coffee from the gelato bar and sits in the little cafe, watching the waterfall from the fountain above ground pour water through the glass:

Then making his way deeper through the concourse to the East Building to look at the contemporary works and getting stuck EVERY time on the moving walkway that has the huge light installation around it:

And truly, I picture him as such a visual guy. Like sounds overwhelm him, but he gets so much stimulation from bright, moving lights that he spends so much time just staring at the wall and ceilings of the moving walkway.

And his world might have ended and the world around him might be falling apart and his name and his home and his title might not belong to him anymore. The world might have picked those things apart.

But this is just for him. His own little refuge that he's built for himself.

So I'm not seeing a lot about this yet, which is probably because the rest of the world is on fire, but I need to make sure y'all realize what a pretty massive deal Diamond Comics Distributors bankruptcy is going to be to the comics world and comic book stores in general for the next little while.

They were a massive monopoly in terms of big name comic distribution, and they did all of the really obnoxious things that monopolies do. They pressured stories to carry comics exclusively through them, they made life a real pain in the ass for independent comics trying to get any kind of foothold in the brick-and-mortar world, they controlled, mishandled, and mismanaged all kinds of things.

On the one hand it's not a bad thing to see a crappy and controlling distributor like this get broken up a bit. On the other hand this news dropped without any real notice, and like with many chapter 11 declarations it's not super clear how fast proceedings are going to go and what operations are going to be maintained when and where. You are likely to see the folks who run your friendly local comic stores looking real frazzled and distracted for the next little while. There's a reasonable chance that you may see some disruption in your pull lists if not your ability to access some comic Studios products at all.

People are going to be scrambling. The uncertainty of it sucks. Independent folks run on tight margins at every level and this is going to disrupt their flow.

This is not going to break the industry or anything like that, big shops like Marvel and DC have diversified too well and are big enough that they can probably start pulling together their own distribution before too long. But if you are a fan of comics from smaller independent publishers, now would be a great time to checking in to see if you can buy from them directly, or if your friendly local comic shop already has a local distribution deal with them. And if you've been eyeing something in your local comic shops that isn't your usual floppies, now might be the time to pull the trigger on those figurines or that game or whatever else they sell.

Supporting independent comic studios and indy comic shops is always a good idea, and we can all use a little joy in our lives these days. Please use this as an excuse to try something new

Dp x Dc fic idea

Part 2

So I've been re-watching Yu Yu Hakusho lately and was struck with an idea. What if there was a tradition in the Infinite Realms that the Ghost King would conduct a multiverse level fighting tournament? It probably started as control measure of some sort or stress relief for extremely powerful beings and the Ghost King is the only one who's true neutral enough to judge and powerful enough to kick their asses if they misbehave.

And the final prize is that the Ghost King would grant you a wish? As well as one time access to Zeroth Hour? And that's a reward no one can resist.

I'm imagining a scenario where Darksied or something was gearing up to once again invade Earth, and the JL and affiliated all prepared to defend the planet but before the attack could be launched, a green blob appeared right in front of Darkseid and somehow it actually makes the tyrant flinch. That made everyone pay attention. And then the blob announces the beginning of the tournament and Darkseid promptly packs up and leaves, leaving the heroes dumbfounded.

So something like this:

The air was rife with tension. All eyes were on Metropolis, at the gaping maw of the portal opening right above the city. The forces of Apokolips were once again invading. Darkseid had declared war.

Earth's heroes stood grim, ready to give their lives in defence of the planet. Their gazes were fixed on Darkseid, standing in front of his army, surveying his opponents. His general stood behind him, primed for combat.

Abruptly the pressure doubled, and the heroes tensed, readying for battle.

Darkseid raised his left hand, to light the spark of war. But before he could bring it down, the space between the two factions, right there in the middle, twisted.

And from the distortion, a titanic, green, humanoid...blob appeared.

The heroes stared. The New Gods stared. The creature did not stare, as it had no eyes, nor did it care.

It then spoke, with a solid, booming voice completely incongruous with its make.

The heroes watched in bafflement as their greatest foe jolted.

"The Infinite Realms hereby declares the beginning of the Grand Tourney. You are cordially invited to participate on behalf of Apokolips."

Among the Earth forces, one John Constantine felt dread overcome his body as he realized what exactly was happening. Shit, was it that time of the millennium already?

Captain Marvel seemed to be on the same vein of thought as the Wisdom of Solomon as well as the knowledge of his predecessors filled him in on what was going on.

The Dark members in the know had similar reactions. All across the planet, and in the dimension, magical entities who had tuned into watch the fatal confrontation, felt excitement racing through them as they realized what this meant. Other beings? Not so much.

Batman was cataloguing these strange turn of events carefully. Superman was puzzled but still held himself ready. Green Lantern was trying to figure out why exactly his ring was behaving strangely and giving out sparks. Martian Manhunter was analyzing the curious psionic readings he was getting from the creature.

Wonder Woman and Aquaman however had the dawning expression of recognition on their faces, which did not go unnoticed by their Gothamite colleague.

Surprisingly the Flash was looking at the creature as if it wasn't the first time he saw it. That too was noted by the Dark Knight.

On the Apokolips side however, there were no signs of puzzlement. Instead it looked like excitement was spreading like wildfire through the army, and even Darkseid looked eager.

The creature took note of none of these developments and continued.

"The first event is the Great Hunt. As an invited participant, a hint would be provided to you should you accept".

It bent its great, gelatinous head towards the Apokoliptian ruler.

"Do you accept, Uxas of Apokolips?"

In response, Darkseid stepped forward. "I accept."

And in a flash, before the New God appeared a pitch black card, and the creature announced, "Uxas, Ruler of Apokolips, Participant Number R813."

It straightened to its full height. "Your first hint is on Apokolips, young ruler."

And the next second it was gone, with the same exact warping of space it had come from.

The two factions were left alone, sans eldritch green goop.

Most of the heroes had one thought: What the fuck just happened and did the green goop thing call Darkseid young?"

Darkseid did not waste anytime however. He turned to his army and ordered, "Retreat!"

And just like that the great army filtered back through the portal they had come from, and the mortals heroes of Earth watched, perplexed. They still held themselves at the ready, in case this was all a ploy of some sort, and half of them believed it was. After all, what could make an obsessive tyrant like Darkseid turn back?

A good portion of the heroes were trying to figure out what the Grand Tourney the creature had mentioned was.

And those in the know? Well they knew chaos was incoming.

The portal closed and just like that, Earth lived to see another day. Via interruption by magical goop.

And there you have it! Personally I think a scenario like this is hilarious. Imagine you're on the battlefield, facing a gargantuan, godly army, readying yourself for a battle that could kill you. And then the battle was cancelled cause your opponent had somewhere urgent to be.

I don't have a clear cut idea on what Zeroth Hour is beyond it being a great timey-wimey, wibbly-wobbly thing, so any ideas are welcome.

The Tourney only happens once every 100,000 years, and it takes place across the omniverse, on different terrains, different timelines, different dimensions and so on. The card that Darkseid got acts as an access key to tournament sites he doesn't normally have access to. The card also monitors participants and is programmed to hell and back to not allow the participants to misuse it. There are dire consequences if you do.

There are 14 stages in total, and the final, combat stage is conducted in a ever evolving, ever changing battle ground on the edges of the Ghost Zone.

Faerie here is not the Fair Lands in DC, and does not follow the dc fictional mythology.

Infinite Beings do not take part in the Tourney.

The last victor was a half dragon, half god prince from Dimension 976123065. He asked for the opportunity to court Princess Dorothea. It was a reality show moment for the Ghost Zone.

Also some extra details:

The JL would of course come to know what the Grand Tourney is, and then realize that if Darkseid won, he would get the anti-life equation that way. And before they could panic their mind would be blown by the fact that apparently, Darkseid is not likely to win at all, cos there are bigger players in the game.

Constantine would be forced to admit that even if you don't get an invitation, you can still participate if you register. Though you won't get the opening hint or any other boosts until Stage 5. He can't understand why anyone would want to considering that those who do get invitations are on the level of Darkseid and higher.

Batman would insist they check it out.

Constantine would say that he has no idea where the registration office is.

Captain Marvel would chime in that the office was most likely in the Faerie.

Constantine would then insist that they have no business messing around in the Faerie. JL Dark would nod vehemently in agreement.

Batman insists they at least watch the tournament. Constantine gets conned into organizing a watch party.

One for All and Captain Marvel/Shazam

I once found it neat that Horikoshi referenced Fawcett Comics's Captain Marvel, specifically Captain Marvel Jr., during the early days of My Hero Academia.

The reference in question was how young Izuku has "All Might Jr." as a hero name listed among a myriad of hero names he has thought up.

I am also not surprised that the reference went over a lot of people's heads considering how Captain Marvel, or was it already Shazam, didn't have a modern theatrical release at the time and the hero was only in the minds of avid comic book readers and/or DC animation watchers and DC video game players (He's called Captain Marvel in Mortal Kombat vs. DC)

Now that I think more about it, the more I think that One For All works the same as the lightning that gives Captain Marvel his powers.

So for the uninitiated, SHAZAM stands for

With the reveal of how One For All worked, it assimilated six quirks from previous users, that are as follows.

Would you look at that, there are also six quirks to parallel the six "general" powers of the gods that Captain Marvel gets whenever he assumes his champion form.

Both Deku and Captain Marvel can call upon the specific powerset at will.

The main difference here is that for Deku, he needs to "activate" it whereas Captain Marvel doesn't need to, in fact his ability to speak every known language in existence, which he got from the Wisdom of Solomon, comes to him spontaneously whenever he talks to someone who doesn't have English as their first language, or whenever someone is talking to him in another language.

Main point is that both of them have access to all of them at any time.

I really had no point to prove, I just want to point out that My Hero Academia took more inspiration from Captain Marvel/Shazam then either Captain America or Superman as a lot of media outlets claim.

Generally I've started developing an unreasonable hatred towards most batfam-meets-jl fics for the sole reason I hate how glazed and almost deified Bruce & the batfam is.

It's the same reason I don't like Danny Phantom-meets-DC because everytime one party gets glazed to hell and back. But like ESPECIALLY with batfam fics like what do you mean Bruce can ban Hal from Gotham due to a non-existent "No metas in Gotham" rule, AND somehow manages to hold back an alien invasion from Gotham almost singlehandedly with the help of almost always just the Robin's, Batgirls, and maybe, MAYBE Batwoman & Signal if they're mentiond.

Mind you, I especially hate that stupid rule. Because A) it has no basis in canon and B) its so fucking stupid. Because people unwittingly make Bruce look like a fucking bigot/hypocrite in their fics when they have it.

A bigot, because considering how often he kicks the other supers out just for visiting (even if they're in civvies), this implies he kicks out civilians too (or in some way stops them from coming) for something outside of their control à la marvel mutants. Imagine little old Molly Smith from Metropolis, wanting to go to Gotham U for their medical program & scholarship. Only to get the heart attack of her life because Batman shows up, saying she can't come in because it just so happens she has the meta ability to be 3% extra lucky on the 3rd Tuesday of every month or something.

And a hypocrite because he stops people like Flash or Superman from even ENTERING Gotham but doesn't do shit about Poison Ivy or any of the other.

It's stupid in fics where it's "courtesy" to tell batman they'll be stopping in gotham for whatever reason because it's "His" city. What do you mean this grown man throws a temper tantrum just because another hero wants to VISIT. Not even talking mentioning the times they come because they want to HELP people. I don't care if they don't "know his city" make them save civilians or something then but kicking them out is just dumb.

But also like, they always, ALWAYS dumb down the other characters to prop them up as well. Like I saw someone mentioned once that Red Hood would be a better marksman then Oliver Queen. JASON TODD. A BETTER MARKSMAN. THAN THE GREEN ARROW.

Or they'll have Bruce correct them on some obscure piece of their expertise (like I once read a fic where Bruce corrected ZATANNA??? about something magic related??????). If he is so good at everything why bother with a team at all. "he can't be everywhere" cloning is viable and almost certainly easily accessible to Billionare Bruce Wayne.

The worst is always when they absolutely idiot-fy the other JL members. They make basically everyone just flat out incompetent (most notably Oliver & Hal just become jokes but the others still get it too) so that the batfam all look like geniuses in comparison and that is just. So frustrating.

Hi!! I was interested in getting into Nightwing comics specifically and my friend recommended asking you. Which of his comics do you recommend? I have mild cultural osmosis for Marvel and DC comics, never really watched or got into either cinematic universes, but am otherwise a total beginner.

First off, you can check my Batfam comics guide and just scroll down to Dick's section. Dick's section is a tiny bit out of date, but it should hold up really well for a beginning reader!

Apart from the tl;dr list already listed on that post, I'd pick out Batman: Year Three, Nightwing: Old Friends, New Enemies, Chuck Dixon's Nightwing run, and the early Gotham Knights (2000) arcs as good, relatively contained starting points for Dick as Nightwing in the post-Crisis universe and Nightwing (2016) Vol. 6: The Untouchable for an accessible, contained starting point for Dick as Nightwing in the post-reboot universe. There are plenty of others, of course, but you should be able to read all of those with minimal confusion!
